Blaze Gas Grill Repairs

If you're looking for help fixing your Blaze Gas Grill, look no further! Our comprehensive Blaze Gas Grill repair guide will explain common issues, provide tips, and maybe show you how to repair your appliance.

How To Check a Gas BBQ for Gas Leaks
It only takes a few moments to check for a gas leak. We recommend that you check for gas leaks each time you connect your regulator or natural gas hose to the barbecue, or after long periods of storage.
Follow these steps to test for a gas leak:
Make sure your gas supply is turned off and all control knobs are in the OFF position.
Inspect all hoses on the grill, looking closely for signs of deterioration such as cracking, abrasions, holes, or tears. Ensure all the hoses are tightly connected and that there are no sharp bends or kinks in the gas line.
Check the gas cylinder for rust, dents, bulges, corrosion, punctures, or other signs of damage.
Mix a 50/50 solution of water and dish soap and apply it to the gas hose and connections points with a spray bottle or with a clean brush.
Open the gas supply, but do NOT turn on the control knobs or light the grill. Do NOT smoke while testing for gas leaks.
Inspect the hose and connection points. If you see growing bubbles forming at any point, this indicates a gas leak.
Turn off the gas supply.

How To Fix Low Flame and Low Temperatures
If you’re experiencing low flame and low temperatures, start by resetting your grill’s gas regulator. All gas grills have a propane regulator that controls the flow of gas from the propane tank to the grill, and this regulator is one of the most common reasons why a bbq is not getting hot enough.
Since the mid-90s, all gas grills regulators must also come equipped with a safety device called a flow-limiting device, or “Overfill Protection Device” (OPD). The flow-limiting device prevents the grill from being overfilled with gas or releasing more gas if it senses there is already gas trapped in the line or manifold. It’s easy to inadvertently activate this safety device even if you don’t have a gas leak, especially if you turn on the control knobs before you turn on the propane tank valve. In this case, the safety valve will not fully open until the gas pressure has been equalized between the tank and the grill, and your grill is in something called “bypass mode”. When this happens, your grill will only ever reach temperatures between 250 and 300, even with all the burners turned to the highest setting.
Inadvertently triggering your grill’s “bypass mode” is one of the most common causes of low flames and low temperatures. Don’t worry—resetting or adjusting the gas grill regulator and flow-limiting device is easy and only takes a few moments.

How to Check for Loose Connections
If you have high heat but it’s uneven or you’re seeing yellow or orange flame, the venturi tubes may not be properly aligned or they may be obstructed by food debris or insects. That means it’s time to check for obstructions or loose connections.
Start by using a bottle brush or special venturi brush to clean out the gas tubes—spiders and insects like to set up shop in these tiny tubes and are a common source of blockages. Once you’ve cleaned them out with a brush, follow these steps to check the connections:
Locate the venturi tube adjustment screw you’ll use to release the shutters in step 3.
Light the grill and turn it to low.
Loosen the screw and open the shutters till the flame is mostly blue.
Turn off the gas and tighten the adjustment screw.
Let your grill cool.
Once the grill has cooled, you can check the burner for clogged gas holes. Drippings can run over the heat plates and burners and clog the ports. These are usually spotted by observing how the grill burns—if there are spots without flames, you might have a clogged burner. If so, all you need is a wire brush to remove these deposits and restore normal gas flow. Simply clean the burner with a brush or let it burn on high for 15 minutes.

I bought this grill from BBQ guys about 6 years ago. I've loved cooking on the grill. It has an even heat stainless grates are very solid. There has been no wear on the cooking grates at all. I had some issues with the burners beginning to rust and some holes forming in the flame tamers. I sent pictures to Blaze and explained the issue. No questions asked the mailed me 3 new burners and 3 new flame tamers. Had them in hand within a few days. It was about $1K in parts and they replaced them without flinching. A good product with a great warranty that they honor. Definitely recommend.

I looked around for a long time and wanted something that was well built and that it is. This grill is more heavy-duty than anything I have seen. Due to the heavy construction it does take longer to heat up. Lighting is another plus as most of my grilling is in the evening. This is a nice addition to my outdoor cooking area. I have two other grills a green egg and an infrared grill. I plan to do rack of lamb tonight on the blaze for the first time. I will braze the lamb on the infrared grill and set the Blaze to low heat. Everything I have tried has turned out well. The only problem I encountered is only two screws hold the grill to the cart in the front. Nothing in the back so when moving the grill around the back end will shift to the left or right and if you don't have the cart shelves set just right it will interfere closing the shelf.

This is the best built grill that I have purchased. After several new home builds and premium grills installed I bought the Blaze after doing my research and was amazed in the quality of the product. Everything about this grill is well built, easy to clean and made to last for years. I am ordering another grill with access doors for my new home that I will hopefully retire in. Thanks for offering this product.

What a terrific grill. Solid, well-built, and great looking. More important
What a terrific grill. Solid, well-built, and great looking. More importantly, it cooks very evenly across the entire cooking area. The burners and grates and SOLID!!! (Take them out before you try to lift this puppy - they are incredibly heavy, which bodes quite well for their durability). Just tried the rotisserie and it works like a charm.
