I bought a new Maytag refrigerator 5 years ago and it has been nothing but a headache. Ive spent more than $700 getting it repaired. The Maytag repairman is no longer lonely, hes really busy. These units are crap and the company does not stand behind their products.

Maytag bottom freezer, 4 years old, ice forms on bottom of freezer. Water melts all over floor every few days. Please add my name to class action suit if/when one comes.

I need a new circuit board for a $2500 refrigerator. It was Saturday night of a holiday weekend when the ice chute started opening and closing and lights on door panel flashed like crazy. I called Maytag, who set up a service appointment for me for Monday. The tech came at 6pm and said there was nothing he could do without a part from Maytag and left. I proceeded to throw out all spoiled food and load a cooler with ice. I called Maytag, and they said it will take about a week to receive the part and have service. I have children in the house, and we live in Miami. I said that I would pay for overnight delivery of the part, and they told me it couldnt be done. I called this morning for a tracking number of the part, and they told me that it wasnt sent out as of yet. According to the internet search, this is a problem with a considerable amount of model number MF12568AES, and I should have been notified by the company. They claim it is a special project, not a recall.

Maytag Performa Side by Side fridge PSD262LHEB door handle pulled off for the second time since purchase but this time, the handle knocked over a pot of hot water on me. I am just relieved that I have no small children anymore. I would consider this very dangerous in any household. The first time, it was covered under warranty along with the broken ice maker. The repairman stated that he had replaced many handles and due to design flaw, they would not last long.

My Maytag Refrigerator Freezer model MFI2569VEM4 started leaking water into base under bottom freezer door. It then fills up and freezes into solid sheet of ice and overflows and leaks into floor. Ruins Hardwood Floor. BEWARE!!!!! I have now seen several similar complaints online. Mine started doing this less than 2 years old!!!!!

We purchased a Maytag refrigerator (freezer on the bottom) in August 2012. In 2014 we had to have the freezer repaired (defrost drain) which cost $153. This month, July 2015, we had to have the refrigerator repaired for another $293. The problem with the refrigerator the repairman told us is the control board (p/n W10503278). He stated that they didnt make the first board very well and hes been replacing this part quite frequently for customers. I only spent $799 on the refrigerator and I already have $446 into it. That is half of what I paid for it! I wouldnt recommend Maytag to anybody!

On Nov 1, 2018 - 14 months after purchasing this top of the line refrigerator - the compressor broke and the freezer stopped functioning. I called Maytag Service who said the soonest they could repair it was Nov 12 - 12 days after it broke. Also they said my 10 year warranty didnt apply unless I had proof of purchase. I said I registered my product online when I bought it but they said they had no record. So they had to charge me full cost of service and parts which would be $1000-$1500.I then called LOWES SERVICE ADVANTAGE - I really like Lowes by the way - and they verified my proof of purchase and that in addition to the appliance warranty I have a 5 YEAR mechanical parts repair warranty through LOWES. Thank goodness I purchased the service warranty from LOWES because Maytag was NOT honoring theirs! So then a repair person from FAST APPLIANCE REPAIR INC came to fix the refrigerator and said because it was the compressor he couldnt repair it so I had to wait a few days later for the COMPRESSOR SPECIALIST to come out. The compressor specialist came and said he didnt have any in stock so had to order one.Six days later - Nov 19 - the compressor arrived at my house. I called FAST APPLIANCE REPAIR and asked for someone to schedule an installation. I said Im RETIRED and can do it any time. They said the soonest they could install it is NOVEMBER 28 - ONE MONTH AFTER IT BROKE. So now Ive lost two large drawers of frozen food that spoiled. I have no refrigerator this week for my birthday and for Thanksgiving. I have to wait another 9 days to get it fixed. I am NOT HAPPY. I am sharing this experience so anyone considering buying this or any other MAYTAG product will think very carefully before making their purchase. Also, be sure to buy from Lowes and get the Lowes service plan for any appliance. Ill try to update this if and when my refrigerator gets repaired.

Maytag Frenchdoor MFX2570AEM3 - Was initially really excited with this brand new fridge. We have not even fully paid it off, as we bought with credit at Home Depot, and it continuously leaks water from freezer! I have taken everything out, defrosted, spent about two hours pushing hot water through the freezer drain with a turkey baster and it was only about four days before I had a puddle on my floor again! We have bought quite a few maytag products before, but after this fridge, probably never again! If there is a recall or a lawsuit pending, please, someone advise me of either.

I bought a fridge, model number MBF1958, its a top fridge-bottom freezer. The freezer part leaked and spilled water that then froze onto the bottom of the freezer, which of course froze. I discovered this 1 month after the 1 year warranty ended. Maytag gave me a courtesy repair service guaranteed for 90 days. Of course, 2 weeks after the 90-day period ended, I have the same problem again.

I am extremely disappointed with Maytag and the representatives I spoke with this evening. One laughed after I told her I was 7 months pregnant and without a fridge for a week after owning it less than a year. I was repeatedly and curtly told, We dont cover that, when I asked only to replace the recent food I had purchased. After having to request a manager several times, I was put on the phone with Dana ID ** who said she would not be able to help with any food despite the delay of a week for repairs to our fridge. However, she could extend our warranty for 6 months.The only reason we were able to get someone out as early as we did was because we knew a licensed Maytag service repair company. Otherwise, we would still be waiting for someone to come out to tell us it would be another week before repairs. The originally assigned service repair company by Maytag did not return our call. There was no concern or empathy from the Maytag representatives that I was pregnant and could have eaten food that was not cooled to prevent bacteria growth that would harm me and my baby.Even their service repair technician recommended to contact them about the spoiled food since it was impossible for the repairs to be completed before the end of the week. We will never purchase Maytag again. The appliance failed with no warning in less than a year, and the representatives made no effort to resolve our issue of being without food for a week.

We bought a Maytag Bottom Freezer Model MBB1952HEW in 2006. We have already replaced the relay, two years ago, now the compressor is going. I have seen recalls of the top freezer on the internet but not on the bottom freezer. It is concerning when you pull your refrigerator out from the wall as to how warm/hot it is back there. We were told it would be cheaper to buy a new refrigerator versus replacing the compressor. We are so disappointed in how much money we have stuck into this refrigerator for how old it is. I would expect a refrigerator from a reputable company to last longer than 6 years.

We purchased a refrigerator in December 2010 with a 12-month warranty. Since the refrigerator was delivered, we have experienced nothing but problems. Most recently, there was a problem with the auto defrost causing us to lose all our food stored. It also caused water damage to our floor. We scheduled maintenance with a contracted company through MayTag. After three scheduled visits, which made me miss 3 and a half days of work resulting in an additional loss of over $300, our refrigerator is still broken and they just want us to schedule another maintenance visit. When calling Maytag customer service we are literally told, “your loss, there is nothing we can do to resolve your issue, we can only continue to send out maintenance.” I am so disappointed in this company, the product, the customer service, maintenance service etc.

I love my new fridge! It has all the bells and whistles and looks/works great! My ice maker is the bomb! Best design Ive ever seen!

I bought a brand new Maytag bottom freezer fridge in May 2005. The first thing to go was the timing switch. I lost all contents of the fridge and freezer. The next to go was the compressor. Again, all the contents of the fridge and freezer were destroyed. This was after the 5 year warranty was complete. The cosat of repairs is around $800.00, which is the cost of a new fridge. I emailed someone from customer service, who replied how happy they are to hear from me, and how I can call anytime. I called customer service, and spoke to a supervisor. The fridge was built in the USA, but cannot tell me where the parts are from. No one seems to get, that I am disgusted that an appliance would last only as long as the warranty lasts. Oh, and the repairs are only covered for 90 days. My parents have a 62 year old RCA chest freezer that is still going strong. The lesson is, dont get rid of your old appliances. They may use a lot of energy, but they last. I will never buy from Maytag, ever again.

Like many others Ive read about online, our Maytag fridge model MFI2269VEW5 with bottom mount freezer has ice forming at the bottom of the freezer compartment. The ice then melts and runs onto the kitchen floor. At this point, I am able to prevent this leakage problem by removing the 1/2-inch layer of ice that builds up about once a week. Using a stiff plastic spatula, I am sometimes able to remove the ice in one large sheet but usually it breaks up and has to be removed in pieces. I have seen several videos online showing how this problem can be fixed but as a pensioner with limited income, I am sure the expense of a repairman would be prohibitive. I could likely make the suggested repairs myself but because of a knee replacement, I am not able to kneel for any length of time so that is out of the question. Besides, when we purchased this fridge 3 years ago, we expected it to run trouble free for the rest of our days. This is obviously a design problem and Maytag should be covering the cost for all repairs. However, it is a sad reality that Maytag and their owner, the Whirlpool Corporation is only interested in making a profit to satisfy their stock holders. They apparently only pay lip service to making quality products that last and customer satisfaction seems to be a thing of the past.

We purchased a Maytag stainless steel French door refrigerator from Home Depot in 2011. The thermostat control (a circuit board made in China) broke and was replaced in 2012 by a certified repair person. He reminded me to dust underneath regularly, which Ive done. A couple of weeks ago I noticed some darkening of my wood floor to the left of the refrigerator and so I pulled it out from the wall a bit. What I saw was that my entire floor was wet and falling apart under the left side and when I looked into the freezer, I pulled out the bottom basket and the bottom was covered in about an inch of ice.I called, posted on Facebook and was put on hold several times for as long as 20 minutes before I hung up. I called Home Depot and asked them to intervene and speak to a rep from Maytag. I have heard nothing. There is black mold in the corner of my kitchen and a soaked floor that may go way beyond. I googled the leak and apparently this is very common with Maytag French Door refrigerators. I have a meeting with an attorney. Getting through to Maytag is seemingly impossible unless you have hours to wait on the phone. We have been getting sick for months and not knowing the cause.

We bought a Maytag refrigerator serial # K11101146 and model # MBL2258XES1 on 5/7/2011. We started seeing puddles on the floor about a month ago coming from the bottom freezer. The warranty on the refrigerator was only good for a year. We investigated it further online and saw that a lot of other people were having the same problem. We found a video on Youtube on the solution, which was to tear the bottom frig apart (which is a pain and takes about 3 hours to complete) and to thaw out all the ice accumulated on the coils and run hot water down the drain until that thaws out. It makes a real mess. Now we see that this will probably have to be done again and again from others online who are having the same problem. We never had this problem with any of our refrigerators or any problem with them for that matter. Our last one was a 15-year old Amana and we wanted a more energy efficient refrigerator. We bought this one at Home Depot thinking that this one would last us for the rest of our lives. We are in our mid 60s now. This should not be happening at all especially as much as we paid for the refrigerator. I contacted Maytag and they more or less said, “Sorry about your luck.” I hope something can be done about this, especially for the amount of complaints filed. Unfortunately I did not take pictures but if it happens again, which I understand from other complaints that it will. Thank you.

Our Maytag refrigerator is leaking water all over my kitchen floor to the point that my floor tile has lifted. The ref. is a French door with water and ice in the door and freezer on the bottom. We have been cleaning up puddles of water at least several times a day. I see that this is not an isolated problem, as others have complained about this defect doing the same thing with their Maytag refs. Why hasnt ConsumerAffairs demanded a recall on these expensive defective refrigerators to date? I am truly disgusted.

MTB2656DEB - Well my fridge is now about 12 years old and from the beginning it was horrible ice as always forming under freezer door. The cold cut draw broke 3 times with its cheap junkie plastic. I hated it from the beginning. I have owned a GE double door with ice maker for 26 years. Wish I had kept it.

At two different times today I was left on hold for thirty minutes each. I was told the compressor only had a year warranty on it, cant do anything about it. I then went online to Maytag web page and it read only on compressor the warranty had ten years. I called them after a very long wait and was told that was just started with the ten year warranty. I have owned many different refrigerators never heard of compressor only lasting 5 years. The serviceman who came out to tell me compressor was bad said the name Maytag used to stand for something but now stands for junk. Worse customer service, worse product.

I bought a brand new Maytag bottom freezer fridge on Aug. 12th, 2012. The main compressor went out on Memorial Day of 2013. I contacted the store I bought it from; they referred me to a local repairman who fixes Maytag. I talked to him and told him the problem along with the make & model of mine. He ended up telling me what exactly the problem was, & there were about 5 people ahead of me with the same fridge, & same problem... all main compressor problems. Check this out. The compressor part is on back order... so now I have no fridge, & Im stuck with this piece of crap, until MAYTAG finds a compressor to ship to the local repairman. - Last Maytag product I will ever own in my lifetime!!!

Have had it for 2 years now and its leaked out the bottom since it was 6 mos. old. Now the ice maker has fried a motor and were having to repair it already. Cant believe we spent a small fortune on this fridge and are having constant problems with it.

On 11-10-10 I purchased a top of the line Maytag fridge. All had been great till we needed a part in Nov. of 2014! After nearly 3 months of searching they tell us that they no longer make parts for this unit and I am out of luck! Fridge works great but the center seal is broken (french door - Mullin) they quit making the part???? I am beyond angry! Will never buy Maytag again!!!

I purchased a Maytag side-by-side refrigerator in May 2010 to replace a 20-month-old Whirlpool fridge with a dead compressor. The now 14-month-old Maytag has a dead compressor. I have been told by the repairmen that I have come to know that the compressors used in these units are of poor quality and do not last. That must work out well for the appliance industry if consumers must replace a $1,000 + unit every year or two.To Maytags credit, I spoke to customer service and they agreed to cover the parts and labor for the repair even though it is two months past warranty. Maybe I can get another year out of this reliable appliance. I am told that all of the major brand appliances use the same compressor.

On the 11/25/16 bought a refrigerator at Home Depot. Beside that the first was not called off, wait for another month 12/31/16 for the other refrigerator the problem are. I file a complaint because Maytag left me a message refrigerator half a price. Now they deny when I have proof.

My fridge and freezer got warm and compressor is not running. It is not even 8 years old. I replaced start relay and start capacitor. It cost me $75, from Maytag store. I worked two days the bam! It’s broke again. It’s a Maytag junk, now what? I have two kids in college. It will cost me $100 for a service call. Our food is ruined.

I recently purchased a Maytag French door, bottom freezer. It was delivered and set up by delivery men and when they pulled out the bottom freezer the bin and tray were missing. This refrig should have never been shipped (per Home Depot) and also delivery men. They called Maytag and ordered the missing part. 5 days later it arrives and is not the right bin. I purchased the 5 year warranty contract and after calling 3 numbers and getting shuffled around, they told me it should also have a slide out. They set up appt. for this Thurs. I wanted to file a claim for loss freezer meat and was told Miss, your 5 year warranty does not start until the 1 year manufacturer warranty is up. She also proceeded to tell me that no refund will be issued and they are NOT responsible when their product leaves their plant and gets to me. REALLY... The refrigerator was not properly inspected and still shipped. Not covered under warranty and fridge is 5 days old and have had issues from date of delivery. I will never make another purchase of a MAYTAG and their customer service could use more training and a course is representing their company in a much better way.

Well I like all the other people have the very same problem. Ruined floor from sheet of ice that forms on the bottom tray daily. I was told I need a new main board which I understand is about $500.00. I am 55 years old and this was my first brand new fridge. I am so so upset. I grew up with the whole Maytag repairman commercials where he was so lonely cause he never had any repairs to do. All my life I grew up with these commercials. I thought I was buying the best. What a disappointment. It has been in my living room for 2 years. I keep thinking something wonderful is going to happen. Now I have to pay someone to haul it off. Great.

Our refrigerator is 2 years old and still under warranty. The ice maker had to be replaced. Now the water leaks on the floor. The deli drawer cover broke and when you get ice out of the ice dispenser it flies all over and goes on the floor. Our dealer has been fairly helpful.

In July, 2014. I bought brand new Maytag refrigerator with bottom freezer. After 4 years, compressor leaked, and not cooling at all. I tried to check warranty, and Whirlpool Canada said that only specific model has 10-year warranty on compressor issue and mines does not have. So frustrating. Simply dont buy Whirlpool product. This is totally garbage and not reliable company. LG or Samsung has 10-year warranty on compressor for every product.

I bought Maytag frost-free refrigerator last August 2006. But now, I noticed that ice builds up in the freezer. The product is only five years old but I was told by Whirlpool that they had discontinued making defrost heater. Ill bet you got the same response I did when the fridge was new. They claim there are NO KNOWN ISSUES. They actually told me they had NO RECORD of previous complaints with this issue. MAYTAG SUCKS! I wouldnt take a free appliance from them. Worst customer service possible and they take no responsibility for their ** design and problems. There should be a class action suit for this issue. IF ANYONE IS EVEN CONSIDERING A MAYTAG APPLIANCE... Do yourself a favor and think twice.

Maytag model MBF1958XEQ1 frost build up and ice build up bottom freezer 2011 model. Recently refrigerator not able to stay cold. Contacted Associated Service Corp. because my fridge had a ten year warranty on the compressor only. It cost me $377 dollars to have a service tech change the circuit board and remove a rubber drain valve that was blocking the excess water drain to the evaporator tray. It is working well now but will keep looking for ice build up.

I have a Maytag refrigerator that is 7 years old. It works fine except it needs a new freezer door gasket. In trying to get the part so it can be repaired I discovered that they had chosen to discontinue production of this part. I can no longer get it anywhere. They were the most unhelpful customer service I have ever worked with. They refused to try to find a part for another model that may work. They refused to offer a discount on a replacement product. They even refused to give me a phone number to talk to management. I had always been a loyal customer to their brand prior to this but I will never again purchase a Whirlpool or Maytag product. I dont expect not to have an issue but I do expect the ability to be supported in obtaining a commonly replaced part for a major appliance that is less than 10 years old.

I purchased this refrigerator 1 1/2 yrs. ago. The refrigerator stopped getting cold about 3 months after warranty expired. I called Maytag company and told them how disappointed with their product and also how angry I was after spending $1500 only 18 months ago and now it is useless! They kept asking me if I bought the extended warranty and I said I didnt think I would have to after buying a brand new product. And then it breaks so soon!! And now they want me to spend an additional $359 to get the warranty... what a racket! She told me to look under the fridge for leaks. Sorry I cant, Im disabled. She said too bad and would have service man call me but that would be even more expensive. Woops, disconnected.

This is the 3rd time my Maytag refrigerator has gone out on me and its only 7 years old! Its always the same thing, my refrigerator side starts getting warmer and warmer while the freezer starts forming crystallized ice. Both times its broken down in the past it has been the defrost timer. One service man said Maytag is not the reliable company it used to be and I would be better off buying a brand from Sears (Whirlpool or Kenmore) cant remember. Anyway, each of those services was close to $300 and now Im faced with another service call. We paid $2,800 for a refrigerator we thought would last decades. Well never buy Maytag again! I wish Maytag would own up to its cheap parts and send replacements to its customers with instructions on how to install!

Purchased new Maytag Refrigerator from Mannys in Western MA. Top freezer, over $900.00. Never has worked correctly. We need to turn the freezer way up to freeze the ice cream and it forms frost all around the freezer with mini icicles hanging! But even worse... no matter what setting you put the refrigerator on it ruins your food by freezing everything. The only safe spot is in the deli drawer. I have thrown away hundreds of dollars worth of food that is destroyed because it froze in the refrigerator.A service man from Mannys came and ordered parts. He came back and said they were the wrong parts. Now he says that the refrigerator has a problem and Maytag is trying to come out with a plan on how to fix it. I talked with Maytag (took 44 minutes to get someone on the phone). The manager in service was rude, said they dont replace food and they would work on fixing it. 2 weeks later... no calls from either place. I called Mannys and they said they should have some news by next week. In the meantime I dont have a refrigerator that works! NEVER BUY A MAYTAG REFRIGERATOR!!! It is still under warranty and I asked for a new refrigerator... both Mannys and Maytag said no way.

I purchased my which I thought was a stainless steel French door refrigerator in 2011 that I was getting a great product. Not even 3 months later I was using my warranty to stop the leak from my freezer now. Mind you, I paid $1500 so I got it fixed. 3 months later I called for repair again... Getting annoyed because this time the freezer came off track. 6 months later were chopping ice chunks up to stop the leaking on the floor. This lasted until last October keeping towels and old clothes around the fridge to soak up the water. This is so embarrassing especially if you have company over. You have a pile of crap soaking up water. I am a wife and mother of 7 children. I cant afford to just go buy another fridge. This isnt fair... I spent hard earned money on that magnet attracting stainless steel fridge and Maytag could care less. Im so disappointed and broke. Now I have to scrap it.

We bought a Maytag French Door 21 cu. ft. refrigerator in 2008. 2010, 3 repairs later, the ice machine went out, we went back to ice trays. Now the compressor died. The old ad of bored Maytag repairmen cause they never need repairs is bogus.

My five year old refrigerator freezer was leaking due to a corner filler part left in the the freezer compartment that lodged over the drain hole in the freezer. It cost me $232.90 to have a repair technician dig it out. MAYTAG accepts no responsibility for poor inspection, workmanship or quality control and they will not reimburse my fee.

Me and my wife bought a Maytag refrigerator from Home Depot. The top half freezes up in a big way and it gets real frosted up I have to pull it apart every 2 months to defrost it. The bottom half starts to get warm if I dont do that. I will not ever buy another Maytag refrigerator again.

Horrible Refrigerator MSB27C2XAM00. I bought this refrigerator November 2013. Over the past 5 months I have made over 10 calls to Maytag customer service. Each phone call averages 30-45 minutes in length. In total I have and have had 6 service repair visits. Within 4 weeks of acquiring the unit, the letters on the ice/water dispenser wore off. They replaced the panel and within 4 weeks the letters wore off on the replacement panel. The subsequent calls made to customer service were regarding slow water dispensing and shrinking ice cubes. I was advised in order to maintain water speed and decent sized ice cube production I would have to replace the filter every time the water dispensing slows, which is on average every 4 to 6 weeks (each filter costs $40).When I asked why I would have to change the filter so frequently when the packaging instructions with the water filter states you can expect an average of 6 months use or 200 gallons, (mind you we are a family of 2 adults and one child under the age of 10 surely not consuming 200 gallons of water within 4 weeks), Maytag advised me to attain a whole house water filtration system. I was told that the water supply to my home must require extra filtration which is why the filters are not lasting. I asked if other NYC residents have made such complaints. Maytag advised they cannot share this information for confidentiality reasons. I told the rep that I did not want specific names/address of the complainants. I just wanted to know if there were any other similar complaints! If its the NYC water supply I would have to believe there would be similar complaints. Maytag would not advise.They will not budge in replacing the unit. After spending $1,400 on this refrigerator I am now expected to invest $500 annually on water filters in order for the refrigerator to work properly. I was also advised that if another service tech came to my home and the issue was found to be the same I would be responsible for payment of the service call. I did my research before purchasing this Maytag product. I ultimately selected Maytag for their reputation. I am so disappointed with this unit and with the company that I will never purchase another Maytag appliance and I will advise everyone I know to never purchase from this company again. Such a disappointment!

I bought a brand new refrigerator and about four months into using it, the freezer door began to become loose and opened by itself automatically. It also started to leak so I called the company continuously looking for a solution. However, they never resolved my problem. The company sent a technician. However he was unable to fix the problem. The technician said it was fine and did absolutely nothing. And now I am still waiting, but now your company says my warranty is up EVEN THOUGH I called much earlier and your company did NOTHING to help me. I need someone who can handle my problem. Ive been using your products for many years, and have always been satisfied by it. But this refrigerator has changed my perspective. I hope you give this a peace of mind and treat your other customers better.

I purchased a bottom freezer Maytag refrigerator two years ago. It recently began leaking water onto the floor from the freezer compartment. I just had it serviced and the serviceman told me that it was a common problem. The duck-billed check valve gets plugged. This is a problem with Maytag, Jenn-Air, Whirlpool, Amana, and KitchenAid refrigerators as they all share the same manufacturer. There is a service bulletin out on this that lists hundreds of model numbers affected by the problem (Technical Service Pointer #: W10632338). I think it is criminal that consumers are expected to pay hundreds of dollars to have this manufacturers defect repaired. I tried to find a place with the government to file a complaint, but wasnt clear who had jurisdiction. Perhaps a class action suit is in order. There have to be millions of consumers potentially facing this problem. Anyone with any knowledge of how to further pursue this defect, please comment.

Our 3-year-old Maytag refrigerator, MFF2558VEAZ, is forming a sheet of ice on the bottom of the freezer. The ice partially melts for some reason, and then water leaks out at both bottom corners, usually once a day. Others have reported the same problem. Contact with a repair person is yet to be done. This must represent a factory defect.

I’m so disappointed in this refrigerator! It does not keep a steady temperature. It’s only 3 years old and will not buy another Maytag. I do like the freezer on the bottom but it also does not keep a steady temperature.

We have a similar problem to the others who gave reviews on their still NEW Maytag refrigerators. Ours isnt even four years old and several weeks ago we started smelling a chemical odor which then permeated all of our food in the refrigerator and freezer. We didnt buy the extended warranty because we have owned a few refrigerators and all have lasted just fine for 15+ years with no problems. So I called Maytag. They said for a charge of $369.95 they would schedule a repair and would cover the service call, parts and repair and provide an 12 month warranty. If the service call results in an inability to repair the refrigerator, they will refund the full amount of $369.95. So I asked if Maytag would then replace the refrigerator, and the rep said we have to start with the service call before they would discuss any type of refund or replacement. Im angry and disappointed in Maytag. Its a good thing we have a spare refrigerator in our basement. What a hassle! Weve already had to throw away over $100 in food that picked up that horrible odor. Shame on Maytag!

My $1500 2 yr old Maytag mbf2258Dem refrigerator stopped cooling properly (wont freeze). The icemaker was the slowest I have ever had. That may have been the problem when I bought it. The Maytag Repairman came out and said that even with Maytag sending me a new compressor (under warranty) this unit was not worth fixing. I called Maytag and they said sorry there was nothing they would do. So l looked up every review I could find... and this refrigerator is just bad. Not Worth Fixing. So Maytag deceived me. On the front of the door it says 10 year compressor warranty. Thats a big sales feature! They know that they have a problem. This is one bad company!

The freezer leaks all over the floor and the company will not stand by their product. When I called the company they said they have had to upgrade a part called the drain tube kit because of this problem but did not put a recall. They know that this problem will occur just about the time the warranty runs out. I bet the wife of the CEO of this company has a very expensive good brand of refrigerator. Stand by your product and pay for the repairs and labor to get it fixed and put out a recall. LIFE IN AMERICA!!!

My husband and I purchased a Maytag stainless steel French door/freezer bottom ice making fridge from Hhgregg in Brown Deer, WI and 8 months later (now), Ive been told that my food that is spoiled, cant be replaced and my service for the fridge wont be done until next week! I have 5 kids and a husband. This has turned our world upside down. I called them and spoke to a Nicole and she said they cant do anything for us, but we can try to contact the diamond repair service at 269-927-2519 to see if they can get us in sooner. I asked for a refund for the fridge and she said no, the 10 warranty only counts for repairs... I am so angry that I didnt research Maytag before now. I gave the Whirlpool fridge to the delivery guys of Hhgregg and I had that for 18 years and it never went out on me. If anyone is reading this and is upset as well, let us get together and start a class action suit!

We bought a Maytag Refrigerator, Model MSB27C2XAMSS from BrandsMart on 2/4/2015. Today, I made my 4th Service Call for the Ice Maker not making ice. The service department has replaced the icemaker, repaired it and still does not work. When I call for service I usually have to wait 5-7 days before I can have a technician come to my home. Also, the refrigerator door does not close unless you push it completely to the refrigerator, unlike most refrigerators that I have had. I would never buy another Maytag refrigerator and certainly will make an informed and researched decision before buying another refrigerator. I am truly dissatisfied with this refrigerator and would suggest looking for other brands.

I bought a new refrigerator and when I plugged it in would not cool. I called and the authorized tech came and said the compressor was bad and the evaporator was rusted and hoses were greased up. I have now been informed that the warranty was void because it was put in a dental office and not a single home. I said since it was never used I would put it in a house. They said it was void and I was out of luck. I always thought maytag sold good products but this has convinced me to never buy a product from them again. It never worked and the tech said it should be replaced but they said he should never had told us this.

April 26, 2011, I purchased a Maytag top and bottom fridge from Home Depot. After a few days, I noticed frost starting to form in my frost-free freezer and the fridge wasnt really that cold. I adjusted the dials thinking that may do the trick. Nothing changed, it was all the same and instead, frost was thicker. I contacted Maytag, which by the way was taken over by Whirlpool. I told them my situation and since I had just bought the fridge, I wanted a new replacement. They told me things didnt work that way, that I had to honor the warranty. Fine, we are almost entering October now. I have had several services calls, I have written to the Better Business Bureau, I have lost a few hundred dollars worth of food for it would be full of ice and had to be thrown out, I have contacted the executive offices of Whirlpool but they, along with the Better Business Bureau are not doing a thing. Tomorrow, once again, I am having a service call and once again, I know the issue will not be fixed. All I wanted was to either get my money back, along with extra for the loss of food or for them to just exchange it for another one, since this one was purchased with a problem. I really dont think that its right that they are able to get away with this. Just looking at this page, I see that there are plenty of people with this same issue. What is being done about it? The performance of the refrigerator is disappointing. It was difficult to find someone to repair it when the freezer fan motor went out. It makes noise, shelf space is insufficient. Temperature mechanism often doesnt work properly.

The refrigerator is barely over two years old and the bottom pan fills with water, freezes and leaks out onto floor. Is a very common problem with these refrigerators and Maytag is happy to pay for the new part to fix it, but will not pay for any person to fix it. They have known this is a problem for a while, but will do nothing to fix it. They clearly do not stand behind their product with a known ongoing problem. The Maytag repairman is no longer not busy. Will never buy a Maytag appliance again! Will take the new part and fix it ourselves.

If the control panel light on your Ice2O refrigerator starts flashing you will learn about the Non-Customer Service of Maytag. The problem is the High Voltage Control Board. Maytag has been aware of this defective part since 2007. At one time Maytag was fixing these at no cost to the customer via a recall. Then conveniently in 2011 the Japanese tsunami wiped out the only plant in the universe that manufactures the part.Now out of the goodness of Maytag’s corporate heart they offer the customer $300 off of a $2300 replacement (Oh, I am so grateful). It is time for Maytag (Whirlpool) to accept responsibility for a defective product and recall this refrigerator with a replacement. In the meantime if you have this problem, my advice is to go out a buy a non-Maytag/Whirlpool product since Maytag/Whirlpool cannot be trusted to stand behind their products. Please share this post with family and friends to prevent others from experiencing Non-Customer Service.

I wish I had never bought a Maytag refrigerator! Nothing but problems. The ice maker does not work, water leaked 3 times onto our wood floor. Finally, I disconnected the control panel so I have an ice/water dispenser that is useless just like the refrigerator. I dont think the Maytag man is sitting around from lack of work, maybe laziness. I purchased a stainless steel (freezer bottom) Maytag refrigerator Model # MFI2670XEM0 in Oct 2012. Since then its been a nightmare. The repairman has been out four times, once being a week after I purchased it. It leaked and ruined my kitchen floor. Call Maytag, they didnt want to hear about it. As of this moment, I have three more things broken on the unit. My ice maker literally takes 3 days to make ice, the alarm on the door is broken, and the plastic crisper cracked and now will not stay in. Called Maytag again and they stated that they will not replace the item with one of equal value. They just keep repairing it. I will NEVER EVER buy another Maytag product again. I spent $1700 on this product and had faith in the Maytag product. That will never happen again. Shame on Maytag for not standing behind their products.

I built a new home in November of 2013 and filled my house with all brand new top of the line Maytag appliances. Almost a year and a half in, my $2500 refrigerator is broken and all my food is lost. They send a repair man out; and guess what, the warranty is expired. So they wanted me to pay $800+ to have my refrigerator repaired a year and a half after I purchased it. I cant believe they have no shame in sending out products with their name on it that only last 1 1/2 years! I would never treat anyone like they treat their customers. They hold no responsibility. Bought a refrigerator from Home Depot in November 2012 for a cost of $1,647.48. In August 2013 it stops making ice day 1, stops cooling & it is running nonstop, all lights on display go out day 2. Called Home Depot & was given another number to call, called that number was told someone would be out next day to look at it. Also told my warranty would expire in November & I needed to buy another warranty. Maytag customer service was very rude. If their product was any good why do I have to pay extra for another warranty. A $1,647.48 refrigerator that only lasts 9 months, REALLY!!! Do not purchase Maytag appliances if you dont want to lose your money. Shame on Home Depot for not standing behind their merchandise. I have an MSD2542VEB01 model refrigerator purchased slightly over two years ago. I have the same problem as many others, which is the plastic breaking on the shelves. The first time, it was within a year and the part was under warranty. It is now a year and a half later and one is broken beyond use and another is cracking again. Maytag refuses to help me as there is no “recall and the plastic is not available separately from the easily removable glass of the shelf. The least expensive price that I can find for the shelf is $107 and I need two of them. $214 (plus shipping) when all I need is two pieces of plastic? Be very careful when selecting your appliances.

Because the design is bad, the refrigerator has to be defrosted once a month. A home filled with Maytag appliances, these are all 4 years old and ready for the trash. Dont buy Maytag, it is crap. I bought a Maytag Refrigerator (Model No. MFT2672AEM10; Serial No. K31503192) on 05/13/2013 at LOWES. On 07/27/2013 my son got hospitalized due to some kind of infection. He had fever and diarrhea that didnt go away. We didnt know what caused it. When my wife was cleaning the refrigerator, she noticed that the ice bin container had a rusty screw and metal plate. Why is the ice bin screw/metal plate rusting? We informed Maytag about this issue and they replaced the ice bin. Now, the replacement ice bin is rusty again. I sent an e-mail to the Maytag Customer Service Manager on 04/20/2015 and was told that its no longer covered by the warranty. I informed the manager that this is a defective/flawed design/rusting part from the beginning and Maytag should have REDESIGNED it when I informed them first hand and not just replaced it with the same defective/flawed/rusting part. I told the manager that this is a safety concern and Maytag needs to do something about it. The Customer Service Manager I talked to didnt want to do anything about it.

We have had this refrigerator since January 2011. All was OK for 18 months. Then the lid to the deli drawer fell off, the plastic bar that holds the two drawers up broke (weve had to use roof shingles to prop them up) and another one of the plastic pieces crumbled. Now the ice maker wont work and the refrigerator makes a loud ticking noise. There are only two older adults here and we have not treated this appliance roughly. After reading all the complaints on this site, Im wondering if any of it is worth fixing. My GE refrigerator worked for almost 20 years.

Got woken up to the sound of my refrigerator ice lid flapping. Boy is it loud! Called Maytag and found out it was a recall so they will fix. They set up for someone to come out to fix the following week. That was a flop because they did not have the part. I waited 4 hours for someone to show to find out that Maytag scheduled the appointment for nothing - not only did they NOT have the part but they did not have a clue as to when it will come in. Time is valuable! Here we are 5 weeks later and my refrigerator is still flapping and loud. Has been calling Maytag for them to say that the part has been expedited. Well it has been expedited for more than 3 weeks now! Today they say that it will be another month before the part comes in! Not Good! This is such an inconvenience and Ive lost a lot of sleep over this flapping noise. Its an embarrassment when guests come over to our home! Tired of it!

I have done widespread reading and realize that the front panel flashing and a clanging noise coming from the fridge, as well as it not cooling or freezing or the water dispenser not working, is a common issue. My extended warranty had run out, and as I rely on the fridge given Im insulin-diabetic and have meds to store, I phoned Maytag to see if they would help regarding the part. No joy. It means that as I cannot to pay a repairman hundreds of dollars to repair it, I have to order the HV board myself and will attempt to fix it. I am hugely disillusioned with Maytag and would never recommend it to anyone.

Maytag fridge is a overpriced, ticking repair bomb. The fridge had issues with the compressor, control board (motherboard) and relay switch within a 12-month period. Customer service is weak in troubleshooting techniques and try to send the file over to a repairman. The repairman will show up at $80/hr + other fees and parts costing you approx $500, and still uncertainty that this fridge can breakdown at any time. Final advice: DONT BUY.

My refrigerator temperature control panel started flashing lights and the ice maker flap started opening and closing over and over. I checked online and there are numerous model #s doing the same thing, most all contacted Maytag, some were fixed for no charge. Some were not even though they admitted there was a defect in the electronic control panel. I was one of the ones they refused to fix because they said it was an older model but they fixed a 2006 model, a defective part is a defective part no matter the age especially if they know and admit there is a problem with the control panel.I cant understand why they wont take care of their problem, so now I have to spend over $300.00 to fix a problem that they made in manufacturing, that is not an outrageous amount, thank goodness, but I just dont understand why they wont stand behind their product when they can fix out for probably half that cost to take care of their problem. I want to document my experience with Maytag refrigerator model # 1958XEW1 and serial # K12947360. I purchase this refrigerator several years ago as a result of a recommendation of a general contractor who was doing kitchen remodeling work for me. After doing a brief online research on Maytag I went to Yale Electric a store in Boston to purchase a Maytag refrigerator. Worst mistake I ever made and I will never buy a Maytag product again (sad to say). This refrigerator has been leaking since the day it arrived from the store. Unfortunately for me I didnt notice the fridge leaking until after the warranty had expired (my bad). The leak was such as I could not isolate or say it was the fridge because the water would pool in an area that was away from the frig on my kitchen floor. One day by coincidence I actually saw the fridge leak so then I knew the water on my floor was coming from the fridge. I contacted Maytag who mentioned by that time my warranty had expired, however other people who had purchase this fridge model were experiencing the same problem. Maytag said that this leak problem could be fixed by changing the tubing located in the freezer section of the refrigerator to what they called a duckbill type of tubing. So I had that part sent to me and it was installed in the refrigerator freezer area. As you can imagine because I am writing this negative review that the water leak problem was not corrected and there is still water pooling on my floor from this refrigerator. I will never buy a Maytag product again and I wanted to share this experience with other potential buyers of Maytag products.

I am not complaining at all about my dealer. I am complaining that I also am like the many others with the French door fridge/freezer. The bottom of the freezer freezes up and water pours all over the floor. I thought that Maytag was a good appliance, but also had problems with the pump and drain on my washer. Both of these are only 2 1/2 years old.

The Maytag MFI2568AES refrigerators ice maker is broken and we cannot get a replacement unit. Whirlpool who now owns Maytag is of no assistance. The unit is two years old. I understand planned obsolescence but this is ridiculous.

We bought this refrigerator one year & 3 months ago & we have had various issues that are now no longer covered under the warranty. The pantry drawer has a peg on the side that is plastic & broke off on the right side. Will have to replace the whole right side panel. One of the door handles is coming loose which should be an easy fix, but its just annoying that it happened at all. Now the control panel is reading OFF/OFF & isnt responding at all. Tried unplugging for 10 secs, then plug it back in, but no luck. I cannot find any info online regarding this issue, so we will have to call Maytag. Hopefully, there is an easy resolution to this problem & we wont have to buy a new motherboard.

I purchased my Maytag 4 door refrigerator with the freezer at the bottom (model #MFX2570AEM) in December of 2012. A couple months ago it started leaking small amounts of water. I now notice that there is such a build-up of ice under the freezer drawer that it wont even close properly. I, like all the other consumers that have complained am fuming mad. This new refrigerator, which was delivered to my house on 9/20/17, is so loud that I cannot have a conversation in my kitchen. It is supposed to be energy efficient. I do not know how that is possible as it runs 50 out of every 60 minutes. I contacted their customer service about this appliance. They repeatedly put me on hold or disconnected me. If I could give lower than one star, I would. Learn from my mistake - dont purchase from this company.

Have 2 fridges (one regular and the other is a side-by-side, both were bought in 2006 at Future Shop. The small one is not freezing and the side-by-side ($2,200) is busted too (compressor wont start....). How can Maytag say that their product are reliable on TV??? A Fridges compressor should last at least 15 years !! Maytag, you should at least have the decency to pay for the compressor!

This Maytag refrigerator is very nice.. Sleek black with double doors and ice two ways and filtered water on the door which is very convenient. The filters are expensive but they last up to six months so that part isn’t too bad.

Control Panel going up and down and blinking constantly. Called Whirlpool - on hold for exactly 1 hour. They called service repair. 1-8-20 - Service Repair here and ordered 2 thermostats: 1 for freezer and 1 for refrigerator. 1-15-20 - Service Repair here to install 2 thermostats - At this time I purchased the extended warranty for $119.30 for 3 years.3-1-21 - Control Panel completely went out again. I called Whirlpool - on hold exactly 1 hour before they answer phone. I am so pissed. They call Service Repair. 3-3-21 - Service Repair here. They order new Control Panel. States these panels are continuously going out and they are having to replace them everywhere. 3-12-21 - I called Service Repair since we havent heard anything. ETA on control panel from Whirlpool is not scheduled until 3-19. I am really pissed by now.In the meantime I have been on hold with Whirlpool for 47 minutes. At exactly 1 hour being on hold, they answer my call. Im told I have to wait. There is nothing they can do. I told her we were buying ice every other day at $10.07 for 2 20# bags and they wont replace money. Told me to throw my items away and they would replace all the food for $250.00 one time during the 3 year contract period. The service is Customer service on their contract is terrible. Waiting for parts is even worse. This is a piece of crap appliance and we will never buy another Maytag.

My 14 month old Refrigerator made a popping noise and quit working. I called Maytag and I had to pay $299.00 for a Service Plan so the repairs would be covered under a warranty and A&E Factory Service came out to do the repair. The repairman told me the Circuit Board and Compressor were melted and he was surprised it didnt cause a fire. The repairman had to get authorization to order the parts for this repair because they were so expensive and he is not even sure if the repair will fix the refrigerator. It is going to take 2 weeks for the parts to come in which means I will be without a refrigerator for a total of 3 weeks and were not sure if this will fix the problem. I am being told by Assurance (the warranty company) that they have to replace the parts 3 times before they will replace the refrigerator. I asked them, Exactly how long do you expect me to go without a refrigerator before I get mine fixed or replaced? When I called customer service and spoke to Brittany she gave me her standard robotic answers. I asked to speak to a manager and she sent me to the never-ending hold zone. I called back and non manager was available but they took my name and number and assured me that someone would call me back. I am still waiting for that call.

NOW you buy the fridge, but like everything else, once they get your money youre basically on your own! I call to have a owners manual sent to her, she doesnt interact with the internet. I purchased a Maytag French Door Refrigerator in July 2011 from Lowes online and had it delivered on August 16, 2011. In September 2011, I could not get the ice maker to work. So I called Lowes and they called in a repairman. He came and replaced a part to fix the problem. I dont have any complaint with his work but here it is, October, and the ice maker makes maybe four ice cubes at a time on a good day.I am really disappointed with this product and according to their commercials, I would like to know which of these techs are setting around doing nothing, maybe he could come and fix my fridge once and for all. I would sure find it difficult to recommend any Maytag appliance as a result of this mess. I could call a repairman myself, but I was under the impression thats what a warranty was for. According to Lowes we are required to call them and they will schedule a repairman or the warranty isnt any good. We purchased a Maytag refrigerator with bottom freezer and French doors, in March of 2015, Model No. MFF2258DEM00. Its adjustable shelves and adjustable door bins were big points in its favor, at least in my eyes. So far both the fridge and freezer cool fine. The automatic ice maker was never connected, so we obviously have had no problems there. However, within a few months of purchase the bar that supports--and provides tracks for--the vegetable and fruit bins broke. It was replaced, but within another few months it had broken again.This is a DESIGN DEFECT that wont be remedied by replacing the item. The bar, which is plastic, hangs from a thin lip about 1/2 long by 1/8 thick. Thats way too flimsy to support the weight of one bin, much less two. There is no way to repair the bar. The entire assemblage needs to be redesigned and remade from sturdier material. Its not simply the inconvenience of having bins that dont operate smoothly. With their track broken, the bins rest on the glass top of the meat and cheese drawer--and threaten to break that. Theyve already caused the door to that drawer to crack.

I bought this Maytag refrigerator model MF 12269FRB00. It is not, user friendly, meaning that condiments and small bottles just dont fit conveniently in any space, The biggest issue is the ice maker. The ice maker shoots ice out on each and every attempt. Every time you want ice you are guaranteed to have ice shoot out of your glass on to the floor. I often challenge my guests to get ice without the cubes shooting out of the glass. No one has ever won. Dont buy this piece of crap, unless you find humor in having ice on your floor every time. Shout out to Grays Appliance in Melrose for selling crap! I will never buy from them or Maytag again. To the engineers who designed this product, you suck too!

MFI2568AES - Last night we woke up because of a noise coming due to continuous snapping of the waterline against the walls of the refrigerator as well as a wall of the house structure itself. Very loud noise. I pulled the refrigerator, went behind it, and shut off the waterline. That stopped the noise and allowed me to go back to sleep. However, need your help to resolve this issue. I will appreciate if you can offer me pointers and guidance.

The cost was right for the quality of the product. Brand was also a factor. We have had no problems either machine, both work as expected and have fully met our expectations. We recommend these products. Energy efficiency, ease of use and capacity were all considerations in making the selection we made. Maytag continues to hold a good reputation. Regular repairs, low quality construction and a cheap finish which looks tacky and is also difficult to clean would each be deal breakers. We purchased our full-sized, side by side Maytag Neptune Washer and Dryer gently used from a private party who needed to obtain different models due to a remodel of their laundry/utility room. We paid about $600 for the pair.

To begin with, the Bravos 300 washer was bought because we owned a Maytag previously and it was with us for 25 years. It was still running when we gave it away and the only problem was a small oil leak starting at the drive. The new washer has no agitator, just the new style flat thing at the bottom of the tub. You cannot wash a set of fitted sheets without it turning into a tangled mess. The washer quit working after about 5 years and all indications pointed to the control. The control would reset after unplugging, but would freeze immediately when you tried to enter a command. We live in an isolated place and it is not feasible to fly in a service person. I ordered a new control, but there was no change in function. After several hours of detective work, it turns out that the mickey mouse plug for the electrical connection at the pump had broken inside. Because the pump would not work, the whole control would freeze. We will never buy another Maytag.

I purchased the Maytag MFI2670XEM0 3 Door Refrigerator in Oct 2012. Thank God I purchased the extended warranty. The freezer has had issues with improper sealing since I bought it. It builds up ice around the bottom of the freezer where the seal meets. So bad it prevents it from closing. It happens fast, so I have to scrape it off every week minimum, to keep it closed. They have replaced the seals twice, all of the slide rails, twice and it still doesnt close right. I thought when I moved to Florida, I wouldnt have to scrape ice.Next: Ice maker quit working and had to replace that. Now, I came out this morning and about busted my ** when I slipped on all the water flooding my kitchen. The ice maker has a stupid little fitting on top of the refrigerator that has a rubber bulb connected to the ice maker water line. It split in half and every time the ice maker cycles, it pours water out that fitting and down the side. Why in the ** did they design it like that? It has caused damage to my cabinets and tile floor from running under it.Im sick of this appliance. I thought Maytag was known for quality. What happened to that? What a disappointing piece of junk and Im stuck with it unless I want to put out money for something different. There should be a Lemon Law rule for appliances like this. I have asked and get nothing from the warranty service but silence (crickets). They are sending out a tech again but that will require two service calls because they always have to order parts, which takes 2-3 weeks. Ive had to call them at least 5 times, which has amounted to no less than 10 service calls and here we go again. Stay clear of these units at all cost.

I have gone several years with wasted food at random times because my Maytag refrigerator decides to stop cooling whenever it feels like it. This is a continuing thing that started since the appliance was brand new and it has never been resolved. Maytag claims that they cant do anything about my refrigerator. They can do what they want to. From my experience, I feel like the issue is that they dont care to make it right. I am finally fed up with this refrigerator and I am buying a new one. I can guarantee that it will not be a Maytag.

MF12569YEM2 - Purchased refrigerator less than 2 1/2 years ago, also started having issues with ice forming in bottom freezer and leaking on to floor. I shut the water source off to the water/ice feature, but it didnt solve the problem. After getting on this site and seeing the issue is quite widespread it seems that it should be considered a manufacturing defect. This is the second (actually third) Maytag Refrigerator we have had, one had actually needed to be replaced about 13 years ago because of electrical problem which service man said could cause it to catch fire. The replacement (different model) worked fine for about 11 years... so we decided to try Maytag again... WHAT A MISTAKE! After reading about the multiple problems we can look forward to and endless service calls I too would never purchase any Maytag or Whirlpool appliances in the future...maybe the company should think about the impact on lost consumers!

I have a 26 cu. ft. side by side Model MZD2665HES, like most folks in my neighborhood (spec homes). The icemaker died and service was called. They looked at solenoid, and replaced the ice maker assembly as a wag that it was the problem.. still no ice, but the water was still able to be called. I replaced filter- still water only, no ice. Little did we know it was the filler tube blocked with ice, and the service man didnt once suggest turning off the water service. SO, every time water was called to either make ice or to fill a cup with, it put intense pressure on the point of assembly where the water line comes into the fridge (water inlet tube). A pin hole developed in the little plastic bit (water inlet tube plate) and every time the water was called to ice, guess what happened - it shot right out the back on drywall.Almost $20,000 dollars worth of damage to wood floor (warped), drywall (jello), and flooring (carpet) ensued. Mold was all over and had to be contained and treated for days to be fixed. Im still duking it out with service repairman and insurance companies. My advise: If you have this fridge or anything like it and the ice maker stops working, IMMEDIATELY shut down the water supply, turn the fridge off and check the filler tube in the back for ice blockage. Probably a good idea to pull the fridge forward once in a while and check the back for water also.

I purchased a new Maytag top freezer refrigerator. From the time it was delivered the freezer temp never went below 10 degrees. It ran between 10 and 20 degrees. Ice cream was soupy, bread did not freeze. I called Good Deals Appliance in Fort Myers, FL where I bought the refrigerator 3 days after delivery to report the freezer problem. They sent a service tech out who looked at it and said the model I bought has no freezer control so it could not be fixed. The store I bought it from said Whirlpool, who owns Maytag, said 10 degrees is acceptable for the model I bought so there was nothing the store or Whirlpool would do to replace it. I called Whirlpool numerous times, was on hold for over half an hour each time and was told 10 degree freezer temp is acceptable. After considerable arguing, they agreed to send a second repair person who came out and said the freezer temperature problem could not be fixed. After numerous additional calls, a complaint to the BBB and a stop payment on my Visa, Whirlpool sent a third service person who said it could not be repaired. I began the round of phone calls to Whirlpool again as well as to the Good Deals salesman who has been as useless as possible, continually saying it is our problem to deal with Whirlpool. The BBB contacted me and then Good Deals who said Whirlpool has agreed to replace the refrigerator but I have to contact Whirlpool. I have called Whirlpool, waited forever on hold, and left three messages and no one has returned my call. Whirlpool should not call what they do customer service. They are rude and argumentative and make it very difficult for customers to contact them and even more difficult to get a defective appliance replaced. DONT EVEN CONSIDER BUYING WHIRLPOOL OR MAYTAG APPLIANCES?

Products spoiling even if set at recommended temperature. Hard to clean bottom freezer. Not happy with this configuration. Had to have repairmen in because of stopped up drain which I could not access to clean myself. Does not close completely at times.

We purchased a Maytag refrigerator in 2009. The freezer is on the bottom. In the last 3 months weve had to defrost this frost-free refrigerator. The freezer frosts and the refrigerator went into the danger level for foods. A technician said there is a tube from the freezer to the refrigerator that gets blocked with ice and your food is spoiled in no time. I wish I would have read this website before I purchased a Maytag. Hopefully, this will help someone else. I thought that Maytag was a quality name. That was the good ole days and now Im living in the good ole days defrosting a frost-free refrigerator. Beware!

My Maytag refrigerator is less than 5 years old; the compressor went out (only warrantied for 1 year, 5 years used to be the minimum). I contacted the company who now owns Maytag, I believe Whirlpool. They told me they can fix it, no matter what the problem is, for $380.00. It turns out they sold me an extended warranty, but that was never explained in the conversation. Prior to contacting them, I had Sears out to fix it; they are the ones that told me it was the compressor. 1 week after buying the extended warranty, the repair company came out to fix it and found out the refrigerator was unplugged and informed me it needed to be plugged in for 24 hours in order for him to determine what was wrong with it. I scheduled an appointment 1 week later. When they came back, they said it was the compressor, and they needed to order the parts. 1 week later, they came back, and the compressor they came with did not work. 3 weeks now, no refrigerator. They said they would put a rush on the order, haha. Now, I have to wait another 8 days for them to come out to repair. 4 weeks without a refrigerator? I think there is some type of implied warranty when you purchase large appliances; these companies are getting away with murder. Are refrigerators now disposable commodities? Cheaper to buy new ones than repair the new ones? What will happen to our landfills?
