On the first day, first time, the washer wrinkled clothes so bad I could not get them out. I talked to Home Depot people and they said I must lay clothes around tub like pictured in the book. I did that and they were still wrinkled. I called the repairman who said nothing was wrong with the washer. I talked to Home Depot; they did not have the answer. I called the repairman and he checked it out. He found nothing wrong. He did watch it washing and said he had never seen a washer tangle and twist clothes like this before, called Maytag. They said that I was loading clothes wrong, and nothing was wrong with the washer. They would not give me a number to call above them. This washer is bad. Maytag has known it for 4 years and done nothing about it. Ive been ripped off.

Control panel is defective on my Maytag dishwasher. Found a phone number that was created to deal with this problem. I only had to hold for a few minutes but the first person I spoke to was rude and unhelpful so I asked to speak to someone else. When another agent came on the line I told her that only the normal and rinse button light up but do nothing when pressed. She arranged for a repairman to come to my house and determine if my control panel is defective at their cost. When he arrived he asked me what the problem was and I said, The touch pad control panel is not working. He stated, Your control panel needs to be replaced. I have to order the part and come back to fix it. He was there for about five minutes and he never laid a finger on the dishwasher. When I asked if the control panel design has been fixed he said, No, you will probably have to replace it again. There is a video on the internet that shows how to seal the electronics with silicone. The repairman said that they cannot seal the electronics unless Whirlpool provides a kit to do it. I guess the Maytag repairmen may have to come out of retirement. My husband will seal ours after it is replaced so we hopefully dont have to deal with this problem again. So now I am waiting to see if he returns in a reasonable time frame and gets my dishwasher going. There is a class action suit about this issue filed in 2013 about this defect.Updated on 09/23/2015: A repairman came to my home on August 20, 2015, at Whirlpools cost, and he determined my touch pad did not work. He informed me that Maytag would provide the part, free of charge, but it would cost me 85.00 for them to come back and install it in 2-3 days. As of today I am still waiting for the part to come in, apparently due to high demand Maytag was out of touch pads, which were out of stock. No idea of when that would be, the repairmans company said, dont call us, we will call you when the part arrives. So I began to look for the part myself, found a couple on an auction site, but most companies that sold parts were on backorder. Until I found a company that said their inventory was out of stock but they had five, stashed in the back. The price of 105.00 was not that much more than the 85.00 cost for the service call. Got it in two (2) days, installed (in about five minutes), sealed by my husband and I loaded it and washed my dishes. I was so overcome with relief, tears came to my eyes and I almost fell out. I give five star to the fella that had the part stashed until I needed it.The Maytag repairman is still waiting for the part so he can fix my dishwasher.

Purchased our Maytag in October 2009. From the beginning it would make loud, popping noises occasionally but seemed to work just fine. At the time of purchase, we opted to buy the 5 year extended warranty for $125.00 (just in case). Here we are at seven months after that warranty is no longer any good and the freezer leaks all over the floor and we have to keep a towel at the bottom to soak it up.This morning I wake up to the panel being completely out and fridge is not running at all!!! We thought when we purchased our Maytag that we were buying the best of the best... not even close! We just paid for an expensive piece of junk! Who has the extra money just lying around to go buy a new fridge? Not us! This is unacceptable!!! I have read other reviews that sound pretty much exact to our experience with this refrigerator. I hope somehow they can and will be held responsible for putting this product on the market knowing full well it is an over-priced piece of junk.

I bought a Bravo washer 4 years ago from Home Depot. The spin cycle is stuck on high speed and sounds like a jet plane. Repair man came and said don’t bother to fix it because the bearing is gone. The machine cost close to $900. The repair man charged over $100. We are two retired senior citizens who dont do lots of laundry. I have read numerous complaints about the Bravo washer very similar to ours. Elder abuse should protect us from Maytag’s thievery and lack of help in repairs and replacement. A class action should be in place to address the Maytag Bravos manufacturing defects. There should be a recall and some type of reimbursement on this product . Please help us with this unjust situation.

Bought a Maytag Bravos washer 21/2 years ago... already have to buy a new washer... not a Maytag!! It started with the ul message coming on. Never could do anything to get it to go off.... then started leaking water around the bottom... bearings went out... costs more to fix than buying a new washer which is what I DID. Not a Maytag.... thought Maytags were a great product. Believe me their repairmen are always busy, not just sitting around like in their commercial.... Never buy a Maytag appliance again.

I purchased this set 2/15/2014 and have never been more disappointed with a product! The washer is top loading high efficiency and there is NO water level for different sizes of loads. If I add two small items or a load of towels the water level is the same and the larger loads do not get clean, I can only run very small loads of clothes and sometimes even those do not get cleaned. I have seen soap on some items because there was not enough water to rinse it all out - and I measure the soap very carefully. Additionally, when using bleach for whites it stays in the washer even after running a second rinse with the tub empty to clean it out. I have ruined a lot of items due to bleach stains. And shortly after getting the washer something came loose and it rattles every time it spins making it very noisy. I am seriously considering selling this set with a huge loss and purchasing another washer so that I will not ruin anymore clothes and to be sure my clothes get cleaned. I have had the set for 8 months and will never recommend this product to anyone. The dryer has its issue as well. It shuts off before the clothes are dry every time I try to dry a load and sometimes 5 minutes or less after I start it. I have to use the timer all the time because the auto settings shut off while the clothes are wet. Additionally, I have to run most loads for 2-3 cycles to get the clothes dry. My reliable old dryer of almost 20 years dried my clothes perfectly with the auto time settings and was a far superior dryer than this one.

We purchased a Maytag Bravos X washer 2 years ago. Theres not enough water in there, and the clothes get so tangled that Ive had holes in them. Ive had technicians come out several times and they just say that its the water saving feature of the washer. I put it on the wrinkle control setting and the clothes come out ridiculously wrinkled. All of these problems are due to the water saving feature. I absolutely hate this washer and would never recommend it. I want my old washer back with the agitator and enough water in there to actually wash clothes.

Mine is the same sad story as all the others. Bought our Maytag dishwasher in 2013 (model MDB7749) and 15 months later, the control panel went out. We have contacted Maytag and they basically told us it could be our fault it doesnt work, so they wont fix it. Now we have learned that this is an issue that A LOT of people are having. We called their special number for this problem and were told they still wouldnt fix it since we called BEFORE having it repaired. So my question is, how is this legal and why arent they recalling this product? I know that there was a class action lawsuit against Maytag for this problem. Why dont we hold them accountable as well? This is bad business and we shouldnt allow them to take advantage of hard working people like this.

My washer is new, out of warranty, and about 2 and a half years old. All of a sudden, with no warning or previous issues, the computer board in the washing machine malfunctioned which caused a humming noise, it would not cycle into the next wash phase, the time would go up instead of down, I could not change cycles, and when I would push the power button there would be a delay of power coming on. I unplugged and called my local appliance repair and he said he sees problems with this model regularly, although not always the same issues. Before purchasing I scoured the internet for reviews on different units to make sure I didnt get a lemon. I think Maytag saw the error of their ways quickly and stopped making these before people caught on. This model is no longer being made. I like matching units, so it meant either shell out $500 for replacing the board, or replacing both the washer and the dryer that still works, which would be about $1200 or more for a new set. I chose the least expensive route for now. Not that it matters where I bought mine, but Home Depot and it was on clearance so it was a good price. I have now made up for that difference in repairs.

Bought mdb7609aww2 dishwasher in 2010. Now I cant use it as it will not start even though the panel lights of my selected wash cycle work. I looked up on internet how to reset it, but I only get a half cycle. Called customer service and for $269, I can get it fixed and get a one-year warranty. Wow, what a deal. Might as well get a new dishwasher. Joining the lawsuit. It is about time corporations take responsibility for defective merchandise, not make money to correct their mistakes by charging customers for overpriced parts and stupid worthless warranties. A pox on them.

Read MANY complaints about these units leaking water onto the floor underneath. This is accompanied by a sheet of ice forming on the bottom of the freezer under the main drawer. Good money says the cause is a plugged drain tube. I had a Subzero that suffered a similar problem. The factory installed drain tube was a flexible coil type and food particles would be easily caught, compromising water flow - leading to an ice plug and eventual evaporator ice-over. I replaced the factory tube with 1/4-inch rubber fuel line and the problem went away for good. With the Maytag units, if memory serves, access to the drain tube is from the back of the unit. You have to remove an access panel to get to it. There is typically a small removable rubber restrictor cap on the bottom of the tube; this is the most likely spot for a clog to form. Due to its design, IMO, clogging and ice-over will probably be a periodic thing. If you are really handy, you can do this maintenance thing yourself.

If the control panel light on your Ice2O refrigerator starts flashing you will learn about the Non-Customer Service of Maytag. The problem is the High Voltage Control Board. Maytag has been aware of this defective part since 2007. At one time Maytag was fixing these at no cost to the customer via a recall. Then conveniently in 2011 the Japanese tsunami wiped out the only plant in the universe that manufactures the part. Now out of the goodness of Maytag’s corporate heart they offer the customer $300 off of a $2300 replacement (Oh, I am so grateful). It is time for Maytag (Whirlpool) to accept responsibility for a defective product and recall this refrigerator with a replacement. In the meantime if you have this problem, my advice is to go out a buy a non-Maytag/Whirlpool product since Maytag/Whirlpool cannot be trusted to stand behind their products. Please share this post with family and friends to prevent others from experiencing Non-Customer Service.

I bought a Maytag dishwasher just 15 months ago. Worked fine for the first 12 months. Then literally, a few short weeks after the warranty expired, the buttons on the control panel started acting up. The normal button, when pushed, would light up the delay hours. The light cycle would make the rinse only come to life. It was beyond frustrating. My husband would unplug it to reset it and that worked for two weeks but now, nothing. It wont work at all. Im FURIOUS, considering we spent $450 on this thing and now its useless. I had a Kitchen-Aid that I loved but due to cost, decided to get this hunk of junk. I learned my lesson..Maytag, you should be ashamed you make such horrible products.

I bought this range (Gemini Double gas range) in 2010 but was not installed
I bought this range (Gemini Double gas range) in 2010 but was not installed in my house until 2011 due to time delays in kitchen re-model. I paid $1310.00. It was serviced 3 times once under warranty. About a year ago the igniter went in one of the ovens for the second time and one of the stove burners wouldnt light. Since the other oven and 3 other burners worked we didnt call for repair, then a second burner stopped working and we called our Maytag dealer. 2 different service techs came one with more experience and both said the same thing the stove wasnt worth fixing due to cost of parts. One of the problems was the screws in the burners couldnt be removed due to rust and deterioration of the screws. They would break and cost other components also to be needed. So after 7 years of use and already having repairs done I have to buy a new stove. It will not be a Maytag. I also bought a top of the line Maytag dishwasher and one month past the 5 year warranty the electronic panel burned out. After calling Maytag and complaining they did agree to pay for the part close to $300 but I still paid for labor. When I looked at reviews for the oven before purchasing they werent too good but wanted a double oven at the time and always had good luck with Maytag in the past. I thought buying a higher priced model would be better quality. Not so. After calling Maytag today the best they could offer was to buy an extended warranty for $380, I declined. My advice - Listen to the reviews. The Maytag repairman isnt sitting around idly anymore!

I am fairly happy with this ranges performance. I do have a couple of issues on the design. I would like to be able to simmer at a lower temp on a front burner, as I use a large stock pot and a pressure canner occasionally. The smaller BTU burners are on the back and the large pots do not fit over them. I havent noticed any problems with the upper ovens performance...seems to do what I ask it to, including the broiler. I have not tried the lower oven or the convection feature at all yet. Nor have I had to use the self-cleaning feature, yet...almost afraid to after reading other peoples nightmares, though. My biggest concern is the lack of safety with the knobs on the front of the stove top. Several times, the gas has been turned on by my cat simply walking across the front of the stove and stepping on a knob. This allows gas to leak until I notice. It happened again early this morning just before 4:00 am. I was awakened by a smell, which I thought was a dead mouse somewhere (we live in the country in a 100 year old house - mice do get in, thus the cats). I searched the whole house, looking for a dead mouse, until I finally walked into the kitchen and heard the hissing from the stove. Im glad I didnt try to light a candle while I was still thinking dead mouse! After turning off the gas and removing all of the knobs, I opened all the windows to let the house air out. I SHOULD NOT have to remove the knobs every time my stove is not being used! You do have to depress the knobs slightly to ignite the burners, but its too easy. Obviously, the simple act of a little cat putting its paw on the knob is enough to open the gas. This is a serious flaw that could kill someone! Something needs to be done to correct this before someone is killed or a house full of propane or natural gas is ignited and explodes!!! I will be reporting this to Maytag and hope that they will voluntarily issue a recall to have this problem fixed...Wish me luck.

I purchased a Maytag dishwasher on Nov. 5, 2013 from Freds Appliance. I had to have the control panel fixed twice and it failed again in June 1916. My stemware had a film on it and I either had to wash it by hand or rinse it in hot water and dry by hand. Thus I felt like how could my other dishes not have this film on them even though I faithfully used Finish. I have 2 daughters who live within a half mile of me and they did not have this trouble with their dishwashers. I always felt Maytag was a top brand, but I replaced my 3 year old Maytag with a Whirlpool that my daughter and her family of 4 used for 19 years. Guess what... my glasses come out sparkling without using Finish and they wash in half the time and are dry!

Why is no one doing anything about the crappy product that Maytag is puttin
Why is no one doing anything about the crappy product that Maytag is putting out. I am a single mom of 4 and I had to purchase a new refrigerator about 3 years ago. Spent a lot of money on this Maytag, approx. $1400 and it is now useless. I had nothing but issues with it from the time I got it. The bottom freezer kept icing up and then leaking all over my kitchen floor. I had to call a repair guy out, who charged arm and a leg and said it was fixed and 3 months later it was doing the same thing. Since I could not afford to pay ridiculous amount of money to repair it again (although I question what they said they fixed), I had to chop up the ice each month and take huge pieces outside and i had to keep towels always at the bottom of my fridge (yes very attractive) but it ruined my floor and carpet. Now all of a sudden the piece of junk just shut off and stopped working and keeps making this popping noise. Lights went out in front panel. So I had to call a service guy out again but this time I called an independent local guy that is not gonna rape you in charges like Maytag does and he told me to look into this that he has heard so many complaints that the front board with control button has been known to blow out the back circuit board, which is what happened. He told me that parts are MDs, so he would have to get another manufacturer and he heard that even with replacing both of them, it has been known to not work and Maytag takes NO responsibility at all for any of this. THIS IS WRONG. I cant afford to spend around $800 to now fix this or another $1,400 to buy a new one. So I am without a refrigerator. What a nightmare. MAYTAG, TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR CRAPPY PRODUCT. We are hard working people that spend our money and expect a good product. I also have an oven I bought and I can tell you it is a piece of crap too. I swear at it all of the time, as it takes forever to cook anything and the outside that is supposed to be stainless steel is all yoked up. It is like a tin can, looks horrible. I will never ever buy another Maytag product and I hope that ConsumerAffairs steps in and does something about this.

I have a basic Maytag dishwasher circa 2012. Not sure of the model number. It works well, no fancy features but everything you really need is there. My only real complaint is that the heat dry cycle always seems to leave the dishes a little wet, but thats common enough for dishwashers. It cleans nicely and hasnt had any issues or breaks in 3+ years. Basic. Three wash cycles (light, normal, heavy); Extra rinse option, extra hot option, and heat dry or eco-dry (i.e. no dry). Nice big rinse aid dispenser. Its not that roomy inside. Id say the size is average. It looks nice - its white and unobtrusive. It works really well with Cascade dish pods. The bottom rack is kind of a pain if your plates are curved more than usual.

Our 26 month old Maytag fridge (Model MFF2258VEM8) was the french door freezer on bottom modern style fridge. The freezer stopped working. Maytag Top Loading Washer-We bought this machine a little over a year ago and it is one of the worst products weve ever purchased. More often than not clothes barely get wet and then wad up into a twisted mess which stops the machine. Ive had to restart a load over and over. And, the clothes are not as clean as they were from our former Maytag washer which lasted 14 years. The new washer has to be cleaned at least once a month or it smells. We purchased this washer from HHGregg and they are no longer in business or I would complain to them about selling faulty products. I dont know why the manufacturer decided to remove the agitator from new models. What a mistake! We have decided to get rid of this washer and buy another brand. No more Maytag (or Whirlpool) products... ever!

I purchased the Maytag Bravos 400 series top load washer about 4 years ago. Paid over $1000 for it, on sale. Its bearings started grinding within four years and the seal is gone which has resulted in water leaking out through the bottom of the machine. VERY expensive to repair and ultimately not worth it. Pretty disappointed that Maytag products reliable for such a short period of time and must then be kicked to the curb. NOT a quality product.

Failed after only 13 months with light use. I have a Whirlpool extended warranty which I had to fight to get them to honor. Then someone came to fix my washer and needed part was ordered, but part isnt available and company wont tell me when it will be. I have received 6 part availability dates so far. Whirlpool wont help. Over two months now without a washer. Ive asked them to replace machine or give me my money back, but they refused. The Whirlpool Extended Warranty group doesnt answer their phones, was put on hold for a long period.

Because of the power of advertising, we replaced every appliance in our home in 2005 with Maytags. Since then, weve had minor problems with the stove and dryer, many problems with the dishwasher and washing machine, and complete failure of two Maytag microwaves, the last one was only two years old. The washing machine failures resulted in major flood damage two separate times due to two separate failures. Our refrigerator, model MBB2256GEW, has yet to let us down, however, since new it makes loud snapping noises that wake us up at night. It sounds like someone banging two large sticks together. Fortunately, I can repair most of these issues when they arise, but Id much rather get some rest like the Maytag repair man...

Purchased the very top of the line Maytag Washer and dryer.. Top loader MVWB955FC1 washer. I got this huge washer and dryer because I was tired of paying $20 to have my Cal King comforter laundered. Bad idea.. Yes the comforter fits easily in the drum of the washer but it does not even come close to clean.. Why no agitator..? It leaves soap all over it in addition to the dirty laundry smell.. The dryer is better but it takes at least 3 cycles of taking it out and un-wadding it to get it all the way dry. Now my wife just hangs it on the line.It has been just over 3 years Feb 2017 since I bought both units from HH Gregg.. Now the top of the washer around the soap dispensing orifice has rust bubbling up worse than my 25 year old unit I put by the curb.. Maytag support is no help.. “Sorry rust is normal and it your unit is out of warranty”. I asked If this would have been covered under warranty.. NO!.. Not unless you report it within 30 days.. We only use it once or twice a week.. What terrible service..

February 2011, I purchased a washer from Lowes and started having problems with the washer leaking and skipping cycles on the first week. Lowes exchanged the washer end of first week. The new washer started with not adding water in wash cycles. The repairmen sent by Maytag could not find any problem with the washer. The washer worked off and on for months with problems. Cycles with bleach added worked fine, but 3 or 4 loads later with no bleach having been added, it would produce bleach-stained clothes. The repairman came out again and could find the cause for skipping cycles, but suggested I run clean cycle every time I use bleach. It defeats the purpose of purchasing an HE water-efficient washer. The third repairman sat and watched the unit run a load and then he said I know what is wrong. He took the washer control panel apart and found the wire harness was not properly connected from tub to control panel. I have not found what causes bleach stains 3 loads after the bleach was put in the washer. I will not recommend this unit to anyone because of manufacturing problems with harness assembly.

Maytag is the brand I had for 18 years and never had a problem with the washer or dryer in all that time. So when my dryer died I decided to get a new set of Maytag washer and dryer. I picked the set together and they dont have a lot of bells and whistles, simple to use and the washer is an HE. Cost was about $900 for the pair. I bought the washer and dryer in May of 2015. Models are simple to use. I have not had any problems and quite pleased with the work they do.I like to stick with a brand if it has served me well. Energy costs need to be low and I look for sales. Capacity is something I do not need a lot of, since it is just two I am washing for. Good quality is what I look for. I have not ever had paint chipping or rusting. Never had socks missing or a bad result with cleaning or drying. The washer has a cleaning cycle and the dryer is very easy to clean, the lint filter, and I get great results with no static when I take clothes out of the dryer.

Maytag Bravos MVWB725BW - Purchased this washer last year and have been very unhappy with the way it washes. It is extremely harsh in the way the agitator moves the clothes. Because it has a low water level the clothes take quite a beating in the washing process. This is confirmed when I remove the clothes from the dryer and proceed to clean the lint filter. The filter is constantly full of lint, even after drying clothes that have been washed numerous times before. Additionally, the clothes, even though being put in evenly, end up bunching together.

Our Maytag Bravo washer provided so little water, that our clothes were rarely clean. My husbands jeans gradually developed stains around the knees that never came out, and his white underwear & socks didnt come clean either. After about 3 years, the spin cycle developed a loud sound, like a jet taking off, which was so loud and forceful, it sounded like it was literally going to spin out of the machine. We got rid of the Maytag Bravo after 6-7 years, and Darryls jeans and underwear were clean after two washings. All heavy items, such as blankets, have to be watched over because they always get out of balance several times a wash. We kept the Maytag Bravo, although it wasnt great, and didnt dry clothes completely. These are not machines that you can put clothes in, and just walk away. You have to babysit your laundry.

I have a stainless steel dishwasher, model MDBH985AWS10. Its about 5 years old. The control panel works intermittently -- Ive replaced and ruled out the door latch -- now Ive got the problem narrowed down to either the control panel or the circuit board. Ive read about this diagnostic cycle I could run to try to help diagnose the problem. I emailed Maytag for the code and waited a week and didnt get a response.I called them today and they said they cant give me the code--they only give that to their technicians. My dishwasher is not brand new, but I paid good money for it, and Id prefer to not have to guess what to buy when Im trying to repair it. Each of these parts costs about $150. Im not sure what the policy is for other dishwasher manufacturers, but for the next washer I buy, Ill find a company that either 1) has more reliable products or 2) at least tries to help the customer repair his own equipment.

A refrigerator has to keep your food at constant temperature. The first Maytag refrigerator I purchased from Home Depot could not get cold. I mean the refrigerator never got below 65 degrees. I called Maytag and they played dumb. Just wait weeks for a repairman to check a brand new product that is not working. Home Depot replaced it in few days with another refrigerator of the same model. It runs but doesnt get really cold (it only has a fan in the freezer and the air comes down from the freezer to cool the refrigerator). I live with it because all you will get out of Maytag/Whirlpool is to turn the dial to a colder temp. A little over a year passes and the fan in the freezer just stops running. I called a local certified service person. He looks at the fan and says that its running but barely. I had to replace the motor at cost with labor of around 200 dollars. I kept the motor. Turns out the motor is made by Panasonic. The current replacement motor is made in Mexico. Now the refrigerator runs cold. Since I had two of these refrigerators that failed to get/stay cold, I think they got a bad batch of motors. Maytag response was to refuse to pay a dime, it is outside of the warranty - even though I had called about the refrigerator not getting real cold on the second refrigerator. So basically I lived with food being kept at a way too high of temp causing spoilage for a year and Maytag/Whirlpool could care less, they are only worried about their bottom line. That is not the only problem with their product. The drain pan grows a mold that looks like pudding. The only way to clean it is to pull the refrigerator out, take off the motor area cover (which is really cheap cardboard) and clean it out with a rag. There is no way to remove the pan. The compressor is mounted so low that it heats up the floor. I have concrete floors thus I have no fire risk but if you have wood floors, I would check the heat level. It is nearly impossible to clean the dust off the fins on the refrigerator coolant lines. The back of the freezer door shelves are metal and very sharp on the back. Thus if you stick your hand in to pick something up, you will get a nasty cut.I have owned only Maytag, Whirlpool and Amana products my entire life. I will never purchase their products again. They may pretend that you are buying an American product (they use the American flag) but this product is nothing but OEM garbage made by the lowest bidder. They try to sell you an extended warranty for around 300 bucks for an addition 3 years. I figured if the fridge went bad after 3 years, I would just buy a new one. I never expected a motor to fail less than a year (I would say it started going bad about 6 months into ownership as started making ice at a lower rate). Maytag refuses to stand behind their products. When I told them I had the motor that failed, they had no interest in even looking at it. Do not waste your money on their products. I also own a Maytag washer that is the worst washer I have ever owned.

It is a badly designed unit which should have a latch instead of just pulling out.I am so disappointed and will think twice before buying Maytag. Updated on 02/13/2021: Maytag stove purchased 15 years ago for about $500. Replaced mother board about 5 years ago which wasnt cheap, but otherwise, stove has performed with no problems and still looks and behaves like a new stove.Original review: Our 6-7 year old well cared for Maytag range oven recently stopped working. After a service call for diagnostics, it was determined the electronic module controlling the clock and all oven functions was dead. We were told by the Maytag service tech the module cost was 300$. That cost plus labor for less than an hour, plus the 60$ diagnostic visit came to almost 500$ which is close to cost of a new stove. The technician answered yes to my question, Do you replace a lot of these? He also said the cause may be power fluctuations making me think that surely there is a way to prevent this kind of failure. So, since the price seemed exorbitant, I wrote Maytag to inquire about causation/prevention, etc. I received a fairly prompt and polite reply with totally no explanation. I wrote another email with relatively the same results. I dont recommend buying an electronically controlled Maytag stove.

We bought this Maytag Bravos top loading washer 2 years ago after having bad luck with a front loading Maytag. Maytag was always the top brand to buy so I thought it was the style washer but now I believe Maytag has failed to keep their standard of quality high. My clothes come out of the washer almost dry and full of lint. Even though I use the HE wash soap, it does rinse out of the clothes. Dark clothes come out with a noticeable scum so I suppose the lighter clothes do, as well, I just cant see it. I sometimes have to wet the clothes down to get them clean and I always have to double rinse them which defeats the whole economy issue. We purchased our home in late 2010 and was excited about our HE front-load washer (and dryer). Immediately, we noticed mold on the rubber boot, and the smell was horrible. We ran the washer with Affresh several times and left the door to open when not in use, and that seemed to help. Then most recently, the washers been shutting off mid-cycle through normal wash setting. I used to pound the washer out of frustration, and that seemed to get the machine working, but now it doesnt work at all. We had a repairman come out, and he charged us $94 to basically remove debris from the drain hose, and he told us that if the washer fails again, wed be looking at an expensive repair cost pertaining to the central control unit. We had a second repairman come out and replace the central control unit. It worked while he was here, but now its messing up again, shutting down mid-cycle. I have to unplug the washer for hours, replug, put it on rapid wash cycle (and hope it doesnt fail), and if it fails, then unplug, wait, put it on spin cycle... Its aggravating, and were looking at $300 to $400 in repair costs. Our repair man says front loaders are a nightmare (and he still has his non-HE washer from the 80s, and its still working). Our washer is Maytag Epic Z, model number MHWZ600TE00. Avoid front loaders, and definitely Maytag or Whirlpool front loaders. Well need to shop around for a new washer, an old-fashioned top loader this time.

Same thing as everyone else. The motherboard/control board, the main face of the washer went out and this part isnt covered on an $800 commercial washer after only 3 years of residential use on a commercial washer. Menards refused to swap it out, saying this is Maytags issue. Maytag boasts their 10 year warranty and labels it right on the motherboard as a 10 year warranty, but the motherboard isnt covered? If the main computer isnt covered, What is covered? Just screws? I called Menards and got nowhere. Called Maytag and held for an hour then had to hang up so I can work. The warranty is extremely misleading and is the reason we bought this particular washer, because it says 10 year parts warranty right there, but Maytag conveniently doesnt consider the main control board a part.

We purchased washer at Sears 6 years ago. Have had same issues for 5 or more years. Sears has been out to check it 6 to 7 times! They clean it out, tell me to use (expensive) Affresh tablets monthly, problem solved but it never is! When we run our washer and walk in laundry room it smells like a sewer. If we open lid its even worse. I use Norwex all naturally, biodegradable laundry detergent. There is nothing Ive done to create this smell. Its a manufactured problem that probably relates to ALL the other issues with this crappie washer that Maytag will do nothing about. Stain your clothes in any way, its there forever unless you hand wash it first. To get it to work at all, each time I have to start the wash cycle (I leave the soap out just to save it for the next start), let the drum fill with water, pause it, get all the clothes wet, then cancel the cycle. After it drains and the machine is off and full of wet clothes, then start it all over again adding soap this time. On the second try, set at deep cycle, it will add enough water to cover the clothes - Im guessing because it senses more clothes because the clothes are now wet from the first, cancelled cycle. During the wash cycle, Ill open the lid and robustly move everything around, almost hand washing. #Handy. The dryer is fine, Im keeping it. The washer, cant return it - been three months of this frustration (kept believing it was me, reset it multiple times, change the settings, tried everything). Im buying a new one and throwing this junk out. $700 lesson.

I purchased a new Maytag dishwasher (model #MDB4651awb3) for $300, in December of 2009. Seven months later, the dishwasher refused to start. Some lights on the front panel would remain on, while others would not respond. The Maytag repairman made a house call and replaced the front control panel, and vent. After the repair, the dishwasher worked fine for nine months. Then, the same thing happened again. It refused to start with the same front panel light problem. I called Maytag, and since the machine was now past the one year warranty, they wanted $275 for an additional 1 year warranty, to repair the machine. Since I can buy a similar new machine for $25 more, and felt this was now an ongoing problem, (it would be the third panel in less than two years). I expected Maytag to offer more to take care of their lemon problem. Since they refused to reconcile the situation, they obviously no longer stand by their machines. I will no longer buy Maytag/ Whirlpool machines, and do not recommend them.

We purchased our washer and dryer set in December of 2010 and had it for about 2 years with the extended warranty...needless to say around 1 1/2 - 2 years the metal around our bleach dispenser started rusting. Maytag considers this cosmetic! I am shocked to think that its cosmetic...on the outside of the washer yes, but on the inside no! It is faulty on Maytags part. I have spoken with Maytag and they tell me if it doesnt happen within the first 30 days there is nothing they can do. So I will tell anyone and everyone what was said to me via Maytags own repairman, Buy cheaper washers as NO ONE offers an extended warranty on the inside of the washer rusting. Whirlpool is the owner of Maytag now so beware of Whirlpool as well. Check out the warranties and make sure you will be covered longer than 30 days for rusting on any washer you intend on purchasing. We learned the hard way and well....we will be buying a cheap washer like the repairman suggested when this one goes out.

Purchased 4-2010, used maybe once a week, it stopped working 11-2013. They sent someone out to replace the faulty recall, which the recall says there is an electrical wiring failure that can cause a fire, so they replaced part. It did nothing, the dishwasher still would not wash, just fill up with water and drain, but would never go into wash, so we call and argue. First girl said that recall has been known to burn out the control panel so we have to pay for a service person to come out and diagnose it, if that is it, they will pay to repair it. Then when he does diagnose it, we call back, the next person says no, the recall has nothing to do with the control panel, that it is just a bracket that holds up the heating element... REALLY. Well then the Consumer Protection Agency has the wrong info because I just looked on there and the recall says, Electrical failure with the heating element that is not related to a bracket, I can read and I am not stupid, so we were out the $50 service call, so we finally got them to agree and pay for the part, but we would have to pay to put it on...HHHHHH NO, I am not spending another dime on service calls, I could spend the same amount and go and get a scratch and dent dishwasher for the same or just a little more. We are calling back tomorrow to argue more with them, then I am emailing the local TV station that handles these kind of issues. MAYTAG is a piece of nothing, I will never buy this or anything with their name on it again....

Maytag Bravo XL top load water saver - Purchased this two years ago. This is the worst washer I have spent my hard earned money on. It has ripped clothes, always leaves a lint and soap film on the cloths. We have to re-rinse two to three times especially on black and brown dark clothes. I have raised 7 kids. In the past Maytag has always been the best. I spent a bundle for the matching set and we have to suck it up and buy another set. We wouldnt feel right selling this set to anyone knowing the faulty sales pitch we were mislead into buying this brand. Purchased from Sears. Sears chose not to offer any help in replacing with a different brand.

Two years ago I purchased a Maytag commercial technology top-load washer. It only two options for water level, either deep water or Auto sensor. Because I live alone I have very small amounts of clothing to wash at a time. Therefore I was excited about the auto sense to save water. However when using the auto sensor theres such a small amount of water in the drum it does not cover the clothes being washed and often I have items of clothing come out of the wash cycle and rinse cycle with dry spots on them yet. The clothes dont get clean and begin to smell stale shortly after theyve been washed. I contacted the business from which I purchased the machine and they were not able nor willing to do anything about my dissatisfaction. This is the worst Appliance I have ever purchased in my 64 years hows life. I hate this washer. It is totally ineffective. And now Im stuck with it and dirty clothes.

I wished I researched more before I purchased, but like most people, I believed in the reputation of Maytag. Like many others - my control panel started to go out 19 months after install: Had my first event with the washer; it would not allow me to select normal wash. A high-end machine shouldnt have electrical connection problems within 19 months, just 7 months after the warranty expires. When the repairman pulled apart our machine, he found a similarly burned looking touchpad ribbon cable, that was burned in exactly the same position as the photos shown on Maytags website under the review referred to. Maytag/Whirlpool has set up a special phone number to deal with this problem: I dialed 1-866-931-7384... Been on hold for over an hour Of course - NO answer! Ill try later but I am very angry that this has been a known issue BEFORE I purchased mine at Home Depot. What a piece of junk. This is the last Maytag Ill ever buy again. The service is horrible, the product is junk.

First, the machine is a wrinkle monster no matter what I try. I wash my clothes on delicate cycle to keep the colors longer and so my clothes last longer. This has never been a problem with previous washers. I take them out IMMEDIATELY as soon as the door unlocks and shake them out and hang everything to dry. This worked great previously and I never had to iron anything or put anything in the dryer to get wrinkles out. Now, this washer wrinkles my clothing to an unbelievable extent so that they need to be ironed or a round in the dryer to relax them. This is true on Wrinkle Guard and using the delicate setting, set between medium and none on the spin cycle. Wrinkle Guard? I don’t think so. This thing wrinkles my No Iron shirts so they will have to be ironed or steamed. The washer leaves lint like residue most all of the time on dark clothing from day one. I most recently did a load of black only clothes that I did on delicate, soil level between med to extra heavy, spin speed between med and none, and, because of the dirty clothes issue, I had the extra rinse on. The clothes came out dirtier looking than they went in and looked like I washed them with a box of tissues and too much soap. They looked dirtier than before I washed them and had a whitish and lint like residue on everything. So I ran them through the same cycle/extra rinse again but WITHOUT any soap. Unfortunately I didn’t watch to see how much water the machine sensed that these loads needed and I didn’t see how much water was there - but I did for other loads after - see the next problem below. After the second identical cycle, the clothes had the same residue which I photographed and have enclosed below. (And still a wrinkled mess.)We have found that the water sensor can’t sense the proper water level needed and is likely not functional. Sometimes it seems like it might almost be be appropriate and sometimes not at all. Specifically, after I ran the black load through, I decided to try a small red load before my usual large blue load just to see how much water there was. Same settings as above, 6 small items that barely covered the bottom of the drum and the washer sensed a medium load. Certainly by volume of clothing this was not a medium sized load and if it goes by weight, it was the smallest load possible! Medium water level… These clothes seemed to agitate ok because they were completely submerged in water and came out clean. Then I did the much larger blue load that filled the drummer then halfway. This had so many more items than the red load and weighed way more. I tried the same settings as above and this time the machine sensed a SMALL load and the water level was barely halfway up the clothes, if even that much. So half of the clothes were out of the water and we watched and witnessed that the clothes did not agitate properly. This load came out like the black load so I ran the whole cycle again including the double rinse. This time, the same load was sensed to be a MEDIUM load although NOTHING changed except that the clothes were damp and lower in the tub as they were compressed from having gone through the entire wash cycle. They came out mostly clean, after the second wash, again, likely because this time they were almost covered by the water (2/3rds or so) and could move around a little better but still not great agitation. There almost never seems to be quite enough water so that the clothes are not able to move by the agitator and sometimes we watch and can see that the clothes above the waters never get pulled into the water. I understand that this machine may not completely cover the clothes but this seems way short on water and the fact that things usually come out dirty means something is wrong. There is often so little water that the agitator can’t possibly work the clothes into the water. So, next I ran an Oxi cycle and witnessed that about half of the items were not in any water and were only wet because of the filling cycle not because they were moved around by the agitator. How can the oxi do its job if the clothes aren’t in the solution of at least wet from the solution which I didn’t see as likely as the clothes didn’t seem to move through much if at all?Along with the same water sensing problem, why on earth isn’t there a manual water adjustment? If the water sensor doesn’t work, the other option is only the high fill setting. After finding my clothes still dirty when we first got it, I tried the high fill setting to see if this would help but the clothes still came out with that residue. This was the very first few loads I ran and was assuming it was just user error so I studied the manual and tried everything as recommended. Since reading that residue can result from too much water, I use the recommended sensing feature now. So, we can either have too much water or barely any at all…

According to Maytags manual Odors and smoke are normal when the oven is used the first few times... Exposure to the fumes may result in death of certain birds. What about humans? I had serious respiratory problems and the industrial-level fumes lingered after dozens of uses. Neither the upper nor the lower ovens are calibrated. Upper oven baked at 325 when digital readout said 350. Lower oven had to be set to 365 to cook at 350. (After several puzzling baking disasters I bought an oven thermometer.) YOU are supposed to calibrate it yourself with cryptic instructions and a lot of trial and error.

We bought a Maytag Bravos three and a half years ago. We always tried to follow instructions for the machine. Only used he detergent, used the affresh, tried not to overload the machine etc. Had to call a repairman. Our washing machine started leaking water at the bottom. Hoping that it is only a three machine it would be fixable. Bad news the repairs would be over $600.00. It needs a new tub seal and bearings. For a THREE YEAR OLD washing machine! The repairman and I had quite a talk about appliances. He said they just dont make them to last anymore and the companies such as Whirlpool, Maytag, etc. do on purpose and they get away with it. Stay away from Maytag Bravos. It is a worthless piece of crap. It will not last long. Now we have a three year old washing machine that does NOT work right. Something has to be done in this country to come down hard on the companies that make appliances. I would NOT recommend this piece of crap of a washing machine.

I purchased a new gas range in Nov 2013, but didnt use it until April because I was remodeling a house I had just bought. When I used it to cook Easter dinner, my meal was cold; the oven heats, then shuts off. Maytag has sent service techs 3 times. They have replaced the control board and the DSI module and ordered another part, for which we have been waiting over 3 weeks. Now they tell me it will be here next week. Maytag obviously cannot fix the NEW range, but they refuse to replace it. They deem it to be repairable though they cannot repair it. Customer service claims to be sympathetic, but will do nothing except schedule another service call and offer to extend my service warranty. What good is a service warranty if they cant repair the appliance? If youre smart, youll steer clear of Maytag and Whirlpool appliances. They are total CRAP.

Maytag washer MHW5500FW had service just a month after purchase and still a year later the washer has problems spinning using direct drive. Even a few towels are soaked when cycle is done or errors out and must be restarted. Most of the time the washer has to be cycled on spin to remove water from soaked items, not just a simple bath rug, towels, bed sheets. Almost anything has a problem spinning. Had to purchase another year of service coverage as I dont trust the washer will last. Soap dispenser needs to be diluted despite using correct soap, per service tech advice which triggers sensors to shut down. Machine looks good but not ergonomically designed without the stand as you can easily lean over the washer and turn on and off accidentally. Same goes for the matching dryer, also can easily set off the on pause and on/off button. Dryer works great other than that.

Purchased a Maytag Bravos washer model MTW6700TQ ON 5/5/2008. Also purchased extended service agreement. This washing machine was only five years old when it started rusting on the top of the body where you load the clothes and fill the detergent. Not in a million years did I expect a washing machine to be rust-prone. Its a washing machine. The service contract doesnt cover dust, mold, rodent damage, and RUST (like rust is an external source). When I called Maytag they were not surprised. They said the life expectancy of their product could be as little as a year and a half. Even following the monthly cleaning and care has not stopped the inside of the tub from producing MOLD. When I contact Maytag there was nothing they could do about this problem. At this point my washer is only a few years old. I attempted to clean it myself but the drum would not break free. My options are, deal with the smell of mold and mildew, Pay Maytag $250 to come out and clean it (this would need to be done every 1-2 years) or buy a new washer.
