Fisher Washer Troubleshooting

If you're looking for help fixing your Fisher Washer, look no further! Our comprehensive Fisher Washer Troubleshooting guide will explain common issues, provide tips, and show you how to read your model's error codes.

The washing machine won't turn on
Check that the washing machine is plugged in and switched on at the wall. Try another power socket to be sure.
Check that there has not been a power failure at your address.
Switch the power off, wait 60 seconds and switch it back on to reset the machine.

The machine won't fill when the Start/Pause button is pressed
Check that the door of the machine is closed properly.
Check that the wash cycle has not been paused. If so, the Start/Pause button will be flashing. Press the Start/Pause button again to restart the cycle.
Check for an error code on the machine's front panel.
Check the hot and cold water taps that supply your machine are turned on.
Check for blocked filters in the inlet hoses. Clear blockages and try again.
Check for and straighten any kinks in the water hoses.

The washing machine stops working mid-cycle
Check for an error code on the machine's front panel.
Check that there has not been a power failure at your address. If so, restart the wash cycle once the power supply is restored.
Check that the wash cycle has not been paused. If so, the Start/Pause button will be flashing. Simply press the Start/Pause button again to restart the cycle.
A build-up of detergent suds can cause this problem. Check that you are using a frontloader-specific detergent. The wash cycle will restart when the suds have dissolved.

The washing machine drains while it is filling
Check that the drainage hose is installed correctly and is not too low.
Check that the outlet end of the drainage hose is not sitting in water.

The washing machine isn't draining
Check for blockages in the drainage hose. Clear and try again.
Check that the pump filter isn't blocked.
Check that the drainage hose is not more than 1200mm above floor level. If it is too high, adjust and try again.

The washing machine is filling continuously
Check that the drainage hose is positioned in the standpipe or tub. If not, adjust and try again.
Check that the standpipe or tub is at least 800mm above floor level to avoid siphoning.

The washing machine's rinse cycle isn't working properly
Check that you are using a low-suds, frontloader-specific detergent.
Check that you're not using too much detergent.
Check that the wash load is distributed evenly in the machine.
Try the machine's Rinse + function.

The washing machine isn't spinning properly
Check that the wash load is distributed evenly in the machine.
Check that your machine is not rocking or moving while it is running. If necessary, adjust the feet so that the machine is level.

The washing machine is producing too many suds
Check that you're using a low-suds, frontloader-specific detergent.
Check that you're not using too much detergent.

Water is coming from the bottom of the washing machine
Check that the drainage hoses are not damaged and are fitted correctly. If not, adjust and try again. Monitor the wash cycle when you suspect leaks.
Too many detergent suds can cause this problem. Check that you are using the correct amount of a frontloader-specific detergent. Monitor the wash cycle when you suspect leaks.
Check that the detergent dispenser drawer is closed properly.
Check the rubber seal on the inside of the door for damage. If the seal is damaged, it will need to be replaced.

The wash cycle is taking longer than normal/the machine is displaying inaccurate time remaining
Your machine's wash cycle time is an approximation and can vary depending on a number of factors, including household water pressure, unbalanced wash loads and a build-up of detergent suds. Differing cycle times will not affect the quality of the wash.

Detergent/fabric conditioner is left in the detergent dispenser drawer at the end of the wash cycle
Check that the detergent dispenser drawer is closed properly from the start of the wash cycle.
Check that the detergent dispenser drawer is clean.
Check that the detergent dispenser drawer has not been overfilled.
Check for blockages in the detergent dispenser drawer. If liquid is sitting at Max Level in the dispenser drawer at the end of the wash cycle, it may be blocked.
It is normal for a small amount of water to remain in the detergent dispenser drawer at the end of the wash cycle.

Washsmart 8.5 kg. If you pause the wash in the deep rinse cycle so you can add fabric softener it will drain the water. If you use the fabric softener dispenser, the softener is dispensed during the spray rinse. The lid lock activates during the deep rinse cycle, the reason I was told was because a child drowned in the w/machine. BTW the lid lock does not activate during the wash cycle. I hate this machine, I am 64yo and this was to be my last investment in the washer dept. I am going to see if I can get this thing re-programmed! Totally useless. Had the Smartdrive7.2. $800 down the drain.

[COMPLAINT] POOR SERVICE! I had a scheduled repair / service on my washing machine today. The service was supposed to occur between 7 am and 12 pm. At 12:45 pm I rang customer service. They advised that there were many people off sick and the technician was running late. (My reply is why didnt someone ring me to let me know they would be late?) He would be at my house in 30 to 60 minutes. At 3:45 I rang to speak to someone to find out what was going on. I spoke to Daniel who then advised that the technician had tried contacting me but couldnt reach us. He double checked my details and everything they had was correct. He advised they could come back tomorrow as the technician went home. I advised I couldnt wait any more than what I had done today. I asked to speak to a supervisor, her name was Tanya. Tanya then said the same. I said this wasnt good enough that I had taken this much time off and she agreed. She asked what I wanted and I suggested Fisher and Paykel should pay for the repairs. She said they couldnt do this, but that something should be done. I asked what and she said she couldnt make that decision now and she would be back on Thursday to let me know. Fisher and Paykel you need to seriously pick up your customer service game. This is not appropriate.

We bought a Fisher and Paykel washer in May last year. After 6 months we realized that washer never used hot water. It was washing the clothes always in cold water. When contacting the company they referred us to a local repair company. The technician came in today and diagnosed that the problem was with electronic module and electronic water valves. It will take 4-12 weeks for the parts to arrive. Are they using the boat to ship the parts from China? Perhaps someone should whisper to Fisher & Paykel: Federal Express. They need to improve the quality of their products. I will stay away from any Fisher & Paykel products.

I previously posted a complaint on January 24, 2012 about my washing machine. After my post, Fisher Paykel contacted me promptly and a repairman came out and repaired my washer, free of charge. I wished I had first contacted the company and given them a chance before posting a complaint. I cant speak for others, but my complaint was handled in a very professional and proficient manner and Im elated to have my washer working again.

The guy who has fixed our appliances in our house recommended the Fisher & Paykel washer. He said it was a really good washing machine. He has seen it. He’s installed it a few times. He thinks it’s great. And weve used him for years so we trusted him, so we bought that. We have been happy with the washing machine so far.

I had a Maytag that I had been suffering through with for two years and hat
I had a Maytag that I had been suffering through with for two years and hated it unbelievably and I did not want one of those front loader machines because of all the mold and whatever issues with the door, and I have to worry about leaving the door open and cleaning the door, cleaning the machine and all that stuff for I got the Maytag and oh my God! I felt like it did a terrible job. I dont like my washing machine being locked for a big long period of time that I cant get into it and I have to sit there and wait and wait. It was horrible. I only used it on one cycle and that was the cycle that filled it all the way up because it didnt do a good job the rest of the time. Finally, I just had enough and I started researching, which I had researched when I bought that one too. But I started researching and really reading a ton of consumer information out there on the internet. I noticed that some other people have had the same problem I had and they bought this Fisher & Paykel. My husband knew I was looking for one and he came up with the same one. I said, Well, I dont know. I guess Ill try it. Well order it from Sears. I paid 200 and some dollars just to have it brought to me. But it was supposed to be new in the box so I ordered it from their outlet. Ever since I have gotten it, the minute you pushed for it to unlock, it stops immediately and its unlocked. And so, thats not an issue for me at all. It doesnt finish its cycle and then unlock. I truly love it. And I choose my own level that its going to be at. You can do that or you can let it do its own thing. I checked it a couple of times when Ive let it do its own thing and it seems just to fill it to where it should. But Im kind of old school so I like to choose my own water level. Also, sometimes Ill wash a load and do a little bit of a bleach in it, and then I want to rewash the whole thing. Once that water spins out of there, I can push it forward to be done with the cycle and start it over again, and that works. The other one did not work - I had to let it complete and for being so energy efficient it used so much energy you just cant even believe. This one, you still get to tell it what to do, you are in charge of it, and it does an excellent job.

Fisher and Paykel make good products. The reason why I had to finally contact their service department was because after 17 years of faithful service, early in May of this year our washing machine lid broke a hinge. So I contacted them, provided make, model and serial number and a description of the fault. On 31st May their serviceman came. He had no knowledge of the make, model and serial number or the fault, so had no parts with him to effect a repair, but nevertheless charged us $125 and said he would be back within the week. We havent seen him since. Three weeks elapsed. I rang F & Ps 24/7 line and asked politely what was going on. They said they had contacted their parts depot and they would get back to me within the week with an ETA for the lid and the serviceman. They did not do this. Finally on Wednesday I rang them again and intimated in no uncertain terms that I was extremely annoyed with the situation. They told me that the serviceman would get back to me that afternoon. They lied. He hasnt. So I am drawn to the reluctant conclusion that this companys after-sales service department is staffed by a bunch of people whose sole reason for going to work is to get paid, and employs tradespeople of a similar mindset. My recommendation? Do not buy Fisher and Paykel - their products are fine, but if they break down they will not service them, and they will charge you for the privilege of not servicing them.

My Fisher Paykel washing machine quit working. After venting about my Fisher Paykel washing machine, I was contacted about my issue. To my surprise, I was contacted by the company and my machine was fixed, free of charge, within 5 hours. As it turns out, the washer that I had thought was just a piece of junk turned out to be so sophisticated that it shut itself down rather than short out and possibly burn down my house! I will now only buy Fisher Paykel appliances!

Wow. I wish I had read these reviews before buying my FP washer. I thought I had a great item. Same story. At least, I got nearly four years out of it, exceptional compared to other stories! Whining noise, just drains water, no wash cycle, Ive thought of calling a repairman but based on these reviews, I am going to trash this mess and get a Maytag. The American consumer is fed up with paying top dollar for poor products. This company will be hanging its head when they go out of business due to poor sales. Do not buy FP! Shame on you corporate greed FP! Your sales up this month? See what they are in five years. You have to get 10 happy customers to offset the decrease in sales due to one dissatisfied customer (Business 101). From the look of these reviews, one would say youre behind the eight ball.Who has money to throw away like this? Public school teacher who hasnt had a raise or COLA in four years in a non-union state (very low wages), widow, raising three kids alone, cost of living and gas prices increasing exponentially. And the clothes washer dies, in spite of the $800 or so I spent on it four years ago. How much did the CEO of Fisher-Paykel net last year? Corporate greed and environmental devastation, how long will it take my lousy washing machine to biodegrade in some landfill? Americans are fed up.

We bought a slightly used machine and for 2 weeks, things were fine. Then during the wash, the machine would stop with an error code indicating a problem with a motor sensor. Then after a month or so, the machine would not run - just the same error soon after the washer was started. There was no repair service that I could identify in our area. Anyway, after numerous attempts to run the machine, I let it sit for about 2 weeks unplugged. Then I tried it again, and it works like a champ now. The washer has completed 7 loads with no errors. This is an excellent machine when it works. And if it continues to do so, I would certainly recommend it to anyone who could afford the purchase price.

Tonight is the third time that my washer has stopped working. It does not drain now and will not power on. This washer has been nothing but trouble since purchased. I regret ever getting rid of my old washer. It was dependable. I think this is a sub-standard product and after reading the reviews here, I see that I am not the only person that feels this way. You should not have to have service on such a new product as often as you do on this. I am in good mind to just junk it and go buy a cheap regular washer that I can depend on. I am very frustrated and I am telling everyone that I know to stay away from this product. I have called customer service and left messages, but so far I have not had a return call. The customer service is horrible, too.

Phenomenal service from F&P - We purchased a F&P Ecosmart washing m
Phenomenal service from F&P - We purchased a F&P Ecosmart washing machine from Lowe’s in August 2008 at the salespersons behest. We didnt purchase the store warranty as our previous Amana washing machine lasted for 13 years. A few months before the 2-year manufacturers warranty expired, the washing machine stopped working. We contacted F&P and they quickly had it fixed at their expense with a pump replacement. Well, it happened again this week, only now its four years from date of purchase and we have no warranty. So last night, I was surfing the web about problems with these machines and came across this site. I thought wed just be stuck with a lemon since there are so many complaints, so we had resolved to just get rid of the machine and buy another brand instead of having anyone try to fix it. But in reviewing this site, I saw someone from F&P posting to every complaint, apologizing to the customer and giving a phone number to call. So I called the number last night and left a voicemail, not really expecting to hear from anyone. Well, someone from F&P (Lisette) called me back first thing this morning! And less than four hours after speaking with her, I am sitting here at home listening to the sound of my working washing machine again! She sent someone out at F&Ps expense. He replaced the defective pump with a newly designed pump that he assured me should last a very, very long time. He said we shouldnt have any more problems with it at all. So I am quite amazed at F&Ps quick and caring response! So even though we would do a lot more research before buying another F&P machine, I can personally testify that at least they stand behind the problems their machines have! Id like to think that an American company wouldve done the same, but something tells me otherwise. Thank you very much Lisette!

My Fisher & Paykel Washer failed to pump out water or complete a spin c
My Fisher & Paykel Washer failed to pump out water or complete a spin cycle. The technician from the store that we bought it from, determined that the pump was not operating and needed to be replaced. This company no longer carries Fisher& Paykel products mainly because it continues to change replacement parts, and have poor support in receiving parts. He did contact the Service Dept. for F&K and was able to find the part number needed for the pump. My wife had to contact them to order and pay for the part. After receiving the shippings tracking number and date of delivery, it became a waiting game. When the package did not arrive on the expected date, my wife contacted the customer service personnel and initially was informed that they could not find the order; then determined that the order did not ship because an additional part was required for the pump. As luck would have it, this part was not in California but was located somewhere in Kentucky.By and large, someone took it upon himself to cancel the order, but failed to inform us of the situation. My wife now had to get the correct information, order the part, trust the so-called experts to credit our charge account, and play the waiting game. Mind you, 2 weeks has lapsed since this process began. When the much awaited part arrived, we had to wait another 4 days for the service tech to install it. Today when I arrived home from work, I found my wife in tears and on the verge of a mental breakdown. The part was installed and when the tech ran a cycle through the machine with a load of clothes in it, it failed to pump the water out again. To make a long story short, when he talked to a tech at F&P, he was informed that a change made to their parts required that the motherboard also needs to be replaced at the time a new part was installed. Now we are talking an additional $190 for the part and $25 for shipping and handling. The total cost with parts already received was $357. NFW are we going to continue to pump money in to this money pit. To fix this problem, we have ordered a new washing machine but it is not an F&K product.Never again will we waste good money on any product by F&P. Not only will we no longer support the products of this company, we will seek out every opportunity to express our dissatisfaction and terrible experience to anyone that will listen. This is the worst buying and service after the sale experience that we have ever encountered. I can only hope that F&Ps competition will eventually drive them out of business.

Fisher-Paykel washer, replaced the pump twice. Works great after more than 10 years. Price has gone up, I would look to other brands for a replacement though. This washer is easy to repair and very reliable. I have replaced the agitator once, about $100, did it myself. The design lends itself to easy repair by the owner. I would recommend the deep clean cycle with washing soda at least once per month for optimally clean clothes. Just program the clean cycle, dump in the washing soda and turn it on.

I absolutely hated the Maxima Maytag set that I had gotten and had been a Maytag person for about 30 years. I actually got rid of it, a very recent purchase of a Maytag frontloading set, because I didn’t like them at all and I like this Fisher & Paykel top loading set a lot. I love it! I’m really pleased with the purchase. It’s much more efficient. It’s easy, easy, easy, easy to use, not complicated at all. I like the fact that it’s simple and that it doesn’t have a lot of extras that I don’t need and would never use. But actually, even as it is, it has more than I use now, but it’s good. Space-wise, it’s not as deep, which is great, because in my case, I was kind of surprised by the depth of the front loader and it was inconvenient because it got in our way. So that was another reason why I got rid of the other one. And I’d only had the other set for a year. There’s two comments that I’d like to make with this F&P set… First thing is that I’m unhappy not being able to soak clothes because that’s a nuisance. I’m used to old top loaders where you could fill up the tub, put some bleach in there and soak it overnight, and you can’t do that with this. And unless there’s a way that I can be taught how to do it, I actually called the main headquarters and they simply said it wasn’t possible. Secondly, I’m not sure if it’s what I’ve been using for laundry soap, but it seems like things are a little dingier than they used to be. I’m not sure. I think that might be the soap that I’m using. It’s the whites aren’t getting as white as I’m used to. But I don’t think that’s the washing machine; I think that’s my products. The cleaning products that I use, I’ve always made my own, and I’ve never had a problem with things getting completely clean before and it seems like maybe there’s a residue because they’re not using as much water. And so, I changed back to the high efficiency stuff and everything seems just fine, but it’s a lot more expensive than what I do. Overall, it’s a great machine!

You can feel comfortable setting the temperature, spin cycle, etc. according to the booklet that comes with it and you have TONS of sensors that determine if anything unusual is being laundered. If so, the units automatically reset to take care of things. Both the washer & dryer open on top. These are manufactured in Sweden. While a little pricey, they last without any service calls for a very long time and are extremely reliable. The dryer filter is super easy to remove and clean, so it’s no trouble to clean after each load.

Horrible, horrible machine. I purchased a washer in 2007. The diverter valve had to be replaced within one year. Next, the pump failed; water leaked everywhere and shorted out the computer. We waited several weeks for replacement part. That pump failed as well. Another new pump was replaced in March 2011, and now the machine is leaking again. The water is coming from the pump. We called F&P customer service, and after discussing our problems with F&P, we were shocked to learn that you cant use bleach in these machines. To me this seems like someone selling a lawn mower that cannot cut grass. I will never buy an F&P product again. Ive read F&Ps responses on this site, and their responses are wholly unsatisfactory. Sure machines will need maintenance and repair, but I think a machine is inherently defective when its cost of repairs exceeds the purchase price within a short period of time.

My husband and I purchased a FisherPaykel washer from Lowes approximately 4 years ago. We had not heard of FisherPaykel and were a little reluctant to purchase one. The salesman was knowledgeable about the product and sold us on the manufacturer. We have been happy with the product until recently. I am still uncertain as to what is wrong with my machine, only knowing that it no longer drains the water. I have contacted FisherPaykel twice - once to see if it is covered by a warranty and second to find a service company. I still have a washer that does not work, and the company they referred will not service the washer unless it was purchased from them. I am very disappointed in this product and the service.

I bought this washer (Fisher & Paykel Washing Machine) as a highly recommended low maintenance machine. At the least, I am dissatisfied; at the most, angry. I am retired and live on a fixed income. I did research myself as to possible causes of the constant drip of 6 inches of hot water into the tub and the low level screeching of the tub as it spins. As for repair, I was only able to find one resource for a possible part that caused the dripping. When I called, I was treated rudely and they refused to help me and stated Id have to pay a large fee just to have it diagnosed. So, I asked what the charge would be if it was found to need a hot water valve leaking and if the screeching was a bad bearing. I was told the bearings never go bad and that I didnt know anything. Then, the woman from the shop hung up! I love being treated badly! Your customer service is nasty and non-existent!

I have owned my Fisher and Paykel Ecosmart Autowasher Model GWL15 since 2010. The first time, we had a problem with the spin cycle was August 2012 (past the 2 year warranty period). I paid $180 to have the pump replaced. The repairman said that this is a frequent problem with this brand of washers. Fast forward to today, April 6, 2014. The washer quit after the wash cycle again. I tried several times to reset it by unplugging it like the owners manual instructed, only to have NO results again. I had to take the clothes out and wring them out by hand. I then had to empty the washer by hand to prepare for the repairman to come AGAIN. I will never buy another Fisher and Paykel product, nor will I recommend Fisher and Paykel to anyone!! I have never had any appliance fail like this one has.

We bought this top load washer after being told it was one of the best and it is literally destroying our clothing. Even brand new clothes after one wash come out with rips, tears, and holes. It is absolutely unacceptable for a washing machine to destroy the clothes it is supposed to be cleaning.

I am a rural American, I have used the Fisher & Paykel washing machine for 4 years and have continually smelled mold and mildew. Today, the washer spilled water all over my laundry room, so I took the entire machine apart. As I suspected, there was mold and slime all over it. Why does water sit on the bottom of this washing machine all the time and what can I do to correct this problem other than go buy a GE?

This is the second FP washer owned but this time, we bought the new high efficiency one! Clothes often come out with black, greasy, soapy streaks on them, sometimes permanent staining. We use the recommended HE detergent and barely reach line 1 on the cap (any more causes loads of foam and machine to complain). Agren Appliances, from whom we bought the machine, sent out a technician to take a look but no remedy found. We have taken the damaged clothing to them and shown them what happens. They kindly gave us some powder detergent but the FP booklet recommends HE liquid detergent only. On calling FP customer service, we were told we were probably using too much detergent. Ha, if we use any less, we wonder whether our clothes will actually be cleaned! So what do we do? This machine is less than 1 year old and its a disaster. There is no support from the store we bought it from (despite having taken out extra service warranty) and FP doesnt want to help either. Surely, a machine cannot be HE if after washing it leaves clothes with dark streaks on them, hence needing a second wash! I dont see the efficiency in that! There seems to be little option other than to take it to the scrap heap and buy a new machine, different brand naturally. Hunk of junk, never to be recommended to anyone.

This is a follow-up to my first post (Fisher & Paykel Ecosmart washer). The firemen were wrong about the motor. I called a local repair person/authorized repair person and they were here today. It was the famous pump that everyone else has been talking about. They said grit gets into the pump and causes the seal to leak, and then water drips onto the pump/electronics and causes it to burn out. There is a fuse that blows in the control board. They replaced the fuse and put another fuse in line with the pump. The repair was quick. I was told the pump would be about $90.00 plus service call. It’s much better than we originally thought. In my opinion, there is a problem with these pumps, though.

I like the fact that my F&P washer has less parts as a whole, save water due to its sensor technology and efficiency. The best part is it rids of water very well at the spin cycle and save me time in drying. However, in eight years of using the washer, I have to replace two water pumps, and two lids, and now the lid is cracked again. The product might have less parts to be broken down, but the broken parts are always the same ones, do not show this is a product of good quality! About $600 of replacement parts and labors in eight years. Washer model: WA37T26G, serial# AEU777574.

I bought what I thought was a new model, an Aqua Smart WL-37, from the Warehouse Discount Center (WDC) on 5-16-11. I also bought an extended four-year warranty. The WL-37 failed less than three months later (8-10-11). It made a loud noise, and it went dead. No power. I called WDC for help, and they gave us a list of contractors. It turned out none of them travel to our town in Fillmore. This is even though when you first call the contractor, they say,” sure we will go to Fillmore”. However, once they try and locate us on a map, they thought it was “Sylmar”, not Fillmore.Anyway, we finally called P&K customer service. They also gave me a list of contractor folks who would go to Fillmore. I guess the good customer service representatives at Fisher and Paykel’s dont have good English skills, as they also gave us a list of contractors who go to Sylmar, not Fillmore. Finally, I got one who actually came to the house after a ten day delay. When the technician came inside, he asked me for the original sales receipt. The folks at Fisher & Paykel had no proof of sale, and because the WL37 is not the current model. I had a broken ankle and could not go upstairs to pull the receipt, even though I showed the technician the four-year extended warranty with a sale date of June, 2011, it was not good enough. So back to finding contractors who would go to Sylmar… err… Fillmore. Finally, I found one. Again, after another week lag they showed up on August 29. By this time, I was smart, and registered my unit on the Fisher & Paykel website, so the unit was verified under warranty. The technician came in and looked at the washer. He said it needed a new power board. He left his card, and said he would order it that day. Another eleven days have gone by, and I have heard nothing. This is despite leaving several messages to the technician and his store. I just finished contacting Fisher & Paykel customer service via its website customer care inquiry. Hopefully, they will contact me soon.

We bought a BRAND NEW FISHER PAYKEL WASHING MACHINE and on the 8th day, which is only the 3rd time we have used it, when it spin, the whole machine was shaking badly. So we called Fisher Paykel Customer Service and advised what happened. We took a video of the machine shaking. They scheduled us for a day for the repairman to check so my husband went off for work just to able to attend to the repairman. And then, he said, it defective and he requested with their Customer Service for it to be replaced...The second BRAND NEW FISHER PAYKEL WASHING MACHINE arrives but when we tried it, it also shakes but not as bad as the first unit. My husband wanted to call Customer Service again. I told him, its not bad as the first unit so maybe its just normal, but the next time we used it, shaking was not good, so we took a video of it again just to show how the machine is again shaking. And not just that, we had these boxes of my boots at the side of the washing machine and its all wet and it just came to our knowledge that the BRAND NEW FISHER PAYKEL WASHING MACHINE has a leak as well... What a quality. ;( So we called Customer Service and requested for another day to have a check on it, that was weekend. We requested if they can schedule us on the coming Monday for I am on leave from work but they said its all fully booked. They scheduled us on Wednesday same week 12-5pm.However, this is the 2nd time of this issue with this BRAND NEW FISHER PAYKEL WASHING MACHINE and its not that easy to ask from work for another half day or leave. So my husband clearly advised with the Customer Service that he will be available by 5pm and they said back theyll see. So on Wednesday, I called Customer Service to confirm that technician will come on 5pm that day. The person I spoke to tells me that the technician will be finished working by 4:30pm in our area so 5pm is not possible. So I told her, is there any other option for we need someone to check the machine for it is not fair that we are paying a lot of money on this defective BRAND NEW FISHER PAYKEL WASHING MACHINE.She throw the question back to me asking me what are other options I can think of. She told me shell ask the technician to call me 1hr before hell come. Just to put in perspective, she is quite nice lady, though. So I told her, I can use my lunch time to drive home just for this to be checked for I cant have another leave for I just had one. So she checked the technician schedule and said that we are scheduled for 12-1pm so it is fine that I can drive back home at lunch time so the technician can come at the scheduled time as what their system is saying. So I was thinking when she says that we are scheduled on 12-1pm, I just need to just go home and wait for the technician on the scheduled time.So I approached my Manager and advised that Ill be leaving but be back by 1sh. So when I arrived home around 12:10pm, I called Customer Service to confirm that technician will be coming as what was scheduled, as what their system is showing. But the lady on the other line says a straight NO, YOU ARE 12-5PM, NOT 12-1PM. Which makes my blood went up to my head. I drive 35-45 minutes to come home and then you will tell me that technician will not see me as what Ive been advised on phone earlier? I was pretty mad, disappointed whatever you call it, that we bought this FISHER PAYKEL WASHING MACHINE. The reason we bought a brand new is not to have a lot of drama, but we had more that we expected... Not really happy with the unit and with the Customer Service. I better refund the money for this unit and buy another Brand. THUMBS DOWN...

Fisher-Paykel WL4227J1 - We purchased this machine, new, on 9/24/14. The machine worked well for 2 weeks & then developed a loud hum in the pump during the drain cycle. Once I was able to get a technician here a week later, it was confirmed that the pump was defective & needed to be replaced under warranty. Now for the part that angers me... The repair shop called back & stated that it would be another week to get the part, as F/P ships from AZ & that it would take 5 business days to arrive... Seriously? So I called F/P direct & was told that it would be 3-5 business days as the part ships from Huntington Beach, CA. Or, I could contact the retailer I purchased the machine from & ask them to exchange it... but that they were under no obligation to do so. Hello... customer service. Fisher & Paykel should be OVERNIGHTING a new pump to my retailer... not the 3-5 business days they stated as it is a brand new machine. My washing machine beeped on Tuesday and I followed the directions in the users manual to try to correct the problem. In the meantime the control panel was burnt out because the drain pump was broken. I called the repairman and he came on the following Tuesday and did not have a drain pump to install because they had just used the last one. I am guessing that there have been a lot of problems with Fisher and Paykel drain pumps. If I would not have tried to correct the problem, I possibly would not have burnt out the control panel. It is costing me $352 to repair the machine. I had ordered a brand new one, the same as what I had and I could have had it delivered on New Years Eve. I slept on it and cancelled the order because I thought I would be saving $300. The repairman said that they have replaced many control panels but Fisher & Paykel have corrected the problem by adding a fuse that will not cause the control panel to burn out. I would have hoped this would have been a product recall and saved a lot of people time and money. I really like my Fisher and Paykel machine but I am disappointed with the product not being recalled if you knew it was faulty. I would hope that I could be reimbursed some of the cost for the repair. The repairman was very knowledgeable and helpful.

The other day, my husband was doing laundry and part-way through the load, the washer started beeping and stopped working. He then called the customer support center and got the name of the Fisher Paykel dealer here in town to see how much it would cost to get it serviced. While he was on the phone with the customer support rep, he was told that based on the lights that were showing up it was an error code 346, but was not told what that meant. This morning we called to see what it would cost to have someone come out just to look at the washer and were told he would cost $75! I think that is a large fee, considering we live in the same town less than a mile away. Today, I was looking online and read that the warranty was usually around 2 years. Im sure our washer wasnt 2 years old, so I called the customer support number myself, after taking down the model number, to find out if the washer was still under warranty. The guy on the phone was not able to tell me if the washer was under warranty or not. He didnt even offer to take down the serial number to see when the washer was made, but told me to call the store we purchased it from to see if they still have a record of when the purchase was made. We purchased this washer from Sears and shortly after we bought it, they stopped selling this brand. What should we do if they do not have a copy of the receipt? I dont even think our bank records go back any further than a year online. I have searched to see if I could find the transaction, but have not been able to. I would hate to buy a new washer after only owning this one for less than 2 years, and really dont want to pay $75 just to have someone look at it and then pay for repairs on top of it.

About 4 years ago, we purchased a Fisher and Paykel Intuitive Eco washer. In the beginning we were very happy with our new product. Just shy of our warranty running out we experienced our first problem. It was pertaining to the pump/drain hose. Now, in the last month we have had to replace the pump and circuit board. It started with the beeps and a fault code. After turning the washer off and back on as instructed by the manual it began working again. A few loads of laundry later and now we smell a hot burning smell then the code alerts and now the washer stops working. We start with replacing the pump. Then the circuit panel goes out. Our repair man says the circuit board went out because of the motor so now they have an inline fuse to prevent this, its an upgrade. Okay, so we replace both parts. Great problem solved. Wrong.

The power of the internet - I would have never guessed that the internet could change the result of a bad experience to a good one, as this was my first experience in writing a complaint online. On July 19, 2012, I wrote a complaint regarding a Fisher & Paykel washing machine I purchased just two years ago and how I had ongoing problems with the machine, starting at about the fifth month. I called the service company twice while under warranty and they were unable to figure out what was wrong with the machine. I have since learned that it was because the company that Sears uses was inexperienced with this product. I also called the Fisher & Paykel main office and unfortunately was turned away as my machine was no longer under warranty. I even tried to explain my experiences and how the service men were unable to repair it. So after two years of frustration with a non-functioning washing machine, we decided to purchase a 30-year old Speed Queen washing machine and take the newer Fisher & Paykel machine to the landfill. Before taking it to the landfill, I wrote my complaint on this website. That was July 19th. On August 3rd, much to my surprise, I received a generic response from Fisher & Paykel asking me to contact their Customer Service Manager. I called the phone number the next day, left a message and the manager called me back. Although she did not personally read my online complaint, she was genuinely concerned that I had a bad experience and wanted to make it right. She offered at their cost to have a local, experienced repair company come to my house to fix the machine. Within 5 minutes, the local repair company called me to set up an appointment. They came out, fixed the machine in 5 minutes with a $15 part. What?! Thats all it took, 5 minutes and a $15 part? How could the other repairmen not get this one right? The total repair, if I had to pay for this service call, would have cost approximately $165. The only reason we didnt take this route to begin with is because we already tried two repairmen and two years of frustration. So, we gave up and were cutting our losses. But now, I have a washing machine that is working flawlessly. Its amazing! Although I didnt get the service I expected from the company in the beginning, it goes to show that a bad experience could change into a good one when someone with authority wants to make it right. Thank you, Fisher & Paykel for coming through on this one. I hope to have this machine for many years to come.

Every white towel we washed, including high quality ones purchased this year, has developed holes. To be sure that we weren’t adding too much bleach, we have only filled the bleach dispenser half full and diluted it with water to the fill mark. We are about to throw this washer out and get a different one. Another thing we don’t like is that you can’t fill the tub with enough water to just soak things.

Eco-Smart Washer WA37T26GW2 - I purchased this machine at Lowes for my new home because the salesman raved about Fisher Paykel quality which was my first mistake. I was smart enough to take out the extended warranty from Lowes. After just one year single guy doing ONE LOAD per week. The balance sensor and electronics panel had to be replaced - three service calls, because they received the wrong parts calls and a month later it was fixed. After two weeks same problem and three weeks. Finally problem was resolved and because of the warranty no cost to me. OK fine inconvenience but no biggie. Two years after this issues with the motor or something all in all cost me $350 TO FIX. I WAS PISSED. Now after 5 years of crappy reliability it again seems to have the original issue.. NO friggin way am I fixing this poorly designed and manufactured washer again. Time for a cheapo depo Chinese washer that will no doubt out last this $750 (original cost) POS! over $1000 lesson learned. Stay away from Fisher Paykel appliances.

Intuitive Eco washing machine. We have endured and continue to experience water on the floor despite two repair sessions by so-called certified and recommended companies. Now we have a Code 52; Repairmen plural cannot diagnose where leak is coming from. Repair service is slow in San Antonio and very poor at best. We bought an FP washer in 20008 which cost over $1,000. This is the first time I have read all the complaints and I can say amen to all of them. I have airplane noise, dirt on my sheets that will not come out, my clothes get caught in the crack around the bottom and pulls threads on clothes. The repairmen do not like them either. Just as soon as I can afford another washer, we will be getting rid of this piece of junk. I wish I had my 45-year-old Maytag back.

My four year old washing machine just died in the middle of a wash cycle. There was no indication on the digital display. I validated power to the unit then called customer service and asked for help but got nowhere. Basically, the control unit is divided into two component parts: display and motor control. Power goes to motor control, which controls the display. I located the specs sheet and tried to get out error codes, but no luck (now that’s a design flaw. How can the display board tell you it has a problem when it could be the problem?). So, it’s either the display ($160) or the motor control ($140). Both are easy units to replace. So I asked whether I could buy both units and return the one I dont use. Their answer was no. So what are my options? Have a repair guy come in at $100 who will then do what I can do for another $50 and then charge me for a marked-up part because hell tell me that’s their handling fee. End of the story is I have to make a decision to replace a 4-year-old product for another machine which would cost me about $550. The real kicker is I bought this machine and it replaced a 15-year-old machine that worked.Another thing, although the customer service had plenty of “Im sorry” they, like the repair shops who are dancing all the way to the back, are absolutely useless. My recommendation is do not buy from Fisher & Paykel, located in New Zealand. Buy from a local US company. At least you have the option of protesting outside their office.

Should have come to this site before purchasing. Our first Smart Touch Dryer stopped heating within two months of purchase. The heat switch had failed and then burnt out!!! Didnt hear from the tech after he left so two weeks called as wondered what was happening. Told it would be up to six weeks before the part was manufactured overseas and shipped to Auckland, NZ. This is a New Zealand owned company but we no longer stock the parts!!! F & P rep could not explain why I hadnt heard from them or the tech until I called them. Man of the house insisted on a new machine. Second brand new machine has stopped heating after six weeks. Four towels in a new large 6kg machine resulted in no heat again and we are now waiting again for a tech to come. Have asked for a loan machine but told that F & P dont do this. Poor rep started to tell me that if they did, they would never have enough to go around but she quickly stopped as she realized what she was saying. Samsung do a loan machine with all of their repairs. Have asked the tech to bring the heat switch with him this time and a spare so that we can fix it ourselves when it goes again lol. First ever Fisher & Paykel appliance and will be the last. Pricing a Samsung today. FYI - Support Centre response is faster from F & P via Twitter as they would prefer no negative feedback on their site. Phone support was abysmal. Have had a Samsung washing machine for two years and never a problem. Samsung also have a two year warranty instead of F & Ps 12 months. Lesson learned in our household.

I bought my Fisher Paykel machine in 1999 (14 years). I never heard of it before but I did my research and then I went out to look at one. I have never been as pleased with any appliance I have ever purchased as I am with my washing machine. I bought it after my heavy duty Whirlpool motor burned out after 4 years. It has everything I could ask for in a washing machine. The wool cycle is great for todays new wools. I have never had it repaired for any reason. When it got out of balance the first time, I used the service summary and put it back in balance myself and have been fixing it myself ever since. Its easy to do and a lot less costly than calling up a repairman. It works! Thank you, Fisher Paykel. My machine is still running great!

EcoSmart Washer - I bought this machine from Lowes about 6 years ago and have loved it! No problems, cleans well, etc., until now. I called the customer service number because the machine would not power on. I was told to call one of the 2 approved service companies in Kansas City. Neither one was rated well for their service! Lots of complaints. They would not return my calls. It took almost 2 weeks to get an appointment and the tech was late, rude, etc. Refused him access and called a different company with same day service. Its now 2 weeks after that (4 total, going to the laundromat!). The current company cant seem to order the correct part, are late or no shows for appointments and cant seem to give me a dollar or time estimate for service. I could not be more frustrated. I really liked my machine, but am going to replace it. Service is a nightmare...

I want to start by saying we are very happy (so far) with the GWL11 Washer.
I want to start by saying we are very happy (so far) with the GWL11 Washer. It is 6 years old and 1 year out of extended warranty. I called the local factorys recommended shop on Thursday and Baker Appliance came out the next Monday. He ordered the part for regular delivery. A different repairman returned on Monday, a week later, to replace the electronic control unit. They discovered the wrong part was sent. He said the box had the correct part number on it but the part inside was incorrect. Does this happen a lot?My issue is, he told my wife they would ship the correct part the next day. I called them Tuesday to ask about the part delivery. The girl said she would check and call me back but never did. I left a message on Tuesday night and she called me back Wednesday morning and said she didnt have it yet. I called again and explained what the repairman had said. She asked someone in her office about it. She said they werent told and it would be another $50 for next day shipping. I then gave up.Wouldnt Fisher & Paykel absorb the additional cost if they shipped the wrong part? I spent more than $50 at the laundromat over the last 2 weeks. We have 5 people in our home.

We purchased a Fisher Paykel GWL11 washing machine about 8 years ago. For the first few years the machine performed well but on the very day the warranty was up the Motor Control board went bad. Fisher Paykel paid for another board but we were out $250 for the service call. The next thing that happened was this year. The machine would not function in several wash modes and would only spin at slow or medium speeds. Last week, the washer refused to spin at all. I bought another board (not cheap!) and then discovered that the old board may have gone bad because of a design flaw. The board is not protected from short circuit with the pump motor and the pump motor has a tendency to leak after a while. This causes a short that blows out the board. The factory does or did not acknowledge the problem. So, I then purchased a replacement pump (also not cheap!) that came with an inline fuse to prevent this from happening again. I put everything back together and all kinds of new problems. The GWL11 was an expensive machine at the time we purchased it and all we have done is put more money into it. Despite the new control board & pump, the machine will overfill unless you stop it manually, the lid lock cycles back and forth and then beeps preventing the machine from going into any spin cycle. At this point, I have had it with this machine! I will never buy another Fisher Paykel product and I will discourage everyone I know from buying their products. My last washing machine, a Sears Kenmore lasted me 17 years and it STILL WORKED! I only sold it to upgrade to the Fisher Paykel. Im going to take it out to the farm and use it for target practice. At least I will get SOME satisfaction from this lousy machine!

After 3 years, the pump broke because a coin had been left in a pocket and got into the pump. We have been waiting for more than three weeks for the part, and the store said the labor cost to install the new one will be high. Ive had Fisher & Paykel AquaSmart Washing Machine Model Number WL26CW1
Ive had Fisher & Paykel AquaSmart Washing Machine Model Number WL26CW1 for approximately 7 years now and there has been big trouble. After the 2 year warranty expired it started to have problems. I contacted F&P and a repairman came out within a couple days. He determined that the washer needed a new circuit board (brain) which he would have to order. It took about 6 weeks to get the new brain and have it installed at a cost of almost $250 US.One and a half years after the new brain was installed the machine developed a new problem with the LCD display which is located on the circuit board (brain). Sometimes the LCD display cannot be viewed, nothing shows up in the window. Other times it works fine or it will show the wash selections in a faint image to which I can make a selection. The times that the wash selections are not visible I just count off the selections until I reach the one that I want (yes, Ive memorized them) and the washer will engage and work. However, at the end of any wash cycle instead of stopping the selected wash cycle starts all over and will continue to run over and over and over until I intervene and turn the machine off. Ive been doing this now for almost 4 years. I refuse to pay another $250 US plus to buy another new brain (circuit board) and dont want to buy a new washing machine until this F&P money drain totally craps out.

I purchased a new F&P washer to replace the old one that I have. After delivery and hook up, I found that once you put the clothes into the machine and started the washer, the lid locked until the end of the cycle. I am not able to open the lid without turning off the wash cycle. In the old machine, the lid locked when the spin cycle was on. Now, I am unable to see what the washer is doing or how much it is filling. I called the customer care department to find out what could be done to override this feature during the fill and rinse cycle and an answer from a supervisor, named Bernice, is that I should wash by hand if I am so concerned about how my clothes are being washed. In the past, I have found this company to be difficult when trying to purchase parts; but this goes way beyond attitude. If you want control over your wash do not buy a F&P washer. Once you start the machine, its out of your hands. This is not a consumer friendly machine

So then I went and researched a little about Fisher Paykel and it sounded interesting. We checked it out and we liked it. It seemed like the mechanism was simple so it got fewer things to break on it. And we liked that it was a high efficiency top load so we purchased it. Its a fine washer. The last ones I had were the Whirlpool front loaders. I didn’t like them. I’ll never buy a front loader again. We bought from a little appliance store here in Benton. At first, we bought a Speed Queen and it pumped up the water so fast that my pipes wouldn’t take it and it flooded my laundry room every time I would wash. So I called them back and they said they had one that the pump didn’t pump that hard. And we went and traded. They were brand new. I had it about four days and got these which I love. They work great! The experience with Fisher & Paykel went real well. I love it and have already recommended it. My daughter wants one. She likes the fact that the tub is all sealed up in there. Her husband is in construction and he forgets to get nails and things out of his pockets and it just messes all up down underneath hers. But this one is all sealed so nothing can get down underneath there.

This is a follow-up to the review I wrote on 6-15-13. I sent F&P (Lisette **) an email early, early Saturday morning, like 4:00 a.m. her time. I received an out-of-office reply that she would be out of the office for a couple of more days, so I wasnt hopeful that I would hear back soon. BUT GUESS WHAT? She emailed me back at 5:30 a.m. her time - just 90 minutes later - letting me know that she has asked someone to call me and get things going, and that it would be covered under warranty. One hour later someone from F&Ps NEW ZEALAND office called and got things set up for us! And it is now Monday morning and the service guy is here fixing the washer. So that is indeed terrific service again from F&P that we have received on a machine that has had several service calls. It is outside of the warranty period, but I am glad that they are standing by their product since there were obviously some design problems with the F&P washers that Lowes pushed in 2008 and 2009. The Ecosmart FP Washer was recommended by a designer friend of mine who loved these washers and said she had recommended this to several of her clients. It had a belt driven motor, was low maintenance and easy to repair. So I bought mine in 10/2009. It has worked great for 3 years and btw just last week, I recommended it to a friend because I loved it so much! Anyway, a few days ago I noticed a leak had developed so I had the repairman come out. He said it needed a new part called an Electronic Pump Assembly or a Kit Repair and Fuse at the price of $343.45 with labor at $220 and tax at $29.96 totaling $592.41 (oh, and service fee of $49.95 just to tell me this). What?! I said, That is almost the price of a new washer? He said, Yes, I see this pump go out a lot on these washers but the new part has been improved and should last about 10 years. But darn it, I shouldnt have to pay the cost of a new machine just to get that defective part replaced. I am so disappointed and frustrated because I actually like this unit. Im not sure if I want to risk purchasing another FP Washer (what if it still has that defective part?). It only lasted 3 years!

Ive owned front-load machines for the past 5 years. Had a good experience with them as well. I just moved into top-load HE laundry and went F&P. After comparing the two styles I would recommend the F&P top-loaders. Being able to control your water levels is such an advantage to laundry. Heavily soiled stains are removed more significant with extra water. Having a thorough rinse improved my whites and stained outdoor clothing. The gentleness of F&P laundry is at peak level. My delicate clothing is avoiding vigorous wear and tear, even though front-load offers a delicate cycle. The controlled spin out speed is phenomenal. Clothes are noticeably softer and brighter. F&P laundry is amazing and I would recommend to any consumer.

We have experienced unacceptable service delays in getting a repair to our 2.5 year old F&P Washer (Ecosmart). It seemed to work well and does a good job drying out the clothes. We have a Sears maintenance/extended warranty so we had preventive maintenance performed less about 8 or 10 months ago. In mid-November 2011, the washer made an odd noise and refused to spin. We called for service and could only get an appointment for three weeks later (12/6/2011). It was a great inconvenience, especially over the Thanksgiving holiday with family coming to our house. My wife was not happy and had to go to the Laundromat several times. At the 12/6 service appointment, the technician said that it needed two parts (including a circuit board). But he had to order them and they would not arrive for a week. So, the follow-up appointment was set for 12/15/11. My wife was extremely disappointed and expected the washer to be fixed on the 15th. At the appointment on the15th, the technician installed the parts, turned it on, and the circuit board burned out. Now my wife is absolutely livid as it will be another week or more before the circuit board and a new drain pump arrives. She is convinced that repair will fail as well as the tech does not seem to know what he is doing. She demanded that Sears provide her with a rental machine (they will reimburse, but we have to pay up front). She has also announced that she wants a new washing machine when this one breaks again and it wont be an F&P.

Eco smart washer - Well I bought this in 2011 in Lakeport at the Sears. I noticed right away that my whites werent getting white, even though I use Clorox. The next thing was having to constantly re-balance the clothes. Also, my clothes constantly get wound around the thing in the middle. The paddles should have gone all the way to the bottom of the tub. Instead theres like 4 below where clothes can get stuck. Then I did a test with the hot water. I pressed wash in hot water and when it was half-full, I opened the machine and it was cold. Well I tried turning off the cold valve and then I tried using the cold button seeing if they were switched. Then I had a problem where it wouldnt drain. Well it drains now. Clothes still get stuck, get stretched and sometimes ripped, and then come to find out that the hot button doesnt mean wash with hot. It means fill to 2 with hot and then continue filling with cold. The repairman for Sears phoned Paykel and that is what the tech told him is normal for washing in hot.I am steaming mad. Who wants to join a class action lawsuit with me? I am that angry.

They looked nice in the picture. When I saw them for the 1st time, the construction looked cheap but I thought, well, Ill see how they perform and not judge a book by its cover, so to speak. Anyways, I have had them for just about a year now and cannot wait to get something new. The washer always stops working and wont spin out. So I have to wring out the clothes. The washer doesnt wash them very well. I can still smell odors after my clothes have been washed and dried. I dont know why, but all of our clothes are getting these small holes all over them. The lip on the washer locks so you can start it after you put detergent in. I can go on and on. Save yourself the trouble and buy a Maytag or Whirlpool, anything but this. Its cheap and the makers should be ashamed. But I dont think they will be around long. You market garbage and you’re soon to be out of business. Hope someone actually reads this before they buy one. FISHER PAYKEL washer started to malfunction in the same fashion described by hundreds of people on this site and others like it. Long story short most recent service call tech concluded that several parts were required to repair washer. With the $100 service calls factored in the repair cost exceeds the $1000 cost of the unit.

I bought a Fisher and Paykel Eco-Smart wash machine May 2007. I paid $744.35 for the washer and I also bought an extended warranty. However, over the years I lost my receipt and of course no one could find where I paid for the extended warranty. I began having problems with the washer within a year. First several times, no problem. However the sixth year, this year in March, I was told that my washer was no longer under warranty and there was no extended contract on file. The reason I bought the extended contract was because the washer was already covered for 5 years and 2 extra years was very appealing given my previous experience with wash machines.I have been a home owner for 30 years and that was my 3rd wash machine. I have never paid that much money for a wash machine and had I known it was no better than any of the other (used) included, I would not have invested so much. I will never buy another Fisher and Paykel and never another major appliance from Lowes.
