PROBLEM: If the letter "F" is flashing on the display the refrigerator, try resetting the refrigerator as instructed below.
FIX
Reset power to the product:
- Power unit down by turning off the circuit breaker(s) or unplugging the product for one (1) minute.
- Power unit up by turning on the circuit breaker(s) or plugging the product back in.
- Ensure the cooling function is turned on.
- Monitor the refrigerator for one (1) minute to ensure the error code does not display again.

CODE: PO Error Code

I just found this website & do not have my model info with me. But we have bought 2 Maytag refrigerators since 2001. We still have the 2nd refrigerator but I want to replace it as soon as we can. They were different models but had/have the exact same problem. They freeze up into sheets of ice and then leak puddles of water on to the floor. Makes me mad when I see their ad about how great their product is - what a load of crap! My first refrigerator was a General Electric; it was still running after 19 years when I left the farm. I still have my 2nd General Electric refrigerator (18 years old) down in my family room - running like a top! NOT EVER GOING TO BUY MAYTAG AGAIN!

I purchased model number MF12067AEW in 10/07. Motherboard has been ordered to be replaced. I have been waiting 2 weeks for the board--all over the Xmas holidays without a refrigerator! We bought this model and paid $2,800 to have a counter-depth refrigerator. I will never by anything from Maytag again. We are holding our breath to see what the cost will be and if it will it break down again. We lost all the food in the top. Ice machine flap continued to pound open and shut all the time.

I have a 4-year old Maytag refrigerator. The back of the top freezer compartment is frosted and frozen, and the bottom refrigerator is now too warm to put food into. I wonder if a lonely non-busy Maytag repairman can come and fix it? Oh wait! Thats the deceptive false advertising that I bought into when I wrongly assumed that these were great appliances. I cant afford to get this fixed and after what Ive read from other peoples experiences, it wouldnt matter anyway. It would just break again anyway. What a joke! Ill unplug it and try replugging it in after it thaws and maybe that will work.

Our Maytag refrigerator is leaking water all over my kitchen floor to the point that my floor tile has lifted. The ref. is a French door with water and ice in the door and freezer on the bottom. We have been cleaning up puddles of water at least several times a day. I see that this is not an isolated problem, as others have complained about this defect doing the same thing with their Maytag refs. Why hasnt ConsumerAffairs demanded a recall on these expensive defective refrigerators to date? I am truly disgusted.

Ive had my Maytag refrigerator for 19 years and it still performs well. I keep it clean both inside and underneath. The lighting is one aspect I really appreciate as there are two bulbs in the interior so theres never a problem seeing all the contents. Also appreciated are the movable shelves on the door and the ability to raise or lower the main shelves in the body of the fridge.

On 11-10-10 I purchased a top of the line Maytag fridge. All had been great till we needed a part in Nov. of 2014! After nearly 3 months of searching they tell us that they no longer make parts for this unit and I am out of luck! Fridge works great but the center seal is broken (french door - Mullin) they quit making the part???? I am beyond angry! Will never buy Maytag again!!!

I purchased a Maytag French Door Refrigerator in July 2011 from Lowes online and had it delivered on August 16, 2011. In September 2011, I could not get the ice maker to work. So I called Lowes and they called in a repairman. He came and replaced a part to fix the problem. I dont have any complaint with his work but here it is, October, and the ice maker makes maybe four ice cubes at a time on a good day.I am really disappointed with this product and according to their commercials, I would like to know which of these techs are setting around doing nothing, maybe he could come and fix my fridge once and for all. I would sure find it difficult to recommend any Maytag appliance as a result of this mess. I could call a repairman myself, but I was under the impression thats what a warranty was for. According to Lowes we are required to call them and they will schedule a repairman or the warranty isnt any good. I replaced a GE French Door with this Maytag, I sure am sorry I chose this Maytag.I know an ice maker problem is minor compared to some of the complaints on this appliance, but when you pay good money for a product you have every right to expect everything about it to work. Im just wondering where these appliances are actually made?

So for the past year our 1 yr old freezer has been leaking and holding a sheet of ice at the bottom. Ive been wondering why my electric bill has skyrocketed the past two months and we just realized that the freezer wont even stay closed anymore. Maytag has become a VERY POOR product. Our less than two year old $450 Maytag Drier just busted as well. After paying repairman after repairman and replacing different parts, we had to get rid of it. I am very dissatisfied with Maytag and will never purchase a product with their name attached. Please keep us posted if there is a class action lawsuit. This is unfair to make a product that fails immediately for the price that is paid!

Maytag has really gone downhill. Had trouble with a factory defect in a new French door Maytag refrigerator within a few months (had it returned) and now the Maytag Centennial EcoConserve Top Load Washer no longer spins after only just barely 2 years of use... I will NEVER buy Maytag again. That is a promise. I will put more money and buy more expensive products from your rivals if it means avoiding Maytag products. That is my advice to anyone reading this review. The washer was used for MAYBE 10 loads of laundry per month... Yes, just for two people who have desk jobs so It was never stressed out. Used HE laundry detergent. Quality is a thing of the past for this company. Your reputation is in the doghouse.

I purchased a small (14.5 cubic feet) refrigerator for my basement from Home Depot on January 26, 2013. It was delivered on January 30, 2013. On February 14, 2013, we found that it was not cooling like it was supposed to. The soft drinks in it were not cold. I called Home Depot and was told I had to call Maytag for a repairman to come out. Since it was so new, I felt it should be replaced. They disagree. The warranty only calls for repair. So a repairman came out on Feb. 19th. He said that it has no freon. He doesnt know why. It could have a leak. It could have leaked out in the warehouse. There is no way to know this. He said another repairman would be out to fix it on the 20th. On the 20th, no one showed up or called. I called the repair company, S & S Appliance of Bessemer. I was told the repairman that I needed is in Montgomery today and the repairman yesterday was told to tell me he would call me. He was told to not tell me someone would be out today. So now, I have to wait until tomorrow for someone else to call me and see when he can fit me in his schedule. I think Maytag has a problem with their refrigerators. I think Home Depot has a problem not standing behind what they sell. I think S & S has a problem with their servicemen. I am not happy with any of these companies and will never buy another Maytag refrigerator or washer, but thats another story.

The latest was a control board at a cost of $225 and the repair man only charged me a service call and not labor because I was so upset. I called Maytag hoping they would at least pay for the part, but they only want to sell you a service contract (Of course it wont cover the control board, that already happened but would be happy to sell you a new extend warranty). I WILL NEVER BUY A MAYTAG APPLIANCE AGAIN! Run as fast as you can away from this brand. Be warned. They will not stand behind their appliances!

Same thing as what most people are complaining about - I also have hardwood floors that are ruined. I just had a kitchen remodel and now I wish the floors werent new. Warped badly under the fridge. It is a constant pain. I have to break up the ice with a blunt object to get it out. I was so excited to get a new fridge. Of course it was on sale, now I know why. We purchased a Maytag refrigerator (MBF2258XEW) less than 6 weeks ago, and the compressor has already failed! Its not good, but the reason I am writing is their customer service (or lack of it)! We were told that it would take 3 weeks to get the replacement part, which was only 45 days old. Home Depot, where I had bought it, has been great; and they pushed Maytag/Whirlpool to agree to replace it. But Home Depot cannot not get us a new one until the paperwork comes from Maytag. We were told by their customer service that it would take 4 working days just to process the paperwork! Thats working days, and this is a Friday! So now, theyve all left for the weekend, and I still have no refrigerator and no idea when I will get one! They said no to getting the part faster, no to speeding up the paperwork, no to me returning it and getting a refund, and no to providing me with a rental. Please consider this when making any new appliance purchase.

I purchased a Maytag refrigerator about two years ago because of the Maytag quality hype. The ice maker has been leaking almost from day one and I need to clear out the ice from the bottom of the freezer every few weeks. Now the thing has quit cooling all together. I contacted the Maytag website and they recommended a local authorized repair firm. I took a day off work to meet the service provider. After checking the fridge they informed me that the problem was with the sealed system and that they could not work on it, and that I would need to contact Maytag to get a real Maytag repair person to come and fix the thing (right back where I started). They were however more than happy to charge me $70.00 for a service call. I tried the Maytag 1 800 number which was a nightmare and it finally hung up on me. I then went back to the website and managed to get a service appointment in two weeks (had to wait for a Saturday appointment because I cant afford to take another day off work). I just hope that this time it will actually be someone who can fix the thing and not charge me just to refer me back to Maytag again. I am not happy with the so called Maytag quality or their BS methods for providing service. Caveat Emptor if you are contemplating a Maytag appliance.

I purchased a Maytag side-by-side, model MSD2656DEQ, in June 2000. First service call within a couple of months was for a very noisy ice dispenser, which the tech said was normal. Other than the noise, the dispenser has worked fine. Aug. 2005, the freezer frosted up and the tech replaced the defrost timer and defrost thermostat. May 2010, I had the same problem again and again these two parts were replaced. This morning, I found the food thawing in the freezer, 3 1/2 yrs since last repair. It is Sunday so will have to call tech tomorrow. Third repair in 13 years for a $1500 (2000 year dollars) Maytag. Two months after purchasing our Maytag refrigerator, the light/cooling unit went out. After speaking with Maytag’s customer service and scheduling a repair company to come fix it, it took 3 separate trips over a span of 2 or 3 weeks to finally find the correct replacement piece to get it to work again. It is now 10 months since buying and we, once again, are having issues with the lights going out and randomly coming back on, the water/ice machine not dispensing, and we’re just waiting to see if the cooling unit isn’t out as well.I called Maytag as soon as we noticed the issue, and after waiting 15 minutes on hold, they scheduled a repair service to come check it out... in 5 days. Having spent $2300 on a refrigerator for our family, we were hoping for a reliable product. I would NOT RECOMMEND this refrigerator and will never buy anything, or let any friends or family members purchase anything, Maytag manufactures ever again. As if the faulty product itself weren’t bad enough, I have had the absolute worst customer service experience. Who would have thought it could be so difficult to look up a customer account, even after having it registered with Maytag after purchasing.

They came and the order said nothing about a motherboard, which is what the tech person who came also said it needed. Now they will be here on the 7th of Oct - maybe. 12 days is highly unsatisfactory for refrigerator repair. They had 4 days to see that the provider had a motherboard before the serviceman wasted a trip. Ive spent $102 on dry ice and now Im going to lose the food anyhow. I bought my refrigerator in May of 2012. Brand new from Home Depot. It is less than 3 years old. Now it is not working. I did not purchase an extended warranty. I never thought in less than 3 years my fridge would stop working. I called Maytag, first question from them was about warranty. So I knew I was screwed. So, basically for $300 they would come out and fix the problem. I only paid $800 for the fridge. I am lost as to why in 3 years my fridge is broke?? Makes no sense to me. So I paid a tech $100 to tell me what was wrong with it. The evaporator is leaking. It is leaking. So the evaporator is bad and I cannot fix myself. So for another $300 they would fix, so a total of $400 in an $800 fridge.I am pissed. I remember my parents having a fridge for over 25 years. Why does Maytag not take responsibility for their problem. The products we buy should last longer than 3 years. It is just a way for them to get us to buy another product. So needless to say, I am one pissed off customer. So let the emailing and letter writing begin.

Duck bill valve for defrost water from freezer malfunctions, water flows into freezer freezes, then eventually overflows onto floor. Huge problem for folks with wood floors. Also a slip/fall danger especially for the elderly. When the repair line is contacted, they deny the problem and say you are the only one. But if you do your research, you find there are hundreds of complaints and in November 2013 they issue a service bulletin, but its internal, not meant for consumers to find out. So if you have this problem, go to the Consumer Product Safety Commission and fill out a complaint. Maybe then something may come of it.

My husband and I purchased a Maytag stainless steel French door/freezer bottom ice making fridge from Hhgregg in Brown Deer, WI and 8 months later (now), Ive been told that my food that is spoiled, cant be replaced and my service for the fridge wont be done until next week! I have 5 kids and a husband. This has turned our world upside down. I called them and spoke to a Nicole and she said they cant do anything for us, but we can try to contact the diamond repair service at 269-927-2519 to see if they can get us in sooner. I asked for a refund for the fridge and she said no, the 10 warranty only counts for repairs... I am so angry that I didnt research Maytag before now. I gave the Whirlpool fridge to the delivery guys of Hhgregg and I had that for 18 years and it never went out on me. If anyone is reading this and is upset as well, let us get together and start a class action suit!

I bought this Maytag refrigerator model MF 12269FRB00. It is not, user friendly, meaning that condiments and small bottles just dont fit conveniently in any space, The biggest issue is the ice maker. The ice maker shoots ice out on each and every attempt. Every time you want ice you are guaranteed to have ice shoot out of your glass on to the floor. I often challenge my guests to get ice without the cubes shooting out of the glass. No one has ever won. Dont buy this piece of crap, unless you find humor in having ice on your floor every time. Shout out to Grays Appliance in Melrose for selling crap! I will never buy from them or Maytag again. To the engineers who designed this product, you suck too!

To begin with, the Bravos 300 washer was bought because we owned a Maytag previously and it was with us for 25 years. It was still running when we gave it away and the only problem was a small oil leak starting at the drive. The new washer has no agitator, just the new style flat thing at the bottom of the tub. You cannot wash a set of fitted sheets without it turning into a tangled mess. The washer quit working after about 5 years and all indications pointed to the control. The control would reset after unplugging, but would freeze immediately when you tried to enter a command. We live in an isolated place and it is not feasible to fly in a service person. I ordered a new control, but there was no change in function. After several hours of detective work, it turns out that the mickey mouse plug for the electrical connection at the pump had broken inside. Because the pump would not work, the whole control would freeze. We will never buy another Maytag.

My Maytag is 2 weeks old, and knew from the start I had a lemon. The compressor sounds like a giant freezer. I had the service man take a look at it, and while he was here the compressor did not come on. He pulled the plug from the fridge and turned it back on and still it did not turn on. I asked him to stay till it turned on and he said he could not stay any longer. I waited for him from 2 PM till 7:30 PM. He was to arrive between 3 and 6. Talk about frustration, and I only wish I had read all the reports before I bought this junker. I was so worried I decided to get the insurance for 4 years. The reason the ice forms is because you have no control over the ice. You cant see them and they get stuck. I had a side by side before this, and I can kick myself for not buying a side by side again. I was told to shut it it down when youve had enough ice cubes, to stop it from getting stuck. This ice maker is so big and so hard to pull out and the switch to turn it off is on the inside. So far my only complaint was the humming, but I can see a tough road ahead.

Our refrigerator is just 2 years old and it have been leaking for over a year. It started leaking right when the warranty expired. I am so mad. I called them and they said... You can purchase a warranty for $400. I am like.... what!!! I called my home warranty and they fixed it for $100. A few months later it is leaking again! I am so mad... It is a $1200 refrigerator. What can we do as a group to fight for this? There have to be something that we can do?? It is so frustrating. If there is an attorney that can take care of this group that would be great.

We purchased our Maytag Refrigerator Model # MBF2258DEHM on 12/21/2015. Just a couple of issues I would like to bring to your attention before you purchase your Maytag. The single refrigerator door does not close automatically. You have to close the door. The metal handle is metal and has a metal smell and feel to it. The stainless steel door and the handles are not the same finish. Although this might not be a problem for some who like the industrial look I prefer my hands to be free of chemicals while I am preparing food. The ice maker takes up too much room. The ice maker should have been an option, not a standard item. I had a Kitchen Aid for 10 years and loved it. I thought I was going to have my Kitchen Aid for 15 years or more. I would have purchased another Kitchen Aid, but the reviews were not good.

This fridge is a piece of crap. Bought brand new and right after warranty the freezer started freezing up and leaking all over the floor, ruined the wall behind the fridge which created mold as well as the puddle on the floor that multiple people in my home slipped and fell and it started shocking anyone who touches it. Called a repair man he says he doesnt know why its shocking probably is the manufacturers fault as well as the defect causing it to freeze up and leak. I call Maytag and the guy doesnt seem to care that my 7 year old has been shocked and says unplug it and I will just need a new fridge. I already spent the money on the new fridge. Why should I have to go buy a new one now after 2 years, that I cant afford. Its ridiculous how many other people are having problems. Its a defect and should be recalled and they should have replaced the crap fridge they sold me in the first place. You would think for such a big company they would do something but yet people are getting seriously injured and this seems like it should be taken to court for a lawsuit. I am extremely unsatisfied and wont ever buy a Maytag and will let all my family and clients through my cleaning business not to ever purchase a fridge from Maytag.

We purchased a Maytag French Door Refrigerator with a bottom freezer in 2010. About 6 months ago, we noticed water leaking out the front of the refrigerator. We recently called Maytag service and were told that the refrigerator pan was too small and they would order it and have the independent contractor replace it. The woman I spoke with said that Maytag has been having a lot of complaints about this as the pan put in the refrigerator was too small. In my opinion - an obvious design flaw. The service tech came to our house today with a larger drain...not a pan as I had been told by Maytag (Maytag is the one who ordered the drain to be put in). We ended up paying an unexpected $209 (Pan vs. drainage replacement is a lot more expensive). Needless to say, we are upset for having to pay $209 for a Maytag design flaw as well as not being told upfront what the correct part was that was being ordered. We called Maytag and were told there was nothing they could do because its not on the recall list (yet) and because we didnt buy the extended warranty. We are feeling like suckers and will never buy another Maytag.

I bought a brand new Maytag bottom freezer fridge on Aug. 12th, 2012. The main compressor went out on Memorial Day of 2013. I contacted the store I bought it from; they referred me to a local repairman who fixes Maytag. I talked to him and told him the problem along with the make & model of mine. He ended up telling me what exactly the problem was, & there were about 5 people ahead of me with the same fridge, & same problem... all main compressor problems. Check this out. The compressor part is on back order... so now I have no fridge, & Im stuck with this piece of crap, until MAYTAG finds a compressor to ship to the local repairman. - Last Maytag product I will ever own in my lifetime!!!

I have had this refrigerator for 3.5 years and now this is the second time its gone out! Customer service said, pool house is different than a regular kitchen. I told her that the pool house is 1,000 sq heated/cooled kitchen, bathroom, sitting room. Thats no different than some houses. Why would that make a difference?? The unit has an ice maker. On a regular basis, water would accumulate at the bottom of the freezer pan. When the bottom pan got filled up, water would run out on to my hardwood floor. I related the problem to the ice maker. Researching the problem, I learned that the ice maker has an adjustment for timing the on cycle for filling the ice tray. After several adjustments nothing changed. I ordered a water control valve and installed it. The problem persisted. I installed a water pressure regulator but the problem persisted. I installed a water filter, the problem persisted. I turned off the entire ice maker and the problem persisted. The problem wasnt the ice maker. The real problem was the defrost cycle of the evaporator. The drain for the water was plugged with ice. I made modifications to the design so I could monitor the drain hole in the back of the freezer. Will I purchase another Maytag… probably not?

My refrigerator outer case has felt very warm to the touch at the section between the top freezer door and the lower refrigerator door for several years. I thought this was a normal function of the defrost mode. It is now very hot to the touch so that I cannot touch it for more than a few seconds. I dont know how long it has been like this. This cannot be normal. I did some online checks and found that there was a Consumer Product Safety Commission Recall release #09-145 and 09-322 that warns about the same problem I am having. My model # (MTB215) matches the recall, however, the last two characters in my serial # is WQ does not. This problem appears to be very consistent with the problem in the recall releases.

Purchased this unit back in November 2011. Sometime this year it started leaking water just like many others from the freezer unit onto the floor (many times large puddles). Im tired of the permanent towel on the floor to absorb the water to prevent a potential slipping hazard. I too went online and found a very nice video on youtube which showed how to disassemble the freezer compartment. Took everything apart and noticed that there was water frozen on the supply line. Melted this and put everything back together, for about a week there was no water leaking so I figured all was well. About a week later the puddle was back so I sent an inquiry to Maytag and let them know I had an image of the issue and asked if it was covered through manufacture warranty. Here is their response: Your email is extremely important to us here at the Customer experience Center and we sincerely apologize for any delays in responding to your email. We are working diligently to respond over the telephone and through email to all of our customers. We are sorry to learn of the problem you are experiencing with water leaking from the bottom of the freezer. When calling please press the available option or stay on the line to reach a representative.Frustrated I went online and found this forum where hundreds of other people had the same issue and that many of them were resolved by the new P Trap. So I watched another video by the same guy on youtube that showed how to replace the P Trap. I went online and found the replacement P Trap Manufacturer model # w10619951. One of the comments there actually said to call Maytag first as they were able to get a replacement P Trap for free. I believe if it was under a year old they would also pay for the labor to have it replaced. So this morning I called Maytag, the first guy Jim said I would have to have a certified Tech come out (76 dollar service fee, plus whatever the labor would cost) and Maytag would cover the cost of the part. I asked Jim if he could just send me the part and Ill do it myself, he reassured me that he could NOT do this and that the system was very specific. I told him I did not understand that a bad design and known quality defect, why should I have to pay several hundred dollars to fix? He told me that was the way it is. I asked to speak to his supervisor and put me on hold. Not only was the hold music extremely obnoxious but there was a loud humming noise as well, I waited for 10 minutes hung up and called back. I spoke with Maggie this time. I told her I wanted the part sent to me and if she couldnt help me I wanted to speak to a manager. She said she did not have the authority to ship me the part without approval. She said she could ask for approval and after waiting for about 3 minutes she came back on the line and said she spoke with her supervisor and that they would be sending me the replacement P trap today via FedEx. Had they not sent me the part my next stop was going to be the better business bureau..

We bought a Maytag refrigerator serial # K11101146 and model # MBL2258XES1 on 5/7/2011. We started seeing puddles on the floor about a month ago coming from the bottom freezer. The warranty on the refrigerator was only good for a year. We investigated it further online and saw that a lot of other people were having the same problem. We found a video on Youtube on the solution, which was to tear the bottom frig apart (which is a pain and takes about 3 hours to complete) and to thaw out all the ice accumulated on the coils and run hot water down the drain until that thaws out. It makes a real mess. Now we see that this will probably have to be done again and again from others online who are having the same problem. We never had this problem with any of our refrigerators or any problem with them for that matter. Our last one was a 15-year old Amana and we wanted a more energy efficient refrigerator. We bought this one at Home Depot thinking that this one would last us for the rest of our lives. We are in our mid 60s now. This should not be happening at all especially as much as we paid for the refrigerator. I contacted Maytag and they more or less said, “Sorry about your luck.” I hope something can be done about this, especially for the amount of complaints filed. Unfortunately I did not take pictures but if it happens again, which I understand from other complaints that it will. Thank you.

On Nov 1, 2018 - 14 months after purchasing this top of the line refrigerator - the compressor broke and the freezer stopped functioning. I called Maytag Service who said the soonest they could repair it was Nov 12 - 12 days after it broke. Also they said my 10 year warranty didnt apply unless I had proof of purchase. I said I registered my product online when I bought it but they said they had no record. So they had to charge me full cost of service and parts which would be $1000-$1500.I then called LOWES SERVICE ADVANTAGE - I really like Lowes by the way - and they verified my proof of purchase and that in addition to the appliance warranty I have a 5 YEAR mechanical parts repair warranty through LOWES. Thank goodness I purchased the service warranty from LOWES because Maytag was NOT honoring theirs! So then a repair person from FAST APPLIANCE REPAIR INC came to fix the refrigerator and said because it was the compressor he couldnt repair it so I had to wait a few days later for the COMPRESSOR SPECIALIST to come out. The compressor specialist came and said he didnt have any in stock so had to order one.Six days later - Nov 19 - the compressor arrived at my house. I called FAST APPLIANCE REPAIR and asked for someone to schedule an installation. I said Im RETIRED and can do it any time. They said the soonest they could install it is NOVEMBER 28 - ONE MONTH AFTER IT BROKE. So now Ive lost two large drawers of frozen food that spoiled. I have no refrigerator this week for my birthday and for Thanksgiving. I have to wait another 9 days to get it fixed. I am NOT HAPPY. I am sharing this experience so anyone considering buying this or any other MAYTAG product will think very carefully before making their purchase. Also, be sure to buy from Lowes and get the Lowes service plan for any appliance. Ill try to update this if and when my refrigerator gets repaired.

Maytag french door bottom freezer model #MFF2558VEB5 - It stinks to read all the similar problems Ive had with my unit. Purchased Nov 2011. Problems started within a year. First minor, deli drawer broke. I use clear duck tape to operate it and that has been fine. But not acceptable. About a year ago the water leak out of bottom freezer was noticed. The bottom inside is frozen sheet. I break up and manually remove quite often. NOTE: I intentionally do not use, did not install, the ice maker - historically they are poor risk so I dont bother. The ice unit is in the machine but not installed. I assume my water build up which freezes on bottom related to poor design of defrost drain and that is supported by other comments here. I find it disgusting. Live and learn. Its B.S.

We purchased our French Door, bottom freezer in April 2010 after a renovation. We have loved it besides needing more refrigerated space. This past weekend I noticed the appliance was cutting off and a few seconds later coming back on. It has an outside ice and water dispenser as well and the lights will blink on and off of course when the fridge cut off. Called for a repair and when the repairman called in the parts he was told he needed 2 computer boards. One was available however the other was discontinued and they would not allow him to just replace the one board. The fridge cost us $1798.00 from Home Depot. I cant believe how irresponsible Maytag is in this case. I have a kitchen full of MAYTAG appliances and have loved them all. But this is unacceptable. The Maytag fridge I had before was 16 years old. I gave it to a family member when we bought this one and that one just broke down last year so it was 21 years old! Whats up MAYTAG?

I purchased a French Door, Bottom Freezer refrigerator in the summer of 2006. Less than 3 years later, the ice maker door kept opening and closing and the lights on the door panel kept flashing. I called Maytag and found out there was a problem with the circuit board, and that it was under recall. The refrigerator was fixed at no charge and I was happy. Approximately 2-1/2 months ago, less than 7 years after I bought the fridge, it started getting too cold inside and then too warm and then too cold, etc. Then it stopped cooling altogether. From what I read, it was either a problem with the compressor or the relay on the compressor. There was a recall on the relay on some models, but not on mine. I cant even afford a service call. Let alone a repair charge. If the compressor is the problem, Im looking at a repair bill in the hundreds of dollars. The online price for a compressor is over $300. I dont have the money. So the beautiful refrigerator that I paid $2,000 for sits in the kitchen, unplugged. I never figured that Id pay that kind of money for a refrigerator and have 2 major problems with it in less than 7 years. I just got off the phone with Maytag and, of course, they cant do anything to help me. I was hoping to never buy another refrigerator, but if I have to or if I have to buy any other appliance, I will never ever buy another Maytag or Whirlpool. I will post everywhere I can about my experiences with this refrigerator.

Home Depot, where we purchased it, directed us to the A&E Company for service. Two weeks later, we are still without refrigeration; Maytag refuses to replace it and even refused to overnight the new compressor. We thought Maytag set an industry standard for excellence. Don’t buy this product if you want a reliable refrigerator from a company that stands behind its products.

Our bottom freezer began building up ice. We cleared the ice and unclogged the drain gasket as per the many instructions that we found online. Researching this problem, I discovered very quickly that this is due to a faulty design of the drain grommet. A new part has been substituted by Maytag. I called Maytag customer service and they refused to supply the replacement at no cost to me and claimed there is no quality issue. This is not about the $20 for the part. It is a leading consumer brand disregarding customer satisfaction. This is also bad business. They will sacrifice their reputation for a $20 part on a $1,000+ purchase. They need to be put on notice that they cannot get away with this in the age of the web where there is total transparency.

I have had this refrigerator for less than 3 years. It recently started leaking water on the floor and all over the bottom of the freezer. Repairman said it is a flaw with the defrost drain design. He thinks Maytag MIGHT have changed it since I purchased mine, but I dont know. Originally they used this small rubber valve;repairman said they get clogged very easily (even though I vacuum around it regularly and dont have any pets). He replaced that part with something sturdy that looks like a p trap. I looked online and there are loads of complaints about this exact issue with the defrost drain clogging. It cost $250 to have it repaired. I called Maytag to ask to be reimbursed and of course they will not do anything since it is out of warranty. Its a shame Maytag wont stand behind their products. Since there are so many of us with this issue, cant something be done?

Its an old story with Maytag. We purchased a refrigerator in Nov 2012. Three days ago we noticed the refrigerator was making a constant buzzing sound and that the freezer was not cold. A repairman confirmed our suspicions. Bad compressor! Cost to repair, $729. And, the warranty on the new compressor was only 90 days. Cost for a new one $1700. Contacted Maytag. We do offer extended warranties (up to 10 years on compressors) on some models, but not yours. So, we will get a new one but with the extended warranty. It wont be a Maytag.

We bought a refrigerator June 4th 2014. 6 month ago the freezer and refrigerator was getting warm. Had to call repair service, it was the blower! On Saturday 12/9/17 freezer wasnt freezing, then fridge was clicking on and off. Unplugged it, called repair service, it was the compressor. $800.00 to fix it, the same amount as when we purchased it. Repair service told us to call Maytag, he said, Maybe they will help you, would not help at all. Talked to Lori, all she said was warranty is up after a year, I then said, I think a refrigerator should last longer than 3 years! Will never buy anything Maytag again! Yes Maytag does SUCK!!!

We purchased a Maytag bottom-freezer refrigerator MBL2258XES1 from Home Depot on 12/30/2011. Other than being a bit noisy, it functioned without problem for a little over two years after which we noticed water pooling on the floor, just below the left-front corner of the bottom-freezer door. It was shortly thereafter we noticed the large sheet of ice that covered the entire floor of the freezer. Over the past several months I pull out the large towel, my spatula, my meat tenderizer and break up and lift out the ice onto the towel around every two weeks. Thanks Whirlpool/Maytag! At least that Maytag repairman isnt lonely anymore.UPDATED ON 03/18/2015: I called Maytag Customer Service, (800) 344-1274 to discuss remedies for my Maytag/Whirlpool bottom-freezer refrigerator which has a perpetual layer of ice on the floor of the freezer which leaks onto my floor. I was offered a product called Repair Plus One which includes parts and service for this repair and they throw in a 1-year warranty. The cost: $359.95. The representative informed me I only had 24 hours to make up my mind as the offer was time limited. I asked if there were any other remedies available to me and she said none other than a service call.

The water drainage tube on the Maytag Refrigerators is DEFECTIVE and needs
The water drainage tube on the Maytag Refrigerators is DEFECTIVE and needs to be replaced during manufacturing of the appliances!!!!!!! The existing drainage tube kit in the appliance has a very tiny opening for the water to drain and what was not factored in during this manufacturing of the refrigerators was bacteria and dirt build up from the water draining to CLOG this very TINY opening in the existing drainage tube system. This results in the water having no place to drain except causing an ice build up in the freezer and then water draining onto the floor when it has no where to drain in the appliance. I am told by my reputable Maytag repairman, who also needed the same repair, that replacing the water tube drain #W10619951 occurs with customers 4-8 times PER WEEK in his practice. This is obviously an ONGOING defect that Whirlpool is IGNORING and needs to be addressed and corrected with some type of compensation for its customers. The service call and the replacement of the drain tube kit #W10619951 cost me $122.31. My Maytag refrigerator with a bottom freezer is less than 3 years old.Amazing also if you google MAYTAG refrigerator leaking water there is a MULTITUDE of youtube videos and websites instructing the consumer on HOW to replace this part in the refrigerator. Obviously there is a strong need for this instructional information to the consumer for this repair since it is an ONGOING PROBLEM that has not been addressed legally with manufacturer. Action needs to be taken. I am saving the original part that was removed from the appliance in case a class action remedy is necessary to correct this costly defect in the Maytag Refrigerators.

I purchased a Maytag double door refrigerator in 2012. So far the deli drawer has broken 3 times in the same way. There is a plastic peg attached to a side panel on the refrigerator. This pin breaks off after a few months of use. To repair it, you have to replace the entire side panel. The parts and labor costs are about $200 each time. It is obviously a design flaw that Maytag should fix. If you repair it every time it breaks, in about 8 years your repair costs are more than your original purchase price for the refrigerator. Dont buy Maytag products. They are inferior.

We moved into our first house just over two years ago and decided we needed
We moved into our first house just over two years ago and decided we needed to get a new refrigerator. We did a ton of research online, reading reviews, etc. We found a few not so great complaints regarding Maytag; however, we took our chances. (Note that we live in a house built in the 40s, so the fridge space is small and we needed a fridge size that is smaller than normal. We didnt have many options.) Well, a little less than 12 months later (yes, luckily right before the warranty expired) our ice dispenser stopped working properly. The mini-ice door would not close properly, resulting in a lot of frost in where the ice door was located. (There was so much we couldnt open the freezer door. It would get stuck.) So, we called out the repair guy and he said he had never seen this issue before and basically had to replace the whole flap and parts. Sweet. It was fixed and cost was covered! Well, about 5 months later, it happened again! Ah, they got it fixed yet again. Well, another six months later and after the warranty expired (lucky us), the fridge completely stopped cooling. (And it just happened to be Halloween, not a great day for a house issue.) So, we had to remove all our perishable food and place it in a cooler (which works hundred times better than Maytag products), and move all frozen food to a family members house 15 minutes away (luckily!). We were also super lucky we found a repair company that could come out at 5pm the next day, which happened to be a Friday! Awesome company (Conners Repair in Metro-Detroit). He concluded the defrost board was broken, meaning it was freezing and creating frost and then not defrosting, clogs the vents and not allowing circulation to occur. He was shocked when he found out we only had this fridge for 2 years and said this is something that normally happens in 20-year old fridges. I then decided to call Maytag and nicely requested a refund for the issue. I was told no due to the warranty expiring and also because we didnt use a Maytag repair company. I didnt want to wait a week as I thought this was something that needed immediate attention. I also am not sure why it matters who you get to fix your fridge. I have an invoice for proof of the issue and the repairman even said hed call to verify the issue. I don’t understand why I have to pay for something that was not properly produced, and not to mention the time out of my schedule to deal with Maytags issues. I now know not to buy any Maytag products due to the lack quality. I guess I learned the hard way.

I want to document my experience with Maytag refrigerator model # 1958XEW1
I want to document my experience with Maytag refrigerator model # 1958XEW1 and serial # K12947360. I purchase this refrigerator several years ago as a result of a recommendation of a general contractor who was doing kitchen remodeling work for me. After doing a brief online research on Maytag I went to Yale Electric a store in Boston to purchase a Maytag refrigerator. Worst mistake I ever made and I will never buy a Maytag product again (sad to say). This refrigerator has been leaking since the day it arrived from the store. Unfortunately for me I didnt notice the fridge leaking until after the warranty had expired (my bad). The leak was such as I could not isolate or say it was the fridge because the water would pool in an area that was away from the frig on my kitchen floor. One day by coincidence I actually saw the fridge leak so then I knew the water on my floor was coming from the fridge. I contacted Maytag who mentioned by that time my warranty had expired, however other people who had purchase this fridge model were experiencing the same problem. Maytag said that this leak problem could be fixed by changing the tubing located in the freezer section of the refrigerator to what they called a duckbill type of tubing. So I had that part sent to me and it was installed in the refrigerator freezer area. As you can imagine because I am writing this negative review that the water leak problem was not corrected and there is still water pooling on my floor from this refrigerator. I will never buy a Maytag product again and I wanted to share this experience with other potential buyers of Maytag products.

I bought a refrigerator from Home Depot in July 2013. In late November 2014, I noticed water on the floor in front of the fridge. I called the Maytag customer service and reported the problem.. The customer service rep explained to me that Maytag discovered a design flaw in the part that allows the water to drain when going through the defrost cycle. I also called Home Depot. Their response was it was my problem because the fridge was out of warranty and I did not buy an extended warranty plan. After two more calls to Maytag, they scheduled a service appointment. The service repairman told me the same thing about the design flaw. I have the old part and the package the new part was in. The two parts are completely different. I requested that Maytag or Home Depot replace the fridge or give me credit for the amount I spent. Maytag is now saying there was not a design flaw and because of that, Home Depot refuses to replace the appliance. I will never buy another Maytag product or shop at Home Depot. The extended warranty is a way to place the responsibility directly on the consumer and eliminating the responsibility of the manufacturer and the store.

Approximately one week ago, the display on my fridge began to flash and ice door flap continuously opens and closes. Upon researching the issue, it seems to be a very common issue and a known defect. One in which was apparently a recall at one point. I was told by a Maytag representative that the recall was from 2007 to 2009 and has since expired. Expired? Its a known defect and should be the responsibility of Maytag to provide the parts and labor to repair the fridge. I asked for a supervisor and was told that one would contact me within 24 hours. Well, about a week later, I never received that call so I called Maytag again. This time I was told by the maytag representative and a supervisor that there was no recall and that it was a Quality issue. A play with words, in my opinion. Anyhow, regardless of the title the issue was given, I was told I would be responsible for the repairs and costs. I attempted to look up the recall on Maytags website and had seen the last two letters of the serial number to my fridge listed under the recall, but when I tried to investigate further, the site referred me to the 800 phone number I had been calling. Now, had this been an issue that was not a known defect and apparently a recall, I wouldnt be writing on this site right now. But, because it is a known defect that maytag is aware of, I think its Maytags responsibility to pay for the parts and labor for my fridge.

February 2019, the same thing happened again. I placed the service call on 01-31-2019 for service, but the tech could not come out until 2/6/19. The part had to be ordered and could not be installed until 2-28-2019. For the 3rd time, Ive lost my food. My best friend that has appliances that are nearly 30 years old. I have a bottom freezer Maytag refrigerator that is about 4 years old. It started leaking and continued to get worse fast... It appears that the gasket around the freezer drawer does not seal about half way up. It causes a sheet of ice inside the freezer, so I am not sure if it leaks due to the ice defrosting. The refrigerator doors do not seem as if they shut tight either. After reading many of these comments about Maytag refrigerators, I am not sure at this point if it might be better to buy a new one rather than fix this one??? Purchased new Maytag Refrigerator from Mannys in Western MA. Top freezer, over $900.00. Never has worked correctly. We need to turn the freezer way up to freeze the ice cream and it forms frost all around the freezer with mini icicles hanging! But even worse... no matter what setting you put the refrigerator on it ruins your food by freezing everything. The only safe spot is in the deli drawer. I have thrown away hundreds of dollars worth of food that is destroyed because it froze in the refrigerator.A service man from Mannys came and ordered parts. He came back and said they were the wrong parts. Now he says that the refrigerator has a problem and Maytag is trying to come out with a plan on how to fix it. I talked with Maytag (took 44 minutes to get someone on the phone). The manager in service was rude, said they dont replace food and they would work on fixing it. 2 weeks later... no calls from either place. I called Mannys and they said they should have some news by next week. In the meantime I dont have a refrigerator that works! NEVER BUY A MAYTAG REFRIGERATOR!!!
