Bought our Oven 2009 (Kenmore Elite)... Dec 2013 turned on the Clean Oven, and after two hours heard a loud pop. Could not open oven, because it was on clean. When we did, found a hole in the bottom of the oven and you could see the heating element. The light wasnt working, and our outside panel was only half working. Called Sears repair, and said would cost $950 to fix ($500 for labor). I said that this was dangerous, that my oven basically exploded on CLEAN feature. He said I know, most of my calls are because of the SELF Clean. He told me Self Clean, Self destruct. He said he wont let his wife use the self clean because of the problems it causes with ovens. He makes his wife clean the old fashion way because of all the problems he has seen. He said there were no recalls, and he couldnt give me a discount. He asked if I had the extended warranty problem. I said no... but this shouldnt be happening. He said he agrees, but he was only the service man. I am really disappointed that this is considered normal... and it is a big hazard... I am now in the process of finding a new oven... and believe me it wont be Sears... and wanting an oven without self clean... That feature should be taken off... It is amazing how much more you spend on an oven with that feature, a feature that can blow up your oven. The pride sure has gone out of American Made Products... Just venting... no pun intended.
This Kenmore washer is very energy efficient and does a great job cleaning my laundry. This is a good product and it has been nothing but reliable. I have had it for a few years and have never had to replace or have any repairs done. Mines white because all my other appliances are and its easier to keep everything matching. It is also worth every penny. I did some comparison before purchasing and believe this was the best quality product in our price range and am extremely satisfied with the purchase. I would definitely recommend this product.
My Kenmore Elite outside oven glass door shattered while we were broiling something! Since we are out of warranty, they want $400 to replace it. From what Im reading on the internet, this seems to be a design flaw.
I rent my home so I didnt buy this stove but I use it pretty much every day. Its a white Kenmore, ceramic top with 4 burners. One of those is a double burner. I just did the self cleaning on it, which took 3 hours (not as long as some ovens). It burned off pretty much everything but left some crusties between the crack of the door and the oven but other than that it cleaned itself great (I just had to wipe the ash out). The top is fairly easy to clean but to get the ceramic really clean and shiny I use the Kenmore cooktop ceramic cleaner. Its wonderful.
Purchased the Kenmore pro microwave oven. Beautiful looking appliance for my new kitchen. I loved the features along with the over the stove lighting. It was the first microwave I owned that had useful lighting. I never had any problems with it. Then it happened--one year and 7 days later it stopped working. Out of warranty, out of luck.
Kenmore Range Model 790.94452701 - The control board burned up 3 times in 7 years. We were afraid to leave the oven on and go outside for fear of the house burning down. Two times when it burned up it caused the oven to heat well over 500 degrees. Each time it burned up there were burnt wires and smoke. Replacing the board is easy, but not cheap and very inconvenient. We decided to purchase a new range rather than fix our Kenmore for the fourth time. Suffice to say it isnt a Kenmore.
Bought Kenmore oven 2 years ago. Stopped working on Thanksgiving. Guy sent to fix it says it needs a new back panel for $500. Kenmore made a shoddy product and should fix their poorly made oven at no cost to us. I will not purchase another Kenmore product ever again. Are we supposed to replace appliances at the same rate we have to replace light bulbs? Kenmore needs to stand behind their products and not make garbage.
Kenmore Elite 75339 - After about 3 weeks of using this range we realized that it was leaking gas. Had a service consultant from the gas company come out to sniff for leaks and he informed us it was leaking from the regulator and 2 of the burners. He told us this was the 4th or 5th Oven he had seen leaking like ours. We called Sears to have the oven exchanged and they setup another delivery for a few days later. After waiting about an hour or so after their so called scheduled delivery was suppose to be I called to find out where they were. The delivery consultant informed us that the new oven they were suppose to deliver was also damaged and that they needed to reschedule another delivery. Sears couldnt even be bothered to call and let us know. At this point we are just trying to get a refund. Enough is enough. Trying to navigate Sears customer service seems to be a battle all on its own. Its no wonder with customer service this terrible why the company is such a bad financial situation. Save yourself A LOT of hassle and buy something other than this range and save yourself even more hassle by shopping somewhere other than Sears.
I like the size of the refrigerator and the separation (difference) of the refrigerator and freezer. The water pump (inside) is convenient, easy to use and keeps mistakes (overflowing water, accidental presses, etc.) to a minimum and off the kitchen tile. I love the size of the refrigerator and all of its compartments, but I do sometimes wish that the freezer had a little more space. (We do have a second fridge/freezer in our basement for holidays and alcohol.) The refrigerator looks very nice in our kitchen. It flows and does not look too clunky. (The black model) Matches our countertops and accents the oven as well. I would recommend the Kenmore Refrigerator and have to friends and family. Although a little pricier, we feel the value was well worth the reward.
Its not the best. It doesnt always get the dishes nice and clean. They dont always come out dry and I have never had a load of dishes come out without water spots on them. The size of the dishwasher is very good for the size of household that we have. We are a family of 4 and this dishwasher can hold 2 days worth of dishes in it. The appearance of this dishwasher is good. It can match into any basic kitchen that you put it in. It has a nice and clean look to the front of it. I have no clue what the retail value of this dishwasher is. Because my dishwasher was bought second hand and only cost my 25.00. I hope if I have to replace this one that the price is in a good price range.
Performed great for years. Was happy with it. I would recommend one. The fridge kept everything cold and freezer worked great also. I never had any issues with it. It had to be small enough to fit in my townhouse. It fit okay in my kitchen. The width wasnt so much the issue as height. Inside the fridge was still roomy enough. The appearance was okay. It was mainly in my price range out of all the refrigerators available. I felt it was a good value. The fridge did what I needed it to do. It is a reputable brand and store I bought it from.
Purchased Elite Gas Range in 2011. Serviced twice after self-clean caused oven control board to fail. I noticed I am not alone. This is not cheap to fix. If you are buying Kenmore, check the service history! Sad to say I will no longer be buying Kenmore appliances. Now a 3000.00 oven!
We bought a brand new Kenmore Elite Fridge with double french doors, top of the line a little over 3 years ago. Just after 3 years and the warranty ran out, so did the compressor. We also had bought a Kenmore oven, where the glass broke right before the warranty ran out. It really seems Kenmore is into planned obsolescence, and not making stuff to last anymore. Repair guy says parts and fix wont be in for 2 weeks. The experience has been bad considering you have to keep things on ice, and the slow repair turnaround. Id keep shopping and make sure you pick a brand that is more reliable.
I purchased a Kenmore Elite top load washer in 12/2011. In roughly 12-13 months, the area around the bleach dispenser started to show signs of rust/corrosion. I contacted the Sears customer solutions group and they arranged a service call, which I paid for, to assess and confirm that there truly is rust/corrosion around the dispenser! I was quoted almost $300 for the repair, however the technician stated that there was a Service Flash for this very issue which apparently warrants a notification and how to handle it. This service flash SF26-813 clearly states as a repair as having a redesigned cover and dispenser along with having the cover completely painted. This obviously was a manufacturing defect that, when I started addressing with Sears, turned into a hot potato hand-off, from one department to another, without any sign of helping resolve the issue. They even sent me to LG, the manufacturer, to try to have them do something for me, instead of them bringing the issue to LG as their vendor and expecting resolution and seeking reparations. I finally was given a case number that was essentially useless since there is no direct contact person to work with, which in effect results in multiple solutions group people passing on emails trains without any point of contact. I even asked for direct contact and provided my phone number through every email...but still no call. This is the ultimate shell game with consumers...create a customer solutions group to help you...but dont actually have this group do anything to foster customer solutions. I was however offered $65 for part of the original service call. I even asked if they even interact with their vendors... in this case LG, to force them to own up to poor engineering and design, to help rebuild credibility and demonstrate responsibility for their products. I am Sears customer not LGs, and as such Sears should have an obligation to me. They in turn need to hold LG accountable for their inferior manufacturing design. Whatever happened to taking care of the customer? Sadly...this is a bygone saying.
Kenmore Double Oven Electric Range: The bottom oven is 50 degrees hotter than what the oven is set at. The owners manual has a section on how you lower or higher the temperature by 35 degrees, but when going through the steps, it appears that the instructions are to change the setting from Fahrenheit to Celsius. So I am unable to use this workaround. It would have only changed it 35 degrees, and I needed it to change 50 degrees. I bought this oven for baking. So it is essentially useless to me.
I have always preferred an electric stove over a gas stove. I had my stove and hot water on propane so I decided to do all electric and thats when I purchased the Kenmore electric range. I have never owned a glass top stove that didnt have the coil burners. There really wasnt any other options. I learned that if you spill something on the stove while cooking on it to make sure you clean it up before you use it again because it is a lot harder to get it clean if you keep cooking on it. It cleans up great as long as you clean it after every use. It has a convection option instead of just bake selection which I use most of the time because its faster and it cooks more evenly. It also has one burner that is called turbo boil. When you use that burner it boils within less than 1 minute. It is awesome. Really cant think of anything negative. I would highly recommend the Kenmore electric range. It is the best oven I have ever owned.
Kenmore Elite range model no 790-4101-3801 - This is the second time that my oven would not heat up past 100 after using my self-cleaning oven. My son also had problems with sears on his kenmore elite electric range. Everyone, from Sears to the CPSC appears to not care when we call to tell them that the range Door Shattered leaving glass all over the kitchen floor. He had it fix and it happen again. The first time the warranty covered it because it was not even six months old. The second time he paid to have it fix and it shattered a third time and he asked for them to replace the range and they offer a $50.00 dollar gift card that he could use to purchase a new range. He now has a range that the oven cannot be use because it is not safe without the outer glass. And I wonder how safe is my Range that the self-cleaning oven clause my oven not to warm up past 100 degrees... My range that my oven will not heat up more than 100 degree cost me $1741.00. My sons range that the oven door shattered 3 times cost $1850.00. They are both now 5 years old. Sad that sears and kenmore will never have us as customers.
I purchased a Kenmore Range in July 2014 and I am very disappointed with the range. My first complaint is concerning the design of the double pane window. With all the advancements made with cooking techniques, why has Kenmore not figured out how to prevent grease from seeping in between the double panel glass front. And most importantly, how do I clean it without violating my warranty? My second complaint is concerning the poofing sound the gas makes to maintain the heating level set on the stove. It annoys me greatly. Last complaint the electric ignition on the power burner does not work consistently. I called for service and the technician stated a new cap will be ordered and mailed to me; another visit may be necessary to take the stove apart to adjust the gas intake and there is nothing can be done about the grease seeping in between the double-paned glass panel.
My Kenmore dishwasher was very fast and it did not make a bunch of loud noises like some dishwashers that I had owned prior. This specific model dishwasher had powerful jets. I cant recall a time when I owned my first Kenmore that I ever had to run my dishes through a second cycle. They always came out looking crystal clean. The dishwasher came with my first condo I bought and for the five years I lived there I had absolutely no problems at all with it. I own a Kenmore now because of it. I was told by the previous owners of the condominiums that the dishwasher and oven were brand new and had been installed a week earlier.
I purchased a Kenmore Convection Range model 790.97453801 on 2/7/2009 for $1,000. Today, it takes 45 minutes for it to preheat to 350 degrees. We did not buy the extended warranty. I called Sears to schedule a repair and was told it costs $129 for a service call plus parts or I could purchase a 1-year warranty for $239 which would cover repairs and parts for 1 year and $500 towards a replacement in the case that it cant be repaired. The oven is less than 2 1/2 years old. :( This is the last Sears purchase we will make.
Never had any issues with it; its energy efficient and keeps frozen foods frozen and cold food cold. The price is also reasonable for such a reliable appliance. Its a good size for two people; it holds several beverage packs, has large crispers and there is enough space to arrange items if you really want to load it up. Its a typical two door appliance with a top freezer - it is kind of generic looking but its functionality is optimal. We really like it... For this size and model, Kenmore provides the best value - the price is very low compared to similar brands. This is a functional appliance and well worth the price.
Kenmore was okay. I chose this brand and model initially because it was on sale for a great price and the HE cycle thats good for saving money and for the environment got me convinced with its added bonus. I like the different cycle choices including the HE cycle. It also was very quiet for a dishwasher. They can be quite noisy so this was a nice surprise for us. Also, it wasnt too big but seemed to fit more dishes inside than you would think it would. However, it had some strange slits were you just couldnt fit larger dishes into that seemed like they should fit. I also didnt like a couple of things like it didnt seem to clean the dishes very well on any cycle and thats with us prewashing and pre-soaking. All in all, it was alright decision due to not very much money being spent at all. If I had paid full price, I wouldve been very disappointed with this unit.
My Kenmore Bottom Freezer Refrigerator Model #795.7305 has proven to be a disappointment. Although interiorly spacious with Ice & Water dispenser, a total of 7 bins on either side of the doors & various other nice features, I must warn you, BUYER BEWARE! I have owned this refrigerator LESS than 5 years and have already had to replace two door bins and the ice door bin. All are made of plastic and all bins cracked. The PLASTIC ice door bin costs just under $153. That is some expensive PLASTIC! When consulting the Sears parts department, they mentioned that the new and improved Ice bin is stronger (which leads me to believe that other customers have had same experience and that is why they have revamped the ice bin. The warranty on the $153.00 new, improved PLASTIC ice bin is only ONE YEAR. 365 days! Gone are the days of sturdy, long lasting appliances from Sears. Buyers please think twice! At least with this model. Oh, its just my hubby & I who are in our 60s, so there is no slamming of refrigerator doors or rough handling of these plastic pieces.
We purchased our wall oven from Sears with the expectation of quality of their name and the backing of their outside manufactures making products for them. I noticed the house smelled like wood burning and thought it might be our fireplace. The smell progressively grew stronger and stronger over the months as we used the oven. Last week I got scared and called a local appliance repairman and he asked if my oven was clean, as most of his calls are from something falling onto the heating element(s). I cleaned the oven as a precaution. My son came home from college for the weekend that night and used the oven to bake a dessert, the kitchen filled with smoke and again smelled like burnt wood.Monday the appliance repairman found the problem and said we were lucky the house did not burn down. The bottom of the oven dropped down allowing the heating element and bottom liner of the oven to transfer heat to the under cover as seen in the pictures attached. First two are the charred and burnt cabinet, third is the hot spot under the oven where heat transfer happened, the last three are the sunken bottom and heating element.
We purchased our house from the original owner and have had nothing but problems with the oven racks. They never used the oven, so were unaware of the problem. It is Model # C 970-418232, Serial # NF70817966. We have had the racks fall in the middle of baking something NUMEROUS times, finally with one incidence causing a serious burn. This is unacceptable! I have read that others have had the same issues, but there have been no resolutions as of yet. It is not under warranty anymore, and I dont think that this should be called a warranty issue, but should be recalled due to the risk of VERY SERIOUS burns, items breaking when rack falls, etc!!! We should be able to SAFELY use ANY of our oven racks on ANY of the shelf levels! My mother has also been burned by our oven, and my children are forbidden to use it! Has ANYONE been compensated for this problem? Has Sears ever replaced any of the racks and given the owner the correct size? I look forward to hearing more about this from other owners, and would love to hear back from Sears! This is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS problem that needs to be fixed!
Lasted a long time before I purchased a new refrigerator. No problems with it until it was worn out. Reliable and freezer kept food well. It fit my needs at the time. With a family and grandkids, I needed something larger and I moved up to stainless steel. The freezer was a bit small, but it was appropriate for the fridge size. It was basic white refrigerator. Nothing exceptional, but it served the purpose for what I needed. It was easy to clean and maintain with mild soap and water. It was a good refrigerator for the price. It was comparable if not a bit better in the price range with similar models. Its a good choice if youre not ready for a more expensive stainless steel model.
Mom always used and spoke positively about her Kenmore appliances. My initial expectations were met because the appliance was very nice and looked very good. The refrigerator was installed easy. Also, all the drawers and compartments were easy to understand, and clean. I like the reliability - never had refrigerator repaired. I like the ergonomic handle - easy to open & easy on the hand. I like the effective crisper drawer - keeps produce fresher. I like the temperature control dial, can turn temperature down when I am gone for an extended period. However, I would improve the length and width of some compartments on the interior door to fit a wider range of containers. I would also improve the seal on the door because it no longer seals closed as good as when it was new. I would make the entire refrigerator scratch proof.
Ditto Angie of Milton, Other on Aug. 4, 2014. This is the second time our glass shattered. Purchased the oven in 2010 (new home). First glass shattered Dec 2012. Glass replaced by A&E certified tech. August 2014 - second event of glass shattering. Waiting to hear from Sears.
I have a Kenmore 79041053101, the oven locked (5f error code), had to use YouTube to open it, the top burners are difficult to maintain. Repairman fees from Sears is insane $80 are. I have been informed that to replace control board it will cost about $500. It came with the house, 4 yrs old but I will not repair and will never purchase a Kenmore appliance.
My washers performance has been great. It gets the job done. It has lasted longer than any other brand. It cleans the biggest material, which would be my comforter. It had endured one of my king size comforter and a number of occasions. Also has endure tons of clothes piled on high without ever messing up. It is white with easy to read settings. I like how the controls are easy to read and adjust if needed to be changed on a different setting, due to the clothing difference. It was/is my price range for the right amount of size and settings for my family. It has held up to its value so many times and I see a few more years with it as well.
Purchased a complete suite of appliances for my new kitchen 4 years ago. Major failure on the $3,800 fridge after 13 months, water pump, (2) door hinges and silverware basket on dishwasher, complete replacement of microwave and 5 repairs on the double wall oven. COMPLETE GARBAGE. WILL NEVER BUY KENMORE AGAIN!
We purchased the Kenmore Elite Double Oven Gas Range Model 790 in Nov. 2011 & contrary to our usual approach, bought the 3-year extended warranty in part because the stove was expensive, being on sale for almost $1800. On Oct 30, 2014, the oven would not heat & a technician replaced the upper oven bake ignitor. Whew!...we thought. Lucky for us we had the extended warranty. But wait...on Feb. 9, 2015, with the extended warranty expired by about 2 1/2 months, the oven was turned on for use. While waiting for it to pre-heat, the oven started beeping wildly, then a terrible electrical burning smell flooded the house. My husband raced to the kitchen to see flames shooting out of the vents in the back. He managed to get the fire out and the gas turned off. The entire backside of wires was charred. We took photos & went to Sears where the Manager told us there was nothing he could do. He said it was up to the Service (1-800-4-MY HOME). We were incredulous that Sears does not have its own managers making these types of customer service decisions, but rather that the repair service to which they contact has that authority! I reminded him this was not a user error in that we did not set off a grease fire, but that the stove CAUGHT ON FIRE! We suggested that we thought Sears should take that very seriously, as a house fire could have resulted. He went on to repeat that Service would charge us to come out to verify & assess the damage & likely offer us no satisfaction. We previously bought appliances from Sears, but no longer. All our friends are incredulous that Sears is not replacing this stove.
Love my Kenmore gas range w/ convection oven. It has five burners and the one in the center I can use with a flat grill pan. I bake a lot and the oven works and holds the temp great. The oven has a self-clean cycle that works great.
Ive had this range for 6-7 years now. The motherboard was replaced 8 times in 4 years (fading, blinking, etc) and yet Sears would NOT replace it, they did extend my warranty one time, but its the absolute worst. If this range (Gas, Elite, Model 790) is not a lemon, I dont know what is. The repair guy (Mikey, on a first name basis because he was here so much) came to replace it one time and the one he brought, brand new, didnt work. I would never purchase another Sears product. Kenmore used to the Gold Standard and Sears used to be the King of customer service, no longer.
When my stove was less than 2 months old, I did a self clean and it destroyed my oven, couldn’t even see through the glass. It actually looks like someone sprayed it down with mud then baked it on. They replaced the glass. 2 months later I did another self clean and the same problem. Can’t get sears or Trans Global to help me with this, they say I should of cleaned my oven before I self cleaned my oven. I WILL NEVER BUY KENMORE AGAIN!!!
My Kenmore Built-in oven is a workhorse. I have had one service call in 16 years of using it, and that was due to something I did wrong. I dont know how old it is, but it was built in when we bought the house in 1999. They may no longer be as good, but one can hope.
We purchased a Sears slide-in gas range model 790.367 in 2008. Up to this point we have had some issues but nothing major. At this point the racks will no longer stay in place. We learned about this the hard way. This is the same problem others have described. I discussed this with the manager of our local Sears who was unaware of the problem but made a call to a long time service tech who told him that he was aware of this problem. He suggested we slide the unit out and push the walls in. We were not comfortable with this. We are considering making a service appointment but are concerned about paying a lot of money and having the problem recur. I chatted with the Sears expert who was not at all helpful. We are at a loss about what to do. We consider this a serious safety issue and will not use the oven. Like others we paid a lot of money for an oven we cant use. We feel that this is clearly a product defect and that Sears should help us.
It is an awesome product and is very easy to clean. Wipes down easily. Temperature Tunes down right away. And the oven works really well. I have always loved this brand. They are fairly inexpensive. And they never disappoint.
Purchased Kenmore Electric Range Model 9622 Sept. 2007. First use of self-cleaning burned the paint off panel above oven vent (which happens to be RIGHT UNDER THE MAIN CONTROL PANEL!!! Same vent drips profusely during use of oven. Days before Thanksgiving, either 2013, or 2014, large eye on left makes a loud pop, then stops working. Thought it would be no biggie. (Didnt purchase extended warranty). It was a REAL BIGGIE. The problem was in the main control panel. $650 to repair. Twice what I paid for the stove originally!(Should have just sold it without eye working and used the money to offset new range). Yesterday, while trying to heat the oven just to 375°, it made a HUGE pop and tripped my breaker. It did that twice, then, shut down 2 more times with same loud pop, without tripping the fuse. The last hoorah was when IT WASNT EVEN BEING USED!!! Same loud pop, and completely shut off. Pulled it out from the wall to find an electrical burn on the wall, and hole burned through the cover plate. Inside, the piece to hold one of the sets of wires is completely melted.
I bought a Kenmore 79032613318, slide in range for over $1300. I had shopped around but knew the kenmore brand for years and felt this would be a good choice. I bought in June of 2016 and by the end of the summer of 2017 none of the range control buttons worked. So basically all I had was a stove and no oven. I researched the possible problem and found that either the electronic controller or the cover panel itself was bad (that is where the touch screen buttons are housed). The controller cost 227 and the control panel cost 337. I took a gamble and replaced the controller. Still not working, now Sears is telling me to replace the control panel. So if I decide to do this I will have over $500 into a range that lasted less than year....Think I wont be buying any sears products in the near future and will just move on and buy new range somewhere else....Got hosed on that deal for sure.
New stove < 7 months old, on 07/26/2014 @ 0300 cold and unused for days, the lower oven front door glass exploded all over my kitchen like a small bomb. Terrified my wife, and we had glass over everything in the kitchen even well above the level of the door... counters, pictures on the wall, etc... Sears-Kenmore personnel most unhelpful in regards to servicing the warranty and providing corrective action. This company is a dead-man walking in regard to customer service... When you google this Kenmore exploding oven door, there are thousands of cases on the net. I wish I had been bright enough to google it thusly before the purchase. The stove was not cheap. An expensive lesson...
Kenmore Electric Range Model 790. Do not purchase this product!! The past few years we have been dealing with this range going directly to broil while baking. Almost started a house fire when it first happened. After calling and writing Sears I have gotten no response, no help or assistance with repair and there has been no recall even though I have read hundreds of similar incidents. I have unplugged it, reset breaker, and it works for a week or two then does it again. I have learned to cook using broil but it gets too hot and code error F10 flashes. Absolute terrible product and I am disappointed in Sears for not helping people out and for safety reasons, getting these ranges out of peoples homes. No wonder Sears is all but going out of business. You cannot run a successful business selling this kind of appliance. PLEASE RECALL THIS ELECTRIC RANGE!!
I have an electric range from Kenmore. This stove/oven does a wonderful job with its cooking temps. Some electric stoves overheat and does not cook properly but Ive never had that issue with my Kenmore. I trust my stove to cook at the proper temps that I put it on. I really have no complaints as far as I can think of and Im happy with my ownership of Kenmore products.
We bought a Kenmore Electric Range 790.9420, 9424 just under 2 years ago for $700 (January 2015). The Convection has never been impressive... Following the directions but still burning items (I have since found out that it shouldve performed much better than that but I had no reference point) and it cant cook more than one item at a time without slowing down the cooking process or burning items. The last straw was two weeks ago, 12/10/16. It made a very loud POP while trying to bake a pizza. It totally stopped baking. For the last two weeks I have gotten the worst customer service through Sears that I have ever experienced. The local store hasnt been able to help (in fact when I tried to call their listed number, they never answered and then the phone call just cut off after 3 minutes of listening to it ring). I had to go into the store to tell the manager that their phone hadnt worked for 3 days as I had tried to reach them, then the 800 Sears Service number that is listed to call has been just terrible. Those at the 800 number must be trained to never help the customer or admit that their product hasnt delivered as it should have AND they arent allowed to give out any information on someone higher than their level to complain to... Absolutely no accountability. The main numbers of 1-800-469-4663 and 1-847-286-2500 have given me NO satisfaction. They have transferred me to Sears Holdings, Sears Solutions, Sears Rewards and NO ONE has been able to help me. All say it is on me, I didnt buy a warranty but that they can come out for $89 to assess it! Are you kidding me? My Stove/oven isnt made to last even 2 years? My phone call issues range from completely dropping my calls, putting me on hold for 25 minutes and never returning to speak to me so I had to hang up and call back and start all over, saying there is no recall or defect on this item so its costs are on me. I have been trying to give Sears some time to take some responsibility for their defective product...I finally had another local repair man come out and they determined it is the Control Panel... Cost is estimated at $250 (thats just for the item), then add the labor. I called Sears with this information. They have no solution other than to tell me to pay their tech to come out and assess it. I will NOT do that. I will not buy a Sears product ever again and I will do my best to let everyone I know to never buy from there again. Other than the store manager who did a good job hearing me but had no authority to help me, I have experienced ZERO customer service. I spoke to the store manager yesterday and there was a sign of a very little movement after I pressed more that my appliance shouldnt break in under 2 years and that anyone must have a warranty for something under 2 years. She was going to contact the Service Factory Manager directly for me. I have doubts that anything will result and plan to buy with a local company. The individuals on the phone are not accountable to anyone... They dont seem to care if you have a lemon or if you will not do business with their company anymore. I was told if I had an issue and wanted to speak to a manager, that I could call back and hopefully I could get through to the Arizona call center versus the Texas one. Are you kidding me? No accountability, No customer service, No standing behind their products and making it right with customers. Terrible. I/we have many more years of buying power and it wont be with Sears. I really hope my review will prevent someone else putting their money and faith into any Sears products.
Kemore Range Model 970503720 - My wife and I have had three brand new stoves stop working on us. The most recent stove was a Kenmore Model 970C503720 which is a convection fan. This was an upgrade from Sears from the basic model which did not have the convection. Soon after purchase on stove number one, the clock stopped which controls the oven temperature. This would not allow the oven to heat up higher that 287 degrees. We had the control board replaced but it died as well. We received a replacement stove, same problem occurred; then, we upgraded to our current stove and the same problem occurred. Sears indicated that this will be the last time they will help us because nobody else has this problem and they have suggested that if it happened again we must have a wiring problem. Nothing electronically with regard to the stove has changed in our house and before we bought these three new stoves, our previous stove ran just fine for 20 years. It is my belief that the control boards are defective. So now we are going to approach Sears for a fourth time; concerned that we will not get satisfaction. We are willing to upgrade to something that does not have this kind of control board but did chose to stay with this design to avoid having to buy new pots and pans to accommodate the newer cooking surfaces.
I really like my Kenmore microwave. It’s efficient and has given me no problems. It is stainless, is easy to clean, and wired into the wall above my stove. I have had great success with Kenmore products all through the years.
It was perfect. I would buy another one if I could afford it. It kept everything cooled or frozen exactly how it should. It was HUGE. Lots of room for any size container. The places in the door were awesome. The drawers were big and roomy as well. The freezer side wasnt hampered by the ice maker either. I loved the stainless steel. Easy to clean. Shiny. Sexy. Much better than the typical textured outside of most refrigerators. Smooth. Lovely. It was priced perfectly. Mid-range. It was a scratch and dent model too so there was an additional discount which made it much more appealing to me and much more affordable.
I purchased a washer dryer set. I think it was expensive. Maybe in the $3,000+ range for both appliances. Within a year of buying the washing machine it had mold. We had contacted Kenmore and received no help. Our clothing always stinks and the washing machine puts out a horrific odor to our home. Why is it we cant even buy an expensive appliance and have it work well? They dont care. So now we are stuck with stinky clothes and mold that will not go away no matter how much we clean. Another disgusting company.
Fridge model 795 7032 - Im less than pleased with this refrigerator and the manufacturers honor to their product. Within 6 months of owning it the ice maker/dispenser stopped working. We opted out of spending the extra $100 for the extra warranty because for some reason I had faith that a brand new product wouldnt have issues, and if it did, then I could trust the manufacturer to stand behind it. That didnt happen either. Instead, we were pitched getting a warranty for $40/mo after paying a $60 fee to start. Completely dissatisfied with our product and experience and will likely be getting something else from another brand. The oven we bought at the same time, also Kenmore, is another story. It takes 20 minutes to preheat to 350 degrees or higher...
I purchased a Kenmore glass top range ten years ago. It had everything that I wanted from a self cleaning feature, warming drawer, warming stove top burner to name a few. However, the first thing I had a problem with was the screws to the door handles were in constant need of tightening, then the area around the front of the handle cracked. I use my oven less than 6 times a week on average and only once a day.The other day, while waiting for my oven to preheat, there was an explosion, the door flew open and the inside of the oven was on fire. We managed to get it under control without having to call 911. And we were able to shut the oven off at the stove top (reading other reviews, people had to shut it off at the breaker). My house was full of smoke. Needless to say, I am in shock and horror over this situation. I cant for the life of me figure out why this happened. What if I were using the self cleaning mode? The oven would have been on lock!!! So I guess it would have blown the door off?I will not consider repairing the oven, nor will I consider another Kenmore appliance of any kind. I had also purchased a Kenmore dishwasher which never washed the dishes that well from the start and parts were cheaply made. We replaced that in 5 years time. I resent spending my hard earned money on junk that doesnt function well when you have it and it has to be replaced every 5 years. I have a 30 year old fridge in my basement and never had an issue with it - which is the way it used to be. You replaced those items because you wanted to update style and technology - not because it caught on fire and potentially could have burned the house down. What is more disturbing is that there are plenty of the same complaints on here about the fires and nothing has been done about it.
It was the better of the dishwashers I have owned. It was not needful to even rinse the dishes well, only scrape them good. I wish I had bought the same model again when it wore out and needed replaced. I was married with four children. We almost always could get all the dishes and pans into the dishwasher and then some. I was always very happy about this as I hate washing any dishes by hand. Im not one to really care about the way an appliance looks most of the time, but I did like this one especially as it matched my stove and refrigerator. They were Kenmore also :) It was a very good value as it did the job very well and lasted many years even through such a large family and much mistreatment by so many children trying to do their chores.
I purchased an expensive Kenmore Elite electric stove/oven in 2009 and have had many problems and have spent much money on repairs. Until recently I was unaware of the numerous complaints and lawsuits filed with similar issues. My top burner does not turn off, but remains on and on high. The burner has also turned on by itself when not being used. I have called with my concern for the safety of my family as I believe this to be a fire hazard. I believe this appliance should be recalled, but I have been told that my appliance does not have the model # of the ones that are recalled. We are waiting for another service member but in the meantime worry about the hazard this poses to my family! Sears has offered no help or concern as they believe my appliance is not one of the many recalled. I fear for the safety of my home and family.
I purchased brand new Kenmore elite range. I used the self clean feature once. Oven will not bake. Cannot find any solutions, there are blogs that recommend a reset button but this model does not have a reset button. I dont have the $ to replace it. Expensive paperweight. I will never buy anything Kenmore again. I already learned the lesson about Maytag brand years ago.
I purchased this Kenmore convection range in July 2011 online from Sears for $782.16 with free delivery. A few weeks ago, I was using the self-cleaning cycle when I heard a pop and saw a spark of light. I turned the cycle off, let it cool and turned the cleaning cycle back on and finished the cleaning. In my heart I knew there was something not right. I tested the preheat and it seemed slow, but I was able to use the oven a few times after that. Then the last time I turned it on, I got a weird chlorine smell/burning plastic?...That was it... No more oven. After the disbelief subsided, I started making phone calls. Per Sears... my one year warranty was up and I was up a creek. Sears repair sent a repairman ($80.25 with tax) and I was told it would be $348.02 to repair the electronic range control and overlay.Needless to say, the repairman had little to say except, These things are mass produced, its the manufacturer (Kenmore? probably not) not Sears. I guess Sears only sells the junk. After that they have no responsibility. He also had the gall to say, It is what it is, and left coupons for a percentage off a new stove. The little Troll even gave me a line about purchasing a new warranty after they repaired their junk. TWILIGHT ZONE... I will never buy another Kenmore product nor will I buy from Sears. If I could give a negative star rating I would... Now I need to go look for a stove as I am raising three grandchildren and they like to eat regular... Guess you get what you pay for... or not!
Well the plastic disk in the roof of my oven is melting and has burn marks. We dont have a warranty or service contract with Sears so they want to charge us $249 to come and LOOK at it. Hello, our microwave is melting and burning inside and this is OUR issue? Sounds like a serious defect. Someone wrote in the Sears website with the same question and it was never answered. So I know I cant be alone in this melting disk microwave issue. Kenmore, WTH!? Will NOT buy from Sears or Kenmore.
I came home to find glass on my kitchen floor and in the dinning area next to the kitchen. Further investigation lead me to the Kenmore gas range oven door. I purchased the range january 2011. Glass was everywhere. No one else lives in my home. I very seldom use the oven. Nothing fell, nothing mysteriously hit the oven door. I called sears to no avail. I purchased a $275.00 moderated protection plan. If this has happened to anyone else please provide me with what you did to resolve the issue. Thanks.
Kenmore range (model # 790.91413010) was purchased in March of 2011. A week or two later, the front control panel on the range fell in. Sears brought another range in the same model out and now this range has the exact same defect. Sears wants us to pay for the repair since warranty is no longer valid. I feel that this is a manufacturers defect or installation defect of the control panel, not something that the consumer should have to be accountable for. Sears/Kenmore needs to be held accountable for their products!
The stovetop grids are so easy to clean, you can lift them completely off and polish the stove surface. Nice variety burners and center for grill, easy to make multiple pancakes at once. Oven is large and easy to clean, racks remove easily.
Its great. I would recommended it. Since I have had it, it has worked very well and has not let me down... not once. I have not had to get it fixed or anything and works as good as when first got it. Have no complaints and is good value for money. Doesnt spin loud like a lot of other washer and dryers. It just looks like any other average washer or dryer. It doesnt look horrible and comes with a wide range of choices such as colors, etc. Its not the cheapest brand but you get what you pay for. I would rather pay more and get a machine that I know works very well and is reliable.
This Kenmore model had high ratings on several websites including Consumer Reports. I did a lot of research and It was definitely the best rated refrigerator in my price range and it had received great reviews from people that already had one. Consumer Reports recommended it. I like the solid construction and that the handles were grips inside the doors instead of on the door where you feel like youll pull the door off. There were lots of drawers and room to organize everything and shelves were able to be rearranged for tall objects. Good constant temperature throughout and freezer never iced over. But Kenmore could make the freezer section larger and make just one shelf on the door. Too crowded with two and hard to fit items in there. Also, maybe add a shelf inside the main part of the freezer to separate meats from other stuff. Had an ice maker which was a nice feature but it always got stuck and was loud and could startle you out of sleep at night. Nevertheless, Kenmore was a great refrigerator and met and even exceeded my expectations. I would buy another Kenmore.
I should have rated the stove at 5 but I did 4 for selfish reasons. I have had this stove for 15 years and all of the featured functions still work. I’m very satisfied with with the outcome of this stove. The only thing is that after this long time of usage it tends to make an odd sound when it is overheated. It sounds like a fan blowing. Otherwise it works very well.
On 1-28-18 we bought a NEW Kenmore Elite Convection Oven with Warmer Drawer. also bought the Warranty Protection. Total sale $2,084.43. First one came damaged. March 2018 received the second one. Good shape, but the delivery guys left clear tape on the inside and left the oven on. When I opened the door the gasket pull off the oven. Took 2 service call to get one installed right. Glass Top is a pain in the butt to clean. You have to use Kenmore Cleaner. Nothing Else Works. Convection (Double Fan) is horrible. Bakes Terrible. No matter how much I try either things are way overdone or doughy in the middle. I hate it. I have had a convection oven for 17 years and I have loved every minute of it. Used convection at all time. Not with this oven! Its is just beyond me how it is so terrible. Sears repair guys came 5 times so far. Now the bottom drawer is rubbing on the underside of the oven where the heating element is. When the oven heats it is expanding the metal under the oven. Now they tell me it will be a Major Rebuild. I was told my a Warranty Supervisor (Alisha) that if the tech came out and confirmed that the problem was indeed what I was saying I would be issued a refund ticket for a new or different oven. Well now they (Milly a different Supervisor) are saying that in order to issue that the oven will have to go under the same repair 4 times in order for that to happen! So 2 repair guys will be coming this month and it will take 3+ hours to repair a defective oven at the cost of about $400.00. The repair guy said he has never done this before so he is bringing another guy with him. So yet another day interrupted by a Sears Repairman that should not even be repairing this oven. We should be able to return it for a full refund or an exchange. Oh and the repair guy first attempted to fix the drawer by bending the sides with a block of wood. Now the drawer is bent and the issue was never the drawer, but the bottom element causing the oven to warp downward against the drawer. It is worse than before he came! When the oven cools it pops back up. It is a factory defect and we should not be treated this way! I stopped using the convection after one repair guy reset it over 35 degrees upward. My cookies were burnt in 2.5 minutes and doughy in the middle. I reset it back to factory temp and gave up. The oven bakes fine at reg bake, but the convection part of it sucks! I have spent hours on the phone with Sears Warranty. I have gone through things like, We cant find your information, You didnt buy a new oven, lost information, complaints not being documented after they say they are writing it down on our account. Either they lie about their names or the next person lies about now knowing another Supervisor. I request a Supervisor and they stall and keep asking me how they can help me. Oh and if you call Sears Warranty and get a gal named Kathleen, just hang up and call again until you get a different person. She is the worst. She cant find anything. She cant type even your number in right. I have dealt with her enough to know just to hang up. If you tick her off shell say she is transferring you, but youll be disconnected. We are now considering loading up our oven on a dolly and taking it back to the Sears Showroom with all the receipts and demanding a refund. Wish us luck. DONT BUY FROM SEARS!!! We have been Sears customers since 1976 and loved them. Now they are the worst company ever! Customers are NOT important to them and neither is keeping their word! Warranty Persons Names to take note of: Kathleen, Milly and Alisha (who now doesnt exist according to Milly).
Purchased a ceramic top Kenmore stove in July 2011. Model #790-92303012. Worked fine until 1/31/2015. Preheated the oven to 350 degrees to bake a pizza. The top surface of the stove was not in use. The pizza had been in the stove for 2 or 3 minutes when the stove began to make screeching noises. The control panel completely lit up, then most of it went dark and smoke began to curl up from the back of the stove. Flames shot up from the back but quickly died away, however the smoke grew more intense.I was able to quickly jerk the stove away from the wall and pull the plug, killing the power. Noticed as I did so that the electrical wires inside the back panel (visible through the slots in the back) were glowing orange. There was smoke damage to the wall behind the stove and the kitchen and half the house had that electrical fire smell - which lingered for a few days. With the power gone and the fuel source (the insulation of the wires) consumed the fire was contained. The stove was obviously shot.Contacted Sears that evening and was given a number to call and was eventually given a claim number. Everyone connected with Sears has been polite but so far there has been no meaningful response, and it is doubtful they will accept any responsibility. Too bad, we have been loyal customers owning a Kenmore refrigerator and a Kenmore Elite microwave. We are fortunate that our homeowners insurance will assist with the purchase of a replacement stove. But Sears Kenmore has a major engineering defect that is inexcusable. After reading comments from other unsatisfied customers there are numerous and more serious hazards connected with Kenmore products. I would not feel safe purchasing a Kenmore stove as a replacement and could not recommend them to anyone.
Purchased oven in 2013. Worked well for a while, but now I am having a problem with the controls. Recently, the oven control panel has started flickering and will not completely shut down when the ovens timer reaches zero. Big disappointment!
I have been trying for over a month to get a replacement part for my Kenmore Elite Over the Range Microwave oven. Sears, Searsparts, or even Sears Customer Service is either UNWILLING or UNABLE to fulfill my request. I will NEVER purchase another Kenmore Elite product. The part I needed is just the light socket that shines down on the range. It seems like such a simple request, however my experience has been most frustrating dealing with Sears or their part department. The part I need is shown below.
I tried to contact customer service and was transferred 6 times, then hung up on! The Kenmore Elite Range of 5 years almost burned my home down this morning. When I called to ask for assistance to determine if the range was safe to be in my home, they wanted to charge me $25 to just talk to someone! Then, they wanted to charge me $89.99 to send some to my home! Yes, I am furious that this company just wanted to collect money and would not help. My home has smoke damage, which I now have to clean due to the malfunction. I will never purchase a Kenmore product again!
Kenmore doesnt cost too much more than the older dishwashers did that are very loud. It was worth the upgrade because of how quiet it runs and how nice it looks. It is also easy to keep clean and the stainless-steel surface doesnt smudge too badly. It blends in well with the other appliances and looks good. Once you use it a few times, you can figure out how to arrange it so that a full sink of dishes all fit. The top shelf doesnt have as much room as it should. Larger cups dont fit on the top and have to be hand-washed. But overall it was a decent value for the money.
Purchased a Kenmore Elite Refrigerator 2.5 years ago. 3 Months ago the Ice maker started dripping water and freezing up. Cost 270.00 for a repair person to come out and realign the water feed to the ice maker. Now the entire unit is not getting cold. $400 worth of parts and a bill to me for $367 plus $99 service fee. The Kenmore Elite Over the stove Microwave purchased a 14 months ago, fan was staying on. Service fee was going to be an additional $249 for the service technician to look at it while he was already at my home. The phone center where you had to call would not discuss any other options and even had the nerve to keep me on the line every time I called trying to sell me a home warranty on appliances that are less than 3 years old!!!Is that what we can expect from Kenmore? For their products to not even last a year after warranties run out? Based on the cost of the $500 a year warranty and $249 service call repair costs they must believe that their equipment will break down at least twice a year for the warranty to be effective or save the consumer money. I Think I will try another Brand.
I really liked its price and its finishes that looked good material and high quality. It was a bargain and a good value for my money that I could invest. It is a very reliable refrigerator, small but does its functions well that are to cool and freeze my products. To be a mid-range brand it worked well for me. The fact that its doors are small is what displeases me about the model. I would have liked some doors more in line with my needs that would occupy more space for the products.
This Kenmore fridge ended up fitting just right to my apartment which fights for space. I was recommended to it by my parents who had a good experience. It did meet my price range based on other brands and the large freezer was a good selling point. I like the ice maker and ease of filtered water. The shelves on the door had great storage options for smalls jars that could not fit anywhere else and the size of the drawers and shelf height were good as well. However, the width of the fridge was awkward, but Im sure there are many odd-sized spaces in different homes. And I didnt like the design of the outside of the fridge. It was ugly and didnt have good color options. Nonetheless, I would buy again.
In Dec 2009 I redid my kitchen and installed a new, black, ceramic top Kenmore kitchen stove. The finish on the back of the stovetop is failing and the paint is peeling off. I have never used harsh cleaners to clean this - always use dishwashing liquid and yet the enamel is all peeling off and the metal is showing through. Has anyone else had this issue? The warranty on this is only one year - really? For a $699.99 appliance?
We were excited about our new Kenmore oven. It was installed today and it took more than one hour to reheat the oven to 400*. After turned off the oven, the fan was on for a while. Its also very loud oven. Its new and we already called Sears for service. Im having red flags already and not sure if I will keep this oven. Do yourself a favor do NOT buy Kenmore.
I purchased a water heater from Sears in 2002 and it began leaking in 2008. That water heater had a 9 year warranty. I had it replaced with a Power Miser 12, with a 12 year warranty. This water heater is now leaking 7 years later. When I called to arrange a replacement, I was told that this warranty is no good since I did not pay extra when it was replace in 2008. I was never told this in all my phone calls to Sears in 2008 and during the horrific process I experienced, in 2008, where I had to find the plumber myself and make all the phone calls and arrangements myself since everything Sears was supposed to be doing and they were not.Now I am told there is no warranty on this Power Miser 12 which is 9 years old. I will never get another appliance from Sears again. In my conversation with the representative he just ended it with I hope the rest of your day goes better. If you are planning on buying a water heater, I suggest you run away from Sears. They are not the company they used to be. They just dont care anymore about reputation. I will be shopping for a new water heater from Home Depot or some big box store.
I have friends and family over a lot, so I have dirty dishes and pots often. I never have to worry about the dishes coming out with food still on them, or my pots. Being single it is perfect for me. Even though I entertain a lot, it handles the big loads, sometimes with space left for more, and I rarely have to worry about a second load. I love the color I chose, gold or yellow because my kitchen is yellow, my stove is yellow, my refrigerator is yellow, my walls are too! It matches just perfectly. This is my first one, and I have never been so done with handwashing. It was worth every dime I paid for it! A definite asset to anyone, you will never handwash again.
The range that I had bought only lasted 8 years. The self cleaning oven ruined my range. That is what the repairman told me. I bought the one year service agreement, so when Sears could not fix the range, I got $500.00 toward a new one. That money was meaningless when we went into the store to buy a new one. When the installer that is contracted out by Sears installed my new range, he talked me into buying a new plug for $50.00, and then left the box that the new range came in for me to dispose of in my trash. He did take the old range, and said he would dispose of it by scraping it. They usually get about $25.00 for scrap. Most of my Sears appliances have needed repair work within the first two years. So I do advise getting the extended warranties. The quality of Sears appliances are not that great. But you get what you pay for!
My 1.8 year old water heater started producing water that is too hot. So, I turned the thermostat setting to Low. Still getting temps of as high as 147 - 157 F. Concerned that grandkids may get burned. If I adjust the setting even a little bit below Low, the temp drops to 92F. Note: Owners manual says Low setting should produce 110F water. Factoring in the possibility of short repeated heating cycles causing expected readings of 20F higher, it is still producing water 10-17F higher than expected with no ability to lower the temp without dropping too much (92F).2May17 - Sears Technician diagnosed and ordered gas control valve (thermostat). 10May17 - Sears Technician installed new valve. Would not start. He conferred with Sears and AO Smith tech support staff. They determined that the valve must be defective. Ordered new valve. Next morning I (the customer) tried heater once again. It worked fine, but produced same hot temps as before.15May17 - Sears technician returned. I shared my temp readings with him. He contacted Sears & AO Smith tech support. They concluded that gas valve was working properly. They rationalized that the problem was related to stacking (short heat cycles). I pointed out that even if we allow an additional 20F for that, it is 10-15F too high with no ability to lower the temperature to a proper range. They suggested installing a mixing valve and checking single handed faucets to see of having any cross-over issues (i.e. turn on cold but still pulling hot water). Closed call but told technician intended to register a product complaint with Sears/AO Smith but I was very satisfied with his service/help. Total labor cost for Service Call: $209. Original cost of heater install $1215.
Less than one year after installing the Kenmore Elite Convection Microwave (and the gas range), the plastic coating on the stainless steel handle began to disintegrate. We ordered a new PLASTIC stainless steel handle for about $80 but then Sears said a repairman would have to install the HANDLE because the entire door has to be disassembled and it needs to be tested afterwards to verify there is no leaking radiation. I am so incredibly disappointed in all of my kitchen appliances. Every one is only three years old now and all are breaking down due to cheap materials.
Bought electric stove in Jan 2011. On Christmas Eve this year, I preheated oven and smelled weird electric or plastic burning smell. Wasnt sure what smell was from, put muffins in to bake. Oven cooked way too hot and burnt muffins in 10 minutes. Turned oven off and sparks, smoke and black ash poured out of top. Called Sears to see what they would do about my stove starting on fire. They were rude and wouldnt do anything other than offer over priced technician that I would have to pay for.Clearly, the oven sparking and smoking was caused by a defect in their product. Afraid for my safety, I unplugged stove until I could hire my own repairman to come and diagnose stove. I would not trust Sears technician anymore than Kenmore product and was not about to pay more money to such a worthless company. Last time I checked, a stove is a purchase that should last longer than two or three years. $260 repair, had to replace control board. I will never purchase another Sears or Kenmore product. Buyer beware!! If you purchase a defective product from this company, you are on your own.
After replacing my Kenmore Elite slide in oven/stove because it was a lemon with too many issues to enumerate, I foolishly choose the next generation thinking it was improved. This stove cannot maintain a temperature for more than 10 minutes before it begins a preheat function and it begins to try to come to temp by firing up the top and/or bottom heating elements effectively ruining any delicate baked goods like cookies or cakes. I will never ever buy a Kenmore product again. In addition even though they market a five element stove top, if you have 2 elements on high and the oven on, the entire unit blows the breakers and fuses (and it is not our wiring/breakers that are malfunctioning). Worst product ever!
Kenmore Electric Range Model 790.9742 - Purchased in April 2010. The racks are no longer and it collapsed during the cooking process due to the oven liner warping and bowing out. Repairman says it is unrepairable and there are no racks available to fix this problem. Sears tells me this is an isolated problem and they have never heard of this problem before. Really?! Its all over the internet on not only Kenmore, but LG, Jenn-Air, Whirlpool, and other brands made for Sears. All Sears will do is give me a 20% discount off a new stove because I did not buy the extended warranty. I sincerely doubt the extended warranty would have covered an oven liner since it is not a replaceable part. It is part of the oven, according to the repairman. I was nearly burned when I pulled out a casserole to check on it. Dutch oven also fell after a few hours while it was cooking in the oven. Luckily, the door stayed closed and the Dutch oven fell straight down. It could have caused a major grease fire. Sears refuses to admit there is a problem with the steel used in the oven liner. Sears no longer stands behind their products. They say they are sorry. I am disappointed in the longevity of my stove. Well, yes, it is only 2 1/2 years old and this shouldnt be happening. It would have happened sooner had I used the self-cleaning oven feature which I have yet to do and it would have caused additional warping and bowing. I have an oven I paid $1000 for and is unusable because I, more than likely, will get burned or a fire will happen due to these racks no longer fitting.
Yesterday morning while my daughter was sitting in her living room the house started to fill with smoke. She went into the kitchen and found smoke billowing out of her electric oven which was not turned on. She got her husband up and he quickly got the stove disconnected and pulled it outside. Later that day they called Sears to send a technician to check out the stove. The technician wrote in his report that the cause of the fire was food that was in the oven. The food was leftover pizza and french fries from the night before. The stove was shut off and not in use, but it heated up by itself. I believe the cause was an electrical short (defect) that caused the oven to heat up and catch fire. The stove was purchased 4/24/2012 and I bought a 5-year warranty on it. Because of what the technician told them, Sears will not honor their warranty.
I bought all 4 appliances at one time, Kenmore elite top of line bottom freezer/ref, dishwasher, microwave and electric stove. Ive owned them for at least 4 years and had problems with all of them. I paid top dollar for junk. What put me to post my displeasure was the refrigerator. About 1 month after warranty expired I began to receive Er 1F messages. I read on internet to pull the plug and it will resolve problems. I did it several times a year since then and problem would resolve and come back again. Now its becoming more frequent and water is now leaking from ice-maker. Going to change fan and motherboard to see if it solves the problem. Dishwasher also top of the line which I had to change major part that failed which caused major flood/water damage to house. Lucky that was still under warranty at the time. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Buyers beware. I signed up to a class action suit regarding refrigerator problems couple years back but did not hear back from group filing lawsuit. Sears and Kenmore should stop selling these inferior products with the elite tag. I had a GE appliances that lasted for 10 years or more which was much cheaper and more reliable than these terrible products. No wonder they were pushing me to purchase extended warranty cause there was known problems with these awful appliances.
We have a 5 and 1/2 month old new home with all new appliances and this Kenmore microwave oven went out five weeks later. It took five weeks to get them out for repairs. It went out again in five weeks. He put everything new in that he thought would make it work. Now about five weeks later, it quit working again. Almost three weeks later, they will be back. We are using an Emerson oven from Wal-Mart we have had for years. There is only two people living in this house. I am 72 and my wife is 70. We are very careful and use our appliances with care. This is our first new home and have bought from Sears for years. We are very, very disappointed in this handling and oven. Could you please give us the service we have given you over the years? We are Christian people who expects the same service as we have given. It is apparent that this is a lemon oven and we expect your cooperation in this matter. We are very disgusted in the oven. We wait upon you for help. Thank you.
We purchased $6,000 worth of Kenmore appliances in 2013 for our new kitchen. The inside sticker in the microwave indicates it was manufactured in China in July of 2013. On December 14, 2014, I opened the microwave and discovered the inside glass on the door had shattered for no obvious reason. I was not using the microwave. I had been cooking on the stove top, but have no idea why it would have shattered, unless there was too much heat? This is obviously a manufacturing defect but when I called Sears, they required I purchase at $259 warranty, even though the product had been installed 14 months ago. This is on top of a two-year-old top load high efficiency washer that wont start without unplugging and replugging in the power source and a refrigerator with an ice maker that was installed wrong and caused much damage from the water leaking. WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER KENMORE PRODUCT.
This stove worked very well until it didnt. Ive had to replace all heating coils several time and it still quits working at the worse of times. Every time Ive used the self-cleaning feature it burns out the oven elements. I do not recommend.
We have a Sears Kenmore self-cleaning oven. Last week the broiler came on, when the oven was off! I thought I smelled something hot in the house and found the oven extremely hot, on the verge of being on fire. After shutting off the breaker and allowing the oven to cool, my husband turned the breaker back on. Oven is still off. The broiler came on. We allowed the oven to cool again. My husband removed the back panel and disconnected the broiler. However, we are not comfortable with the stove and will be replacing it - but Not with a Sears product. My daughter had the same range. Two years ago my granddaughter (age 16) was baking cookies. She put a tray of cookies in the oven, left the room and the self-cleaning came on. The cookies started on fire and she could not open the oven because the self-cleaning lock was on. Stove was a total loss. Lousy product.
Our experience with all Kenmore brand appliances is so great that Kenmore has proven to be one of our choice and go-to brands. We will and have recommended Kenmore and will continue to shop this brand for future needs. Kenmore offers very competitive pricing especially for such a high quality brand. This is a good advantage to save money especially with a large family to support. Having a large family we have always needed quite a bit of room to store our groceries. Our Kenmore refrigerator is big enough to fit what we need it to. The shelves being adjustable has also held significant advantages. Our Kenmore refrigerator is white inside and out and is so easy to keep clean or to wipe away with a gentle swipe when the inevitable spills have occurred.
I purchased a Kenmore Elite Oven Model #790 980 23800 about 4 years ago. Cost over $1,600.00. In the past several months I have noticed the oven racks will fall down. This can be a hazard because of the heat of the pan and possible spilling of contents. I logged onto the web and found a Kenmore site that had a few complaints on this oven. I reached out to a rep there who did have a repair man come out. He stated that it would cost $600.00 to fix, which is unacceptable.Went back to Kenmore and they advised me that since I do not have an extended warranty I would need to pay. They would negotiate the price. I think this is a defect, not something that the consumer should be responsible to fix. According to Kenmore rep if it is a defect then the manufacturer, Frigidaire would be responsible.Today I called Frigidaire and was told once the name Kenmore is on the product and it is sold by Kenmore the liability and rights are Kenmore. Waiting to hear back from Kenmore on Frigidaire’s response. The issue is I as a consumer bought a costly product from Kenmore and unless I buy an extended warranty they do not stand behind the product. Not to mention this issue is a hazard. Someone could get burnt very easily when a hot pan falls in an oven. Please let me know if there is any other steps I can take. Thank you.
I have two. A side by side I bought this spring after moving into this house. The existing recent model top freezer model is now in the utility room with my new Kenmore upright freezer. All 3 are excellently reliable, frost free models. The thermometers I placed in them confirm constant temperatures in both fridge and freezer compartments. I bought my first Kenmore side by side 49 years ago. I left it in a house I sold 34 years later! Reliability draws me to Kenmore. My Kenmore kitchen has a gas range and dishwasher to match the side by side. You can tell I trust and rely on Kenmore appliances.
I purchased a Kenmore oven (model 92703, stainless steel, 5 burner, one rapid boil, convection, self cleaning) from a local Sears appliance store in June 2011 for $850. In December 2015, it stopped working, and the repair guy showed us the electrical panel was burned. We decided to be on the safe side and replaced the whole thing for $330 (plus the $100 service call fee). Almost exactly one year later the broiler element is out, we pulled off the back panel yesterday and sure enough, the electrical panel is burned again. So its a poorly made product, and its cost me over $1000 to own this oven for just over 5 years. It was nowhere near worth that amount of money. Dont ever buy a Kenmore range.
They have good equipment. No problem. l would tell everyone that need stove, washer, dishwasher, and all appliances from Kenmore. I have a Kenmore freezer. A Kenmore dishwasher. When my dishes stop working they came out to check and got it fix it. My friend is buying a washer and dryer on Oct.3. 2015 from Kenmore.
Kenmore has always been a leader in appliances and I have a wonderful stove that is easy to clean and includes enough room to cook a Thanksgiving meal! It has electronic ignition which has revolutionized lighting pilots on the stove top and an igniter that engages in the oven once a certain temperature is reached! I’m sure all brands include this technology but I’ve researched by virtue of customer reviews that Kenmore shines in less repairs overall! In appearance, it is beautiful and enhances the aesthetic value of your kitchen! Easy, understandable controls keep you adept of the functionality and less time reading handbooks! All in all, I have been quite content in my satisfaction of the Kenmore label! Congratulations to an innovative dependable company????
It took me 2 years to get my oven fixed after I moved into my new house. I put up with what I now call customer abuse from Sears which included the franchise owner calling me a idiot for calling the 800 number in case of malfunction to the oven. Sent off for repairs 3 times for weeks. A young repair boy came to the house and told me it could not be fixed and when I slapped papers that I was holding down on the kitchen table he claimed I had assaulted him. And when Sears finally sent out another repairman a year later, it was the same boy and I refused him entry into my house! Finally a local repairman replaced the motherboard and it has worked well until it simply blew up today.I will never ever again in my life buy anything... absolutely nothing! From Sears ever again! It is overpriced junk made in a foreign country. They are bleeding every penny they can get from a name that use to mean quality, workmanship, and service. They cannot even be civil to customers anymore. I would not buy a speck of dust from them. If there was. Rating lower than one dot, that is the rating I would give Sears for anything! My one dot does not mean I am angry.... it means Sears is a rip-off company now.
I had the original Maytag Gemini double oven range. I have now had the Kenmore Elite Double Oven Range for 2+ years. The new range is far superior. Of course the double ovens being the same size is a great help. Overall, the technology of the Kenmore range is fabulous. I have one main concern, though.... why dont they poll people that own these expensive appliances and ask us what features we want, need or desire? The timer on this range drives me INSANE! Its non-stop, and could seriously wake the dead. I know there is no way to make my second need happen, but, the bottom oven opens onto the floor..... very hard to lift something heavy in and out. Overall, though, this range is far superior to the Gemini.
I purchased a Whirlpool built HE Oasis Washer, Kenmore brand but Whirlpool constructed. It really is a piece of junk. I paid right at $1,000 in the fall of 2008 and within three months, I needed a service call. Then right after the one year warranty, I needed several parts replaced and now one year after, it has three error codes. Everyone is recommending the LG machines for everything because they last much longer! I am certainly not going to throw my money away on a Whirlpool appliance any longer. I went through the same thing with our refrigerator and microwave. I bought Whirlpool in 1980 and swore by it. I didnt replace an appliance (purchased washer, dryer, stove, refrigerator and dishwasher) all at the same time in June of 1980. All appliances lasted for 15+ years. Now, Whirlpool doesnt make anything to last! Large appliances are much too expensive to have to replace every three to five years!
Kenmore 790944464702 range was replaced under warranty once. Call in multiple times after with electric burning smell when using oven. Flashing stove top light. Repair could not fix and went out of warranty. Finally the circuit board burnt up. Wires melted to board. Was required to order a new boarded for $200 and wire harness for $200. Lucky it didnt burn down the house. Junk it and DO NOT BUY SEARS! Model kenmore 790944464702. JUNK.
In the fall of 2017, we underwent a kitchen remodel and as part of that, had a Kenmore Electric Built-In Oven Model 790.4942 installed. So, it is only barely over a year old. Since the beginning we have had issues with it. The first time I used the self-clean function, about 3 months after installation, large brown spots appeared between the inner and outer glass on the front of the oven. A technician came out and said this was the result of using the self-clean function and not to use it! He said it was a problem and he didnt know why Kenmore kept using this function, with the same result!Since then, I had food consistently undercooked and purchased an oven thermometer. After following the instructions, I found that if setting the oven for 350 degrees, it only came to 325 degrees, so I followed the instructions to re-calibrate it, by upping the temperature 20 degrees. Then, things were cooking through, but scorching/burning on the bottom, so once again I used the oven thermometer and it indicated that although the oven was set for 350 degrees, it was now cooking at 375 degrees! I cant seem to get it right and Im frustrated. We paid $1,000 for this oven and it is not nearly as good or efficient as my GE 13 year old oven in the house I previously lived in!
I recently noticed rust around the bleach dispenser of my Kenmore top loading washer Mod 796 2900 2000. I called Sears and was told to call the Rework department at 1-800-659-7026. I spoke to several folks to include John, Jose and Paul (no last name or employee number was given) and 2 out of three said there was a RECALL on this model number and one said there was not. The final person that I spoke to said there was a recall and actually scheduled a technician to come out and service my machine. I asked specifically, since this is under a recall I do not have to pay the service charge right? and I was told, that is correct. When the tech called to tell me he was coming he said he would have to charge me because this was not a covered call. I then called 1800-549-4505 and spoke to Zack. He told me that it is not a recall but a Service Flash (SF26-813). I was told that the Service flash covered the parts and all I was responsible for was the trip charge of $85-$89 and if you are given any problems have them call to this number (1800-469-4663) and reference the SF number. The tech called me back and again said he verified and was told that this was not covered and that I would have to be charged. I asked for their departments number so I can have the dept. that I spoke to talk to their dept. but they would not give the number. I called the 800-469-4663 and spoke to Anna (employee number **) and she said that she read off the notes from the last phone call that my washer was not covered because of the serial number range. So basically, Sears personnel are not all trained the same (leadership/management problem), because of this Sears/Kenmore wouldnt take care of a defective product that they sold me for a large amount of money. Granted, it is not under warranty any more but I thought the company would take care of a defective problem regardless because of their name and reputation. It probably would have been cheaper to fix a problem at somewhere around $200-$400 than to lose all the customers that this event is going to cause. I have made numerous phone calls to see if Sears/Kenmore would address this problem but to no avail. If you are considering buying a Kenmore appliance of any kind please do research beforehand and reconsider.
The stove (2011 Kenmore Elite white double oven stove) was purchased in 8/2011. The puppet oven no longer heats up quickly and takes 45-60 minutes to heat to the desired temperature. Unfortunately, the model number has worn off, and Sears cannot give me a correct model for the double, not single, oven from their records. Therefore, the repair guy left without having done anything except charging $99.00 for the house call. I guess I am going to have to use the one oven that works until it doesn’t. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
All my appliances have been Kenmore all my adult life. I own a washer, dryer, refrigerator, stove, dishwasher and freezer that is 25 years old. I have never had a problem with any of my appliances. (Knock on wood!!)
