We purchased a Maytag MFI2670XEW6 french door/Bottom freezer refrigerator in July of 2012 through Home Depot and for the past 6 months have had to scrape ice off the bottom of freezer every 5 days or so to prevent water flowing on floor. I see so many exact complaints from people that I am just fuming! Cannot believe this company is not backing their products up with that issue. A recall should most definitely been done. I grew up believing Maytag was top of the line but I am wrong. I bought this to replace a 16 year old GE refrigerator (side by side) which I never had any problem with and now I regret not replacing it with another GE. I havent contacted the company yet as I thought I would check complaint reviews before I did that but it seems that the company is just treating their customers like dirt. To spend $2200 for a refrigerator and have problems within the first 3 years is unacceptable!!! They had better start going good on this problem or face the fact that they will no longer be in business a short time down the road. The best form of advertising is word of mouth and online reviews and it looks like they are going to lose a lot of customers with the direction they are taking.

Now half way through washing the dishes again no water will go into the machine. Only the first part of the cycle. I am sure it is going to be the panel box after reading other peoples problems with this machine. I will not pay to have it fixed this time. I will have to buy a new dishwasher. I will never purchase a Maytag product ever again. I have lived in my home for 40 years and never had a problem with any appliances. This would have been my third dishwasher in 40 years and as you can see it has not even lasted 4 years. I will inform my friends to stay away from Maytag.

I would like others to know that Maytag does not stand behind this product at all. I am not sure about other products, but after talking to Maytags customer service team I would guess you would get the same runaround with other products. We have had our washers for about eight years now and have had many things go wrong with it. The one that gets me the most is the one that my appliance repair service does not cover and that is the main bearing. I have done some research to why this is and most of them do not cover this, because they should last for the life of the washer. Most washers last for more than ten years. However this washer has only lasted a few years on each bearing. I have now put in my third bearing into this washer. The last bearing only lasted two years. If I had to pay for labor on replacing this part I would have not replaced it. I had been given a quote for replacing it and it was over $350. Some places wanted more than $400 to do it. To me the washer is not worth this. Yes we paid like $900 for the washer, but it is not worth putting that much money into this washer. If you cannot replace this part on your own then just walk away from it. Buy a Speed Queen. I know Maytag has sent parts to other people free of charge, but I have not been so lucky. When you send others part to fix the same problem, to me that is admitting that there is a flaw in this washer. With that said my wife and I already filed a BBB complaint against Maytag and will be sending a letter to the Minnesota Attorney General. I have proof they have sent replacement parts to others and dont see why they cannot do the same for me. Maytag is own by Whirlpool, you think it would be cheaper and easier to make customers happy than just brushing them off. I would say that customer service in many of these large companies and even small companies is gone. I remember when you would call a company and make a complaint and they would go out of their way to try to make you happy. Now they come up with reasons why it is all the customers fault that their products are bad. Maytag is just another example of a greedy business that does not care about their customers. So please do your research before you buy this product and good luck to those who have that are stuck with the junk that Maytag sells customers.

I suppose I am the lucky one in that the Maytag Bravos was given to me free. I took out a perfectly good Maytag standard agitator washing machine and replaced it with this several years old unit. What a mistake! I read the other reviews and see that I share the same problems. I always get a the oL fault as soon as it goes to do the final spin. So I have to reset and try again. Also I have seen the same kind of dirt on the clothing as others report. I dont know that I will waste my time contacting anyone about the fault code. I may just put the old one back in and scrap this thing!

I first had issues with it putting holes in my clothes. I then found out if you do not zip up all zippers and button all buttons, the machine will rip them up due to the high speed spin cycles. Adding this on since I forgot about it, I have dogs and wash their blankets often, not that theyre dirty just for the dog smell. I have to wash them on the sanitize cycle which is an 1.5 hours long because if I use the normal cycle which is only 43 minutes they come out smelling exactly the same way they went in. I saw someone else post that their mothers front loader doesnt put in enough water so Im wondering if thats what happens to mine. So wish I would have checked the reviews before buying, thought I was getting a great washer buying Maytag.This is what I wrote on their FB page: I bought a Maytag front loading washer on 5/10/16 which was delivered and set up on 5/13/16. On Wednesday 10/19/16 it stopped working, so just over 5 months from the day it was installed. I called your company on 10/20/16 for repairs, they couldnt get here until today, 10/24, so 5 days with no washer. The customer service rep had all the details on what happened and Im sure passed them along to the repair company. He ran diagnostics, said it was the drain pump which was obvious even to me, but claimed to not have one with him even though they were in stock. Cant make it back until Wednesday, so two more days with no washer. He then proceeded to tell me that the dryer had to come off (stacked on top since the washer is a front loader) before he got back, that the warranty wouldnt cover two people coming out. So Im supposed to spend more money to hire someone to come out, take off the dryer and then pay them again to come back and put it back on. I called the customer service department again and was told they dont cover installation which stacking is. She said the warranty doesnt cover stacked units, as far as I can find that isnt stated in the warranty so please let me know where that is stated in writing. So I have a just over 5-month-old washer that needs repair already (bodes well for the future doesnt it??), will be without a washer for almost a week because the repairman didnt bring the most obvious part with him (maybe wanted to be paid for two calls?) and have to pay someone else for installation so it can be fixed. So wheres the Maytag man? I am not a happy customer and will be letting as many people know as possible. Ill be in the market for other new appliances soon, will sure as hell make sure theyre not made by Maytag, Whirlpool et all.

It did not ever clean clothes properly and all stains remained even when you spot clean first and double rinse. Should have had the Bosch repaired, but wanted a topload for a change, new look etc. From day 2 the washer began to squeal during the early cycle and at the end as well. Maytag repair was out for an unrelated repair on another appliance. I told the tech about it and he suggested its brand new etc, give it time to settle in.Now 4 months in and another service call to tell me its nothing!! It squeals so loud I can not run it while in the next room. I have videoed it and sent it to the Maytag repair in Glenwood Springs, and he said I should load it only full enough to see the impeller at all times!!!! Forget a full load of work clothes or a pillow or blanket. Which is to be expected to be able to wash. He said I needed to spread the clothes out manually along the outer sides of the TUB only, prior to washing the clothes! not over the impeller. I am not kidding! This is a open tub, so the impeller is the little thing in the middle on the bottom. I advised him, I videoed the event and even with three socks in it for a test it still squeals like a (well you get the idea). Trying to get Maytag help, but nowhere. Matching dryer door hinge broke first week, it has been repaired. Not good quality at all for the top of line Maytag. Then Maytag Man must be busier these days, than of old.

Have owned Maytags (washer and dryers) for 40 years. I bought a Bravos top load washer and matching dryer because we gave our old set to a daughter leaving for college. That was less than four years ago! We bought this because it conserved water and there would only be my husband and myself home. So laundry needs would be minimal. The washer quit draining and starting making a terrible noise several days ago. Immediately called repair service - I knew from the onset this was going to be a big problem because when I told them the model, they responded - uh oh! Two days later service man comes to assess repair and lifts machine up and tells me bad seal has leaked to gear box and ruined it. Soooo for a machine that is less than 4 years old, I will have to pay $280 for part, $79 for service call, $60 for labor and $35 to have them pick it up and redeliver (because the repair is too big to be made in my home). $454 for a machine that gets minimal use!!!! I can add another $100 plus and buy a brand new machine. Why should I have to??? In doing some research, I found out this is a common issue with this model and Maytag has paid for the repair of other washers because it is a common problem. Even the serviceman said that and recommended I get a hold of Maytag. Their response - sorry mam you dont gave an extended warranty. (NOW I HAVE A LEMON!) Guess my next step is to write a letter to Maytag Corporate Office. I will keep going up the ladder until they address this flawed machine problem! One thing is for certain - I will never ever buy another Maytag product of any kind or will I ever recommend it. They are just not reliable. Guess, nowadays they are considered throw away products - keep them a few years and throw them away because its not worth your money and effort to repair them :-(

He told us to unplug and reset it, but that never did the trick. Eight months later, the fridge stopped cooling. We called our local repairman and he told us ($97 later) that the compressor was out. He said we should contact Maytag because the compressor should be under a 5-year warranty. Then the nightmare began. I spoke to four different reps with a total hold time of about 2 hours. Two of the reps put me on hold to get a supervisor and/or consult another rep and I was mysteriously cut off each time. One rep told me my compressor wasnt covered under warranty. The last rep I spoke to told me it was covered and he scheduled a Maytag repairman to come and replace the compressor. I was thrilled. The repairman came out and informed me that the compressor was indeed out and handed me a bill for $137. I asked why I was being billed and he said because that was the way that Maytag had ordered the service call. I told him that the Maytag rep had assured me that Maytag was covering the repair. He apologized and said that not only was I obliged to pay for the diagnosis (which I didnt need because I had already paid my local guy for the same information), but that it would cost $900 to replace the compressor. I was flabbergasted. I called Maytag and they denied all responsibility. They said that even though the rep had assured me of Maytags commitment to replace the compressor under the 5-year warranty, he had made a mistake and I wasnt actually covered. So I paid our local repairman to replace the compressor, because by that time, we had been living out of ice chests for 2 weeks. That was 3 weeks ago. Now the unit is freezing water on the bottom of the freezer and then leaking water on the floor. It is unconscionable that this company be allowed to defraud people to this extent. I will never buy a Maytag again and I would like to be informed of any class action suit. This company should be deeply, deeply ashamed of itself.

Maytag Quiet Series 200 only 1.2 years old: I moved into my home about 2 months ago and the touch panel on the dishwasher, which is of course just past the warranty expiration date, has progressively gotten worse until now, doesnt work at all. I have tried calling Maytag many times on numerous occasions, who apparently only has one phone line because its ALWAYS busy. The cost for the touch panel on this dishwasher (model# MDBH945AWS3) is $150 which isnt even worth fixing since I can go to Lowes and buy a new FRIGIDAIRE for $300. The problem is the circuitry from the touch panel to the control board gets too much moisture in it with no protection around it. If I were them, I would find a way to make all these parts separate so regular people, like you and I, would be able to buy parts a lot more cheaply and repair these items ourselves. However, since the front panel and the circuitry attached to it is all one cohesive unit that cant be taken apart from one another, nearly at all without ruining it, then I might have been posting a different review here. However, that is not the case. IF I could actually get in touch with Maytag, I would ask why on earth isnt this a recalled item and when they are shipping me a new part since it seems everyone is having the same issue with their Maytag dishwasher, no matter what series it is. I do not plan on buying a Maytag appliance in the future. I do plan on buying a Frigidaire since the rest of my appliances (stove, fridge and overhead microwave) work perfectly without any issues whatsoever.

The repairman replaced the computer board called a jazz board stating that the bulbs in the fridge part are too close to the board and the heat can cause the board to short out. He suggested switching bulbs to 25 watts which cannot be found for fridges. The freezer continues to go out and sometimes restarts itself or by flipping the breaker switch, brings it back. In the meantime, food is ruined. Yesterday, he put a new starter relay on the compressor stating that this series of fridge/ freezer has had a problem with the compressor and Maytag will not take responsibility for this. There is no recall at this time and we are waiting to see if this corrects the problem or if the freezer will continue to go out. Thank you for your help in this matter.

With no warning, I heard a loud pop about 3 min into a cycle and overheating. If I hadnt been home might have caught on fire. Good for us we live close to a coin laundry so in no rush to replace but can bet when I do it wont be Maytag and thats too bad. Maytag dishwasher model MDBH979SAM1 purchased December 2012 From Home Depot. After only 14 months of usage the front panel ceased to work. Contacted maytag about issue and they responded THERE ARE NO KNOWN ISSUES WITH THIS MODEL. After doing some research (5 seconds), I have found thousands of people with the exact same issue. Maytag has stuck their head in the sand. Either they are ignoring this issue or just dont care due to excessive cost of replacement. This is obviously a design flaw due to poor engineering and Maytag needs to stand behind their product and fix this issue. Personally we had to save up for 1 1/2 years in order to afford a dishwasher. Now we are stuck. Some people have replaced this part costing $200 2-3 times. I cannot afford to take the chance on a repair. I will have to start saving again for a new dishwasher and this one will not be a Maytag. (Less)

In the last month, though, I have noticed that there are blue stains on the new drum. I do not leave clothes in the dryer wet. Last week, the washer stopped agitating or cleaning clothes even though the cycle would still run. I called for a service call and paid $82 for this. I found out the transmission was not working. This is not covered under the warranty. The warranty for entire machine is only 1 year. The 2-10 year warranty only covers the drive motor and wash basket. I cannot understand why a transmission is not covered. I feel like they are not standing behind their product. Finally, after a lot of talking, I did get Maytag to agree to cover the cost of the transmission part; but I am still obligated to pay $150 for labor. Why are products not standing up to use as in the past? I am very disappointed with these products.

New one ordered. In meantime I have called maytag every week with no results, they tried to get me to accept 100.00 gift card, I laughed, as we are a family of 6 and generally have 6-8 loads a week. And have spent on average 70.00 a week for the last 14 weeks, we could have bought another washer by now. Last maytag lasted 16 years! This one 3 months...They finally decided to replace it, but we wont recieved it for another 4-5 weeks. So, 20 - 22 weeks of no brand new washer bought in good faith, brand rep, and paid for based on prior experience. So far, No customer service, No brand reputation, No product longevity. I will never buy another maytag, ever. If you only had negative stars to award this useless product. This is almost criminal, and is close to being fraudulent and willfully deceitful. It is false advertising and to date they have not really stood behind their product...

Called Maytag repair company but they couldnt come out for a couple of days. Called another local repair service familiar with Maytag refrigerators and he couldnt find anything wrong with refrigerator even though he knows leaking caused by refrigerator. Called insurance co. and they sent over service master. Leak is definitely coming from refrigerator. They had to pull up hardwood floor, part of walls, the dining room. They now have five large fans going and a defroster to dry things up. This is upsetting, as my daughters wedding is next month, my husband is currently laid off and I dont need this kind of aggravation again. I love the french door idea, so roomy for my large family, but I am now afraid of this refrigerator. I dont want it but think it is ridiculous I have to shell out more money when the refrigerator is less than 3 years old. I talked with a higher level supervisor at Maytag and they are only willing to give a 100.00 rebate towards a new refrigerator since the refrigerator is out of warranty. This is ridiculous. I thought by buying American I was helping our economy but what I got in return is heartache and crappy merchandise. You could hear clunking noises and it had nothing to do with load being balanced. Did a small load and same thing with water level and spin cycle. Called Home Depot to pick up both machines on next business day. The dryer lint trap is so long, it made a mess trying to remove the lint even after only 1 load. NEVER AGAIN MAYTAG! Ive never regretted an appliance purchase like I do now. Maytag and April Fools day are a perfect match. Only its for real and not a joke.

Thinking this $900 modern piece of machinery painstakingly designed by intelligent people with university degrees would certainly work if I just stuck the plastic part back in. I just popped it back in, the lid locked, and the machine spun away happily (only having to run a correct cycle for an unbalanced load twice! What joy!) Fast forward 40 minutes, I skip down the stairs to go retrieve my flannel sheets (because its October in Pennsylvania, its getting freezing cold at night) and pull up gently to open the lid. It doesnt budge. About 2 hours later, following a screaming match and some furious googling, it was determined we would need two people to pop the entire top off the machine to extract my sheets.So in order to use the washer to clean clothing now, weve been unplugging the machine. Removing the three screws on the control panel (aka brainbox), unplugging the black and white wire from the brain box, taking the control panel off and sitting it on the dryer, and using putty knives to push in the metal clips holding down the top of the machine down, and prying the entire top of the machine back on its hinge. Then I can get my clothes out. Then doing so in reverse (dont forget to add detergent before shutting the lid! It will lock and you will have to pop the entire top off again.) to use the washer. All because of a 5 cent piece of PLASTIC. What brainchild figured, Eh, we can just use plastic for this important piece that the washer wont run properly without. It doesnt matter!? Someone that wanted to make $300 a pop doing service calls thats who.I cant believe Maytag has gone so far down the tubes. In case anyone else ran into this problem and needs to fix it, write down the model number, serial number, and other crud listed under the lid. Then use them to wipe while youre in the bathroom. All you need is the company and part number on the lid lock mechanism. According to Maytags website my washer doesnt exist. And there was no way, no matter how creatively I googled, to find a part for it with the Maytag model number. So now I have to try to find this measly mechanism to replace and try to use this piece of crud for a few more months. I guess my Christmas present this year is buying a new washer. And you can BET it will not be a Maytag.And two more things: with no agitator, you can fit really big stuff, but you also get to hear your washing machine dancing on your basement floor with an uneven load. No matter how many times you try to re-position items, it runs a corrective cycle, refills with water, and spins everything into a ball AGAIN. Also, the miserable thing is starting to rust. Right on the sides and near the lid hinge, and all around the bleach receptacle. How cheap, a washer on which the paint rusts right off with chlorine bleach.I wish I still had my Grandpas old 1930s wringer Maytag. At least I knew that one would work without a cheap piece of plastic. And at this point I might prefer wringing my clothes to hearing my washer try to escape. In short: cheap parts, no replacements available through company for DIY repairmen, company designed to force customers to use their servicing for $300 a pop. 1/10 would NOT recommend Maytag.

From the beginning, we had problems with our French door refrigerator (MFC2061HEW; it has been discontinued). Within the first year we had 3 ice makers replaced because it was not making any ice. Now, mind you, we went through Maytag to have their repairman to service our appliance and they set up all the service calls. We limped by for awhile and called a different repairman to come and check the fridge because it was not staying cold or making ice again and, of course, it was out of warranty. The first thing he did was check the freon and we were told that it didnt have enough freon to keep it going, so he recharged it and it worked great. We have had to have the repairman come back again this month because it stopped making ice and the temperature for upper and lower was all over the place. He checked the freon again and said the unit has a slow leak in it and he was unable to fix that. I contacted Maytag because I felt if the first repairman had checked the freon from the beginning, we wouldnt be having this problem. The only suggestion I got from them was call a company with a dye kit test and that they are sorry, but its not under warranty. I dont know about anyone else, but $2000.00 for a fridge that has been a pain since day one is a lot of money to replace. I feel they dont care about their customers and they should be responsible for paying for the repair that should have been caught from the get-go.

Now weve been arguing with Home Depot and Maytag all morning trying to get someone to my home to get the washer fixed. This set cost $1,400 and Maytag is not supporting us on selling us 2 lemon washing machines. We are stuck because we cant return them or exchange them. Home Depot gave us an option to exchange for a lesser model that they have in stock. When you read the reviews for that model the reviews are terrible. I would highly recommend that you do not purchase a Maytag or Whirlpool product. Their company does not stand behind their products or their workmanship. If I had the opportunity I would return these to the store. But it has been over 30 days and I believe that is not an option. Stuck with a lemon. Very sad that customer service is so crappy on an American-made product.

We are now faced with purchasing a new washer, which will not match the dryer; or we have to purchase a washer and dryer of another brand. Only time she varied from the script was to explain that modern high-efficiency appliances dont tend to last as long as ones 20 years ago. 18 months? Really? I might buy that if it was a mechanical durability design issue. Supervisors responses were also scripted, pointing back to the 12-month warranty. She said she did a warranty search on my model and that there was no warranty concern for this problem (really?). If there was, she might be able to help me. I guess there is no warranty history because most failures are between 12-24 months and the consumer has to pay for replacement outside of warranty. No semblance of customer service or customer care, just repeating what is on their website. Response was: I am sorry you are dissatisfied with the product and my response, but there is nothing I am authorized do. Sent an email to Maytag customer service regarding the problem and customer service interaction. They called back saying they stand by the original customer reps response, but offered to have someone else come out to give a second opinion on the problem. From what I read here, that doesnt seem necessary. Wish Maytag/Whirlpool would at least acknowledge that there is a problem, even the auto industry seems to have figured out a way to equip the service industry with known recurring problem history (TSB) and offer token help to keep customer loyalty. Apparently another quality organization fallen victim to short-sighted methods of maintaining shareholder value.

Once the warranty lapses, they could care less whether their product blows up. Thats the customers problem. Whatever happened to building a quality product that lasted and customers bought for generations? Obviously, thats a thing of the past.My goal in writing this is to make consumers aware of appliance warranties. When I spoke to Lucas, a Maytag customer service supervisor, he informed me their products offered no warranty on the finish of the product. So, according to Lucas, the finish on your brand new Maytag appliance could flake off like dandruff and its your problem regardless whether its a manufacturing defect or not. Remember, buyer beware!

The result was the sensors work independently from each other (tested correct in the Ohms range). It made it through an entire diagnostic test, but will not complete a wash cycle. The repair guy concluded that the control board was bad. Estimated cost to fix was upwards of $400. I cannot afford to fix. Our issue with this product is that it is apparent, from reading all the forums, that this is a known issue. And we believe Maytag should be reimbursing consumers for this repair or they should recall the washer. Our washer is used on the weekends and it should have lasted us for minimally five years. All we wanted was to make it through one military overseas tour with it, not asking much. Instead, this machine lasted two years. Unacceptable.

Here is my question, this failure mode is obviously a designed in feature providing planned obsolescence to the device. Why is this company not being held to account for the damages in this case? Are all the judges that bought that no suit can be brought?Have all of you contacted your state consumer protection organizations regarding this issue? I would also recommend that you write both your state senator, the state consumer protection organization and any media outlets you can think of. High rate of control panel failure, devices activating by themselves when people are potentially away from the house, risk of fire or flooding... these are serious things and I would think a story that some news organization would surely be interested in digging into. Now that would serve to light a little fire under the Maytag organization if something like that was to occur.This sure seems to me to be a defrauding of the consumer - selling them a product at the top end of the price range that has such a significant design flaw that in the end can only be considered not fit for purpose. I havent yet contacted Maytag and Home Depot (who I believe are fully complicit in this as well), but I will be doing so to give them a chance to make this right, which I fully expect them to decline to do. Then I will begin writing letters. Am also considering small claims court. But above all, do not just accept this and move on! Companies like this need to be held to account, and they need to be reported so that others purchasing new devices in the future know to stay away from them.

We purchased it from TA Appliances in Barrie, Ontario who recommended that we call B&K Appliance repair to fix it. The owner showed up and said he would be back to us in a few days to fix it, as soon as part arrives. He now wont return calls and it has been two weeks, so we called Maytag customer service. We knew we were in trouble when we received a message telling us Due to higher than normal call volume... (so much for the Maytags that never need repair). Anyway, we finally reached an incompetent, ignorant and anti-customer service representative who proceeded to tell us in an extremely, nasally drawl that the part needed to fix our 6 years old dryer is no longer available and the most they could offer as compensation for this on our $1500 plus tax dryer that should last at least 10 years is $120. This is for a dryer we never used more than 5 times a week.

Worst Washer ever...hated it from day one of receiving it (but couldnt return because moving into new place, took awhile to get it installed, and by then the 30 day return window had lapsed, so now stuck with this piece of garbage!). Is ALWAYS off balance whenever you wash anything of weight (i.e.: towels, sheets, blankets etc.). It takes me close to 2 hrs to get these items washed because I have to keep starting and stopping it to try to get it to spin dry because it ALWAYS throws the items so is off bal. and wont spin. Then when you hit pause, adj. bal., & start it again, it starts REWASHING the items (instead of continuing on from where you left off), and sometimes when it cant balance in the spinning cycle it just shuts down making you think the full cycle is complete, only to open up the lid to find your clothes all sopping wet. Also, NONE of the cycles will get any of my clothes clean...it just uses so little water your clothes come out feeling grungy and still dirty. I have had to resort to ONLY using the BULKY cycle because it is the ONLY cycle that will use a higher water level (mainly because bulky items like towels will absorb the water so it needs to add more). With this cycle at least my clothes dont FEEL dirty when they are done washing!There is no way of knowing how much time is left on any of the cycles, which is a real problem when you have to start and stop it, because you really have no idea how far back it goes to start itself up all over again. There is just no way to time it, because it keeps messing up where you have to keep stopping/starting it, and then you have no idea of time frame. Never saw a machine built so UNUSER friendly!I will NEVER buy a MAYTAG washer again, and NEVER will I buy a washer unless it HAS the center agitator, and a control for water level. These HE washers are the worst, and unfortunately they are now the only washers being made, but without water, clothes just DO NOT ever get clean anymore no matter which fancy and expensive detergent you use. HE washers are HORRIFIC. I may just buy an old style used washer with the agitator... at least I wont be wasting energy to only wind up with STILL dirty clothes when using HE washers! FINAL NOTE: AVOID Maytag HE Washers at ALL COST! You will be sorry if you decide to purchase one!

I researched the issue and found it was common, simply thaw the area where it freezes. Did it multiple times, we do not overfill our freezer etc. We must take the ice out of the bottom every 4-5 days. My hardwood floors are destroyed now. We purchased a Samsung fridge freezer bottom when they first came out years ago, had it for 7 years, 0 issues, but it went with the house. Now my Maytag oven door is locked shut, also it takes a very long time to boil water. Maytag junk. I am going to buy another Samsung fridge tomorrow.

Despite using the correct HE products, clothes dont get as clean as with other washers I owned. Many times the washer becomes unbalanced, gets the UL code and I need to move my clothes around to get it running again. A few months ago, the washer started a new behavior: stopping during the initial fill cycle and displaying an F1 error. I soon figured out if I hit cancel and then start again several times, it would resume filling and proceed with the cycle. Over time, I had to repeat it more and more. I read about other complaints and suggestions on the internet and tried pulling the plug for a few minutes to reset the control panel as well as turning off the breaker to reset the machine.After troubleshooting the problem for 15 minutes or longer, the machine eventually runs. Then I can run subsequent loads with no problem. After a week or longer of doing no laundry, when I try to start the machine, I need to go through the entire process of canceling the wash load and terminating electric power to reset the machine. I have called Maytag/Whirlpool and got unsatisfactory answers. I only wash two to three loads of wash about every ten days and sometimes even less. The 800 number for Maytag was automated and would only schedule a repair without asking about the specific problem or being able to talk with a person. There was no way to cancel the service call scheduled and I had to call another 800 number to finally speak with a Whirlpool representative who tried to help me. She connected me with A&E Factory Service to cancel the service call.Both representatives stated that most likely the control board is the problem and the cost for diagnosis would be $130 plus the cost of parts, which could run from $200 to $400 since Im no longer under warranty. I canceled the service call as the cost of repair would be easily be almost half or more of the cost of purchasing a new (and different) machine. This is the electronics module, something that shouldnt be worn down or broken by use or even user error. This is an integral part of the machine and if it has a fault (which it clearly does), the manufacturer needs to stand behind it and help the consumer. The customer service manager even admitted that models with other model numbers had had similar problems and a free control board was sent to those customers. But my model was not in that range.”I had purchased a Maytag Bravos dryer at the same time as I purchased the washing machine and the dryer had a problem within a week of the warranty expiring. A service repair person came to my home to repair the dryer as it was barely a year old and I did not use it for several months that year (due to other reasons). From the volume of complaints Ive seen online, the Maytag Bravos washing machines should have been recalled and repaired or replaced free of charge.

Due to our previous washer breaking down, we had to purchase a new washer. We have always been loyal to Maytag since we were always pleased and satisfied with the performance. However, this new washer does not deliver in performance, cleanliness, energy savings when cycles take much longer and you end up maybe not using as much water, but our electric bill has gone up considerably. I have nothing good to report about this washer. We purchased it back in April of 2013, and Ive given it the benefit of the doubt by experimenting with all the different wash cycles. I am just not happy with it. I so want to trade it in for a front loader and give Maytag one more chance.
