I purchased a Maytag refrigerator (MBR2258XES4) from Home Depot in 2012. I bought a five year extended warranty. It started leaking at the bottom. Repairmen said defrost drain clogged not covered! Cost: $180. DO NOT BUY MAYTAG, N.E.W. (Asurion Co.) warranties or Home Depot appliances! This is text book deceptive advertising. At no time did Home Depot associates in Kitchen and Bath departments say that this common design flaw existed and that it was not covered under the N.E.W. Asurion warranty which cost me an an additional $150.00! I am interested in joining a class action lawsuit against Home Depot and Asurion Co (N.E.W.) warranties.

We bought this refrigerator one year & 3 months ago & we have had various issues that are now no longer covered under the warranty. The pantry drawer has a peg on the side that is plastic & broke off on the right side. Will have to replace the whole right side panel. One of the door handles is coming loose which should be an easy fix, but its just annoying that it happened at all. Now the control panel is reading OFF/OFF & isnt responding at all. Tried unplugging for 10 secs, then plug it back in, but no luck. I cannot find any info online regarding this issue, so we will have to call Maytag. Hopefully, there is an easy resolution to this problem & we wont have to buy a new motherboard.

We bought a Maytag French Door 21 cu. ft. refrigerator in 2008. 2010, 3 repairs later, the ice machine went out, we went back to ice trays. Now the compressor died. The old ad of bored Maytag repairmen cause they never need repairs is bogus.

Purchased my appliance at Lowes in 2012. I have had at least 8 service calls, the unit has NEVER worked as designed. Water leaks inside and out. The ice maker door heater had to be replaced. Fan Motors have gone out on it, broken water tubes. The temperature wont stay consistent, it freezes my refrigerator items, ruptures beverage bottles and cans. This once quiet unit is 3 times as loud than when I bought it. I am so frustrated!!!What a value $2,000 for the appliance, $700 out of pocket for repairs to date, $$ in lost food items, $$ in my time to clean the mildew, water, exploded beverages, cant put a $$ on the embarrassment when family/friends use. What is the potential danger to myself and family when the mildew is in the unit and water leaks into open refrigerator items? Next scheduled repair from my factory authorized repair technician? 10/29/2013.

I purchased a refrigerator 9 years ago and the ice maker stopped working. When the repairman took it out there was plastic peeling from the ice mold. It cost $261.11 to have the ice maker replaced and the ice maker he replaced it with has the plastic on the ice mold. He said that GEs ice makers do not have the plastic coating but Maytags still do. I called Maytag and spoke to a supervisor and they said that there was nothing that they could do. I am filing this complaint because I feel that consumer need to be aware that they are ingesting plastic that is in their ice. I feel that Maytag should compensate me for the faulty part and also eliminate the plastic coating from their ice maker. This issue is impacting many other consumers and they need to issue a recall on the ice maker and replace it for free for other consumers.

We are having the same problems with the drain clogging and bottom of the freezer filling with ice and then water all over the floor. We currently de-ice the freezer once a week. After paying top dollar for what is advertised as a top product, we expect better service. Especially when Maytag is fully aware of this problem. We sent an email of complaint to Maytag. Heard from them today. They would pay for the replacement part but not the labor. Most places around here charge $250.00 just to walk in the door!!! Is Maytag kidding?!?! NEVER AGAIN. Will also tell anyone who will listen to stay away from Maytag. No wonder they dont belong to the Consumer Resources group!!

I purchased all new appliances and decided to go with Maytag. My Maytag Refrigerator model MFI2569VEM after 12 months, just after the warranty expired, started leaking all over my kitchen floor. I called Maytag and all they told me was there is no recall on this model and there was nothing they could tell me over the phone. I purchased an extended warranty and that is a whole other problem to get someone out. They said to check the freezer problem I need to call when the leak was occurring, so they could see what is happening. So basically, I need to leave water on my kitchen floor so they could see what is happening. Who hires these people?

Bought a Maytag French door refrigerator MFT2976AEM01 in August 2013. Started having problems before the refrigerator was a year old. I called to get it serviced and it took 4 months to get a repairman to check it out. He fixed one part and then ordered another part that he needed which took 3 months to get. After he replaced that part the refrigerator continued to have problems. The serviceman has been out to repair my unit 6 times so far. He has no confidence in the Service Engineers from Maytag. They recommended yet another part be replaced, however now Maytag will not cover the parts cost.They offered to let me buy a new fridge at a discount. After spending about $2700 in August 2013, I dont have the $ to spend again for a refrigerator. My refrigerator is so loud it has been waking me up for about a month now and I am sick and tired of it. Shame on Maytag for having such terrible customer service! I will never ever ever recommend a Maytag because this has been a nightmare!

I purchased a Maytag refrigerator in November 2016. It is now the first week of June 2017 and the ice dispenser no longer works and the door alarm goes off incessantly and intermittently all day and all night. I am so sick of being woken up by the alarm in the middle of the night. I reread the manual and ran through the limited troubleshooting to no avail. I called customer service, sat on hold for a half hour, and scheduled a service call. As an interim stopgap for the pull-my-hair-out alarm issue, the operator suggested I disconnect some wires, as there is no off button for the door alarm. I wasnt dumb enough to do that and void my warranty. Best part of the call was when the operator offered to sell me an extended warranty. Well see how the service appointment goes, but I have a feeling this is the last Maytag product I will ever get. I am very curious about the lack of product recall as my research unveiled hundreds of complaints about the exact same issues I am having. MFI2670XEMS - I bought a Maytag Fridge MFI2670XEMS in 2012. I dont remember how long it took to start leaking but it wasnt long. Same thing as what most people are complaining about - I also have hardwood floors that are ruined. I just had a kitchen remodel and now I wish the floors werent new. Warped badly under the fridge. It is a constant pain. I have to break up the ice with a blunt object to get it out. I was so excited to get a new fridge. Of course it was on sale, now I know why. I wish I had just kept the old one, at least my floors would look great. Lame.

My Maytag refrigerator has driven us up the hill and back and has taken us several months in order for us to get the issue solved. This is quite an expensive fridge freezer and the after service has been diabolical to say the least. All their service calls in the UK were handled by a third party and it seems that there is some sort of change of ownership between Whirlpool and Hotpoint so after all the previous visits by different companies the problem of water leaking unto our floor is still going on and now all their call are being routed through a major insurance and a utility company who are more interested in trying to signing you up on one of their insurance policies than fixing it.To make matters worse the contractors they use are absolutely useless when it comes to fixing american style refrigerators. I was told I needed various parts which would have cost hundreds of pounds or that the appliance was uneconomical to repair. All of which was untrue. This I later found out when after emails after emails Whirlpool passed on the contact details of a service agent ags refrigeration who came out and found that there was a fault with the water in line connector at the bottom of the refrigerator which they replaced.

I love the functionality of this Maytag refrigerator. The inside is so nice and big, I can almost fit anything into it. When I need to make a lot of food for a lot of people, this refrigerator really foots the bill.

Recently started having puddles of water on floor every morning. Just noticed a thick sheet of ice on freezer floor when I had trouble closing the freezer door. Also the water dispenses very slowly. Removed filter and it would not dispense at all. Will try melting the sheet of ice to see if that helps. Purchased 2011.

We bought a new Maytag fridge in 2013, french doors, ice maker on the bottom. In 2 years we have replaced the control panel on the front door 3 times. Each time the plastic panel cracks and breaks free. The last time they replaced the entire door, all on warranty. Well 3 months later it does the exact same thing. I call Maytag and they say, fridge is past its warranty period so no coverage. It will cost me about $600 to replace this control panel.

It is not worth the money. I paid $2500.00 for a Maytag refrigerator that I had for two months. Two service calls were made to Maytag as of 07/07/2014, the problem no ice and the refrigerator stays warm. The problem has not been resolve and Maytag refuses to replace the item.

We purchased a Maytag refrigerator in 2009. The freezer is on the bottom. In the last 3 months weve had to defrost this frost-free refrigerator. The freezer frosts and the refrigerator went into the danger level for foods. A technician said there is a tube from the freezer to the refrigerator that gets blocked with ice and your food is spoiled in no time. I wish I would have read this website before I purchased a Maytag. Hopefully, this will help someone else. I thought that Maytag was a quality name. That was the good ole days and now Im living in the good ole days defrosting a frost-free refrigerator. Beware!

We purchased a Maytag refrigerator (freezer on the bottom) in August 2012. In 2014 we had to have the freezer repaired (defrost drain) which cost $153. This month, July 2015, we had to have the refrigerator repaired for another $293. The problem with the refrigerator the repairman told us is the control board (p/n W10503278). He stated that they didnt make the first board very well and hes been replacing this part quite frequently for customers. I only spent $799 on the refrigerator and I already have $446 into it. That is half of what I paid for it! I wouldnt recommend Maytag to anybody!

Delivered 10-4-19. 12-9-19 - Not Cooling, Called Whirlpool on hold for exactly 1 hour. 12-11-19 - Repair service here - ordered new Control Panel. 12-17-19 - New Control Panel Replaced. 1-6-20 - Freezer is not freezing. Control Panel going up and down and blinking constantly. Called Whirlpool - on hold for exactly 1 hour. They called service repair. 1-8-20 - Service Repair here and ordered 2 thermostats: 1 for freezer and 1 for refrigerator. 1-15-20 - Service Repair here to install 2 thermostats - At this time I purchased the extended warranty for $119.30 for 3 years.3-1-21 - Control Panel completely went out again. I called Whirlpool - on hold exactly 1 hour before they answer phone. I am so pissed. They call Service Repair. 3-3-21 - Service Repair here. They order new Control Panel. States these panels are continuously going out and they are having to replace them everywhere. 3-12-21 - I called Service Repair since we havent heard anything. ETA on control panel from Whirlpool is not scheduled until 3-19. I am really pissed by now.In the meantime I have been on hold with Whirlpool for 47 minutes. At exactly 1 hour being on hold, they answer my call. Im told I have to wait. There is nothing they can do. I told her we were buying ice every other day at $10.07 for 2 20# bags and they wont replace money. Told me to throw my items away and they would replace all the food for $250.00 one time during the 3 year contract period. The service is Customer service on their contract is terrible. Waiting for parts is even worse. This is a piece of crap appliance and we will never buy another Maytag.

We too were having a water leak from the French door freezer and a sheet of ice under the freezer drawer. The repairman came and told us that it was a common problem with the French Door fridge and an easy fix. Maytag has a new P type defrost hose that doesnt freeze up. He changed the part, $149.75 bill, and no more problem. Should Maytag have let consumers know this was a part that was failing? Yes, definitely. But at least the fix was reasonably cheap.

I have a Model MBF 1958XES4 which I bought from Home Depot in June of 2012. It has leaked repeatedly onto my wood floor. The water also collects and freezes on the floor of the freezer. I already have warped floor boards as a result. I just got it fixed. The repair person said he has done over 200 of these repairs in the last year. He also said Maytag knows its a defect and has supplied them with replacement parts. The company apparently tells its repair companies not to discuss this with their customers. I have yet to contact Maytag, although apparently from others experiences that will be futile. Im willing to join others in pursuing this. I had a 40 year old Kelvinator which was still working well which I replaced with this refrigerator when I redid my kitchen.

This product was purchased in March. In September, the agitator broke off. Thats a new one on me with a washer. Every other one Ive bought tended to last 10 years or so, then something like a motor wore out. It was an obvious design flaw on a topheavy agitator held on by a flimsy plastic sleeve. To make matters worse, their warranty service seems mostly geared to selling extended warranties, necessitated by the poor quality and bad design of their products. So, for a mere $182, I can have it covered for the next six or seven times the agitator breaks. No thanks, Ill figure out how to fix it myself when its no longer under warranty, or just cut my losses by buying another machine, and never another Maytag or Whirlpool product. I had a similar experience with a Whirlpool refrigerator purchased in April 2017, which had a defective module that went fortunately just before it was out of warranty.

I unfortunately just had the same issue concerning my unit. The unit went berserk, stopped cooling and ruined all my food. I managed to get it outside after leaking spoiled food all over my floor. I washed it out and contacted Maytag after reading the hundreds of complaints. They sent someone out to fix the panel but he couldnt get it to cool. He said many times when a unit goes down that the acidity from produce along with moisture can eat through the aluminum components causing a freon leak. Obviously, this happened to me. I contacted Maytag and they said they would fix that too but once I called back, they said that it was a separate issue. Then I spoke with another person who said they would send a tech to inspect. I took off work and finally got a courtesy call from tech saying he was told not to come. I was amazed I missed work waiting and got no call from Maytag saying they changed their mind. I called back in and was told flat out I would not be covered, even though the fridge was fine before this happened. I suggest everyone read over the Consumer Protection Act which covers defective equipment causing issues by both injury and property damage. A class action lawsuit needs to be organized concerning this also. In the meantime, I implore each of you to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in your state along with Michigan where Maytag is headquartered. This will guarantee a response from corporate. Also, make copies of this forum and send it to your State Attorney General explaining how you have been sold a defective item. They say ABC news once did a segment on this fridge issue also, so I suggest contacting them asking for a follow-up story. For those that use social media, go onto their Facebook and Twitter page to post a link to this site and the way you have been treated after spending over $2,000 and a fridge that has lasted 7 years or less. Its time for small voices to unite to form one that is much larger.

In August of 2009, we had an opportunity to remodel our kitchen plus add new windows and doors. How exciting! SO we had put down new flooring in our kitchen that matched our oak cabinets and since we had a little money saved, we wanted to purchase new appliances to match. We purchased a Maytag side by side with ice and water in the door. It also had the fingerprint resistant stuff on the outside. It cost about $1300. You buy name brand so they will last a while but here we are November 12, 2014, 7 years later and the compressor goes out. If repaired, it will cost $8090 to fix. Why do I want another Maytag. We purchased a MAYTAG refrigerator when we recently built our present home. This refrigerator has been a nightmare! Ice forms in the bottom freezer and then constantly melts out of the bottom of the appliance all over the floor. Weve had a number of service calls with no real effect. The computerized function that sets functions do not work well and often shut down the appliance with little clear way to start it up again. The ice maker/dispenser often clogs up or will not produce ice. Weve had it! We broke down today and spent the money on a new GE refrigerator. My very strong advice is DONT BUY A MAYTAG refrigerator with the freezer on the bottom!

We bought a Maytag refrigerator. Big big mistake. It bangs, makes all kinds of noises. The bottom freezer has ice that builds up once in a while, has to be unloaded and thawed out. We have had several service calls and they do not know whats wrong. Trouble started about a month out of warranty. Called Maytag and they would not do anything. WE are very disappointed in Maytag. We spent more money to get a good product and ended up with junk. We are getting rid of it and buying one that is made by a company that knows what they are doing.

I, too, have had major problems with this Maytag refrigerator! We have experienced everything from a malfunctioning ice maker, flashing control panel, overloaded compressor, erratic freezer (freezes much of the fridge contents), and doors not staying closed/inadvertently popping open. We have owned this fridge since 2007 and have repaired the ice maker and the freezing problems on our own dime. When the clicking sound woke the entire house up at 5 am, I finally decided to post! I realize that appliances are not perfect, and that Maytag had the best of intentions when designing and producing this product, but what really infuriates me is that Maytag has known about this widespread inherent problem since late 2006! Why no recall? Why no notice? Why no assistance? When I called the customer service line this morning, the representative acted like shed never even heard of this fridge having problems - yeah, right. All you have to do is Google the model number or just Maytag fridge panel flashing and clicking problem to discover thousands of similar complaints. I do not fault Maytag for manufacturing a less than perfect appliance, but I do hold them accountable for adequately repairing/replacing such a rampant and unsafe (compressor overload) product! Maybe it is time for a class action. Something needs to be done to protect the consumer from a company that is so slow to correct a long-standing and potentially dangerous problem!

I bought my black refrigerator in 2006. It has ice in the door and freezer on left side and refrigerator on right. I have not had any problem with my refrigerator and it continues to serve me well. When I need to buy another one, I will probably get a stainless that doesnt show handprints.

On May 23, 2009, I purchased a Maytag bottom mount refrigerator even though I knew that Maytag had many problems with this product and others. I innocently thought that by the year 2009, all their problems would have been taken care of - I was wrong. On April 2, 2011, the freezer part of the refrigerator was not defrosting. I had to make a service call to replace the control board. On March 3, 2013, the regular part of the refrigerator was not cooling. I had to make a service call to replace the control board.Complaining to Whirlpool is a waste of time. The best answer I have received is, I am sorry. There is no end to the garbage Whirlpool is manufacturing and by my experience they dont care. Why dont we, the consumers, hire a lawyer and start a class action suit to let Whirlpool know we are fed up with being ripped off?

Do not buy one. Maytag is unresponsive to repairs or parts that are needed. They are not even manufacturing the part that breaks. If you are lucky, you will find out there is someone who will fix the defective computer board... But Maytag will not tell you. We were without fridge for 4 months... They did not care.

Fridge Model MFF2258VEB6 - Our refrigerator is less that 2 years old and it wont make ice! The bottom of freezer is filled with water that froze. Everyday there is water on the floor. We asked at Home Depot where we purchased it and they said we need to change the filter. What filter? The owners manual is a joke. We cant figure out where the filter is located so it looks like we have to pay money to have someone come look at this. Hey, this is ridiculous. I thought Maytag had a good reputation and thats why we bought ALL Maytag appliances two years ago! Never again!

I just found this website & do not have my model info with me. But we have bought 2 Maytag refrigerators since 2001. We still have the 2nd refrigerator but I want to replace it as soon as we can. They were different models but had/have the exact same problem. They freeze up into sheets of ice and then leak puddles of water on to the floor. Makes me mad when I see their ad about how great their product is - what a load of crap! My first refrigerator was a General Electric; it was still running after 19 years when I left the farm. I still have my 2nd General Electric refrigerator (18 years old) down in my family room - running like a top! NOT EVER GOING TO BUY MAYTAG AGAIN!

We bought a Maytag refrigerator two years ago with the front french doors and bottom pull out drawer. We chose Maytag because we thought it was a name we could trust, a good quality merchandise. However, in the last two months, we started having problems when the fridge wouldnt stay cold, the freezer worked fine. We removed everything from the freezer and my husband found the freezer needed defrosting as the back of the unit was a solid sheet of ice. It took hours to defrost and we thought that we had the problem taken care of.. and that we wouldnt have to worry about this happening again. However, we have now had to do this three times in the last two months!! I love the style of this fridge..but am getting SO ANNOYED with having to rip everything out of the freezer and spending HOURS to defrost it! I have NEVER had this problem with any other fridge!! Im ready to replace it, but weve only had it for two years, and I shouldnt have to be spending a fortune on ANOTHER fridge after TWO years!!

Maytag refrigerator - After 3 months, a water line broke and caused $350 in damages to our kitchen floor. The next month, the ice maker jammed. The next month, the ice maker went out. I have agreed to let the Maytag repairman (youve seen the commercial where he never has anything to do) use our spare bedroom. Seriously its the worst appliance, by far, Ive ever owned and Ive had plenty as I am 71 years old.

I purchased a Maytag 4-door model, a little over three years ago. A little over a year ago, I noticed small puddles of water around the bottom of my refrigerator on the floor. I blamed the dog for having accidents and shrugged it off. Well, after months of putting up with this I came to the realization that it wasnt my dog, so I started looking for leaks on the seal, etc. Thats when I realized that the entire floor of the freezer was one solid block of ice! So, I looked online for people that might be having the same problem. Sure enough, there are A LOT of us!!! Now to add insult to injury, I have to have a MAYTAG certified repairman come and look at what needs to be done! He only charges $85.00 just to come to my house!!!! Thanks MAYTAG, I spend $2500.00 for a refrigerator thats obviously defective, and still have to pay more to have it repaired!!!

Purchased a Maytag side by side MSB27C2XAM00 in June 2014 to replace a 20 year old Kenmore. After 14 months the fridge stopped keeping things cold in the food compartment and in the freezer. And, the water and ice dispensers stopped working. Called Maytag and they confirmed the fridge was 2 months past the warranty and the best they could do was offer an extended one-year warranty for $325 and set up an appointment. I declined and called a local repair company. They responded promptly and discovered the problem was a bad board. Had to replace the board at a cost of $475 (parts and labor). It was $150 more than the extended warranty but I was already in the hole for $100 service call and I was able to get the fridge repaired on the spot. I had the Kenmore for 20+ years without one repair. Maytag was good for one year and 2 months. Dont know how this company will last with a $2000 product that lasts a year. I can not recommend this product and advise anyone in the market for any appliance to avoid Maytag products.Updated on 11/20/2015: After the board was replaced, the fridge worked but was not keeping either of the side by side compartments cold. They were cool but not cold. Repairman returned. Said it was the compressor which needed to be repaired/replaced. Maytag said the compressor was under a 10 year warranty unlike the other parts of the fridge. Good news, Maytag covered the cost of the part / but bad news that it broke after 14 months of use. However, the service people told me the cost of the compressor was the smallest part of the repair. Labor and service would be costly and Id be better off getting a new fridge with a 5 year warranty contact. After I got over the initial shock of having to toss a 14 month old fridge that cost $1500 and complaining to Maytag, I went to Lowes and found a replacement fridge. This time it was not a Maytag. Moral of the story stay away from Maytag. Dont be fooled by the brand. Avoid them at all costs. And purchase a fridge with a 5yr+ warranty contact!

I have the same problem noted by the other posts. Water leaking on hardwood floor from the bottom of the freezer. Refrig is out of warranty. Also, the deli drawer is also broken. This is a $2000 refrigerator and the quality is terrible. Please contact me for class action suit inclusion.

We bought a bottom freezer Maytag refrigerator a little over a year ago and have nothing but problems with it. It leaks and has ruined my hardwood floors. The lift lid for the meat and cheese broke. I have had other refrigerators with kids at home for 10-12 years and never had these problems. It is just my husband and me now so I know it does not get the abuse other refrigerator that were different brands received. I would never buy another Maytag refrigerator. I have been so disappointed with the product and the service. I read some other reviews and have to agree that Maytag could care less about their customers. I have also received several Im sorry, but basically we cannot help you.

I bought our side-by-side French door refrigerator a few years ago and even bought the extended warranty (which no longer is in effect, unfortunately). Yesterday, the refrigerator failed, We called a small local repair person who could be at my home in a couple of hours. He listened and said my compressor was out, a leak was probably in there too, and that it would cost about 900 dollars or more to repair. When I called Maytag to see what they thought, they said that because I called a non-Maytag assigned repair person (even though this small-business repair guy didnt even take apart the refrigerator), I could no longer get their repair plus one year warranty offer which runs 400 dollars. But there is nothing I see on their warranty page that says this. Here I was trying to help our local economy by calling a small mom-and-pop repair person who is known in our town and has a good reputation, but I guess that by doing that minor well-intentioned act, it goes against Maytag corporate policy. Wow, how foolish do I feel now? I feel ashamed to admit this, but I actually started crying when I was on the phone with their customer help rep and asked, Isnt there something that can be done? I was thinking to myself that two months after Christmas with three kids is a tough time to replace a 1300-dollar refrigerator. I offered to pay the 400 dollars to get the refrigerator fixed by a sanctioned Maytag official with their warranty, but that I didnt know that I wasnt supposed to call anyone else besides Maytag if my appliances broke down. I would have never called our small local guy if I had known that Maytag corporate had such a policy. She said that no, there was nothing that she could do, and that is what happens to customers who call a non-Maytag assigned repair person. I guess when this happens to your fridge, you ask your neighbors if they can keep some milk, lunch meat and cheese for you, at least until you can save up for another fridge. Thank goodness that dried pasta and Ragu sauce dont have to be refrigerated. There are also cans of peas and corn and dry cereal, so it should be okay.I cant express how absolutely disappointed I am with myself and with my purchase, and how this has soured me on everything Maytag. I feel like an idiot. Can you believe that I had actually scrimped and saved up for months to buy this Maytag refrigerator and the extended warranty (hah, just to be safe)? I had bought it because I thought Maytag was a reputable company and because it was supposed to help the environment with its energy saving technology. But dont you think that a $1300 refrigerator should last more than 7 years (Believe it or not, this newer Maytag fridge was replacing a 20-year-old fridge that I gave to my cousins and which is still running to this day!)? And to add insult to injury, I already had a major repair done 4 years ago on this same French door Maytag fridge when it was only 3 years old. Maytag should offer to come out and fix their mess, but all I received when I called Robin, the supervisor, at their Tennessee call center was a, Sorry, there is nothing that I can do and there is no one else that you can speak to, and Nope, there is no one at corporate that you can call for help either and I have no advice to offer you. I can give you a mailing address though, if you like. I think I did hear pity in her voice, so that was some comfort. Pity from a call center supervisor, think about that! How awful it must be for her if that is all that she can offer to the desperate people who look to her for guidance! I actually felt sorry for her after I hung up the phone. It must be terrible to know that the company that you work for is probably mistreating its customers and all that you can offer is an Im sorry. I wonder how often someone says a rosary for her and her workers taking on those endless calls for help. How often does she cry herself to sleep after a day of that?I really dont like complaining online and I rarely do it, but this experience was just so awful and hopeless that I feel I had to say something to save other people pain and money. I hope that everyone learns from my miserable Maytag mistakes and please pass on my experiences to all of your friends and family. Those big tax refund checks will be coming soon, and I know that a lot of people upgrade their appliances with that money. Please, please think twice before you buy anything Maytag. I would feel better if I knew that people could learn from my stupidity. Remarkably, I was once gullible enough to trust and believe in American-made Maytag - goodness, was I wrong to do that. I am considering Facebooking my friends and family to let them know what happened and save them the heartache too. I hope that everyone who reads this can learn from my own mistakes and misguided trust in a company. MBL2258XES1 - Like most of the other reviewers, we have a Maytag refrigerator just 3 years old with a lower freezer that leaks water onto the floor -- and has been doing it for the last two years. We have to take the freezer apart (NOT easy), defrost it, take the back panel off, and clear the drain tube. Obviously a defective design! Cant believe Maytag hasnt done something about this!

MF12269VEM7 - I purchased a refrigerator in September 2013 and my ice maker stopped working within 1 month of delivery. I had the motor and ice assembly changed 3 times and over 12 service visits within the first 6 months. I had the motor and ice assembly replaced in March 2014 and they offered to extend my warranty for a year. My ice maker has stopped working again. When calling Maytag customer service, I spoke to the Supervisor who will pay for the parts but require me to pay for the service calls. As well they only have a 6-month warranty extension on file. This fridge is obviously a lemon but they will not take any ownership because I did not purchase an extended warranty! The Supervisor state he does not report to anyone and he has the final say regarding my service. I will never buy a Maytag again. A year and a half of ongoing problems and no solution.

Our experience with our Maytag refrigerator has been anything but good! It has the model # and serial # of the ones that have been recalled, only we have just found out about this. We bought this new at Sears. Soon after, it started having troubles with the freezer, would freeze up and the whole thing would stop working. Over the years, we have had repair after repair, money after money. Just for the record, my husband and I about every two weeks spend about one hour defrosting this monster! It looks nice on the outside.

Because the design is bad, the refrigerator has to be defrosted once a month. A home filled with Maytag appliances, these are all 4 years old and ready for the trash. Dont buy Maytag, it is crap. They sell for money, not workability. The name has been trashed by Whirlpool. I am a builder and they will not ever see me recommend them, not even to a neighbor I dont like.

The circuit board on my seven year old Maytag French door refrigerator died. I called a repair company out to see if it could be repaired. He went to order the part and said that it was not available. Now I read a review from someone else saying that Maytag does not have parts for appliances that are over 6 years old. Thats ridiculous that after spending so much money on an appliance that parts are not available. I will never buy another Maytag appliance.

The Maytag has nice features but the shelves dont allow much room to adjust them and the freezer could stand to be a bit larger but overall its a good and hard working fridge for the price. Would love if those two things could be fixed without a huge price tag.

We purchased a Maytag refrigerator Model # M1TXEMMWS02 and Serial # E01103420 in April of 2010 from Home Depot in Aurora, Illinois. First off, we did register the fridge online via Maytag which of course, they have no record of! Now, we go on vacation and come back to all of our food ruined because the refrigerator stopped working! No refrigerator should stop working within two years! I called Maytag and they offered me a Repair Plus One package of $302.73! Are you kidding? We paid $400.00 for fridge. Then of course, only one-year warranty and have to pay at least $75 for a service call, labor plus parts! If it’s the compressor, the charge is $326.20, plus shipping and handling! What a joke! There needs to be longer warranty and should offer free service calls and much more. I am disgusted in Maytag products and in which we purchased due to a reputable name! Never again.

This has nothing to do with the vendor. This is clearly shoddy workmanship on the part of Maytag. I bought this refrigerator in 2005 and already the compressor is gone. So therefore, I have to replace the whole unit.What kind of ** is this? You mean to tell me that you people cant find someone to build a compressor that holds up more than a few years? I have had this refrigerator for a few years and never have had a problem. It keeps food uniformly cold, and is frost free. While appearance is attractive, it doesnt look like a $3,000 refrigerator. However, black pebbled-surface exterior is easy to clean and scratch-resistant. Plastic and glass interior fittings also have held up very well. I originally thought it would be too small because I was buying it to fit a certain space in the kitchen. But it has turned out to be just the right size because there is no wasted space inside. I bought this at Home Depot on sale for about $400.00 and it has turned out to be an excellent buy. Delivery was on time, efficient, and people were polite and helpful. Refrigerator was ready to be used about 15 minutes after delivery arrived. I have found Maytag appliances to be extremely reliable and made to last. They have never disappointed me. I will continue to buy them. I highly recommend it.

I bought my refrigerator in May of 2012. Brand new from Home Depot. It is less than 3 years old. Now it is not working. I did not purchase an extended warranty. I never thought in less than 3 years my fridge would stop working. I called Maytag, first question from them was about warranty. So I knew I was screwed. So, basically for $300 they would come out and fix the problem. I only paid $800 for the fridge. I am lost as to why in 3 years my fridge is broke?? Makes no sense to me. So I paid a tech $100 to tell me what was wrong with it. The evaporator is leaking. It is leaking. So the evaporator is bad and I cannot fix myself. So for another $300 they would fix, so a total of $400 in an $800 fridge.I am pissed. I remember my parents having a fridge for over 25 years. Why does Maytag not take responsibility for their problem. The products we buy should last longer than 3 years. It is just a way for them to get us to buy another product. So needless to say, I am one pissed off customer. So let the emailing and letter writing begin.

I have had the fridge 3 years and 2/3 shelves have crumbled to pieces, the compressor has gone, the ice bucket crumbled, the ice maker stopped working, once ice maker was fixed it got stuck on crush, and now I am trying to order another shelf because it has also crumbled like the rest and this is in a household of 1 person! I am just getting the run around... I have been redirected to 3 different numbers now (800-344-1274, 866-368-6478, and 877-468-2371) and now I had a rude customer service rep so I asked if I could speak with someone else and I am now on eternal rot on hold. Pretty sure he didnt even transfer me and Im just sitting on hold on his line while he is laughing. I bought a Maytag refrigerator over the summer - the French door and drawer freezer. Expensive but crappy. After about a month motor starting making noise then is shut down. Called the store. They came and swapped it out and not even two weeks later same thing. Looked up product and all awful reviews. Never thought to look up reviews before purchasing. Could of save myself the headache. Not to mention my daughter was like, Mom stop buying that brand. It sucks. Did you not realize our washing machine is the same brand and after almost two years it started acting up and your last washing machine you had for 10 years before it even gave you any problems.

I have had this refrigerator only 6 weeks. The freezer works but the refrigerator does not cool properly. I went back to Home Depot - Baltimore MD and told them I have lost 3-1 gallons of milk for it spoiled. I am right now putting a 4th gallon in and out of the freezer trying to keep it. A serviceman was to my house the other day and stated this brand new Maytag refrigerator only had in my home 6 weeks needs a new board and a flapper that opens up in freezer that sends cold air to refrigerator. I purchased Maytag fridge a year ago and it has been a nightmare. The freezer doesnt freeze items. the drawers were all damaged upon receiving. I have contacted Maytag for more than 10 times and 5 techs came that I paid 125 each visit to fix the fridge because I didnt purchase the warranty thinking it was a good product . It is not! They dont stand behind their word. They lie and they send unqualified techs the misdiagnose issue to collect service calls. Please avoid this brand by all cost. My experience is terrible and I never want to wish it on anyone.

Its an old story with Maytag. We purchased a refrigerator in Nov 2012. Three days ago we noticed the refrigerator was making a constant buzzing sound and that the freezer was not cold. A repairman confirmed our suspicions. Bad compressor! Cost to repair, $729. And, the warranty on the new compressor was only 90 days. Cost for a new one $1700. Contacted Maytag. We do offer extended warranties (up to 10 years on compressors) on some models, but not yours. So, we will get a new one but with the extended warranty. It wont be a Maytag.

We were delighted with our new Maytag refrigerator, model #MBF2258XEB, until the compressor died less than a year after we bought it. Home Depot, where we purchased it, directed us to the A&E Company for service. Two weeks later, we are still without refrigeration; Maytag refuses to replace it and even refused to overnight the new compressor. We thought Maytag set an industry standard for excellence. I have a 4-year old Maytag refrigerator. The back of the top freezer compartment is frosted and frozen, and the bottom refrigerator is now too warm to put food into. I wonder if a lonely non-busy Maytag repairman can come and fix it? Oh wait! Thats the deceptive false advertising that I bought into when I wrongly assumed that these were great appliances. I cant afford to get this fixed and after what Ive read from other peoples experiences, it wouldnt matter anyway. It would just break again anyway. What a joke! I have a Maytag fridge (model # 2258VEM4) which I have had for 4 years. A few months ago, it started leaking water on the floor and notice that it had a bed of ice on the floor of the freezer. Reading the list of complaints in this site for the same issue, it sounds like it is a design problem.

We like the refrigerator and we have had it several years. But the thing the top freezer conceals much of the top rack of refrigerator. We must duck and almost kneel to get to food inside. Next fridge will have drawers and doors that open on both sides.

My freezer has been leaking from the bottom for a few months and now the icemaker has quit working as well. The refrigerator has been purchased less than two years ago. The warranty is expired. I will not fix this refrigerator, as it is a gigantic piece of junk. However I would like to be compensated by Maytag at least 1/3 of the price so I can have it removed from my house before it creates more damage to my floors and subfloors.

We bought a Maytag refrigerator Model # MBF 2254HEW, Serial # 14560744NG. It worked for 7 years and now its dead. Well it does blow warm air. We are told it cost so much to fix one that we would be better off to buy new. I bought an extended warranty but of course all is out of warranty and Maytag is sorry for the inconvenience and that parts do fail. I am going back to using the old style refrigerators that last rather than paying an enormous amount of money to buy something new and looks nice but will only last a few years. When is a recall in order? When are companies required to do better for the customer? We are told that the compressor might be OK but it could be low on coolant but it is very difficult to find a leak.

Under a year old @MaytagBrand fridge stopped working and they couldnt get a repairman here for a week. I said this was unacceptable--we would lose hundreds of dollars in groceries and months of breast milk. They didnt care. I asked if they would reimburse me for a private repairman, they said no. Less than a year old. Friends, I implore you, never buy @MaytagBrand. This customer service is truly unacceptable.

Products spoiling even if set at recommended temperature. Hard to clean bottom freezer. Not happy with this configuration. Had to have repairmen in because of stopped up drain which I could not access to clean myself. Does not close completely at times.

Ice maker stopped making ice within first month. Repair man came out next day. Said ice maker only makes 7 cubes at a time 8 times a day. REALLY? A $2000 refrigerator only makes 50 ice cubes a day??? Why would I need a refrigerator that size if there was only one of me? Obviously, Ill be keeping a bag of ice nearby.

Like so many other people reviewing Maytag refrigerators with bottom freezers, I am dealing with water on the floor. At 64+, I am not eager to tackle the problem as a DIY project. Once of defrosting and cleaning up was enough. I love the looks of my 2 yr old $2000 4 door fridge/freezer but hate the issues. I guess Maytag is going to ignore all of us. When someone finds a reliable company, sing it from the rooftops.

We bought a Maytag refrigerator about 3 years and have had so much trouble. The freezer section which is on the bottom half leaks water periodically on the floor unless, we take the bottom rack out and pry the ice from the shelf about every week. It started doing this about 6 months ago and well need to get a repair man out here. The doors on the refrigerator are also a problem. They often dont close properly, so one is partially open, but unless you look directly at it, it isnt noticeable.

Food stored next to the ice dispenser freezes. Freezer floor builds up with 1 1/2 to 2 of ice every couple of weeks, door wont close and water leaks on floor.

I loved my refrigerator because it was plenty of space, energy efficient and ran like a top even after 20 years when we sold the house. I look forward to buying another one when I buy my new home.

Purchased a Maytag MBF2256HEW bottom freezer in 2005. About fours ago, I had to replace the control board to the tune of $140.00. Today the fridge quit working and this time it appears to be the compressor, so tomorrow we will be shopping for a new unit. It will not be a Maytag.

Our Maytag refrigerator is leaking water all over my kitchen floor to the point that my floor tile has lifted. The ref. is a French door with water and ice in the door and freezer on the bottom. We have been cleaning up puddles of water at least several times a day. I see that this is not an isolated problem, as others have complained about this defect doing the same thing with their Maytag refs. Why hasnt ConsumerAffairs demanded a recall on these expensive defective refrigerators to date? I am truly disgusted.

I purchased my Maytag side by side Model No. MSB27C2XAM00 in August of 2013. Within a 2 Weeks the lettering was gone on the control panel for the ice and water dispenser. I contacted Maytag and they replaced it, but the next one did the same thing, and the next one! They replaced it three times and they have all done the same thing. Now they are refusing to do anything more because they say I must be using cleaner or something on the panel because I am the only one having an issue with this! I assure you I have not used any cleaner and there are only three people in my household so it doesnt even experience excessive usage! I know this problem isnt as extreme as some, but when you pay this much money for an appliance you would like to think it should last longer than this!

I am renting to own a Maytag refrigerator and it is leaking water on my floor. Runt my floor already - had to replace the floor once. Sent it back to the place where I got it for them to fix it. Paying insurance by the way that isnt worth a crap either cause they wanting to tell me that I left it open at some point or the lights was off at some point. Anyway to make a long story short they gave me the run around and didnt want to fix it. But how do you fight big companies? This was a rental company by the way rent to own so now I have 4 payments left out of 24 at 180.00 each and they still dont want to fix it. I dont know who to be madder at - the rental company or Maytag from selling this piece of junk. But by me renting to own it if any problems occurred they were suppose to fix it. Youre already paying twice the amount to get one cause of credit issues. But thats no reason to double screw someone or should I say triple cause you getting doubled the rental company alone. They need to recall this refrigerator. It has been a lot of complaint and they want to tell you to go behind the refrigerator unstop a line. Well I didnt buy this refrigerator to have to work on pulling it out from the wall every two days to do this procedure. This is crazy. Any one out there looking to buy a refrigerator my advice to you would be do your research and stay away from rental places whatever you do because you will pay twice the amount and they wont stand behind their promise either to fix it as long as you renting from them! And stay away from Maytag!!!

Paid $900 for this side by side stainless steel model 15 years ago. Pros: performance, appearance, simplicity. Cons: none. Only 1 minor repair, and the repairman said this is 1 of only 2 makes he recommends.

I bought a new refrigerator and when I plugged it in would not cool. I called and the authorized tech came and said the compressor was bad and the evaporator was rusted and hoses were greased up. I have now been informed that the warranty was void because it was put in a dental office and not a single home. I said since it was never used I would put it in a house. They said it was void and I was out of luck. I always thought maytag sold good products but this has convinced me to never buy a product from them again. It never worked and the tech said it should be replaced but they said he should never had told us this.

Perfect for me. It would be better if I had a space to put it without adjacent walls. Mine sits with the refrigerator door against a wall and I have to pull it out to the door space to open it wide enough to pull out the drawers to take them out for cleaning. Otherwise, it has worked very well for me by myself, for me and my husband when he was alive and for my son and his family and myself, and he has 5 children.

Maytag French Door Refrigerator (Counter depth) #MFC2061KES14 which cost over $2,500 dollars is a DUD and the company is EVIL. The freezer leaks all over the floor and the company will not stand by their product. When I called the company they said they have had to upgrade a part called the drain tube kit because of this problem but did not put a recall. They know that this problem will occur just about the time the warranty runs out. I bet the wife of the CEO of this company has a very expensive good brand of refrigerator. Stand by your product and pay for the repairs and labor to get it fixed and put out a recall. LIFE IN AMERICA!!!

Same as everyone else, ice freezes up on the bottom and water runs out all over the floor, ruining my new floor. Whole kitchen was new including all appliances. Maytag is ruining my floors. Can find no drain pipes so not sure where the water is supposed to do. I think they forgot to install one. But I am getting pretty sick of seeing my floors ruined and stepping in water.

DO NOT BUY MAYTAG REFRIGERATOR. I purchased a Maytag refrigerator 3 years ago, now it started to leak water on the floor. Repairman said this happens after about 3 years to all Maytag refrigerators because the water hose is too small and gets plugged which causes water to flow into bottom of freezer; 2 inches of ice on bottom of freezer. Now we have to remove everything from freezer and refrigerator, unplug for 2 days to melt ice so we lose all of our food in freezer and refrigerator.

Ice maker not making ice, lights on the temperature controller are all flashing, ice/water dispenser door continuously opens and closes, refrigerator and freezer both do not cool/freeze properly. I purchased a new main control and low voltage board at a total cost of $400 and replaced them to no avail. Nothing changed when electronic boards were replaced.

My Maytag french door has worked steadily for 12 + years. It’s a basic model, ice maker in freezer. No door dispensers or electronics. I would buy it again.

Our Maytag refrigerator that is two years old has been nothing but issues just after the warranty expired. Ice maker is broken and it started having the temp alarm go off every few weeks and now every few days. It was a 1800 dollar purchase and no one has been helpful where we bought it nor has Maytag. We will never purchase another Maytag product...

After owning my refrigerator for about six months, it started to reek, the smell permeating all of the food in the fridge. After cleaning and disinfecting the fridge and throwing out all of the food I found that the smell was just as bad as before. When I checked online I found that Maytag owners have been complaining about the smell for over a decade now. It is caused by a poorly installed drain pan. The fridges design directs air flow so that the smell enters the fridge and distributes it evenly throughout the fridge.

My new fridge iced over top to bottom. It started making horrible noise then ice maker stopped working. Called MY repairman. Thats when I found out about all the ice. He told me to thaw out and hed be back. It thawed out and then freezer went out. ALL my freaking meats and frozen food had to be thrown out. Now water keeps Flowing out on my NEW tile! Called my repairman back. He came back then informed me it was junk! He said several other customers having same issue. My daughter has the same refrigerator and it broke down just like mine! My repairman also said a big issue with your junk was you used parts from other brands to fix!After reading all these complaints I can see no sense in calling to get it repaired. Its obvious we are all having the same issue. Maybe someone from your ** company could check them out. I dont have the money to buy another fridge! My 85 year old uncle with Alzheimers lives with me and I dont want him to slip on that water and hurt himself! I think all of these complaints need to go to BBB. Thats my next step. I believe you need to recall this junk or give us our money back! I need you to respond or Im going on blast to let everyone know how you treat your customers.

We moved into our first house just over two years ago and decided we needed to get a new refrigerator. We did a ton of research online, reading reviews, etc. We found a few not so great complaints regarding Maytag; however, we took our chances. (Note that we live in a house built in the 40s, so the fridge space is small and we needed a fridge size that is smaller than normal. We didnt have many options.) Well, a little less than 12 months later (yes, luckily right before the warranty expired) our ice dispenser stopped working properly. The mini-ice door would not close properly, resulting in a lot of frost in where the ice door was located. (There was so much we couldnt open the freezer door. It would get stuck.) So, we called out the repair guy and he said he had never seen this issue before and basically had to replace the whole flap and parts. Sweet. It was fixed and cost was covered! Well, about 5 months later, it happened again! Ah, they got it fixed yet again. Well, another six months later and after the warranty expired (lucky us), the fridge completely stopped cooling. (And it just happened to be Halloween, not a great day for a house issue.) So, we had to remove all our perishable food and place it in a cooler (which works hundred times better than Maytag products), and move all frozen food to a family members house 15 minutes away (luckily!). We were also super lucky we found a repair company that could come out at 5pm the next day, which happened to be a Friday! Awesome company (Conners Repair in Metro-Detroit). He concluded the defrost board was broken, meaning it was freezing and creating frost and then not defrosting, clogs the vents and not allowing circulation to occur. He was shocked when he found out we only had this fridge for 2 years and said this is something that normally happens in 20-year old fridges. I then decided to call Maytag and nicely requested a refund for the issue. I was told no due to the warranty expiring and also because we didnt use a Maytag repair company. I didnt want to wait a week as I thought this was something that needed immediate attention. I also am not sure why it matters who you get to fix your fridge. I have an invoice for proof of the issue and the repairman even said hed call to verify the issue. I don’t understand why I have to pay for something that was not properly produced, and not to mention the time out of my schedule to deal with Maytags issues. I now know not to buy any Maytag products due to the lack quality. I guess I learned the hard way.

In July 2012 I purchased a Maytag BTM standard door refrigerator from Home Depot. Approx. 2 weeks from the 1 yr. Standard warranty July 2013, my refrigerator started cycling like every 20 minutes and loud popping noises started occurring. 1st service tech would only stay 15 minutes & did not want to stick around to hear the noise. Ran the standard tests and said everything was fine. That was around Aug. 2013. So I put up with it for a few more months and finally the popping noise was getting louder. 2nd service guy (Jan. 24, 2014) got to hear my video recording of the refrigerator cycling and loud popping noise. He replaced a bad dul part (Note: they all wanted to blame it on our ice maker that we never ever hooked up). Oops...wrong diagnosis. Whatever he replaced stopped the constant cycling pattern but now the popping noise is getting even louder like a shotgun going off. 3rd repair guy (Feb. 20, 2014) tells us that is normal and recycle product material is not that good nowadays?? I pay a $1000.00 for a noisy refrigerator and they say it is a normal sound. I dont think so. The refrigerator is now popping so hard that the right side of my refrigerator that faces the open is now buckling due to the compression of the heating and cooling which is causing the loud popping noise. If you rub your hand down the side of refrigerator you can feel the waves forming on the side of the refrigerator. Trying to get a Maytag rep out here. Something needs to be done about the production of these bad appliances.

We bought a Maytag refrigerator serial # K11101146 and model # MBL2258XES1 on 5/7/2011. We started seeing puddles on the floor about a month ago coming from the bottom freezer. The warranty on the refrigerator was only good for a year. We investigated it further online and saw that a lot of other people were having the same problem. We found a video on Youtube on the solution, which was to tear the bottom frig apart (which is a pain and takes about 3 hours to complete) and to thaw out all the ice accumulated on the coils and run hot water down the drain until that thaws out. It makes a real mess. Now we see that this will probably have to be done again and again from others online who are having the same problem. We never had this problem with any of our refrigerators or any problem with them for that matter. Our last one was a 15-year old Amana and we wanted a more energy efficient refrigerator. We bought this one at Home Depot thinking that this one would last us for the rest of our lives. We are in our mid 60s now. This should not be happening at all especially as much as we paid for the refrigerator. I contacted Maytag and they more or less said, “Sorry about your luck.” I hope something can be done about this, especially for the amount of complaints filed. Unfortunately I did not take pictures but if it happens again, which I understand from other complaints that it will. Thank you.

I had six service calls, one was a few months after purchase when under warranty for loud noise. I bought it in 08 and since then during the last 6 months, its freezing in the refrigerator. Service person is upset. I contacted corporate and they do not care and told me I should have bought their warranty. Yes, they had to be here when it was under warranty. Still freezing, they played with air hoses, replaced the temp panel and did everything they can, with no results. Theyre giving it one more try and it is going to be hooked up to the Silverado and put on I-75 with a sign on it. Do not buy from this company. Terrible service. I emailed CEO and no response. I just tossed a tomato and strawberry on the tile floor. Yes, buy American. They moved their plant from Indiana (union) to I think TN for non-union. Well, get what you pay for and the employees get what they are paid for. I work in the building business and everyone knows not to buy this product! Just throwing your money away. One good thing is if you like frozen beverages, this is the product to buy! Never again! Receipts in hand! Romney probably owns the stock! LOL

After the 4th service call Maytag wanted a 2nd company to look at it. So on July 27th A&E out of Bristol, PA came out. He checked it out and said its not serviceable because theres a leak somewhere in the casing. Had to call KYW 3, On Your Side, they helped me get some progress. Jacqueline from corporate called and said they would replace it. It started on July 3 and now August 13 and still no fridge. Had my Maytag washer fixed, small problem. Parts came in a box marked Whirlpool for a Maytag washer from a Sears Warehouse. Plus the mechanic said my Maytag refrigerator is made by Amana. Buy American?

Bought a Maytag refrigerator/freezer 18 months ago. The freezer went bad. The first repair guy said it needed a new computer board which wasnt covered. Called Maytag, they wanted another repair service to look at it. He said it needed a new evaporator. We have now spent $250 to be told the repair will cost another $500. Maytag will make a goodwill gesture because we are a nonprofit business to cover the part only so we will still be out another $300. This is unacceptable for a relatively new Maytag. Obviously they can no longer be counted on to back their equipment. Very disappointing.

On the 11/25/16 bought a refrigerator at Home Depot. Beside that the first was not called off, wait for another month 12/31/16 for the other refrigerator the problem are. I file a complaint because Maytag left me a message refrigerator half a price. Now they deny when I have proof.

The Maytag MFI2568AES refrigerators ice maker is broken and we cannot get a replacement unit. Whirlpool who now owns Maytag is of no assistance. The unit is two years old. I understand planned obsolescence but this is ridiculous.

We are on our 2nd Maytag refrigerator in 6 years and both units have failed. Maytag will not stand behind their product and the service company declined to come out to look at the unit because we were upset and contacting the BBB. So we have spent thousands on 2 refrigerator units that have lasted 2.5 to 3 years a piece. If I could give no stars I would and I would advise to look at other companies and models.

Has anyone talked to an attorney to see if a class action can be filed? My fridge is leaking, sheets of ice on floor of freezer, and ice maker doesn’t work. Looks like it’s the norm for these. Please post if you have spoken with an attorney. If no one has, I am going to.

MF12569YEM2 - Purchased refrigerator less than 2 1/2 years ago, also started having issues with ice forming in bottom freezer and leaking on to floor. I shut the water source off to the water/ice feature, but it didnt solve the problem. After getting on this site and seeing the issue is quite widespread it seems that it should be considered a manufacturing defect. This is the second (actually third) Maytag Refrigerator we have had, one had actually needed to be replaced about 13 years ago because of electrical problem which service man said could cause it to catch fire. The replacement (different model) worked fine for about 11 years... so we decided to try Maytag again... WHAT A MISTAKE! After reading about the multiple problems we can look forward to and endless service calls I too would never purchase any Maytag or Whirlpool appliances in the future...maybe the company should think about the impact on lost consumers!

Approximately one week ago, the display on my fridge began to flash and ice door flap continuously opens and closes. Upon researching the issue, it seems to be a very common issue and a known defect. One in which was apparently a recall at one point. I was told by a Maytag representative that the recall was from 2007 to 2009 and has since expired. Expired? Its a known defect and should be the responsibility of Maytag to provide the parts and labor to repair the fridge. I asked for a supervisor and was told that one would contact me within 24 hours. Well, about a week later, I never received that call so I called Maytag again. This time I was told by the maytag representative and a supervisor that there was no recall and that it was a Quality issue. A play with words, in my opinion. Anyhow, regardless of the title the issue was given, I was told I would be responsible for the repairs and costs. I attempted to look up the recall on Maytags website and had seen the last two letters of the serial number to my fridge listed under the recall, but when I tried to investigate further, the site referred me to the 800 phone number I had been calling. Now, had this been an issue that was not a known defect and apparently a recall, I wouldnt be writing on this site right now. But, because it is a known defect that maytag is aware of, I think its Maytags responsibility to pay for the parts and labor for my fridge.

We have a model MF12269VEMS. Approx 3 years old. Ice maker and water dispenser work great. Fridge works well. We have experienced over the last 6 months a buildup of ice that forms inside the freezer under the drawers. If we dont catch it every 4-5 days we cannot open the drawers as the ice catches the bottom plastic drawers. I called Maytag directly and the pleasant young lady told me after checking that it did not seem to be an issue...clearly after looking into the internet I am not alone! Maybe someone can email me a fix?

In 2006, my wife and I purchased a new Maytag refrigerator, the model type with the freezer in a drawer near the floor and the drawer is under the main door of the fridge. The thing has a sealed system and has a freon leak which makes it nearly impossible and not financially prudent to try to fix. Two repairmen were out and I spent $200 for them to tell me the same bad news. Its unbelievable that this junk wouldnt even last ten years. What is this, Russia? Ive heard some of their awful appliance experience stories and now this can join them. The reliable Maytag repairman who never has anything to - you know the one. He is probably dead. Hes not really the one to blame here though, it is the reliability of Maytag that is dead and will remain so for as long as this company is alive. Dont ever trust or buy Maytag if you care about making your investment in new appliances last! Dont do it, people!
