FIX: Touch the Control Lock button, or (on older models) determine which button activates control lock from your Owner's Manual. Some models require you to press and hold the button.

CODE: dET
PROBLEM: Detergent cartridge not detected in the dispenser.
FIX: This is on select models. If you are using single-load doses of detergent, ignore this message. Ensure the dispenser cartridge is inserted correctly and the dispenser drawer is shut completely.

CODE: Int
PROBLEM: The cycle was paused or canceled.
FIX: The washer may take 20 to 30 minutes to stop spinning and drain, and will display this error code during that time. To remove the code, press pause or cancel button twice and the power button once. If the code is still displayed, unplug the washer or disconnect the power for one minute.

CODE: rL or F34
PROBLEM: Items were detected in the washer during the Clean Washer cycle.
FIX: Remove items from the drum and restart the Clean Washer cycle.

I have owned two Maytag washers. Top load and front load. They have been the biggest piece of garbage I have ever purchased. My current front loader eats and destroys clothing. I have had to throw out numerous clothes as the machine simply destroys them. I have also had numerous problems with Maytag washers. The wiring is garbage. Couple yrs after purchase the washer shorted out. Im handy so I took it apart. Discovered a broken wire. I had to rewire a new connection with as. The wire used in manufacturing is so thin its line a strand of hair. Now it leaks under the drum. I had to place a container under the drum to collect the water. My other purchase was a top load. The lint was just a nightmare. Maytag sent me some contraption after numerous complaints that was suppose to assist in the collection of lint. Again, a piece of garbage. DONT BUY. Save your MONEY.

I purchased a MTW6600TB0 Washer and Dryer on 6/17/07. I have had issues with the washer from the beginning; smell in towels and mechanical problems as well. The machine does not fill properly and receive error codes that are electrical issues per A & E service. I get LF errors occasionally and randomly on different cycles. I finally called for service because I now am receiving F51 Error, which has to do with the basket per A & E service technician. I was told on Black Friday that my machine required both baskets and the rotary motor. My machine is just 4/5 years old. No unusual wear and tear. There are only three people in my family and we live in a fairly warm climate so no heavy winter clothing, etc. I was told that my stainless steel basket was rusting to my plastic basket. I am still trying to comprehend the fact that two materials that are not supposed to rust are rusting. After looking for a new washer over Thanksgiving weekend, I find out that Maytag warranties their stainless steel basket and rotary motors for 10 years. So do they warranty the things they say the warranty or not? Of course, it is a holiday weekend and I cannot get a hold of Maytag. I paid for a service call and the technician told me I would be responsible for the repairs at about $500 for parts plus labor. I looked up the parts he recommended replacing and it was over $800. I paid $1000 for this machine less than 5 years ago. Thats $200 a year for the privilege to use a Maytag. Additionally, my set is black. I can not find a black washer anywhere.

I have had my Maytag set for shy of 2 full years, of actual usage time, that is. My dryer seems to be functioning normally, minus an occasional lengthy cycle time, even after the clothes are dry. The washer however, is sitting in my garage now. F51 error code, which online told me the rotary position sensor was the issue. Yes, I was told by an A&E repairman, who was at the house for an unrelated repair, that it was the bearing that was bad. When he showed me what I was looking for, there was the bearing laying in the clear plastic housing, in the underside of the washer. Its going to cost around $350.00 to get the part, if it can be found, and the service call. No, not really worth wasting more money on it. I am very unsatisfied with this unit. With 4 kids and 2 adults at home, I expected much more from the Maytag name.

Purchased 6 11 21 from Menards. $1100.00. With extended warranty $134.99. Lid lock inoperative on 9 11 21. Called Menards, past 30 days. They will not help. Called Maytag, took 2 weeks to get a diagnosis on issue, while technician was there week of 28th the motherboard fired. Another month, part came in October 23rd then wiring harness fired, and pump also. 1 week for parts, which were replaced, Technician came and was stumped as it still doesnt work. Diagnosis after this appointment for the pump replacement is clutch, rotor & stator are fried.Nov 18th, new rotor came in and Technician says although brand new in box, it is defective from factory. New one ordered. In meantime I have called maytag every week with no results, they tried to get me to accept 100.00 gift card, I laughed, as we are a family of 6 and generally have 6-8 loads a week. And have spent on average 70.00 a week for the last 14 weeks, we could have bought another washer by now. Last maytag lasted 16 years! This one 3 months...They finally decided to replace it, but we wont recieved it for another 4-5 weeks. So, 20 - 22 weeks of no brand new washer bought in good faith, brand rep, and paid for based on prior experience. So far, No customer service, No brand reputation, No product longevity. I will never buy another maytag, ever. If you only had negative stars to award this useless product. This is almost criminal, and is close to being fraudulent and willfully deceitful. It is false advertising and to date they have not really stood behind their product...

Washer Model MVWC555DWO. I dont like this machine. I thought Maytag is a good brand name, but I dont think so anymore. The engineers who designed these new machines with the water level saver dont do laundry. In order to get the cloth covered with water, I have to use the bulky sheet level. I have 2 jeans and a sheet that got holes in them, because the water level was not right. I would have my old machine repaired, if I have know how my new one would do. Im stuck with this machine. I dreaming that this machine breaks down soon and I can buy a new that has a better water level. My old one had water saver level too, but did a great job with the water level.

Bravos XL top loading washer looks nice and very large, but thats about how deep it goes. It leaves even a small load half-unwashed unless you select deep water wash and even then it FAILS TO USE ENOUGH WATER. I tried to go and fill it up once with tap water and it totally DRAINED THE WATER AND SOAP before it unlocked! It was on Deep water wash and the top of the load was totally dry as I dumped the hot water onto it.It is a bad design and it should have never been sold. I know it has special places designed only for HE detergents but when you try to use a Tide Pod the detergent NEVER FULLY WASHES OUT OF THE CLOTHES.... Too small a load, too big a load, exactly 5 pounds or exactly 10 pounds it really doesnt work very well - AT ALL! I was thinking that I might like to get some SHOS at the low price it is but now I can see why they are definitely not getting back into business.

We bought a Maytag Bravos XL assuming that because of the brand name it would be a great machine. WRONG. This washer is truly awful. Every single load of darks comes out covered in soap scum. I always have to rewash every dark load with no soap for a full normal cycle in order to get the scum off. My whites are probably also scummy but often I just throw them in the dryer as I cant see the scum. Its just a very, very poorly designed machine that obviously wasnt tested before they started manufacturing and selling it. Its criminal how Maytag continued to sell this piece of junk, and Ill never trust their brand again.

Owned my Maytag Maxima front loading HE washer for just under 2 years. Went to turn it on one day and got an error code that I later found out meant the computer board went bad (a very costly expense). I called Maytag and explained that a $1200 washing machine should last more than 23 months and if they stand behind their products they should do something to cover this repair. Even after speaking to a manager they told me too bad they couldnt help me. But they would be happy to sell me a $350 extended warranty.... Never again Maytag/Whirlpool!

When Whirlpool Corp. bought out Maytag several years ago they continued using the Maytag name only.. The quality is now less than substandard, It is a cheaply built piece of crap.. We would sell it in a garage sale and replace it with a quality stove/oven but we dont want anyone else to have to deal with this piece of junk! It will soon go to the landfill!!!

Thanks for the other reviews about the control panel problems... I too have the same issue with the short circuit. My Maytag dishwasher mdb7749sam1 was installed in January 2013. I spent an hour on the phone and the chat... HERES THE SOLUTION: When I told them the machine started in the middle of the night on its own, it became a safety issue. I have all the same problems as everyone else, flashing lights, the washer does not properly respond to the input from the control panel... I was told that even though it was out of warranty, as a gesture of goodwill Maytag is sending out an authorized repair service to fix whatever is wrong at no cost to me at all... Tells me that there really is an underlying issue. Anyway best of luck to anyone else in the same boat. I rated them as a 3 - not happy that this machine failed and I wont buy another, but they seemed to jump on fixing it...

This fridge is a piece of crap. Bought brand new and right after warranty the freezer started freezing up and leaking all over the floor, ruined the wall behind the fridge which created mold as well as the puddle on the floor that multiple people in my home slipped and fell and it started shocking anyone who touches it. Called a repair man he says he doesnt know why its shocking probably is the manufacturers fault as well as the defect causing it to freeze up and leak. I call Maytag and the guy doesnt seem to care that my 7 year old has been shocked and says unplug it and I will just need a new fridge. I already spent the money on the new fridge. Why should I have to go buy a new one now after 2 years, that I cant afford. Its ridiculous how many other people are having problems. Its a defect and should be recalled and they should have replaced the crap fridge they sold me in the first place. You would think for such a big company they would do something but yet people are getting seriously injured and this seems like it should be taken to court for a lawsuit. I am extremely unsatisfied and wont ever buy a Maytag and will let all my family and clients through my cleaning business not to ever purchase a fridge from Maytag.

In August of 2009, we had an opportunity to remodel our kitchen plus add new windows and doors. How exciting! SO we had put down new flooring in our kitchen that matched our oak cabinets and since we had a little money saved, we wanted to purchase new appliances to match. We purchased a Maytag side by side with ice and water in the door. It also had the fingerprint resistant stuff on the outside. It cost about $1300. You buy name brand so they will last a while but here we are November 12, 2014, 7 years later and the compressor goes out. If repaired, it will cost $8090 to fix. Why do I want another Maytag. Further down on this page is my complaint about the dishwasher. This complaint is about the company. This will demonstrate how cheap Maytag is. I filed a copy of my complaint below with the BBB, who in turn forwarded it to Maytag. They sent me a form with rules that they call Dishwasher Recall. Maytag will send me a $250 Prepaid MasterCard, providing that I: 1. Remove the old dishwasher myself. 2. Destroy the machine and/or render it inoperable. 3. Sign and date under PROOF OF DESTRUCTION AFFIRMATION that I have complied. Statement on the form (Your signature is your confirmation that you have complied). 4. Purchase a stainless steel machine (over $700). They list models you should buy. 5. Record on the form; Model Number, Serial Number, Purchase Price, Store where purchased, and Date purchased. 6. Send the signed Rebate Form back along with the sales slip. (Sales slip must show clearly Purchase Date, Purchase Price and Retailer Name). 7. Allow 6 to 8 weeks from the time the Rebate form is mailed. Are they kidding?! If I were to buy a machine at Home Depot, they will deliver, install and remove the old machine. I dont think I would take a Maytag dishwasher for free.

Person that hooked it up couldnt wait around to see if all was okay. Ran dishwasher after he left and as usual for this model it leaks worse than before. This Maytag (Whirlpool) model MDB7749SBMI dishwasher was purchased 10/28/13
This Maytag (Whirlpool) model MDB7749SBMI dishwasher was purchased 10/28/13 at Home Depot. That makes it 2 1/2 years old to date. It has been a good dishwasher up until now. A few weeks ago I noticed it was doing something wonky. First of all it was not responding its usual way when I tried to turn it on after closing the door. The start button was not responding immediately, nor were some of the other buttons. I also noticed that after the dry cycle had completed and the door was then opened to unload, that the lights on the door were flashing. Then, when I shut the door after unloading the dishes, the washer would come on without having any buttons pushed. Recently, in addition to the difficulty we are experiencing getting it to start, the washer will keep running without ever turning off. Last night I turned it on before going to bed, and it was still running this morning. Calling the service number, the control panel part will run around $150, with a $98 charge for repairman to come out. Who knows if that 98$ isnt just to walk in the door, and whether that includes the time it takes to install the part. The dishwasher was around $400 with my husbands military discount from Home Depot, so it seems crazy to spend that kind of money to have a part replaced that is going to break again because of PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE. If that part is replaced (at half the cost of the dishwasher) whos to say what other part is going to break next, perhaps requiring another service call plus price of part. So, conclusion is to throw this one in the landfill and purchase another dishwasher, sadly. The case of Planned Obsolescence is reflected in many of the comments/reports here on Consumer Affairs. The age of the failing control panels of the Maytag/Whirlpool washers are running around the same time spans. No doubt in my mind that these control panels are designed to fail after a specific amount of run cycles/time on this machine. These appliance companies that are manufacturing these total crap appliances so that people will have to buy replacements within 3 or 4 years are filling our already packed landfills while robbing the consumer. Its plain to see for all who care to investigate the matter. A service repairman whom Ive used for years and has been in the business for 25, told me that most appliances today are total pieces of junk compared what they used to be and are designed to fail. He said it has greatly impacted his business because people are replacing appliances versus repairing them because it is not cost effective to have them repaired. He also added that the guts of these appliances looked like they were made from Cracker Jack toy quality plastic materials. There should be laws to stop these manufactures from Planned Obsolescence, and we need to go back to the way appliances use to be made... to last! I have no idea what its going to take to ever see that happen. This is what happens when you have very little competition and 2 major appliance manufacturers. More parts are being designed to fail, so that they can line their pockets. Pitiful.

Seven years ago when we bought a new house, we bought all new appliances, Maytag Washer and Dryer, because they were suppose to be extra good and sturdy, what a joke. For the past four or five years, I have had to replace the lock on the door of the washer, which means Im without a washer for a week. Since no one stocks the parts because it is such a joke, some repair places wont even consider repairing a Neptune. Seems like since the company stopped making them because of the problems they have, as a minimum they should replace all Neptune washers that have been sold with a reliable washer, front loading in the same price range. I will never buy another Maytag product and will be sure to tell everyone I know not to buy them either.

Purchased the Bravos XL top load washer a month ago. We work outside daily and our clothes get very dirty. I havent really taxed the machine yet (Im doing what I consider a normal load of wash. I know the machine could handle twice as many clothes as its the 5.3 cubic feet washer, but I havent had that many clothes to put in at one time). The washer works great. Clothes are clean and smell fresh. For those that say this washer is extremely loud - you must not have something set up incorrectly. Either the wet pan you put under the machine is making contact with parts it shouldnt or someone didnt level it properly. Really, this is NOT a loud machine. We purchased from Lowes and they delivered, set up and leveled both the washer and dryer. (Yes, we also purchased the matching Bravos XL front load dryer and were impressed that it dries our clothes in half the time our old one did). We would definitely recommend the Maytag Bravos XL washer and dryer.

I HATE this washer. It had such good reviews before I bought it, but I have never been so disappointed. Doesnt use NEARLY enough water to get anything clean, even when I try deep water wash, bedding, or power wash. You cant switch modes in the middle of a load, and if you leave it paused too long, it drains on you. Ive tried balling everything up as the manufacturer advised. I tried using less detergent, again as advised. Nothing works. Sometimes the clothes on top dont even get wet. Dont waste your money!! If I can find a way to fix my old washer, Im going to do that and throw this thing to the junk heap.

I have had this washer for a few years now and it is the WORST washing machine ever. I cant even wash a lightweight cotton blanket. It continually unlevels even with me rearranging the blanket over and over. Ill add some, take some out, whatever. It still wont work. The blanket fully wet is also HEAVY and with my arthritis, is very hard to pick up. I dont think enough water goes into the drum to actually clean the clothes either. The clothes at the end of the cycle come out in a weird mushroom form. And when the clothes do get through a complete cycle, they are twisted so tightly it is hard to get the wrinkles out in the dryer. Why would they sell a machine like this without having testing it more first? Dont get suckered into the Maytag name. Terrible washer!

Ten years ago I bought a very expensive set of Maytag Neptune Washer MAH5500BWW and dryer units with the single all-in-one pedestal. The washer starts sounding like a freight train during the fast spin dry cycle. A service tech came out, turned it on, listened, told me it is bad outer tub bearings going bad. And the price to fix is $846. Its essentially a throw-it-away deal. The tech says he has done hundreds of these and its a 3-hour major tear down, the bearings are press fitted and you essentially buy a new outer tub instead of replacing the bearings in the old one. Maytag went out of business and was bought by Whirlpool. What a piece of crap and to think how great Maytag once was. Now I have a dryer and a pedestal that probably wont fit any other washer brand.

Maytag Appliances - biggest rip off ever! Home Depot needs to stop carrying Maytag appliances. I purchased a Maytag washer Type 832-A, Model number MHWE200XW00, Serial number HL11990545 in May, 2011 from Home Depot. After just three years it flooded my laundry room. Home Depot couldnt help me, and Maytag Customer Service tried to really rip me off.I called Home Depot, asked why they continued to carry a product they knew had terrible complaints and all they could tell me was they are sorry I am unhappy with my washer, then gave me Maytags customer service number. I called Maytag - first the guy tried to sell me a $400 extended warranty package - total rip off. Maytag should be ashamed, then said he couldnt help because it was past the time period. There is no telling how many people they are ripping off with that little deal. Consumer Affairs should be all over this. So then he offered to get a Maytag repairman to come to my house, but couldnt tell me how much the diagnostic visit would cost or anything else. He was worthless.I hired a local repair person to come to my home, the part is $140, its the tub seal, weak and flimsy - has a giant hole. I only wash clothes and towels, nothing else. My local guy is cutting me a deal on the labor, still going to be $200. Maytag isnt what they used to be and I will never, ever purchase another product from them again, ever. And I would suggest you dont either. Maytag appliances only last a couple years at the most, and its customer service is horrid.

We bought a Maytag Neptune front loading washer from Bens Maytag in Surrey
We bought a Maytag Neptune front loading washer from Bens Maytag in Surrey four years ago and it has been nothing but trouble. There is no screen in the machine to prevent small things (like coins, screws) from going behind the rubber seal and into the pump. As a result, coins frequently block off the outflow to the pump so the machine doesnt drain. We have had to pay for service calls more times than we can count, and have spent more than original price of the machine making repairs and replacing the pump. We now have learned to take off the hoses and open the pump to remove coins ourselves, which we have to do every few weeks! Bens Maytag tells us that its our fault for letting coins go in the wash. There is no accountability for the faulty design of the machine that allows this to happen. We should have cut out losses and thrown this piece of junk out three years ago. We want Maytag to take responsibility for the faulty design of this product and to credit at least our purchase price toward another machine that works properly!

We bought a Maytag dishwasher in May of last year. The control panel went out about 3 months after we got it. It just started doing its own thing Like not running the wash cycle or a different cycle than we pushed. We called for a repair and were told by the repair man that the control panel was on the fritz. He ordered a new one and told us it would be a month before he could come back and install it. When the control panel showed up at our house, we installed it ourselves because we did not want to have a faulty dishwasher running in the house.Just yesterday we noticed a huge rusty area on the bottom rack. We called and were hold for 20 minutes if not more, before we were even able to talk to a rep. She then came up with every excuse as to why our rack was rusty (hard water, water changing??). We asked for a new rack but she wanted to send a repair kit. We were on the phone with her for half an hour, if not more, and she just refused to send a new rack. When we finally asked to speak to the manager we were told the wait time was 32 minutes and hung up! Do not buy crappy Maytag appliances with even crappier customer service reps! (see our review about our Maytag fridge!).

We purchased a Maytag Refrigerator-Freezer from Home Depot, in July, 2014. The first two months we had this appliance, it would not make ice (we purchased one that had an ice maker it the freezer!). After numerous calls to Home Depot and about 7 service visits, the service company gave up trying to get the ice maker to work, and instructed Home Depot to give us a replacement refrigerator. The new one came with an ice maker that works some better, but still very slow in making ice, and the new refrig makes a grinding noise every time we open the door. The Maytag Company, whose service people never have anything to do, say this is a cosmetic problem, and they refuse to fix it.Have been in consultation with Whirlpool Company (who bought out Maytag I assume), trying to get the appliance repaired... or at least put an end to the grinding noise. We paid a lot of money for this refrigerator freezer, and have had nothing but trouble and issues with it. If you are thinking about buying a Maytag refrigerator -- Dont!!

We have always purchased Maytag products and fee we should get a new washer. The warranty is up in one month. If there is anything you can do to help it would be appreciated. They are not willing to do anything about the repair on my machine, but send out someone and make me pay for it. Since I bought it in 2002, I would want to know why was I not included in the repairs and why wont they honor me in this since I am the machines original owner. Help, I worry that I am not having clean clothes and it is contributing to illness due to mold spores!

Maytag dishwasher mdb7749sbm2. Purchased the above Maytag dishwasher model in July 2013. Eight months later the control panel ribbon strip burnt out. The first of many times to come. I had the panel replaced three times during the first year (warrantied by Maytag, now Whirlpool). All I can say is thank goodness, I paid $30.00 for the extended 3-year warranty. It has been the best $30.00 I have ever spent. Unfortunately it doesnt count for all the frustration this appliance has caused me. Ever since the first repairman walked through the door, all he could say is that the control panel was poorly made, electricity and water does not mix and never will. When you use the steam option all you are doing is adding to the problem. (The steam option is the sole reason why I bought the model in the first place!)Anyhow, this model has broken down three more times and it is currently down again as I am writing this, awaiting for a service person to hopefully come out as promised next week. I purchased this appliance two years ago and still have one more year of warranty left. Once it is done, I will be shopping for another dishwasher. If I didnt have it covered with a warranty, I would be paying the service fees of about $251.00 each time they came to change the panel. Shame on Maytag/Whirlpool for not recalling this model.

3 years ago, we purchased all new Maytag appliances for our home. Within one year, we had issues with the top load refrigerator getting warm and the bottom load freezer getting extremely cold. After calling Maytag and getting horrible customer service (long wait on the phone, no supportive/suggestive advice, rude representative), we were given a phone number for a local Maytag repair man who charged $300 just to walk into the house. He was literally in and then out of our house within 10 minutes. His advice was to unplug and defrost the refrigerator for 24 hours. Thankfully, his suggestion worked, but should have been given to us as a troubleshooter by the representative on the phone with Maytag. We have had to unplug and defrost the refrigerator about every 3 weeks since. It has become very annoying and stressful. There is obviously a defect in the refrigerator that should be replaced by Maytag! I will never buy a Maytag product again.

I chose Maytag because they received a good rating from Consumer Reports. I liked that they were for extra large loads however now that Ive had them for 12 years I know the large loads are no more than my old Kenmore washer and dryer. The real deal breaker for me is the size of load that you can actually wash. I was hoping I would be able to wash a blanket without worrying about the washer going off balance. My washer and dryer are Maytag although I dont know the model number. They are full size but the extra large load is not extra large. The knob on my washer broke and Maytag wanted $15 for a plastic knob! I found it on eBay for $3. The washer goes off balance too easily.

We had a Whirlpool dishwasher for 24 years, and when it was time to purchase a new one, I did a lot of research before choosing our Maytag. Reviews by other consumers who had purchased dishwashers was very helpful in making our decision, and we have had no problems in the almost 18 months that we have had this dishwasher. It is very quiet. It washes and dries the dishes with no streaks, although I wash off the dishes before loading them. It provides 5 cycles and 4 options and lights blink, when the washing and drying cycles are complete. I would recommend the Maytag, Model #MDB4949SHBO wholeheartedly.

Bought this as W/D set brand new from Home Depot. Had been noticing incredible wear and tear on clothes, as things get so tangled up and need to be practically ripped apart before going into dryer. Cycle times are crazy long, up to over an hour in some cases. Doesn’t have a “Speed Wash” cycle. But WORST of all, after less than 3 years, it just stopped draining properly. Tried all the Codes test, etc. Finally called a repairman just to be told repair costs would probably cost more than the machine is worth. $125 to be told we ought to just buy a new washer. I purchased a floor model Maytag Dishwasher from Abt electronics about a year and a half ago. 2 months ago, various light started flashing. Somehow I managed to get it going. Some blogs reported it might be a drainage problem. Others suggested pressing a certain sequence of buttons. After Each time I got it to work, it became harder the next. I bought Maytag because my old dishwasher lasted 13 years. What is interesting is that a company whose name Ive forgotten sent me bimonthly requests to purchase a warranty from them. Now they have stopped. I am a single mom of 3 with an unemployed ex. I work and support my family without any assistance. I count every penny. I cannot afford repairs nor a replacement now or any time soon. This is a travesty. My door says 10-year limited warranty and the delineates stainless steel tub and racks and chopper blade, but not the panel. I do not understand how Maytags denial of the problem and their unwillingness to correct the problem can improve their image. I will never purchase from Maytag or its associated companies ever again. What a scam! To be honest though, I have not contacted the company since it is not under warranty and all the blogs have relayed the same message: Maytag denies there is a problem.

Washer was delivered Feb 2016. (First one delivered Jan 2016 with damage.) Home Depot HEAVILY promoted this model - we paid $600+. This washer has NEVER thoroughly cleaned clothes & now does not drain completely!!! Theres always lines of dirt left on clothes - you can see dirt clearly on dark clothes. Washer does NOT fill with enough water to thoroughly wet clothes! (Even on the bedding, extra dirty settings!) Clothes smell clean because the detergent was not washed or rinsed out. Washer does not agitate, turn over or rotate clothes... It gently shakes the tub side-to-side (like a mild earthquake does the ground) which does NOT move clothes around. Home Depot salesman said it strongly rocks clothes turning them around and under. It does not do that! You have to stop washer and PHYSICALLY move clothes from center and turn them around so bottom of pile gets wet (Now I understand why this model has a see-through lid!!!) This model is supposed to pre-wash sense the load amount by shaking the tub side-to-side to gauge how much water is need - FALSE ADVERTISING! I put gallons of water in two loads (same bulk & weight of clothes) to see if more water would be used on the heavier load - results: the same amount of water was used on both loads. Now (Oct 2016) the washer is not draining completely and going back to wash instead of rinse, drain! Maytag Corporation just says theyll send a repair person out but this is a SMALL town & the repair shops theyll use here are sketchy! This Washer is a huge waste of money just to own laundry status tone bells & non-usable settings. Its probably in violation of OSHA health/safety codes because if there are chemicals, feces (sorry, but wheres theres kids...), blood, diseases (if you visit anyone in a hospital), etc on the clothes... Those things are NOT being washed out of the clothes, so youre being infected by touching improperly washed clothes. WHY is there not a RECALL for this appliance? There are many, many people having the SAME problems as us. This is our first HE top-loader and I wish I could afford to get rid of this & buy a washer with an agitator... But alas, we still owe $300 on this worthless (albeit fancy-looking) appliance. :( Maytag XL HE top load Washer MVWB835DW (Does NOT clean clothes!)

Horrible Refrigerator MSB27C2XAM00. I bought this refrigerator November 2013. Over the past 5 months I have made over 10 calls to Maytag customer service. Each phone call averages 30-45 minutes in length. In total I have and have had 6 service repair visits. Within 4 weeks of acquiring the unit, the letters on the ice/water dispenser wore off. They replaced the panel and within 4 weeks the letters wore off on the replacement panel. The subsequent calls made to customer service were regarding slow water dispensing and shrinking ice cubes. I was advised in order to maintain water speed and decent sized ice cube production I would have to replace the filter every time the water dispensing slows, which is on average every 4 to 6 weeks (each filter costs $40).When I asked why I would have to change the filter so frequently when the packaging instructions with the water filter states you can expect an average of 6 months use or 200 gallons, (mind you we are a family of 2 adults and one child under the age of 10 surely not consuming 200 gallons of water within 4 weeks), Maytag advised me to attain a whole house water filtration system. I was told that the water supply to my home must require extra filtration which is why the filters are not lasting. I asked if other NYC residents have made such complaints. Maytag advised they cannot share this information for confidentiality reasons. I told the rep that I did not want specific names/address of the complainants. I just wanted to know if there were any other similar complaints! If its the NYC water supply I would have to believe there would be similar complaints. Maytag would not advise. They will not budge in replacing the unit. After spending $1,400 on this refrigerator I am now expected to invest $500 annually on water filters in order for the refrigerator to work properly. I was also advised that if another service tech came to my home and the issue was found to be the same I would be responsible for payment of the service call. I did my research before purchasing this Maytag product. I ultimately selected Maytag for their reputation. I am so disappointed with this unit and with the company that I will never purchase another Maytag appliance and I will advise everyone I know to never purchase from this company again. Such a disappointment!

I bought my refrigerator in May of 2012. Brand new from Home Depot. It is less than 3 years old. Now it is not working. I did not purchase an extended warranty. I never thought in less than 3 years my fridge would stop working. I called Maytag, first question from them was about warranty. So I knew I was screwed. So, basically for $300 they would come out and fix the problem. I only paid $800 for the fridge. I am lost as to why in 3 years my fridge is broke?? Makes no sense to me. So I paid a tech $100 to tell me what was wrong with it. The evaporator is leaking. It is leaking. So the evaporator is bad and I cannot fix myself. So for another $300 they would fix, so a total of $400 in an $800 fridge.I am pissed. I remember my parents having a fridge for over 25 years. Why does Maytag not take responsibility for their problem. The products we buy should last longer than 3 years. It is just a way for them to get us to buy another product. So needless to say, I am one pissed off customer. So let the emailing and letter writing begin.

My grandmother got a Maytag Bravos XL MVWB755 washer and from day 1 she had to call Maytag with issues due to residue left on the clothes. They told her to not use this setting... buy this detergent... only use cold water etc. Never did they offer a repair guy to come out. A year passes still having issues shes out of warranty. They now offer a repair guy but claim theyre going to charge her $90. Once she explains to them that she was never offered a repair guy & they shouldve done this before. They decided to waive this fee and send a repair guy. Once the technician comes out to the house they do absolutely nothing and they fill it up with water say we need to clean it and Ill come back out and do another diagnostic. When they come back all they do is fill it up with water get a glass check the water and say, Nope, no floating residue. Everythings fine. They then tell her she needs to get a water softener which is going to be hundreds of dollars. The technician also says do not use any other settings except for these two. Can someone please explain to me why they have all these dang buttons and settings if were not supposed to be using any of them and why all of the clothes come out with soap residue scummy residue all over them? The old washer never did this. It was a Kenmore and its the same water same everything but this Maytag washer is been nothing but problems. It leaves the residue which is stripped all over dark and white clothes, it is extremely loud, not all the clothes even get wet! Maytag is been extremely uncooperative with assisting my Nana. They tell her no one else not one other person is having this problem but when I look up this issue I find that about 2500 people on this forum are having very similar problems. Something has to be done. Maytag should have to take responsibility for this washer. The bottom line is it supposed to be an XL. When my grandparents are washing its only for two people. Theyre not even filling that washer up of all of the clothes are not even getting wet. It just goes to show you that the energy-efficiency that they claim is not working. The washers not getting enough water inside of it. Its not fully rinsing the clothes and no one should have to put the clothes in wash them then do a whole another rinse cycle just to get the dang soap off. So basically at this point she stuck having to do multiple washes using way more utilities than she should have to and Maytag is basically going to do nothing. It wont help her over the phone the technician is a joke and it looks like so many of you people are having the same issues.

I bought my Maytag Model LA608 washer in 1976. It has very few electronics and a mechanical timer. It has been used every week since then for 2 or 3 people. It has had 3 problems in its lifetime. I replaced the 2 valves that control the hot and cold water entering the machine. I replaced a small plastic sprayer part. And last year I replaced 3 clamps that rusted and started to leak. Thats it in 40 years. I was able to open up the front and back covers to get at the parts quite easily. It is a simple machine with almost no electronics to stop working. Nothing bothers me about the machine. Its simple and wonderful. When it finally breaks, I will try and find a good sized machine that washes permanent press and regular clothes, has a controller to select hot/cold/warm water temperatures, has a regular and gentle cycle, and has 3 load levels for the water to be used. I will try to find one that is good quality with few electronic parts. I will not buy a high efficiency model that uses less water as I am on a well and water shortage is not a problem where I live. I will not buy a front loading model.I would not buy a machine that has options that I do not need. I would hope to find a quality machine similar to what I have now. I would read as many ratings about the various models before making a selection and then I would cross my fingers and hope for the best. If it is possible, try and find a good quality machine that will be dependable over time. Buy a basic machine with only the options that you really need. There will be fewer parts to stop working.

I have Maytag Model MGT8885XS03 Gas Range. I bought it in Nov 2013. The surface burner valves, which regulate the gas flow, are a bad design. One valve got stuck and needed replacement within first 13 month. Then another valve got stuck about a year ago and the third one got stuck today Nov 19. So far I spent $400.00, just for 2 of them and the last one has not being replaced yet. This is a safety issue, because it always happen when the stove is on and will not turn off. I need Maytag to replace my stove because I am afraid this will burn my house down. I bought Maytag because they always advertise as quality product, and now I have to live with the nightmare of burning my house down.

We purchased this washer 8 months ago, and still do not have a working unit. From the very beginning of installing the new washer we had repeated F4 and E1 error codes. A technician was sent out three separate times and they replaced the ACU each time only to have the same error codes recur. This unfortunately took 5 months as each time the ACU part was on backorder. After 3 failed attempts they agreed to replace the washer with a new one. We were dumbfounded when the new unit arrived and we had the same F4 and E1 error codes! They have again replaced the ACU and still we have the same error codes! They are sending yet another ACU but we have little confidence this will work and we are at a painful 8 months with no washer.

I purchased a Maytag dishwasher May 2019 Model# MDB4949SDE3 Serial# F80446835. It has to be one of the worst purchases I have made in a long time. In fact, I wish I could return it and start over with another brand. My glasses come out of the cycle with film and silverware is spotted. I have tried everything from scrubbing and rinsing before I put into the dishwasher, every product on the market, making sure my hot water heater is on high to settings for the longest most powerful cycle and it still continues to disappoint. My warning is DO NOT buy this dishwasher.

I wish I had found this website before I bought my new Maytag washer and dryer from Home Depot on March 7, 2018. I replaced a 30 year old Maytag washer that I should have kept. I wash two loads a week so has not been used that much and now it will not drain. I tried everything, canceled the cycle out, checked the circuit breaker, unplugged it, removed the clothing, bucketed out the excess water, tried the drain and spin cycle, etc. Just will not drain or spin. Repairman is coming next week... Still under first year warranty but if it is not the “fault” of Maytag I was told there will be a $90+ minimum service charge.

Would give them 0 Stars if that was an option. Bought a Maytag washer and dryer in Aug 2021. Washer broke Jan 6 2022. Called Maytag/Whirlpool on Jan 6 as it was still under warranty. They only had one service company in our area to work on the washer. I called them and it took them 10 days to come see what is wrong. Ordered parts. Said it would be 2 weeks. We are now 6 weeks into this with no parts. Called customer service and they said they were notified that their service company needed a part and would take another 21 days to resolve. Talked to a supervisor (Demetrius) who sounded like he did NOT want to be in that position. Offered no solution other than we will just have to wait. Threw a 3 month extension for the warranty on which still does not fix the problem. Sad to see this company go down the tubes as it was once a pretty decent business with solid products. No longer.

Whirlpool who owns Maytag doesnt give a crap. They want their warranty repairmen to pass drug tests but no longer give appliance training. Speed Queen is built in Wisconsin. Who knows who is building the Maytag crap. Another customer had a similar problem with Maytag stove, 1 year old. Whirlpool and Menards said, Sorry, you didnt buy the extended warranty. I have conversations with just about every customer about junk appliances these days. Try to find used 20-year old Maytag for quality. Good luck.

In a way, l feel fortunate and you will read why in a minute. l have been reading Maytag complaints specifically looking to see if what happened to me has happened to others. Apparently, it has. We purchased our Maytag range, model MER57750AB, in 2005. We too have had some repairs done under warranty. Unfortunately, we live in a day and age where technology isnt always our friend. The old appliances that were not electronically driven lasted forever; todays appliances do not. However, when something with potentially serious consequences happens that is not technology related, it rates in the who is the idiot who designed that? category. I am talking about the exploding exterior glass oven doors. Two weeks ago, the oven door handle on our range came unscrewed on one side. I continued using the appliance, planning on repairing it myself when l found the time. (I used to tinker around the garage with my dad when I was little and therefore, I have great repair skills in several areas.) Last week, I was standing in front of the stove when all of a sudden, the glass panel dropped from the door! It landed straight up on the floor and fell forward so the top edge of the glass landed on my toes (the toes that I had surgery on for six hammertoes last November and are still sore!). Needless to say, l was shocked that this happened, and even more so, I was grateful that it did not break or either of my two grandbabies were around at the time. Then, I looked at the glass and saw that it was attached to the door using only eight small pieces of double sided sticky mounting foam. I mean small! As I said before, idiot! Did they not think that the heat from the oven would eventually wear out the ability of the tape to do its job? I gave up reading after I found enough complaints about the mishaps with the glass on the oven doors to realize that there is a definite problem here. I did not see where the glass fell intact, as mine did. Therefore, I am suggesting that the exploding glass panels more than likely gave way, as mine did, and shattered when they hit the floor. Should there be a product recall for this? Absolutely! The question is how does a recall get put in motion? As others have stated, this could have been a horrible disaster had little ones been around. I pray that doesnt happen to anyone.

Product number MMV4205DS. Beautiful, felt solid. Right away when we would put in a time to cook and hit start, the thing would say Open Close Door. First we thought it was moisture, and we would wipe the seal, then lifting the door a little helped. A month might go by and we would repeat this process. I did a little research and found the microwave is known for this. After the warranty was up, it got worse. My husband put a little screwdriver in the door clamp. The plastic guard that held the door shut fell behind the opening. Mulling over whether to call for repairs or buy a new one, we decided the latter. I am buying another one just like it, because the holes in the wall will match for an easy swap and it matches my suite. This time I took out the 3 year warranty, which I will hold Maytag responsible for any more problems. They say if they come and fix it 4 times in a year they will declare it a lemon and replace. I figure this will work in my favor because the microwave lasts a year!

I purchased a Maytag dishwasher less than 2 years ago through Home Depot and did not purchase the extended warranty. The start button has stopped working and is not lighting up. I was referred by Pacific Sales, the appliance sales company at Home Depot, directly to Maytag to schedule repairs which I am willing to pay for. After a nearly hour long call between hold times and conversations I was told the service would be scheduled for Thursday or Friday of this week. As we were scheduling the appointment, I was told the computer for scheduling had gone down and to call the next day to schedule. I called next day and spoke with a customer service rep who said there was no record of my call the day before. I gave her all of my information, then she transferred me to another service person who then had no record of my two prior conversations. After giving my info to the this 3rd customer service representative, I learned that a repair could not be scheduled for over a week. I asked to speak with someone about my complaints and was told there was no one I could speak with but that she would pass on the complaint. I asked for a return call or email to confirm that my complaint was received and she said that I would not get that. I then asked for a free service call because of their poor customer service. This was of course denied. The dishwasher has been fine for the short period of time I have owned it but I wont buy another Maytag because of their poor customer service and because the dishwasher has a problem in less than two years. I am just writing this as a warning for other potential Maytag customers.

Updated on 08/13/2021: Today a repairman who is authorized by Maytag came out. He found the problem, some arm that popped out that is located underneath the washer. He put it back together and said he needs to order the part and it will take 30 more days. Set the washer so that it SHOULD work for a couple of loads. I spent $700 on a washing machine and I have to go to a laundry mat to get my clothes washed. Here is the clincher. The guy left no paperwork, nothing, not even a business card. So I am at the mercy of this repairman (I think he said his name was Jessie). The guy was friendly, quick and knowledgeable, however he told my husband he knew what the problem was going to be, if you knew why didnt you bring the part with you and he said the part is out of stock. Why, is this part unique to Maytag washers? So I am still waiting for my washer to be fixed.Original Review: In December 2020 I purchased a Maytag washer it was delivered in January 2021 and it worked great for the first several months. Then the machine started making noises, clicking noises like it couldnt move through the gears. Then I started noticing that my clothes were not getting cleaned. It was taking an hour to wash the clothes. I told my husband it is not agitating just clicking. We had to stop and start back up the washer just to get the water level high enough for the so called deep water wash. I was finding residue left on my clothes and had to wash them 2 or 3 times to get the clothes clean enough to wear. Sometimes it wont spin enough to empty the water in the tub. It smells almost like wire burning. It has barely been 6 months and I have to have a repairman out. I will review the washer again after it has been fixed or replaced. But as of right now I will never buy another Maytag again.

You would be better off going to the river and washing your clothes with rocks. Piece of junk. Maytag will have you believe that the six inches of water this washer uses to clean a comforter is enough. I would like to know which individuals in the dept of energy thought this water saving feature was a novel idea. What use is a giant washer tub if it doesn’t have enough water. Sorry Maytag, my clothes used to come out clean with your old model, now I spend hours trying to figure out ways to get this washer to clean. I purchased a Maytag dishwasher model MDB7749AWB2 in Dec. 2011 from Home Depot after a major flood destroyed my entire first floor of my house. I had replaced a previous dishwasher only a short time before the flood. This dishwasher is JUNK. I was lucky I bought a five year extended warranty on it which actually gave me 6 years. I needed it. Within a year the control panel went. Then water started spraying out the side of door. Then it sounded like it was crushing ice every time I ran it. Then the control panel went out again. Ice noise came back again. Control panel a 3rd time. It runs for hours as it is.Now the warranty is expired and last time I ran it the start light was blinking a few hours later. We were having high winds on and off so I thought maybe the power went on and off and that’s why it was blinking. Today I turned it on and after about 45 minutes I realized I didn’t hear it running anymore so I got up and looked and sure enough it wasn’t on. Normally the clean light is lit when done. I opened the dishwasher to see it filled with water still. I tried to hit cancel/drain but nothing works yet again. Wonderful news for a single mom that can’t afford to fix this over and over! Maytag is the worse company. Their dishwashers are horrible and they should be doing something about this as I’m not the only one that has had this issue. Home Depot was just as useless. Will NEVER buy again.

I had no issues with my washer. The best thing I ever did was stop using Sabrina softener in it and made the switch to vinegar. The worst thing I ever did was think that paying $900+ for a nice washer would get me more than a year! What a joke! I started noticing small leaks when my hardwood floors started lifting and once my husband looked into this, we realized there is no seal around the top of the drum. So there is no barrier between the drum and your floors basically. Then one day we had a flood. As we watched the cycle run, we noticed that when the water was filling into the bleach and fabric softener compartments it was coming in at such a high rate, it was spilling over the sides down to the floor. So we went to the internet and found a few complaints about this, but no answers. Thankfully we found one guy who had the exact same problem and even had pictures that matched ours. Luckily a real appliance tech answered him and he couldnt even figure it out but took a guess at what I might be: the water inlet valve. But that was just a guess. So we called around to find the part and talked with a few sales persons. One was so nice to even ask a technician standing in line. And he said that there was no way this could be it. But then we decided to take a gamble. We also noticed that both compartments were filling up at the same time, but the bleach should fill during the wash cycle and the fabric softener during the rinse cycle. So it was either the $104 water inlet valve. Or the $200+ circuit board. These are my options after already spending $900+.. So we went with the valve and thank goodness it worked!!!! It is so disappointing that after a short time, this washer broke and cause more damage to my floors. It is an awful design. I bought myself the nicest front loaders for my first house. When that broke 7 years later, I bought this washer because I liked the no agitator design without the smell of a front loader. Now when this one breaks again, Im not buying another HE machine. The majority of people I talked with today said that these HE machines are breaking down faster and faster as the get better and better. I am so beyond disappointed, angry and in shock that this washer failed in less than a year and a half time. My hope is that this review will give the answers we couldnt find without paying an arm and a leg. Is this what passes for quality these days???

I purchased this dishwasher from Sears in July of 2013. Barely 3 years ago. The last few months the controls have been acting odd. The control lock would automatically just turn on at odd times. Yesterday when I hit normal cycle it went to a different cycle and had many other options lit. It would not start. Finally it went dark, no lights, no nothing. I see many people have had these types of issues with this type of Maytag dishwasher. Disappointing. A dishwasher should last longer than 3 years. I bought 4 appliances - stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. Just after 1 year, our dishwasher stopped working. Serviceman said it was the motherboard. I had to talk with a supervisor in customer service to get it covered and found that it was only a switch that was bad. Next, our ice maker overflowed with water, causing damage to our new hardwood floor. Again, I had to talk with a supervisor to get this covered and I did not file a claim for the floor. Then, our stove shut down. Repairman found that a wire was shoved into the top box, causing them to be exposed and shorting out the system. Now 2 years and 4 months, our microwave is not heating and I have to call for service. This was a brand-new kitchen that was remodeled and all appliances were new.I am very disgusted with Maytag products and their attitude of We are sorry, but there is nothing we can do as the warranty has expired. I have a Maytag washing machine for close to 20 years, so when it was time to replace it, I bought another Maytag: the Bravos. I read reviews, and most negative ones complained that it used too little water, twisted clothes, and was noisy. But I wanted an HE and can tolerate noise just fine. What I cannot tolerate is the fact that -- less than 2 years after purchase -- the control panel is malfunctioning, and it will cost $500 to repair. Id rather buy a new washing machine than throw good money after bad on this one. Bye-bye, Maytag.

I bought the matching Bravos washer and dryer 4 years ago. I always bought
I bought the matching Bravos washer and dryer 4 years ago. I always bought Kenmore appliances but decided, based on the then reviews, that I would upgrade to Maytag. Biggest mistake I have made! I am a very tolerant person always looking for the best in anything. But I have to say, I hate both the washer and dryer. My clothes are faded, they shrink in the dryer even on delicate. I really cant say anything good about them. Today I washed 2 twin sheets, one king top sheet, and one very thin blanket. When I opened the washer, one twin sheet was on top and not even wet. So now I get to run another load and have to wait to remake my bed. When I have washed rugs on bulky, they are filled with soap when finished. Half the time, it doesnt spin out the water and I run a second and third spin cycle on a variety of items. I avoid doing laundry because it is so frustrating. I am retired so I cant afford to replace them. I just dont want anyone else to suffer the same frustrations!
