Air Conditioner Repair

Armstrong manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of Armstrong appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.

Maintenance and service must be performed by a qualified installer or service agency.

At the beginning of each cooling season, the system should be checked as follows:
1. Clean and inspect condenser coil. Coil may be flushed with a water hose. Be sure the power is off before using water to clean the coil.
2. Outdoor fan motor is pre-lubricated and sealed. No further lubrication is needed.
3. Visually inspect connecting lines and coils for evidence of oil leaks.
4. Check wiring for loose connections.
5. Check for correct voltage at unit (with unit operating).

Indoor Coil
1. Clean coil, if necessary.
2. Check connecting lines and coils for evidence of oil leaks.
3. Check condensate pan line and clean, if necessary.

Indoor Unit
1. Clean or change filters.
2. Adjust blower speed for cooling. Measure the pressure drop over the coil to determine the correct blower CFM.
3. Belt drive blowers: Check belt for wear and proper tension.
4. Check all wiring for loose connections.
5. Check for correct voltage at unit (with unit operating).
6. Check amp-draw on blower motor.

My home is not getting heat

Your gas might not be on
Check the gas valve at your gas meter, the shutoff valve at the furnace and any other shutoff valves. If any are OFF, call the gas company or your local Armstrong Air dealer to have the gas valves turned back on.

Your system might be turned off or your unit might be unplugged
Check that all your HVAC equipment is plugged, including the outdoor unit and thermostat.

A circuit breaker may have been tripped in your home
Locate your circuit breaker box (or electrical panel). They are typically located on an inside wall at the back of the house. Check the circuit breaker box and make sure breakers are in the ON position. Also check that the disconnect switch (located near the air conditioner or heat pump) is ON. You may need to reset your circuit breaker.

Incorrect setting on your thermostat or your thermostat may simply be OFF
Check that your thermostat is ON and set to HEAT. Make sure that the thermostat is set higher than the indoor temperature currently showing on the thermostat.

Blocked filter
Check the furnace or air handler filter to see if it is blocked with dust and dirt. If so, change the filter. Remember to change your filter approximately once a month.

There is no airflow

Blocked filter
Check all the filters in your HVAC system components. Follow the recommendations in your user’s manual for cleaning and replacing your filters.

Dirty coil may have frozen your system
Check your indoor unit and see if there is evidence of water below the unit. Feel for a cold surface on the indoor coil enclosure. You can turn OFF your thermostat for 1–3 hours to see if it will defrost. Contact a certified repair person if the problem persists.

Dirty or blocked ductwork
Check your indoor unit to see (or hear) if the blower is running. Then go to different vents in your house to feel for airflow. If you do not feel any air, contact a certified repair person for duct cleaning services.

The drain pan is overflowing

The overflow switch is likely not functioning
Turn your system OFF and contact a certified repair person.

My unit runs all the time

Your thermostat setting might be too high or low
Adjust your thermostat during extremely hot or cold days so that your heating and cooling system doesn’t have to work so hard.

My utility bills are higher than normal

Your system is not reaching its thermostat setting
If your outdoor temperatures are constantly in the extreme, you may experience higher-than-average utility bills as your system tries to keep up with extremely hot or cold weather conditions.

Your utility company may have had a recent rate increase
Check with your local utility company to ask about recent rate increases. Ask them about ways to conserve energy with your existing equipment. It may be time to think about upgrading your equipment for greater energy efficiency.

Are you using a new appliance that uses a lot of power (hot tub, pool heater, sauna, etc.)?
You may consider turning the appliance ON for shorter periods of time or completely OFF when not in use.

Armstrong gas furnace is available in the online market, and all you have to do is to make an order of the same and then have a contractor install it. Some consumers are also buying them directly from contractors. Most service calls on Armstrong gas furnace are due to human error on poor maintenance and poor installation of the furnace.

Armstrong is a quality brand. I say this because my neighbor has had a Trane and a Rheem in a span of 6 years. I think he got ripped off twice by two companies. My ac has been in service for the last two years and I haven’t spent a dime to fix it. It’s a good deal but you appreciate it more when all you read online is about bad experiences and disgruntled customers. Hurray for Armstrong, I strongly suggest you check them out before your AC or replace an old one.

Before I posted this I looked through the reviews and found that there are plenty of people who have had a bad experience with Armstrong. I’m glad I haven’t had to deal with any malfunctions. It’s been a year and a half now and so far the AC keeps the house cool and has great energy efficiency.

I bought this new unit to replace one I had for 20 years. The main reason I replaced it was because of efficiency issues plus difficulty in finding parts. This Armstrong I bought works well though. I haven’t had any trouble with it for the ten months I’ve had it. Good ac with great functionality.

Moving to a new place is expensive, especially if you have lots of repairs to take care of. For me, the worst thing is moving in and having to bear with the scorching heat just because the ac doesn’t work. When we moved in here the ac was one of the first things I made sure were functioning. I replaced the old Carrier I found with an Armstrong unit. So far I can’t complain about its functionality. The unit cools the house so well and isn’t one bit noisy.

2 years and nothing is the problem. If only every other manufacturer made such reliable equipment. The Armstrong AC I bought 2 years ago hasn’t had any problems apart from a Freon leak that was fixed under the warranty. I’m looking forward to many more years with this unit.

I purchased this gas furnace model about four years ago for my old uncle, and then he is yet to have any problems with this furnace model. We all know the Ultra series is quite expensive but according to my experience, the quality is worth the high price. Most expensive products tend to be of high quality and also last longer. I would buy this product again and also I would, without a doubt, recommend it to anyone. My parents and my friends have often used the Armstrong products which made me try them, and I hope that I will get value for my money as well.

I Installed my Armstrong Ultra Series in November 2003. It works well each day from the day I got it installed. It is quite useful, and it always heats the house to desired temperatures during the very cold days and cools to the needed temperature during the scorching days of summer. The unit has not had any repairs all these years, and the fan runs throughout filtering and circulating the air. I could not imagine any better system, and I would highly recommend this model to anyone who wants a top notch gas furnace although the price is a little bit too high.

After six years of owning this unit, I have had only two repairs, and I can frankly tell that it works efficiently just as it is supposed to do. Additionally, after doing the two repairs, I have experienced tremendous energy savings as my power and gas bills have gone down with clear margins. I would recommend any person to buy Armstrong and get the best value for your money. The key to having your gas furnace to last long enough is to have a good installer, most likely the contractor or a technician with enough experience on installation. The poor installation will make the system fail even after a few months, and then you will blame the manufacturer which is not fair at all.
