I bought a Fisher and Paykel dryer less than six years ago and the major drum has already gone out. The dryer has not been used that much as I am a widow and hang my clothes out in nice weather. It will cost so much to replace it and it is also throwing little pieces of metal in lint trap. I will have to buy a new dryer and it will not be this brand. I am on very limited income and it is putting a hardship on me to have to replace. The reason I bought the set is it came highly rated. Will not recommend to anyone.
We love all our new professional look appliances (cooktop, vent, dish washer, fridge, microwave and oven). Not only they look great but perform well and our expectation. Good job!!
We were looking for a second refrigerator in our home, and went to a company called Pacific Sales. They were closing that particular store, and the Fisher & Paykel unit we bought was probably a previous years floor model. Its got a lot of bells and whistles, one of which was not working - some alarms thing or something was bad. We called the service company and they came out and took care of it. It was a new unit and it had this problem... but other than that everythings been great. We had not really heard of the brand prior to making the purchase, but are very happy with it now that we have it.
My girlfriend’s aunt has a Fisher and Paykel washer and dryer she’s had for about 10-11 years if not longer. She said she’s never had a problem with them so I decided to buy a F & S washer and dryer too. So far I haven’t had any issues. I’m happy with them.
I purchased the double dish washer from Fisher & Paykel. They have high quality products. It measures up pretty well to other appliances Ive looked at. My favorite feature on the dish washer is the 2 drawers.
First let me say if I could rate it lower I would. I purchased the dishwasher a little over a year ago at Lowes and I did not purchase a warranty (I have never purchased one on any appliance ever) and I should have. The only reason I purchased it was because of the space I had available in my tiny kitchen. This has been the worst appliance I have ever purchased and I have purchased many. It does not clean well at all. I always have food residue on the dishes etc. I tried different dishwasher soaps and it doesnt make a difference. There is always water on the dishes when it is supposedly finished. I always have to dry them when it is done. WORST PURCHASE EVER. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS APPLIANCE AT ALL!!!
A friend who had a refrigerator recommended Fisher & Paykel to me. My first purchase was a refrigerator. The second one, the most recent, was a dishwasher. I was so pleased with my refrigerator that’s why I chose the same Fisher & Paykel for a dishwasher. However, with the dishwasher, I’m not real happy with it. It was leaving a lot of spots on the glasses. I’ve tried changing the rinse agent that I put in and changing dishwasher detergent, which did improve it somewhat. But I’m finding it is not getting the dishes and cups and things as clean as other dishwashers I’ve had. I was still trying to experiment with different detergents and whatnot. And if I’m still unhappy, then I would definitely give them a call. Nonetheless, I think Fisher & Paykel is a good company and they stand behind their product.
Fisher Paykel phoned me and offered to supply the parts if I pay for the labor. So instead of $377.85 it cost me $93.00 to fix my washing machine. Im happy with the outcome. Hopefully my washing machine will give me another ten years of service. Thank you Fisher Paykel.
The Ecosmart FP Washer was recommended by a designer friend of mine who loved these washers and said she had recommended this to several of her clients. It had a belt driven motor, was low maintenance and easy to repair. So I bought mine in 10/2009. It has worked great for 3 years and btw just last week, I recommended it to a friend because I loved it so much! Anyway, a few days ago I noticed a leak had developed so I had the repairman come out. He said it needed a new part called an Electronic Pump Assembly or a Kit Repair and Fuse at the price of $343.45 with labor at $220 and tax at $29.96 totaling $592.41 (oh, and service fee of $49.95 just to tell me this). What?! I said, That is almost the price of a new washer? He said, Yes, I see this pump go out a lot on these washers but the new part has been improved and should last about 10 years. But darn it, I shouldnt have to pay the cost of a new machine just to get that defective part replaced. I am so disappointed and frustrated because I actually like this unit. Im not sure if I want to risk purchasing another FP Washer (what if it still has that defective part?). It only lasted 3 years!
This is my second Fisher & Paykel dishwasher. It has not been stellar. The dishwasher has broken for the third time in four years. The response from Fisher & Paykel has equaled my dishwasher experience. Four calls to get a response. They only offered to pay for parts and labor when parts were replaced the last 2 times. I believe a third breakdown in four years deserves a new dishwasher and no payment for service call. Very disappointed.
Two drawer unit, quality looking stainless steel & incredible amount of room! No problems, but service techs have told me the unit is a dish sanitizer & not to allow any food particles or it will plug up. Very expensive unit.
We walked into a store, saw the Fisher & Paykel dishwasher, started checking it out and asking questions. I liked the two-door setup as opposed to a one-door setup, so we just thought it was cool. We like it. We had one with the little spikes on the dish rack, and they would break off right away, but it’s probably just a bad weld. So they’re sending us a new one so theyre right on it.
Five and a half years ago, I purchased a Fisher Paykel Aerotech oven from Lowes. This evening, I cooked a pizza on the Aero Pastry setting per the oven manual. I turned it off and my family sat down to eat. We finished eating and were getting ready to go to the pool when my husband decided it was too late and we would stay home instead. Lucky for us because when he looked at the oven, he noticed flames on the inside of the inner cover shooting out. He ran downstairs and turned off the breaker and I threw baking soda on them. After the oven cooled, he took off the back plate and the heating element was cracked and melted. If we had left and not looked inside the oven, we would have come home to find our dog dead and everything we owned gone. No, Im not happy at all.
After our 30 something yr old Maytag clothes washer quit, we decided to go with Fisher & Paykel because that’s what the repairman suggested to us. We had it delivered. The installation was excellent. So far, the washer is working good. Excellent! No problem so far.
I wish I had heard about the Fisher Paykel brand about 6 years ago, and I definitely would have bypassed this brand. I have no problems with the dryer so far, but the washer starts beeping into the wash cycle, and it takes forever (and I mean forever) for the tub to fill (Im talking about all day to finish 2 loads of clothes), because Im constantly having to go and press the machine to start up again. It wont rinse. It only fills, and then drains. It also leaks from time to time. I figure the whole panel is shot, and I dont know what the deal is with the tub filling so slowly, but Im completely fed up with it, and after reading other complaints, I feel misled by this company and doubt Ill even bother to waste money to have it checked out. Both the washer and dryer had light usage (2 to 3 loads per week). I will never buy another washer or dryer with a push button computer panel, nor will it ever be the Fisher Paykel brand. I bought my old Kenmore washer and dryer second-handed, and they were still going after 28 years, when I got rid of them. I wish I had them back (who cares if they werent energy efficient, they worked, which is more than I can say for the overpriced cheap junk imported from overseas these days)! I would gladly pay more money for products made in America that is of good quality!
Bought a 2 drawer dishwasher. Very quiet and nice.
Weve only used a Fisher&Paykel brand dishwasher both in our previous house and the one that we moved in to now. Theres just two of us so we dont generate a lot of dishes so F&P works out real good for us. I have recommended them to friends.
Okay, so the repairman finally came through with the list of all the parts needed for the job! Wow you wouldnt think an authorized dealer would take so long to communicate with Fisher and Paykel, but I must say, once he did the company came through and backed their product. Our ovens are set to be repaired as soon as the parts come in and without charge. I will re-post after the job is complete. But so far so good. Very impressed with customer service rep.
I chose this counter depth refrigerator RF175WDX1 as part of a kitchen remodel. After 3 months or so, all is good. It is quiet and looks good in the kitchen. I purposely chose this model without water & ice, but the one thing I would suggest is a separate, narrow shelf for ice trays.
Fisher Paykel DD603 - I doubt that I will ever own a different dish washer. The simplicity, efficiency, reliability, and overall low cost of ownership is remarkable.
We just bought our house 2 weeks ago. It has 2 Fisher Paykel drawer type dishwashers. We have yet to get a load of clean dishes out of these machines. We rinse our dishes and then run the dishwasher at the end of the day so it is not like the dishes are sitting around for days. These machines look like they are new. The rest of the appliances are new.
I previously posted a complaint on January 24, 2012 about my washing machine. After my post, Fisher Paykel contacted me promptly and a repairman came out and repaired my washer, free of charge. I wished I had first contacted the company and given them a chance before posting a complaint. I cant speak for others, but my complaint was handled in a very professional and proficient manner and Im elated to have my washer working again.
The fridge (no ice or water) has been fine, in fact we bought another Fisher Paykel. But we bought the second one with a side handle. The handle on our first fridge kept breaking off. The technician said the magnets were too strong. You may want to check the pressure it takes to open the door because you can take out some magnets. It costs about $150-$170 Cdn to replace (parts and labour past warranty period). Here are the two old handles of our old fridge which is now in the basement. We are on our third handle and I open it by pulling on the top of the door.
Our Fisher and Paykel Washsmart top loading clothes washer is still in warranty and the pump failed. After 4 days a Fisher and Paykel service representative arrived, gave the machine a shake and the pump began to work again. Two weeks later, the pump failed again. We now have to wait 6 days to get a service representative for a machine that has been looked after immaculately. Does anyone have had the same experience, and is there a simple remedy?
I filed a complaint a year ago stating the DCS broiler was delayed in lighting then making a small explosion when igniting. Fisher & Paykel worked out a deal to fix the broiler for 50% off parts - worked twice. I was trying to use it tonight and on the third time Im using it, the stupid thing wont ignite. This $3K stove is a piece of crap.
I bought this dryer (Dryer model DEIX2 top loading dryer) only 5 years ago. The control panel had been failing but I could reset it by unplugging the unit. I bought an extended warranty (thank God) since I cant get a replacement part. Dryer has been deemed un-repairable. I guess appliances should be considered disposable!
We bought a brand new house with brand new appliances. Since move in, our warming drawer and dishwasher have not worked properly. The dishwasher has always leaked and the warming drawer was actually midwifed AT THE FACTORY. It turned on high and wouldnt turn off. It melted its own thermostat and control knob and was a major fire hazard. We had to turn off the breaker. The parts have since been replaced. The dishwasher is a major leak problem. It is ruining our beautiful new floor. We have had 4 services on it and a replaced part and the bottom drawer still leaks. Despite the fact that it is under manufacturers warranty, the company wont replace it. Save yourself the pain and DO NOT PURCHASE from this company.
In my all entire life I had been changed my range only 2 times. I have been in USA for almost 30 years, I had to change my range which was build in the kitchen since 1960s. I renovated my apartment 2008 and had to buy new range, which I chose Fisher & Paykel. Since the first year I had problem with the burners. I had spend more money more than the value of the unit. I highly recommend even do not go close to it, and to look at it even. The worse range that I had in my life.I called a couple of technician to let them know, all had been advise me it is not worth, change it.
I surprised my wife with a brand-new Fisher Paykel double-drawer dishwasher because I got tired of cleaning and servicing her old one. They are not inexpensive. Within one month, the start button receded into the chassis. The service person found that the lighted collar around the start button was made of cheap plastic and had simply broken making the machine inoperable. I would think for the amount of money that durn machine cost, they could afford to at least make the plastic parts durable enough to last more than a month.
I bought Fisher Paykel refrigerator in 2014. My refrigerator is not working since 4/10/2016. We ring their technician on 4/10/2016. He came on same day. He check then he told that, one part is not working so he came at night on same day. He tries but didnt succeed. He said that now another part is to replace. He told that he will get parts from Mumbai. After few days he told that now he will go to Mumbai & will bring parts with him. On 22/10/2016, he told that he bring part & will change today. I logged complain in Fisher Paykel on 22/10/2016. Then after nobody has approach us. My refrigerator is still not working.
Whatever you do stay away from DCS. We purchased a DCS 6 burner Range-top, fridge, and wall oven in November 2014. No problem with anything until second batch of Christmas cookies a week before Christmas when the oven temp dropped to 140. Repairman said we needed a micro temp limiter and another limiter. He said he could probably fix it before Christmas if he could get the parts. Having selected DCS because of offices and warehouse in California we thought we were going to be roasting turkey and baking rolls for a big family Christmas dinner... Not exactly. Sometime last Fall the Fisher and Paykel brain trust closed all their US warehouses and all phone calls for customer service are now routed to New Zealand. The Kiwis working the phones in Wellington are useless. They can tell us they know the parts have been ordered but they dont have them in stock and they cannot tell us when they will be available to ship to the US. Weve been without the wall oven for a month now. Crossing our fingers that the fridge and range-top keep working.
We purchased a Fisher & Paykel refrigerator because we liked what the salesman had to say about them as a brand. And I liked that they had water in the door but not ice which opened up the refrigerator for more stuff kind of things. I didnt want something with ice on the door but I liked the idea of an ice maker in the freezer and water in the door. Ive never seen one that does that. I did have an issue with the refrigerator but they were very responsive and helped to get it taken care of. Ill know better as time goes on how long itll last and stuff but so far I would recommend them.
Adam the technician who came out and solved the problem with our range was extremely helpful. Excellent customer service
I purchased at the same time a Fisher Paykel Washer (model WA37T26G: ECOSMART) and Fisher Paykel Dryer (model WA42T26GW1: ECOSMART) in 2008/09. First problem was the spinning on the washer stopped. I called a repair person; it cost me over $200 to fix. Second problem, the dryer just quit working, deader than a doornail! I called a repairman. They said it would cost more for the part than what the dryer is worth! I tossed the Fisher Paykel dryer and bought a Maytag. Now, just this week, the washer stopped spinning again. This time, being ECOSMART, I looked online for COMMON PROBLEMS with these models and found that the water pump gets wet from a leak in the washer and rusts and freezes the water pump which in turn blows out the fuse in the control board. My husband took it apart and it was confirmed... The pump is junk and rusted and the CONTROL BOARD is dead. With a 50 cent fuse, it could fix the problem, but NO, Fisher Paykel doesnt tell you that. They want you to spend $185+ for a new control board to fix their POOR DESIGN! Now, we have to fork out more money to replace this junk water pump to avoid paying for a new washer. Guess what? The new pumps have fuses on them to prevent the control board from blowing out. Well, how bout recalling them and fix the design?!! Just a thought! A Fisher Paykel will not be in my house after this washer DIES again! (Oh, Shame on you, Consumer Reports! I went by your recommendation for these models!) ECOSMART? I think not!
I recently bought a Fisher and Paykel frontload dryer at Dormont Appliance store. I like how quick it is with drying and all the different cycles and options this FP dryer has. It is so reliable.
I bought a Fisher & Paykel washing machine 4 years ago and it has broken down for the second time! It gets to the spin cycle and stops! I have read some reviews on here about their washing machines and I wish I had seen them before I bought mine. I spent a lot of money on this and bought it on the recommendation of the salesman. I will never again purchase anything made by Fisher & Paykel!
I bought a Fisher & Paykel washer. It was last year’s model and it was on sale and I like it.
Love our new oven. Works better than other top of the line competitors. Looks sleek too! Best appliance purchase in our new kitchen.
Purchased washer and dryer 4 yrs ago for my new home from Homemakers appliance store. Washer has been doing good but dryer is now broken, lights but will not start. One month ago, had same problem. Called an appliance specialist to fix it said motor was down. 3 days later it started working. Im frustrated. Customer service does not respond to calls either.
Bought Fisher Paykel fridge freezer. Its just over 3 years old. Noticed the inside liner is cracking. Phoned F&P. They admit there is a fault and cant be repaired but all they want to do is sell me a new one at staff rates. I feel this is not satisfactory.
I purchased a Fisher & Paykel two-drawer dishwasher, my first F&P purchase. We had a designer help us redo our kitchen. We have a very tiny kitchen. She suggested it as space saving. The traditional one, the big door practically blocked the entire way; the dishwasher was at the end of the counter and when you open the door, there was hardly any room to walk in the kitchen. The drawers of this F&P dishwasher take up less space when you open them up and when you put dishes in, you don’t block the way to the kitchen. It’s very, very good! We especially like the function of it that you can do half a load at a time. We have a little 7 year old who lives with us and our daughter, and with all of us, a lot of dishes go through there and we don’t run out of dishes anymore, because she does little half loads and they’re ready. It’s very convenient and easy. And the quality, the way the dishes come out, they look very clean, very nice. We’re very happy because besides function, the other things with the space saving and ergonomically, the way it can be standing upright and drop things in, it’s just really nice all around! It’s very quiet as well.
I have been trying for 6 months now to get the correct part for my 2 year gas range, the oven igniter does not work. I have been sent the wrong part 4 times and in my last discussion with their service department (3 weeks ago) I was told they do not make the replacement part I require. I asked them if they are going to provide me with a new replacement range. They said they would get back to me and to date I have heard nothing even though they promised to get back to me the next day. I have sent numerous emails following up and they are ignored. I am now taking them to small claims court to settle the matter. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE BUYS a FISHER PAYKEL PRODUCT. High prices, poor quality and poor service.
My washing machine beeped on Tuesday and I followed the directions in the users manual to try to correct the problem. In the meantime the control panel was burnt out because the drain pump was broken. I called the repairman and he came on the following Tuesday and did not have a drain pump to install because they had just used the last one. I am guessing that there have been a lot of problems with Fisher and Paykel drain pumps. If I would not have tried to correct the problem, I possibly would not have burnt out the control panel. It is costing me $352 to repair the machine. I had ordered a brand new one, the same as what I had and I could have had it delivered on New Years Eve. I slept on it and cancelled the order because I thought I would be saving $300. The repairman said that they have replaced many control panels but Fisher & Paykel have corrected the problem by adding a fuse that will not cause the control panel to burn out. I would have hoped this would have been a product recall and saved a lot of people time and money. I really like my Fisher and Paykel machine but I am disappointed with the product not being recalled if you knew it was faulty. I would hope that I could be reimbursed some of the cost for the repair. The repairman was very knowledgeable and helpful.
We have only had the washer and dryer set since July 2011. The Fisher & Paykel dryer is not producing heat to dry clothes. It will only air dry and that takes hours for just 1 load... so much for energy efficient. My warranty expired last month.
My Fisher & Paykel dual fuel (gas top/electric oven) is by far the worst appliance I have ever purchased. From day one after the installation, the oven wouldnt work properly because of, what I later learned, is a PLASTIC lock which came broken. Without this lock, the sensor believes that the oven door is open and the oven wont work correctly. According to the technician, this lock breaks frequently, and he mentions he doesnt understand why a piece so important is made of plastic. The technician comes back with the part to fix the issue, but when he puts the oven all back together, it seemed that the oven door was no longer centered in place. He said that it should not be a problem, after all, the oven was now working. Although I thought it was a very poor customer service response for an appliance so expensive, I decided to bite the bullet, as I had spent too long without an oven. Despite my compromise, a week after this repair the door completely sunk to one side. As a result, the oven was again non-operational. Another technician comes, this time to tell me that the door hinge had an issue. He didnt have the spare part, so I go another month without an oven.At the day scheduled for the technician to come to install the new hinge, he missed the appointment, allegedly because previous appointments that ran late. So now I have at least 3 more weeks with no oven until he can come again. After weeks, the technician is back. He installs the new hinge, and of course, the door is again not centered. The oven doesnt work properly, because, without a centered door, the locking mechanism doesnt work well. Interestingly enough, he insists that everything is fine, and tells me that the lock is only used for the oven self-clean function, which I should never use because everyone who uses it requests a repair right after due to oven parts that get burned and makes the oven malfunction.Interesting to know that the oven is even worse than I thought, and that the self-clean feature is unusable. But back to my case, even though the lock is not essential, it affects how the door open and closes, and the oven does not work well without everything centered and in place. His answer: I cant do anything about it. Now I call Fisher & Paykel to complain, and their solution? To send another technician. Im now nearly one year without an oven. I simply cant bake anything. So my advice to all of you considering to buy a Fisher & Paykel appliance, believe the bad reviews and stay away from it. I was one of those who thought no, it cant be that poorly made at such a high price tag. Well, it is, and its customer service is just as bad.
Our Fisher & Paykel dishwasher drawers came in the house when we bought it and we havent replaced them yet. We do have problems with it. Sometimes the lid does not like to open and close correctly. We had a repairman come out and showed us what to do to try and remedy that. And then the top one for some reason will go all the way through the cycle when its on the short cycle but when its on the regular cycle, it stops halfway through. Maybe if they’re brand new, everything would be working okay, but this unit is probably about 8 to 10 years old.
I have had my Fisher Paykel Dishwasher for about 10 years. I absolutely love the concept of two drawers for washing dishes since I always have an empty washer that I can load. But I have to admit I have not been 100% satisfied with the unit. The top washer has always had issues and I have had it serviced almost every year for the last 10 years. Most of the time it will beep and stop running through the cycle for no reason. And even when it does run through the cycle, some of the dishes will need to be run again. It is not always super clean as I would expect from a good dishwasher. I am told that the newer models do not have the computer at the bottom of both drawers, which causes it to short circuit a lot. I hope the newer models are better at cleaning the dishes than mine is.
We own a Fisher Paykel refrigerator and a washer and dryer. I love those appliances. First of all, I live in a condo. Were a small family so we dont have a big house. What I like most is that those appliances are compact. Theyre not small. My refrigerator is probably the biggest refrigerator that still fits in my kitchen. Its just so nicely designed that it fits into the narrowest spaces to put it in and at the same time it has so many space inside that Im really happy with it. The same about my two other appliances that are a washer and dryer. Theyre separate. Theyre economical. I really love how my clothes look like. But theyre fairly new. I just bought them all this year so I dont know how they would behave in the future. The only thing is when I need a spare part, its really tough to find one.
About 15 years ago, I bought a washer and dryer. Id been looking at a different brand but I tried the Fisher & Paykel. I thoroughly enjoyed it for 15 years. Back in January I had to give up that set and bought a brand new set of Fisher & Paykel. I am totally dissatisfied with the two new units. The washing machine ties the clothes in knots and its very hard on them. Its only been in use now for a little over a month and the dryer drum is already starting to make some noises.
My dryer was going and I recognized it and it was quite old. So rather than putting money into repairing it, I went to a local appliance center here in North Canton thats well known and well respected and they introduced me to the Fisher & Paykel line. I bought a F&P because the warranty was better than everyone else and it has a good reputation... Its a wonderful machine. Its quiet, its efficient and it does a good job!
I have a washer and dryer set that I have had for a few years. It has not been anything but trouble since I have had them. The washer has been worked on twice and once the repairman left off a hose and water filled my floor and messed up some of my flooring. Then the dryer had been worked on two or three times and right now it sounds like the whole drum is about to come out. I am tired of having to call a repairman to take care of problems. I tried to tell the people that I bought it from that I thought it was a lemon from the get go, because I had not had it maybe 1 month when it had to be worked on the first time. I would not recommend anyone to buy your products, because I have been very disappointed with your products. I still say that I have a lemon and that I should have been given another one in the beginning. That is what happens when you buy a lemon automobile. Appliances cost too much these days to have to keep having them repaired, because the average person nowadays have been cut back in their pay checks and are not able to afford repair bills.
I saw Fisher & Paykel advertised on television. We didnt actually go looking for that make at the time. It was just one that wed come across. It was about what we were after, on sale. But we had looked at them before up in London. We purchased a refrigerator. It didnt start out very good. When we bought it, they showed us a small pinhole dent in the front door which we thought was fine, and theyd reduced the price. When it arrived here, it seemed to have a couple of dents that we hadnt seen before in it. We dont know whether wed missed them or they happened when they were bringing them down. But they brought it in and the controls wouldnt work. It would work as a refrigerator but you couldnt control anything. So we complained to the place where we bought it, and they werent allowed to service it for the first year. We had to get some service people out of St. Thomas. They were good, checked it out, and it wouldnt work. They had to order a new front panel control unit and it took about 2 or 3 weeks. They got it here, plugged it in, and it has worked fine since. The appliance is good once it was operational but the place where we bought it, we wouldnt set foot in the door again because we didnt get very good service.
The refrigerator is noisy, the doors keep breaking, the stainless steel scratches and bumps very easily. Same with the ice machine, broke within a short period. Not impressed with this refrigerator.
Before ordering, please check that the delivery company will be able to get the appliance in your kitchen. I ordered an American fridge freezer, but when it arrived they could not get it into my kitchen. The delivery boys were lovely and they said they could probably get it in, if the doors and drawer were removed, but they could not find a way to remove the drawer. I called Fisher and Paykel and they could not help either and suggested that I just took doorstep delivery and work the rest out for myself! Very disappointing, so to avoid disappointment yourselves, please check this out before you order. Incidentally, I live in a detached house with standard size openings.
The Fisher Paykel refrigerator model E522B is made with junk plastic parts that continue to break, and we are not rough on our appliances, as we are senior citizens, and previously owned a Frigidaire refrigerator, that lasted us over 25 years without one repair. However, in one year this Fisher Paykel refrigerator has had the following parts replaced: the rear caster wheels (broken on delivery), the plastic cover on the freezer door (broken when replacing the stripped freezer door handle), the plastic door closer under the door hinge has broken twice now, and a foam insulation kit was installed to help reduce the popping noises from the compressor. F&P customer service takes its good old time in responding to online inquiries about their products, and makes you jump through hoops, before they respond. They dont believe you, even after you register the product online with them, and inform them of how many times the unit was serviced as they still ask for proof (now want photos and receipts), when something breaks. Dont they have a computer system that logs the reimbursements they have made to service repair companies on their products? This will be our last purchase of New Zealand made junk as they seem to have no pride with craftsmanship!
Bought my Fisher Paykel through Lowes without seeing it and am very happy with features. Well organized and holds more than my same size Whirlpool. Can I get a discount on gas stove and dishwasher from Fisher Paykel?
Its quiet, it cleans the dishes, it does its job. Its lost its WOW factor on looks. The New Dish Drawer is plain, boring, no style, no elegance, not like my previous Fisher and Paykel Dish Drawer.
This dishwasher has two separate sections, in other words it is two small dishwashers in one. Cleaning quality is very good; however, it is difficult to load the way the racks are positioned. But, I can get four wine glasses with stems to hang in a stable position in each washing section.
This is a follow-up to the review I wrote on 6-15-13. I sent F&P (Lisette **) an email early, early Saturday morning, like 4:00 a.m. her time. I received an out-of-office reply that she would be out of the office for a couple of more days, so I wasnt hopeful that I would hear back soon. BUT GUESS WHAT? She emailed me back at 5:30 a.m. her time - just 90 minutes later - letting me know that she has asked someone to call me and get things going, and that it would be covered under warranty. One hour later someone from F&Ps NEW ZEALAND office called and got things set up for us! And it is now Monday morning and the service guy is here fixing the washer. So that is indeed terrific service again from F&P that we have received on a machine that has had several service calls. It is outside of the warranty period, but I am glad that they are standing by their product since there were obviously some design problems with the F&P washers that Lowes pushed in 2008 and 2009. Thanks Lisette and F&P!!!
On 3/24, we purchased a Fisher & Paykel refrigerator from Lowes. We had the refrigerator delivered on 4/6. The refrigerator worked for only two weeks when the power went out completely. We called F&P on 4/20 (the day it went out) and we were referred to a local authorized service provider. We called the the company they recommended and were not able to schedule service until 4/24. The technician came out and found that the circuit board was bad. How can a refrigerator that is only two weeks old have a bad circuit board? The technician ordered a new circuit board on 4/25. It took a week for the part to arrive and he came to install the new circuit board on 5/4.Within a few hours of the technician leaving, we noticed an F11 error, which has something to do with a fan. We noticed, at that time, that the refrigerator was not cooling, although the freezer seemed to be working. We called the technician back and were not able to schedule another visit until 5/9. By the time the technician comes on 5/9, we will be 19 days with no refrigerator. It is simply not acceptable for a new appliance to work for only two weeks. We paid $2,000 for this refrigerator and it has been broken for longer than it actually worked. I called customer service on 5/4 and explained everything that has occurred. I was offered a 3-month extension of the warranty. How does that fix the problem? Why would I want to extend a warranty on something that doesnt even work? I was put on hold to speak with a supervisor and coincidentally none were available. At that point, the representative told me that she looked over my file again and could offer to extend my warranty an extra six months. This is simply not a solution. How does extending the warranty make up for not having a working refrigerator for longer than having a working one, throwing away all of the food we had in the refrigerator, and having to eat every meal out for three weeks? I told the representative that this was not acceptable and I still wanted to speak with a supervisor. So, now my file has been expedited, and she said I should get a call from a supervisor on Monday (5/7). I hope I do. This refrigerator is clearly a lemon and should be considered DOA (dead on arrival). We should be sent a new refrigerator and receive a credit for our loss of use for three weeks.
Fisher-Paykel washer, replaced the pump twice. Works great after more than 10 years. Price has gone up, I would look to other brands for a replacement though. This washer is easy to repair and very reliable. I have replaced the agitator once, about $100, did it myself. The design lends itself to easy repair by the owner. I would recommend the deep clean cycle with washing soda at least once per month for optimally clean clothes. Just program the clean cycle, dump in the washing soda and turn it on.
I purchased a washer and dryer set on 9/17/08 with some life insurance money that was left to me by my father. The sales person stated that there was a 2-year warranty. I figured that if anything happens to a $1700 set in two years, the company/item is not any good. Well, close to that time I never received anything about maybe purchasing an extended warranty (as Sears always calls). Now on 9/27/11, my washer began to not wash. A little water began leaking from the front of the washer (underneath). I didnt think much of it as I work 60 hours a week and did not have time to call. But now the motor control in the display area is fried. And the people that Fisher Paykel recommended charged me $80 to come out (mind you, they never stated that the service call was that much) and tell me that it was gonna cost me another $485 for a $950+ washer. I thought, Um, no thanks. So I pulled apart and all I need is that part. I cannot find it anywhere other than the Fisher Paykel website and it is a $182+ rip-off! I will not purchase another Fisher Paykel item even if they are discounted to $1.
I received the replacement lid sent in response to my comment submitted to ConsumerAffairs.com on 3/11/2012. The lid fits perfectly and matches the color perfectly, any my washer now looks as well as it operates!! The response from Fisher Paykel was very prompt and exceeded my expectations.Thank you so much. Adam.
We had a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher before and we purchased a new one because it had two drawers. It seems quieter than the old one. We had a lot of trouble with the old one. This one seems to be working fine and is better.
My friend’s husband is an engineer and told me they bought a Fisher & Paykel because her husband had done some research and said that they had the fewest moving parts of any washing machine. And fewer moving parts is a good thing. I needed a washing machine, so I bought one and that was four or five years ago, and I’m pleased with it. I just got the dryer in August and I already had to have a new heating element put in. I don’t know if it’s the dryer’s problem or if it’s my ductwork’s problem but the outside vent is getting clogged up and I never had that before. But that doesn’t seem like it could be the dryer’s problem and we haven’t figured out what it is because I don’t think there’s a lot of lint in the lint screen. And so I can’t understand how the lint can bypass the lint screen and go out the outside vent. They need to send a repairman. As far as how they look, they’re fine. In price, they’re all in the same ballpark. And as far as performance, I don’t know because I haven’t tried that many others. I used to be a Whirlpool customer and I had wonderful luck with Whirlpool. But then I bought an Amana washer and dryer in 2004 and I had to replace the washing machine with the Fisher & Paykel, and then I just replaced the dryer. The dryer issue hasn’t been resolved yet but we are quite pleased with our Fisher & Paykel washing machine.
I had an issue with my Fisher & Paykel stove oven door not fully closing and providing a good tight seal. I initiated a service request under my warranty in the middle of May 2017. As of today... July 7, 2017, I have not had a service call initiated by the company. They sent me the repair parts but will not schedule a service call today. Talked to the region rep for the company numerous times on the phone only to leave me frustrated to no end. I have at this point given up on getting any satisfaction with this issue. BUYER BEWARE!
My old refrigerator was failing. I had a refrigerator Sub-Zero that was built in so I started shopping for something that would fit and I went to Fisher&Paykel’s website trying to look for something similar in size and that was one of the ones I felt would fit my area better. Ive never heard of Fisher & Paykel before but I have a nephew that did and lives close to me. I knew he sells appliances so I contacted him. He told me that he had been selling appliances for over 10 years and he was very satisfied with Fisher & Paykel so I purchased my refrigerator from them. I like the arrangement and I like the stainless steel that they put on the exterior because I find its easy to clean. It’s a great product.
Fisher Paykel Eco Washer, I am looking at replacing the water pump for the third time. I had also replaced the control board. My repair costs now exceed the purchase cost of the washer. I also have a Fisher Paykel refrigerator that had needed service, once in warranty and once out of warranty. Time to go back to the old school appliances. This brand should stay down under.
We purchased a full set of 4 appliances along with extended warranties for a kitchen renovation in 2016. After 5 years, when warranties had expired, only the refrigerator remains in good working order and we love it. The dishwasher never did a very good cleaning job and we had it serviced. (Do NOT purchase the 2 drawer model!) The microwave oven stopped without any warning because the main PCB and line conditioner needed replacement. The interlock assembly on the door also had a fair amount of play in it. Then the induction range slowed down to only 2 working elements until the inverter board completely stopped rendering the cooktop completely unusable. The replacement piece cost was $1800 pre-tax and installation with a 30 DAY warranty! The oven cavity has turned off during use a couple of times which I consider a warning. Fisher and Paykel was unresponsive to communication so I will never purchase or recommend their product in the future.
We purchased Fisher Paykel Top Loading washer and dryer in 2007 from Lowes. Along with the 1-year warranty, we bought the 4-year extended warranty. The lids are plastic and cracked! Lowes warrantied three replacement lids for the washer and three lids for the dryer. They would not warranty more than three per appliance. Fisher Paykel stated not to use stain remover on our laundry as it affects the plastic in the lid. Our warranty ran out on 11/24 and on 11/25, the dryer bearings went bad. I really thought appliances lasted longer. Its very disappointing especially for the money we paid.
In most ways, this range is just what we hoped it would be, but the noisy fan that blows oven-cooling air across the burners whenever the ovens are heated over 300 degrees leaves us dissatisfied with this range. We have an open kitchen/dining/living room and the fan noise makes us avoid using the ovens if we have guests or just want a quiet evening. The good points for this range are many, however. We love the griddle and use it almost daily. It has even heat and very sensitive temperature control. Likewise, the burners are very nice. The simmer is just wonderful, just warm enough to keep a sauce warm but not hot enough to burn. The high range heats water very fast cutting the time for heating pasta water or bringing canning water up to temperature. Cleanup of both the griddle and burners is easy with the sealed cooktop. The grates are heavy and secure. Its easy to slide heavy pots across the cooktop. We bought a two-oven model for big family gatherings, like holidays. It is so disappointing that they are so noisy. So, overall, we really can not say we are satisfied, although we feel that the range is well made and otherwise well-designed.
We bought this top load washer after being told it was one of the best and it is literally destroying our clothing. Even brand new clothes after one wash come out with rips, tears, and holes. It is absolutely unacceptable for a washing machine to destroy the clothes it is supposed to be cleaning.
We bought a Fisher Paykel washer/dryer set in 2009 for our new house. The dryer model number is DE27CW1. We had a six year warranty and used one call for the washer. In 2019 the dryer would fail to dry clothes. We cleaned the vent pathway and lint buildup in the front of the unit, pressed reset and we were good to go until a load of towels didn’t dry and nothing after that. Removed the front panel, pressed reset again and my husband noted that the heating element was red hot even though the unit wasn’t drying. After receiving an incorrect part from Sears Direct we decided to be grateful we didn’t have a fire and purchased a Miele set. We have pictures of the red hot heating element. There is information on the web about a lawsuit by a family in Washington State who had a fire with their Fisher Paykel dryer. Why wasn’t the Fisher Paykel dryer recalled?
I bought this washer (Fisher & Paykel Washing Machine) as a highly recommended low maintenance machine. At the least, I am dissatisfied; at the most, angry. I am retired and live on a fixed income. I did research myself as to possible causes of the constant drip of 6 inches of hot water into the tub and the low level screeching of the tub as it spins. As for repair, I was only able to find one resource for a possible part that caused the dripping. When I called, I was treated rudely and they refused to help me and stated Id have to pay a large fee just to have it diagnosed. So, I asked what the charge would be if it was found to need a hot water valve leaking and if the screeching was a bad bearing. I was told the bearings never go bad and that I didnt know anything. Then, the woman from the shop hung up! I love being treated badly! Your customer service is nasty and non-existent!
As far as the product itself, weve had a great experience with the refrigerator. My biggest issue is with the water filter. It is suggested that you replace the water filter every 6 months. The filters are $50. I find that to be highway robbery. Its absurd to buy a refrigerator and then have to buy new water filters every 6 months. Theres no doubt you could make a filter that lasts longer than that and thats less expensive. I would venture to guess the profit margin on the filter is greater than on the refrigerator. Other than that, my experience has been great. I just feel taken advantage of with respect to the filter.
The inside of the glass door was broken for no apparent reason, the parts department are now charging £250 for the privilege of getting a new glass that fits. This oven does not get a lot of use. In terms of size its great but I really resent paying so much for a spare part...15% of the purchase price doesnt seem reasonable to me. The service department are given the horrid job of dealing with these issues with no flexibility in how they handle them. The dishwasher drawer is really not a good idea for anyone who has anything other than mugs and buffet size dinner plates. Be aware that the overall size of this will push your worktop higher that may expect. It has had a rather unfortunate knock on effect for me in terms of the aesthetic, but the main point is it doesnt do the job its supposed to. Great idea... But the result is not good.
Looks great - love the look in the kitchen. Washes the dishes ok but have to make sure nothing blocks the washing arm which is sometimes hard to know until you open the door at the end of the cycle. Biggest complaint is that the machine is SO loud. I am so disappointed that I purchased the unit and would love to replace with a quieter model.
I bought a FP washer and dryer. The washer had a valve go bad after a few years leaking water and costing me a lot to fix it. The dryer opened during a cycle and spit my clothes out on the motor a little over 3 years old. I was told the repairman never had one apart and did not go to FP repair school. That means I would have to pay him to practice on my dryer. I also thought I was buying a unit that would last for several years. I am waiting to hear from FP and the store I bought it from if there is some type of compensation. I am very disappointed and would talk to anyone concerning my experience, even FP if they would listen.
F&P Washer model # wa37t26gw2 - I bought this washing machine from a local Sears in Newton, KS. I have had it now for three years and two months. My husband was washing clothes the other night and went out into the laundry room and the whole room was filled with white stinky smoke. The whole entire board of the machine is burned up. Im just not satisfied with a washer lasting only three years before I have a major problem. I just wanted you to know!
I like my Fisher & Paykel refrigerator and dishwasher. Theyre very good. What I dont like about them is the price but Im happy with the products. I have no problems but they are more expensive. The look is nice and everything is nice.
I have a bottom mount freezer drawer that cannot open but a few inches. Getting through to customer service has been fraught with games of long hold times, getting disconnected when I ask for a supervisor or info on my repair. As I am in the United States, there is no local customer service. All calls are routed to New Zealand. Emails are ignored. My call records get lost. Nothing on the record anymore. We have no log of your inquiry. Calls to their authorized local repair company go unanswered. A second local company warned me that it would a long time until it can get fixed because they too cannot get through to F&P or their techs or get a hold of the parts. Complete frustration. After reading only some of the reviews here, it seems to be a common complaint. Nice looking product but it means absolutely nothing if it cannot function. No company is perfect and I expect hiccups but the run-around here is incredible. My only recourse is to start recording my conversations with the false promises I am given along with posting a review video on social media showing the drawer problems. My hope is to discourage anyone from buying an F&P appliance as the service when needed (and it will be needed) is absolute garbage. It should not be this difficult to get adequate service.
I am very happy with my new dishwasher! The drawers are so much easier to use than the pull out racks on my old one. The wheels were always popping off or coming off the track. No problems now! The bottom drawer is perfect for smaller loads. No more waiting for more dirty dishes to make a load. Its quiet and has a setting for fast for a quick run. I love it!
My dryer runs way too long and does not dry clothing. The dryer lint bucket does not perform properly. The lint bucket has to be removed, then a screw taken out of a cover plate so you can clean the lint off of the screen.
I am very pleased with both my Fisher Paykel washer and dryer. I purchased my washer 5 years ago and love it. So when my old dryer went out, I went with the Fisher Paykel dryer. I am very pleased with this dryer. It is very efficient and does a great job with anything you put in it. I recommend them both to everyone. Great product!!!
I purchased a Fisher & Paykel dryer in Dec 2010. Less than a year later, it would not heat. It has been in for repair twice. I have since had to reset the thing for every load of clothes. Now, it will not even dry a load after resetting it, back at the repair shop. I will never buy another Fisher & Paykel product.
First washer purchased in 2001 had problem going from wash cycle to rinse in 2006. We tried contacting Fisher & Paykel and got no response, no support, and no help! We replaced a diverter valve, and then a circuit board, only to have wasted our money. We wrote a formal letter to F & P Customer Care USA (Irvine, CA) on Sept 21, 2007 letting F & P know that the diverter valve and circuit board only lasted 9 months before it repeated. No response was ever received from F & P Customer Care USA. That pretty sums up the amount of support/customer care you will receive. We liked the technology; and despite the lack of support, customer service, or response, we bought a GW12 and disposed of our six-year-old GWll. No problem with our GW12 from 2007 until 2013. Now, our GW12 is having the same problem! It appears that both of our Fisher & Paykel washers only have a six-year life cycle. I will write another formal letter to Fisher & Paykel Customer Care USA, but I do not expect I will ever hear from Fisher & Paykel. From my perspective, Fisher & Paykel washers have a planned obsolescence of six years, and clearly they lack an infrastructure for support or customer service in the USA. I would recommend that you only buy their products if you like changing your major appliances out frequently. If you do purchase Fisher & Paykel products in the USA, then expect to be on your own with no support or any customer service. One last item, the letters to FP Consumer Customer Care USA contained two emails for response and one mobile phone number. It is on 24/7, 365 days a year!
Weve had a Fisher and Paykel washing machine for 12 years. Its durable and the drying cycle, spin cycle is exceptionally good. We have called several times for service and its lacking. We had to go through the store that we bought it from. They were unsure of just how the service was going to be. They gave the names but I dont think they really knew what happens beyond that. Its a typical retailer, you get them on the phone; say you got some service problem and thats probably the last thing they want to hear. I like the brand. I would definitely recommend that particular product. As far as service wise, I think they have a long way to go in making people feel good about the service.
If you are buying based on reputation dont bother with Fisher & Paykel! On Jan 18 (2016) I bought a dryer (DE6060G1) and within a week the heat valve had broken. Thankfully 2nds World replaced the machine the next day. 6 weeks later and again, low and behold the same problem occurred. Unfortunately I had to use Fisher & Paykel customer service and what a nightmare! It would have been easier to buy a different brand than put up with the crap they delved out.According F & P as I use the dryer everyday its my fault (and no wonder!) the machine broke down! (that was repeated today when I spoke to the company again). Speaking to the lovely technician this problem is happening again and again with this model. But the company will not replace it with more reliable product (the proceeding one DE45F56) but will continue to send out what appears to be a technically faulty machine. Whats worse is that its going to take two weeks to get the machine repaired. WHY? My advice go for older model or even better go for a different brand all together, its so disappointing!
We spent 3 times as much for a trendy looking SS Double drawer dishwasher. We had the service people out 3 times the first year. He spent hours at a time on the phone to Tech support in New Zealand. Never got the bottom drawer from leaking. Subsequently it would trip a wet switch and would not restart until it completely dried internally. Finally Fisher Paykel offered a brand new later improved model. The catch was we had to pay freight since local distributor quit handling the brand. This cost $395.00 for shipping. Or as much as a mid range Whirlpool. It malfunctioned within 2 years. Local service tech got Fisher Paykel Tech support on the phone. Diagnosed as bad hot plate. Spent $200.00 to put new on in.Didnt fix problem. Further inspection showed it was a burned main circuit board. And now a burned wiring harness. I spoke to customer care about my issues. They have said document and possibly theyll do something? That is still uncertain. Ill repost if something positive comes out.
7/28/14 I have not been able to find any good reviews of this product, so I'm going to do my best to give one to help others as they consider buying this fridge. I know people want to know how a product lasts over time, so I'll do my best to remember to keep updating this review. As of today, the fridge has been up and running for 2 days. It is important to note that our fridge is a B-stock unit (was returned by someone, but never used. They listed the reason as "damaged packaging"). We did not buy through this website. THE BACKSTORY Our previous fridge was a big 36" standard depth white GE side-to-side that someone gave us for free. We knew it was only a temporary solution, and started saving for its replacement for when it would die on us. The rest of our kitchen appliances were stainless, so we were looking forward to the day our big white fridge kicked the bucket so we could have a more uniform look. Yesterday, we got home from a trip and our fridge was making loud and scary noises that wouldn't stop. We saw this as the perfect excuse to make the switch. I had heard of Fisher and Paykel before, and was told they were a good solution for a long-lasting fridge without all the unnecessary bells and whistles (that end up breaking and causing service calls down the road). I also thought this was the most elegant looking out of all of its competitors. I like the simple, flat look of this unit. I headed over to our closest appliance outlet store and found a B-stock unit that was never used (still had the plastic wrap), but had a dent in the back. We saved a thousand dollars on this unit because of a dent nobody would ever see. Score! INSTALLATION I took it home in my van and let it stand for 8 hours before turning it on (guy at store said this was important to do so all the liquids in the compressor could settle into place after transporting it on its back - better safe than sorry). During that time, I installed the included water filter and hoses to the fridge. It comes with everything you need except the piece that actually taps into your water line. Since we already had that from our previous fridge, this was a breeze. No need to call a plumber. The instruction manual was very easy to follow on installation of water components. I am the least handy guy you could know, so trust me when I say this was easy! During the time the fridge sat unplugged, I also wiped down the shelves and bins, took off the plastic wrap, and read the instruction manual. I HIGHLY recommend reading the manual. There are so many features in this fridge that aren't highlighted on the companies website that I never would have known about had I not read the manual. I'll go into more detail in the "Features" Section of this review. After the 8 hours, I plugged the fridge in and let it get to its proper temperature (about 2 hours). I used this time to adjust the front legs (it is supposed to be raised up 1/2" higher in the front than the back for ease of door use). During this time, the exterior sides and back of the unit got HOT! Like, I'm afraid this thing is going to explode, hot. Thankfully after reaching its desired interior temps, the exterior cooled off substantially. Today, it isn't even warm. I made sure to run all the air pockets out of the water line, and discarded the first few batches of ice as instructed. FEATURES First of all, keep in mind that we were previously using a big, standard depth side-by-side before, and have never had a counter-depth fridge, or one with a freezer on the bottom. Having made the transition, it is clear that these fridges are not for everyone. I'll try to explain in more detail as I go. - Counter-Depth: This opened up our kitchen far beyond what we were expecting. I know its only a few inches shallower, but it made a huge difference for us. Our kitchen just got bigger and brighter! Our fridge is no longer the elephant in the room. This fridge looks great, but blends in. It does come with some trade offs. The depth of storage in the fridge is very shallow. For example, I don't see the ability to fit a large pizza box in the fridge or the freezer (untested theory). - Doors: I've been to some peoples houses where their french doors were really hard to either open or close. These open with no problem, and close even easier. The freezer door is a bit harder to open than the fridge doors, but not difficult by any stretch. - Hidden top hinges: I love how the top hinges are covered in the front. It is a small attention to detail which really makes this thing look clean and sharp. It also makes cleaning the top of the fridge so much easier! - Water dispenser: Some people may not like that this doesn't have a door ice dispenser (ice is dispensed in a bin in the freezer). It is perfect for us, I love the shallow water chamber that doesn't cut into storage space on the inside door. It also is easier to clean, and you can fill any size container without worrying if it will fit. For us, the water comes out fast, and fills things up quickly. People who like to set a glass in the water cavity and walk away while it fills up will not like this feature. It is too shallow to set a glass in, you will need to hold it the entire time. Not a problem for us. - Shelving: This model has 3 shelves (2 of which are height adjustable). These shelves go across the full width of the fridge. Some of this units competitors have adjustable shelves that only go halfway for more customization, but in my opinion that is just more breakable pieces, and it cuts into the amount of things you can store. The full-width shelves work perfectly for our needs. Also, many competitors' fridges have white plastic spill proofing around the edges of their shelves. In my opinion, this makes a fridge look cheap and flimsy. The ActiveSmart fridge has beautiful brushed metal spill proofing, it looks so much more elegant and uniform. Sounds like a small thing, but it is one of my favorite features! - Door Storage: Because of the shallow water dispenser, you get full storage on both doors. This increases the storage like no other. There are large compartments with dividers for gallon sized jugs and tall items. At the top of each french door, there is a compartment with a lid for butters or cheeses. Our previous fridge had one of these compartments with a rounded lid, it really limited storage, but these have a squared off lid that allows you to stack items without worrying about closing the lid. My biggest complaint of this fridge is that these lids don't stay open when you lift them. So you need one hand to hold the lid open, and another to grab whatever is inside. It may sound negligible, but i'm usually holding something else when I need something from these compartments. Hopefully I'll get used to it. As of right now, it's really annoying. - Wine/Bottle holders: There really isn't a place in this fridge where you would be able to store a wine bottle standing up other than the doors, so they included 4 horizontal holders that clip to the back of every shelf. These holders also stack upon another so if you don't have 4 bottles to hold, they don't take up a lot of room. Very thoughtful feature. If you insist on storing your wine or tall bottled drinks standing up, you may not like this fridge. - REMOVABLE BINS!: This is my very favorite feature of this fridge. All drawers in the fridge and freezer are actually pull out shelves with clear bins sitting on top. This is so useful for so many reasons. Instead of shuffling through the vegetables or fruits to find what you are looking for with the fridge doors open, you can just pull out the desired bin and take it to the counter, find what you need and easily put it back. The same is true for meats/cheese bins, frozen drawers, and the ice bin. Saves tons of energy. Also, it makes cleaning drawers out a breeze. Just pull it out, rinse the bin in the sink, and dry out. I love this feature! - Crisper drawers: Like most fridges, this has separate drawers for fruits and vegetables with a separate humidity setting for each. Keep in mind, you need to open both french doors to pull out the drawer. Even though there are two separate sections, the full drawer they share takes up the full width of the fridge. People who only want to open one door and pull out fruits or veggies will not like this fridge. - Meats and Cheese Drawers: I like that there are two separate sections for these. We use the left one for lunch meat and cheeses, and the right one for other meats (steak, beef, fish, etc...). It is especially nice to use one of these as a dedicated meat thawing section without worry of any juices finding their way to other items in the fridge. Again, you need to open both french doors to access these compartments. - Lighting: Our previous fridge had a light in the top back center. If we had anything in front of it (which was always), it would darken the rest of the fridge, making it difficult to see other items throughout. This fridge has a strip of LED lighting at the top front of the unit which allow for full illumination of the entire contents of the fridge no matter how you have your food arranged. Very nice touch! There are no lights on the doors, but enough spills from the inside of the fridge that you will be able to make out what you need even in the middle of the night. - Ice machine: Since this is only our 2nd day, all I can say is it works as advertised so far. I know the ice machine is usually the biggest issue people have with any fridge, so I'll keep my eye on it and let you know if anything weird happens over time. The default setup is that in the freezer, there is a top shelf with 2 big bins across the width. In the left big bin, there is a smaller one that takes up half the width of that bin, and that is the ice bin. If you require more ice, you can just remove the smaller bin and let the ice dispense into the bigger bin. With either bin, it is supposed to stop producing ice when it is full. If you need even more ice, you can fill up the big bin on the left, switch it with the right bin, and fill up that one too. Lots of versatility, and the removable bins are great if you are entertaining! - Freezer: The freezer has a top shelf that pulls out with the ice bin, plus a bin and a half of storage for other things. Then there is a large cavity below for the storage of everything else. If you are a person who usually packs out your freezer of your current fridge, I don't think you will enjoy a counter-depth freezer-on-the bottom model. This is definitely more for the person who has a larger ratio of fresh food to frozen food. I can easily see people needing to dig around the lower cavity if they over fill it. For our family, we don't need much freezer space, so it works perfect for us so far. - Noise: As of right now, there is a constant hum that is about the volume of somebody whispering softly. It is audible, but not something you can hear unless you are in the kitchen. I'm not sure if this will always hum, or if it is just because we haven't filled up our ice bin to the top yet, and the ice machine is constantly working. I'll update the review when we find out. - ActiveSmart Tech: I don't really know what it is, other than it's supposed to do a good job of keeping your food cold. Mission accomplished so far. - Other features: Sabbath mode, open door alarm (90 seconds for fridge, 60 seconds for freezer), ability to turn off open door alarm (for cleaning), water dispenser lock (for cleaning or curious kids), ice bin on/off, fast ice, temperature controls, bottle chill function (allows you to chill a beverage quickly in freezer, and will sound alarm when it is done), fast freeze (for quick freezing of fresh food), water filter replacement indicator, lock fridge controls (for cleaning) and others I'm sure I'm forgetting. Fridge controls are located inside the fridge. We have the drawer version of the dishwasher and I am unimpressed with the performance. I have experimented with different dishwasher soaps, loading methods, rinse/wash cycles but I simply cannot get my dishes clean. I have had an ancient dishwasher previously with no issues; switched to this brand and it leaves food particles on dishes, cloudiness on my glasses and grease sitting in the bottom of the unit. I wash the dishes off before putting them in, but no improvement. The wash cycle also takes over 2 hrs which is impractical for the smaller apartment unit that is designed to run frequently with small loads.
Great equipment. This is the 2nd F-P dryer we have purchased! We are a totally satisfied customer.
A few short years ago I bought a new F&P fridge. About 12 months outside warranty it stopped working. The technician told me the failure was so serious it would be cheaper for me to buy a new fridge. Which I did. Foolishly I bought another F&P (I was still laboring under the delusion it was a good brand.) That fridge stopped working three months outside the warranty period. The technician (from F&P) tried to fix it once and failed. Tried a second time and failed. By this time I had been without a fridge for days. He then tells me he will have to send way for parts and that might take a few days. In the same breath he tells me hes not quite sure whats wrong with the fridge. Could be the compressor as well. I told him to forget the whole thing. I bought a new fridge. You can bet it was not a Fisher and Paykel. (Both fridges only ever had light use by the way.) Caveat emptor..
The Fisher and Paykel refrigerator is the only thing that could fit in to my area in the house. What used to be in there was a 27 inch ref. And the ones theyre making now are 28-1/2 inch deep and larger. This was the same depth it. We like the bottom freezer feature of this refrigerator. The only negative thing is this one does not have a deli drawer unlike our old refrigerator.
Phenomenal service from F&P - We purchased a F&P Ecosmart washing machine from Lowe’s in August 2008 at the salespersons behest. We didnt purchase the store warranty as our previous Amana washing machine lasted for 13 years. A few months before the 2-year manufacturers warranty expired, the washing machine stopped working. We contacted F&P and they quickly had it fixed at their expense with a pump replacement. Well, it happened again this week, only now its four years from date of purchase and we have no warranty. So last night, I was surfing the web about problems with these machines and came across this site. I thought wed just be stuck with a lemon since there are so many complaints, so we had resolved to just get rid of the machine and buy another brand instead of having anyone try to fix it. But in reviewing this site, I saw someone from F&P posting to every complaint, apologizing to the customer and giving a phone number to call. So I called the number last night and left a voicemail, not really expecting to hear from anyone. Well, someone from F&P (Lisette) called me back first thing this morning! And less than four hours after speaking with her, I am sitting here at home listening to the sound of my working washing machine again! She sent someone out at F&Ps expense. He replaced the defective pump with a newly designed pump that he assured me should last a very, very long time. He said we shouldnt have any more problems with it at all. So I am quite amazed at F&Ps quick and caring response! So even though we would do a lot more research before buying another F&P machine, I can personally testify that at least they stand behind the problems their machines have! Id like to think that an American company wouldve done the same, but something tells me otherwise. Thank you very much Lisette!
I fell in love with it when I saw it. I took it home and everything was good. Tech came out and fixed the dryer and the washer within my 2-year warranty. The warranty ran out and the dryer tore up again. Tech came and repaired it, costing me around $150.00. Now, the washer does not work again and I am so upset. I thought that I had the perfect set and I was mistaken. I didn’t even mind paying more for it. I should have gotten a different brand that was cheaper but would have lasted longer. I feel like every year, it tears up and I have to pay for it to be replaced. I really wanted these to last.
I purchased the EcoSmart washing machine from Sears 2.5 years ago. The water pump/drain malfunctioned causing the electronics to short out. After consulting with a repairman, I was informed that the pump will be $200 plus $160 for the electronic portion, add another $50 for taxes and shipping and at least $100 for labor. Of course, the warranty is no longer applicable and apparently this problem is very consistent with other users. After reading the other reviews, I realize how bad this situation is quickly becoming.
We purchased this fridge about six months ago and we are extremely disappointed with the quality on this product. The Stainless steel is so thin on it that when you actually close the door by hand if you dont use the handles if your ring or anything touches it it scratches and puts a dent in it right away. Stay far from this product and if youre in Canada stay away from Trail appliances in Edmonds Fine Appliances. They said all this is normal. If you have kids definitely stay away from this. This is not the the same Fisher Paykel that was an Australian company, it now owned by Haier Group out of China. Quality is the worst ever.
I absolutely love my new washer and dryer set by Fisher and Paykel. I have had zero problems with the machines since I purchased them in August of this year. The Eco features save me money on water costs, and my clothes dry very fast due to the powerful spin cycle. I cannot recommend highly enough. Best appliance purchase ever!!!
Ive had a Fisher Paykel washer & dryer for 8 years and overall happy with it. My problem is the dryer has stopped drying as quickly (taking 2+ hours for one load). Ive called local repairmen and was told they cant repair this brand. I found one in a neighboring town who will come and look at it but will cost a minimum $115 for a service call. Why cant all repairmen work on this particular brand?
