Bottom oven element not getting hot enough

Last week the bottom element in my oven small fire, and today I replaced it with a new one. Tonight when I tried to use my oven, bottom element seems to be getting somewhat hot, but not hot enough. My oven has preheated to 310 and seems to be stuck there. Does anyone have any ideas for what could be the problem? I am sure I screwed it in correctly, but I didn't reattach the cover piece for it yet because I wanted to make sure the element was working first.


Pictures are of the old element where it caught fire, and the new element installed.


I would appreciate any ideas you have. Thank you.
