Lynx Appliance Repair

In 1996, there was a moment of truth. A small group of visionaries had spent more than 30 years building commercial-quality stainless steel equipment for restaurants. But they wanted to try something new. They wanted to apply the same high standards, premier materials, skilled craftsmanship, and never-ending innovation to the world of outdoor cooking. They wanted to take outdoor cooking beyond the grill—expand it to a luxury experience, with craft and quality that ensured it would last, year after year. And so Lynx began—with a small catalog, and a moment of truth: How would the world respond? The world embraced the beautiful Lynx craftsmanship that earned a review as “the world’s greatest grill.” The Lynx proprietary welding technique helped ensure that corners were seamless, eliminating gaps where residues could collect and giving each piece a trademark gleam. Now outdoor kitchens have gained renown, and the Lynx catalog has grown.

Gas Grill Repair

The Grill Won’t Turn On
Whether your grill has a push-start igniter or is battery powered, there might come a time when your grill isn’t turning on or heating up like it used to. A grill that is battery operated sometimes needs a simple battery replacement. However, those with push-start igniters that won’t generate an initial spark could either mean that the igniter is clogged, it has a faulty button, or it needs a wiring repair. If it’s just a clog, you can easily find the affected igniter by removing the cooking grates to inspect the burners and clean them if needed. If it seems that the problem is button or wiring related, then you might need to contact a service technician to get these parts replaced.

The Flame Won’t Stay Lit
If your grill is turning on but the flames repeatedly extinguish, it could be caused from one of three common issues. First check and make sure that the grill is preheated properly and ready for a flame. Then, ensure that the tubes that connect the burner to the control valve are positioned directly over the valve orifice. Finally, make sure those tubes are clean, clear, and free of blockage. If the flame still remains in its stubborn ways, the igniter itself might need repaired or replaced by a service technician.

The Grill Produces Black Smoke
When your grill is producing a massive amount of smoke, especially black smoke, this usually means that it’s time for a cleaning. Excessive build-up of grease on your grill will not only smog out your kitchen, but it can also create a toxic black coating on your food. If black smoke is what’s holding back your grilling efforts, give it a good cleaning beforehand then preheat the grill for 15 minutes. This will help burn off any unwanted residue from previous use. If you are still seeing that ugly black smoke after cleaning, check and clean the venturi tubes and air shutters to make sure that it is producing a proper gas-to-air mixture.

The Grill Is Making Strange Noises
It’s common to hear a strange humming noise come from your grill. This sound is usually a result of environmental factors, such as air temperature, pressure or humidity. Sometimes humming noises can even mean that the gas tank is low or too full. If you are noticing that your grill is making unusual sounds, it’s important to first check your grill for any leaks. If the grill is leak-free, it could just mean that an air bubble is trapped in the gas hose. Your owner’s manual will most likely contain instructions on how to purge the hose. If the humming noise accompanies the alarming smell of propane, it’s time to turn the grill off completely and call a service technician for a professional inspection.

The Flame is Yellow or Orange
This problem is similar to that of black smoke, as it’s usually a result of a clogged venture tube. It would be beneficial to check the control valve and the tubes for any obstructions that might disturb the flow of the fuel. If you find that the tubes are just misaligned, you can easily adjust them by following the instructions in your owner’s manual.

The Grill Cooks Food Unevenly
The main culprit for a grill that cooks unevenly is a blocked burner. It’s very common for excess drippings to clog the ports along the sides of the burners. Check around the burners to ensure that they are producing a flame and use a wire brush to remove any deposits and promote a normal gas flow.
As with all commercial cooking appliances, it’s important to make sure that you are always practicing safe habits when troubleshooting a malfunctioning grill. Before inspecting any of these common issues, be sure that the tank valve is turned off, the grill is disconnected, and completely cooled down.

We love this grill when it works, but the Igniter and FlameTrak system are deeply flawed. The first electrical adapter did not work out of the box. The replacement one worked for a few months and now will not consistently spark. Such a potentially great, beautiful, and EXPENSIVE grill and it jus doesn't work or won't stay lit because they went with a cheap source of power supplies. It also won't stay lit because the FlameTrak system doesn't work properly. Also, they make a big deal about how it is warranted for life. Only the burners are warranted for life. All the parts that never break are warranted for 5 years. The parts that do break are only warranted for 2 years, and you have to pay for labor to have it fixed after a year. So now I have to pay a guy to come unplug and plug in a power supply, which I can do myself if I could just get them to send it to me. But, since it is warranted through BBQ guys I can't go directly to Lynx. I love BBQ guys, but hate this grill. Hey BBQ guys, stop carrying and selling this VERY EXPENSIVE product until they fix this flaw.

This is our second Lynx grill, and the first one purchased approximately 5 years ago was wonderful... which is what convinced me to spend this much on a second one. The second one was purchased after Lynx's acquisition by Viking and shows a significant decline in quality. The new ceramic burners are a down grade from the previous brass versions, and will wear our over time. No better than "cheap grill" stainless steel burners in my opinion. The ignition system does wear out as well. Not to mention, upon receiving the grill, there was damage that needed to be repaired (2 months to fix...). We are 2 years in to the ownership of our second Lynx, and I would explicitly not recommend the purchase of one.

4 different repairs in first year of ownership. Performance of grill (when it's not broken) is excellent. But it is usually in need of repairs.

The power to the rotisserie no longer works after aprox 2 years, and the igniters have been intermittent since aprox 6 months, this grill is covered and on a screen porch, the igniters should work better then that. I have a ten year old Weber and the igniters still work perfect!

This is the BEST high end Professional/Commercial rated grill you can get.
This is the BEST high end Professional/Commercial rated grill you can get. I owned 3 other high-end $1k-$3k range grills in the past and they were good but does not compare to this one. This grill as any professional-rated appliance might require some adjustments when you install it, such as the openings in the burners, orifice, and even knobs to avoid any "bang" noise from the burners! The igniters in this grill are the best in the industry it uses a glow igniter which is durable, reliable and efficient. It achieves top temperature within 12-15 minutes on high output making it faster than the competition claims. Also, flareups are minimum at least with my configuration! I have only one infrared burner! "I can't speak for those with the ALL INFRARED burners" now of course if you place a super fat piece of any meat, it might have some flareups but that will happen with any grill! Just use some common sense while grilling. I recommend going with ONE INFRARED burner! These infrared burners are super powerful and it might burn your food super fast! Unless you want to have your eye on the food every second of grilling go with the ONE INFRARED burner! Bottom line... this is the best-built quality grill out there, its a grill for a lifetime! I grill an average of 3-4x per week and I do a full detailed cleaning every 3-4 months, like any high-end appliance you have to maintain it. No complaints from here! Excellent grill.
