18 YO oven has a broken door hinge, which we had repaired almost five years ago. It is broken again. Part is now discontinued. Oven was several thousand dollars. F&P includes being sustainably minded in its brand vision. Their online chat was full for days, through Messenger they have said oven has served good time. I agree its an older appliance, but their response was a giant turn-off. The first appliance repair person said the hinge is a known problem. Discontinuing production of a part thats a known problem is not being sustainably-minded.

I absolutely love my new washer and dryer set by Fisher and Paykel. I have had zero problems with the machines since I purchased them in August of this year. The Eco features save me money on water costs, and my clothes dry very fast due to the powerful spin cycle. I cannot recommend highly enough. Best appliance purchase ever!!!

Every white towel we washed, including high quality ones purchased this year, has developed holes. To be sure that we weren’t adding too much bleach, we have only filled the bleach dispenser half full and diluted it with water to the fill mark. We are about to throw this washer out and get a different one. Another thing we don’t like is that you can’t fill the tub with enough water to just soak things.

I purchased three F&P appliances in 2005 (double drawer dishwasher, a washer and dryer). All three of them have been a total waste of money, for each one has had problems which make them irreparable and problematic. When I purchased the F&K washer and dryer my main concern was the fact that both units were controlled by the electronic board. The salesman replied that this should be one of the significant advantages due to the fact that if something went wrong with the washer or dryer they simply send out a replacement electronic board for about $75. All I would have to do is unplug the old one and plug in the new one. How far from the truth that was. They never mentioned that the only repair service company was one person in the entire Houston, Texas market that ended up knowing less about the product than me. And besides, they charge you $75-$85 just to come out and diagnose the problem. After doing so with the washer, they said that it was the electronic board and they would have to order. When the board came in they replaced it. It still did not work and they said the entire motor would have to be replaced at a cost that far exceeded purchasing a new washer. Needless to say, I was smart enough to send the new F&K packing to my backyard graveyard only to replace it with the very old Maytag washer which I had taken out just due to its poor visual appeal. Boy have I learned. I would much rather have a dingy, slightly dented beige workhorse of a washer as in my Maytag, which is older than me, than this new updated F&P laughing stock of an appliance. Let me say if I was the F&P Marketing Director and I saw comments as numerous and detailed as the ones I saw on this site, I would set out to make things right with these customers. Secondly, my F&P dryer just all of a sudden stopped heating. So I decided to look at this website prior to calling the no-use of a repair service that F&P has accredited with the worthiness to repair its appliances. Well, I only wish that I had found this website prior to my purchasing these F&P products. What worthless pieces of useless technology. I think the woman early put the entire frustration into place when she said her mother used an old tub and ringer system and at least at the end of the day she was relaxed. I have to agree wholeheartedly. I think I am going back to washing in a tub and ringer and then putting them out to dry on the line if this is the best consumers can expect. Now I know why my mom only purchases Kenmore. She said they were totally reliable and that Sears always stands behind their product. Since having to do my laundry there now for the last year due to my unsuccessful purchase, I think I have to finally give in to my mom that said, I told you so!The last appliance (and thank God someone talked me out of the refrigerator or I would be writing in about 4 instead of 3 appliances) is the double drawer dishwasher. Now, how a service repairman can tell me that the reason the top drawer tends to stop after 20 minutes of washing and start beeping like it is off balance is due to operator error I do not understand. On top of which he said it can be attributed to the dishwashing detergent selected. Now, I am a Cascade man and that is the only detergent I have ever used since learning early on during my college years that nothing works better. And thank God because when the dishwasher finally makes it through the washing cycle at least I know they will be sparkly! Not necessarily clean because this dishwasher has to be the worst at cleaning dishes. I installed a cheap GE Dishwasher in my butler’s pantry, which I now find myself hauling dishes from the Kitchen to the butler’s pantry to avoid using the F&P because the cheap GE washes faster, better and quicker than the F&P ever did or would ever be able to do in the future. It seems that after starting the dishwasher, which was installed in a newly renovated 100-year old historic house that is on pier and beam, it seems to stop and start beeping each time you walk into the kitchen during its cycle. It starts immediately and begins washing again after opening and shutting the drawer and hitting. I mean, I waste more time opening and closing the drawer to ensure that my dishes are clean than I would if I simply washed them by hand. So from my experiences, that is enough. Being taught from a young age that three strikes equal an out, F&K that was the last pitch and you are out!

I would never recommend their high-end dishwashers. They only work on the heavy energy cycle and something is messed up with our computer. It cleans sometimes and not on other times. For two years wed had an authorized service provider come look at it, but Fisher & Paykel doesnt believe us. They said they called the provider and that we have only had it looked at once. They are being cheap and dont want to help. It was a very expensive washer, so you would think they would replace it if it only works half the time. They have a very rude customer service tone.

As the technician was packing up to leave, after his or anothers fourth visit in 6 weeks, I asked where his suitcase was. Suitcase? Yes, I said. You might as well stay here because when this oven goes out within a week or so, as before, you will be here ready to fix it. We rarely cook or use the oven but mystery of mysteries when the first part went out then there was a second and a third part strangely out of order. All within a very short period of time. One replacement part never did work. Bad enough waiting on hold for the New Zealand customer service department and being told there was no record of past service calls. Dont bother trying to explain or negotiate a free service call or part replacement cause it aint gonna happen. NOT A HAPPY EXPERIENCE.

F&P Washer model # wa37t26gw2 - I bought this washing machine from a local Sears in Newton, KS. I have had it now for three years and two months. My husband was washing clothes the other night and went out into the laundry room and the whole room was filled with white stinky smoke. The whole entire board of the machine is burned up. Im just not satisfied with a washer lasting only three years before I have a major problem. I just wanted you to know!

Purchased appliances (Dishwasher/Clothes Washer/Dryer) 8 years ago. Dishwasher still works well (fingers crossed) but both Clothes Washer & Dryer cratered in the last few months. Heating element and bearing both wore out in the dryer (600 C$ to repair) and the transmission broke down in the washer replacement part for our model no longer available so will have to get a new washer (wont be a Fisher Paykel). Previously had domestic appliances for 25 years which worked equally as well without requiring so much as a service call. No more Fisher Paykel for me.

I want to start by saying we are very happy (so far) with the GWL11 Washer. It is 6 years old and 1 year out of extended warranty. I called the local factorys recommended shop on Thursday and Baker Appliance came out the next Monday. He ordered the part for regular delivery. A different repairman returned on Monday, a week later, to replace the electronic control unit. They discovered the wrong part was sent. He said the box had the correct part number on it but the part inside was incorrect. Does this happen a lot?My issue is, he told my wife they would ship the correct part the next day. I called them Tuesday to ask about the part delivery. The girl said she would check and call me back but never did. I left a message on Tuesday night and she called me back Wednesday morning and said she didnt have it yet. I called again and explained what the repairman had said. She asked someone in her office about it. She said they werent told and it would be another $50 for next day shipping. I then gave up.Wouldnt Fisher & Paykel absorb the additional cost if they shipped the wrong part? I spent more than $50 at the laundromat over the last 2 weeks. We have 5 people in our home.

No contact with Fisher and Paykel happens without our initiating it. When our dishwasher broke, to book the service visit online we had to allow a 6 hour window for him/her to arrive. When he did come and determined what was needed i.e. parts and a second visit at no time did F&P update us. So after 2 weeks we made contact again and since then it has been impossible to get through. I cannot contact the service person directly, have to go through the customer service who do not answer the phone, cut you off and just respond to computer prompts. All they can do is rebook visits. The dishwasher is less than a year old and needs a new motor. We are not heavy users of it. I wish we could use the local service people and not have to rely on F and P ever again. They cannot cope.

I was one of those customers that was highly encouraged to buy a Fisher & Paykel Washer and Dryer. I was one of the lucky ones that purchased an extended warranty but that doesnt do anything for inconvenience. I have had to have my dryer worked on about five times. Once I had to wait for over eight weeks which means lugging wet clothes to the laundry mat to dry them. Ive had my washer worked on about four times. Now, my extended warranty is up on both machines and I noticed that my washer is leaking water. It seems that the water is coming from the top of the machine. I tilted the machine back and the only part that is wet is the side. I have read on the web that many other people are having the same problem. I purchased the washer in 2006 and the dryer in 2007. I really expected to get at least ten years out of these appliances since they are not cheap.

The griddle on this range is a piece of junk. It does not heat over 250 degrees. I have contacted Fisher & Paykel numerous times about this problem. They referred us to a repair service. The serviceman does not even want to work on a DCS. They have adjusted the griddle numerous times and replaced the thermostat twice. It still does not get hot enough! Fisher & Paykel will not let you talk to their technician to explain how the griddle is working. We are unable to get a phone number where we can talk to someone who understands how the griddle is supposed to work. One of the service reps in New Zealand asked us to fax all the records we have kept on the problems with this range. The number he gave us would not go through. I think he did not want to give us a correct number. He would not even give us his last name so we could talk to him again! If they were an automotive manufacturer, after reading all the bad reviews, the government would have already put them out of business!

We bought a BRAND NEW FISHER PAYKEL WASHING MACHINE and on the 8th day, which is only the 3rd time we have used it, when it spin, the whole machine was shaking badly. So we called Fisher Paykel Customer Service and advised what happened. We took a video of the machine shaking. They scheduled us for a day for the repairman to check so my husband went off for work just to able to attend to the repairman. And then, he said, it defective and he requested with their Customer Service for it to be replaced...The second BRAND NEW FISHER PAYKEL WASHING MACHINE arrives but when we tried it, it also shakes but not as bad as the first unit. My husband wanted to call Customer Service again. I told him, its not bad as the first unit so maybe its just normal, but the next time we used it, shaking was not good, so we took a video of it again just to show how the machine is again shaking. And not just that, we had these boxes of my boots at the side of the washing machine and its all wet and it just came to our knowledge that the BRAND NEW FISHER PAYKEL WASHING MACHINE has a leak as well... What a quality. ;( So we called Customer Service and requested for another day to have a check on it, that was weekend. We requested if they can schedule us on the coming Monday for I am on leave from work but they said its all fully booked. They scheduled us on Wednesday same week 12-5pm.However, this is the 2nd time of this issue with this BRAND NEW FISHER PAYKEL WASHING MACHINE and its not that easy to ask from work for another half day or leave. So my husband clearly advised with the Customer Service that he will be available by 5pm and they said back theyll see. So on Wednesday, I called Customer Service to confirm that technician will come on 5pm that day. The person I spoke to tells me that the technician will be finished working by 4:30pm in our area so 5pm is not possible. So I told her, is there any other option for we need someone to check the machine for it is not fair that we are paying a lot of money on this defective BRAND NEW FISHER PAYKEL WASHING MACHINE.She throw the question back to me asking me what are other options I can think of. She told me shell ask the technician to call me 1hr before hell come. Just to put in perspective, she is quite nice lady, though. So I told her, I can use my lunch time to drive home just for this to be checked for I cant have another leave for I just had one. So she checked the technician schedule and said that we are scheduled for 12-1pm so it is fine that I can drive back home at lunch time so the technician can come at the scheduled time as what their system is saying. So I was thinking when she says that we are scheduled on 12-1pm, I just need to just go home and wait for the technician on the scheduled time.So I approached my Manager and advised that Ill be leaving but be back by 1sh. So when I arrived home around 12:10pm, I called Customer Service to confirm that technician will be coming as what was scheduled, as what their system is showing. But the lady on the other line says a straight NO, YOU ARE 12-5PM, NOT 12-1PM. Which makes my blood went up to my head. I drive 35-45 minutes to come home and then you will tell me that technician will not see me as what Ive been advised on phone earlier? I was pretty mad, disappointed whatever you call it, that we bought this FISHER PAYKEL WASHING MACHINE. The reason we bought a brand new is not to have a lot of drama, but we had more that we expected... Not really happy with the unit and with the Customer Service. I better refund the money for this unit and buy another Brand. THUMBS DOWN...

I must be one of the few to have a positive experience with F&P. We purchased a washer/dryer set in 2003. We still have the dryer but are on our second GWL11 washer. The first one lasted 10 years. In that time it was subjected to hard water and a family of four. The pump is definitely the weak link, as I replaced at least two in that time. Also had to replace a water inlet valve. The new pumps come with a inline fuse to install on the harness to the controller to prevent it from getting ruined if the pump shorts out. None of the repairs were done in warranty. F&P washers are very easy to diagnose and repair so I have been able to do all my repairs. After too many large loads and 10 years of hard water the strut rods that keep the drum in balance wore out. I found a super clean GWL11 for $80 on CL to replace it. We now have a water softener so this machine stays cleaner and cleans more efficiently.I saved parts off the old machine for future repairs. I did change the pump not long after I got it. Now three years later that used pump went out, this time the windings shorted out, taking the controller with it. I blew off installing the inline fuse, so this could of easily been prevented. I bought a new pump for $110 and installed my used controller and its running just fine again. I know this all sounds like a nightmare of repairs, but if you are able to be a little bit inclined to take on a challenge you can save a lot of money on paying the repair person. I dont have a lot of money laying around to buy new appliances every few years. From the reviews I read, many new high efficiency washers dont clean well and are repair prone. When I do break down and buy a new one sometime in the future, I will definitely consider F&P again, along with Speed Queen.

I purchased a range and when it was hooked up, it did not work. After the service man looked at it, he said that a part had to be replaced and it would be 4 days to get the part. After a little complaining they said the part was going to be shipped overnight and the stove would be fixed.Well after 5 days the part arrived and the service guy was back on the 6th day to find out the range was still not working. They finally decided to replace the range and I was told it would be another 5-10 days before they would replace it, keeping in mind it has been 18 days since the delivered the brand new range. I have sent e-mails and called Fisher Paykel only to find that the customer service is the worst I have seen. No one is responding to the e-mails and they kept me on hold for almost 20 minutes. The store where I bought it from has been trying to help but their hands are tied until they get info from Fisher Paykel. At this time I am so angry, I have been eating out with my 9-month pregnant wife and my 2 1/2-year-old son every night. Finally the sales rep called me and they are going to push it through after yelling and screaming on the phone. I would not recommend this company and would never buy their product again. Im very happy with my DCS 30 range. The range provides me with plenty of BTUs on all burners allowing me to do a proper saute and a great braise. The oven is very well insulated and does a great job with even browning from roasting chicken to baking bread. I do wish there was a switch to shut off the cooling fan so I can manually shut it off. We bought our F&P Dish Drawer DD603 in 2002 during a kitchen remodel along with new countertops, Sub-zero, stove, microwave, etc. I would say we use our dishwasher regularly but no more than expected and especially at the price we paid. That said, I think at this point, Ive paid in repair costs pretty much what I paid for the unit plus extended warranty plus installation back then. When our extended service warranty ran out years ago, the DIY in me took on the task of diagnosing, buying, and replacing the parts myself. However, Im now at the point of deciding whether to cut my losses and toss the whole thing out. Last Oct., there was a leak, which rendered the unit inoperable. I replaced the shorted main filter board, both top and bottom wiring harness, and the bottom controller. All was well for about a month. Then, it looked like the top drawers lid wasnt closing securely as I find moisture on the side of the tub after a complaint of beeping dilemma. (She swears there wasnt anything remotely big in the tub that would prevent the lid from closing.) In any case, the top drawer controller seems to be a goner.Last night, I replaced the top controller. The top unit did light up, but my wife did the trial run using the bottom drawer instead. The top drawer practically beeped all night and no amount of coaxing, turn off, lock, open drawer, etc., would silence it. No codes, just R2D2 on a binge. Whats next? Replace the main filter again, a bad controller, replace the actuators, the entire lid, etc.? I have two choices now: (a) somehow rig this unit to see if it can operate with the good bottom drawer only or (b) cut my losses, parcel out my recently purchased parts on eBay, and replace the dishwasher? One of my neighbors bought the same F&P DD unit, but Im afraid to check with her about her experience.

Over the course of three years we have had 6 service calls on the Fisher Paykel dish drawer dishwasher. The hoses crack and water has leaked onto my wood floor causing damage 3 times. Another time, the electric board needed replacing, and just two weeks ago the entire magnet and inner workings on the top drawer need to be replaced. The total cost of this last repair is $600. Before this current dishwasher, we owned the first generation Fisher Paykel dish drawer. It was as horrible as our current one. There is absolutely no customer service or help from Fisher Paykel. They blame every defective part and problem on the water, or detergent, or operator error etc. Do not ever buy a Fisher Paykel unless you have piles of money and time lying around. I bought this washer (Fisher & Paykel Washing Machine) as a highly recommended low maintenance machine. At the least, I am dissatisfied; at the most, angry. I am retired and live on a fixed income. I did research myself as to possible causes of the constant drip of 6 inches of hot water into the tub and the low level screeching of the tub as it spins. As for repair, I was only able to find one resource for a possible part that caused the dripping. When I called, I was treated rudely and they refused to help me and stated Id have to pay a large fee just to have it diagnosed. So, I asked what the charge would be if it was found to need a hot water valve leaking and if the screeching was a bad bearing. I was told the bearings never go bad and that I didnt know anything. Then, the woman from the shop hung up! I love being treated badly! Your customer service is nasty and non-existent!

First washer purchased in 2001 had problem going from wash cycle to rinse in 2006. We tried contacting Fisher & Paykel and got no response, no support, and no help! We replaced a diverter valve, and then a circuit board, only to have wasted our money. We wrote a formal letter to F & P Customer Care USA (Irvine, CA) on Sept 21, 2007 letting F & P know that the diverter valve and circuit board only lasted 9 months before it repeated. No response was ever received from F & P Customer Care USA. That pretty sums up the amount of support/customer care you will receive. We liked the technology; and despite the lack of support, customer service, or response, we bought a GW12 and disposed of our six-year-old GWll. No problem with our GW12 from 2007 until 2013. Now, our GW12 is having the same problem! It appears that both of our Fisher & Paykel washers only have a six-year life cycle. I will write another formal letter to Fisher & Paykel Customer Care USA, but I do not expect I will ever hear from Fisher & Paykel. From my perspective, Fisher & Paykel washers have a planned obsolescence of six years, and clearly they lack an infrastructure for support or customer service in the USA. I would recommend that you only buy their products if you like changing your major appliances out frequently. If you do purchase Fisher & Paykel products in the USA, then expect to be on your own with no support or any customer service. One last item, the letters to FP Consumer Customer Care USA contained two emails for response and one mobile phone number. It is on 24/7, 365 days a year!

We bought a Fisher Paykel washer/dryer set in 2009 for our new house. The dryer model number is DE27CW1. We had a six year warranty and used one call for the washer. In 2019 the dryer would fail to dry clothes. We cleaned the vent pathway and lint buildup in the front of the unit, pressed reset and we were good to go until a load of towels didn’t dry and nothing after that. Removed the front panel, pressed reset again and my husband noted that the heating element was red hot even though the unit wasn’t drying. After receiving an incorrect part from Sears Direct we decided to be grateful we didn’t have a fire and purchased a Miele set. We have pictures of the red hot heating element. There is information on the web about a lawsuit by a family in Washington State who had a fire with their Fisher Paykel dryer. Why wasn’t the Fisher Paykel dryer recalled?

I have just replaced my old Fisher Paykel dish drawers with new ones. I love the drawers. Their size and versatility work great for the two of us. The inside of new one is a bit smaller than my old one so that is taking some getting used to. That one small thing is my only complaint. I would definitely recommend Fisher Paykel Dish Drawers (and have).

This is a continung saga from my earlier complaint.OK, so I called in the service repair person recommended to my by F&P Customer Service. Now mind you I had absolutely no choice in the matter because, F&P would not allow me to talk to their service personnel unless I was an official appliance repair organization sanctioned by them. The dilemma is as follows: The washing machine was 4 years old and stopped in the middle of a wash cycle. The display panel was dead so I could not read any codes. I Call F&P for advise on how to diagnose the problem. They refused to let me talk to their service personnel. My background is 30 year in computer a EE degree and of those 30 years I spent 4 years fixing large mainframes. So I know a little about electronics, control board, electricity, motors etc. This did not matter to F&P, ok fair enough but why refuse me the option to solve my own problem at my own risk.In addition a new machine would cost me about $550. Now the price tag I was looking at to fix the machine was about $300 to $400 for parts and if you add in a repair person: $100 for diagnosis and then another $250 for labor your talking $700 tops for parts and labor on a machine that lasted only 4 years and cost me approx $500. If I could eliminate the middle man then I could get away with $200 to $300 parts only. Because F&P service would not talk to me I would have to eat the cost for both parts which I speculated could be the problem. They would consider both part and not be restock able. Oh if they had just talked to me.Cutting to the quick the repair person confirmed that the motor control board was bad and, now heres the gem, I also have a burned out pump. To diagnose the pump problem the repair person called F&P service and they instructed him to ohm out the pump. Now I could have done that. So the end result was I was looking at $280 for part and, $250 for labor. On top of that the repair person also offered to buy the machine if I decided to junk it and, buy a new one. So now let me ask you, is there a problem with his scenario. So I called F&P parts and they are shipping me the parts for a grand total of $210 and that includes, shipping. But, there still remains a problem. If I install the part I void the part warranty and if I have the repair person do this then it cost me $250 maybe more because now they loose the part markup. So my position is as follows should I pursue a legal option. F&P recommended the service person I called and had them come is for a cost to me of $100. He diagnosed the problem to be the motor control board and the pump, the latter being assisted by F&P service. If I install both parts, pump then motor control, dont want the pump blowing the motor control again and, the machine does not work, I will conclude the repair person did not meet their obligation and, either I will request a refund for poor service (i.e. I will chase them down using the AGs office first then, take them to small claims) or ask them to further diagnose the issue at no charge. Count on it I will be there when they come in. I know my way around electronics. As for F&P they need to think further about how to deal with product repair. Their customers are being fleeced and F&P is complicate. Now heres a bonus. The repair man told me that the reason the pump went bad, which burned out my motor control board, hmmmm, was because, I used liquid detergent. Yes folks take a look at your grocers shelves and tell me what sort of detergent is being promoted? Thats right, liquid. Appears that liquid detergent breaks down the motor seals. The repair person recommended we use powder. My wife had to search hard to find a powdered detergent. So folk your washer is doomed from day one. Now I dont make these machines but I was wondering if there could be a class action suit in here.Oh and by the way those dryer sheets you put in to make your clothes smell good. Well they can coat your dryer and start a fire and if you have small children well those same sheets will remove the fire retardant material from their clothes.

I have just bought a Fisher and Paykel fridge (E373L WW). I chose this brand only because nobody else makes a fridge of this size without a freezer. Well, nobody whose products are imported into New Zealand, anyway. I dont need a freezer. I lost confidence in Fisher Paykel many years ago. It is so hard to believe this company was once so highly revered by every New Zealand housewife. They made washing machines and fridges that never break down; well, not until well into old age. I still have in use a chest freezer made by them in the 1970s. They must have made enough profit in those days making products that lasted. Why cant they still do so? My fridge is only 6 weeks old and appears to be working fine. The two stars is not for the fridge but the company.

I have Benign Positional Vertigo and its either we raise the traditional dishwasher up off the floor to where I didnt have to stoop over and load the appliance, or I look for another appliance and make it much more convenient for my use. We ended up purchasing the two-drawer Fisher Paykel dishwasher and it broke within the first couple of months. But I had warranty through our local store (and I think Fisher & Paykel gave me three years warranty) so an appliance repair shop out of Corpus Christi, Texas came over and installed a new one. It’s an excellent product, it does as advertised and I’m very happy with it. Although sometimes it doesnt dry the dishes as well as Id like for it to, but I dont know if thats an issue of just trying to run it on the economy side of it and maybe I run it on that quite often and change it around...

Wow. I wish I had read these reviews before buying my FP washer. I thought I had a great item. Same story. At least, I got nearly four years out of it, exceptional compared to other stories! Whining noise, just drains water, no wash cycle, Ive thought of calling a repairman but based on these reviews, I am going to trash this mess and get a Maytag. The American consumer is fed up with paying top dollar for poor products. This company will be hanging its head when they go out of business due to poor sales. Do not buy FP! Shame on you corporate greed FP! Your sales up this month? See what they are in five years. You have to get 10 happy customers to offset the decrease in sales due to one dissatisfied customer (Business 101). From the look of these reviews, one would say youre behind the eight ball.Who has money to throw away like this? Public school teacher who hasnt had a raise or COLA in four years in a non-union state (very low wages), widow, raising three kids alone, cost of living and gas prices increasing exponentially. And the clothes washer dies, in spite of the $800 or so I spent on it four years ago. How much did the CEO of Fisher-Paykel net last year? Corporate greed and environmental devastation, how long will it take my lousy washing machine to biodegrade in some landfill? Americans are fed up.

Bought a Fisher and Paykel dish drawer less than two years ago. Around the beginning of March there was an error code warning on the machine and it was leaking water onto my hardwood floors. I contacted Fisher and Paykel and was told to work with the one service repair company in Austin Texas. They finally came out on March 9th to look at my machine. The technician told me the symptoms of my machine did not make sense but if he swapped out a few parts it would probably resolve the issue. Finally two weeks later I was told the parts were indefinitely on backorder. At this point I called Fisher and Paykel directly. I was given the royal run around. I contacted the company 12 times over the course of 6 days. Each time I was assured that someone would call me back in the next hour or so. Never got that call. When I called back in to follow up on the issue, I was told a different story and that it was out of the representatives hands or that they were a New Zealand company and the person in charge was gone for the day. I was told the companies issue was due to the long shoremans strike and my part would likely arrive in late April. I stressed that the technician was not totally sure the parts would fix my machine, so I was supposed to wait six weeks for parts which may not even get my machine working again.

Fisher Paykel DCS Counter Depth Refrigerator - I am absolutely BEYOND frustrated with this brand! Since last October I have had no less than eight, EIGHT, service calls to sort out why my ice maker drops ice cubes into the receptacle below that are freeze together. The ice that comes out of the cube tray is not frozen fully...therefore it becomes a big lump in my freezer. In order to get ice, we have to stab at it with a big knife. NOT SAFE to say the least. I have had two repair companies come to the house. Theyve called FP techs while at my house to go over the issue. The techs advice this last time was to adjust the temperature. (Or to tell me I dont close the freezer door...sorry on that one...it ain’t the problem or I would have had this issue all along.) I also dont overload my refrigerator or freezer door. Its not my first rodeo with an upscale appliance. If I could, I would dump this lemon on the sidewalk. But since my fridge surround was built for it...I am stuck. I have held back my comments for months, but as of yesterday, I am not doing that any longer. I have listened in to the FP Tech calls to the repairman. The first tech was so incredibly rude and insulting I wanted to take the phone from the poor repair guy and give him a piece of my mind. The second tech said, “Oh, just adjust the temp to a warmer temp,” Really? (Why is he a tech?) Did he not understand that the ice is NOT FROZEN all the way when it drops into the bin? The icemaker was replaced fully several visits ago...its something else and frankly, I dont believe for a quick second that its something the tech guys has never heard of before. Im not a repairman, I am a consumer. A very smart consumer that knows the buck is being passed. I paid $600 for an extended warranty on this unit. I expect the darn thing to work properly. If it cannot be repaired the FP needs to come forward and deliver a new one to me. I will simply not buy, nor ever recommend, this brand again. I would be disingenuous. If no one can repair it, not even the trained FP guys with the tech on the phone...I have no faith. Zero. So sad.

I had a side-by-side fridge removed and I only have so much space in my kitchen and nothing else would fit except Fisher Paykel (although later I found out that Whirlpool also has one this size). I really like the bottom of the unit as it is and couldn’t care less about the bottle chiller or the quick freeze or whatever that is and the water dispenser is also okay. However, how could they make a fridge without any place to put lunchmeat? There’s no deli drawer! Our two drawers, they’re not for lunchmeat; they’re for putting lettuce or whatever. There are two containers on the doors on the top that I’m using one for cheese and one for butter but nothing specific for lunchmeat or cheese. Also, my daughter said she doesn’t like that the doors don’t ever shut, which is true. I must close it, slam it every time. It’s really getting to be a pain. I do think that there is some way to raise the front of the fridge because every time I open the door, it tweets or whatever. It makes a chime that the door is not closed. Aside from that, I don’t know how I’m going to handle that distilling thing in the back (but apparently, that’s only like once or twice a year) and I don’t like that the ice cubes freeze together at times. And they do… I just have to throw them all out. One other thing I don’t like is that fingerprints show so much - they weren’t supposed to.But even though this fridge is from New Zealand and when I have questions I don’t understand them and they don’t understand me (lol), we’re satisfied with it and I think it’s a good instrument. I think perhaps I’m not technologically savvy. If I were more into that, maybe I’d find more efficient use of it than I am.

I purchased an F&P washer and dryer in April 2004. I made this purchase based on strong recommendations by friends and relatives. The washers control panel went out twice in the first year. Both times, it took a couple of weeks to get a replacement. The technician from the appliance store told me this was the norm with F&P parts. The dryer has always taken an excessively long time to dry our laundry completely, and the lint collection is very poor. Now, eight years later, the control panel is out on the washer again. The appliance store where I purchased them no longer carries this brand. I am debating whether to scrap this washer or try to have it fixed. I am very dissatisfied with this brand. I sure thought I could expect more than 8 years out of them for the price I paid to buy them.

I have finally purchased a different brand of range and the never-functioning, Fisher Paykel 36 dual oven range will be hauled out of here. I have replaced the entire ignition system in this range, three times. These units are not cheap and that you cannot get the larger oven to turn on, and stay on, its ridiculous. F&P product quality has bottomed out. Our first set of Fisher & Paykel washer and dryer worked very well. We sold them with the house in FL. We relocated to TN and purchased the newer model washer and dryer, and sorry to say, will never purchase another F&P product again. The DEGX1 dryer has broken down multiple times (no heat or taking hours to dry a load of clothes). The lint trap is extremely inefficient. We have had to repair the dryer and put out money when we could barely buy food. The washer that we purchased at the same time does not effectively wash clothes and they have to be rewashed. 2 yr old Fisher Paykel Dryer - We purchased a Fisher Paykel Washer many years ago that worked great and never needed repair. When we downsized we sold it with our home. We purchased a new FP washer and dryer when we moved to our Condo. Our new dryer stopped working on December 28, 2017. Electronic Motherboard burned out. Was only several months out of warranty. I was told when I called FP Customer Care that because it was only a few months out of Warranty they might refund the service charge (I think this kind of thing must happen often and they want to keep their customers happy). I went to FP Website which works well to locate qualified local service companies. They scheduled me within a week. Aside from being annoyed at the inconvenience of not having the use of my dryer over holidays, things went well in the beginning.Local Service Tech came out on January 2, 2018 with the correct part and repaired quickly. Because it was no longer under warranty I paid $258 for the part and service. I contacted the US Customer Service number that is in New Zealand, not in the US. I emailed them the Original Purchase and Repair receipts. I was finally sent an email with a CASE AUTHORITY NO. ** on January 26. I was told that the service company would refund my money. Turns out that was incorrect information. After another 12 phone calls (it turn out some were made to me from Customer Support using a local New Zealand phone number and, because I redialed in error, I now owe $84 to AT&T for 20 minutes in International charges) I was assured more than once since receiving the CASE AUTHORITY NO. ** on January 26 that a check would be sent within 7-10 business days. No one in Customer Support seems to know how this check will be issued or how it will be sent. Several times one of those I talked to put me on hold to consult with a supervisor. There were many excuses. I was told that the check couldnt be issued through their new system or it was being updated or the order for refund had been sent to the wrong department. It is now March 14, 2018. I will be calling again today. I should be billing them for MY time spent and the International phone calls made in error. (In all my years as a homeowner or in business I have never made International phone calls when calling Customer Service. Sometimes to India or Philippines etc. Who would have thought Customer Service would use a local phone number.) I have reached the end of my patience here. To be continued.

I have waited 5 weeks for a tech to repair my gas cook top and have been given the run around with the customer service team all this time. Firstly, they gave me the phone number of a tech to ring and organise the repair of this warranty claim myself. He was not very helpful at all and after days of correspondence he told me that he doesnt service my suburb. Two weeks after my first call, I called again and they put me onto another tech, that I also had to call myself and arrange the repair. He told me that if I was willing to pay the travel time he would repair my unit but didnt normally cover my suburb, I told him to liaise with F&P as they would be responsible for this. He was quite helpful over a period of days and was liaising with F&P but when he actually determined that he couldnt fix the issue and a F&P tech needed to be utilised he told me that F&P would be in touch to organise a time and date. Another 2 weeks passed and I had heard nothing from F&P so I rang the customer service line again this Monday (4 weeks from the initial call), to see what was happening. The customer service representative told me that my job had been booked in for this coming Wednesday and to expect a technician between 7:00am and 5:00pm. I was astounded that nobody from F&P had contacted me prior, in regards to this booking, ok I was grateful that somebody was actually going to turn up!I took the day off work on the Wednesday (yesterday) and at 3-00pm I rang the customer service line yet again to see if the technician was going to turn up. Bearing in mind that every time you ring this line you are on hold and listening to the most annoying tone anywhere from 25 - 45 minutes. I finally got connected to a very nice customer service representative who was very apologetic and told me that my job had not been booked in, quite contrary to what I was told on Monday! Imagine my disbelief! She put me on hold and contacted a tech who said he knew nothing about the job but did have the required part arrive at his place today and didnt know who it was for!!! That doesnt sound right!Anyway I kept my cool and they stated that the tech would attend to my job this morning before lunchtime. At 1-00pm I rang the Customer service line again and was on hold for 45 mins and when I got through they told me that my job was not booked in and I would not get a technician to my place today. I asked to speak to the manager who conveniently wasnt available and I wont hold my breath in the hope that they call me back this afternoon to get this rectified. Very, very, very poor service in relation to warranty claims.

We bought a dual drawer Fisher & Paykel dishwasher in 2009 for a house that we were building. Due to problems with the builder, the dishwasher sat unpacked in a garage for a year. When it was finally installed, it didnt work! First, the bottom drawer didnt drain. We called a plumber to come look at it. He called the Fisher & Paykel appliance rep. They recommended that we install two separate drain lines. It still didnt drain. The appliance guy and plumber each came out again and we even tried a different plumber. Now the bottom drawer drains but the top one doesnt, which completely defeats the purpose of having a dual drawer dishwasher. We contacted Fisher and Paykel and Lowes where we purchased the appliance and neither would offer any assistance as the warranty had expired. We have only used the machine 20 times. Its such a shame and waste. Our KitchenAid dual drawer dishwasher at our old home worked much better with no problems. We had bought this one because we were told it was quieter. There were a couple of things I liked, one of which is the favorites button of the washer. I have had 2 technicians come, neither seemed to know how to fix it, and after paying $132, I still dont have a dishwasher that is running correctly. One of the technicians indicated it had been installed wrong. Im an architect and I specify Fisher&Paykel appliances in projects but this was personal residence and I had a Fisher&Paykel and I wanted a Fisher&Paykel again when our old dish drawer was beginning to have some issues after 12 years...

I saw Fisher & Paykel advertised on television. We didnt actually go looking for that make at the time. It was just one that wed come across. It was about what we were after, on sale. But we had looked at them before up in London. We purchased a refrigerator. It didnt start out very good. When we bought it, they showed us a small pinhole dent in the front door which we thought was fine, and theyd reduced the price. When it arrived here, it seemed to have a couple of dents that we hadnt seen before in it. We dont know whether wed missed them or they happened when they were bringing them down. But they brought it in and the controls wouldnt work. It would work as a refrigerator but you couldnt control anything. So we complained to the place where we bought it, and they werent allowed to service it for the first year. We had to get some service people out of St. Thomas. They were good, checked it out, and it wouldnt work. They had to order a new front panel control unit and it took about 2 or 3 weeks. They got it here, plugged it in, and it has worked fine since. The appliance is good once it was operational but the place where we bought it, we wouldnt set foot in the door again because we didnt get very good service.

I purchased a Dish Drawer dishwasher for a kitchen remodel in 2008. I was lured by the fact there are two (2) independent washer units; one on top of the other which allowed flexibility in cleaning as well as potential addition kitchen utensil storage. Troubles began within the first 90-days. I have summoned kitchen appliance repair companies listed as authorized by Fisher Paykel numerous times with the last service attendant indicating there are serious design flaws with the appliance. At this date the following had been experienced: The bottom dishwasher unit is completely non-functional, the touch wash controls in the operating unit do not work correctly; and now are stuck in one washer cycle. I was informed by one of the techs that came out there is a design flaw that allows water to seep into the controls. For $1,500 for a dishwasher I would have expected more. What is more alarming is the sales rep when I bought the appliance indicated the manufacturer also made kidney dialysis machines. If this is the case (and my research indicates this is true) there are numerous fatalities if the quality of the dialysis machines is the same as the Dish Drawer. Do not under any circumstances purchase anything this Company makes. The quality is terrible!!!

Im a kitchen and bath designer so I know about Fisher & Paykel. We have them in the showroom at the last place I worked, and I inherited that when I bought the display, when we downsized after the crash, and I just replaced it. I put it in my sister and brother-in-laws house, and they love it. Its a great appliance for Californians and retired people who are you know downsizing their homes, as their kids go off to school. Its also great for young couples with kids because they can do one load. The dishwasher is great because of the two drawers. Besides, its a New Zealand product.

My old refrigerator was failing. I had a refrigerator Sub-Zero that was built in so I started shopping for something that would fit and I went to Fisher&Paykel’s website trying to look for something similar in size and that was one of the ones I felt would fit my area better. Ive never heard of Fisher & Paykel before but I have a nephew that did and lives close to me. I knew he sells appliances so I contacted him. He told me that he had been selling appliances for over 10 years and he was very satisfied with Fisher & Paykel so I purchased my refrigerator from them. I like the arrangement and I like the stainless steel that they put on the exterior because I find its easy to clean. It’s a great product.

We purchased the washer and dryer 5 years ago as appliance sales people everywhere gave the set rave reviews. Their excitement had to be due to huge spiffs or incentives for selling these as I have never owned anything so problematic. Among the issues, no service people know how or want to repair them. The washer doesnt clean clothes, water temp is never correct, and there are error codes. The dryer doesnt catch lint, it is noisy and it stopped working. I have been told by several salespeople, They are so easy to work on. Very few moving parts, etc. What no one tells you is that moving parts are very inexpensive compared to the circuit boards needed to possibly fix my dryer so it will run. $360.00 for the parts and who knows for labor! Despicable! I will never do business with Fisher & Paykel again nor will I pay to talk to a service rep on line. Very poor customer service.

I went to Warners Stellian here in the Twin Cities. I asked what are my options for a 36-inch unit. I had no background on Fisher & Paykel. I got their 36-inch stove. It works, it heats up to temperature. The burners on top are a little bit more aggressive. I would have liked to have a different simmer burner than what I have on there but all things considered, I would give it a 9 out of 10. It is beautiful. I didnt buy it originally because of cost. Its truly a beautiful piece of equipment. I would definitely consider, its a beautiful artistic design and it looks absolutely stunning in my kitchen. It was nineteen years before I got a kitchen remodel and it is a beautiful piece.. Theres a glitch for some reason - if I start the burner on top, it can turn the oven off, I have to be real careful for that. Im not sure why, I should probably check into it. But this is what I like the best out of it and Ill be honest with you - the oven heats to temperature PERFECTLY. And I have such a respect for that because thats what its supposed to do. Thats why you buy an oven! That Whirlpool took an hour to heat to 300 and you have to set it. You dont have enough paper to write my comments on that one.

The Fisher Paykel dual drawer dishwasher is an excellent new example of high quality and performance in a kitchen dish washing appliance. The dual drawer is engineered wonderfully to provide multiple ways to perform, and perform it does! The two drawers provide flexibility beyond a normal/standard design. The loading capabilities are different yet provided with a lot of forethought given to providing space. It utilizes much more of the actual inside space of the two drawer/washers. Once you understand the loading capabilities of the provided inside racks and adjustment capabilities, the loading capabilities are creative and useful. Three simple buttons on the outside of each drawer provide easy execution of functions. The dual washers are extremely easy to start, stop or pause at any time, using the three simple buttons. The system has various wash cycles and times all easily accessed and executed by another single button conveniently located inside either drawers top edge. A small LED lit screen on each drawer face provides a moving icon that lets the user know have knowledge of what stage of a cycle the wash drawer is executing. The LED also shows the cycle time duration working backwards from a start time to the finish of the cycle. The Fisher Paykel system is very quiet working washer. Yes, you can hear some functions executing some times during the cycle, but it is very quiet overall. Most importantly, the Fisher Paykel Dual Washing system cleans and shines dishes, glassware and utensils with precision to a sparkling bright clean. This is especially true if the user does not allow large amounts of food to enter the system. Pre-rinsing is any dishwashers best friend! Use this kitchen appliance/tool correctly, and you will have a great dish washing experience with this product. By far, the Fisher Paykel Dual Dish Washing system is the highest quality, best working, and easy to use dish washing appliance I have ever had in any of my kitchens. I highly recommend the Fisher Paykel Dual Drawer Dish Washing Appliance/System for any kitchen.

A girlfriend of mine had the two drawer dishwasher that she bought about 5 years ago and I just loved that. So when we went to remodel our kitchen, we put in Fisher & Paykel dishwasher. We also have the DCS stove and microwave or cooktop, microwave & oven. All of our appliances are Fisher & Paykel. Everything was good until just recently when we were not too happy. We had to wait 3 weeks to get a part for our oven that stopped working and its only 6 months old... We like the actual appliances. Its just the fact that its so long to get any kind of parts in and then we had also paid for the extended warranty on them so we paid quite a bit extra just to have them and then had to deal with waiting.

I purchased a Fisher Paykel Washer and Dryer in 2009. The washer has worked okay, except for two instances in which the pump wouldnt drain its water and investigation determined the pump had been obstructed by lint. The dryer is another issue altogether. The first problem came just over a year into owning this appliance. The bearing was deemed failed and it had to be replaced. The bearing is less than a year old and the dryer again sounds like bare metal grinding on bare metal. Now...the dryer had to be serviced for heating problems. Specifically, the dryer would run for hours without drying the clothes. It was determined that the lint sensor trips the heater to prevent fire...makes sense, but further investigation found that the fine mesh screen which serves as a filter has dry-rotted and failed, so lint quickly moves to the inside of the appliance and repeatedly triggers the safety mechanism.Question: Why should I have to take this unit apart every couple of days to clean it? The design is obviously flawed. Ive never done such a thing to the previous dryer I owned, nor have my parents...even when there were eight of us in the house. Sadly, I was given the entire song and dance about how wonderful these high priced, gilded turds would save me time and money. Nothing is further from the truth. While the appliance technician has been friendly and helpful (once I can get in touch with him), these appliances have been miserable to own. I share my house with four others and the laundry piles up quickly...not to mention the fact that the dryer is a fire waiting to happen. I had a Whirlpool standard dryer that was seven years old and I got rid of it when I bought these gems...it still worked. What was I thinking? Now the decision must be made...shell out a few hundred bucks for a poorly designed lint filter and service, or, look for an older standard dryer. Guess what...Goodbye Fisher Paykel! Note to others: Stay well clear of this high tech junk.

We were looking for a second refrigerator in our home, and went to a company called Pacific Sales. They were closing that particular store, and the Fisher & Paykel unit we bought was probably a previous years floor model. Its got a lot of bells and whistles, one of which was not working - some alarms thing or something was bad. We called the service company and they came out and took care of it. It was a new unit and it had this problem... but other than that everythings been great. Our Fisher & Paykel dishwasher drawers came in the house when we bought it and we havent replaced them yet. We do have problems with it. Sometimes the lid does not like to open and close correctly. We had a repairman come out and showed us what to do to try and remedy that. And then the top one for some reason will go all the way through the cycle when its on the short cycle but when its on the regular cycle, it stops halfway through. Maybe if they’re brand new, everything would be working okay, but this unit is probably about 8 to 10 years old.

Fisher and Paykel dryer DEIX2 - I purchased this dryer at Lowes approximate
Fisher and Paykel dryer DEIX2 - I purchased this dryer at Lowes approximately 4 years ago. During the four years, weve had the lint scraper replaced two times. It has broken again. When the lint scraper breaks, all of the lint from your clothes ends up getting caught inside the mechanism of the dryer or pushed out the dryer vent. We typically know we have a problem when the clothes stop drying in a timely manner; little lint is in our lint trap and the dryer vent has visible lint blocking it from the exterior of the house. It is somewhat surprising this dryer has not caused a fire. Ive had enough of worrying about lint getting trapped in our dryer vent and/or our lint trap breaking. The lint trap works perfectly for a short time frame, but the design and materials are not nearly robust enough for the premium you pay for this product. There is absolutely no question, this is the absolute worst appliance or piece of equipment Ive every purchased. I would give the dryer 0 stars if that was an option.

I had a service call due to excessive squeaking. The lint trap screen failed and was subsequently replaced. I also had the washer looked at, because the water was not filling. And drain tube was fixed. He said we would probably need to replace the bearings. My husband replaced the drum bearing, but the drum belt tension roller bearings are original and are probably the culprit of the continued squeak. Also, the dryer not drying very well. Due to economic restraints and cost of bearing and poor design that make service costly, we are looking at ditching the dryer. Based on the premium purchase price, the dryer is certainly not looking to provide the 15- to 20-year trouble-free service life expectancy; and we are highly dissatisfied with this product. My husband has been out of work (under-employed for the past 4, going on 5 years), so service calls are costly. It would be cheaper for us to park it on the curb and buy used reliable dryer than to provide service. Can you help us out? It sure would keep us F&P fans. I have seen you have provided repair for others free of charge. I would appreciate if you could offer the same treatment in our case. Thanks. I purchased a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher in 2001 because I thought that the two drawers would be great since there are just two of us at home. Directly out of the box, this dishwasher had a dented stainless steel panel on one of the drawers. The water sensor was defective in the other, which caused noisy alarms and error messages. It only got better from there. Both drawers seals were defective and replaced multiple times in the first year. When the seal again caused alarms to go off after the warranty, the bill was over $150.00 each time this happened. These drawers were lemons from the start and should have been replaced. I have not used the machine for eight years. My husband and I do our dishes by hand. However, my current horror with this product is that now, to add insult to injury, the two drawers take turns in making beeping and/or clicking noises and the lights flash. This leads us to turn off the circuit breaker. Since my trash compactor is also on that circuit, I am unable to use everything in the kitchen that is also on that circuit--unless I go to the basement and turn on the breaker. This product is not worth the effort of purchasing. After the first year of keeping the machine running, I was told that the changes were made to the drawers that improved the quality and reliability. This purchase has been a horrible experience and I would never recommend this product to a friend. Just the thought of paying another $1,800.00 to some company for a machine to wash my dishes gives me pause to say the least. I am extremely disappointed in every aspect of this product. Certainly, the design, workmanship, quality control, value and servicing have failed to meet its intended purpose.

Eco-Smart Washer WA37T26GW2 - I purchased this machine at Lowes for my new home because the salesman raved about Fisher Paykel quality which was my first mistake. I was smart enough to take out the extended warranty from Lowes. After just one year single guy doing ONE LOAD per week. The balance sensor and electronics panel had to be replaced - three service calls, because they received the wrong parts calls and a month later it was fixed. After two weeks same problem and three weeks. Finally problem was resolved and because of the warranty no cost to me. OK fine inconvenience but no biggie. Two years after this issues with the motor or something all in all cost me $350 TO FIX. I WAS PISSED. Now after 5 years of crappy reliability it again seems to have the original issue.. NO friggin way am I fixing this poorly designed and manufactured washer again. Time for a cheapo depo Chinese washer that will no doubt out last this $750 (original cost) POS! over $1000 lesson learned. Stay away from Fisher Paykel appliances.

Fisher Paykel has the most inefficient customer service/repair arrangement I have ever seen. FP provided me with three numbers/businesses to contact for washer repairs. Two local companies do not service my area. The one that does service my area, A&E factory repair, does not have a contract with Fisher Paykel. Imagine! Call them, but there is no agreement! I have an authorization for parts from FP but A&E will not order them unless I pay for the parts and try to get reimbursed from FP. FP says we dont accept this authorization. Since the companies dont work together, hows that going to happen? I have made at least a dozen calls to FP and A&E and each help line tells me to call the other one for help. After looking at other comments about FP washers on this site, and from my own experience, Im convinced that FP appliances are money pits and health and electrical hazards. Customer Service numbers are merely smile and nod over the phone tools. ..frustration will make the customer go elsewhere.

I saw Fisher Paykel through Consumer Reports years ago. Im a repeat customer of that company. Its my third or fourth purchase with them - the latest being a washer and dryer. Their lifespan isnt as long as it used to be. Theyre not built like they were back 25 years ago when you could have one for 20 years. Not so much plastic should be used in manufacturing some of the push buttons and things that tend to break or wear out over time. The whole face is plastic and the face tends to crack on the buttons that you use consistently. There should be more flexibility in the fabric that theyre using for those push buttons. Theyre pretty simple machines. The noise level on the washer is pretty high. It sounds like you have an airplane in your house. Besides that and things breaking that are too expensive to repair, theyre fine. They wash the clothes and they get them clean. Thats all I can ask for.

The washer is quiet and convenient. We are able to run two loads at the same time, but with different cycles. The drawers are great also because we can do smaller loads of dishes and while one drawer is running we can fill the other. Another great feature is the stainless steal finish - it doesnt mark. You can literally rub your hands all over it and it wont mark. Friends of ours have a Bosch - nice washer but it always looks dirty because of fingerprints all over it. (They have kids.) This time after only 6 or 7 years, the dryer will cost $450 to fix, plus the $117 service call. I paid what I thought was a fortune for them both, being told they were the best out there. I have hated them since I got them. I went yesterday and bought a $498 set of Whirlpool washer and dryer to replace them. I cant wait to get them. I am going to throw my Fisher & Paykel in the trash and tell everyone I know not to buy their products. The retailer even told me that they are not built to last more than 6 to 7 years. We have a friend who had a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher. Ours had broken and the man who sold the two drawer dishwasher to us encouraged us to buy it as well. However, we dont particularly like it. The design is awful. We can hardly put any dishes in there. We have to run our dishwasher several times more than we would have to run a traditional dishwasher. You can put eight glasses in, and only a certain number of dishes and it has to be the right shape and size. Its really a pain. We wouldnt have purchased it. If we knew what it was like to live with it, we wouldnt do it again. We have another dishwasher in another home that we own, and that dishwasher is a much lower-end brand and its just a much better performing dishwasher too. Even when the dishes come out, we frequently have to put them back in again or wash them again.

F-P Top Loading Washing Machine - I would never buy a F-P Product again. We purchased our machine from a local appliance store. After 3 years, the pump broke because a coin had been left in a pocket and got into the pump. We have been waiting for more than three weeks for the part, and the store said the labor cost to install the new one will be high. A machine that will be ruined by a coin slipping into the pump is not a good design. Also, this machine cannot handle anything but a light load before becoming unbalanced.

3 pumps in 5 years - We purchased our Fisher & Paykel washer in 2008 at Beesons, Lafayette, IN. They also did the warranty work for us. They replaced the pump while under warranty. A few years ago, my husband replaced the pump himself. Now, my pump is out again; the part is $130. We have decided to not put any more money into this appliance. I plan to go shopping for a new washer and will not be buying a Fisher& Paykel appliance ever again. Im curious. Is this normal for a Fisher & Paykel?

The dishwasher is not cleaning very well. I wanted to ask a Fisher & Paykel representative a question and could not contact anyone that could give me an answer without paying for it.

Washsmart 8.5 kg. If you pause the wash in the deep rinse cycle so you can add fabric softener it will drain the water. If you use the fabric softener dispenser, the softener is dispensed during the spray rinse. The lid lock activates during the deep rinse cycle, the reason I was told was because a child drowned in the w/machine. BTW the lid lock does not activate during the wash cycle. I hate this machine, I am 64yo and this was to be my last investment in the washer dept. I am going to see if I can get this thing re-programmed! Totally useless. Had the Smartdrive7.2. $800 down the drain.
