We purchased our Maytag dishwasher on 12-26-2013. It was installed in early Jan. We did not buy an additional warranty. We put our faith in the Maytag name. We had no problems with our dishwasher. It was smooth and quiet. The one year warranty ended in Jan. 2015. In March of 2015, our dishwasher control panel began to go crazy. A short while later our Maytag shut down completely. Every now and then the washer will come on by itself. We will try and cut it off. It cuts off when it is ready. We have got quotes on getting it fixed by Maytag. With installation and tax, our Maytag Dishwasher cost us $649.22. Our complaint is the same complaint of thousands of other customers - the control panel. Maytag should have a recall and fix this problem. Maytags remedy for this problem is to sell a warranty for each year that a family owns the dishwasher. That is not acceptable. Had our house built in 2009 and the builder carry Maytag Appliances. After 3 years every single appliances start giving us problems. First the refrigerator not getting cold, got it fixed. Then the dishwasher panel, then the built-in microwave, then washing machine. Just the other day the refrigerator broke down again and I was told the compressor was bad. Really? Whats going with this company? All the appliances from this maker dont have longevity. I have 20 year older refrigerator from GE and its still working. Please do not buy this garbage... Its a waste of your hard-earned money.

Brand new Maytag dishwasher, model #MDB6709AWBO, installed after one year warranty because of extended time needed to complete kitchen. It just never worked. Repairman says control panel faulty. Sears wont help or replace. Sears’ service is extremely poor, over one hour on phone transferred over and over and then told too bad by a Supervisor. After checking this site, I realized Maytag suck. And what to do now that I paid $700++ for fancy dishwasher that doesnt work. By looking at other peoples complaint, it will break down over and over.

Problems with Maytag dishwasher, purchased at Sears Canada Model MDB7749S is only a couple of years old, and as such is no longer under warranty. This Dishwasher is less than 3 years old! Both the interior and exterior is stainless steel and looks virtually new. Cost of parts and labour to repair amount to more than a new dishwasher--this is unacceptable. Poor design. Little value compared to cost. First issue: bottom rack wheels fall off because the plastic pin holding the plastic wheels on the rack become fall out, leaving no way to hold the wheels onto the rack. Second issue: faulty design of the integrated door handle and control panel on the exterior door face. The control panel pops out of the front cover panel when door is pulled open. With some struggle it can be popped back in.I agree with another reviewer who wrote: The design of the faceplate is defective in that too much force is applied to the faceplate when opening the unit. The handle is integrated in to the faceplate. The plastic used becomes brittle over time and breaks. The panel unit (W10811169) must be replaced in entirety rather than just its housing increasing the cost of repair. To have this failure occur within the first 3 years of use is very premature. I can only assume if I repair the dishwasher I will have the same problem again. I am considering buying a new model that is designed better and comes with a longer warranty on such parts.

I am also frustrated with Maytag for the same exact problem... The control panel and the dishwasher not working just after our year warranty went out. I purchased this product because we had a good experience with a Maytag Dishwasher lasting about 20 years, only to get fooled that the quality is not there any longer. This seems like BAD business on Maytag, Whirlpool, and Home Depot! How can we get an official complaint to someone who can fix this? We purchased a Maytag Jet Clean Plus in August of 2013. Within 8 months the control panel stopped working. Though it was replaced by one of their technicians it now after 9 months is broke again. How can this be such a crappy product??? Over 800 dollars for a dishwasher to have to go out twice in less than 2 yrs is just wrong. The company needs to stand behind their products!!! I bought my Maytag dishwasher on September 4, 2013. In August 2014 the control panel went out. (Sound familiar?) The dishwasher was still under warranty, so I called Maytag. It took 3 tries to find a repair person who would come out on my schedule. (Im a teacher and cant take time off.) They installed the new control panel, and it working. I tried to submit a review on Maytags website, but my review was denied. I guess they didnt want to hear the truth.

Purchased Maytag Dishwasher MDB8959SFH4 as part of a kitchen renovation with hardwood floors. Realized that the dishwasher was leaking intermittently. Appeared that the door wouldnt latch properly. Called Whirlpool (parent company). Technician came out to assess the situation - couldnt recreate the problem so suggested replacing door seal. I try to explain to him that in my opinion it wasnt the door seal but a failure to latch because the top rack was not retracting completely on an intermittent basis. He also suggesting replacing the latch. Repair was carried out and same issue arose three days later. I systematically removed one dish at a time and then tried closing the door - after removing about the 6th item the door closed. Called the repair company today and they told me he had just received a recall from Whirlpool - apparently an issue with the tracks not allowing the rack to retract properly - what I have been saying all along. I called Whirlpool but they insisted the notice was sent out some time ago. I called Home Depot where I bought the appliance and they confirmed that they were not aware of this issue. I suggested they should not be selling this dishwasher until Whirlpool remedy the manufacturing defect. I will follow up with Whirlpool to let him know I have spoken with Home Depot and they were not aware of the issue.

MBD7709AWB2 - Bottom line, every 1.5 years (18 months) you will have to buy a control panel. Number 3 for me cost me $149.00. Now my wash cycle will not kick on. Do I have to tell you what dishwasher not to buy!

Purchased Maytag dishwasher from Ft Knox Exchange in 2011, Model MDB6709AWW1; Serial # F04117463. Like most posts before me, the panel started failing after 2 years. Unit is now inoperative. I am attempting to fix myself using repair techniques Ive found online as I refuse to pay hundreds of dollars to repair this piece of junk. Will never buy Maytag again.

My husband and I purchased a new Maytag dishwasher in March of 2012 at a cost of around $650. There is only the two of us at home and I only run the dishwasher 2-3 times per week. On June 16th, I went to run the dishwasher and it would not turn on after hitting the start button. The cycle buttons lit up but the dishwasher would not start. I called the service number in the user instruction manual and talked to a service representative. I was told that the electronic panel that runs the dishwasher is not covered under the 2nd-10th year limited warranty. It would cost around $291 to fix including parts and labor. When I asked for a qualified Maytag repair service company in my area, she only had one company to give me. This company does not have a very good local reputation so I preferred not to use it. My question is - How can a part that runs the dishwasher not be covered under the warranty? If the start button on the control panel is defective then the machine will not work. I also have a model MDB7749AWW2. After reading some of the 356 complaints about this very dishwasher, I think the Maytag Company must be well aware that there is a problem with this machines control panel and they are choosing to disregard the customer. My old dishwasher was a Kenmore and it ran for 27 years and I only had to replace the motor once. I will not be buying anything Maytag in the future.

Excellent dishwasher but door kinda flimsy. Front panel scratches too easy. Top rack needs to be stronger and a bigger bottom rack. Other than that running wise dishwasher is excellent. Its hard to beat Maytag. I think they just build cheap stuff around good motors.

Just like most of the other consumers, the control panel on my three year old Maytag dishwasher (MDB 6701AWW3) has failed for the fourth time. The cost of repairs and extended warranties has now far surpassed the original cost of the machine, which was $400. Today when I called Maytags customer service, I was offered another extended warranty for $316.05 for one year. I suggested that there was a defect in design but was assured that this was probably due to use of the machine. I guess if I left it as an unused space filler, it would last forever. They commiserated with my frustration. Never again will I purchase this brand.

Ive owned the stainless steel version of the Maytag dishwasher model MDB7749SBM purchased on Sept 6th 2013. July of 2014, my first control panel went out. Lights not responding. Was within the 1 year warranty period. Now, that panel is acting up again. I called Platinum Factory service and they wanted to charge me for a new panel and the labor. Well, I used a few choice words on how I felt and the customer service person said the part would be free. Well, nothings free as I scheduled a visit by the Platinum Factory Service. They of course call 5 times to make sure you are home. The day of the service, the tech calls me to see if Im home. I of course said I am... then, he goes to tell me the labor charge for him to come out and hourly rate will come to $189!!! I said screw it and dont bother. Maytags quality and engineering SUCK. Avoid them...

Pump motor went out after two years and all Maytag would do was a small discount on cheaper model. We paid over $800 for the dishwasher and to fix it was over $500 plus the 5 minute service call of over $100. Very poor customer service and a lemon of a dishwasher. Now we have a GE.

I bought a Maytag dishwasher, model MDB8551AWB, in 2007 and have kept purchasing maintenance agreements. From January 2011 to March 2012, I have had to have Maytag send out a repairman to replace the control panel five times. This is absolutely ridiculous, and the inconvenience. Plus the repairmen are surprised Maytag keeps on repairing this dishwasher and not replacing it. More the $2000 has been put into this dishwasher since January 2011. When calling Maytag, I was informed that the problem would have to be the same which it has been but on the same contract for it to be classified as a lemon. Well, it has now been four times. I will never purchase another Maytag.

My wife and I purchased new Maytag dishwasher in 2011. Worked well for 9 months and then control panel went out. We bought a Sears with 1 year warranty. Sears fixed but then 2 more repairs followed with blown fuse and pump motor went out. We knew this was a lemon so we purchased an extended 3-year warranty through Maytag. Well the unit only works for a month or two then we are constantly calling for repairs. We just had the pump replaced a 3rd time and yep you guessed it the unit is loud again so here comes repair 15. The warranty contract states that if the same part fails 3 times, Maytag will replace the unit new one time and voids any further repairs. My wife and I are very frustrated and lost all confidence with the Maytag company. Our old one lasted 14 years and this new one is a piece of junk. The company reviewed my request of unit replacement but was denied for whatever stupid reason. This unit has over 5000 dollars worth of repairs not counting the lost time of appointments waiting for the repair. My wife has had to stay home and wait for 4 to 8 hours an appointment. She has many other obligations to do with her time. Its sad that Maytag does not stand behind their product. Its my conclusion that this company does not want to sell good product, they only want to sell extended warranties. Your products are not reliable if you have to offer warranties. I would like to see if I can get to repair 30 before my warranty expires by March of 2015. Maybe I could then see if 30 repairs would make the Guinness Book of Records on the most repairs done on a dishwasher with extended warranty. That would be something the company could be proud of dont ya think.

Purchased MAYTAG DISHWASHER MDB7809awm in 2011 for $719. In 06/2013 the far right 3 buttons stopped working. I contacted Maytag to see if there was an issue with this and they reported that there was not. I had the part replaced in 06/2013 at $280. It cost me 1/3 of the purchase price of the dishwasher. The repairman said that he sees this a lot with Maytag control panel issues.On 08/02/14 the same exact issue occurred. I contacted Maytag online on 08/02/14 and didnt hear back until 8/13/14 to say that there was no known issue and all they could do was recommend a repairman. I also called before I heard back via email and they said the same exact thing, there is no known issue and we can do is recommend a repairman. I am not interested in repairing. Been there, done that. Not doing it again. I researched the issue of the 3 far right buttons not working and there are several forums and discussion topics out there. I find it hard to believe that MAYTAG is not aware of this issue. If you GOOGLE the model you will see the same issue. Not only is the MAYTAG product poor, but they have the worst customer service I have ever seen.

My Maytag dishwasher MDB7749SAM is not quite 5 years old. At the end of December 2016 a bubble appeared on my vinyl floor. The plumber could not find any broken pipes or reason for any moisture to have gotten under the flooring. A flooring company did not know what was causing the bubble, moisture or the vinyl glue had failed. The floor got worse and worse, more bubbles.Called the flooring company again. Raised the register cover and could see all the moisture under the vinyl and underlayment. Plumber discovered the dishwasher fill valve had failed but because there was so much insulation on the kick plate, at the bottom of the dishwasher, it forced the water, which was in a pan under the dishwasher, to push the water to the back by the wall and under the flooring. Plumber said, the insulation acted like a dam to keep the water from showing in the front of the dishwasher. The first and subsequent bubbles, in vinyl were 3 feet away from the dishwasher. No way to tell the dishwasher had the problem. Has anyone experienced this problem? If not, take care to remove the kickplate and check your dishwasher for water problems.

This dishwasher works great with regular plates and glasses but not so well with my plastic bowls or cups. Im trying different detergents to see if it makes a difference on how clean the dishes are when done.

I bought my Maytag stand alone dishwasher model # MDC4650AWB in August of 2009. I have used it once or twice a week since then. About 2.5 years ago the control panel crapped out. I forked over the $$$ to have the part replaced and installed. Now, 2 years later the panel is once again slowly dying. I just got off the phone with the Maytag people and they refuse fix it and take responsibility for the product failure. The machine has worked adequately for me aside from the control panel issues. The control panel was built to break. Shame on Maytag! Lets go forward with the class action lawsuit!!!

We purchased Maytag dishwasher model #MDBH989AW53 in January 2010. June of 2012 the control panel died. Luckily, we had the extended warranty. The service company came and replaced the panel. 3 weeks ago, the panel died again! The service company replaced the panel again. Today I got home and the dishwasher is completely dead! I am so furious!!! At this point, I may just have to bite the bullet and buy a brand new machine. This should NEVER happen to an appliance that is so new! What a laugh regarding the Maytag quality! The dishwasher stopped working. The lights on left side of control panel arent working; so, machine wont start. Then machine was purchased in January 2010 for $525 and not including installation. I purchased a Maytag dishwasher 15 months ago and was told the control panel is bad. It would cost me $120 to have someone look at it. I might as well buy a new one by the time the parts are added. I called Maytag and they said that there was nothing they could do for me since I was three months past my warranty. I purchased a Maytag Neptune Washer in 2006 for $665.00 from Sears. Three years later, the control board broke and I paid $400 to replace it. In 2011, the motor and motor board need replacing which will cost $410.00. We kept getting an LR code. So in 5 years, our repairs cost more than the original machine. Maytag can count on never getting my business again. Im only sorry that I purchased a Maytag dishwasher this Summer.

This is my THIRD dishwasher, and by far the best. The Bosch machine I had before that was a catastrophe: mediocre cleaning, intense filter cleaning required - at least every two days - and, with a pretended noise level of 47 dB, MUCH noisier than the 50 dB announced by Maytag. Somebody is laughing at someone! To sum up: the Maytag MDB4949SHZ cleans dishes incredibly well, is very silent and requires no filter cleaning.

I purchased a new Maytag dishwasher model MDB7609AWB1 approximately 2yrs ago from Sears. We purchased quite a few new appliances from them and they are always helpful. Within the first year, right after the warranty was up, it stopped working. No lights on the power panel. I called Sears, out of warranty, sorry. Said they would give me a deal on the repair. Sears came out, replaced the computer. $230.00. 6 months later, it stops working again. I go on line to look up these models and sure enough a lot of people are having the same issues. I did some of the checks that they said to do and found my plastic door latch was broken. A little plastic arm that actuates the switches broke. Should have been made of metal. I replace it myself, very easy, by the way. So I figure, in another 8 months it will prob break again. They run anywhere from $19.00-$30.00. 2 days ago power panel and light, not working again. I called Sears and asked them if they were having issues with the power panels that this was the second time in less than 2 years, and if there were any recalls, they said no. I guess they dont follow their reviews, but according to google reviews, its a major problem with most of them. Maytag, Whirlpool, and Amanda. Ordered a new panel today, again they are $141 from Sears but if you shop, you can get a new one for less than $85.00. If you have any kind of mechanical skills, you can replace it in less than 20 mins. It just seems to me that this big companies have let their quality control go and are more concerned about the profit. There should be a recall on these. Do Not buy a Maytag/Whirlpool dishwasher, they are total junk. Sorry Maytag, you lost another customer.

This Maytag (1979 model) is about as good as other dishwashers (I always rinse before placing in machine). It does have a lot more buttons that are not used than the last one I used (installed in the 1950s). Delayed start, choice of preheating water or not, choice of drying. Not big enough to do everything when have company and too big to use when no visitors present. When I am alone it takes 3 months to get enough to fill the machine and by that time they are getting moldy so most of the time I wash by hand. Black glass front with imposing row of controls across the top. I normally do not generate enough dirty dishes to warrant having a dishwasher. Since my wife died I have used the dishwasher two to three times a year.

I had a Maytag dishwasher for 17 years, and it has still worked fine when we moved to another state. At the end of 2010, I bought a new Maytag (1) because my old one performed so well and (2) we left it at our old house. Well, slightly over two years later, this piece of junk (Model MDB6709AWAQ1) needs almost $300 worth of repairs. The repairman said they are no longer made to last and have been that way since about the year 2000. All of the inner workings are run by electronics which only last about two years. I said, What happened; the Maytag repairman got tired of sitting around doing nothing? I would never ever purchase another Maytag dishwasher, or any other appliance made by them or Whirlpool which took over Maytag.

Bought a Maytag dishwasher model MDB7749AWM2 on 02 Jan 2012 with no issues whatsoever until three days ago when it stopped working altogether and after doing a series of tests I discovered that Im joining a large and growing list of owners with the same problem. I never have been a fan of digital controls due to their vulnerability to temperature and humidity conditions or high impacts for that matter. Ive owned many dishwashers of various brands for upwards of 10 years on average each. This is the first one not equipped with analog/mechanical controls. Im hoping I can still find more of that type.

So we purchased a whole package in sept 2014 for our newly constructed home. In Nov we received the CO and thats when everything was finally professionally installed. After its first wash the dishwasher broke and there was a flood in the house and soaked 20% of the newly installed high quality cabinets. We cleaned up everything and called Maytag to have someone inspect it to see what needs to be fixed. The gentleman came about a week or two later and said that the machine isnt worth fixing and to try to get Maytag to replace the whole machine, but he still listed all the parts that were needed to fix it. We tried calling Maytag and said what the repairman said but they said he must fix it and they will not provide a new one. So we wait for the parts and no one calls us. We follow up with Maytag and they say theyve ordered the wrong parts so it will take longer. We try calling the repair man and he doesnt call us back.Then call Maytag again and get them to call the repairman to see why he doesnt answer us. They told him to call us twice and every time he tells Maytag that hes called us and we dont pick up. So we tell Maytag hes lying, the repairman hasnt called us for weeks and Maytag doesnt give a **. And seems like this repairman is freaking lazy and doesnt want to work, even if hes paid for it. You know whats happening now? Chargeback! Thats right Maytag, screw you. When I do another house I will never buy Maytag again! Horrible service and a very defective product. I thought we were paying for quality!! They lost a customer that is faithful and doesnt mind paying extra. Hope everyone can take this into consideration before buying. I wish I wouldve seen these comments before...

My dishwasher is less than 2 years old. Dishwasher will go on when we are not in the house. Cant control the panel. The control panel lights all come, have to cancel to stop the machine. This could be a fire hazard.

I wish I had read these reviews before purchasing my dishwasher. I have used it 40 times max. The control board went out. They want 307.00 to fix it. Really? Why would I fix this piece of crap when I can buy a cheap one for that price that would work better. Ridiculous! I paid good money for this dishwasher and the warranty that comes with this is a joke. This Maytag dishwasher was purchased because Maytag has always been represented as a reliable brand. Wish I had done some research on this problem before repairing it! The control panel went bad after 18 months (and at least 6 months of this time it was not used at all!). The repair cost $300, the dishwasher only cost $429, and if I had realized how much this would cost I would have bought another dishwasher instead. Wonder how long this control panel will last? I called Maytag to complain and was told by Dana badge no. ** that there was nothing to be done as it was out of warranty. We have had dishwashers for 10+ years before that never gave us any trouble. I told her I wanted to speak to her supervisor and she told me she didnt have one! Really, how about if George Moore the CFO or Arthur Learmonth the President call me back on this one! We shall see what they say, but I can see by all the complaints about the same issue with Maytag dishwashers that we will probably be out of luck unless we start or join a class action lawsuit (looks like there is one in California already). I will amend this post if Maytag decides to stand by their product and at least pay for the cost of the control panel, but Im not holding my breath.

We had perfectly working 20 year old top loading white Whirlpools w/ an agitator, when we remodeled our home and wanted new pretty grey appliances and decided to donate our machines to the church. I chose Maytag top loading due to their former reputation we experienced with dishwashers, etc. It had an agitator, deep fill option, extra rinse, etc. The sales person at Home Depot stated, the agitator is because people like you still want the agitator, and the deep fill will give you the water you have been used to. Not so at all!!Clothes get wound up together, even with filling the wash tub in bundles, there is almost NO water to thoroughly clean & the rinse cycle is a joke. Clothes do NOT come out clean. Im 58 yrs. old and have been doing laundry since I was 13 so I know what I am doing. Its just my husband and I now, and he is so upset that his clothes are pilling probably from rubbing together, even though I occasionally use laundry bags. I seriously wish I would have saved my money and kept the 2 perfectly working whirlpool units I had. This has been such a disappointment. I sincerely would not buy these.P.S. Weve had service out at least 5 times in the last year, and all they do is test the washer and tell us its working as intended... The last thing that is going to happen is we are going to get refunded for a different set, even though we were educated over and over what it would do by Home Depot associates. We are heartbroken. Maytag is going to lose their former reputation on these washers a dryers :( There is simply not enough water to clean or rinse things!

My husband and I bought a Maytag dishwasher, Stove and Fridge. We were very reluctant because at our prior home we had Maytag appliances and they kept going out. Against our better judgement when we moved into our new home we decided to go with Maytag once again. First the dishwasher front panel stopped working. We had it replaced and it cost over 250.00 with replacement part and labor. Not a week later went by when our Fridge went out, that cost us another 300.00 plus to fix. Keep in mind we had only had these appliances for about 14 months. Less than a year of replacing the dishwasher panel it has gone out again. This is very frustrating and expensive. I dont usually write comments, but felt the public needed to know that Maytag has poorly made appliances. I recommend you spend the extra couple of hundred bucks and buy the better brands and warranties. Thank you.

After another 5 months we have to replace control panel again, but product warranty is only 1 year. Now we have to either buy new warranty for ~$250 or replace control panel for same amount. I purchased this dishwasher at least 12 years ago and it still works. However, after that much use some of the buttons no longer work. It has china, economy, regular, rinse only and extreme wash features.

I bought a Maytag dishwasher in 2019 in Home Depot for my new home. The dishwasher stopped washing dishes after two years and 6 months. The price of the new machine was 700$ and I did not buy the extended warranty. The trouble is circulation pump, that cost to install the new one from local service would be about 350$ plus the new pump 150$. I consider quality is very poor if the new dishwasher works only two years and then it is better to buy a new item than fix the old one. Never never buy Maytag production.

Had a brand new Maytag MDB4949 dishwasher installed on 10/20/15. Noticed an acrid smell of burning plastic coming from the pull handle. After going to the reviews I see a pattern of shorting control panel boards melting the ribbon cable. Having repaired Xerox copy machines for 17 years, I recognized the smell of an electronics short and melting plastic. There are 600+ complaints for the same thing. Going to call the store we purchased it from and will escalate from there.

Maytag dishwasher MDB7749SBM2 - I purchased this unit from Home Depot. It worked fine when working. In less than two years the control panel had issues. Would not let you start cycle, would randomly start on its own, would light up randomly, would only let one cycle work, would not work at all, etc. I received no help from Maytag. After open up the door panel the problem is obvious. The ribbon cable from touch (control) panel to control board had black spots from corrosion. Poorly insulated or poor design. $150 for part and another $100+ for repairman. As Ive seen from several of these posts it appears to be a common problem now to Maytag, which they choose to ignore in spite of class action lawsuits. Obviously last Maytag product Ill ever buy.

Control panel on front of dishwasher quit. Unit is 15 months old. Bought extended warranty through Home Depot. Took two hours on the phone to finally get to the correct department, they set an appt. for the following Wednesday between 10-2. Had to take a vacation day. Get a call from the appliance repair co. the night before stating they cant live by Depots schedule, they wont be out til the following Monday between 9-1. Schedule a vacation day. They come out then have to order parts, they wont be in for 7-10 business days. After 12 business days, I call back and they set appt. between 10-2. Schedule vacation day. They come out and the control panel the warranty company sent is the wrong one. Now I have to start the whole process over again. DONT BUY MAYTAG AND DONT BUY WARRANTY OR APPLIANCE THROUGH HOME DEPOT.

Maytag dishwasher model MDB7759SAB, 1 year old and control panel will not work at all. Maytag site does not recognize model #, got part numbers off parts and cant find the parts. Looking for control panel, cant find black one and others are back ordered for weeks. After reading other peoples problems, it seems Maytag would correct the issue.

Two months after my warranty expired, the motor burned out on my dishwasher. I called Maytag to see what they would offer, but they would only offer a discount on the actual part. I was so angry I was ready to buy a new dishwasher and forget about them...but I dont have that kind of cash to throw away. After going 5 weeks without a dishwasher (first-world problem) I paid for the part and a repairman to come and fix the dishwasher. Now 3 months later, the touch panel wont work. I am so upset that I wasted the money to fix this piece of junk. I will never purchase another Maytag again.

I have a 7-year -old Maytag dishwasher, which was not working well. I paid over $600 for extra features. Maytag contacted me that the coil had to be replaced. They sent it to me, but the repair service said that theyve sent the wrong one. When they sent the second one, the repair service came out and called Maytag, They said that my model cannot be recalled. The repair service left, and after 1/2 hour later, Maytag called me and said that the repair man has to come back and install a new coil. He came back and installed it.

I purchased a new Maytag dishwasher (model #MDB4651awb3) for $300, in December of 2009. Seven months later, the dishwasher refused to start. Some lights on the front panel would remain on, while others would not respond. The Maytag repairman made a house call and replaced the front control panel, and vent. After the repair, the dishwasher worked fine for nine months. Then, the same thing happened again. It refused to start with the same front panel light problem. I called Maytag, and since the machine was now past the one year warranty, they wanted $275 for an additional 1 year warranty, to repair the machine. Since I can buy a similar new machine for $25 more, and felt this was now an ongoing problem, (it would be the third panel in less than two years). I expected Maytag to offer more to take care of their lemon problem. Since they refused to reconcile the situation, they obviously no longer stand by their machines. I will no longer buy Maytag/ Whirlpool machines, and do not recommend them.

Purchased this Maytag dishwasher (Model DB7749SBM2) from a Sears 2014, no problems until now in late June 2014. The control panel is not responding. Start/Resume light is off, pressing it doesnt seem to do anything. Cancel light is off, pressing it does trigger the cancel drain process. Wash Cycle choices either dont respond, or for 2 of the choices engage an incorrect cycle. Option choices dont respond. Delay light comes on when an incorrect cycle choice displays but stays at 2 hours, cannot be toggled off or to a different delay length. Holding Control Lock or Delay for 3 seconds doesnt seem to clear the circuit board logic. Problem began with the Cycle choice buttons defaulting to Rinse Only. Control panel behaves not at all or incorrectly as described above. Seems to be a common Maytag control board/panel problem. We need help as we are unable to afford repair or another dishwasher. This time, it will not run at all. I called customer service today (August 11, 2015) and they expect me to pay for the repair. Repairman already said electronic board bad at a cost of around $300 just for the parts. It is easy to Google and find multiple review sites that indicate hundreds of consumers have similar problems, but Maytag will not acknowledge any issue. Based on the pattern the warranty is not going to help as it goes out just after a year. For only having it 1 1/2 years it is becoming very expensive. There should be a recall on this control panel.

After speaking to a Kim today... Im more than angry. The control panel on my dishwasher is broken. Had repair come out and they told me a few months past warranty. Kim tells me the only thing still under warranty are the racks?! Im extremely angry at the poor service we are receiving but pleased as we have cancelled the washer and dryer (Maytag). If youre thinking of going Maytag or Whirlpool, cancel! Not worth the headaches or cost.

This is a dishwasher purchased at Home Depot on March 25, 2012 for a rental unit... call from tenant said the dishwasher did not work. Repair person from Appliance Hospital went out today and said the control panel is out and the touch pad. Cost is over $500 to replace. My Maytag (MDBH955AWB) dishwasher (not even 6 years old) is losing its prongs that help the dishes to stand up. They are corroded at the bottom and snap right off, leaving the dishes without support and banging into each other. We are only a family of 3 so it gets moderate to minimal use. The bottom basket costs $200 to replace, a third of the cost of a brand new dishwasher. Everything else about it is fine but my dishes will be chipping away. I cant believe Maytag made the basket so poorly that it doesnt last the lifetime of the dishwasher.

It is quiet and cleans well but thats where it ends. We have had it a little over a year now, after just a few months it started leaking, fixed under warranty. Now one of the upper rack tracks is broken, it was held together with three very flimsy welds, hopefully will be getting it fixed soon. We are going to wait and see what other kind of repair it will need, I think we would have been better off to just buy a cheap dishwasher!

Maytag Model MDB7749SBW: Lights on control started flashing even when not it use, cycle lights varied, dishwasher would start on its own. Stopped at dealer and he said he never heard of problem. Checked online and found problem identified all over the internet. Called Maytag and they knew of problem and said they would send serviceman out to check. First trip free and parts would be free but I have to pay labor for second trip to repair. Dishwasher is just under 4 years old. Serial F31703877. Problem is corrosion on small flexible circuit at top of door. Same problem as others. Maytag states never been a recall!!! THIS CERTAINLY HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE A FIRE. Will never purchase another Maytag or Whirlpool appliance again. Poor quality and lies on the part of company and dealers as well.

We purchased a Maytag MDB7749SBWO Maytag dishwasher. Suddenly the control panel does not work. Trying to find out why I found that there are thousands of complaints about this known defect with water and steam getting in and corroding the control panel. Shame on Maytag for continuing to sell these without fixing the problem. I expected my dishwasher to last many years based on the Maytag reputation instead I need to replace it. I am not going to spend the money on a repair with a machine that will have the same problem again according to other consumers.

We had a Whirlpool dishwasher for 24 years, and when it was time to purchase a new one, I did a lot of research before choosing our Maytag. Reviews by other consumers who had purchased dishwashers was very helpful in making our decision, and we have had no problems in the almost 18 months that we have had this dishwasher. It is very quiet. It washes and dries the dishes with no streaks, although I wash off the dishes before loading them. It provides 5 cycles and 4 options and lights blink, when the washing and drying cycles are complete. I would recommend the Maytag, Model #MDB4949SHBO wholeheartedly.

Nothing wrong with this dishwasher, a bit noisy, but it gets the dishes clean and thats whats important. This was a builder grade installation and it came with the house so I cant really say its the exact model I would have selected had I been given the opportunity to pick my own.

Repair quote was $250, and there is no guarantee that the new control panel will not suffer the same consequences. My research has revealed that this is a very common problem with the dishwasher experienced by a large amount of owners, all about at the 18-month mark. I contacted the company and was chastised for not purchasing the extended warranty and was basically told, Too bad so sad. Buyer beware, do your research before you purchase this appliance. I will never buy a Maytag appliance, or any brand associated with the Maytag name.

MDBH979SAM0 - Bought this dishwasher from Home Depot 2 years ago and have taken care of it, never abused it or anything. All of a sudden it just starts freaking out, once you start a cycle it will wash and then rewash and then keep going costing us money on electricity, water and wear and tear on the machine. Ive tried everything but it seems like its just stuck in start mode. The indicator lights on the panel flip out too, they will all blink randomly. So when I close the dishwasher and dont intend to start any cycles and it is off it will start up all on its own so Ive had to unplug it. Funny how I called to order a control panel part and its on back order... Very interesting how they are out of this part probably because everyones ordering it.

Dishwasher Model #MDB7609AWW2 - I have replaced the touchpad once a year for 4 years. Went online and learned a DIY repair using a Permatex Rear Window Defogger Repair Kit to fill in the touchpad broken circuits. I have repaired it once a year for 2 years. My suggestion is to avoid purchasing this product. Apparently even after multiple consumers have contacted Maytag regarding this widespread defect, Maytag has not issued a recall or assisted anyone. They say if the part can be replaced there is no issue. When the dishwasher works, it is great, however it WILL NOT last. Touchpad will fail and you will be out $124 for the part plus labor unless you do the repair yourself.

We bought a Maytag dishwasher March 2012 and the unit wouldnt turn on October 2013 - 6 months after the warranty ended. We called their service department and they told us to unplug the dishwasher or turn off the circuit breaker. We did so and the unit still would not turn on. We called a repairman who advised us that the touch pad was not working. The cost with parts and labor would be close to $300 which was more than half the original price. We repaired it and I sent all the papers with a letter to the consumer department and today I got a call advising us that they would not do anything. Do you think I have any further recourse? If not, I will never buy a Maytag product again and will advise anyone within a listening area as to how we were treated.

I spent a lot of money for top-of-the-line Maytag. It sanitized and worked to perfection. Delay wash, force wash, grinds everything you could possibly ever want. Fantastic and I can move the racks around. Beautiful. Stainless steel tub. Stainless outside. It has a ribbon cord in the controller. They didnt seal the controller head enough. So the dishwasher stops working after an almost guaranteed 2 yards from the ribbon cord rusting. Well you got to buy another one and it comes as a fill unit at 250 IF you replace it yourself. About 500 for a plumber. And you replace it every 2 years. Maytag is having class actions about it, it knew it has the problem. Its just very profitable to continue having the problem.

We have a 3 year old washer dryer. The wash stopped working so we called Maytag directly to have their repair person come look at their product. Little did we know that they sub contract repair to local companies I could have contacted myself. After being told the authorized dealer was Maytag I soon found out it was not a Maytag employee. The man who came has no idea what is wrong and is guessing at issues. Once a installed part is not the cause he wants to try something else but we have to pay for him to trial and error.We have spent hundreds of dollars and yet our washer is still broken. We have decided to go buy another washer as this is our cheaper option (it will not be a Maytag or Whirlpool). We bought all Maytag appliances two years ago when we redid our kitchen. I have had nothing but a nightmare with my Maytag dishwasher. It started to leak so we called in the service repair person. He said he could not find the leak but tightened something in the washer, it still leaked. We had him come in again because it still leaked and nothing. We called in a plumber to see if he could find the problem. He couldn’t find anything wrong with the plumbing and thought it might be the washer door seal. The washer is still leaking, it will be the third time the repair man is coming to fix the washer. At this point, I just want to get rid of my two year old dishwasher. I will Never buy another Maytag product. This ordeal has been a nightmare with no help from Maytag service centre. So, so, disappointing.

This dishwasher is reliable and has NEVER had any repairs. It cleans fairly well, but I do wash off dishes before I put them in. The one complaint I have is sometimes the dishes smell funny after washing. I think it may be our water though. I also like that there is room for oversize dishes and glasses on some of the racks. Overall, I would buy it again.

Maytag dishwasher, MDB4651AWW was purchased on 15/02/2010. Touch panel was replaced under warranty on 16/08/2010. Touch panel became defective on 04/07/2012. It was $103 for the service call: panel was not replaced (too costly, > $200). My 2-year old dishwasher is now useless. The touch panel on this model has failed twice in two years and is obviously a design failure. I would ask for a free replacement panel.

I bought your Maytag model MDB7749SBW1 dishwasher on May 22, 2013. We bought Maytag because of your reputation...not because of price. However, in September, 2014 (2 months out of warranty!!), the control panel stopped working. I called the 800 number and the best they could do is to extend the warranty for 6 months BUT only after we paid for repair and control board replacement. This is not cheap!!! We were furious. I looked if there were recalls on this model but there is not (should be). Anyway, after we paid for repairs and a new control panel put in ($160.00 +- for part itself), we were very cautious about touching anything on that dishwasher. YOU HAVE an issue with design and I can give you link after link of other customers who have expressed the same thing. So, here we are in 2017... About 2 months ago, we noticed the exact same symptoms with the control board.In fact the ONLY way we could start the dishwasher was to turn off the breaker, let it sit for 20 minutes - overnight and then turn back on and hit the start button. We lost all control over the settings. Only auto clean and delay 2 hours were working. Yesterday, I purchased yet another control board ($179 incl tax and shipping). I plan to install myself. If I could afford another dishwasher, I would do it and never buy Maytag again. Maytag really ought to be ashamed and if they were truly concerned they would offer these defective parts at a steep discount or better yet, recall. I plan on submitting something about this issue with any consumer group I can find. I guess the only way to spread the word and perhaps force a company to respond is to post on social media anymore. I purchase a Maytag dishwasher from Home Depot on 12/31/11. Based on the their commercials, I thought they were dependable. I did purchase an extended warranty, as I always do with any new appliance. After 2 years, the dishwasher stop working. I contact Home Depot and the extended warranty and was told to contact the manufacturer. Maytag blamed the extended warranty for the problem. I purchased a Maytag dishwasher four years ago and it has been serviced six times in those four years. Not just small things, main parts. Control board twice, control panel twice, and cleaning terribly the other two. They replaced the control board once and then would not do anything after that. I just got it replaced four years into this nightmare only because I bought a Sears home warranty plan and they are replacing it. I would never buy a Maytag appliance ever again.

First off, everyone seeing this should be fuming as I am because we are mostly in the same boat with these control panel issues. Mine is Maytag model MDB7749SBM3 about 575.00. A little bit cheaper than most of you because I purchased at the online and had a rebate. About a couple months after the warranty expired, we started having weird light issues with the control panel where are one light would pop up when you didnt hit it or other lights would pop up when you hit something else. We kept dealing with it thinking that it would dry out and resolve itself. Lo and behold, just like it appears to be tens of thousands perhaps hundreds of thousands of machines, it quit. I read this consumer affairs post after it quit and now I know why it did. I opened up the control panel and sure enough, the little ribbon that connects all the electrical connections had brown on the back like it was burnt through. I was able to find a special 1 800 number that Whirlpool has set up because they have purchased Maytag and the woman I spoke with said they would send a technician out and that I was responsible for the diagnostic fee. I was born but it wasnt yesterday. I immediately said to the woman, Absolutely unacceptable. I am NOT paying for anything, very politely highlighting the fact that I know they settled a class action lawsuit in California regarding a control panel issue and there are hundreds maybe thousands of complaints on consumer affairs.com. The woman place me on hold, I am assuming to speak with her supervisor and then let me know that they would pay for the diagnostic fee. She said a repair date for me for about a week and a half later. The repairman had a good day because the dishwasher was already disassembled for him and he proceeded to take pictures and call Maytag. Maytag told him that I was responsible for the installation cost and service fee which according to the technician is about a hundred bucks. I told the technician that is fine but it will not be fine when I call Maytag back. I have not spoken to Maytag about the hundred dollars needs to file a claim for a new dishwasher and associated damages. I have not spoken to Maytag about the hundred dollars but I am only on this to let you know that every single one of us needs to file a claim for a new dishwasher in associated damages in small claims court. I plan on filing a claim for approximately $700 for a new dishwasher and damages. In my opinion, I feel like we should all do this, otherwise big corporations like this will continue to shovel garbage into the stores left and right.Have a good day and good luck with your court case hopefully. I received my Maytag dishwasher in November of 2013 from Home Depot (It was a month overdue the expected delivery date). It was installed by a certified electrician/contractor. By February of 2014, the control panel had to have its first replacement. It is now July 2014 and we are having the repairman come out to replace the third control panel this Monday. Supposedly there was a recall on the control panel and the one replaced less than a month ago was the improved/repaired one. We are beyond frustrated. I too sought Home Depot for help after the first repairman they suggested charged us almost half the cost of the dishwasher for his repair. I have already sunk over the price of the product into repairs. My Maytag dryer broke last week as well. Someone needs to get involved with this situation, perhaps a contact to the media? I think we are all being scammed and deserve refunds by Maytag for the dishwashers and our repair costs.

Our current dishwasher was already installed when we purchased this house. It is adequate, however, it does not do a great job with caked-on food. This means that the worst dishes need to be pre-cleaned.

I bought a Maytag dishwasher in January 2013. Three months later, the cheap plastic latch on the door malfunctioned. I waited 3 weeks for the repairmen to get the part in. Is there a sense of urgency anymore? If I owed Maytag money, I bet there would be a real sense of urgency on their part. Next time it will be an LG dishwasher.

Dishwasher worked fine for the first 12.5 months, and lo and behold 1 month after the warranty expired, I had my first repair, a new motor. A few months later, I had my second problem, the thermostat. A few months later, I called Maytag because I thought that the control panel was probably shot (based on my previous Maytag for which I replaced the control panel 4 times, before Maytag finally agreed to get me a new dishwasher). At that point they sold me an extended warranty which for 300 they would make this repair, and any other repairs for the next year. They have been out 7, yes 7 times, in 4 months. They would probably be out more often, but since it has been difficult to get a repair person out here, more time than not Im washing dishes by hand. Their customer service is horrible, their products worse. Still waiting for the dishwasher to be repaired. They wont send out a different company, even though they have been out here 7 times, and keep coming back. Even when it is repaired, they will not cover the cost to replace the soap bin, the racks, the wheels on the rack, and all the little pieces made out of the same quality plastic as the stuff I buy at the Dollar Store (except when that stuff breaks, it doesnt ruin my hardwood floors). Dont buy a Maytag, roll up some $100 bills and light a match, because you can look at a pretty flame and wont raise your blood pressure dealing with their customer service.

I have had this dishwasher less than 2 years, Maytag model # MDB7749SBM2. The control panel started acting up, it would not let me select a wash cycle, it would select its own and I could not change it. After reading these reviews, I took off the control panel and discovered the wires which are encased in a plastic were all darkened and messed up. I will try to replace it on my own but if I have to I will buy another brand as this dishwasher hasnt really cleaned my dishes all that well to begin with.

We purchased a Maytag Jetclean Plus Dishwasher in June 2013. It worked well enough initially. We bought it because it had a large capacity and built in disposal. By August 2014, just after the warranty expired, the front panel gave out. To have someone even look at it cost $150. By following instructions from internet discussion groups by other people facing similar issues, we were able to get it to run in random mode. Programs were no longer indicated or selectable but dishes generally still got cleaned. Two months later a wheel fell off the premium rack glides. Finally after about 2 years of use, the dishwasher finally gave up altogether. At this point the stainless steel tub is no longer stainless. The entire device has worn poorly and looks shoddily made. This is the worst use of $900 I have ever made, and what tweaks me the most is Maytags attitude and their ludicrous warranty that barely lasts out the weakest link in the device.

Maytag dishwasher does not clean dishes. It has hot water and we have had a repairman look at it and he said water jets working. We have to wash all our dishes by hand before loading them into the dishwasher to sanitize.

My husband and I are very disappointed and upset about our new Maytag Dishwasher model MDB8949SBM. We only have had this dishwasher a little over a year! We purchased in May of 2014 and in June 2015 the control panel lights were acting crazy. Actually I even think it started earlier but just thought it was me pushing buttons wrong and wasnt that bad. Then in June any button you push on would not even light up!! I have stopped using dishwasher since June and now it is October! I was so done trying to push the right cycle that I wanted! I will never purchase another Maytag ever!! Just saw there is a Lawsuit here California. Yes!! But I have not seen any information yet on this lawsuit. I am calling Maytag!

MDB7749SAW - 22 months @ an initial price of $599 and control panel lights become increasingly erratic and finally machine fails to respond to reboot (unplugging) after the third time. Repair man over the phone is familiar with the model and estimates parts at $160 + $115 (gave me a discount) + $125 service call for $400 to make the Maytag run again. Bought June 28, 2012. Installed September 2012. Becomes trash July 2014. Wish I could be more helpful... but if I had purchased the service insurance agreement, it would have run about $90/year... that would have been an extra $180 for a total of $712 including sales tax. So, I had a dishwasher for about 95 cents per day. Nobody rents them. I cant give it less than one star or I would. As a new buyer I was not informed.

I only run the dishwasher twice per week so I cant imagine how poorly it would hold up if it was run more often. I am on my third week without the dishwasher because the part is on back-order! No one can tell us when it will be in. I bought a Maytag because I thought they had the appliance market under control. MY MISTAKE! I am very angry.

Purchased dishwasher Model #mdbh979sab1 in 2013 and days before the 1-year warranty was up the front control panel quit responding, rendering the appliance useless. Got that fixed under warranty. Now about 1 year later guess what... Its got the same problem. Began to read others post on this site and found that this is a common issue. One person posted that her dishwasher began to smoke and nearly caught her home on fire. Maytag was kind enough to offer a paid service call and enrollment into their extended warranty program. I think Ill cut the umbilical cord on this one and go get something more reliable and doesnt pose a potential fire hazard.

We purchased our Maytag dishwasher less than a year ago and are very disappointed with the poorly designed quality of this product. We had a Maytag repairman look at our dishwasher and he told us that; the dishwasher cleans with enzymes in the dishwasher not water pressure, and we need to make sure the water in the kitchen faucet need to be hot before starting the dishwasher, we also need detergent, rinse aid, and citric acid added to each load. Adding all these products to the dishwasher does not fix a poorly designed product. This product does not clean the dishes, even with rinse aid the glasses come out cloudy. The dishwasher has a power blast button, it does not clean the dishes any better than the regular setting and it runs for four hours. We will never buy another Maytag product.

I called Maytag and because it was over 1 year old, they would not do anything about it! On February 2006, I purchased a Maytag Quiet Series 300 Dishwasher and on July 2007, a motor leak. Maytag fixed it for free even though it was out of warranty. Thereafter (December 2008), the touch pad failed and I replaced it for $50. It is now August 2011, and that new touch pad is bad again, and this time, the part is $170. The Maytag will not run and the lighted display will not function from the start button. This was a $450 dishwasher that is now only five years old and useless.In all fairness to Maytag, their customer service is very good and willing to work with customers. Unfortunately, the product is very inferior in my opinion. To have stupid stuff like a control touch pad failing every three years is absurd and the replacement cost makes fixing it a bad investment.I will be going out this weekend and buying a brand-new inexpensive dishwasher that is on sale for $229. This model is not a Whirlpool product but it is a name brand.

Same as all the others, bought this dishwasher about a year and a half ago for a new home. Didnt get the CO until 3 mo. ago and already having same problem with the keyboard flashing and not working properly. Very pathetic to believe less than 100 washes and were going to need a new washer, that works out to be about $ 5.00 a load. Wish someone could help. Model mdb7749sbb0. Thanks.

I find this Maytag dishwasher just ok, nothing special. It doesnt seem to clean any better or worse than other dishwashers I have had or used in the past. It also seems to get really slimy under the inside of the door.

Like so many others, I now discover, we are having a ridiculously frustrating problem with our Maytag dishwasher, bought one and a half years ago. Last week, the control panel stopped working -- we press normal and a whole bunch of other lights come on; try to press other cleaning options and entirely different ones light up again. Sometimes we can get it, with luck, to quick wash or super clean and thus have our dishes cleaned (which the machine never did that effectively anyway); sometimes we cant. I havent called the company yet, but given what Ive read, Im unsure if it would do any good. Judging from all the similar comments, Maytag is clearly selling a radically inferior product and care nothing much about this. We will surely never, ever buy another one of their products.

My dishes come out super clean and I love it, even when there is calcium build-up around the filter. Thanks to Maytag and their great technology. You cant beat Maytag.

When purchasing new, sales person highly recommended Maytag products. Maytag Dishwasher MDB7749SBW3 - This had the SS tub that my wife was looking for. Now only 19 months later it has completely stopped working. A few weeks ago the lights on the control panel would randomly come on or not align with the wash option that was chosen. This lasted a short time, and then lights on the panel would stay on, and not allow you to choose any options. I reset our breaker and this alleviated the problem for another week or so. Then it stopped working all together. A quick Google search and it was obvious Maytag has a MAJOR and KNOWN issue with this model. The ribbon going into the faceplate/ control board sits directly behind the port that exhausts the steam. This ribbon over time becomes corroded and eventually malfunctions. I called customer support. They were completely unwilling to acknowledge the problem and also unwilling to help in any way. They offered to sell me an extended warranty @ $329.00 that would cover the service call and repair. Very unhappy that their product has an obvious defect/ flaw and they are completely unwilling to acknowledge/ or stand behind their product. We are a family of (3) and run this dishwasher about once every 5-10 days. Unbelievable they find a fail rate within a year and half with light use acceptable!

Our dishwasher developed a smell. We do regular maintenance and care of this dishwasher. Come to discover the entire thing is full of mold. Customer service is rude and expects us to wait two weeks for a service person to come out. Will not use the dishwasher because it is probably making our family sick. I have never experienced customer service like this. DO NOT BUY DISHWASHERS FROM THEM. They don’t care the product is defective and they don’t care about their customers or their safety.

The 2013 Maytag dishwasher panel broke 13 months after the purchase. After several phone calls and complaints they agreed to replace the panel at no charge. Since yesterday I have the same problem and need them to replace this washer. I am on a limited SS income and I am not in a position to purchase another washer after 3 yrs. My previous one lasted almost 15 yrs. This is totally unfair and I hope that Maytag replaces this entire machine, not just another repair. It will cost them a lot less to do that by either sending or having LOWES to replace this one. Thank you so much.Updated on 09/16/2016: Maytag is asking $300 to fix it and they will not replace it. So, by coincidence a friend of mine had the same problem and she did the following and I repeated these steps and now dishwasher is working. Turn off the switch or unplug, or turn off from the circuit box, your dishwasher. This cuts off electricity to the washer totally. Wait 30 seconds. Push the cancel button and hold on pressing it for 30 seconds (precisely, not less). Push then, the start button and hold on for 30 seconds again. Turn on the power and the cancel light will come on and let the cycle finish do not touch anything, until it is turned off and the light goes off by itself. Then, choose your selection for washing push start and see if it works. It did with mine and hers. Good luck and LADIES- YOU CAN DO IT, if this little old woman did it by herself.

The dishwasher is very stylish and looks great in our kitchen. I do wish there was a small knife drawer in top. It cleans very well and is super quiet. I would highly recommend this dishwasher, good value.
