I have had nothing except trouble with my new Maytag Bravos washer! I first had a suspension arm or something like that replaced along with the agitator. My water cycle has never worked correctly since it was new. I take out the clothes and half are still dry. My daughter washed her kids’ clothes in the washer while she was living with us and the stains did not come out. She thought that is really unusual since they werent stains that normally you would see left on the clothes. I went to my father-in-law’s house (they have a front loading Bosch), took her detergent with her that she used here and guess what? It’s just one washing and the stain was gone. She had washed the clothes in our washer at least 7 times trying to get out the stain. Now, we have such a loud noise that it sounds like it is going to take off. Then, the bottom of the washer started to leak. We took it out and checked it and we cant find the leak. The clothes smell awful when they come out of the wash. I dont know if it is bacteria build up. I use the cycle cleaner when I am supposed to. This is so sad. This is the first time I have had matching washer and dryer and I wish I would have kept my old Sears model that worked great. I havent decided if we want to fix it. With the price to fix it, I can buy one I might like. Never will I buy Maytag again or another Whirlpool without checking out the reports.
This washer is no better than a glorified garbage can. Maytag AKA Whirlpool should be ashamed to put their name on this product. Like others before me on this website my washing machine sounds like a jet is taking off in my basement. When I contacted a serviceman, he told me the drum seal is broken and the bearings are shot. I have the machine since April 11, 2011. Not even three years to date! I do not have an extended warranty so shame on me to believe that a 900.00 machine should last well beyond 3 years. Unfortunately, I am getting the run around from Whirlpool as all of you have experienced. This is criminal. Not only are we as consumers being defrauded by irresponsible manufacturing but these huge hunks of metal and plastic are polluting our environment. Our parents had washing machines and dryers for as long as 20 to 25 years and they actually cleaned clothes. We now have high efficiency machines that destroy our clothing and leave them dirty and wrinkled. They are now made to break in 5 years and from what I see on this website the average for breakdown is becoming 3 years. Do you think that this is not by design? The service call turns out to be more than the value of the machine, so the repairman doesnt even profit as consumers refrain from costly repair and repurchase. The only profitability is gained by the manufacturers that keep pushing out junk to the consumer. These manufacturers should be accountable like the American auto-manufacturers became accountable for the junk they manufactured at the expense of a whole city, Detroit.
After having had Maytag Highlander washer and dryer for 28 years in our early married life, and continuing to think that Maytag was a quality product, we purchased the Neptune front load washer MAH6700AWW. Let me tell you this IS NOT your mothers washer, nor is this Maytag a quality product. First it was necessary to install water pipe shock arrestors because of the water valve on washer causing shock in the waterline when it closed. The automatic Softener/detergent dispenser didnt work from day one.Coins and etc. constantly kept getting under flippers and couldnt be easily removed. I found that it was impossible to remove the plastic flipper without breaking a plastic mounting tab. On my first call to customer the Maytag Customer Loyalty Team, aka Customer Service (CS), I was told that the plastic flippers were not available as a separate part, and that the entire tub assembly with plastic flippers would need to be replaced. WHAT???????? THATS LUDICROUS. After temporarily securing the broken flipper to the tub, I thought Id call again about a week later to see if the previous answer was correct. On this call, the customer service lady (whose name I have), said the flippers are available and that she would send two at no charge. A few days later two flippers arrived, but were not the correct ones. I then decided to drill two holes in the tub and remounted the broken flipper with two stainless screws as a permanent solution. Two pumps needed to be replaced. One was replaced under warranty and one by myself. The one replaced by me was damaged by a coin that made its way from the tub to the pump. Other washer manufacturers provide a means of trapping such objects before they get to the pump. The wash cycle stopped unexpectedly numerous times without reason, after which the code 5d was displayed. I called Maytag Customer service. The representative didnt know what 5d code meant. Her suggestion was to call a service man. Again, I called later to ask and was told 5d meant excessive suds which wasnt the cause. Might this have been a control problem? There were three incidents of water discharging onto the floor from under the washer over the last two months, which caused water to cover an area of approximately 5 by 12 resulting in extensive cleanup in addition to damage to stored items. Since these occurrences were weeks apart and unpredictable, I knew the problem would be difficult, if not impossible, to diagnose, even by a serviceman. I concluded that it was probably a problem with the control; either filling too long or not emptying the tub before refilling for the next cycle. Thats when I decided to send this troublesome Maytag piece of junk to the landfill.
Purchased 4 Maytag kitchen appliances - stove, double oven, fridge, dishwasher - was told that they were all made in the USA. WRONG. The microwave comes from China - not sure why Maytag is not being honest. Not happy with my purchases - even though we spent $4000 to buy American. Warranty service is awful - even extended warranty is a joke. Would never purchase Maytag again.
Maytag fridges, obsolete in less than 3 years. TWICE! My last Maytag fridge dies at about 2.5 years. I called up customer service. It was a compressor not repairable. This was an expensive fridge. Reluctantly we bought another one as the space could only accommodate a Maytag. Again less than 3 years old, the ice maker is shot and the plastic inserts are all falling apart. This time Ill renovate my kitchen for that extra 2 inches to accommodate a different brand.
Bravos MCT maytag commercial technology washer - Bought this washer a year ago. Will not complete cycles. Will not agitate. Never buy Maytag.
Maytag Bravos Quiet series 300 washer - I purchased this washer 14 months ago from LOWES. After having a huge issue with a Kenmore Oasis machine. $$$. Anyway, this machine started a week ago with F1 code and Ld code. This is getting to be a financial strain buying washers every year or two. This is my third in 5 years. Looks like I will need to get another one, again. It makes no sense to repair it at a high cost when the replacement parts are the same as the failed parts. Everyone seems to have the same problem with this washer. Get better electronics guys. The rest of the machine is in fantastic shape. My two cents.
We purchased a Maytag refrigerator, model #mf12269veb on 2/1/12 and for the past few months it has been leaking water out of the bottom freezer unto my floor and ice is forming inside the bottom of the freezer. I have read many complaints about this and if there is any recourse to this problem please let me know. So disappointed with this appliance.
Maytag Top Loading Washer-We bought this machine a little over a year ago and it is one of the worst products weve ever purchased. More often than not clothes barely get wet and then wad up into a twisted mess which stops the machine. Ive had to restart a load over and over. And, the clothes are not as clean as they were from our former Maytag washer which lasted 14 years. The new washer has to be cleaned at least once a month or it smells. We purchased this washer from HHGregg and they are no longer in business or I would complain to them about selling faulty products. I dont know why the manufacturer decided to remove the agitator from new models. What a mistake! We have decided to get rid of this washer and buy another brand. No more Maytag (or Whirlpool) products... ever!
My daughter purchased this washer and matching dryer as a set from Lowes about 4 years ago. It was one of the few with an agitator and that is what she wanted. After using the washer for the first time she was very disappointed to find that the shortest cycle took over an hour and that the locking lid feature couldnt be bypassed. A few weeks ago the washer began gushing water onto the floor which flooded the basement below. She had purchased an extended warranty which was due to expire the following week. She called Lowes and scheduled a repairman. He finally came 2 weeks later and used the Internet to help him diagnose the problem!!! We could have done that. He decided that the control panel was only allowing the agitator to turn in one direction during the wash cycle. So essentially it was spinning a tub full of clothes and water causing lots of water to overflow the tub onto the floor. Needless-to-say he had to order a part and cant return for over 2 weeks to install it. IF this is even the problem! He also said he couldnt disable the locking lid feature! If my daughter had been able to open the lid when the problem started she would have known more about it.We are thankful her machine was under warranty but she will have been without a machine for almost 2 months when and if it is fixed. This is completely unsatisfactory for a gently used 4 year old washer. The dryer takes forever to dry also. If you are buying Maytag based on how long your grandmothers machine lasted, you will be disappointed! This washer caused so much damage we had to file a homeowners insurance claim!
Back in late 2017 we paid over $800 to purchase a front loader Maytag washing machine from Lowes. Before the year long warranty was up, the control board/motherboard stopped functioning. Maytag sent a repairman who tried to blame the problem on us even though he appeared well aware of the problems with Maytag/Whirlpool. After appealing to Lowes, they intervened and Maytag agreed to replace the washer with a higher model. (This process took many phone calls and a great deal of frustration). One year later, shortly after the warranty expired on the second washer, the control board again stopped functioning properly on the second Maytag washer. Since then, I have been rebooting the machine, starting the cycle over again numerous times and doing everything within my power to keep the washer going. The cost of replacing the control board is outrageous. Soon I will replace this machine with an LG with an extended service warranty. No more Maytag or Whirlpool products for me! They are once great American corporations that have fallen apart and are riddled with dishonesty and greed. I guess these corporations only mirror what is going on in this country and government.
I am having the same problem with the sheet of ice forming on the bottom of the freezer and leaking water out every week or so. It is getting very frustrating. After reading all these reviews I am realizing it is a manufacturing flaw and think there should be a recall. We have model MF12269VEQ3.
In April 2010, I replaced my washing machine (still functioning after 12 yrs) to upgrade to what I believed to be the top of the line Maytag Bravo 5.2 HE washing machine. Module # MVWB850WL0 type: 580-02. This machine of 3.5 yrs leaks underneath and after having the service tech come to look he advised me it will cost over $800 to fix (I paid over $900 for this unit). He says its the bearings and went on to ask me if Id been using the HE laundry soap (as if Im an idiot) and went on to ask whether Id been washing bedding. SERIOUSLY?!? !... After much research on this issue, I discover that there are similar complaints all over North America. Very disappointed and I want this lemon replaced by Maytag.
I called customer service to ask if there was some way that Maytag could assist me with repair of this like new dishwasher. When I said it was out of warranty and I had no additional warranty, I was told that a repairman could come out for $110 and diagnose the problem and that parts and labor would be extra. I explained that I had purchased Maytag because I saw commercials, for years, showing that Maytag repairmen had no work. She was very unhelpful and kept droning the same mantra, that a repairman could come out for the above charge. I was very angry and asked for the name and address of the President of Maytag so I could send a letter of complaint. I composed a letter, however: it is Thanksgiving time and I need my dishwasher so I made an appointment to have it repaired. I was told he would be out Mon. between 8 and 5. I asked for a more specific time and was told that I would get a call on Sat. with the time. Thankfully, no call came, because on Sunday, I read the reviews on this site and realized that Maytag was no longer a reliable nor a responsible company and I decided to save myself money and time and stress and just go out and buy a GE. So we will hand wash the dishes on Thanksgiving and buy a GE on Black Friday. This does not mean that I am letting Maytag off the hook. I intend to send my letter to Jeff Fettig at Maytag and also join in the class action suit. How very sad that the name Maytag has become just a name used to shill for defective and shoddy merchandise.
About 9 yrs ago, we remodeled our house. And when it came to appliances, I was vehement we were going to go with Maytag because of their great name and reliability (We have 7 sons and needed reliable appliances). Boy, was I ever wrong?! We have gone through 2 Maytag dishwashers and countless repairs to the Maytag dryer. And our top of the line refrigerator has been a piece of junk!Of course, shortly after the year warranty was up, the flimsy pieces of plastic holding up the shelves started breaking off. The repairman, who came to replace the cooling coil on the refrigerator, said those shelf plugs couldnt be fixed. The whole front of all drawers have come off as well. He mentioned that Maytag was going bankrupt and started compromising on fit and finish. And he said that we just happened to purchase in that time frame. Now, we have a compressor that needs to be replaced for over $500! I have, in my garage, a Gibson freezer from my grandma that is 40 yrs old, and literally the most reliable appliance we have. Never have we made any repairs to it!I called Whirlpool (since they bought Maytag) to tell about my horrible experience with Maytag, and let them know we have to replace these appliances. I asked if there was anything they could/would do (discounts whatever) to redeem their name. I was told that they would not be able to help at all. So, I told them that I would not give Whirlpool anymore of my business and warn anyone I could, not to buy Maytag, Whirlpool or Amana. Isnt there any appliance company out there who cares about customer service, a good name and a reliable product?!
Purchased side-by-side with bottom freezer 2009 after Hurricane Ike. Fridge has stopped cooling. Called Maytag Customer Center and was told nothing can be done only to find theres a 10 year warranty on the compressor. This malfunction should not be an issue after 8 years. My GE fridge still works after 25+ years. Horrible!
I purchased a Maytag built-in microwave and oven combo in 2005 for my newly built home, but I did not move into the house until 2008. So the appliance has only been used for 3 years. The microwave stopped heating after only 3 years of use, which was for microwave popcorn mostly. I also purchased, at the same time, a Maytag cooktop. The knobs had to be replaced, a dishwasher, a rack and utensil holder had to be replaced and a washer dryer that doesnt work properly. I also purchased a side-by-side refrigerator which is okay so far. Im very disappointed in their appliances and they were expensive.
March 7th. My refrigerator ice door started flapping and the lights flickering. The next day it quit working. I called Maytag. They said they would have someone come fix it the next week. The repair service people called me back the same day to tell me that the part I needed has been on back order for 2 months. I called Maytag back. They told me to wait a week they put out an all alert for the part. I called back in a week. Now they tell me its 2 months. This is ridiculous and a huge inconvenience. I will not buy anything again from Maytag. $2,800.00 refrigerator should last a minimum of 20 years. This should be a recall. Thousands of people are having this problem.
I bought my Maytag washer thinking that I was buying a quality product. My washer hardly ever can complete a spin cycle without bumping and knocking and then stopping. I have to babysit this washer because we never know if it will complete a cycle or not. The machine is totally level. We have to adjust almost every load just to wash clothes. Sorry Maytag but this washer is crap and I will never buy anything made by Maytag. What a waste of my money.
Maytag Microwave MMV4205DW-1 - This microwave made it one year and one month before the door would no longer latch shut and the control panel stopped working altogether. Called Maytag and was told not under warranty. It was going to cost more to repair than to purchase a new microwave that was a different brand.
In 2011, I purchased 2 Maytag dishwashers, one for my tenant and one for myself. In 2014, the circuit board on my tenants dishwasher failed, when the unit was only 3 years old and of course out of warranty. I first contacted a local repair person, and he informed me that the repair plus service would be close to $300. When I contacted the company, after about an hour on the phone, they agreed to send their authorized repair service person and after his evaluation, would repair the unit with no charge to me, as a courtesy. This whole process took about 2-3 weeks. I felt that was fair. It is now 2015, and my unit, which I purchased at the same time and the same type, now is not working due to a faulty circuit board. My tenant uses her dishwasher more frequently, and that is most likely why her circuit board went first. This is a design flaw, or perhaps planned obsolescence. At any rate, Im not happy with this, and my model is mdb7809awb2, and serial # is FO4205659. Do you know if there have been any other complaints on this? Thank you for your help.Updated on 07/30/2015: After I wrote my review, I contacted Maytag about the problem. After considerable wait times, I spoke to someone who set up a diagnostic repair call, giving me the impression that Maytag would cover it. When the repair company called, they told me that I would be charged $104.95 just for diagnostics. Labor and parts would be additional. I called Maytag again, and they agreed to let the repair company charge back the diagnostic fee. After diagnosing the problem, it was determined the problem was the control panel and not the circuit board. The cost to repair with tax came to $315.85 and it was only this low because the repair company waived the return service trip. I can get a new dishwasher for a little over $400.00. I am very disappointed in Maytag, because I remember the commercials where the Maytag repair man was bored because the products were so dependable they never broke. My unit is only 4 years old, and its sad that it costs so much to repair it.
Purchased a Maytag fridge April of 2012. Within a few months the freezer was not keeping the food cold enough. I had a lot of food loss. I called Home Depot and they refused to give me a new fridge. They said to call the Mfg. That I did and all they did was send out a service man. This has been fixed 5 times for the same thing. The problem now is that the Extended warranty company refuse to repair it now that they know that it was a pre-existing condition that should have been taken care of under the Mfg. warranty. I paid 180.00 for an extended warranty that now is worthless. I just threw out roughly 200.00 worth of food. Now my lettuce is frozen, eggs are frozen. My husband is disabled and money is not plentiful. I dont know where to turn. Frustrated.
I purchased a Maytag dish washer (not even 2 years old yet). I bought it on 8/29/10 and I paid over $400.00 for it brand new. The model number is MDBH949AWW1 and the serial number is F03422327. I am only asking for the part (motherboard). I have lots of friends and associates at church, work and social that I have talked to about this Maytag. And I would like to give a good report about the company and what they make and that they stand behind their workmanship. I know for a fact that they have 22 motherboards on hand ready to go out and what I have read online is that many people are having the same problem. I need a motherboard. I believe this unit should easily last over 10 years, so I am not asking for much. I will have it installed myself. I just need the part. I trust that you are a reputable company that has been around for many years and Whirlpool has taken new ownership and they have been around for a long time, too! My own parents owned one for over 30 years. This is all that I would request. I’m thanking you in advance.
Maytag Bravo Washer - I recently purchase a fairly expensive washer built by Maytag. In my opinion it is the worst washing machine I have ever owned. Again in my opinion their advertising about being such a reliable company should be considered false advertising, and near criminal. If you had a lower rating I would use it. Absolutely you should never use the word Bravo in a description of this washer. I will never purchase a Maytag appliance again. Check the internet for reviews before you purchase. I had just came out of surgery and in a wheelchair and trying to move back home and didnt do my homework.
TRASH! Bad, Destructive, Dangerous. I am in awe of the worthless, destructiveness of this machine. This washing machine does not add enough water to even cover clothing. It agitates, tangles & tears clothing. You end up with dirty filthy tangled clothing. And this is after waiting for it to make some kind of idiot decision as to whether or not to wash your clothes at all. I frequently go out and it’s made a decision not to start at all. There also is no lint filter, so subsequent loads of laundry are dirtier than the first. You can’t wash clothes without enough water to cover them. I read online that it adds water depending on the weight of the clothing, so wet the clothing first to make it think it’s a heavier load. When you do that it spins the clothes first before it begins to wash them. Your clothes still come out of the machine dirty. If you’re looking for revenge, make someone a gift of this washing machine. Otherwise, put it out with the trash.
I purchased a washer/dryer, Maytag from Home Depot Nashville. It was delivered and set up. 02/24/17 the date of purchase, delivered 03/07/17. I have tried in every way to get the washer to wash properly, but to no avail. The water level doesnt cover the clothes, it takes 10 to 15 minutes for the wash to begin its cycle. It doesnt spin the clothes dry enough to put into the dryer. The washer makes all kinds of sounds thats drives you nuts while setting up to not wash your clothes clean. I have contacted Maytag on several occasion about this problem, they sent out someone to service the washer. Now, why would a brand new washer need servicing. Somethings wrong. It isnt functioning up to standards and they should give me another washer. Now on 05/18/17 the washer was serviced, I have called them again to do something about this piece of **. I was told that the only thing they could do is come service it again. Why, must this brand new washer be serviced every week. It doesnt make sense... I dont want this machine, I want my money back so I can purchase a machine that will wash my clothes properly. I purchased a secondhand washer and dryer from a used appliance store, it lasted my family 10 complete year. The only reason I dont have it now is because I wanted to upgrade, since I have never had a brand new set. What a disappointment. Everything that looks good from Maytag isnt good. I dont understand why they wont stand behind their product.Somethings got to be done about this. Maytag will not take my money 1,200 and force me to keep this malfunctioning piece of nothing. Im going to Youtube this product so the consumer can see how this product doesnt work properly, therefore they wont waste their hard earned money. I will be contacting the BBB Nashville, and wherever I need to. I will let the consumer know the make and model of this product and where it was purchased from. Maytag I want every penny back. And, should hold you responsible for ever time I have had to go to the wash house because my brand new set wont work, and your company wants to service it every time I try to wash. I purchased this appliance on the strength of the well known name, that was the wrong thing to do.
Purchased in 2013, they have replaced the control panel twice in 2014 and AGAIN 2015, now WAITING for the replacement control panel AGAIN. Maytag claims there are no recalls on this dishwasher model number. But after reading all these reviews why is there not a recall. Maytag is of no help when you call. They claim as long as they keep replacing the control panel it still can be repaired. This can be extremely costly WHEN THE CONTROL CONSOLE PANEL keeps breaking. Obviously there is a major problem with this part and why is Maytag not recognizing this issue.
Add me to the long list of disgruntled buyers of a Maytag Dishwasher. Just like the other 488 people that similarly filed an unsatisfactory rating on this site I too am now on that list. And no surprise - the control panel ceased to function 13 months after I purchased the unit and one month after the manufacturers warranty expired. After brief inspection the problem was obviously a design error leading to premature wear of the electric ribbon in the handle. Phoned Maytag and they advised me it was the first theyd heard of this problem with the model. Only subsequently did I search to discover that the problem was so common it might be characterised as routine. Replace part was 8 weeks and Cdn $153, about 2x the US price. However they wouldnt ship it to me from the US. The repair isnt too difficult: 11 screws and a little patience if youre so inclined. Before installing take a few minutes to trim the plastic where the electronic ribbon strip passes from through the handle without clearance. Save yourself the same repair in another 13 months. Lesson learned - no more Maytag/Whirlpool dishwashers for us.
I have owned my Maytag Neptune Washer since 1998 and this is the first time that it will not drain all the water... Doing some research before I call a repairman... Have a Great day!
I have had it since 2011 and still works as good as it did back then. I love it. Hope it helps people decide when they go shopping for a dryer. I have a dog so I have to keep her clean so I wash a lot of her bedding and she sheds a lot. She also sleeps on the with me so that other bedding that I put for her on my bed between her clothes and mine which I do separate. The dryer works a lot and it is still going strong.
Purchase brand new range a couple of months ago. Self-clean oven does NOT self-clean and leaves weird, flakes of something that stick to oven floor. Burners are inconsistent and difficult to control heat level. Take forever to get warm, and then either boil over or wont get warm enough. Purchased this with inheritance from my mother - how sad! Always had such faith in Maytag.
Maytag gas range 5 burners. Maytag is quality. Period. I doubt that other brands are made as well. From the handle of the oven door to the ease of cleaning the burners, you wont find better for the price. I look for quality and reliability. I read reviews. A deal breaker on any major purchased would be too many bad reviews and shoddy materials or construction. This range has 3 regular burners, one large burner and one small burner. The oven shelves easily adjust from one level to another. The controls are easy to reach and the timer and bake controls are easy to operate.
I have a 50/50 chance of completing a wash cycle. Most times, the washer stops working at 8 minutes remaining in ANY cycle. The washer will leave me with wet clothing and refuses to spin even when most wet, dripping articles are removed. I have tried to put all light-weight items together and that still is not a guarantee that I can get this done in one cycle. Most often, the error code comes up, I spin the drum around, move the clothing around and try again. This process is NOT energy efficient which is why I bought the ** thing in the first place. I am ready to put it on the curb for the trash man to pick up.We had a service person out and he said it is either the bearings or the motor (both a $400 job). I will NEVER buy another front-loading washing machine. At least with the old-fashioned top loaders you can get the load balanced and at least get clothing to go through the spin cycle. I am now hand-wringing clothing once again since the machine tells me when it will spin my clothing. That stupid chime is about to send me out of my mind!
We bought this Maytag washer 3 mo. ago and now need work done on it. We were told that they could not find anyone willing to come work in this area. We live in the Mississippi Delta, 30 miles so. of Greenville, 50 miles no. of Vicksburg or 90 miles from Jackson. So I guess the Maytag repairman is not just lonely anymore, he doesnt exist.
My dishwasher is 3-4 years old and the control panel is malfunctioning. Cant push a button to choose what cycle I want, it doesnt respond. I went to the Maytag website to see if there have been others with this problem. It appears that there are many other people having this problem. Parts are not available and it seems that Maytag wont do a recall on this product due to the control panel malfunctioning. I have been dealing with this problem for the past few months. I dont think Maytag is worth the money. They want if you only get a few years out of them.
Bravos XL was costly. Mistake! I owned my first Maytag for 20 plus years. The sticker shock of buying a new Maytag 4 years ago was pushed aside knowing how long my previous model lasted. The salesperson at Lowes closed the deal with his explanation of an improved gear driven system vs the old belt and pulley version. Oh how wrong! I too have the jet plane from hell landing in my home for over 2 years now everytime the spin cycle engages. This is a two person family and it failed at 2 years?!?!?As for water conservation... if I dont include the additional rinse cycle, my clothes dont get clean. Watched the YouTube on how to repair this unit... but what guarantee do I have that it wont go back to the same problem in another year? Cant afford another big investment like this now that I am retired, so I will run this baby until it seizes up. Dont wash clothes if company is coming or if you want to enjoy evening TV programs. Not sure why this unit hasnt been recalled based on all the complaints I have read on this site?? Worst decision I ever made! I bet the Maytag Repairman is spinning in his grave!
I bought my Maytag Bravos washer and dryer set about 4 years ago when I moved into my home. The performance of the washer has always seemed mediocre. Despite using the correct HE products, clothes dont get as clean as with other washers I owned. Many times the washer becomes unbalanced, gets the UL code and I need to move my clothes around to get it running again. A few months ago, the washer started a new behavior: stopping during the initial fill cycle and displaying an F1 error. I soon figured out if I hit cancel and then start again several times, it would resume filling and proceed with the cycle. Over time, I had to repeat it more and more. I read about other complaints and suggestions on the internet and tried pulling the plug for a few minutes to reset the control panel as well as turning off the breaker to reset the machine. After troubleshooting the problem for 15 minutes or longer, the machine eventually runs. Then I can run subsequent loads with no problem. After a week or longer of doing no laundry, when I try to start the machine, I need to go through the entire process of canceling the wash load and terminating electric power to reset the machine. I have called Maytag/Whirlpool and got unsatisfactory answers. I only wash two to three loads of wash about every ten days and sometimes even less. The 800 number for Maytag was automated and would only schedule a repair without asking about the specific problem or being able to talk with a person. There was no way to cancel the service call scheduled and I had to call another 800 number to finally speak with a Whirlpool representative who tried to help me. She connected me with A&E Factory Service to cancel the service call. Both representatives stated that most likely the control board is the problem and the cost for diagnosis would be $130 plus the cost of parts, which could run from $200 to $400 since Im no longer under warranty. I canceled the service call as the cost of repair would be easily be almost half or more of the cost of purchasing a new (and different) machine. This is the electronics module, something that shouldnt be worn down or broken by use or even user error. This is an integral part of the machine and if it has a fault (which it clearly does), the manufacturer needs to stand behind it and help the consumer. The customer service manager even admitted that models with other model numbers had had similar problems and a free control board was sent to those customers. But my model was not in that range.”I had purchased a Maytag Bravos dryer at the same time as I purchased the washing machine and the dryer had a problem within a week of the warranty expiring. A service repair person came to my home to repair the dryer as it was barely a year old and I did not use it for several months that year (due to other reasons). From the volume of complaints Ive seen online, the Maytag Bravos washing machines should have been recalled and repaired or replaced free of charge.
I purchased this washer because it has a large, stainless steel drum, and a deep wash setting. My laundry comes out very clean, and I do not need to run it through an extra rinse cycle. The sensor determines what size load I put in, so I am not wasting water on small loads. Overall, I am very happy with my washer. I purchased it about six months ago.
We purchased a new Maytag washer and dryer from Home Depot; a couple months later the dryer started to rattle so we contacted Maytag and they sent a service tech out who stated this was normal as the dryer was settling and parts are not as tight as they are when new. This was a garbage response and he was asked to leave. I contact Maytag again, told them of the problem and the tech response and they offered to send another tech out except I would have to pay for the service call since they already sent someone out. I sent them an audio file of the rattle, no reply. Eventually Home Depot ended up replacing the dryer as Maytag refused to help me despite it being in the warranty period.
I purchased a Maytag Neptune 24” front load washer (MAH2400a) and 24” electric dryer (MDE2400AYW) on October 26, 2005 from Sears in Chesterfield, MO. In April 2011, the drum in the washer began to slush and grind. Water also began pooling around the machine. I called Sears and arranged for service repairman. Before he even looked inside the washer, the repairman wanted to give me a coupon for $50.00 off a new washing machine from Sears. After my insistence, he finally opened the washer and told me I needed a new drum. Because of the Sears repairman’s reluctance to look at the machine, I had another appliance repairman review it and was told that the water pumps for this model were defective. Any loose items the size of coins collected inside the pump and damaged it. I paid $340.00 to get the pump replaced. Ten months later, the dryer started smoking. After scheduling a service call, I was told the heating element burnt out and it would cost $360.00 to replace. It was then I noticed that the washer was leaking again. I took the front base cover off and saw mold growing under the machine. A little research uncovered that this set of machines has had many dangerous problems, from mold to catching on fire. There was a class action lawsuit filed and won by consumers in April 2005, yet I was sold this model in October 2005. I feel both Maytag and Sears knowingly sold me a defective and dangerous product. I would like to be refunded for this set.
I purchased by Maytag Bravo from Lowes exactly 1 year ago when the gearbox failed. There was a loud grinding sound as the washer tried to shift from wash to spin. Reading through some on-line reviews and complaints it turns out that this is not a new problem and has been known to Maytag for some time. I specifically bought a Maytag because of their prior reputation for quality. Unfortunately, my information was out of date. It is so sad that a company would compromise such an outstanding reputation.
I have gone several years with wasted food at random times because my Maytag refrigerator decides to stop cooling whenever it feels like it. This is a continuing thing that started since the appliance was brand new and it has never been resolved. Maytag claims that they cant do anything about my refrigerator. They can do what they want to. From my experience, I feel like the issue is that they dont care to make it right. I am finally fed up with this refrigerator and I am buying a new one. I can guarantee that it will not be a Maytag.
My Maytag refrigerator is less than 5 years old; the compressor went out (only warrantied for 1 year, 5 years used to be the minimum). I contacted the company who now owns Maytag, I believe Whirlpool. They told me they can fix it, no matter what the problem is, for $380.00. It turns out they sold me an extended warranty, but that was never explained in the conversation. Prior to contacting them, I had Sears out to fix it; they are the ones that told me it was the compressor. 1 week after buying the extended warranty, the repair company came out to fix it and found out the refrigerator was unplugged and informed me it needed to be plugged in for 24 hours in order for him to determine what was wrong with it. I scheduled an appointment 1 week later. When they came back, they said it was the compressor, and they needed to order the parts. 1 week later, they came back, and the compressor they came with did not work. 3 weeks now, no refrigerator. They said they would put a rush on the order, haha. Now, I have to wait another 8 days for them to come out to repair. 4 weeks without a refrigerator? I think there is some type of implied warranty when you purchase large appliances; these companies are getting away with murder. Are refrigerators now disposable commodities? Cheaper to buy new ones than repair the new ones? What will happen to our landfills?
Frigidaire makes a good fridge. It works good. It has an alarm when you leave as door open. Great appliance. If I could afford it Id get another one when this old model I have gives up on me.
We bought a Maytag Dishwasher - Model #MDB4949SHW a year and a half ago at a Home Depot Location. We had previously had a Whirlpool dishwasher for 13 years of heavy use, with no issues or difficulties. At the time we purchased our dishwasher, there were various different brands on sale, including the one we purchased. The sales rep at Home Depot advised us that although we could get a similar dishwasher for the same price, that this particular model had a 10 year warranty. When I heard that, all I heard was 10 worry free years. MY MISTAKE. I could never have imagined that a company such as Whirlpool would advertise a warranty, that in the end is made up of nothing but false advertising. We ran a cycle during the Christmas holidays, and detected a funny smell of burnt rubber but didnt know what to make of it. I googled the issue and some people had had experiences with perhaps a plastic utensil or some other plastic, being burned by the heating element, so I figured that its what might have happened. I ran another cycle the next day, and the smell was much less prominent so I thought the problem had gone away. The next time we ran a cycle, the water didnt drain. We called in a repair person, and was shocked to learn that both the drain pump and main control board needed replacing. We got in touch with Whirlpool and low and behold, the only items they cover are nonsense items such as the racks, drum, tub...etc....in other words, the parts that are actually responsible for the running of the machine, are not covered, neither is LABOUR. Therefore, in my opinion, their warranty is trash and should not be relied upon under any circumstances. We purchased a new dishwasher just a year and a half ago, and are left with a heap of junk in our kitchen. Our options? Either spend $600.00 to $700.00 on repairs, possibly more, or buy a new dishwasher. When I asked if there was anything they could do to at least mitigate my damages, I was told....Sorry for your inconvenience...but do you have any other questions. I dont have any other questions...but I do have have a comment.... Make your products better....and dont print warranties that are utterly rubbish, false, and only serve to mislead the consumer. Needless to say, we will not be buying any more appliances from this company. Their one and only goal is profit for their shareholders with no regard whatsoever for the consumer. If I could give it ZERO stars, I most certainly would. :)
I bought a new refrigerator and when I plugged it in would not cool. I called and the authorized tech came and said the compressor was bad and the evaporator was rusted and hoses were greased up. I have now been informed that the warranty was void because it was put in a dental office and not a single home. I said since it was never used I would put it in a house. They said it was void and I was out of luck. I always thought maytag sold good products but this has convinced me to never buy a product from them again. It never worked and the tech said it should be replaced but they said he should never had told us this.
My husband and I bought a Bravo XL washer in the fall of 2015. I certainly wish we had read the reviews on this site of this product. We would have saved ourselves a lot of money and grief. This machine does not clean clothes and actually damages them during the spin cycle as reported by others. This low water no agitator technology does not work on a top loader. Stuff doesnt come clean! Im not sure what we are going to do but we learned a valuable lesson the hard way. We purchased this machine in September of 2015 and are unhappy with it!
Like many others, my Maytag Bravo motherboard has stopped working after about 2 years. The clothes do not get particularly clean, it is extremely noisy, and the wash cycles are excessively long. I would not recommend this appliance to anyone.
Let me make it simple for you, DO NOT PURCHASE A MAYTAG/WHIRLPOOL product. Maytag/Whirlpool believes its products should work for 1 year and then become obsolete, at least this is what the Maytag/Whirlpool customer service line told me. I purchased a MVWB950YW (Bravos XL) top loader on September 4th, 2012 for $948.00 plus $99.00 for an extended warranty. The washer worked marginally well when it was brand new. June 2014, the washer in spin mode started to sound like a freight train was about to run through my house. When I called for service the service company immediately signaled it was a bad bearing and offered me $500 to put towards a new or refurbished Maytag!!! They claimed if they were to repair the machine it would VOID the extended service contract?? I wanted the washer fixed, I did not want to spend more money to buy a new machine. I continued to use the machine as is, with the incredibly loud noise. June 2015, the same machine starts to leak water and is even louder. Again the company in charge of the service contract offers money for me to put towards a new or refurbished machine. Net is, Maytag/Whirlpool engineers its products based on its warranty - 1 year. Anything after that they view as an opportunity to steal more money from you and I the consumer. Do yourself a favor and NEVER purchase a Maytag/Whirlpool product. I would like to think American products are superior to its foreign counterparts, however Maytag/Whirlpool is not in this league. In my opinion, Maytag/Whirlpool has lost the privilege to call itself American and should no longer be allowed to do business in this country.
This Maytag dishwasher was purchased because Maytag has always been represented as a reliable brand. Wish I had done some research on this problem before repairing it! The control panel went bad after 18 months (and at least 6 months of this time it was not used at all!). The repair cost $300, the dishwasher only cost $429, and if I had realized how much this would cost I would have bought another dishwasher instead. Wonder how long this control panel will last? I called Maytag to complain and was told by Dana badge no. ** that there was nothing to be done as it was out of warranty. We have had dishwashers for 10+ years before that never gave us any trouble. I told her I wanted to speak to her supervisor and she told me she didnt have one! Really, how about if George Moore the CFO or Arthur Learmonth the President call me back on this one! We shall see what they say, but I can see by all the complaints about the same issue with Maytag dishwashers that we will probably be out of luck unless we start or join a class action lawsuit (looks like there is one in California already). I will amend this post if Maytag decides to stand by their product and at least pay for the cost of the control panel, but Im not holding my breath.
I purchased a Maytag refrigerator on April 4, 2012. This week, July 12, 2015, my compressor went out. I called repairman and he said the compressor was shot. I thought this refrigerator would last longer than 3 years. I had to go purchase a new refrigerator from Home Depot in Knoxville, TN at a cost of $1,057.95. I am 80 yrs. old, on Social Security and this was a lot for me to put out, since the Maytag should have lasted a lot longer than 3 yrs. I feel I am entitled to some reimbursement. The Maytag is a side by side, Model MSF25C2EXB00, Ser. HR21112159. Im disappointed in Maytag and will never recommend or buy another one.
I have had this dishwasher less than 2 years, Maytag model # MDB7749SBM2. The control panel started acting up, it would not let me select a wash cycle, it would select its own and I could not change it. After reading these reviews, I took off the control panel and discovered the wires which are encased in a plastic were all darkened and messed up. I will try to replace it on my own but if I have to I will buy another brand as this dishwasher hasnt really cleaned my dishes all that well to begin with.
We purchased our Maytag dishwasher on 12-26-2013. It was installed in early Jan. We did not buy an additional warranty. We put our faith in the Maytag name. We had no problems with our dishwasher. It was smooth and quiet. The one year warranty ended in Jan. 2015. In March of 2015, our dishwasher control panel began to go crazy. A short while later our Maytag shut down completely. Every now and then the washer will come on by itself. We will try and cut it off. It cuts off when it is ready. We have got quotes on getting it fixed by Maytag. With installation and tax, our Maytag Dishwasher cost us $649.22. Our complaint is the same complaint of thousands of other customers - the control panel. Maytag should have a recall and fix this problem. Maytags remedy for this problem is to sell a warranty for each year that a family owns the dishwasher. That is not acceptable. Please consider a recall on this item. Our model is MDB7749SBW2. Our serial #F33406909. Thanks for your help.
I purchased one of the first Impeller washer and dryer. The dryer is great, but the washer needed repair immediately. Home Depot refused to exchange the pair, so I will never buy from them again. The washer takes over an hour to complete the wash cycle, has to be set on Bulk in order to get enough water for a decent wash, and is extremely rough on clothing. Its made holes in some of my shirts and everything comes out twisted without enough rinsing. Sleeves are always turned inside out. Thats how rough it is. It costs me more in water and electricity. Neither Home Depot nor Maytag would replace the pair for me.
This dishwasher is at 10 years old, but is a real workhorse. This machine cleans like no other! Never worry about our dishes being clean. But we have replaced the seal once.
This Maytag (Whirlpool) model MDB7749SBMI dishwasher was purchased 10/28/13 at Home Depot. That makes it 2 1/2 years old to date. It has been a good dishwasher up until now. A few weeks ago I noticed it was doing something wonky. First of all it was not responding its usual way when I tried to turn it on after closing the door. The start button was not responding immediately, nor were some of the other buttons. I also noticed that after the dry cycle had completed and the door was then opened to unload, that the lights on the door were flashing. Then, when I shut the door after unloading the dishes, the washer would come on without having any buttons pushed. Recently, in addition to the difficulty we are experiencing getting it to start, the washer will keep running without ever turning off. Last night I turned it on before going to bed, and it was still running this morning. Calling the service number, the control panel part will run around $150, with a $98 charge for repairman to come out. Who knows if that 98$ isnt just to walk in the door, and whether that includes the time it takes to install the part. The dishwasher was around $400 with my husbands military discount from Home Depot, so it seems crazy to spend that kind of money to have a part replaced that is going to break again because of PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE. If that part is replaced (at half the cost of the dishwasher) whos to say what other part is going to break next, perhaps requiring another service call plus price of part. So, conclusion is to throw this one in the landfill and purchase another dishwasher, sadly. The case of Planned Obsolescence is reflected in many of the comments/reports here on Consumer Affairs. The age of the failing control panels of the Maytag/Whirlpool washers are running around the same time spans. No doubt in my mind that these control panels are designed to fail after a specific amount of run cycles/time on this machine. These appliance companies that are manufacturing these total crap appliances so that people will have to buy replacements within 3 or 4 years are filling our already packed landfills while robbing the consumer. Its plain to see for all who care to investigate the matter. A service repairman whom Ive used for years and has been in the business for 25, told me that most appliances today are total pieces of junk compared what they used to be and are designed to fail. He said it has greatly impacted his business because people are replacing appliances versus repairing them because it is not cost effective to have them repaired. He also added that the guts of these appliances looked like they were made from Cracker Jack toy quality plastic materials. There should be laws to stop these manufactures from Planned Obsolescence, and we need to go back to the way appliances use to be made... to last! I have no idea what its going to take to ever see that happen. This is what happens when you have very little competition and 2 major appliance manufacturers. More parts are being designed to fail, so that they can line their pockets. Pitiful.
Just passed warranty period and Maytag dishwasher broke. It would not start. Called and was allowed to purchase extended warranty for $135.00. A new panel was shipped and dishwasher lasted just under one more year with same issue. Another extended warranty was offered for $199.00. Needless to say we are buying a new dishwasher and not a Maytag or Whirlpool. The panels are notorious for rusting out. Hmmm moisture of a dishwasher and parts easily corrode.
I have had a Maytag smoothtop stove for over 20 years. The only drawback has been when someone left an empty pan on a hot burner. Some of the pan melted to the top which could not be removed. I have to get special pans to conduct the heat, too. Overall, I love it. It has a self-cleaning oven, too, which is a bonus.
My clothes come out extremely wrinkled and start piling after a couple of washes. I wash on cold and do not overload the machine. I am 64 years old and had always loved Maytag until I got this set 4 years ago.
This dishwashers start button stopped working after 1 1/2 years. We did not buy the Extended service warranty. So we are responsible for the service call and the replacement of the control panel. Ridiculous. I called Maytag to file a complaint and they never returned my call. I will NEVER buy Maytag again. There are enough problems posted to know better. This company should be ashamed!!!
I bought this range (Gemini Double gas range) in 2010 but was not installed in my house until 2011 due to time delays in kitchen re-model. I paid $1310.00. It was serviced 3 times once under warranty. About a year ago the igniter went in one of the ovens for the second time and one of the stove burners wouldnt light. Since the other oven and 3 other burners worked we didnt call for repair, then a second burner stopped working and we called our Maytag dealer. 2 different service techs came one with more experience and both said the same thing the stove wasnt worth fixing due to cost of parts. One of the problems was the screws in the burners couldnt be removed due to rust and deterioration of the screws. They would break and cost other components also to be needed. So after 7 years of use and already having repairs done I have to buy a new stove. It will not be a Maytag. I also bought a top of the line Maytag dishwasher and one month past the 5 year warranty the electronic panel burned out. After calling Maytag and complaining they did agree to pay for the part close to $300 but I still paid for labor. When I looked at reviews for the oven before purchasing they werent too good but wanted a double oven at the time and always had good luck with Maytag in the past. I thought buying a higher priced model would be better quality. Not so. After calling Maytag today the best they could offer was to buy an extended warranty for $380, I declined. My advice - Listen to the reviews. The Maytag repairman isnt sitting around idly anymore!
I bought Maytag Bravos X in 2014. I bought a set. The dryer is fine. Right after the warranty was up the washer started having problems. Maytag was no help. One sensor after another went bad. Now I have to unplug it to get it to start and then again to get it to spin. It hasnt spun on its own since 2015. It just recently wont start on its own. I have appliance repair people out and they cant fix it. They say everyone has problems with them. My mother swore by Maytags and had a set for twenty years or so, but now they are garbage.
The $1,100 Maytag Bravo XL does not have a dedicated spin cycle. Its rinse and spin. When out of balance, you rearrange and it rinses AGAIN - 15 minutes - before you know whether its balanced. By rinsing again, it can redistribute to be out of balance. Repairmen (w/ extra warranty) said you cant wash bath mats, bedspreads or pillows though it had giant capacity! They would charge me if I called again about it (3 strikes). So bought a used Kenmore with no computer panel... Its great! My dealer had the Maytag hauled to a dump, he would not sell it to anybody as he had integrity.
Have been very disappointed. The burners keep going out. The repairman said a bug could crawl on the element and break it. Then the temperature on burner on it works from med to high and any lower no heat. The dual burner is now backwards. The oven handle keeps falling off. Worst range I ever had and I thought it was a step up to Maytag.
I purchased Maytag microwave model MMV4205AAQ in 2005. I use it infrequently. It stopped heating in Nov. 2011. It must be replaced. But after this experience and reading other comments, I will not purchase any Maytag appliances in the future.
Purchased what was supposed to be a good dishwasher. In less than 3 years the control panel went out. It would cost more to replace the panel than to buy a new dishwasher. I will never buy another Maytag product.
We purchased a Maytag Jetclean Plus Dishwasher in June 2013. It worked well enough initially. We bought it because it had a large capacity and built in disposal. By August 2014, just after the warranty expired, the front panel gave out. To have someone even look at it cost $150. By following instructions from internet discussion groups by other people facing similar issues, we were able to get it to run in random mode. Programs were no longer indicated or selectable but dishes generally still got cleaned. Two months later a wheel fell off the premium rack glides. Finally after about 2 years of use, the dishwasher finally gave up altogether. At this point the stainless steel tub is no longer stainless. The entire device has worn poorly and looks shoddily made. This is the worst use of $900 I have ever made, and what tweaks me the most is Maytags attitude and their ludicrous warranty that barely lasts out the weakest link in the device.
Faulty Maytag MDB8969 Dishwasher - BEWARE! Whirlpool, Jenn-Air, Amana, Maytag, KitchenAid... Are all brands that fall under Whirlpool. According to Better Business Bureau statistics there is less than 1 chance in 10 that you will get the Whirlpool product you are expecting! We purchased a new Maytag dishwasher at the end of 2016. Within a couple of weeks the dishwasher began failing: discharge pumps, heating elements, soap dispensers, door leaks, faulty racks, rinsing problems... Since purchasing the machine we have had to make 7 different service calls, all under warranty. The warranty service providers have been good but the machine has been a catastrophe, having been out of commission for several of the 18 months since being installed, and causing serious water damage to our kitchen floor (based on several other negative reviews this leaking is not an uncommon occurrence).A few months into owning the machine, after our 3rd service call, we contacted Whirlpool, Customer Service and asked for the machine to be replaced. They refused to replace the machine but extended our warranty free of charge- better than nothing but not a cure to the problem and the only remedial action that Whirlpool was willing to offer. We didnt understand at that point that the problem of faulty and defective Whirlpool products was probably so huge that Whirlpool could not afford to provide a reasonable solution to their customers; leaving many, as witnessed on various product review sites, to bear the extreme frustration and associated expenses borne from the incurred failures. Unfortunately, here we are once again, requesting our 7th service call in less than 18 months, and asking once again for a replacement. The Whirlpool response this time (CSR was not allowed to let us speak to her Supervisor in spite of trying to negotiate that for several minutes) was that they would not replace the defective machine but would sell us a new $850 machine for $250 and would dispose of the faulty machine for an additional $25. Whirlpool would not however pay for the uninstall of the faulty unit nor the install of the new unit (about $350) which would have to come out of our pocket. We won’t be spending the additional $600 to fix this problem as proposed by Whirlpool; we won’t be installing another Maytag product in our home. We were advised that we could fill out a form if we wanted, to try and claim for the damages which the dishwasher caused to our kitchen floor. The form was never emailed as agreed and now we are just really tired of the whole experience so will simply put this all behind us.Our Whirlpool experience has been extremely stressful and quite expensive. It is clear to us that if an appliance which is averaging a serious failure every 3 months since the first day of installation, does not in the opinion of Whirlpool warrant a full and prompt replacement, or even the direct telephone attention of a Customer Service Supervisor, that the Whirlpool quality standard must be so low, the failure frequencies so high, that the number of similar failures prohibits any commercial viability to manage the problems in a reputable manner. Whirlpool clearly has some very large problems. It would not have been easy to destroy the once highly respected Maytag name. Such degradation could only take place as a result of continuous and ongoing Whirlpool quality degradation. We will no longer be their ‘crash test dummies’ but I do hope for the sake of Whirlpool (apparently North American made) that they take ownership of their poor quality condition, realign and spend the next few years becoming the company that we all once knew and respected.
We purchased the washing machine (MVWB400VQO) on July 9, 2009. Now we must buy a new washing machine as this one is apparently beyond repair, or else the repair costs will far exceed what it would cost to purchase a new machine. We are completely disgusted with its failure, as we paid $822.36, with the delivery fee and the tax. We expected that this machine would last for years, but here we are, 42 months later, having to again invest in a washer. Now that we have a computer and are able to browse your performance reports, we wish we had been able to read them before, in which case we never ever would have bought it at all.Yesterday it spewed water all over our basement, flooding things that should not get wet, providing an atmosphere for encouragement of mold and rust. The motor is gone as the housing is cracked, which was caused by debris getting into it, something that we could not have known or prevented. This is very poor design by your company, in our opinion. We called some repairmen, all useless as apparently the whole machine would have had to be completely dismantled at a rate of $84.00 per hour, and he could not tell us how many hours that would take, to say nothing of finding a new motor for the thing. We will never again buy a Maytag product as they are expensive with a too-short shelf life and there’s nobody who cares when you need help for something that should not have happened at all. I understand Maytag is really not the good old dependable Maytag we used to know and love at all, but rather is now owned by the Whirlpool Corporation, whose products we will never purchase either.I know why that lovable old Maytag repairman we used to see on TV is retired. Its because he could no longer stand the quality (or lack thereof) of the appliances that you are now producing. He is probably home, hiding his head somewhere and hoping nobody will recognize him. And what, kind sirs, do you have to say about this? Thank you in advance for your prompt reply.
We have already replaced the motherboard and now it is throwing a code of and it takes a whole day to keep pressing start to get one load down. I hate these machines and tell everyone NOT to buy one. They are expensive to buy and too much trouble to fix or repair and too much money to fix. BUYER BEWARE!!!!
I purchased a Maytag Bravos line washer model # mvwx500xwo back in Oct. of 2010 thinking that it would be great to save money on the water bill. I first had issues with it putting holes in my clothes. I then found out if you do not zip up all zippers and button all buttons, the machine will rip them up due to the high speed spin cycles. Now, the washer will not fill with water or start the wash cycle. I mean really, its less than two years old and I have to shell two hundred plus dollars to fix a washer that only cost $500. I guess I know what brand not to shop for next.
We have the 4000 series front loader washer. Within 8 months of owning it, it would shut off in mid cycle. You have to unplug it to restart it. Then, when it completes the cycle, it is still soaking wet. So, you have to put it through the drain and spin cycle again. There is something major wrong with the spin cycle. It takes about 2 hours to do one load of laundry and you have to stay home to do all of the steps. It costs as much to fix it as the machine costs. It’s the worst washer we have ever had. No more Maytags!
Not only did I buy a Maytag washer for the brand name and trusted longevity, but because they were always a good product in the past. When my Maytag EZ-Epic washer drum failed after only owning it for two years, there was no effort made by any associate to cover this under any sort of warranty at all. To replace this part, I was quoted so much money that I could go out and buy a brand new one for the cost of the repair for this faulty part. I am extremely dissatisfied with the way I was treated because the so called product was out of warranty and I will never buy a Maytag product again. Shame on Maytag for ever selling off to such a fraudster of a company.
I installed a new Maytag Wall Oven Microwave Combo 18 months ago. I had not used the microwave in over a week. Last night, we heard a loud pop and realized the beauty glass front on the microwave had shattered. No one had closed the door too hard, in fact, we had not used it. I see where others have had this problem.
We have had a Maytag Bravos washer for a while, which has a see-through top load lid and a very small or low agitator. I have to say that I really miss the old fashioned agitator which makes all the clothes being dragged underwater and scrubbed well. We have watched the loads being washed in this washer many times and the clothes are not being swished around very effectively. You feel like you need to help it getting the clothes washed as it seem like it just sit in the same place throughout the cycle. The clothes ends up in big knots around the edges, and you can see the same towel sitting on the top during the 2-minute rinse cycle, never getting completely under water. During the wash cycle, the lid gets locked, so you are not able to open it up to untangle or move towels around if it has gotten unevenly distributed. The wash cycle is very quick, so all in all, Im not sure how clean the laundry really is when its done. We will never buy this kind of washer again.
My microwave started acting up, after about 5 months. It would not cook a complete cycle, without an error saying that the door is open, and needs to be closed. The repairman has been out 5 times already, and the problem is still not corrected. Maytag/Whirlpool has said they will not replace item, then they decided they would possibly replace at a pro-rated amount. So, I have to purchase a microwave twice, to have one that works? Somehow, I feel Im being taken for a ride in this deal.
Bought a Maytag refrigerator from Home Depot about 2 years ago. Like everyone else we are having leaking problems from the freezer drawers. I wonder if anyone has had it repaired and whether it was repaired
We bought this from our local big box retailer paying $433.87 after installation, the oven, haul away and home delivery. Two years and 3 months later its a boat anchor. Display is cold and dark after stating we needed to open and close the door before it would heat. We did but it kept displaying the same message. Unplugged it, turned circuit off per Maytag customer service line, still nothing. It is no longer made and you cant get parts. It is useless. The 10 year warranty just covers the magnet and the cavity.
Do NOT purchase a Maytag dishwasher. What happened to the Maytag repairman being so lonely. Now he has lots of company in the way of angry consumers. Purchased a Maytag dishwasher and less than a year later the control panel failed. It was still under warranty but the service person just tweaked it instead of replacing it. Now, less than a year later it has failed and will cost over $200 to replace and repair. This is disgusting.
We bought our Maytag Bravos washer and dryer 3 years ago. We bought the set from E-Z RENTALS in Crossville, TN. We paid on the set for 2 years. You can only imagine how much we paid. Two weeks after the payoff, the washing machine started acting up. We were led to believe that the set had a 10-year warranty on them. They made sure that we saw the 8-10 sticker on the front of the machine. E-Z Rentals said that we had to pay extra for the warranty. They hung us out to dry. I could have bought a nice car for what we paid for this washing machine. Now its torn up again. This will make the 3rd time that we have had to call a repairman. We are ready to take the washing machine to the dump and buy a Whirlpool. The man at E-Z Rentals said that on average, the Bravos machine lasts for 3 to 4 years. After that, its cheaper to buy a new one. Does anyone know if, in fact, these machines come with any type of warranty? We truly do not have a clue. We would be grateful for any information on the washing machine. This has been a hurtful experience. I feel that we were taken advantage of.
Maytag is no longer a brand well designed for longevity. Dishwasher, 3 years old. Wash sequence lights start acting up and cannot select the normal sequence. Called to schedule a service call. Maytag service person unaware of any issue. Was informed a service call will cost $99 minimum and provide 15 minutes of diagnostics, $29 for each subsequent 15 minutes. $299.00 max. (All CND $). Those rates added to new parts and it would not be cost effective to repair a $600 washer. If this washer gets replaced, it will not be with a Maytag.
My grandmother got a Maytag Bravos XL MVWB755 washer and from day 1 she had to call Maytag with issues due to residue left on the clothes. They told her to not use this setting... buy this detergent... only use cold water etc. Never did they offer a repair guy to come out. A year passes still having issues shes out of warranty. They now offer a repair guy but claim theyre going to charge her $90. Once she explains to them that she was never offered a repair guy & they shouldve done this before. They decided to waive this fee and send a repair guy. Once the technician comes out to the house they do absolutely nothing and they fill it up with water say we need to clean it and Ill come back out and do another diagnostic. When they come back all they do is fill it up with water get a glass check the water and say, Nope, no floating residue. Everythings fine. They then tell her she needs to get a water softener which is going to be hundreds of dollars. The technician also says do not use any other settings except for these two. Can someone please explain to me why they have all these dang buttons and settings if were not supposed to be using any of them and why all of the clothes come out with soap residue scummy residue all over them? The old washer never did this. It was a Kenmore and its the same water same everything but this Maytag washer is been nothing but problems. It leaves the residue which is stripped all over dark and white clothes, it is extremely loud, not all the clothes even get wet! Maytag is been extremely uncooperative with assisting my Nana. They tell her no one else not one other person is having this problem but when I look up this issue I find that about 2500 people on this forum are having very similar problems. Something has to be done. Maytag should have to take responsibility for this washer. The bottom line is it supposed to be an XL. When my grandparents are washing its only for two people. Theyre not even filling that washer up of all of the clothes are not even getting wet. It just goes to show you that the energy-efficiency that they claim is not working. The washers not getting enough water inside of it. Its not fully rinsing the clothes and no one should have to put the clothes in wash them then do a whole another rinse cycle just to get the dang soap off. So basically at this point she stuck having to do multiple washes using way more utilities than she should have to and Maytag is basically going to do nothing. It wont help her over the phone the technician is a joke and it looks like so many of you people are having the same issues.
Neptune 4000 washer - Worst washer EVER! Two weeks after we bought it sounded like a jet engine during the spin cycle. They replaced the bearing parts. Only cost us 450 in labor. One year later, again the bearing but this time we insisted on full coverage. 6 months later, here we are again! Most expensive washer in the history of washers and this is a KNOWN issue - yet Maytag gets away with it while consumers foot the bill! Ridiculous! Never again will I purchase their product and make dang sure everyone I know stays away too and everyone that hears my washer is in shock that it hasnt injured something or someone. Its only a matter of time!
I have never had washing machine that caused this many headaches. The point of a machine is to save you time and energy washing by hand. When the cycle is over, the clothes are tightly spun together that we spend half an hour attempting to untie all the clothes that are woven together. The clothes come back to us in knots, or torn because of the rough nature this machine has created. I have never seen anything like this before and would gladly throw this piece of junk out. We are moving and it would create more headaches to deal with this at the moment. I read that the company had severe money problems and it was due to this very issue. I cant believe a company this well known would allow this to ever hit the market! To openly LIE to people and make money off a product that is faulty deserves the karma they get. Please stay away from this company and their rubbish machines they make and then sell. BUYER BEWARE!
I purchased a Maytag model # MRT 18 FFFHO1 refrigerator from Home Depot. After 7 months, it stopped cooling (wouldnt cool below 52 degrees). Fortunately, I had taken out a 5-year extended warranty. Thats the good news. The bad news is that after numerous trips by a certified repair man -- and three spring/summer months without reliable refrigeration -- Home Depot promised a refund. Well see.Bottom line: keep looking for a refrigerator that works. I have tried GE, Frigidaire, Maytag and Sanyo. Since many of these companies are really just one inept cooperation with more names than Frank Abagnale (Catch Me If You Can), let the buyer beware! I would give Home Depot protection plan 5 stars, though. They stayed with me through thick and thin: by emails, phone calls and text messages. However, their protection plan is worth more than Home Depots appliance products -- through no fault of theirs.
Refrigerator (Model Mff2558vems) purchased end of November 2011. Early in 2013 notice refrigerator first forming ice all over freezer, including an ice sheet on bottom of freezer. Then noticed water around refrigerator. Called maytag and they sent repairman even though a little over year and out of warranty. Their service people seemed to know exactly what was causing the leak as they came in with the correct replacement part. Worked fine however, there was damage to my newly refinished hardwood floors which Maytag did pay to repair. A couple of days ago I opened the freezer and again noticed ice all over freezer. The next day, water all around freezer. I cleaned everything up, so I thought. The day after, we noticed the hardwood in kitchen buckling up far from refrigerator and the laminate in dining room bubbling, even though there was no visible sign of water. Called Maytag repair company but they couldnt come out for a couple of days. Called another local repair service familiar with Maytag refrigerators and he couldnt find anything wrong with refrigerator even though he knows leaking caused by refrigerator. Called insurance co. and they sent over service master. Leak is definitely coming from refrigerator. They had to pull up hardwood floor, part of walls, the dining room. They now have five large fans going and a defroster to dry things up. This is upsetting, as my daughters wedding is next month, my husband is currently laid off and I dont need this kind of aggravation again. I love the french door idea, so roomy for my large family, but I am now afraid of this refrigerator. I dont want it but think it is ridiculous I have to shell out more money when the refrigerator is less than 3 years old. I talked with a higher level supervisor at Maytag and they are only willing to give a 100.00 rebate towards a new refrigerator since the refrigerator is out of warranty. This is ridiculous. I thought by buying American I was helping our economy but what I got in return is heartache and crappy merchandise. If there is a lawsuit in California against Maytag about these refrigerators I want to join. My friend in N. CA who bought her Maytag refrigerator the same time I did is also experiencing leaking. So frustrating.
I bought my microwave in Nov of 2015. We began having problems in April 2017. When you cook or warm something up it gets hot. The light wont come on and the display continues to say open/close door. After about 4 hours of cool down time it may or may not restart. After contacting Maytag I was told I should have purchased the warranty. They also informed me that they do not have repairman in my area. We have just replaced all appliances with Maytag so now I am concerned they are all junk. We did buy warranties on the major appliances, but how will they repair with no repairman in my area. Maytag used to be the best appliances but after this experience and now I have a broken microwave after only a year and a half that they dont stand behind, I will never purchase any Maytag again. It also seems that this is not the only issue they are having with their microwaves. I have contacted my Lowes where we purchased and they even made a Maytag call with no results. Maybe the suppliers should stop promoting and selling their items. We replaced a 22 yr old Kenmore microwave that was still working thats why this is so heart breaking. Stand behind your products. No wonder you dont have repairman. They would never get a day off from repairing your junk.
Good deal, recommended by dealer friend. Front loaders, high efficiency, 12 years or so. Finally needs new bearings on the washer. Replaced electronic board 5 years ago. High repair costs would be the worst which is related to low-quality construction. I expect my next pair to last as long as the last 1. Full size, not stackable but oversized drums. Relatively low water usage, lots of different settings for different loads for washing and drying, automatic water level and wrinkle guard.
My wife told me yesterday she was getting a f51 code... went on you tube and took the top off and the clothes holder out, found 1 quarter and 3 dimes... put it all back together... same thing... took the back off... hoses off, unplugged it and the allen that holds the motor had backed out... no more maytags for me... Tightened the allen, all is fine for now... my opinion, this should never ever happen... No lock washer anything engineering to prevent this from occurring... My grade: replace the engineer...
I bought the Washer and Dryer. All I can say about this washer is that it does not use water enough to be considered a commercial type of washer. Its balance is poor also for being so deep. I have to pour a bit of water on the clothes so the sensor thinks it’s a heavy load and do an extra rinse. And I saw that on a video regarding this washer trick. But I’m wasting more water cause I have to rearrange the clothes when done. I put the top ones on the bottom and start over. To me it’s a waste of effort sometimes I just go to the laundromat. They should consider their products if we all are complaining about this they should really do something. To me the washer is really useless.
Wish I would have read the many, many, many reviews on the Maytag MDB8959SBS dishwasher before buying it. As noted by others, the touch control buttons stopped working 1 month after the 1 year warranty expired and Maytag wont do anything about it. BE WARY OF THE 10 YEAR WARRANTY CLAIM - IT DOESNT COVER THIS PROBLEM. Maytag should issue a recall on this product and do the right thing - take care of customers like they used to.
I made the mistake of buying the stainless steel bottom freezer (model# MBL2258XES1) approximately 1 year before the freezer started to make a periodic clunking sound. The repairman responded because my year warranty was still active and found no cause for the noise. Fast forward a couple of months later and it started pouring water out onto my hardwood floors!!! Unfortunately it happened while we were away and my floors were destroyed. Maytag wants nothing to do with me. Im so disgusted. I now have to have a towel permanently on my kitchen floor. Nice. I made the unfortunate mistake of buying an Amana dishwasher recently not knowing that they were also owned by Maytag. The dishwasher is a water waster :( This is very disappointing - you try and buy American and you get screwed. If any lawsuits start up, sign me up!!!
I have filed a class action lawsuit against Whirlpool for their faulty control panels in their Whirlpool and Maytag dishwashers. Please contact my attorney, Eppsteiner & Fiorica Attorneys, LLP, at 866-548-8857 and let them know if you own or owned a dishwasher with control panel failures.
Neither appliance (Neptune dryer and washer purchased in 2006) was worth the price paid. The dryer drum actually cracked and the washer repeatedly gets hung up on 3E. I called about the dryer and got an Oh, well response. “We dont know whats happened to that dryer.” What happened to both appliances is that they were used for their intended purpose. I do laundry for my husband and me. Is that too much for a Maytag? Customer service is equal to indifference. So much for Neptune. And thanks for standing behind your products. What is the life expectancy of a dryer drum anyway?
My Maytag is 2 weeks old, and knew from the start I had a lemon. The compressor sounds like a giant freezer. I had the service man take a look at it, and while he was here the compressor did not come on. He pulled the plug from the fridge and turned it back on and still it did not turn on. I asked him to stay till it turned on and he said he could not stay any longer. I waited for him from 2 PM till 7:30 PM. He was to arrive between 3 and 6. Talk about frustration, and I only wish I had read all the reports before I bought this junker. I was so worried I decided to get the insurance for 4 years. The reason the ice forms is because you have no control over the ice. You cant see them and they get stuck. I had a side by side before this, and I can kick myself for not buying a side by side again. I was told to shut it it down when youve had enough ice cubes, to stop it from getting stuck. This ice maker is so big and so hard to pull out and the switch to turn it off is on the inside. So far my only complaint was the humming, but I can see a tough road ahead.
Maytag Performa Side by Side fridge PSD262LHEB door handle pulled off for the second time since purchase but this time, the handle knocked over a pot of hot water on me. I am just relieved that I have no small children anymore. I would consider this very dangerous in any household. The first time, it was covered under warranty along with the broken ice maker. The repairman stated that he had replaced many handles and due to design flaw, they would not last long.
My dishwasher is 9.5 months old. The computer board needs to be replaced and they cannot find the part. It’s been 2 1/2 weeks since I called in the repair which is under warranty. I was told they have 10 business days to search the country. Really search the country. Does anyone know what will happen if they cannot find the parts I need?
I own a MAYTAG BRAVOS XL* TOP-LOADING HIGH EFFICIENCY LOW-WATER WASHER. On 9/1/15, after reporting a problem, a service person arrived to assess the problem. His diagnosis led to a second visit on 9/8. On the second visit he replaced multiple parts, assuring us that the problem was fixed. When this proved to be false, we called for a third visit; this time a different person arrived. After disassembling the washer he found a large hole and another cracked area in the inner plastic portion of the tub. We made a fourth appointment for repairs, receiving assurances that it would be repaired at that time. I received an e-mail today (9/16/15) informing me that an additional 7 days would be required to arrange for delivery the required part. In the interim, my wife and I are forced to use a local coin operated laundry about every three days, totaling 7 visits at approximately $25 and 3 hours per visit before the next scheduled appointment. The compensation offered, 9 months extension of the existing warranty is woefully inadequate. I want the appliance replaced, as history has taught me that you are obviously unwilling or incapable of repairing it correctly in a timely manner. Additionally, I want the initial warranty that accompanies a new product extended to a full 3 years. We have paid out over $150 and wasted 18 to 21 hours of our time unnecessarily. I expect compensation for the funds spent as a direct result of the bungling, incompetence of your service staff. My questions are these: 1. Was the part defective prior to installation? 2. If so, why did the representative not notice it and refrain from installing a broken part? 3. Why was there no mention of the damage on the first visit? 4. If not, how did the damage occur? Did the service man damage it and fail to report it? 5. What caused the delay in obtaining the part? I have other questions, but will no longer spend any more time on this debacle. I cannot honestly say which is worse, their quality or their pathetic version of customer service.
25 months ago, I bought a brand new Maytag stainless steel microwave. We had upgraded all of our appliances except the microwave when we moved in our home. Our first purchase was the Maytag refrigerator. Should have learned my lesson from that because after less than a year, the freezer on the bottom went out twice! We bought this new microwave to replace an old one that didnt match the other appliances and was worn out. Two months ago, the code SE started appearing and then would go away after a few minutes. Now it doesnt go away and you cant use the microwave. I finally called a repair person since its out of warranty and was told that it would cost over $300 to fix it. Really! Im so angry because now I have to take money. I dont have to replace a microwave that should have another few years of use. Nothing at all reliable about a Maytag. I doubt Ill buy anything else they make.
I had purchased a brand new Maytag refrigerator and in less than a year, the ice dispenser stopped working. I had called Maytag warranty department in regards to this matter and they flat out said, There is nothing we can do about it. I will never deal with this company whatsoever and wouldnt recommend it to anyone about it. Less than a year and they refuse to fix the item they sold. No better than a used car lot attitude.
