American Standard Heat Pump Repairs

If you're looking for help fixing your American Standard Heat Pump, look no further! Our comprehensive American Standard Heat Pump repair guide will explain common issues, provide tips, and maybe show you how to repair your appliance.

I'm sorry to hear that your heat pump is broken. If your heat pump is not functioning properly, it's recommended to follow these steps:

Check the Basics:

  • Ensure that the heat pump is receiving power. Check the circuit breaker and ensure it is not tripped.
  • Verify that the thermostat is set to the appropriate temperature and mode (heating or cooling).
  • Make sure the fan settings on the thermostat are correctly set (Auto or On).

Troubleshooting:

  • If the heat pump is not turning on at all, it could be a problem with the power supply, thermostat, or control board. You may need to call a professional HVAC technician to diagnose and repair the issue.
  • If the heat pump is running but not providing the expected heating or cooling, it could be due to refrigerant issues, a faulty compressor, a malfunctioning sensor, or other technical problems. Again, contacting a professional technician is advisable.

Contact a Professional:

  • Heat pump repairs can be complex and require specialized knowledge and tools. It is recommended to contact a qualified HVAC technician to assess and repair your broken heat pump.
  • A professional technician will be able to accurately diagnose the issue, provide the necessary repairs, and ensure the heat pump is operating safely and efficiently.

Remember, attempting to repair a heat pump without proper training and expertise can be dangerous and may cause further damage. It's best to rely on the expertise of professionals to address the issue and restore your heat pump to proper working condition.

We’ve only had our new system installed for 4 months but it’s been great! We purchased our new home without getting an inspection first and had to quickly get a new HVAC system installed and this was highly recommended by our tech. When we did get around to getting a home inspection our inspector even commented on the high quality of American Standard products so hopefully they hold up as expected!

We replaced our old air handler a few months ago, when replacing the heat pump. It works well, although it’s much louder than the unit it replaced. But it has had zero issues, and the house was comfortable last summer, with 90+ degree days, and with now freezing weather outside. Happy with our purchase.

I had a York for a heat pump 42yrs it started to nickel and dime us the last 2yrs Bought a 14 seer A.Std so far, I own this for 5months, and it's already broke down. And Boss services told me it would be at least 2 weeks to get the parts (that's unacceptable and also told us when we bought this unit it would save us on our electricity bill) not true in fact our bill has double since they installed unit. and the day they did the install they had to get not 1, not2, but 3 a/c coils because they wouldn't hold a charge, it was a disaster from the get go. NOT A HAPPY CAMPER NOR WOULD I RECOMEND THEM $10K DOWN THE DRAIN, had to call the factory to get any help. That's Boss Services of Benton Harbor, Michigan it seems this is how they treat somebody that had a stroke and doesn't work, SHAMEFUL, ABSOLULTELY SHAMEFUL it's the dead of winter and it seems they don't care just the opposite of their commercials. Buyer Beware-should have bought a YORK instead.

Our heat pump was installed in early in 2022 and has proven to be dependable and quiet. It's greatest gift has been the air conditioning that makes our home livable during those "dog days of summer." Our savings have ranged from 25% less to 38% less over 2021. Our only regret is that we did not have it installed sooner.

Great heat pump in terms of efficiency. Costs essentially nothing to run on AC mode. Heatings costs are much lower than prior heat pump. This would absolutely be a 5 star review except for one thing. Every time the outside temperature goes below 5 degrees, the compressor shuts off permanently. The only way to get the compressor to run again is to power cycle the entire unit. Even if the outside temperature hits 50 degrees, the compressor will not cycle on. This has now happened 5 years in a row. Reported to dealer, who could find no solution. This one issue means that one month every year my bill goes up by over $200 for the month in which this happens (to about $500 from a normal winter high of $300). Obviously this is a controls problem that American Standard has no interest in addressing, which is too bad as it otherwise a nearly perfect unit.
