We decided to purchase a matching washer and dryer about a month ago. Our previous P&K washer lasted for 15 years! Unfortunately after less than 1 month of operation our dryer quit and we called the repairman and he indicated it needed an update mod done on it. It was showing a 151 fault. We waited about 1.5 weeks for the part to arrive and now today he says that it is the motor and dont know how long it will take to get the part. Plus he indicated that the P&K dryers are on backorder! What has happened to the P&K products which I used to know and love??

We bought a new Fisher & Paykel washer and dryer at least five years ago. When we went and looked to buy a new washer and dryer, they had a F&P set sitting there. They were quite a bit more expensive than a lot of the other ones there at the time. I looked at them, read a little bit about them and liked what I read about them and they did seem to do as well as they said. The clothes would come out of the washing machine with a lot less water still in them than I was used to from other washing machines and it would really spin the water out well which meant less drying time. You can set it on automatic and it would decide how much water it needed. Were still using the washing machine, and it still does an excellent job. The only problem weve had with it is I have had to replace the agitator two times because the clothes would get caught under the agitator blade. And if the kids were getting the clothes out and not paying attention they would break the agitator blade. Also the dryer some time ago started to have a loud squeaking noise, and I looked up what it was. There were some parts I could have purchased for less than $200 and it didnt sound like that hard of a fix but we decided to go ahead and buy a new Fisher & Paykel dryer. We bought a new one within the last few months. Overall, Ive enjoyed using them.

My Fisher & Paykel GWL11 Washer quit working a week ago. The repairman has been here twice, once to diagnose and then again to install valve and pump. The washer still does not work; the spin cycle will not work. He will come out here again to see if the problem is with the board. Based on what I am reading in this forum, perhaps I should cut my losses and go buy a new washer. I wish I had my old dependable Maytag. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to buy another washer.

I was told in the store that the Fisher & Paykel refrigerator was a very quiet model, but its not. Its noisy and I did have to call them because since I got it, I cant sleep at night. Its cycling continually and extremely loud, like a jet taking off. The technician came out and said that I didnt have much in my freezer and suggested putting in jugs of water. But since then, I do have a roommate who uses the freezer and its a bit quieter, but not as quiet as I thought it would be. I had been concerned that my old ref was not energy efficient and thats why I got rid of it and got this one and it seems to be functioning okay, but I dont know how much energy its saving me. I am disappointed with the noise and I check back at the store and they said well, the new appliances do cycle on and are sensitive to drops in temperature. So it could be I didnt get complete information and didnt research this completely as I needed to. Im happy that its got a modern design and I like the size. If it were a bit quieter, I would be happier.

The fridge (no ice or water) has been fine, in fact we bought another Fisher Paykel. But we bought the second one with a side handle. The handle on our first fridge kept breaking off. The technician said the magnets were too strong. You may want to check the pressure it takes to open the door because you can take out some magnets. It costs about $150-$170 Cdn to replace (parts and labour past warranty period). Here are the two old handles of our old fridge which is now in the basement. We are on our third handle and I open it by pulling on the top of the door.

We purchased a Fisher Paykel dishwasher and it has broken. It is still under warranty. We have now had 3 calls from the service people. Our part has been in for over a week now and they tell me they cannot schedule the time I need. Every time they call, they cannot give me even a morning or afternoon, just a date. Then they will call one day ahead of time to schedule the service. I have a busy medical practice and have given them actually 2-hour time frames on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and have actually told them 3 times now I am available all day on Wednesdays and that does not work for them. So each time they tell me they have to talk with the service manager again. The dishwasher has now been broken almost two months. I have given times each day and that is not good enough for them. I will never buy a Fisher Paykel again and I plan on telling each and every patient in my practice about this situation. This is not even worth rating; if it were, I would give it a zero. I cannot believe that 3 times I have been called and still am not able to schedule service. Unbelievable. Again, I am not able to cancel patients appointments on the spur of the moment.” Do you people realize how many patients that would be inconvenienced? This is not about me--this is about others! Something someone knows nothing about. I would never stay in business if I ran a business like this with a product like this.

I bought a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher and refrigerator quite some time ago. After 3 or 4 years, the dishwasher was deemed beyond repair so we had to buy a new one. The loading on the new dishwasher is worse than the previous one and neither one of them were very good. We have a very narrow kitchen and the fact that these are drawers rather than the drop down door is very helpful and thats why we tolerate the other shortcomings or things that have changed. The machine is so complicated that it doesnt run well and it cant be fixed when it breaks.

We went to an appliance store down in Houston and we had tested several washers. Fisher Paykel is what we first bought. We found out the ease of the repair and the warranty so we bought a washer. And then my dishwasher went out and I needed a new one so we went to the same place. Since we had such good luck with the washing machine, we went with the dishwasher also. I love the new models - love the efficiency. I love that they dont use a whole lot of water or energy and the results of the clean are as good, if not better, than a model that uses all the water and all the electricity. It doesnt cost me a million dollar to have them repaired. My experience has been fantastic. Ive had one problem with my washing machine and it was very easy to take a part and we found a YouTube video and took it apart and replaced the part ourselves. So instead of having someone come out and we have to pay them $120 just to look at it, for $60 for the part and everything, it was done and over within 15 minutes.

Took months to get appliances and now it is taking months to fix my 5 year old dishwasher. Paid over $2200. A dishwasher this expensive should last longer than 5 years when it is kept well by owners. Both drawers dont work even though only one is broken. Their suggested repair guy said that the circuit boards used to be separate now there is one for both machines, so if one goes, they both go. Neither he nor I were impressed. After 2 months of waiting for part I called to complain and after an hour on hold was put through to customer service, who were supposed to call me back. I did receive a call that day, but could not hear person, I told them and asked them to call back. You guessed it! Have not heard back from this crappy company. Love, love, love my dishwasher drawers, even though it doesnt clean well consistently. Just nice having two dishwashers. If I could find another company that makes them I would switch. This is not a good company. Plus, my oven is so small, my pizza pan would not fit in this oven and the fridge dints terribly. Do not buy this brand. Go with KitchenAid. Maytag dishwashers suck too. My nice, working KitchenAid dishwasher is sitting in basement. But its white, so doesnt match. But I never had a problem with my KitchenAid fridge or dishwasher. Kenmore oven died, thats why I replaced everything. Wrong choice...

DEC27C and wL26CW1 - I have had a couple of problems with my units. However, two occasions they were covered by warranty (the washer). I just had a problem with my dryer. The bearing on the right side of the drum went bad. I called F&P and talked to the very nice rep who took my order for a new bearing assembly and sent it out to me UPS ground. The rep was kind enough to tell me that if I were handy, yes I could fix it myself and she was right. After the part arrived, it took about 15 to 20 minutes to repair. Wee, the dryer is back in service. My problem is the $250.00 of ruined clothing and the price of the part and shipping. I did contact a F&P authorized repair service, but the service is not what I would call great. When I called the tech and told him I thought it was the belt, he said It is not the belt; it is the bearing. You do what you know how to do and I will fix the dryers. That was a little insulting to say the least. He then told me the squeaking would not harm anything and I could continue to use the dryer, but it may spit out grease (hence the damaged clothes). Well, my wife used the dryer and ran a load of dressy whites and they came out with little spots all over them. So F&Ps authorized repair person gave me bad information. Live and learn. But as a whole, F&P on my dealings with them have been good. It is a shame that the face of F&P is who is giving them a bad name - the repair techs and their offices.

Fisher Paykel Intuitive Dryer - We purchased a new Fisher Paykel washer and dryer three years ago which was installed in our new home on an interior wall with a straight shot through the roof exhaust pipe. After only four months of using the new dryer, the exhaust pipe became stopped-up with a considerable amount of lint. The exhaust cap on the roof had to be removed to allow access for removal of the lint from the exhaust pipe. This process had to be repeated about every 4 to 5 months since. Since the dryer lint basket very seldom collected lint and had to be emptied, four weeks ago we had the service technician out who determined the lint screen had been torn in numerous areas. Since the lint screen is within an enclosed area, he advised there must be some defect in the dryer lint basket which was cutting the screen. Over a period of time if left unchecked, this could have become a fire hazard. Is there something that can be done to prevent this from happening again? If so, please advise.

We have the two drawer dishwasher, which we love. BUT, the machine stinks! A lot! After running the machine, there is always water left in the bottom of the machine. This is usually in the top drawer only, and it reeks. Weve cleaned the machine, had the repairman out, rinsed the food off the dishes so theres nothing lying around to go bad, but it still smells. Its like stagnant marsh water. Does any one else have this problem?

I bought my Fisher-Paykel dishwasher in 1/09. It worked fine for a few months, but started beeping and would stop running. I contacted Fisher-Paykel and they recommended I use the dishwasher cleaner, which I did. It ran fine for a while but again started beeping. This time I contacted Jeffers-McGill in Columbia, where I bought the dishwasher. They were very unconcerned and gave me the name of a repair company. I have had 2 technicians come, neither seemed to know how to fix it, and after paying $132, I still dont have a dishwasher that is running correctly. One of the technicians indicated it had been installed wrong. I have now spent over $200 for a $1,000 machine, and still dont have a dishwasher I can depend on. In fact, the 1st dishwasher I bought from Jeffers-McGill started giving me problems after only 2 years, at which time I bought the Fisher-Paykel. I will never buy another appliance from Jeffers-McGill, nor will my family, former good customers of theirs. What do I do now? I am very upset about spending so much money on an elite appliance that is not living up to its reputation.

On August 10, 2012, I posted a review about my dissatisfaction with my dryer. At the time, I was awaiting my fifth service call to have the bearings replaced. By the way, my dryer is 5 1/2 years old. To give Fisher Paykel their due, the company agreed to pay more than half the cost of the repair since I had already spent over $200.00 on prior service calls and repairs. After waiting for the parts to arrive and arranging a time for the technician to return to do the work, my dryer was finally fixed last week. This past Sunday, I decided to do a few loads of laundry and lo and behold, my washer broke (also 5 1/2 years old). Its no fun trying to wring out sopping wet clothes and then finding a place to hang them. The technician left a few hours ago and my washer needs a new pump. I wonder how much thats going to cost. I spent too much money on poor quality products. Perhaps its time to go back to the old-fashioned scrub board and clothesline. When I spoke with Fisher and Paykels customer service representative about my dryer, she was very nice and sympathetic. But being told that bearings wear out like they do in a car was not a good analogy. My dryer certainly does not take the stress and use like my car does. If I had the energy, I would call the company again to verbally air my dissatisfaction with my washer, but another analogy like that would probably send me over the edge and the automated responses to the reviews are inane. Why doesnt the company contact me? They have my contact information. Fisher and Paykel strikes again!

I was excited to buy Fisher & Paykel machines. The washer is on its third lid as the plastic continues to crack. On the dryer I have replaced the plastic knob and the inside of the dryer is all cracked and peeling. I have had my water checked but these are the only appliances with a problem. Quality of plastic parts below zero. My Miele dishwasher is fine. I called F & P and the customer service rep suggested that I use harsh detergents, but I just use All detergent. No help. I will never buy another F & P product and I tell anyone who will listen of my bad experience.

The Fisher Paykel dual drawer dishwasher is an excellent new example of high quality and performance in a kitchen dish washing appliance. The dual drawer is engineered wonderfully to provide multiple ways to perform, and perform it does! The two drawers provide flexibility beyond a normal/standard design. The loading capabilities are different yet provided with a lot of forethought given to providing space. It utilizes much more of the actual inside space of the two drawer/washers. Once you understand the loading capabilities of the provided inside racks and adjustment capabilities, the loading capabilities are creative and useful. Three simple buttons on the outside of each drawer provide easy execution of functions. The dual washers are extremely easy to start, stop or pause at any time, using the three simple buttons. The system has various wash cycles and times all easily accessed and executed by another single button conveniently located inside either drawers top edge. A small LED lit screen on each drawer face provides a moving icon that lets the user know have knowledge of what stage of a cycle the wash drawer is executing. The LED also shows the cycle time duration working backwards from a start time to the finish of the cycle. The Fisher Paykel system is very quiet working washer. Yes, you can hear some functions executing some times during the cycle, but it is very quiet overall. Most importantly, the Fisher Paykel Dual Washing system cleans and shines dishes, glassware and utensils with precision to a sparkling bright clean. This is especially true if the user does not allow large amounts of food to enter the system. Pre-rinsing is any dishwashers best friend! Use this kitchen appliance/tool correctly, and you will have a great dish washing experience with this product. By far, the Fisher Paykel Dual Dish Washing system is the highest quality, best working, and easy to use dish washing appliance I have ever had in any of my kitchens. I highly recommend the Fisher Paykel Dual Drawer Dish Washing Appliance/System for any kitchen.

I bought what I thought was a new model, an Aqua Smart WL-37, from the Warehouse Discount Center (WDC) on 5-16-11. I also bought an extended four-year warranty. The WL-37 failed less than three months later (8-10-11). It made a loud noise, and it went dead. No power. I called WDC for help, and they gave us a list of contractors. It turned out none of them travel to our town in Fillmore. This is even though when you first call the contractor, they say,” sure we will go to Fillmore”. However, once they try and locate us on a map, they thought it was “Sylmar”, not Fillmore.Anyway, we finally called P&K customer service. They also gave me a list of contractor folks who would go to Fillmore. I guess the good customer service representatives at Fisher and Paykel’s dont have good English skills, as they also gave us a list of contractors who go to Sylmar, not Fillmore. Finally, I got one who actually came to the house after a ten day delay. When the technician came inside, he asked me for the original sales receipt. The folks at Fisher & Paykel had no proof of sale, and because the WL37 is not the current model. I had a broken ankle and could not go upstairs to pull the receipt, even though I showed the technician the four-year extended warranty with a sale date of June, 2011, it was not good enough. So back to finding contractors who would go to Sylmar… err… Fillmore. Finally, I found one. Again, after another week lag they showed up on August 29. By this time, I was smart, and registered my unit on the Fisher & Paykel website, so the unit was verified under warranty. The technician came in and looked at the washer. He said it needed a new power board. He left his card, and said he would order it that day. Another eleven days have gone by, and I have heard nothing. This is despite leaving several messages to the technician and his store. I just finished contacting Fisher & Paykel customer service via its website customer care inquiry. Hopefully, they will contact me soon.

Just bought a new Fisher refrigerator 6 months ago. I looked for a review in Consumer Reports but didnt find one. Let me save you the time: Noisy piece of crap that has equal service backing. Let me describe the 24 hour noise combination: constant gurgling, constant whirring, constant groaning, constant grinding. Refrigerator shuts off 10 minutes in 24 hours while set on the warmest setting. Customer service? The positive side - they answer the phone. The negative - you will never get anything resolved. Call backs are nonexistent. DO NOT ACCEPT it when they say they will call back, they will not. This holds true with regional service reps. I could go on for pages of my nightmare but I have already wasted hours upon hours pursuing a fix with no results. This piece of crap is going to the curb, sick of it and cant take the noise any longer. Im done.

Weve had our washer and dryer for 4 1/2 years and had to call the repairman twice. I have to constantly reset our overheat button at least 1-2 times every week! This is unacceptable. Its loud and does a horrible job collecting lint. I have to vacuum it out weekly as it doesnt really collect like it should. In April we purchased a $2000 Fisher Paykel fridge with water and ice maker. We quickly realized the door did not close properly and was misaligned as the water/ice maker worked roughly one week on one week off. We called our dealer and they sent out a service representative who told us the water/ice maker could be replaced but he didnt know how to fix the misalignment of the door. He said he would get back to me. By late July nothing had happened and he basically washed his hands of it telling me the Fisher Paykel regional manager had ordered parts and would get back to us. By late September the parts had still not arrived so we started contacting Fisher Paykel America for help. They kept referring everything back to the regional manager who, for some reason, refused to contact us with updates. We were still waiting for a fix when they told us in October that the fridge misalignment could not be fixed. We asked for another fridge and was told that they didnt make this model any more and the closest model that would fit in our space was $500 more and was 0.5 cu. feet smaller. I asked that they replace our fridge with this one at no extra cost and they refused only offering an in-store credit for the original amount. Sorry I expect more for all the grief and inconvenience they have cased us.

Bought a Fisher and Paykel dish drawer less than two years ago. Around the beginning of March there was an error code warning on the machine and it was leaking water onto my hardwood floors. I contacted Fisher and Paykel and was told to work with the one service repair company in Austin Texas. They finally came out on March 9th to look at my machine. The technician told me the symptoms of my machine did not make sense but if he swapped out a few parts it would probably resolve the issue. Finally two weeks later I was told the parts were indefinitely on backorder. At this point I called Fisher and Paykel directly. I was given the royal run around. I contacted the company 12 times over the course of 6 days. Each time I was assured that someone would call me back in the next hour or so. Never got that call. When I called back in to follow up on the issue, I was told a different story and that it was out of the representatives hands or that they were a New Zealand company and the person in charge was gone for the day. I was told the companies issue was due to the long shoremans strike and my part would likely arrive in late April. I stressed that the technician was not totally sure the parts would fix my machine, so I was supposed to wait six weeks for parts which may not even get my machine working again.

We purchased a Fisher Paykel washer and dryer from a local Lowes just about 3 years ago. When the new appliances were delivered, within the first week the dryer had to be replaced because the frame was bent out of shape and was not repairable. Our dryer stopped drying clothes in the last couple of months. We called the repairman who came and diagnosed the situation as the board had gone out and would need to be replaced as well as the reset switch. He told us our laundry room was a bit too small and that had caused the dryer to overheat. So why hadnt it done this in the last 3 years? The repair bill was over 300.00 dollars and the repairman suggested that we might need to leave the front cover off the dryer so it wouldnt overheat. He replaced the cover.Within the first month after the repair, it did it again so we took off the front cover and hit the reset switch and it worked again. The dryer blew the circuit breaker 2 weeks ago. 4 days ago, the dryer overheated and smelled hot throughout our upstairs. We unplugged the dryer and let it cool down. We have put well over $1000 in this dryer and it is not good. We will not purchase another Fisher Paykel appliance again and would not recommend this company to anyone.

I have just bought a Fisher and Paykel fridge (E373L WW). I chose this brand only because nobody else makes a fridge of this size without a freezer. Well, nobody whose products are imported into New Zealand, anyway. I dont need a freezer. I lost confidence in Fisher Paykel many years ago. It is so hard to believe this company was once so highly revered by every New Zealand housewife. They made washing machines and fridges that never break down; well, not until well into old age. I still have in use a chest freezer made by them in the 1970s. They must have made enough profit in those days making products that lasted. Why cant they still do so? My fridge is only 6 weeks old and appears to be working fine. The two stars is not for the fridge but the company.

[COMPLAINT] POOR SERVICE! I had a scheduled repair / service on my washing machine today. The service was supposed to occur between 7 am and 12 pm. At 12:45 pm I rang customer service. They advised that there were many people off sick and the technician was running late. (My reply is why didnt someone ring me to let me know they would be late?) He would be at my house in 30 to 60 minutes. At 3:45 I rang to speak to someone to find out what was going on. I spoke to Daniel who then advised that the technician had tried contacting me but couldnt reach us. He double checked my details and everything they had was correct. He advised they could come back tomorrow as the technician went home. I advised I couldnt wait any more than what I had done today. I asked to speak to a supervisor, her name was Tanya. Tanya then said the same. I said this wasnt good enough that I had taken this much time off and she agreed. She asked what I wanted and I suggested Fisher and Paykel should pay for the repairs. She said they couldnt do this, but that something should be done. I asked what and she said she couldnt make that decision now and she would be back on Thursday to let me know. Fisher and Paykel you need to seriously pick up your customer service game. This is not appropriate.

The washer works fine but when it breaks down, the company does not provide skilled, prompt, reliable repairs. I have not had a working machine for four months, despite five visits by three different repairmen, four different diagnoses, and four different pieces being replaced! I cant even count the number of phone calls Ive had to make to schedule the repairs. Im sick of F&Ps lame excuses, unbelievably bad parts supply chain and lousy repairmen. The company simply cannot support its products. Do not buy!

We have experienced unacceptable service delays in getting a repair to our 2.5 year old F&P Washer (Ecosmart). It seemed to work well and does a good job drying out the clothes. We have a Sears maintenance/extended warranty so we had preventive maintenance performed less about 8 or 10 months ago. In mid-November 2011, the washer made an odd noise and refused to spin. We called for service and could only get an appointment for three weeks later (12/6/2011). It was a great inconvenience, especially over the Thanksgiving holiday with family coming to our house. My wife was not happy and had to go to the Laundromat several times. At the 12/6 service appointment, the technician said that it needed two parts (including a circuit board). But he had to order them and they would not arrive for a week. So, the follow-up appointment was set for 12/15/11. My wife was extremely disappointed and expected the washer to be fixed on the 15th. At the appointment on the15th, the technician installed the parts, turned it on, and the circuit board burned out. Now my wife is absolutely livid as it will be another week or more before the circuit board and a new drain pump arrives. She is convinced that repair will fail as well as the tech does not seem to know what he is doing. She demanded that Sears provide her with a rental machine (they will reimburse, but we have to pay up front). She has also announced that she wants a new washing machine when this one breaks again and it wont be an F&P.

Bought my Fisher & Paykel washer and dryer from a local retailer, 6 or 7 years ago. The washer sounds like an airplane going off and the dryer has been serviced three times. This time after only 6 or 7 years, the dryer will cost $450 to fix, plus the $117 service call. I paid what I thought was a fortune for them both, being told they were the best out there. I have hated them since I got them. I went yesterday and bought a $498 set of Whirlpool washer and dryer to replace them. I cant wait to get them. I am going to throw my Fisher & Paykel in the trash and tell everyone I know not to buy their products. The retailer even told me that they are not built to last more than 6 to 7 years. Its too expensive in the first place and then to find that out. Never again!

Had my washing machine about 18 months, when the drain pump went, then about 4 weeks later the circuit board went down. What gets me angry is that each part takes over a week to get repaired to the machine, as they have to order the part. I find this outrageous that it takes that long. You can only contact Fisher Paykel on the 1300 number in NZ, and theyre not worried that you are without your appliance for however long, as the parts come from their Queensland depot, and they dont do overnight express. So I asked why they didnt have a service center with their parts here in WA, and every Capital City, but they said its not necessary to do that. What a lot of bull. Their customer service is disgusting. Washing machines are very needy when you have kids. Waiting for over a week to get any appliance fixed in this day and age is bad management, and they need to look at ways to provide quicker and better service to the consumers that buy their products that keeps them in jobs. This will be the last Fisher Paykel appliance I ever buy - never again!

When an appliance fails, I always believe that the best service you will get will be from the manufacturer. Hence my dish drawer started to make a troubling buzz. I booked a service online with Fisher Paykel, the manufacturer. I received an email that allowed me to track my service. I had booked a service for between 12 and 5pm and the initial time came though as 12-1pm. Immediately this isnt great as its slap bang in the middle of the day, but I requested it so I just reworked my day. Around 10am I got an update that said between 2pm and 3pm. OK, excellent I could now work out what I needed to do around this.At 2.38 its still saying between 2pm and 3pm and then I got a call from the engineer, telling me he has 4 jobs in front of me and wont be here until 5.30pm. Seriously? I called customer service and clearly they say that the app is only giving me a guide time, but why not update it? If the engineer knew his status was 5.30 at 2.38pm, it wasnt between 2-3pm at 1.59pm, was it?I then pointed out that beside this, the engineer would miss my time slot anyway, as 5.30pm is not between 12-5pm. They then offered to reschedule me, but heres where the damage really is. Fisher Paykel I NO LONGER TRUST YOU. Why would I put myself at the mercy of your poor customer service and time keeping again? Why would I allow you to disrespect my day so much by not telling me or keeping me up to date on the time of arrival. As I pointed out, the supermarket can tell me to the minute when they will deliver and they generally get it right. I will always trust them. This is the battle for customer service. Its about trust and Fisher Paykel, YOU FAILED ME. I do not want to deal with companies I cannot trust. Its up to you if you use their service.

I made the mistake of purchasing the FP Eco washer, reading the reviews - a total waste of money. It is only 3 years old and has a water pump 3 mo. old; I purchased it from Craigslist. I got one wash cycle out of it and it stopped draining. All we get is error code #37. Weve researched this error code 37 and tried to fix it ourselves and cannot. We purchased a Fisher & Paykel refrigerator, which was far more expensive than any other fridge that we considered. After delivery, we called to say that it was not cooling. The technician came once and added gas. After a day, it again stopped cooling. The technician came again, realized that there was a leak, and soldered some wires. When it started working, it was noisy. We called again, and they said they would replace the fridge the following week. They sent a truck to pick up the faulty one, and when we called the store to ask when the new one would be delivered, we learned that FP had changed their mind and did not want us as customers. We were left with rotting food and no fridge.

Horrible, horrible machine. I purchased a washer in 2007. The diverter valve had to be replaced within one year. Next, the pump failed; water leaked everywhere and shorted out the computer. We waited several weeks for replacement part. That pump failed as well. Another new pump was replaced in March 2011, and now the machine is leaking again. The water is coming from the pump. We called F&P customer service, and after discussing our problems with F&P, we were shocked to learn that you cant use bleach in these machines. To me this seems like someone selling a lawn mower that cannot cut grass. I will never buy an F&P product again. Ive read F&Ps responses on this site, and their responses are wholly unsatisfactory. Sure machines will need maintenance and repair, but I think a machine is inherently defective when its cost of repairs exceeds the purchase price within a short period of time.

We have the drawer version of the dishwasher and I am unimpressed with the performance. I have experimented with different dishwasher soaps, loading methods, rinse/wash cycles but I simply cannot get my dishes clean. I have had an ancient dishwasher previously with no issues; switched to this brand and it leaves food particles on dishes, cloudiness on my glasses and grease sitting in the bottom of the unit. I wash the dishes off before putting them in, but no improvement. The wash cycle also takes over 2 hrs which is impractical for the smaller apartment unit that is designed to run frequently with small loads.

I regret ever getting rid of my old washer. It was dependable. I think this is a sub-standard product and after reading the reviews here, I see that I am not the only person that feels this way. You should not have to have service on such a new product as often as you do on this. I am in good mind to just junk it and go buy a cheap regular washer that I can depend on. I am very frustrated and I am telling everyone that I know to stay away from this product. I have called customer service and left messages, but so far I have not had a return call. We had a double drawer dishwasher installed as part of our kitchen refurbishment last May. Within two months, the dishwasher would not drain. Contacted customer service - NOT - and after being on hold for a long time, I was finally told to contact a company called Millers Ltd. UK to arrange an engineer to come and fix the problem. This company sent out one of the rudest young men I have ever encountered and he left the dishwasher un-repaired, so we had to contact the kitchen company to make other arrangements, dishwasher fixed. In February 2015 the tines in the tray of the upper drawer broke. I went online to order a new tray and tines at a total cost of £73.40, I ordered what was in the photo on Fisher & Paykel website. The tray arrived without the tines. After several phone calls and mindless music, I finally managed to convince an assistant called Ula that if she checked her website, she would see what I thought I was ordering and therefore could she send me the tines. This she did and they all snapped while trying to fix them to the tray. We have since managed to do a DIY job on this tray. In March of this year, the upper drawer again would not drain, clean the dishes - so back onto Fisher Paykel and the awful music. Again given a number to contact to arrange an engineer to visit, told the assistant about our previous experience and asked that that company not be used again. A very helpful engineer arrived the next day and instantly knew the problem and replaced the rotor in the upper drawer, he had one on-hand as he had dealt with this problem several times. July, both drawers very noisy, not cleaning dishes and a red light and bleeping from the upper drawer. Contact Fisher & Paykel and again straight onto the awful music, finally get through to Hannah, who cannot find a contact number for my post code. Oops its my fault that she misheard my post code and was looking in the wrong area. I explain as best I can the problem and previous history, she tells me to contact the previous company I used in March. This I do to be informed that they no longer deal with Fisher & Paykel as their machines have multiple problems. Contact Fisher & Paykel and Hannah, again to be given a number which turns out to be Millers UK, a company I will never use or recommend. Try to contact Hannah again but am beaten by the awful music. Instead I am now getting an independent assessment of the machine and will be going back to the kitchen company that recommended the dishwasher and installed it, as to whether or not they will have to replace it with a better-quality machine.

You should have minus stars for F & P.8-month old fridge stopped cooling. Called F & P warranty repair, they sent Integrity Appliance. first call to F & P was 6/26/11, over the next 5 weeks they sent Integrity (usually with a long wait between to repair Fan motor control, then main contorl, then temp sensor, then PC fan. Never worked, although repairman declared it fixed. I requested replacement (5 weeks without a cold fridge in summer) and they made noises each time, but still decided on repair. They also said that since I bought from an open box store, they consider it refurb and would only replace with a refurb (watch out for Weiler Group, too- they dont disclose this at time of purchase). I was promised a call from a supervisor Monday 8/1 regarding replacement, but no one called. When I called today they said that theyve been in touch with Integrity and the repair company has ordered the part and is trying to schedule another repair. Integrity left last Fri after replacing the PC fan and again declared it fixed, although it was melting what little I had in the freezer - liquid popsicles and ice cream, soggy frozen peas. So how Integrity knew to order a part tfor something that was fixed... I also submitted my list of lost food (partial, actually, I got tired of making the list and going to the store to check prices) over $200 worth. I was told by F & P to submit a list with prices, since I didnt have photos - when I came home to fing everything spoiled I didnt think of photos I thought of getting the rotten smell out of the house. As to foday theyre going to investigate my claim - so now they seem to be renegging on that too.Since I was 99.999% sure they wouldnt replace the fridge, I spent more of my own money and bought a Kenmore over the weekend - I need a working fridge, and I have no faith in F & P, a company I found to be unethical and dishonorable. What I want now is 1)Id settle for $800 of the &1600 I spent on the useless box they call a fridge and 2) I want the money for my spoilage.

We owned a KitchenAid dishwasher for 30 years without a hitch. When we updated the kitchen, the salesman from Grand Appliance recommended the Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer. What a mistake. It has never worked right. We have had so many service calls that I cant count them. I will replace it eventually with another KitchenAid. Perhaps you should take this one and analyze it like they do in med school with corpses - and perhaps you can figure out where you went wrong. By the way, not only is the electrical stuff faulty, but it simply does not clean the dishes. If I wash them first, it might sort of rinse them. Plus, to run it for 132 minutes for the small amount of dishes it holds is not exactly eco-friendly.

I purchased the dishwasher a little over a year ago at Lowes and I did not purchase a warranty (I have never purchased one on any appliance ever) and I should have. The only reason I purchased it was because of the space I had available in my tiny kitchen. This has been the worst appliance I have ever purchased and I have purchased many. It does not clean well at all. I always have food residue on the dishes etc. I tried different dishwasher soaps and it doesnt make a difference. There is always water on the dishes when it is supposedly finished. I always have to dry them when it is done. WORST PURCHASE EVER. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS APPLIANCE AT ALL!!!

We had to replace a fridge that was 11 years old and defective so we got a Fisher & Paykel. We certainly appreciate the ice-making system and the fact that it doesnt take up too much room from the refrigerator section, thats for the cold water. Compared to other makes, the other one seems to take up a lot of room, this one is just a small space in the door. And for the ice, its very reasonable. Thats the main thing. This is the first time that I have the French doors. You cannot pull the drawers, neither the fruit nor the meat drawers without opening both doors. We bought our F&P Dish Drawer DD603 in 2002 during a kitchen remodel along with new countertops, Sub-zero, stove, microwave, etc. I would say we use our dishwasher regularly but no more than expected and especially at the price we paid. That said, I think at this point, Ive paid in repair costs pretty much what I paid for the unit plus extended warranty plus installation back then. When our extended service warranty ran out years ago, the DIY in me took on the task of diagnosing, buying, and replacing the parts myself. However, Im now at the point of deciding whether to cut my losses and toss the whole thing out. Last Oct., there was a leak, which rendered the unit inoperable. I replaced the shorted main filter board, both top and bottom wiring harness, and the bottom controller. All was well for about a month. Then, it looked like the top drawers lid wasnt closing securely as I find moisture on the side of the tub after a complaint of beeping dilemma. (She swears there wasnt anything remotely big in the tub that would prevent the lid from closing.) In any case, the top drawer controller seems to be a goner.Last night, I replaced the top controller. The top unit did light up, but my wife did the trial run using the bottom drawer instead. The top drawer practically beeped all night and no amount of coaxing, turn off, lock, open drawer, etc., would silence it. No codes, just R2D2 on a binge. Whats next? Replace the main filter again, a bad controller, replace the actuators, the entire lid, etc.? I have two choices now: (a) somehow rig this unit to see if it can operate with the good bottom drawer only or (b) cut my losses, parcel out my recently purchased parts on eBay, and replace the dishwasher? One of my neighbors bought the same F&P DD unit, but Im afraid to check with her about her experience.

I have purchased all these items and they have all malfunctioned just when out of warranty. I believe this is deliberate. The cost of repair is prohibitive to the extent that I have not bothered with the fridge or dryer however the dishdrawer showed an error code saying to call for a technician. I did this only to find that it worked again when the technician came out. I was forced to pay the call out fee for this. Most recently I wanted a new cutlery basket - not of my model but for the most recent one. I called and thought I had ordered the part - what arrived was one piece out of three. I called again and said I had not received all the parts and explained what I needed. I was then sent the same part that I already had again! I then called back and explained the 2 parts (each different) that I needed. I was then sent 2 of the same parts. I then called again and was told they could not work out which part I needed. We agreed I would send a photo and they would call me back when they got the photo. I received no phone call and called back. I was then sent a diagram to look at which I did and I explained which part I needed. I said that my dish drawer was 7 years old and I wanted the basket that came with the new model. I was then told that the part in the photo clipped onto the side of the cutlery basket. I explained that it was actually inserted into the cutlery basket. The man angrily repeated that it clipped onto the side and told me that it was the part I already had and did not need. I said that if read my email he would see that it was actually the part I needed. He then asked me for the serial number of the dish drawer. I said it would not help as the part I wanted actually came with the new model. He repeated angrily that he needed the serial number. I said that it would not help as my serial number was for a seven-year-old model. I said I would like to speak to someone else as he was upsetting me. I was then put on hold for 10 minutes. I then hung up. I rang again and spoke to Customer Care. I explained what had happened and advised that I still needed the part. I was told I would be called back about it. After 3 days I called back to be told that there were notes on the record to say that I had been called back that morning and a message had been left to say that the part would not be provided to me. I was near my phone at the time and there definitely was no call as verified by my phones missed call record. Ive now called again and am on hold - at this stage its been 35:07 minutes... I paid AU $1800 for my dish drawers 7 years ago - hardly a cheap product. My advice to anyone is: dont ever buy this brand. The appliances are designed to break and the after sales customer service is extremely poor. I have been treated with utter disrespect for my time and a complete lack of care for my feelings.

We bought Fisher Paykel washer last year and I cant say enough good things about it so when our Maytag drier broke I bought the Fisher Paykal drier that matched the washer even though the salesman recommended another brand. Ive given the drier several months and I still hate it. The worst problem is that the auto dry function does not work. The clothes consistently come out over dried. In fact Im surprised my bedspread didnt catch on fire in the drier. When I removed it (because I felt it had been in the drier too long) the panel still said it was damp but it was so cooked that it was completely puckered up and crisp in places. I had to replace it. Clothes still have lint all over them and I hate the fact that the timer can only be set for predetermined amounts of time and that I have to wait for the lid to unlock every time I want to open the lid. It’s a bad design flaw! I wish I could replace it but it seems Im stuck with it now. All I can do is to warn others.

Purchased a 8kg Wash Smart washing machine in 2020, leaking water from front of the door, not the seal. Tech assessed and left without fixing the issue, now it is leaking from the drawer and they are saying non warrantable. Poor response, over an hour spent on the phone and now we are getting told it will be another 2 weeks before they will come back out. Advised they will give me tips on washing.... hmm mother of 4, last machine lasted 10 years with no issues. Still in warranty, poor service, unreliable product!

5 weeks to replace a thermostat on a new $3000 oven. When raising the issue with F/P customer service I was told by a rather rude person that if the proposed time doesnt suit them Then they would schedule the repair for an even later date. Simply not good enough. Call center staff made it clear they were not interested in dealing with me as an individual just a number. Never again.

I purchased a Fisher Paykel dryer in January of 2016. The dryers commuter board failed in April of 2019. I had to pay for this repair ($300.00). It is August of 2019 and the dryer has failed again. Now I am concerned that the matching washing machine will fail. I would never recommend this product. They used to be a quality line now they are junk!!! DO NOT BUY!!!

We bought a slightly used machine and for 2 weeks, things were fine. Then during the wash, the machine would stop with an error code indicating a problem with a motor sensor. Then after a month or so, the machine would not run - just the same error soon after the washer was started. There was no repair service that I could identify in our area. Anyway, after numerous attempts to run the machine, I let it sit for about 2 weeks unplugged. Then I tried it again, and it works like a champ now. The washer has completed 7 loads with no errors. This is an excellent machine when it works. And if it continues to do so, I would certainly recommend it to anyone who could afford the purchase price.

I needed a new washer and went to Tracys Appliance in Lima. Im only 4 foot 7 inches so many of the washers were too big for me. The salesman was showing me around and showed me the Fisher & Paykel and talked to me about it. I was able to reach to the bottom of the washer. I said Id take it and they delivered the next day. Im very happy with my washer and dryer. This is far superior than others Ive had. It does an excellent job! I almost look forward to doing the laundry. Im very pleased with it and how it does my laundry.

I filed a complaint a year ago stating the DCS broiler was delayed in lighting then making a small explosion when igniting. Fisher & Paykel worked out a deal to fix the broiler for 50% off parts - worked twice. I was trying to use it tonight and on the third time Im using it, the stupid thing wont ignite. This $3K stove is a piece of crap.

I booked a service with Fisher and Paykel for a repair of my dish drawers, purchased in 2017. The repair cost $334 and it broke 2 days later. When I phoned, the customer service representative hung up on me when I asked for a refund. When I called back, I was only offered a partial refund and I am still $118 out of pocket for a repair that lasted 2 days. The dishwasher cost over $1500 so I certainly expected better. Unfortunately this is not the first issue Ive had either. Beware.

I will never again purchase anything made by Fisher & Paykel!

This 2020 model 9kg heat pump dryer simply will not dry sheets. It tangles them in a ball, dries them for 2 hours and they remain damp. Even if you run successful cycles, they continually tangle and take many cycles to dry (and I taking just 2 sheets - not heaps). Towels are also very slow - several hours, but they do eventually get there. To do your washing takes a whole day with the endless problems - untangling sheets and re-running the cycle. Plus there is zero customer support. *If* you can get through, you get some poor chap who doesnt speak English well and he cannot help you. Hopeless. I have been a loyal F&P customer for 30+ years but will never buy another appliance from them. I assume that since Haier have acquired a controlling interest, but have also stated that they want the Haier brand to be the premium brand, that they are deliberately letting the F&P brand go in to decline.

So I've read a lot of negative reviews about FP. I have been using it since a 6000 sqft project build I did almost 10 years ago using a dual drawer dishwasher. THIS IS THE ONLY DISHWASHER I'LL EVER BUY. A 2 drawer dishwasher is very civilized... 2 completely independent running drawers that clean very well. Next renovation in a $2M condo I put in same dishwasher and a FP Washer and Ventless Dryer. I could not be happier. Never any service problems, cosmetically beautiful, and nice ergonomics. Don't overload it.

Fisher & Paykel EcoSmart GWL15 has cost a lot of money in repairs over the couple of years Ive owned it (on my 3rd agitator). The final straw is today, when we came home from a vacation with many loads of wash to do and the control panel is beeping, completely broken and not working! I am so frustrated! Do not buy Fisher & Paykel if you want a maintenance-free trustworthy washer! It has been very costly to replace 3 agitators and probably now, a control board! Totally unreliable! I will never buy this brand again!

We have an F&P double dish draw. The top draw started to have an error message mid wash - U6. The bottom draw worked perfectly. It took 2 weeks to get a service appointment after being cut off on the phone twice. They came this morning and replaced a water valve but confirmed the bottom draw was in perfect working order. $180 later, valve replaced and told all good. Load the dish draw tonight after dinner and go to turn on. No power to either draw. I think the service tech must have turned off at the power point. No it is on. We connect to another power source. Still no power. I call F and P after hours number. Eventually a very unhelpful and non caring Leah tells me the earliest appointment to attend is Monday next week.We have Christmas at our home this weekend and cannot be without a dishwasher. Surely we would be a priority as it was working before they attended. I was put on hold abruptly for 12 minutes, and then had another staff member say that there would be no refund and I had to have a booking for the new problem. They would try for tomorrow but no guarantee. I now have to take a second day off work, have no dishwasher at all for the Christmas party, and if I am lucky I might not have to pay for them to fix their own mistake. Shame shame shame on you F&P. And a little empathy and customer service training would not go astray. Also I do expect a refund for your technician mistake that has cost me. Very unhappy.

Two of the igniters on my 9 yr old range stopped working. I tried to get the igniters repaired by two different appliance repair companies that Fisher Paykel recommended ($300.00 expense) both telling me the same thing - the unit was unable to be repaired due to a design flaw. I call Fisher Paykel and asked for assistance and was told since it was 9 yrs old they werent going to do anything. So my $10,000 range is now a good looking piece of junk! I would never purchase anything from this company!!!!

I purchased at the same time a Fisher Paykel Washer (model WA37T26G: ECOSMART) and Fisher Paykel Dryer (model WA42T26GW1: ECOSMART) in 2008/09. First problem was the spinning on the washer stopped. I called a repair person; it cost me over $200 to fix. Second problem, the dryer just quit working, deader than a doornail! I called a repairman. They said it would cost more for the part than what the dryer is worth! I tossed the Fisher Paykel dryer and bought a Maytag. Now, just this week, the washer stopped spinning again. This time, being ECOSMART, I looked online for COMMON PROBLEMS with these models and found that the water pump gets wet from a leak in the washer and rusts and freezes the water pump which in turn blows out the fuse in the control board. My husband took it apart and it was confirmed... The pump is junk and rusted and the CONTROL BOARD is dead. With a 50 cent fuse, it could fix the problem, but NO, Fisher Paykel doesnt tell you that. They want you to spend $185+ for a new control board to fix their POOR DESIGN! Now, we have to fork out more money to replace this junk water pump to avoid paying for a new washer. Guess what? The new pumps have fuses on them to prevent the control board from blowing out. Well, how bout recalling them and fix the design?!! Just a thought! A Fisher Paykel will not be in my house after this washer DIES again! (Oh, Shame on you, Consumer Reports! I went by your recommendation for these models!) ECOSMART? I think not!

The griddle on this range is a piece of junk. It does not heat over 250 degrees. I have contacted Fisher & Paykel numerous times about this problem. They referred us to a repair service. The serviceman does not even want to work on a DCS. They have adjusted the griddle numerous times and replaced the thermostat twice. It still does not get hot enough! Fisher & Paykel will not let you talk to their technician to explain how the griddle is working. We are unable to get a phone number where we can talk to someone who understands how the griddle is supposed to work. One of the service reps in New Zealand asked us to fax all the records we have kept on the problems with this range. The number he gave us would not go through. I think he did not want to give us a correct number. He would not even give us his last name so we could talk to him again! If they were an automotive manufacturer, after reading all the bad reviews, the government would have already put them out of business!

I have had the Fisher&Paykel Top Loading Dryer Model DEGX2 dryer since 10-2007. I had no problems with it until 3-9-2011 (bearings replaced). On 9-9-2011, dryer would not heat. Since then, I have had (as of 5-18-2012) eleven (11), under extended warranty service, calls for same problem. Dryer begins to leave clothes damp. I can see lint build up within lint scraper module (lint basket sits in this and it is not part of customer use to remove screw and module to clean lint that is not properly taken into basket). This module has been replaced and the new one had sticky residue all over it when I had no drying problem again. Warranty Company (Lowes) says the visits are a maintenance problem saying that I (the user) am not removing lint. (I do I empty the basket.) Nowhere in the users handbook does it say to take the lint module out and remove lint. This module is difficult to fit in properly; I have watched different repairmen have problems. This dryer is a pain. I paid a lot of money for it and it does not appear that the warranty company is going to back up replacement/refund due to how the repair visits are reported. I had this dryer for four years and until the bearing problem it was fine. I am angry. Do not buy Fisher&Paykel. Do not use Lowes extended protection plans.

I purchased a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher through Lowes. The reason I chose this is because its the only brand that makes that little drawer dishwasher anymore. I absolutely needed that size unit because we have very small condominium kitchen and I just simply could not have a drawer that laid down, theres no space, so I like the unit very much. Its working fine and the quality seemed good. The stainless is good. The installation was fairly easy. It was done by a contractor and Ive been happy with it. It was an easy purchase. Lowes did okay. There are a lot of people who are living in smaller spaces as things get smaller so I think those compact appliances are really great.

My F & P dual drawer dishwasher never seems to clean well. The area under the filter/screen is always full of water and F & P says thats normal. The screen itself needs to be rinsed every several of loads as grease seems to build up on the inside. I run DW cleaner every dozen loads or so and it doesnt seem to help. I am very dissatisfied with this product. I got it so my disabled son can easily reach into the top drawer for loading and unloading and it works well for this purpose but its hardly worth it if the dishes have to be washed by hand after theyve been run through the machine.

Both ovens broke after self cleaning. I used one of the service providers on the website after calling quite a few which did not service Fisher Paykel. They came out numerous times with various parts and were only able to fix one. I tried other service providers but none service this brand. After months of back and forth with the service provider to settle on an amount since it wasnt able to be fixed and then Fisher Paykel, the best Fisher Paykel could offer was for me to buy a new oven at a discount of $3500. Fisher Paykel even admitted on the phone that they knew that self cleaning had this kind of results. I dont understand how they could expect me to spend that kind of money to replace an item they admit has defects. My advice is to stay far away from this company with no real customer service.

7/28/14 I have not been able to find any good reviews of this product, so I'm going to do my best to give one to help others as they consider buying this fridge. I know people want to know how a product lasts over time, so I'll do my best to remember to keep updating this review. As of today, the fridge has been up and running for 2 days. It is important to note that our fridge is a B-stock unit (was returned by someone, but never used. They listed the reason as "damaged packaging"). We did not buy through this website. THE BACKSTORY Our previous fridge was a big 36" standard depth white GE side-to-side that someone gave us for free. We knew it was only a temporary solution, and started saving for its replacement for when it would die on us. The rest of our kitchen appliances were stainless, so we were looking forward to the day our big white fridge kicked the bucket so we could have a more uniform look. Yesterday, we got home from a trip and our fridge was making loud and scary noises that wouldn't stop. We saw this as the perfect excuse to make the switch. I had heard of Fisher and Paykel before, and was told they were a good solution for a long-lasting fridge without all the unnecessary bells and whistles (that end up breaking and causing service calls down the road). I also thought this was the most elegant looking out of all of its competitors. I like the simple, flat look of this unit. I headed over to our closest appliance outlet store and found a B-stock unit that was never used (still had the plastic wrap), but had a dent in the back. We saved a thousand dollars on this unit because of a dent nobody would ever see. Score! INSTALLATION I took it home in my van and let it stand for 8 hours before turning it on (guy at store said this was important to do so all the liquids in the compressor could settle into place after transporting it on its back - better safe than sorry). During that time, I installed the included water filter and hoses to the fridge. It comes with everything you need except the piece that actually taps into your water line. Since we already had that from our previous fridge, this was a breeze. No need to call a plumber. The instruction manual was very easy to follow on installation of water components. I am the least handy guy you could know, so trust me when I say this was easy! During the time the fridge sat unplugged, I also wiped down the shelves and bins, took off the plastic wrap, and read the instruction manual. I HIGHLY recommend reading the manual. There are so many features in this fridge that aren't highlighted on the companies website that I never would have known about had I not read the manual. I'll go into more detail in the "Features" Section of this review. After the 8 hours, I plugged the fridge in and let it get to its proper temperature (about 2 hours). I used this time to adjust the front legs (it is supposed to be raised up 1/2" higher in the front than the back for ease of door use). During this time, the exterior sides and back of the unit got HOT! Like, I'm afraid this thing is going to explode, hot. Thankfully after reaching its desired interior temps, the exterior cooled off substantially. Today, it isn't even warm. I made sure to run all the air pockets out of the water line, and discarded the first few batches of ice as instructed. FEATURES First of all, keep in mind that we were previously using a big, standard depth side-by-side before, and have never had a counter-depth fridge, or one with a freezer on the bottom. Having made the transition, it is clear that these fridges are not for everyone. I'll try to explain in more detail as I go. - Counter-Depth: This opened up our kitchen far beyond what we were expecting. I know its only a few inches shallower, but it made a huge difference for us. Our kitchen just got bigger and brighter! Our fridge is no longer the elephant in the room. This fridge looks great, but blends in. It does come with some trade offs. The depth of storage in the fridge is very shallow. For example, I don't see the ability to fit a large pizza box in the fridge or the freezer (untested theory). - Doors: I've been to some peoples houses where their french doors were really hard to either open or close. These open with no problem, and close even easier. The freezer door is a bit harder to open than the fridge doors, but not difficult by any stretch. - Hidden top hinges: I love how the top hinges are covered in the front. It is a small attention to detail which really makes this thing look clean and sharp. It also makes cleaning the top of the fridge so much easier! - Water dispenser: Some people may not like that this doesn't have a door ice dispenser (ice is dispensed in a bin in the freezer). It is perfect for us, I love the shallow water chamber that doesn't cut into storage space on the inside door. It also is easier to clean, and you can fill any size container without worrying if it will fit. For us, the water comes out fast, and fills things up quickly. People who like to set a glass in the water cavity and walk away while it fills up will not like this feature. It is too shallow to set a glass in, you will need to hold it the entire time. Not a problem for us. - Shelving: This model has 3 shelves (2 of which are height adjustable). These shelves go across the full width of the fridge. Some of this units competitors have adjustable shelves that only go halfway for more customization, but in my opinion that is just more breakable pieces, and it cuts into the amount of things you can store. The full-width shelves work perfectly for our needs. Also, many competitors' fridges have white plastic spill proofing around the edges of their shelves. In my opinion, this makes a fridge look cheap and flimsy. The ActiveSmart fridge has beautiful brushed metal spill proofing, it looks so much more elegant and uniform. Sounds like a small thing, but it is one of my favorite features! - Door Storage: Because of the shallow water dispenser, you get full storage on both doors. This increases the storage like no other. There are large compartments with dividers for gallon sized jugs and tall items. At the top of each french door, there is a compartment with a lid for butters or cheeses. Our previous fridge had one of these compartments with a rounded lid, it really limited storage, but these have a squared off lid that allows you to stack items without worrying about closing the lid. My biggest complaint of this fridge is that these lids don't stay open when you lift them. So you need one hand to hold the lid open, and another to grab whatever is inside. It may sound negligible, but i'm usually holding something else when I need something from these compartments. Hopefully I'll get used to it. As of right now, it's really annoying. - Wine/Bottle holders: There really isn't a place in this fridge where you would be able to store a wine bottle standing up other than the doors, so they included 4 horizontal holders that clip to the back of every shelf. These holders also stack upon another so if you don't have 4 bottles to hold, they don't take up a lot of room. Very thoughtful feature. If you insist on storing your wine or tall bottled drinks standing up, you may not like this fridge. - REMOVABLE BINS!: This is my very favorite feature of this fridge. All drawers in the fridge and freezer are actually pull out shelves with clear bins sitting on top. This is so useful for so many reasons. Instead of shuffling through the vegetables or fruits to find what you are looking for with the fridge doors open, you can just pull out the desired bin and take it to the counter, find what you need and easily put it back. The same is true for meats/cheese bins, frozen drawers, and the ice bin. Saves tons of energy. Also, it makes cleaning drawers out a breeze. Just pull it out, rinse the bin in the sink, and dry out. I love this feature! - Crisper drawers: Like most fridges, this has separate drawers for fruits and vegetables with a separate humidity setting for each. Keep in mind, you need to open both french doors to pull out the drawer. Even though there are two separate sections, the full drawer they share takes up the full width of the fridge. People who only want to open one door and pull out fruits or veggies will not like this fridge. - Meats and Cheese Drawers: I like that there are two separate sections for these. We use the left one for lunch meat and cheeses, and the right one for other meats (steak, beef, fish, etc...). It is especially nice to use one of these as a dedicated meat thawing section without worry of any juices finding their way to other items in the fridge. Again, you need to open both french doors to access these compartments. - Lighting: Our previous fridge had a light in the top back center. If we had anything in front of it (which was always), it would darken the rest of the fridge, making it difficult to see other items throughout. This fridge has a strip of LED lighting at the top front of the unit which allow for full illumination of the entire contents of the fridge no matter how you have your food arranged. Very nice touch! There are no lights on the doors, but enough spills from the inside of the fridge that you will be able to make out what you need even in the middle of the night. - Ice machine: Since this is only our 2nd day, all I can say is it works as advertised so far. I know the ice machine is usually the biggest issue people have with any fridge, so I'll keep my eye on it and let you know if anything weird happens over time. The default setup is that in the freezer, there is a top shelf with 2 big bins across the width. In the left big bin, there is a smaller one that takes up half the width of that bin, and that is the ice bin. If you require more ice, you can just remove the smaller bin and let the ice dispense into the bigger bin. With either bin, it is supposed to stop producing ice when it is full. If you need even more ice, you can fill up the big bin on the left, switch it with the right bin, and fill up that one too. Lots of versatility, and the removable bins are great if you are entertaining! - Freezer: The freezer has a top shelf that pulls out with the ice bin, plus a bin and a half of storage for other things. Then there is a large cavity below for the storage of everything else. If you are a person who usually packs out your freezer of your current fridge, I don't think you will enjoy a counter-depth freezer-on-the bottom model. This is definitely more for the person who has a larger ratio of fresh food to frozen food. I can easily see people needing to dig around the lower cavity if they over fill it. For our family, we don't need much freezer space, so it works perfect for us so far. - Noise: As of right now, there is a constant hum that is about the volume of somebody whispering softly. It is audible, but not something you can hear unless you are in the kitchen. I'm not sure if this will always hum, or if it is just because we haven't filled up our ice bin to the top yet, and the ice machine is constantly working. I'll update the review when we find out. - ActiveSmart Tech: I don't really know what it is, other than it's supposed to do a good job of keeping your food cold. Mission accomplished so far. - Other features: Sabbath mode, open door alarm (90 seconds for fridge, 60 seconds for freezer), ability to turn off open door alarm (for cleaning), water dispenser lock (for cleaning or curious kids), ice bin on/off, fast ice, temperature controls, bottle chill function (allows you to chill a beverage quickly in freezer, and will sound alarm when it is done), fast freeze (for quick freezing of fresh food), water filter replacement indicator, lock fridge controls (for cleaning) and others I'm sure I'm forgetting. Fridge controls are located inside the fridge. We purchased a new Fisher Paykel refrigerator in MAY of 2013 (two months ago). When delivered and plugged in, the compressor was very loud and created a tone that is at a frequency that is intolerable. High pitch buzzing. This is straight out of the box. After 2 months, 6 service calls and three days off from work and new parts, it keeps whinging along. So loud it is causing my ears to ring. Fisher Paykel is not responsive and is giving the business we bought it from a runaround (Cocoplum appliance Essex, Vermont). Even after filing a complaint with the US FTC and the State of Vermont Consumer Affairs, there is no resolution. We are waiting to hear back today and if no response, we will get a personal injury attorney to work on a hearing damage claim. It is probably the only way to approach this as theres no where to turn. I do not understand that when they delivered a defective product, they dont back it up with the warranty.

I purchased the Fisher Paykel washer and dryer 3 years ago from Lowes, after being coaxed into it by the sales associate. He was really pushing these appliances, and they certainly arent as good as he claimed they were! I have been very dissatisfied with these appliances, especially the dryer! I hate the weird noises it makes when putting it on, pause, and turning it off! Ive had nothing but problems with it. It takes forever to dry anything! Weve had a repairman out, and he replaced an element after wed only had it for 2 years! It still took forever to dry my clothes, and now it wont dry anything! It certainly cant be energy efficient if I have to run it for hours to dry one load of clothes! This was the worst appliance purchase weve ever made, and I have nothing good to say about it to anyone!

This is my second Fisher & Paykel dishwasher. It has not been stellar. The dishwasher has broken for the third time in four years. The response from Fisher & Paykel has equaled my dishwasher experience. Four calls to get a response. They only offered to pay for parts and labor when parts were replaced the last 2 times. I believe a third breakdown in four years deserves a new dishwasher and no payment for service call. Very disappointed.

Weve had problems with both the washer and dryer. The washer leaked from the bottom and we had it repaired. The repairman explained that the cause was from not using the rinse cycle when washing whites and that they do not use bleach overseas. Now, our dryer is 3 1/2 years old and it’s in need of a repair. It sounds as though the bearing is going out of it. These were expensive appliances and one should be able to expect at least 10 years.

We have had the washer dryer set about 4 years. A year ago the alleged timer switch went out. We called Fisher Paykel. They told us to pay for a service tech to inspect the dryer and let them know if it’s faulty. Then if so, they would replace. I went through the steps they asked and had the switch replaced at no cost to me. A year later, I am having the same problem. They don’t sell this dryer any longer. And again, they want me to pay for someone to come out and inspect and let them know if the switch is faulty. Really? Just like the other complaints, I really don’t think having the same issue and having to wait several weeks for repair is reasonable, nor is it reasonable to have to pay for the service call out of pocket and now having to take off work for the same issue they fixed a year ago.

I called Fisher Paykel to clarify range installation clearances. The first time I called, after waiting at least 20 minutes on hold, I talked briefly to someone who couldnt answer my question so he forwarded the call to a technician. After waiting another ten minutes, the technician hung up on me. The second time I called, I again had to wait at least 20 minutes. The person I spoke with that time said he would get answers & call me back. He never did.

I was washing a load of laundry, I went down to throw them in the dryer. When I lifted the washer lid, there was a burnt smell! I lifted up to look under the washer to see the pump wet and on closer look, burnt! There is no power to the machine now. I called customer service to let them know Ive called around and found tech to fix it. He told me to call them to get authorization and the customer service agent told me, I dont know why youre calling us. I called the service tech back, now I have to pay for parts and service call on a machine that is only 2 years old! After looking up this washer and all the complaints on this company, I will never purchase this brand again!

We went to Gorsuch Appliance in Canton and they were telling us about the Fisher & Paykel. My Maytag washer died after 18 years so I switched to the Fisher & Paykel on their recommendation. What sold me on the product was the no agitator thing and that it weighed the load. Also because Maytag is not what it used to be. I like the washer. Compared to what my other one was, its slow and I thought these new washers were faster. It takes a little longer, but I can get more clothes in. Thats a big plus. And Ive only had one time where it was off balanced and that was the first time that I washed sheets and I didnt read the instructions properly.
