Toshiba Appliance Troubleshooting

Toshiba Corporation is a Japanese multinational conglomerate headquartered in Minato, Tokyo. Its diversified products and services include power, industrial and social infrastructure systems, elevators and escalators, electronic components, semiconductors, hard disk drives, printers, batteries, lighting, as well as IT solutions such as quantum cryptography. It was one of the biggest manufacturers of personal computers, consumer electronics, home appliances, and medical equipment. As a semiconductor company and the inventor of flash memory, Toshiba had been one of the top 10 in the chip industry until its flash memory unit was spun off as Toshiba Memory, later Kioxia, in the late 2010s.

Air Conditioner Troubleshooting

The floor is not level. Place the unit on a flat, level surface.
The air filter is blocked with dust or animal hair.

The unit makes a gurgling sound
This sound is caused by the flow of refrigerant inside the unit. This is normal.

Unit stops frequently
The exhaust hose is blocked, extended or otherwise restricted. Remove the exhaust hose to see if the unit continues to operate. If yes, shorten the extension, reduce the number of bends or eliminate restriction.

Microwave Troubleshooting

Toshiba Microwave not heating
The diode converts the A/C power output of the transformer to D/C, doubling the voltage to nearly 5,000 volts. This high voltage powers the magnetron to heat the food. If the diode burns out, the magnetron won’t receive enough voltage to operate, preventing the microwave from heating. When the diode fails, it is often visibly burned out. Inspect the diode and if the diode is burned out, replace it. If inspecting the diode proves inconclusive, test it with a multimeter that uses a 9-volt battery or put a 9-volt battery in series with the diode. When the leads are reversed, the diode should only have continuity in one direction. (Warning: The microwave oven can store a lethal amount of electricity in its high voltage capacitor, even after the microwave oven has been unplugged. Due to the high running voltage and the potential for electric shock, it is extremely dangerous to replace the electronic components in a microwave. Only a licensed technician should replace the diode.)

Toshiba Microwave light bulb not working
The light bulb itself might be burned out. Replace the light bulb before replacing any of the parts associated with the light bulb. Before replacing the control, check the light bulbs, sockets, and wiring. If these parts seem to be working properly, test the control board with a multimeter to determine if it sending the correct voltage to the light bulb socket. If the control board is not sending enough voltage to the light bulb socket, replace the control board. Before replacing the light socket, replace the light bulb. If you replace the light bulb, and the light still doesn’t work, use a multimeter to test the light socket for continuity. If the light socket does not have continuity, replace it. If the microwave runs for a few seconds and stops the touchpad might be at fault. This is not common. Generally speaking, if the microwave display is working and some of the buttons respond correctly but some don’t, the problem is with the touchpad.

Toshiba Microwave shuts off after a few seconds
A door switch might be failing intermittently. Check each of the door switches for signs of overheating, arcing, or burning. If you don’t see any obvious signs of failure, use a multimeter to test each switch for continuity. If any of the switches is visibly damaged or only has intermittent continuity, replace it. Control boards are often misdiagnosed—before replacing the control board, first check more commonly defective parts, particularly the door switches. If all of the other components are working properly, replace the control board.

Toshiba Microwave turntable not turning
Use a multimeter to test the motor for continuity. If the turntable motor does not have continuity, replace it.
If the microwave turntable is not turning the glass tray drive coupling could be broken or stripped out. Gently pull the coupling off the drive motor shaft to inspect the drive coupling for damage.
If the microwave turntable is not turning the glass tray support could be broken or stripped out. Gently pull the support off the drive motor shaft to inspect the tray support for damage.

Toshiba Microwave buttons not working
To determine if the touchpad is defective, try pressing each of the buttons on the control panel. If some of the buttons respond correctly while others don’t, replace the touchpad.
To determine if the touchpad and control panel are defective, try pressing each of the buttons on the control panel. If some of the buttons respond correctly while others don’t, replace the touchpad and control panel.
To determine if the control and display board is defective, try pressing each of the buttons on the control panel. If none of the buttons are responding correctly, replace the user control and display board.

Television Troubleshooting

Check for Loose Cable
Reset the visual and audio input connections to confirm that there are no loose cords causing the TV to go blank. So, check the associated cable devices and detach them, then re-plug them and see if the signal comes back.

Replace HDMI Cable
If you have a black screen as a result of a flaw in your HDMI cable, you will need to replace it.

Turn off Power Save Mode
Some televisions will switch off automatically, however, if no movement is detected, a sound will be heard, indicating that power saving mode has been enabled. Check to see whether the TV is in energy-saving mode, and if it is, use the remote to return it to regular display mode, as this is one of the causes of TV black screens.

Reset Your Toshiba Smart TV
Switch off the TV for a few minutes, then press and hold the power button on your TV for at least 30 seconds to reset it. Still, it is not working, it may be a problem with the defective power supply board then replace the board.

Faulty Power supply Board
If the power supply board fails, the TV will have the power light on but no sound or picture. If you’ve tried everything and your TV screen is still black, it’s time to replace the power supply board.

Issue with TV Column
If your Toshiba TV has a black screen, the TV panel may have been damaged. In this instance, you should carefully assess whether or not getting a new TV screen is desirable. Naturally, a mended screen is more prone to develop flaws in the future, especially if it has been fixed.

Sleeper time Activation
If your TV’s sleeper time is enabled, it will switch off within the specified period, resulting in a blank screen. So, to fix this, go to your TV’s configuration menu and look for sleeper time and disable it.
Check for Right Cable and Input / Output: After that, double-check all of the cords connected to your TV’s input and component output. If your TV has two video inputs and a digital cable converter is inserted into one of them, the TV will not display any sound or image on the screen.

I have two of these unit and both of them work very well! We have one running in a large den and it cools it down very well! The other unit we run in each of our kids rooms prior to bed time and it cools their room down fast. There is a built in thermometer in our daughters baby cam and it goes from high 70s low 80s to 70 in around 45 minutes. After bed time we roll one into our room for use overnight. It works really well and honestly we don't even notice it during the night. I really appreciate the on/off button for the LCD on the unit. This prevents having a bright green light in your bedroom at night. I can't speak to its ability to dehumidify as I have used the feature.

Great machine. Nice white and clean. Great dehumifying. The tube was really hot so I got a Cool-Aide and that took care of the issue (see the photo of the tube insulator attached). The tube went from 120 degrees down to 80 degrees! Didn't want to heat the very room I was cooling. It is a good product and keeps the room cool.

My reason it’s not the most popular TV on the list, it’s low cost, great features has given me great service and comfort. I have purchased before some of the top brands and was disappointed in the quality of service from them. I know my selection is not a top contender TV, so what it’s serving me well. Earnestly, P. **

We moved into a new house with no range microwave so I was on the hunt for a countertop. This one fit the bill and after a month of use, we are pretty happy with it. I was looking for: - Quick 30 button that didn’t need an addition button press to start - Quick minute button, bonus for 2-6 quick minute buttons - Handle to open the door - >=1000w power - Bonus points for small footprint due to limited counter space The only thing that really missed the mark was the footprint, but I did a lot of comparisons, and this one’s footprint is pretty much average for a microwave of this capacity. We didn’t need a fancy machine with all the bells and whistles. We really just needed something that would reheat leftovers so we don’t use the presets or other functions on this microwave. I did try the butter melt/soften function once and the butter boiled over, so I don’t think they really work all that well anyway. Overall, we are very happy with this microwave! A countertop microwave with a handle instead of a button for door operation really narrows down the choices, and I’m really happy we chose this one!

We bought this to cool off our bedrooms while we were waiting for parts for our AC system. Easy to install easy to move around and it works wonderfully. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a portable AC unit when they're in a pinch. Especially if you live in Florida.

So far I have really enjoyed this appliance. I had to modify the window piece as I had a narrow window, but with a roto-zip, I cut it down about 1". I have it set on 74 degrees and the fan and AC kick on alternately to keep the room cool.

Note: Durability rated 5/5 on projected use over time. I'll update the review as necessary should this projection change appreciably. Good unit for the money. Powerful, useful presets, color makes it well-suited for most any placement in any kitchen. Even the clock was easy to set! ;-) Only two gripes, albeit minor. First, delivery kept the unit on the first day because they weren't comfortable leaving it outside. That's understandable, but providing an option to leave it would have been nice, since not everyone can be at home during normal delivery hours. To be clear, the gripe here is not that the delivery company kept the item overnight, it's that there was no option for the delivery company to leave it at the house. Gripe #2: the buttons are loud. Not distractingly so, but I would have preferred a more subdued, muted level of noise. Overall, satisfied with the purchase. At this point, would order this unit again... many years down the road. ;-)

The size is great. Noise is a lot less than my last one. The controls are really convenient for quick cooking. A button for melting or softening button to 1 lbs. button for defrosting. The front is anti smudge. It came quick. I did buy on sale, but it was worth the money. It is quiet, convenient buttons, hardly any cleaning, and looks great. I would buy again.

My Toshiba Amazon Fire TV is one of the best TVs I've ever owned, seriously! The color is exuberant, the imagery is crisp, and it keeps up with the motion of sports games and other active showings. I've had it 2 years now and it's never had any issues and because of its clarity, everyone who visits, asks me about the TV. I'd buy Toshiba TVs every time if they're going to be this good!

This is a great AC unit if you're looking for portable and your place isnt too big/directly facing the sun. This unit easily keeps my 750 sq ft apartment cool during the hot days. Easy to use, remote is great, and the on/off cycle when ambient temp is correct, is great! Yes it's a bit loud, but not horrible.

I bought this TV for just under $500 in 2017 or 2018. There were a few times that it blacked out on me and I thought it was busted. However, I found that unplugging it for five minutes and plugging it back in forced it to do a hard reset, which solved the issue every time. There are a lot of bad reviews for this issue, but honestly, I've had my Samsung and LG TVs do the same thing before. Electronics will occasionally have a mind of their own. The only reason I'm selling it now is because the person buying my home from me wants to buy it from me since it is already hanging pleasantly on the wall. They are willing to pay $500 for it, so I figured, why not? If Toshiba made a TV that was 80" plus, I would consider buying another if the price was fair.

So far so good! The kitchen is going to be renovated late this summer, and our old GE microwave which came with the house needed to be replaced to match. (The GE was working well and adequate, but was a bit of a fashion faux pas in any environment.) After reading lots of reviews for mid-sized microwaves, I decided to try this Toshiba. The kitchen will feature a black sink and black commercial faucet, with light gray countertop with dark veins/patterns, the floor will be dark grey tile. So the colour and exterior styling of this Toshiba fits right in. More important are a couple of things I’ve noticed in the short period I’ve had this unit. First, it is quiet! At least it is much quieter than the old GE. Second, the various settings seem to work well. I used the sensor reheat yesterday evening for the first time and it worked very well. I have yet to try any of the other auto settings; I’ve never used many such settings in the past. But this little guy has me intrigued for some strange reason. One or more reviews stated they could not get the beeper turned off even when following the instructions. It DOES work; just press the #8 on the keypad long enough. The trick is to hold the key press long enough. The manual states 3 seconds, but I think it is more like 4 seconds. This setting will change back to default if the power goes out and the unit resets, but that’s to be expected. All-in-all I’m very happy so far. As I get more practice with it I will try to remember to update this review. I’ve always been happy with most Toshiba products, including a 39” LED television that I purchased from Amazon a few years ago.

We purchased our Toshiba TV about a year ago. Amazon Fire was included with it. The picture is incredible, as is the sound. We have had zero issues with it since buying it. It was well priced and is a value for the price. I only wish we had bought the smaller model for our bedroom, instead, we went with a different brand.
