So after reading good reviews and hearing good things about Goodman, I decided to fork out the money and pay to have a brand new Goodman heat pump packaged unit installed before winter gets here. Well needless to say that Id much rather have my 13 year old unit back in. The HVAC service company installed a new 3-Ton Packed heat Pump in on the 23rd of November. Its been almost two weeks and already Im very disappointed in this unit. Yes it may be a little bit quieter but it definitely does not get as warm as my York did. The funny thing is that they are both the same size. Im an engineer so I took my infrared thermal gun along with my Fluke Thermometer to record over a two day period what the min., avg.,and max. temps coming out the ducts were. This past weekend the outside air temp was around 42-45 deg. F.. This isnt all that cold outside but needless to say that having my thermostat left on 73 all weekend left for some warm to even bitter air temps inside the house. My house is basically a brand new house with all new dry walls and insulation. After recording the temps, the lowest air temp the hvac pumped out was 64.8, the average was 78.6, and finally the max. temp was 96.8. Only 96.8? That is ridiculous for it being only 42 degrees outside. My 13 year old York heat pump unit would put out at least 110-115 max in that weather. Needless to say I will never buy a Goodman again after losing all the money that I have. Im scared to see how cold its going to be in this house when it is 0-5 degrees and snowing outside. Im more than likely going to have to bite the bullet on this one and buy a whole new unit from York, Trane, or even a Lennox.
I purchased a heat pump in 11/2011 and then started to have a lot of problems in 2015. It was noisy running also. Then on 5/15 was my 1st service call and they found a hole in the coil which leaked freon. Had to be repaired and added freon. Then 4/2016 it stopped working completely. Another service call and they had to replace the compressor and defrost control unit. At least they were under warranty, but I had to pay for service call and freon. Thats not cheap either. On July 8 warm air came thru vents. Serviceman had to add more freon and changed the schraders. More money. This lasted a week and back to warm air again. Another call another hole in coil and more freon. This lasted a month so now its Aug. 2016 and Im sitting here in my house with temp of 95 and outside temp of 98. I have so much money out for service calls and freon, that Ive decided that I am going to have to buy a new heat pump when this one isnt even 5 yrs. old. But with all the money going for repairs, I could have put in a new one. I trusted the dealer for the quality of Goodman products, but since all these troubles Ive read all the unsatisfactory notations and Im adding to it. In fact the customer service girl at Goodman hung up on me when I told her I would never recommend this company to anyone. Hows that for rude employees!! I would like to get some of my money back if its possible. I wrote to Goodman asking for this, but I doubt if I will because they dont care. They dont even make my model anymore, so it must have been bad to begin with. I hope other people read the reviews about Goodman before they purchase anything and dont buy from them. Model #GSZ1302471 serial #1107701356.
From day one I have hated this LOUD condenser. I trusted my HVAC contractor, who had worked on our home for 5+ years and that was a fatal mistake. We had a York AC unit that was great but when it leaked he said he would replace it. He replaced it with a Goodman condenser and coil - I had no idea he would not be replacing it with another York system as he did not tell me he only installed Goodman units. The second it was installed it was LOUD inside our home. Amazingly enough, when I pointed it out to the installer/owner of the HVAC company he said, Does not sound loud to me. Hey, its not your house! Had the tech service guy come out from Goodman and he went through the entire condenser unit and in his report he said it was all great but it was loud inside the house but very quiet outside - so when the AC is running I would need to be outside - perfect. Pretty much my two+ months with customer service, their supervisor, the tech supervisor have been horrible and 10 years of this is just going to be a picnic. DO NOT BUY GOODMAN and do NOT ever trust your HVAC company to install anything without your permission.
I bought this furnace about a year ago, and it has lowered the temperature swings and reduced my heating bills by almost half. This is all thanks to the double stage heating and a high energy efficiency of 95%.The installation was hard for me, and I was forced to hire a technician to do all the setup work and everything turned out well after that. I have not had any issues with my furnace, and I love how well it works.
Heat pump 4 years old - spent 2500$ in repairs already. The very first year, we had to replace the condenser, the second year, the coils, the third year we have had to replace the tubing soldering. The parts are warranty but the labor is not, it has costs us 800 to 900 dollars a year. We have called Goodman and they say, the parts are under warranty but we are responsible for the labor to repair these parts. I have asked that extend our warranty or replace the unit. I can get no help. There is no logical reason for the major items in a brand new unit purchased in 2013 have so many bad parts. Customer service is HORRIBLE, no help at all. Registered 4/9/13, Serial #1210586748, Model gph1348h41, Dealers name Connells heating and A/C.
In 2011, I had two Goodman split units (upstairs and downstairs) installed. With minor parts calls, for the most part they have worked OK. I purchased Goodman Goodcare Extended Warranties (10 year) coverage on parts and labor. It is Oct 2019 (8 years of operation) and the main floor outside unit 3.5 ton unit compressor failed. The largest HVAC vendor (also a Goodman dealer) in the area will only cover the parts but not honor the labor warranty. The answer back is that Goodman is either slow or never reimburses the dealers/vendors on labor and so the vendors wont honor it. I called Goodman for other HVAC vendors to call. From the list they provided of vendors, two are no longer in business, and the other says they will not honor the labor warranty either. :(
First of all, Im not the type to write a review every time I experience something or go on YELP every time I go to a restaurant. Actually this is my first time ever writing a review. But this experience has really gotten under my skin. My Goodman gas furnace went out last Saturday. I am a mechanic by trade and have worked on many RV gas furnaces so of course I checked it out myself. I took the cover off of the unit and figured out in a few minutes that the problem was that the squirrel cage was in a bind. Therefore not able to spin to push hot air through the duct because the cage was laying against the shroud that the motor and cage sits in. And what had caused this was that one of the brackets supporting the motor had broken a weld. Apparently, it had been running this way for a while because the bearings in the motor were shot. So, even if the bracket was rewelded the problem wouldnt be cured because the bearings are shot making the motor shaft tilt which the cage rides on. Therefore the outcome would be the same. So I called Goodman and of course they were closed on weekends. Which is understandable. Monday I called and after getting forwarded to 3 different people I finally reached someone in the warranty department. I gave them the model and serial number and they said that the unit was under warranty because it is only 2 years old. Well, thats good I thought to myself. But, this is the kicker. I explained the problem, which is very simple I thought. But they wouldnt take my word for it. I was told that I had to call a professional that was a Goodman dealer to check it out so they {THE DEALER} could call it in and order the part. So I had to call a heating & air company and pay them a service call and labor just to tell me the same thing that I already knew. That was all done on Monday. Later that day the heating & air company called and told me that the order was placed and ordered. But I would be responsible for the shipping, which I dont agree with. I asked when I should expect the new parts. They said probably Friday. The parts were coming from Texas, which should be a 4 day delivery time, since Im in NC. Meanwhile the temperature is in the 30s cause its January. You would think that they would rush delivery the parts. Its now the following Saturday and still no parts and Im still without heat. I went and bought an electric heater but it only heats one room. Hindsight I would have been better off buying the parts online for less money but Goodman wouldnt give me the part number for the part I need. Now Ive spend $150.00 for the service call and labor and I expect the shipping to be at least $50.00. Not counting the $120.00 electric heater I had to buy. So much for WARRANTY... I am very unsatisfied with the GOODMAN products and even more with the customer service. Needless to say the next house I build will not have anything GOODMAN in it.
I purchased this unit from a local contractor and have had 3 problems with it since installation. I had installer fix the first issue which he told me they would not charge me for. Unit was installed horizontally in attic and installers didnt know that when unit is installed this way condensation builds up in tube which wont allow heat to start up.Their employees are totally incompetent since they never glued PVC vent and exhaust piping through roof. Primed but never glued. Stick a piece of pipe in and thats done. Crooked coming out the roof, which I had to have repaired with the unglued pieces of pipe. Im afraid to check and see if they at least glued the pipe that holds condensation as that will eventually leak in time if that was also improperly installed. Now I had to have flame sensor replaced and unit is only 3 years old. Goodbye to Mensers Heating and Cooling and Goodman products.
We had just put in a brand new Goodman gas pack in 2018. The heating system does not heat as sufficient as the AC blower does. We have to put in a space heater to keep it warm during the winter but it cools just fine during the summer. I called and asked the question what would cause this. They told me that they are not trained for this type of stuff?! They told me I have to hire somebody to come out and look. The company we have put it in in Zebulon North Carolina was not trusted anymore and we had got rid of them ever since. Company name Company name Air Serv. Very poor customer service.
We purchased and registered our 3.5 ton 14 seer package unit heat pump in June 2016. Oct 2016 our air stops cooling. We call the HVAC installers and they come out and the coil is leaking. We had to have freon and are now waiting on the new coil to be delivered. A new heat pump should last more than 3 months. We will be out labor cost and cost of freon. Since Goodman knows that this is an issue they should be bending over backwards to cover all cost associated with the coils.
I purchased a Goodman heat pump GPH1360H41BC (sn: 1208655671) in 2012 from a local dealer by my AC tech. It worked ok at first except for low freon. This year I began having problems. First a capacitor, then the fan motor. A month later I was told the coil had a leak and tech replaced 5 lbs freon at $30/lb plus labor. I was quoted 11 lbs of freon at $30/lb plus 3 hrs labor for a total of about $900 for a new coil. Coil was under warranty but labor and freon isnt. Those are the biggest cost on the problem. Why should we have to pay for freon that escaped as a result of a faulty coil?A week later the new coil arrived and will be installed tomorrow. Now I find out there are many problems with Goodman products. I am a widow on social security and cannot afford costly repair bills. My tech tells me they do not install these anymore. Im also afraid that my son who purchased one a year or so ago will also start having problems. Made in China products are no good. Please stop selling these.
Buy another brand. This AMANA unit has a ten year warranty and the condenser stopped working after 8 years. Goodman refuses to honor the warranty. They sell crap and then don’t warrant their crap. DON’T BUY GOODMAN/AMANA! Buy a Trane or any other brand! I bought a C/A unit in 1982 and sold the house in 2016 and the condenser/compressor was working just fine after 34 years! This junk quit after 8! The cost was $6840.00! And no warranty! CROOKS!
I purchased this gas furnace about three years ago for my old folks, and they are yet to experience any problems with the pump. During summer, the house is evenly cooled as well as being equally warmed during the winter season. The furnace is quite expensive but according to my experience, the quality is worth the high price. Many expensive products are believed to be of high quality but last longer. I would buy this product again and also I would, without a doubt, recommend it to anyone.
I purchased a 16 seer Variable speed 2 stage 3 ton heat pump with a AVPTC air handler. The unit was purchased and installed on 1/13/2012. Almost immediately the problems started. Goodman replaced the variable speed motor in the air handler along with the circuit board. I then started having problems with the heat pump in the winter months kicking out on the high head pressure limit. After many calls to Goodman, they sent a factory Rep from Iowa along with a rep. from Lute Supply where the unit was purchased. The rep found a short in the high pressure limit, a Hard start was added to the heat pump and the unit worked fine for about 6 months. At this point I have $750.00 invested in service calls. The unit failed again in August 2016. Service was called again and the run capacitor was replaced. Service call $313.00. The unit ran fine until 10/25/17 when the heat pump stopped. Service was again called and I was told the unit is leaking and coil needs replaced. I have 13 service calls on this unit at a cost of $1800.00. The unit is coming out, I would never recommend Goodman products.
Goodman has an excellent reputation in the HVAC industry for many reasons. They offer a wide selection of high-efficiency products that feature superb engineering and quality construction, which are available at a variety of price points. Goodman offers very comprehensive warranty coverage on almost all of their products, with mid-range and premium priced models receiving additional coverage to protect your investment better.
Purchased a renovated foreclosed home with a brand new Goodman heat pump and air handler. I learned the unit was installed in Oct. 2014 and I purchased my home in March 2015. During that time the house was unoccupied because it was for sale. Goodman will extend warranty from 5 years to 10 if you register within 60 days installation. Even though my situation is identical to a new home sale Goodman refused my extension two times. Their customer service is pathetically poor.
In 2007 we had a new Goodman 4 ton 15 SEER heat pump installed in our home. Nothing but problems since. Much review was done before purchase to make sure size was appropriate for home, etc. Never really feels like its heating or cooling properly. Numerous times per year it has required repair, run capacitor, defrost control board, blower motor, bad txv (whatever that is), bad reversing valve. Last week started making awful noise while running. Repairman said it needs new fan. And last night it started throwing the breaker at the heat pump. So tired of this piece of crap, would not recommend.
I have purchased a total of 8 Goodman units for my rentals and my home. I have a lot of problems with seven of them. The coils needed to be replaced on all of them and the relay boards. The parts were under warranty but the labor and freon was a great cost to us. We had most of the problems within a year and a half after they were installed... I have never had such a bad experience with a/c units... Never again will I buy Goodman.
We built a new house and the builder installed an Amana heat pump through one of his subcontractors. The Amana contractor/installer did not register the product, nor were we advised that registration on our part was required. We have all documentation of the purchase. A part in the heat pump failed and Amana (Goodman Manufacturing) would NOT stand by the warranty, because we had not formally registered the product with them. Amana (Goodman Manufacturing) would not accept the paid invoices to the builder as proof of purchase. This is very shabby business practice and the manufacturers way of legally not honoring the warranty. I contacted Julicia ** at Amana (Goodman Manufacturing), and she was rigid/inflexible re: my issue.
Replaced my outside AC unit in 2014. Original unit lasted 15 years. Inside unit still going at 20 years with regular cleaning. Regular AC guy, John **, recommended a Goodman outside unit. In 2016 compressor leaks and John replaces it under warranty charging me labor at $75 per hour for 14 hours to pick up and install (ripoff). In 2017, the warranted replacement compressor is leaking. Replaced under warranty and same install cost. I had to use John as he had purchased the unit and could only do the warranty. Never again will I fall into this trap. The outside unit has now cost me $4500. I could have replaced the whole system with a reliable system for that expense, which I have to do now in 2018.So after just shy of 4 years a 4 ton a/c and heating outside unit needed service and Freon added two times (2016 and 2017). The tech I called out today showed me oil leaking from the condenser too. The freon was gone. At least with a whole new unit I will switch from R22 to R14 freon. So no more C & J Repairs and Services Inc to service my AC and never again a Goodman AC unit.
If I could rebuild my house and choose a better heating system - I would. Goodman is absolutely terrible! Had our home for 3 years and had 3 major repairs done on the unit. Whats really frustrating is the lack of parts. Whoopie - the parts are under warranty. However, labor is still outrageous and it take 3 - 5 weeks to get the part! Unexplainable! This has happened 3 different times now. It is now 16 degrees outside and we have been without a heater for 3 weeks. This type of support - or lack of support is criminal!
Bought new A/C unit in 2016, as of date I have spent more money repairing the unit than I did purchasing it. I Have replace the Freon 3 times, condenser coil, motor and now my evaporator coil needs replacing and more Freon again. Im suppose to buy a labor contract to fix a BRAND NEW UNIT!!! REALLY???
I purchased an HVAC system in 2013, which broke before it was even 2 years old! The repairman mentioned that he had to completely refill the refrigerant because it had all leaked out. He said that it leaked out because the units factory weld joint was faulty, causing the refrigerant to leak out. He mentioned that this absolutely should not happen to a system that is this new. He mentioned that I should contact Goodman for reimbursement. I contacted customer service, who asked that I submit a letter with the serial number of the unit and a copy of the repair bill for reimbursement. I received a reply via letter, which was very obviously a canned response, telling me the same thing I was told on the phone, that the warranty does not cover refrigerant, labor, etc. Only parts. The company stated in the letter, It is impossible to predict the life of any one part. That tells me that the design, test, and quality assurance divisions are severely lacking. Goodman obviously does not care about its products or customers. Im still waiting on a return call from customer service.
I got my 3 ton 14 seer heat pump unit 2010. Had to have leak repair in 2012 and refill gas. Have had to add gas every year since. I was told by two technicians I had a leak in my coil. They have been unable to find a coil. Now my compressor is shot. They can find a compressor but not coil. I still have two years left on warranty but cant get coil.
Ive never had so many problems with a furnace in my life. I have a Goodman furnace with a Goodman heat pump. I think it was a real shabby install. Even though the problems may all be related to his install, he wants paid for the service call plus mileage each time. His business is in Miles City, Montana, that is 75 miles from here. I think they should have to replace the heat pump because of the many times it has cycled trying to start. It should be worn out by now. The last time they put in the wrong freon. I wonder what damage it is doing to the rest of the appliances. Every time it cycles it draws current away from my well pump, refrigerator, etc.
We put in a new Goodman air conditioner two years ago. Yesterday, we had to replace the compressor. Even though it is under warranty, we had to pay a $100 fee from Goodman for the part and $650 in labor to have it installed. We called Goodman about it, and they were unhelpful bordering on rude.
My rental property at ** Springfield, VA. Air Conditioner system was replaced by BK Tech contractor Sean ** at 43020 La Riva Dr Ashburn, VA 20148 on Aug 13, 2009 with a Goodman AC system. Last summer a refrigerant leak in the condenser was repaired under 1st yr warranty. This year again the condenser leaked and required replacing the condenser coil.
Amana ASZ14 -14 seer A/C and ASZ16-16 seer - 6/12/09 Installation of a 3 Ton and 5 Ton Unit. 4/20/10 Replaced 5 ton unit under warranty. 9/30/10 Replaced evaporator coil of 5 Ton unit. 6/2011 Replaced evaporator coil of 3 Ton unit. 9/22/11 Replaced coil in 3 Ton unit. 9/13/12 Replaced evaporator coil in 5 Ton unit. 6/4/14 Replaced indoor fan motor of 5 Ton unit. 3/18/15 Replaced capacitator on condenser in 5 Ton unit. 4/14/16 Replaced entire 3 Ton outside unit. 5/3/16 Replaced coils in 3 Ton unit. We were not reimbursed for the drywall damage to our ceilings in the three times it leaked downstairs through drywall. Were not reimbursed for the over $1500.00 worth of labor charges. No representative has come to our home to inspect units. Right now our outside 5 Ton unit is showing the same signs as the 3 Ton unit did and needs to be replaced. We do not want to be waiting in sweltering in 90 degree heat for days until the Unit was replaced.
Had a Goodman heat pump installed. It did not lower our bills like we expected and were told. It leaked freon every year, but Goodman would not honor the warranty because the installer had evidently not turned in a registration form. The unit was a lemon and we were told it would cost more to start replacing components than to get a new one.
In 2010 I purchased a Goodman air conditioner for close to 3,000.00. I go back and forth between residences. In April of this year, I arrived to a very hot condo. I called the company who sold me the unit (C&C Heating and Cooling). They came out twice and told me it was a faulty coil and the freon was freezing up. I am retired and cannot afford to be paying service and parts for something I should not have to do. I had to pay $250.00 for service, part and freon. I called your company and was told to contact you when the service was complete. I have all the invoices. The reason for this email and that I dont think I should have to pay for a unit to be repaired that is less than 5 years old. Hope to hear from you soon, thank you.
Bought 2d Goodman system after a.c. failed, have a regular a.c. also goodman. The heat pump has not functioned properly since install. Very erratic operation. It is a waste of electricity even though was sold as an energy saver. Runs for 20 to 30 min and never gets above 75 output. This is with 70 room temp and 70 set on thermostat. Has had circuit board replaced and installer came in and rebuilt duct system. I am so frustrated especially after paying a premium price. Thinking about having it removed even if only 7 months old if I could find someone to give me half what I paid for it. It sucks.
I had a gas leak the first season (2011). I went without heat for one month as the Gas Company kept turning off my Goodman unit. Dayton Services tech came out 4 times but could find nothing. A neighbor found the leak and they came out and fixed it as I had taken a picture of the leak. Next season the Amana a/c went out and Freon put in. Skipped a season and next year the a/c went out again and capacitor and freon added. Skipped a season and same thing again--Freon and capacitor. I am 83 and didnt want to go through the heat and bought a window unit in anticipation of next breakdown in summer 2018. I called and wrote Goodman (in Houston) along with pages of documentation. No response. Mainly sarcasm. No response from Dayton. Paid $5,000 for the unit. Im supposed to have 10-year warranty and service!
17.5 SEER 3 Ton unit, ComfortBridge Technology, Honeywell 9000 Thermostat (Total Connect Online/Smartphone AC Management), 10 year Extended Labor Warranty through Goodman, 15 feet of ductwork replaced in the attic, all City permits and State tax included. Excellent local company found on the Goodman Website.
I have a Goodman AC unit that is barely 2 years old. Back in November 2017 my coil went bad and lost all coolant. Had to wait almost 2 months for a new coil since it was on backorder. The new coil was installed in January of 2018. Roughly a month later, the float switch died and had to be replaced. A week or two later, the blower died. This also had to be replaced. It is now June of 2018 and the six months old coil is leaking AGAIN! It will cost around 800 dollars to fix AGAIN! Since both coils failed and caused the air handler to freeze up, I now have water damage in the air handler cabinet. Mold is now growing and had to be removed. The air handler cabinet will have to be replaced as well since the insulation is now damaged. With this new repair, I will be $2,000 dollars in the hole on a 2 year old system.Goodman seems like they have poor quality control for their systems and refuse to help. I called the manufacturer and they blame the installation company and to contact the distributor about any complaints. Since the parts keep failing, I would say its the manufacturers fault, not an installation company or distributor. They also have poor customer service. The person I called was Debbie. She was very rude and not helpful at all. She seemed like she didnt want to hear my complaint and not help me. She told us to call the distributor and that was it.With poor quality control and poor customer service, I would have to say this is, by far the worst company I have had to deal with and never will again. Reading all the reviews on here, I am starting to consider legal action against GOODMAN. There has to be some laws protecting consumers against such practices that GOODMAN conducts.
I employed an Air Conditioner to replace my Central Air unit. Goodman A/C was recommended by the salesman. The next day after the installation, my wife and INoticed that a noise came from the A/C condenser unit. I contacted the contractor and informed him that I was concerned about the expensive noise that was being emitted from the A/C, I was told by him that this was normal. I then contacted Goodman Manufacturing who in term informed me to contact the Contractor who then in turn should contact their supplier for further investigation. It has been several weeks now, the noise at start up has been steadily been increasing in sound. Up to now nothing has been resolved, I am am now in the cycle of phone tag. My wife has medical problems and requires an A/C that functions correctly. Where do I find a solution for this problem? I have paid for this Unit. I did not get it for nothing.
A brand new Goodman/Amana A/C was installed in my home in 2011. The condenser coil leaked and had to be replaced in 2012. In 2014, coil leaked; it was patched and freon recharged. In 2015, freon leaked, was now attributed to the evaporator coil. In the four years since the new unit was installed, I have spent over $1000 for labor replacing BOTH coils and freon recharges. Basically, the product is a piece of junk and major parts need to be replaced - not anyone expects of a new equipment. Is there collusion between the manufacturer and the A/C service provider: one sells product that should be pulled from the market, the other recommend the product and makes money by labor charges?
I purchased a brand new Goodman 4 ton HVAC unit in March 2017 for 5k. Only 4 years later the compressor goes out and it cost me $800 in labor to fix their bad products?! How is this okay? Goodman should have to stand behind the labor charges too! I will NEVER buy GOODMAN again!! Dont do it!! I wish I had thought to visit this site before I made my purchase... Live and learn!
Had a Goodman GSZ14 Heat Pump and Air Handler system installed in my house. The units ran trouble free for about four years. Last week the house lights would randomly flicker, yesterday the Heat Pump stopped working. The repairman found that a wiring bundle was ty-wrapped to a coolant line and the vibration of the system wore through the wire insulation and shorted out on the coolant line and arced a hole in that line causing the coolant to escape and shut down the unit. The wire was on a high voltage circuit so every time it shorted out, our house lights would flicker.
Goodman 2 Ton 13 Seer A/C unit and compressor: Bought a unit in 2009 - every year had to have them come and do something because it either did not heat or did not cool. Bought it for $2,355. In 2012 I ended up with bills over $2,400 in repairs. Whatever went wrong was NEVER a warrantied part. Watched them fix the air handler and saw the most flimsy wires ever which I was told would burn out every so often. Last couple of years, the compressor seemed to be rather noisy. Filed a complaint and now I am getting nowhere because the installer and manufacturer keep blaming the other person. IF neither accepts responsibility, then I hope to go the the media to have this resolved. Heard there is a lawsuit against Goodman Mfg. Id like to have a decent unit put in. Tired of the expense. Have a 10-year warranty and it didnt last 4 years before I had bills that added up to a new unit plus more... Go to another manufacturer.
I bought a 15 seer heat pump from Goodman Manufacturing. This is my worst mistake ever, less than 5 years evaporator coil started leaking out Freon. 2 pounds to start with, then 1 year later 5 pounds. Unless you like spending enormous amounts of money on Freon ($45 per pound), and $75 per hour labor, do not buy a goodman heat pump or air conditioner. The amount of rust around the evaporator coil is unbelievable. Their warranty is a ** warranty. The warranty is only as good as the product, and the product is only as good as the warranty. Please do some research and don’t buy goodman products. I thought it said made in America. Its made with defective parts, please look at all their negative reviews. I had a Rheem that lasted 31 years and a carrier 33 years.
We purchased our system in 2007 and have had every problem you can imagine. Major part replacements, like heater coils. Currently we are having cooling issues. Last year the freon had leaked out, we are thinking that is whats happening again. Getting ready to have it serviced to find the problem. After reading all the negative reviews, a class action suit needs to be filed against the makers of this product. Im going to need money to replace this unit. I agree with the others who posted a review, its an expensive piece of junk!
Evaporator coil went bad after 3.5 years (known issue) with Goodman search the web for complaints. I have a 10 year warranty after fighting with Goodman on registering the unit for a new house. My HVAC guy files for warranty. The approval took a week then it took Goodman another week to inform as to COVID19 we are backed logged and dont know when the part will be in stock.Given the amount of people who have the same issue with Goodman one would expect Goodman to have this part in the warehouses. Sadly no warehouses have the part and what was in stock as to the known issue with summer starting those in stock were taken. I have never seen an HVAC system have this issues after 3.5 years. My parents had an Amana hvac from 1980s which was replaced in 1999 that ran with no issues which came with the house. After my 10 year warranty now 7 years left is done if I have issues I will get a Trane with spending the extra money so I do not have to worry about odd issues occurring.
4 years ago I had both inside and outside units replaced for peace of mind at retirement. Outside unit is a Goodman 4 ton and inside is a Miller furnace in a Modular home. This unit for 4 years has blown water into the plenum and soaked it so bad, I am sure it needs full replacement now. Then 4 years in a row the fine Goodman outside unit has failed in midsummer and is down again right now. It has had coils replaced and compressors replaced and is still under warranty, but when ac repair crew gets out here again maybe Tuesday, I am going to cut my losses and have this junk removed from my sight. It is still under warranty, but I see no reason to keep this unit in service. Right now I think it is the compressor out again, that will be number 3. This needs to be completely removed and everything repaired under furnace to stop water and mold. Cant believe they can sell such poor equipment to people in this country. I will now being retired have to buy and pay for install of another unit and they can take this Goodman with its warranty to the landfill site. DO NOT BUY A GOODMAN UNIT, UNLESS YOU WANT CONSTANT REPAIRS AND EXPENSE ON YOUR PART.
Installed new furnace and air conditioning. Price point is good and for the most part, all functions well. Continually get error message and have had technician out 4 times for the same issue. Have changed motherboard twice, which alleviates error for a few months but it returns.
I bought a Goodman M acvolt8/ 208/233 unit when I bought my module home Feb 2015. This came as a package deal. I have had to have a local authorized dealer out three times because the air conditioner will not work. Leak found at filter dryer and piston meter device. There is a clog in the system in the area of the clog. The unit was completely frozen. There was no Freon in the system. This system is LESS than two years old. The repairman also noted that the ductwork was not the proper size for the unit we have. I need to have the unit completely replaced and have the proper ductwork put in or I will continue to have this problem. Since the AC/HEATING unit came as a package deal through Taylor Made Homes and Destiny manufacturer I had no choice in what company they used.
The capacitor failed after only 3 1/2 years. While this inexpensive part (less than $30) is covered under warranty the labor of a licensed HVAC contractor is not covered. So I had to dish out $180 for labor. Labor should be covered under warranty as well. Disappointing and frustrating to happen on a relatively new unit.
Purchased 4 Goodman package heat pump units, 3 out of the 4 have all had problems, bad reversing valve and compressor on 1 unit, bad condenser coil on 2 unit cannot be repaired, 2 bad condenser coils on the 3rd unit, cannot be repaired. Goodman will NOT stand behind their bad and leaking coil issues. I will never purchase another Goodman product.
I am a new homeowner who had a nice HVAC guy install a brand-new Goodman system in my home (I chose Goodman). The red plastic logo on the outside unit broke off within two months so I simply contacted Goodman to ask for a replacement (it serves their needs well to have free advertising like that) and they flat-out refused after initially telling me it was being sent. What a horrible company. I shudder to think what will happen if/when the unit itself goes out. Already regretting this purchase. Should have gone with another more reputable manufacturer. BTW, this sign is being removed entirely. Nobody needs to know I have a Goodman which is a piece of garbage based on how their corporate headquarters treated me for simply asking for a replacement logo/sign.
After having a Goodman furnace installed in my home 7 years ago, I recently had to spend $1000 on repairs. The main blower wheel began to make noise and was found to have cracked welds where the fins attach to the end plate. While the Tech was there he noticed the Combustion Blower was also noisy and dragging. He thought it might last a little longer, but I elected to replace it then as well. Since the furnace was just out of warranty, the cost for the two parts was almost $800. I have seen other complaints regarding Goodman Furnaces and must agree, they are substandard. The initial cost was low, and the unit seems to be efficient, but long term durability is poor. I have heard others say Goodmans are fine for a home you dont intend to keep. Ditto That!
Our house has two HVAC units. Had both air conditioners replaced just under two years ago. The coil from the bigger unit cracked, and all the refrigerant leaked out. The warranty covered the part, the cheapest item of the repair. The warranty did NOT cover the labor or the $1500 worth of refrigerant that leaked. What a gyp. Its not like we did anything out of character. We paid a certified installer to install a new unit. Air conditioners use refrigerant. If the unit breaks, the refrigerant leaks out. This should be covered. The treatment from Goodman (also known as Diakin) is that if you pay to have brakes installed on your car, and the brakes fail causing your car to get totaled, Goodman will pay for new brakes, but not to have them installed, or to have the car repaired or replaced, saying were terribly sorry our brakes failed, but the rest of the car, well, thats just incidental, we wont cover you, thats on you. This gets worse. I posted a review on their website. They emailed me asking for more information. They emailed me back asking me to call. I called. They found my warranty, but had no idea why I was told to call. The lady said it must have been our media team. And that was it! Oh yeah, I checked, they removed my negative review from their website. On top of that, they obviously manipulate their reviews. In addition to removing mine, they left another review that gave one star, but talked about how Goodman made the best unit every. Cant even own up to their mistakes. I will not make the mistake with Goodman again. Our furnaces are probably going to go in the next few years, certainly will avoid Goodman and Diakin.
After 5 years we change two condenser unit and two coil. After 1 year we change condenser unit and coil again. Compressor go bet and coil leaks again. If You want save many never use Goodman products!
Had the Goodman DSXC18 AC condenser installed with a matching Variable speed air handler and after research and vetting a qualified installer I am very happy with the value, efficiency, overall performance of the Goodman product. Would suggest this product to anyone looking for a great value, warranty, and performance. (As long as they have a qualified technician installing the product).
My husband is the one who got it. He heard me complaining and thought he’d do something about it. The Carrier we had before had nothing left in it, it kept breaking down and costing us money. We bought this new unit from Goodman and I think my husband made the right choice. It cools the house really well, and I’m glad we have.
We had a Goodman GMH95 gas furnace and Ac installed in 2015. Three years later the heat exchanger cracked, rendering the furnace unusable. What followed were two weeks without heat and almost a $1,000 in repair costs. While the part was covered by their warranty, the labor was not. It took two weeks to get the part, during which we had to heat our home with space heaters which added to the cost with a huge electric bill. Never another Goodman product again!
Replace our 15 years old trane air conditioner and choose Goodman from the same contractor. Contractor told me that there is no need to replace the ductwork and just did some sealing and cleaning job.
When this unit Goodman heat pump model GPH144841AC was about one year old it developed a major leak causing all the refrigerant to escape. It cost $500 to have someone repair the faulty factory solder joint and recharge it. Since I installed the unit myself Goodman will not honor any warranty. It is a self contained unit that I did not even open up so there was no way I could have damaged the inside of the unit. About two years later the main power relay failed and I had to replace it. This past Spring, 2017, I found it low on refrigerant and I added about 3 pounds and it worked correctly up until a few days ago even cycling off during some 28 degree weather (so it had refrigerant then). Yesterday I noticed it was running on emergency heat and checked it this morning. Not a pound of pressure. Apparently the small leak became a big leak. Again since it is a self contained unit it must be a factory fault. Im hoping it is something that can be easily fixed, but Im going to start saving for a replacement and it sure will not be a Goodman unit. They are junk.
I purchased a Goodman central air conditioner in 2009. Since that purchase I have had to change the inside coils within 4 yrs and numerous service calls. Last year June of 2013, there was a leak on the inside coils and it cost me 400.00 labor and prior to that I spent 350.00 to diagnose the problem. Now it is Sept 2014, the air compressor locked up and failed, now the warranty expired in 5 yrs. I am looking at a replacement cost of at least 1400.00, but Goodman honored the warranty because it was expired by 2 days. Next week Sept 15 the coils in the unit leaked, the technicians tried to repaired it but could not. I had to purchase a new unit for 1450.00
I just got my furnace 2 years ago and the air went out, and now the furnace is not working. I am a senior citizen with 2 grandkids living with me. I am now using space heaters trying to keep the family warm during this cold time. We live in STL and I am willing to pay for the part but I dont see where you have the part in stock, B1282628S. What a Christmas! Can you help me?
We bought a Goodman GMV95 2 stage gas fired unit warm air furnace about 5-6 years ago. Supposedly top of the line and would last. Last night it stopped working and now has a burnt spot in the circuit board and gas valve is stuck (so no heat). Despite being within the 10 year warranty it is not covered by their warranty because it didnt get registered. Guy was a real ** on the phone. Warning all potential customers - AVOID this company.
Ever since Goodman HVAC was installed a year & a half ago, it has never worked correctly. It blows cold air in the winter and warm air in the summer. It runs constantly when its hot trying to keep up but it cant. The company who installed it has checked it several times & always come up with an excuse and/or says its working as it should. Dont waste your money.
I closed on my home May 2014 and purchased your product Model: GSZ13421AG Serial:1403135510. This product is almost new and only 2 years old. It has been determined that it has a faulty piece. I feel as if I have no recourse and am stuck with this faulty product. The air conditioner is defectively designed and cracked resulting in it leaking refrigerant, thus making my unit entirely inoperable unless I pay 750.00 total. As a result, my electric bill has increased because while the unit was leaking, it required more power for adequate cooking. Because the leakage of the refrigerant from the evaporator coil left my unit completely ineffective, I am forced to pay 750.00 in total repairs to address the problem fully which will take 2 weeks.Worse, today I had to pay 79.00 for a leak search out of my pocket to determine why your product is not functioning as promised by your company. I had to pay 75.00 for the visit and 190.00 for refrigerant. Worse, I have to pay 425.00 in labor next week to have your item repaired, the bill is at 750.00 plus at this point. I am outraged. This is ridiculous. Im told that it is tough and I should pay or my house will be hot.
Seems like I have a common problem with several consumers that have purchased a Goodman HVAC system. I built my house in 2009 and the builder installed 2 units, upper and lower. Every year I experienced issues with both units. We had to replace the coils and fan in the lower unit, we have to add Freon every year, $500+ because the units stop cooling. Ive spent well over $3000 for parts and labor. Now, looks like the upper unit continues to fail and the Goodman customer service department acts like the company has no concern for a resolution. My warranty expired after 5 years, because I too never received registration papers for an extended warranty.
On 6/7/19, my 11 year old Goodman Furnace had a near catastrophic overheating which melted the main control board and ruined the entire interior of the furnace with a putrid smelling black carbon dust. After sending photographs and a detailed report from the professional installer, who has only seen such a near fire twice in his 30 year career, I was told by Senior Management, “There is nothing we can do since you are 12 months out of warranty”!After discovering that Goodman had underreported major fire issues with other products in the past and was fined by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, I have decided that I want nothing to do with this company and their utter dismissal of my complaint and request for some assistance with a completely unreasonable $4,000 expense. This highly dangerous and unusual failure of a product without any company empathy or concern, after a vigorous outreach on my part, warrants this review and a refusal for anyone who is considering putting their lives in this company’s hands, to enrich this multi-billion dollar company any further.
I bought a house in April 2019. The house has been remodeled including a new a/c unit which the guy who flipped the house Installed. Goodman has not worked with me on warranty. I have replaced the capacitor 2x in 5 months for a 2018 a/c unit.
Well the Goodman HVAC unit is 3 years old and 2 coils down and now a compressor. These are clearly pieces of junk. Do not buy them. Its a shame that even with a parts warranty, I will have more money in labor in 3 years than the unit cost me to begin with. Not to mention burning up in the heat of summer. Junk Period!
Our Amana heat pump started breaking down after 5 years. First it was a leak, then coil, condenser then the other coil and another 5-6 leaks repaired. All of these on separate occasions & all in an 8 month period. Customer service wasnt any help either! I will never purchase Goodman Mfg. brand in the future!
On 06 March 2009 Reliable Home Comfort, installed me Goodman A/C in the leaky condenser. On 04.08.2010 RHC has reinstalled me a new unit A/C # as above in which again a leaky condenser. Then RHC refused further repairs and went out of business. Throughout this period until today the Goodman A/C was not working. On 09/06/2015 Ryno contact with you and it turned out that replacement warranty will be more expensive than the new A/C. RAYNO me a new Guardian A/C has installed for what I paid. Im on a faulty Goodman A/C lost only the money. I have a garage broken air conditioner and your guarantee for him. I am the unhappy and feel cheated, and the neighbors ask what a horrible business this Goodman. Please return the confirmation e-mail. Goodman does not respond to complaints. Maybe Goodman my complaint from you adopt.
I live in the NW and had my old unit replaced 6-2020 with a Goodman unit. The unit ran fine but was air only we have gas heat. So that said it only ran for app. 20 day in 2020. This year as temperatures rose in late June it started running for an additional 7 day then died completely by July 16th. That means this unit actually only lasted new for 37 days of A/C service. If it was a heat pump unit delivering heat that would have likely only lasted 1 month. That cost over 2500.00 for one months usage! No one wants to work on it. Just charge over 200.00 to diagnose the compressor is junk. We are left to suit the dealer who claimed 12 year parts & service extended Warranty on our contract in writing, and buy a real A/C unit that will last.Over 30 days usage. At my last home I sold in 2017 we put in a unit in 1997 upon our purchasing the home. It was a heat pump running all summer & winter. When we sold the home it still ran flawlessly 20 years later! Goodman should cease selling such cheap, undependable garbage to unsuspecting customer by shady dealers.
Bought Goodman. Never again. 2 burnt blower motors and now a defective evaporator coil and on top of that my installer said it’s all warrantied through Goodman for 10 years but now Goodman says they will not warranty the units for 10 years; only 5 because a form was not filed within 90 days from install. This is bull. It’s because they are in a class action lawsuit about having lot and lots of defective coils and so theyre trying to get out of covering their 10 year warranty on a technicality and because they know their stuff will only last for 5 year and now turning the blame on homeowners for their installing company negligence in not filing their paperwork timely by saying, Oh that’s the homeowners responsibility to file the warranty paperwork and if they don’t we will penalize them for our defective products.Let’s face it. Paperwork or not it should not affect the warranty. If their stuff was built right from the beginning and they felt a 10 year warranty was proper then filing a form should not matter. It does not change the MFG date or the install date or the way they make their products. They have not heard the last from me. This is just a start.Buy Trane not Goodman and save your self lots of headaches. Dealing with Goodman’s customers service is a joke just a headache. I’m not asking for labor charges or the 10 lbs of Freon that was lost due to their defective coils just to stand behind their 10 year policy and provide the parts to replace their known bad inferior parts for the 10 year period they promised. If youre looking for HVAC work do your homework. Check out the net for all the people having issues with Goodman then buy something else more reliable like American Standard or Trane. I wish I did.
Three year old 14 SEER heat pump developed a condenser coil leak. They warranted the part but not labor to have it installed. I had the new coil installed on a Friday. By Monday the coil drip pan developed a crack and was leaking water. Goodman was called by the installing A/C company for a replacement part and asked them to cover the install due to their part being faulty. Goodman refused to help or cover the labor cost. DO NOT BUY A GOODMAN! I’m cutting my losses and getting a better system from a company that cares about their customers.
Goodman refused to honor their extended warranty on my furnace on a known defect, stating that the Service Provider must be approved by the Goodman Extended Service Department; and not every authorized Goodman Dealer carries this authorization status. Like other reviews regarding Goodman on this website, the Consumer must make informed decisions not just based on the words in the Goodman contracts, but based on other Consumers experience as well. The devil is in the details when dealing with Goodman. Not a great way to build Consumer trust, but this is Goodmans prerogative to govern their business as they choose and to the sole benefit of Goodman; not the Consumer. BUYER BE VERY AWARE.
When we bought our house, we thought getting a new AC would be a good idea. The old one hadnt been properly maintained and summer was approaching. We had a new outside unit installed, plus new furnace (gas), and air handler. Everything worked great for the first two summers. The 16 SEER unit did a good job keeping up with the blazing Georgia heat, and our electrical bill wasnt too bad. 20 months after it was installed, the motor failed on the outside unit. The compressor was running, but the fan wouldnt turn.I just had the guy out from the company that installed it, and he verified its the motor. So, I now have to wait for a new motor to ship and then be replaced. In all, this is going to cost me $350 in shipping and labor (yes, Im paying shipping, too). It was good while it lasted, but, talk about buyers remorse. This will definitely be my last Goodman product. That includes anything from Daikin (Amana, for example). You lost my business.
Due to an internal wiring defect within the outside heat pump unit I got hit with a repair bill of just under $400. This was a manufacturer defect. Representatives of Goodman Manufacturing informed me that wiring defects are not covered under their warranty. The unit is within the initial warranty period which began on date of installation. Let this be a warning to anyone contemplating a Goodman Manufacturing product. They do not properly stand by their work. Beware.
We installed a 2008 model Goodman furnace in 2009. Last winter, we had a long, long cold streak and I had 6 different HVAC guys out to try to repair it. The last guy finally replaced the motherboard and it worked fine after that. Now, here we are in 2014 and the first cold spell of the winter and NO heat AGAIN!! Last year I had to spend $941. So far this year, $144. Plus last year we had to stay in a hotel for 4 nights because we couldnt get anyone to come and fix it due to the prolonged cold weather. Last year when we tried to file a warranty claim for the control board we were informed that because we didnt call them when the furnace was installed, our warranty ended after just 5 years! What a crock! NEVER, NEVER TAKE A CHANCE WITH THIS CRAPPY FURNACE!! Buyer beware!!!! SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!!!
We purchased a new Goodman heat pump and new furnace. We have had nothing but TROUBLE from the heat pump. Faulty parts and leaking freon. It is costly to have to keep fixing a NEW heat pump. I wish I still had my old one but we were told we had to let them have our old system??? For what it cost to repair this NEW heat pump you could just purchase a NEW heat pump. This is crazy. Other heat pumps last for 20 years or more with no problems? I give up on Goodman heat pumps.
I bought a new house and since day nor the heater smelled like aluminum odor, hot metal odor or hot burning metallic odor. Now when the ac is on we smell the same hot lighter odor and warm air come out of registers instead of clean cool air. Goodman after several months of complaint fireplace furnace. Nothing changed. Odor still here. Installer telling us load calc is correct and right size of furnace installed. Is the odor caused by heat exchanger getting hot due to size or the system is defective?
Our 15 year old TRANE air conditioner was ready to be replaced. I called around and read reviews and we chose NorthCentralFloridaAirConditioning. We paid about $7400.00 which I had to put on my credit card. They installed it in September 2019. To date we have had them come out to TRY and fix it at least ELEVEN times and it’s not a year old. Being elderly and in the middle of a pandemic doesn’t make it easier either. It would just stop working. After working in the yard and the heat index in the 100s is not fun coming in the house with an air conditioner not working at all.Ray- the boss and owner-and those that came out were nice and they did try to fix it. It’s not the company but the product. I hope we never ever have to buy a FRANKLIN AC ever again. We had a TRANE for 15 years and never had a problem with It until about a year before we got the FRANKLIN. Sales person assured me that FRANKLIN is better than a TRANE. We did let the manufacturer know about this and they noted this and gave us a case number. They put in a hard start kit which seems to be working for now. Manufacturer said not all units need that. Uh, why didn’t they just include this from the beginning!! This has been a true nightmare. Dena **
Subject : Goodman Gas Furnace / Model GMS90703BXA / Ser. No. 0603057665 / Installed Sept. 2006. Problem Flame Roll over due to Hole in Heat Exchanger (still under warranty). Was told repair cost would be $$128.00 Serv. call + $800.00 labor +$150.00 Frt!! Repair cost too high, went out to Carter Lumber in Toledo and purchased a NEW furnace for LESS than the repair cost!! The location was at my rental property and all installations are done by me. So sad because I have four more Goodman Furnaces at different locations and if I have another bad experience I will have to buy a different brand.
We are so disappointed in our Goodman HVAC unit. It was installed 9 months ago and the circuit board already failed. No big deal...its under warranty. WRONG! We were surprised to receive a bill for several hundred dollars when we had it repaired under warranty. When we called Goodman, they told us that the failed part was covered but not the labor or the service call, despite it being a product defect. They told us we had to have bought a separate labor warranty when we bought the unit if we wanted them to cover labor! So we just paid a whole lot of money to fix a manufacturer failure. We will not be buying more Goodman products in the future. Poor customer service!
When we built a new house it came with a Goodman unit. Less than two years and the house is not cooling during the summer months in Arizona. A tech has been out 6 times already to change our compressor and TX valve and its still not working. At this point I dont know what to do. Very upset that a brand new HVAC unit already failed.
I had their 97% AFUE furnace installed in my house in April 2018 along with a Ecobee thermostat. The system worked fine for the first season (winter 2018) but had starting issues winter 2019. The furnace tries to start but could not make the solenoid valve open - E0 H A 8 error code was displayed. The installer came back and somehow managed to make it work. Come winter 2020, same starting issue and the installer changed out the solenoid valve to make it work. Come winter 2021, one more change of the solenoid valve but system stopped working 2 weeks later. Please pay and install Goodman products if you are lacking action and grief in your life.
I am not happy with the Goodman A/C that was purchased in December 2009 and was installed on December 26, 2009. I have had nothing but problems with the unit and I purchased the 10 - 10 - 10 year warranty on the unit. Even though you have the warranty, the refrigerant is not covered and you are responsible for adding it - also you have to pay the service calls to get the unit checked. On 6-22-2010 the compressor went out and a new one was installed. On 8-9-11 the blower motor went out and was replaced. On 6-3-2014 the evaporator coil had to be replaced. On 2-23-15 the condenser coil was leaking and has to be replaced - found out to get a new condenser coil would be 7-14 days, because there was not one in the state of Florida. I would not recommend the purchase of a Goodman Unit of any kind. Our a/c company Star Air Conditioning & Heating in Kissimmee, Florida has been excellent and have done everything they can to be of service.
I purchased a Goodman HVAC system in 2020. The system was installed in February 2020 so they couldnt charge the AC system. When it came time to use the AC part of the system there was no R410 left. After 3 service calls it was discovered that the TVX valve was bad. Goodman offered to replace the valve but not pay the $788 dollar service call to track the problem down and fix the problem and recharge the system with 12 lbs of R410. The service department said they wouldnt cover the service call and replacement of R410 because of the faulty part caused which was to release all the R410. The system cant run without it. This was a brand new system. MAKE SURE AND CHECK WARRANTY. I would NOT recommend Goodman HVAC products.
I am very frustrated right now. My American Standard unit that had been working great for 17yrs finally died 3 yrs ago. It was replaced by a Goodman AC unit and heat pump. My HVAC guy said they were a good system so I trusted him. Now 3 yrs later the heat pump is not working and have to keep the gas furnace on emergency heat. I have contacted goodman with no help of a tech person to come out and check what is going on. It's still under warranty but I do not want to pay for a service call when the unit is only 3 yrs old.
So sorry to write this, but want to warn others not to waste their money buying Goodman HVACs. We are a manufacturers dream because we take care of anything we own. Since purchasing our unit in 2017, we have had it maintained by a local HVAC company that took care of a previous unit for 10 years. On June 1, 2019 our AC went out and diagnosis by the HVAC company that does maintenance as having a bad evaporator coil. I looked online and these normally last between 10 to 15 years. Goodman did warranty the part, but the change out and restarting the unit cost more than $2k.
I am a licensed HVAC/R contractor who has been in the field for 30+ years who installs all makes and models. These last two years selling Goodman products has been very very stressful. In particular the build quality is super cheap and flimsy and their quality control is extremely poor. Ive installed 30 gas furnaces in the last year and 10 of them all had wiring issues such as Molex plugs with uncrimped connections. The wires were not even stripped back and also the female spade terminals were poorly attached causing me to waste my time to fix their poorly assembled units. The last straw was I installed a brand new 80000 BTU 92% furnace for a very good customer of mine and it hasnt worked right since it had been installed. Now mind you this is not any fault of installation but fault of Goodman instead. The gas valve was dead on arrival so I thought, Ah. No big deal. Ill just go ahead and replace the gas valve. Things happen, I thought to my self. Well, in goes the new gas valve still not operating so then Im looking at a new replacement circuit board and now Im furious and the customers not too happy either. So go the new board installed. Didnt fix the issue either. Now Im fighting with customer service who is useless by the way and unwilling to help me resolve the issues. The customer service manager was dodging my phone calls and wouldnt return any of my calls. I didnt want an unhappy customer and wanted them to have heat so I removed that pile of junk and put in a New York furnace. Fired up beautifully. No problems and now the customers happy. But Ill tell you Im happy that the customers happy but Im not happy with Goodman. Please whoever reads this refuse Goodman products. They suck. They dont care about you or me and they are not cheap to buy either. Do yourself a favor and buy a quality brand and not this cheaply made trash. It made me look bad to the customer installing a brand new unit that should have had zero problems but ended up hurting me financially as I had to buy the customer a new furnace because they wouldnt help or even refund me for this defective unit. Hopefully they go out of business selling shoddy equipment to us honest hardworking Americans like us. I will never recommend or sell Goodman ever again and will spread the word. Have a blessed day.
Purchased a Goodman heat pump and air handler 09/09/08. I called Goodman and verbally gave them the serial numbers of both units and I also sent in the warranty card as well. 2013 unit started leaking freon so I had it topped off and the unit ran fine. 2015 leaks got worse so I called Goodman and they stated I sent in the warranty card 05/15/09? Data input error perhaps or did this happen when they cut over to a new system? Found out they did put in a new system but dont know when.Spoke to a male CSR rude and abrasive refused to let me talk to a supervisor but finally caved in. Spoke to Hema and she stated they had the serial # for the heat pump but no air handler so no warranty on the handler. Told her I called and mailed in the warranty card then was told they do the data input and then the cards are thrown away. My word against theirs? I thought the customers was always right? So much for that theory! I have called several times after that, no return calls. Theres a surprise! Although Hema was helpful but still no warranty.I like the unit and have very little problems with it until the leak, and now the warranty. What is the point of having a warranty and then not to honor it? So now they think I will get stuck with the bill... wrong! Got things to do and people to speak to about the warranty issue. This is just bad P/R on their behalf and I am sorry they are taking that stand. Will I buy another Goodman unit? Maybe not because of this warranty issue.
I have a Goodman heat pump that was installed in Dec 2009. It started leaking freon last year. Just 2 pounds. This year it started freezing up. Guess what? Needs more freon and r22 is high. Just found out r22 production will cease in 2016. This unit is leaking like crazy. Called Goodman. They say my unit is out of warranty because it wasnt registered in first 60 days. What? Is this a gimmick? Thought it came with a 10-year warranty. Seems like a easy way for them to get out of warranty for their products.Ive had cheap Walmart window units last longer than this piece of junk and way cheaper. I found a new a-coil for sale on internet for 500 bucks but found out it might leak when installed new. The a/c company said they would install one for 1500$. Are you kidding. This unit is out of warranty 6 months. Would have been better off paying extra for something better. Overall this will cost me much more in the long run. Goodman customer service is terrible as the guy there just kept saying to call one of their dealers. In my opinion Goodman needs to go out of business or do whats right and fix these faulty units.
Model ARUF486016BA Air handler. In this blog, I am not suggesting that you have to buy the very best and most expensive air-conditioner on the market, but just beware of doing business with Goodman. All of us who have owned homes and had to incur the expense of a new heat near unit are typically replacing units that are 15 to 20 years old not 7. I bought the Goodman 4 ton heat pump in early 2008. In 2010 I had a refrigerant leak so I called my repair company and they informed me that the evaporator coil which is the main coil in the air handler was bad and had a leak. He informed me then, that this was a very common problem. He had the coil replaced under warranty which I was shocked he did not cover the labor and $500 later my AC was working.About a year ago my AC wasnt cooling so I called the company and they came in and put some Freon and it and told me once again the coil was leaking. I asked them if they could get a hold of Goodman and/or the distributor to see if they would replace the old part once again they said no. I had them charge the unit up at $150 and it bought me another year. I just priced repairing the unit and it will be approximately $1200. I figured I would call Goodman and see if they would potentially replace that product once again given the class-action suits that Ive seen on the Internet and unhappy customers all over the United States. I spoke to the first line of communications and she informed me know theres nothing we I can do and I should just replace the whole unit. My question of her was do you have $5000 to spend on a condition of your house?I spoke to a supervisor this morning and pleaded my case and she had the audacity to say the evaporator coils may not have been installed properly or theyre not in a safe environment for our products. Really! The repair company that Ive been dealing with for so many years told me they havent sold Goodman products in a few years because of the problems they had. It is very interesting that pretty much the only AC units on eBay, Amazon, and Craigslist are Goodman units. I am going to replace my unit with another brand and one thing I learned is you dont have to spend top dollar on the unit, but to do have to do your diligence and feel comfortable with the manufacturer of the product. Shame on you Goodman Corporation for peddling that junk. No wonder there are class-action suits out there.
Over the past 6 years I purchased 4 gas packs which were installed by different HVAC installers at different homes. The motor has burned up on all 4 units. Two of them burned up after 2 years, one of them lasted 3 yrs and the last one just burned up after 5.5 years. Do not buy their products. Product GPG1324070M41
I had a 4 ton Goodman home air conditioner installed less than 5 years ago. The evaporator coil has already started leaking and is being replaced as I write this review. $625 to replace the coil and $75 handling fee from parts warehouse. My service tech tells me I was lucky to get 5 years and that he replaces these coils frequently. He found the leak in 1 minute. I called Goodman (877-254-4729) and they denied problems with their units and did not offer any compensation. Then I got on this website and read the reviews and got even more depressed. Ill never buy another Goodman (or Amana because I understand they use the same coil) and be sure to tell my story as often as possible.
We purchased a complete Goodman system from our HVAC company just a little over 5 years ago. It has already had a total system failure twice. The first time, the part had to be ordered and took about a week to get. This time, the blower has failed, and has to be replaced. The expected time is 2 weeks with no system. I cant believe at only 5 years, 2 major components fail. We live in a metro area of over 1,000,000 people, I dont know why parts are not readily available? That must be a sign of the volume of sales they have. In our opinion, these are very very low quality. No decent system would have 2 complete system failures at 5 years. And to think that a blower motor would fail at 5 years is a clear sign of the poor quality workmanship.
8 year unit, installed in a new house in 2013, Houston TX. 5 Ton. The coil was broken in 2017, had to replace it. This year 2021 the condenser had leaks EVERYWHERE! This was installed in a new built home. My husband passed away suddenly 2 days before the day of the closing back in 2013, and I had no time or clear head to learn about warranties. The crooked contractor never registered the unit under my name, and therefore when it broke this year I could not claim any warranty. Laws in Texas only benefit corporations but not the individuals. The manufacturers will give better price to contractors with licenses, and higher prices to home owners. If you own your house, make sure you register any device you buy under your name, specially if you are a lady, try to avoid service companies to buy devices. Most contractors (installers, distributors, repair companies) in Texas are vultures, awful rats, they will take your money and never disclose the real price they get from manufacturers. Goodman ethics sucks, same as the contractor JDS (David Sanabria) in Houston. For HVAC units save yourself aggravation and pain: Go with RHEEM, Bryant or Carrier.
I purchased my Goodman furnace and (so called 10 year warranty) through a contractor that was working for the builder who was building my addition. I never received the warranty registration form from the contractor that was suppose to be returned to Goodman within 60 days. I had a fan replaced within the first year that worked its way loose filling my house with smoke with no questions asked. Eight years later the same fan has bearing problems requiring another fan costing $640.73. Goodman now tells me it is no longer under warranty because the registration was never filed. Consumer Affairs could tell me when (the contractor) purchased the unit but they couldnt warranty it. The moral of this review is Goodman cant sell the unit to the consumer but they expect you to register it if your supplied with all necessary information from your blue collared installer. Im told that a fan problem is not a common problem in HVAC units but very costly. Theres much better quality than Goodman manufacturing.
I bought a Goodman heat pump model GsZ160361bd, serial no 1903096018 brand new and had it installed by a “license technician“. The unit broke in less than 18 months and required repairs that cost me approximately $1600 in labor. The part were covered by the manufacturer. But no customer should have to spend that much money on a heat pump that was purchased new. I believe Goodman Manufacturing has junk heat pumps and I recommend anyone looking to buy a new unit to look at the other manufacturer. Also make sure it is a sister brand name to Goodman. The customer support is of no use to the customer who purchased their product. All you get is scripted reply to call a license contract to fix their junk product! At your own cost! This is a real experience. Do not buy!
Since March 2020 the following parts failed in our four-ton unit and had to be replaced. One new compressor to replace the original part that comes with the box.Two air handler fans. One to replace the original comes with the box and a second to replace the first replacement. Three main CPU logic boards. One to replace the one that comes with the box and the others to replace the replacement parts. The company we purchased the A/C units from has been very, very helpful and should get five stars out of five for the efforts put into making this right. The smaller, 2 1/2 ton unit that was purchased and installed at the same time has had no issues.
The 5 ton Goodman HVAC unit in my new construction home had a catastrophic failure over a week ago. Would not hold a charge more than 24 hours. My HVAC guy calls Goodman for a replacement coil under warranty. They tell him the part is not available. The unit is only 2 years old! Have been on the phone with Caroline, Kristin, Megan and the other Megan in warranty and they cant tell me when the part will be shipped. What good is a warranty if you dont have the parts to honor it? Trying to support American business and this is what I get... Complete and utter incompetence!
All I can say is, I had a York system that was 20+ yrs. old, and the original condenser fan. And my new Goodman unit has a condenser fan that is louder than my old unit. Maybe Goodman needs to put more $ and effort into research and development. If I had known, would never have bought a Goodman.
I purchased a Goodman unit after doing a lot of research. I am so sorry I spent 6000.00 on this unit. This is the worse purchase of my entire life. I have had 13 services calls replacing coil, motor, condenser and now the compressor. Consumer Affairs are absolutely NO help and frankly they dont give a damn. So it leaves me nothing else but to hire a lawyer and call channel 8 to get some satisfaction. Goodman consumer affairs does not care nor offer to help. I have never received such crappy customer service. Their attitude is too bad so sad. I am a widow living on Social Security and cant afford a new unit. I asked about the lemon law and they thought I was nuts. I requested a New unit and will not even talk about it. I am very disappointed in this piece of garbage. How can you sell people such shabby workmanship? So as I sit in my home in Florida for the 5th night at 10:35 PM it is 88 degrees in my house. It goes as high as 99 degrees and the unit is still NOT fixed and nothing in site. Oh they offered to replace Condenser 10 year warranty BUT I have to pay for installation, parts, and Freon. WHICH IS THOUSANDS money I do NOT have.
With proper maintenance, a furnace should last two years or more but Goodman doesnt even have a half life. I put in the first Goodman 10 years ago. The heat exchanger failed in less than two years and the entire furnace was replaced under warranty in March 2007. I had to pay for labor. The heat exchanger has now failed again at the end of winter, rendering the furnace dangerous and unusable. Nobody local has a heat exchanger so it must be shipped from Texas. Im told to pay for shipping and labor. Despite talking to Goodman on the phone, the company didnt tell me it would be backordered nor would it airship to me despite the weather. A consumer affairs supervisor never called me back. My family will be without heat in the Northeast for about three weeks because of Goodmans failure as a quality manufacturer and one whose customer service is disrespectful, unresponsive and extremely poor. Do not ever consider a Goodman and if your HVAC company or supplier recommends Goodman - find a different company because they reflect the companies they carry.
