Air Conditioner Error Codes

CODE: Green "POWER". 
PROBLEM: Module has power. 
FIX: Supply voltage is present at module terminals. 

CODE: Red "TRIP". 
PROBLEM: Thermostat demand signal. Y1 is present, but the compressor is not running. 
FIX: 
Compressor protector is open. 
Outdoor unit power disconnect is open. 
Compressor circuit breaker or fuse(s) is open. 
Broken wire or connector is not making contact. 
Low pressure switch open if present in system. 
Compressor contactor has failed open. 

CODE: Yellow "ALERT" - Flash Code 1. 
PROBLEM: Long Run Time - Compressor is running extremely long run cycles. 
FIX: 
Low refrigerant charge. 
Evaporator blower is not running. 
Evaporator coil is frozen. 
Faulty metering device. 
Condenser coil is dirty. 
Liquid line restriction (filter drier blocked if present in system). 
Thermostat is malfunctioning. 

CODE: Yellow "ALERT" - Flash Code 2. 
PROBLEM: System Pressure Trip - Discharge or suction pressure out of limits or compressor overloaded. 
FIX: 
High head pressure. 
Condenser coil poor air circulation (dirty, blocked, damaged). 
Condenser fan is not running. 
Return air duct has substantial leakage. 
If low pressure switch present in system, check Flash Code 1 information. 

CODE: Yellow "ALERT" - Flash Code 3. 
PROBLEM: Short Cycling - Compressor is running only briefly. 
FIX: 
Thermostat demand signal is intermittent. 
Time delay relay or control board defective. 
If high pressure switch present go to Flash Code 2 information. 
If low pressure switch present go to Flash Code 1 information. 

CODE: Yellow "ALERT" - Flash Code 4. 
PROBLEM: Locked Rotor. 
FIX: 
Run capacitor has failed. 
Low line voltage (contact utility if voltage at disconnect is low). 
Excessive liquid refrigerant in compressor. 
Compressor bearings are seized. 

CODE: Yellow "ALERT" - Flash Code 5. 
PROBLEM: Open Circuit. 
FIX: 
Outdoor unit power disconnect is open. 
Compressor circuit breaker or fuse(s) is open. 
Compressor contactor has failed open. 
High pressure switch is open and requires manual reset. 
Open circuit in compressor supply wiring or connections. 
Unusually long compressor protector reset time due to extreme ambient temperature. 
Compressor windings are damaged. 

CODE: Yellow "ALERT" - Flash Code 6. 
PROBLEM: Open Start Circuit. Current only in run circuit. 
FIX: 
Run capacitor has failed. 
Open circuit in compressor start wiring or connections. 
Compressor start winding is damaged. 

CODE: Yellow "ALERT" - Flash Code 7. 
PROBLEM: Open Run Circuit - Current only in start circuit. 
FIX: 
Open circuit in compressor run wiring or connections. 
Compressor run winding is damaged. 

CODE: Yellow "ALERT" - Flash Code 8. 
PROBLEM: Welded Contactor - Compressor always runs. 
FIX: 
Compressor contactor has failed closed. 
Thermostat demand signal not connected to module. 

CODE: Yellow "ALERT" - Flash Code 9. 
PROBLEM: Low Voltage - Control circuit < 17VAC. 
FIX: 
Control circuit transformer is overloaded. 
Low line voltage (contact utility if voltage at disconnect is low).

Furnace Error Codes

CODE: LED flashing like a heartbeat  
PROBLEM: Control has 24 VAC power  

CODE: Two LED flashes  
PROBLEM: Unit’s pressure switch didn’t open  
FIX: Check for an obstruction in the pressure tubing 

CODE: Three LED flashes  
PROBLEM: Unit’s pressure switch didn’t close or reopened  
FIX: Check for: excessive wind; if it’s the proper vent size; defective inducer motor; defective pressure switch; inadequate combustion air supply; disconnected or obstructed pressure tubing; or restricted vent 

CODE: Four LED flashes  
PROBLEM: Limit circuit fault: either a limit or flame rollout is open  
FIX: Check for: restricted vent; loose blower wheel; excessive wind; dirty air filter; or defective blower 

CODE: Five LED flashes  
PROBLEM: An abnormal flame proving signal, the flame is likely proved while the gas valve is de-energized  
FIX: Check for a leaky gas valve or a gas valve that is stuck open 

CODE: Six LED flashes  
PROBLEM: Failure to ignite or the flame sensor was lost while running  
FIX: Check for: an ungrounded flame sensor; defective hot surface ignitor; control ground continuity; inadequate flame carryover; or rough ignition 

CODE: Seven LED flashes  
PROBLEM: Limit circuit lockout  
FIX: A lockout will occur if the limit or flame rollout is open for longer than 3 minutes. Control will auto-reset after 3 hours. 

CODE: Eight LED flashes  
PROBLEM: Gas heating lockout, control won’t auto-reset  
FIX: Check for a miswired gas valve or a defective control valve 

CODE: Ten LED flashes  
PROBLEM: Polarity is reversed  
FIX: Review instructions to correct polarity 

CODE: 1 + 2  
PROBLEM: Blower is on after power up  
FIX: Occurs if the unit is powered up during a call for heat or opens while the blower is on delay 

CODE: 6 + 1  
PROBLEM: Ignition lockout  
FIX: Control will auto-reset after 3 hours 

CODE: LED is off  
PROBLEM: Secondary voltage fuse is open  
FIX: Check whether the door switch isn’t closed or for a short circuit 

CODE: LED is on  
PROBLEM: Control circuitry lockout  
FIX: Will auto-reset after 1 hour 

CODE: LED is solid  
PROBLEM: Gas valve relay is stuck while open, flame sense circuit failure, or software-check error  
FIX: Reset power to clear the lockout and then replace control if status code repeats itself
