What makes Sub Zero fridge work better?
Just moved into a house with a 10 yr old sub zero fridge. Always had standard fridges before that seemed to work fine. The sub zero isn't really any bigger inside, and doesn't have any fancy drawers or dispensers…. I honestly thought of it as a brand for people that have money and want to flash it.
Yet for some reason, my produce lasts 3x longer than it did in my last fridge. I'm getting bags of salad that are lasting 2 weeks past the expiration date and raspberries that don't mold for weeks.
Just wondering what they do to accomplish this magic?
Question from user radio9989 at Appliances at reddit.com.
Answer:
The main reason food lasts longer in a sub is because most of them have an ethylene air filter which removes the gas made by produce. Its similar to what produce trucks - trains use to keep produce from spoiling during transport.
