While at my parents house they described a plastic odor from their Kitchen Aid Convection oven when the oven is used (all electric). I turned the power off inspected the connections on the outlet for the oven and also the connections to the oven itself. All are tight and no signs of heating up etc. I plugged everything back in and we turned it on, nothing at first but after about 3-5 minutes you could smell an odor from the upper portion of the unit. Again turned everything off, opened up the back panel and there it was, the oven control board had a larger connector which feeds power to the oven elements and it was melted to the board. I removed the board for replacement. A local company near us (Servall) had a heck of a time finding this part and the connector as well, the board is manufactured by Eletrolux but is in the Kitchen Aid. As of now, the cooktop just works but no displays since the oven control board also controls the displays. I am a master electrician with in-depth knowledge of controls, there has to be something wrong with the board from Electrolux which has been causing all the headaches for all these customers. I am not sure if the self cleaning function has been used but will recommend that it not be used unless someone is there and they want a possible fire. What a shame and shame on Kitchen Aid for not doing something for all these people who have paid in excess of $1000.00 for a heater. Buy another brand and let other know about it as well, Electrolux is a large company or brand that is well known in Europe for its quality, too bad Kitchen Aid botched this one up. Someone needs to step up to the plate make it right before someone gets hurt. You can fix a house but not a life.

We have 2 KitchenAid dishwashers, supposed to be made by the same folks, with the top rack for silverware. This model is awful, would not recommend it at all. You have to raise the rack up every time you put something in the 2nd rack. If you lower the 2nd rack so it doesnt hit the 3rd then you cant put plates on the 3rd or lowest rack. What a mess. Had the appliance folks come out and they say there is nothing that can be done. This is an expensive dishwasher to have such a lousy system. We know KitchenAid knows how to get this done. Bad on us. Dont do the same....

We bought the KitchenAid refrigerator in 2013. It was on clearance at Lowes. Now I know why it was a great deal, because they have problems with them. As I read the reviews from other consumers, we have the same exact problem with the freezer. It leaks water and freezes on the tray after 1 year. We have to break up the ice and empty it out every two weeks. The ice maker quit making ice after three years and now I just shut off the ice maker. My husband bought me a KitchenAid mixer for Christmas 2015 and after a year of sitting on the counter I decided to use it. It literally Sucks. I have had my Sunbeam Mixer for over 15 years, Im still happy to use it. I will never buy KitchenAid, Whirlpool, Amana Product again.

From the outset ice maker dropped. Imbedded water stains. Purchased 7 different stainless steel cleaners including at Karl’s where I bought this fridge. None worked. No support from retailer. The freezer clogs and frosts and has been repaired twice. The compartments are too narrow. Would never recommend this fridge.

What a croc! We bought our house on May 12, 2012. The house was only 1-year-old at the time and had nice, shiny, new KitchenAid appliances in it. Last week I used the self-clean on my wall oven. After 3 hours and cooled, I wiped out the oven of the debris and found that the pretty blue interior has now changed to ugly grey. I didnt use the oven for a few days after cleaning, but when I did use it, it wouldnt heat up. I tried several times on several different days and temps, and followed the manual on troubleshooting to no avail. So I called the builder and the supplier. I was told only 1 year warranty on appliances. I would have to call a repairman. Well thats just great. For the price that these appliances cost, you would think they would have a better guarantee. Still waiting on what its going to cost me. After reading all these other reviews, if I need a new oven you bet your ** it wont be a KitchenAid.

I purchased an expensive refrigerator based on previous experience with KitchenAid. In 2003 I purchased a refrigerator, stove and dishwasher. No calls ever to the customer service for any problems. They lasted 14 years. Thats why I went with them again. BIG BIG MISTAKE. This refrigerator Model#KRMF706ESS has been a problem since I plugged it in. I have missed almost two weeks of work waiting for technicians. I have had many service calls for the same issue and Im still not sure if its resolved. The last technician came out last week and within days my refrigerator is broken again. We started seeing puddles on the floor. The ice was melting in the container. We emptied container and now it doesnt make ice. I called KitchenAid, nothing they can do, when is enough, enough with these people. There was nothing wrong with the money I gave them for the refrigerator. I purchased a new appliance and its been nothing but a pain. They have replaced the same part three times. It still wont fix the problem. I am beyond frustrated. If I could give negative stars I would. When I contact the customer service department its like I am bothering them and wasting their time. They are wasting mine. Customer Service is a thing of the past with their rude customer service people and they dont care now that they have my money. It wasnt working right from the start and it continues to be a problem. I have lost faith in my refrigerator. I dont know if I could go on holidays and leave this appliance on. I wonder if anyone else is having a problem with this refrigerator. The service guy said that they have had nothing but problems with this model. They didnt test it long enough. I guess whoever buys it is a guinea pig. I would never ever ever recommend anyone to buy KitchenAid again. This is the absolute worst service. Since Day 1 it hasnt worked properly. They tell me in order for it to be replaced it has to not be cooling. A technician has to report to them that it is unrepairable and then after he does that, they send it to their engineers and then they see if they can come up with a solution. They could care less how many days of work I miss. They are waiting for my warranty to expire so they can take me to the cleaners for the continued work I know will have to be done once it is out of warranty. Thats the day they are waiting for... class action... thats the day I am waiting for. I know its only $5000.00 but it has cost me more than that now with all the time off work. What happened to the days where companies actually cared about the customer??? I was told the first time I bought the KitchenAid back in 2003 was when it was KitchenAid KitchenAid, now it is KitchenAid Whirlpool and now it sucks!!!!

We wanted top of the line appliances to last through our retirement in our new home. We purchased KitchenAid. Our freezer stopped freezing and when we called for repair they said that even though a ten year warranty existed for major parts, it could not be repaired. We are disappointed at the results that we have received from KitchenAid for they wanted to send yet one more repairman, who would charge us an unreasonable amount and we would need to pay for repairs if they could be made. Retired persons need to believe that they can depend on purchases to last.

Purchased a KitchenAid microwave in 2014 to replace a microwave with a broken door release mechanism. 3 years later, the same thing is happening to the KitchenAid. Door wont open when depressing the button. Seems to be a common occurrence if you check YouTube. The selling dealer offered to sell us a new one for $400. Wrote KitchenAid and was told the unit was out of warranty and if there was a problem, it would have shown up in the first few months of ownership. I didnt expect them to give me a new one for free, maybe just fix this one or offer some assistance with the expense. Two microwaves in 6 years? I will find another brand next time. Reliability, durability, and customer service are all oxymorons when it comes to KitchenAid microwaves.

In January of 2013 I bought a KUDE70FXSS dishwasher. It was a top line model and I wanted to buy local. The racks are now rusting out as they come with nonpermanent little plastic caps at the end of the racks. We didnt realize they were gone and now the whole rack is starting to rust to the point where new caps wont fit on the racks. How wonderful! I paid over $1400.00 for this unit and now its rusting out. What a poor design. KitchenAid or my supplier P.C. Richard wont cover it because its considered cosmetics . I should have bought a German dishwasher! Im disgusted! You try to do the right thing!

Very disappointed with Kitchen Aid refrigerator quality. This is 2nd one. First one was replaced by Kitchen Aid after many attempts at repair. The ice maker spewed out water into refrigerator trays, water dispenser not working properly, pathetic (not wholly formed) looking ice cubes, ice buildup around ice cube dispenser chute and under ice maker. This one has similar ice maker problems as first except water dispenser works and water doesnt spew from ice maker to same degree as first refrigerator. Now after 2 years the LED lights on the top and in the freezer compartment have gone out except for one dot in the middle of each light set. After replacing the freezer light without fixing the problem, authorized repairman thinks a new computer board at over $1,000 MAY fix the problem. Refrigerator costing over 3 grand needs 1 grand repair after less than 3 years of residential use. Spend your money elsewhere.

Did you know KitchenAid is owned by Whirlpool which includes Maytag, Jenn-Air, Amana, Kitchen Aid... Pretty much all the heavy hitters from the US fall under the Whirlpool umbrella now. Just keep that in mind as read through all of these disappointing posts about quality, service and general safety. I, like many, replaced my entire kitchen with what I believed was the TOP quality KitchenAid appliances. I bought the KEMS308SSS05 which is a Micro/Convection oven combination. Its failed now 5 times since I purchased new in 2012. I am 4 months outside of the 2 year warranty but the first problems (for which theyve never corrected because it continues to happen) started with the first 90 days.I get sometimes there are lemons at ANY company, we are humans and were not perfect, but a company when realizing their faults need to step up and cure the deficiencies. Thats the difference between an average company and a great company, and sadly whirlpool seems no longer to be or even want to be a great company.

I own a KitchenAid refrigerator, range, over the range microwave and dishwasher. Overall I am not dissatisfied with these machines. They have electronic controls and I have become accustom to phantom beeps from these machines. What I hate is this microwave. I put something in there to warm it up. Once the cycle is over this microwave sounds an annoying tone that never stops until the door is opened. You turn off the tone though the programming but the change is only good until my homes power cycles off and on. Thank you power company. Even the seat belt alarm in my car shuts up after a brief time. I can fall asleep after I put a bag of popcorn in this microwave and it sounds off all night! Please!

The knobs on this range are made plastic on metal posts. The first knob wore and broke within the first year of using the range. The ceramic top range is slow to heat and then superheats once cooking begins. The oven temps are way variable and cooking times are way off from recipes. I have ordered two new knobs at the cost of almost $40 and I know that the other two should be replaced as they will break any day. I use my range nearly every day and thought that KitchenAid was a good brand when I bought it. I am sorry to say that I do not recommend that anyone buy this brand right now. This is our 2nd Kitchen Aid dishwasher. The first lasted 15 years, which is why we went back to the company. The top rack on this one is plastic (terrible idea!) and had to be replaced. I went to the Lowes where we bought it and the new design is steel ball bearings - much better. But that leaves me and my family in the lurch with an $800 dishwasher that needs an upper rack every 2 years. Lowes and Kitchen Aid have not been helpful, I had to buy parts, $75, to install myself because I didnt want to pay an additional cost to have a repairman come to the house. I think either Lowes or Kitchen Aid should step forward with a better solution.

It takes longer to run a cycle and has lower pressure than my previous Inglis model. Items on the top shelf sometimes are not thoroughly cleaned. Saniclean and pro scrub need to be activated to get a thorough cleaning. Normal wash is not adequate. Deep tub, and it has 3 racks, so lots of room to place items. Wish the third rack had an impeller to clean items in it. Stainless steel front with controls on the top of the door hidden. Very nice packaging. Take extended warranty, run the cleaner through once every couple of months to get rid of the scum build up. Clean the internal filter every couple of months also. The Steam venting port damages your wooden cabinets next to the dishwasher. I had to put a plastic liner on the inside of the cabinet (facing the dishwasher) to stop the moisture from damaging the cabinet.

We purchased a KitchenAid wall oven KEBS107SSS in March 2012. This oven does not turn off and just keeps hot air blowing into the kitchen for at least an hour or longer after pushing the off button. The sales person at the high end appliance store we purchased it from said to turn off the power to the oven, which we did as it had a dedicated breaker switch. Then the oven just latched automatically, wouldnt open, and had a nice error message on the screen. Took the repairman over two weeks to get the part to fix the latch as he said that was the problem.... thats why the oven doesnt turn off efficiently??? I cant get anyone from KitchenAid to even answer my phone calls and I truly dont think the repairman has a clue as to why this oven wont turn off. Do not buy a KitchenAid oven. We are so disappointed in this appliance, but cant afford to get it replaced. Stuck with it, but it will probably completely break down in the next two to three years.

We purchased our KitchenAid Dishwasher KUDE40FXSS1 5 years ago. Although it washes the dishes well, to date we have replaced an upper basket wheel mechanism 6 times and now ALL of the wheels on the lower basket have broken due to being brittle from the high temperatures required to clean the dishes. We are so disappointed in the CHEAP plastic used inside the dishwasher! The last time we replaced one of the upper mechanisms, the part came with some metal pieces. Brilliant! Why didnt they think of this is the beginning? So far, it is working well! We are now in the process of replacing the lower wheel mechanisms - all four of them. Until those parts arrive, we have to delicately pull out and push in the lower basket or the wheels fall off. Thank goodness we can replace the parts ourselves. I feel sorry for the people who have to get a repairman in. The cost to us has been substantial, I cant imagine what it might cost to pay someone to fix it! I will never buy another KitchenAid Dishwasher and I tell anyone who asks to never get one either!

I purchased the French door with bottom freezer style fridge from KitchenAid and couldnt be happier. It was bought at a Scratch and Dent store, which made me a bit uneasy for any possible damages that may show up later, but so far everything has been great. Fairly quiet in our open layout kitchen / living room floor plan.I love that it has a water spout on the inside, leaving the exterior clean without the typical water/ice dispenser eyesore. Also leaves less room for broken parts to be fixed. 8 months of ownership so far and the only thing we had to change was the water pressure on the spout. Very easy.

We bought all new appliances 4 years ago. The salesman at the appliance store said KitchenAid was the best. Well apparently he must get a kickback from them because nothing could be further from the truth. In fact the KF1S29BBMS00 french door refrigerator actually sucks! Shortly after we had it the freezer stopped freezing. At least this was covered by a recall. Now, the unit is 4 years old, the ice maker stops working. We called the repair place and they came out and very cavalierly said, Oh yeah there is a service bulletin on this. You need an add on kit to stop the unit from freezing up.OK to my thinking service bulletin is an admission of wrongdoing. Poor design in the first place. So since the unit is out of warranty and we chose not to pay for a ripoff extended warranty we have to pay over $430 to fix what was not designed right in the first place! How can this be our fault? Why would we need a warranty to cover a design flaw? Now while waiting for the repair person to come back with the part that they had to order the drawer in the freezer will not freeze. The lower main compartment is fine but the door will not freeze. DO NOT BUY A KITCHENAID APPLIANCE. Their poor design and engineering becomes your problem.

I purchased a 30 KitchenAid gas range with 5 burners from a local independent appliance dealership that I am familiar with and that I trust. I paid more than 1,140 dollars for this range and was very excited to have it. However, it soon became apparent that the Aqualift Clean System fell short of what its marketed to be. In essence, it doesnt work to get the appliance clean as it is promoted to. Following the manufacturers instructions precisely, I have tried to clean this range six times over the 8 weeks or so that Ive had it and each time was a failure. The floor of the oven comes clean but thats about it. The walls, back, roof, and door do not come clean. The problem is complicated further by the fact that these ovens are made with a Teflon coating on the inside that will be damaged by typical commercial cleaners, so essentially you end up with a self-cleaning oven that cant be cleaned no matter how hard you scrub it. DO NOT PURCHASE ANY OVEN WITH THE AQUALIFT CLEAN SYSTEM. IT DOESNT WORK and the manufacturer is no help at all when you call customer service.

You have been fair warned. If you still buy a KitchenAid refrigerator after reading this then you have no right to complain. Total piece of junk - completely failed after less than 2 years. We lost several hundred dollars of food. Apt Appliances offered to do nothing but charge a $165 service call with a $400 labor minimum. This is after I bought ALL my appliances from them for a new house build. I called KitchenAid and they too denied warranty until I really started complaining and only then did they remember that there is some 2-4 year warranty covering many major parts and I could just purchase a warranty plan for $300 odd dollars to cover labor. They have zero pride in their product. I know the days of 30 year old appliances are gone, but 2 years - really???? Furthermore, their customer service people were aloof and rude. The best I can hope for is a class action law suit. Hopefully some law firm does a search that that term and stumbles upon these posts and takes action against them. This is what I get for buying made in America? Hopefully Honda will start making appliances!!!! In closing, may Satan curse KitchenAid.

I used the self-cleaning cycle for the first time on my KitchenAid (Model: YKESS970) electric range which cost me over $2,500. The oven is now a year and a half old and completely finished. The door is locked and the display panel is not working at all. I called KitchenAid and they said that the parts might be still under warranty but we have to pay the labor of $81 just for them to show up, plus $19 every 15 minutes (the first 15 minutes are free). Wow!

We purchased a new home with KitchenAid appliances and from day 1, my wall microwave did not work and my stove malfunctioned. I called to register my products and was given a quote for an extended warranty (because apparently I am going to need it with these garbage appliances). I was told that they had to ship me some parts, which were out of stock and that I had to wait. After a month, I received the wrong part and called back. I was told the right part I needed was out of stock and had to wait again. After several weeks, I was told that they no longer made my microwave and that they would be sending me a new one. I was told that I could not get the extended warranty at this time because I would be getting a new microwave and if I bought the warranty now, I would have to pay extra to add my new microwave once it came. After several more weeks, the microwave came in and it was a countertop microwave, not a wall microwave. Obviously, it did not fit in my wall cabinet so the installers had to make modifications for it to fit. This whole process took about 3 months to resolve and I did not have a working microwave. Next, my oven malfunctioned with an error code and it would not turn off. I called customer service again, armed with my extended warranty price quote because clearly these appliances have significant issues. I was told that it is common for the error code to appear on my double wall oven model and that I had to shut my power off and on for it to reset. When I complained and said that it was unacceptable, I was told that it was an unfortunate situation involving these appliances and nothing could be done. I asked about my extended warranty, ready to shell out hundreds more on these appliances so that I could get them replaced when they break (which is clearly going to happen). I was told that the price had now gone up over 100.00 because it had been over a month since I registered my appliances. I told Jasmine, the call taker that I had a faulty microwave and had to wait months for a new one, so that is why I did not get the warranty when I first got the quote. She told me repeatedly that there was nothing that she could do and the quote was computer generated and she could not change the price. I asked for a supervisor and was told that Amber (supervisor) wanted me to know that she could not change the price either.I have decided not to purchase the extended warranty on these products. I spent over $10,000 on my gourmet kitchen and now I am stuck with these expensive appliances that will no doubt breakdown again and again. For now, I will make sure my flashlight batteries are charged up so I can make the trip to re-set my circuit breaker each time my oven acts up. Thanksgiving should be especially fun.

I purchased a KitchenAid Microwave in October 2013. The plastic on the bottom of the door handle crumbled leaving a sharp edge and wobbly handle. I contacted Kitchenaid and they told me that they could send someone out for $99 to take a look. This is 20% of the price of the microwave. Materials science has gotten better over the years, but the quality of Kitchenaid appliances has declined sharply. I thought that I was buying a quality product because of the Kitchenaid name. They dont even stand behind their workmanship. The customer service agent did a great job of apologizing to me but not rectifying my concern.

Our 9 year old KBRS22KMSS $3500 fridge died and though KAid will replace compressor, it will cost $500 in labor and will not guarantee it will fix issue. To top it all off, the service man snickered as he looked at our $5700 pro series oven as he was leaving and commented on how many issues they had and the parts are not available so off to the scrap yard. I will never buy KA, WHIRLPOOL, AMANA, MAYTAG OR JENNAIR products ever again.

We do not use the dishwasher heavily and our water temperature is set to 120 F (temperature is listed as a possible cause of failure). After only a little over a year, the dishwasher started leaking to the point where we had to get it serviced. Our neighbors have had a similar problem, so this is not an isolated case. This is really shocking. I am completely disgusted with the quality of this appliance.

We purchased a brand new home in November of 2012 and ever since day one of operating our KitchenAid oven Model # KEBS109BSS00, we have had this awful metal on metal rattling noise. After contacting KitchenAid warranty repair department, they have sent Three different companies out over 18 visits to repair the issue. We have been informed that there are only two moving parts to the oven and both parts have been replaced TWICE. Also, we have had new extra insulation kits and exterior panels replaced, tightened, loosened, and so on and so on... to no avail. The oven still makes the awful noise through all three operating cycles. Kitchen Aid has been horrible with helping us repair this oven. They claim that some of the visits will not count because the tech that came out for the repair did not log a claim attached with the serial number of the unit. So we basically wasted half a day and and still have a broken oven. I will NEVER buy a kitchen aid oven again, cheap product and terrible customer service. Even the technicians they send out are saying that there is nothing more that can be done and they need to replace the unit but to be prepared that Kitchen Aid will fight us on that but 18 visits at $144 a pop they have already spent more than the oven is worth.

The ice maker drops ice on top of the trigger arm and when the tray is pulled out, ice gets dragged back onto the freezer floor and sometimes bounces out onto kitchen floor. We bought this KitchenAid stainless steel 5-Door French door refrigerator at Best Buy in Nov 2016. After a couple of days of installation, we noticed the freezer frosting, so we went back to Best Buy and requested a replacement. The replacement same model refrigerator was delivered in Dec. In Jan 2017, the same frosting problem occurred. We called Best Buy asking to get it replaced again but told us to call KitchenAid because the purchase date was already over 1 month. Called KitchenAid and asked them if we can just get the refrigerator replaced or get a refund and told them that Ive read a lot of reviews about this refrigerator with freezer frosting and that KitchenAid should have known about this problem already. But KitchenAid customer service lack knowledge. All they know is schedule repairs. From here started the repair process. Theyve sent this repair people several times (6x) already coming up with different ways to fix the problem but the freezer frosting still persist. This last fix that KitchenAid tech support told the repair people is to replace the door and it will take 4-6 wks to get the part. It is very inconvenient. All Im asking KitchenAid is give us a refund since it is new so we can get a good working refrigerator. But all they can do is schedule a repair.

I purchased this fridge in early 2013. The ice bin latch has not worked since last summer. The bin does not stay latched and come forward the next time the draw is opened. When I called Kitchen Aid, expecting to speak with a customer service tech about the problem, the only option they offered was to forward me to an independent parts distributor. I did not want to purchase a new ice bin or schedule a costly service call if there was something I could do with the help of an over the phone technician. The distributor informed me that Kitchen Aid does not offer over the phone support and my only option was to call for a service technician to come to the house. Is it true there is no customer service support? That is a huge disappointment. After paying thousands of dollars for these appliances the customer is on their own. Also the quality of the stainless steel is poor. I find it difficult to clean and it dents very easily. I had another band stainless steel fridge for fifteen years, when my kids were small and crashing into everything, and it never dented. Now there are only adults in the household and it already has three dents. It is extremely upsetting to have a dented appliance in my brand new kitchen. I was planning to purchase all Kitchen Aid appliances in my new kitchen, but fortunately decided to go with a Bosch dishwasher and a Sharp microwave, which are of much better quality. I will not recommend or purchase another Kitchen Aid appliance.

We are in a new condo and wanted our new refrigerator to be counter depth. I always thought of KitchenAid as a high end brand than other manufacturers and they made a counter depth stainless steel refrigerator. The cost was a lot more but we thought we would get a quality product. In less than 3 months outside water dispenser came on each time we used the ice maker. The outside water ran for a short time each time. Because of the worldwide Corona virus we were not willing to call a repair person to come into our home. Each time the water would run down the front of the stainless steel refrigerator and I would wipe it up. In spite of polishing it the stainless steel door on the freezer side became stained with watermarks. Over a couple of months of polishing the the stainless discolored looks rusty.a It is not yet a year old.We called a repair person three weeks ago and we are being told the ice maker will be replaced under warranty. I plan to contact the store we bought this and ask for the front doors to be replaced or the refrigerator to be replaced. We live in Mexico and bought this at a well established store with a great reputation. Friends of ours bought a different brand refrigerator and the stainless steel is much heavier and a better quality. I have also compared the stainless on the front of other refrigerator manufacturers and many are more superior to the KitchenAid. What has happened to the KitchenAid brand? If I could rate my experience lower than one star I would. BUYERS DO YOUR HOMEWORK. ITS NOT WORTH BUYING A KITCHENAID REFRIGERATOR.

We went with the KitchenAid suite of appliances because we liked the reviews we read about the dual fuel double oven range (KDRS505X). I like my oven a lot....except the cooking surface scratches so easily! How am I ever going to clean around the burners when it seems the surface scratches when barely touched. Our microwave hood (KHMS2040) had turned out to be a terrible choice. The vent fan is horribly loud. Service came out to look at it about 3 weeks ago and determined we needed a new motor. (That wont come for another 3 weeks). This past weekend, the fan AND microwave suddenly turned on by itself. The microwave light came on and the turntable started turning. And it was louder than ever. We couldnt turn it off by pushing the cancel button or the fan button. Finally had to unplug it. Now we are afraid to leave it plugged in. What if it turned on by itself and we werent home? Scary.

My top-of-the-line KitchenAid gas stove has had an electronic control panel
My top-of-the-line KitchenAid gas stove has had an electronic control panel failure twice now. The first time it’s just the oven that would not light and one of the panels (there are evidently 3) was faulty and was replaced under warranty. The second time the electronic control panel short-circuited and turned on the convection fan, which got red hot. Sparks and smoke were coming from under the burners, which is where the panels are located. I was not using the stove at all, but thankfully I was home! I was able to throw the circuit breaker in the basement. When the stove stopped glowing red, I pulled it out from the wall and unplugged it. The repairman that first came is no longer available. I have not been able to find anyone that has a card for both electric and gas. Customer service expressed regret that they could not help me find a repairman, but said to let them know should I find one. What? I will not repair this stove. I consider it an extremely dangerous appliance and do not want it in my house. I feel that Whirlpool should do everything they can to correct the situation for other consumers. We bought a KA frig in 2005. We should have learned from that experience. Week 1 everything in frig and freezer was freezing. Service came out 3 times. Finally they removed whole freezer side door (the brains of the unit) and brought a whole new door. Wouldnt replace whole thing just the door. While putting on new door they scratched and scuffed up unit. Yr later ice maker broke. Had to have new ice maker. We have continued to have trouble with it and it is messy. Ice gets hung in shoot, come home water on the floor. Finally stopped using it and went back to ice trays. We paid 2200 for this unit. We redid kitchen in Jan 2011. New slide in range above stove vent a hood vented thru the roof and microwave and new dishwasher. We dont cook a lot. We use the dishwasher maybe 3 times a week. It would not complete cycles but not consistent on which one then the panel lights started staying on, then off. Then it stopped working. After reading reviews we started the breaker thing. Now nothing. It wont be 4 yrs old until Jan 28, 2014 and remember used MAYBE 3 times a week. :( The writing on my knobs on the stovetop rubbed off the first time I cleaned them. The oven temperature has never been right. We have tried to adjust it but no luck. The oven does not cook evenly either. The vent a hood does not draw good. We paid a lot of money for these appliances. I previously was a Jenn Air fan... Loved loved loved Jenn Air. The ONLY reason we went KitchenAid was because the dealer in my town which we have always purchased from stopped selling Jenn Air. If we didnt purchase from them they dont work on it. So after they assured us how good KitchenAid was (even tho we had problems immediately with our fridge supposedly a freak occurrence) we went with the KitchenAid. BIG HUGE mistake. NOW the dealer we bought from so they would work on it for us has gone out of business after 60 yrs. They retired. :( Now I had to call 800 number to find someone. I have been waiting a week and a half and still no call for my appt date. We will never purchase KitchenAid again. Bad product and very costly. :(

Upper rack was over designed with too many moving features causing inherent weaknesses in plastic components. One year after use started the first plastic tabs started breaking. Without buying a whole new rack there was only one option. Had to figure out stainless steel bolts and nuts to replace broken tabs. Tedious but do-able. I believe most people (probably 95%) do not adjust the racks anyway because they are complicated to adjust. Why build things that break? Just keep it simple! Otherwise this dishwasher works great. It is very quiet and washes well. Clean look. If they would make the upper rack as simple as the bottom rack it would be bullet proof. But no, the Kitchenaid engineers and marketing people had to complicate it by putting in breakable features most people do not use. Thanks for messing up an otherwise great product. Now figuring out my fourth set of bolts to keep the upper rack in place and gliding like it should.

Salesman assured me that this was a wonderful stove, etc., etc. so I was suckered into buying it. Soon after the purchase, I used the oven... and SURPRISE - the stainless-looking knobs heated so much that I couldnt touch them! Customer service told me that this is normal and even professional chefs have to use oven mitts on certain stoves. (Can you believe that!?) After several calls, I finally got a rep. who sent me black knobs that are made of more heat resistant material. (I wasnt charged for them, so that tells you that they wanted to keep me quiet). That should have clued me in on this product. After approx. 2 months, one of the circuits went out and had to be replaced. My biggest complaint now is the dirty inner glass of the oven door. I called customer service and was told that since the appliance is more than a year old, and out of warranty, they will have to charge me a service call for their technician to clean it. The woman told me that this is common for this particular range!! (Again, can you believe it!??) I told her that this is a design flaw and there should be a complete seal to prevent this. As I write this, my oven is being repaired for the fourth time, for the same problem. Since it is out of warranty, I will be paying for this. When you try to self-clean, it goes for an hour or two, then stops, giving an error code because the plastic, yes plastic, around the latch has melted, and the oven thinks the door is open. The repairman this time told me to never again try to self clean the oven. It will just keep happening! This oven is about 6 years old, but this has been happening since it was just over a year old. Also, even when it did clean in the beginning, the glass door does not actually get clean, particularly the space left between the two panes of glass, again yes, a space left open. I would suggest the designer of this oven be punished by having to use it. Clearly these should have been recalled or replaced by KitchenAid, as they are aware of the problem. But no such luck, at least not that I am aware of.

Advised that cosmetics such as rust or discoloration after 30 days from date of purchase are not something they will address. Advised that they do not sell warranty for rust or discoloration. My Kitchen Aid stainless steel range which was purchased at the same time also has a spot where it is discolored. I expect this is only the beginning. The stainless steel used is manufacturing Kitchen Aid is obviously VERY poor quality. When I asked both the customer rep and the manager if Kitchen Aid considered it okay that their products should begin rusting after 2 years, they stated that they were only saying that after 30 days cosmetic issues like rust and other discoloration is not something they can help with. Nor is it something that they will warrant. If you are looking for your appliances to look good in your kitchen for more than a couple of years, I do not recommend Kitchen Aid.

Kitchenaid khms2056sss-2 microwave - Microwave keeps beeping for no reason. Often controls are frozen and cannot be accessed for several minutes. Randomly selects cooking task such as reheating pizza or melting butter with no input from owner. Even after the microwave is unplugged for 5 seconds, it still starts up its beeping without input or any reason. Each time the unit is unplugged, the owner resets the time and date as requested by the screen. The light for the microwave does not go on adequately to see what is cooking. Due to the design, the window is so high that it takes steps to see into the oven.

I remodeled the kitchen in 2007. Refrigerator, freezer, 2-drawer dishwasher and combo micro and oven all broke down in Nov. of 2012. I called service for all appliances to be fixed. Freezer was fixed w/ new motor (service man stated KitchenAid knew of the problem for many years w/ no recall). After 3 months and 2 servicemen from different companies, oven is still not fixed. The parts KitchenAid suggested to these servicemen did not work. KitchenAid again knew of a problem with both ovens and did not recall. After many months without any ovens, I called KitchenAid. I asked for suggestions. All I got from the customer service rep was silence .... and then a sorry. He told me that he could not help in anyway. I spent $3200 on these ovens that only worked for 5 years and I cannot get parts to fix them. I will never purchase a KitchenAid appliance again.

I placed a review on this site regarding a catastrophic failure of a door seal on our very expensive fridge 3 years to the date after purchase. After numerous conversations with the Canadian warranty department and being told the part was not warrantied after one year I ordered a door seal from another provider and replaced the seal. I then wrote the review.Much to my surprise on Dec 4 The manager of Canadian Operations for Customer Relations Whirlpool contacted me to advise us they were prepared to send a service technician out to replace the seal at no cost to us. I advised the Manager that I had already replaced the seal and what the cost was. The Manager advised me to send him a copy of my receipt and that Whirlpool would reimburse me for any out of pocket costs for the seal replacement. This was a very pleasant surprise indeed and has replaced my faith in the KitchenAid product as they DO stand behind their product. There may be a takeaway here for Whirlpool to make it easier for Canadian clients to escalate a problem. A customer relations email address, phone number?

My husband and I purchased a custom home in November of 2010. We wanted high end appliances in our new kitchen and have about $25K in KitchenAid products in our kitchen. The largest expense was our built-in refrigerator (model number KSSC42KVS). We paid $8,000.00 for this supposed high end refrigerator. 2 and a half years later, it sits completely dead in my kitchen. The past 3 months have been a nightmare. First, the ice maker assembly had to be replaced at a cost of about $400.00. The cheap plastic arm that closes the ice chute stopped working and allowed warm air to move into the freezer, then the compressor kicked in overtime trying to cool the compartment. 3 days after the ice maker was replaced, the refrigerator side stopped holding its temperature. The compressor would kick on, the freezer would drop to -10 and the fridge temp would go up to 56-60 degrees. The repairman was out again. This time he replaced the damper door assembly which allows the air to move from the freezer side into the the fridge side. Cost me $700.00. Again, everything was OK for about the 3 days and then the same problem happened again. The repairman was out again and this time replaced the thermistors. Again 3-4 days works properly, then compressor kicks on, freezer down to -10 and fridge up to 56. All this time my technician is conferring with Whirlpool technical support and following their recommendations. Now Whirlpool says the main circuit board is bad. It cannot be repaired because all of the inventory was wiped out by the tsunami in 2010. I will have to wait 2-3 weeks while my board is shipped out to a 3rd party vendor to be rebuilt. Now I am out another $600 as we had to buy a cheap fridge to put in our garage because my $8,000.00 is unusable. The board comes in, the repairman puts it in and within an hour after him leaving, the whole fridge just shuts off. The rebuilt board is bad. The repairman is back with a new board.. The fridge works fine for 3 days and then on June 27th, the same problem is back. I let it run for a couple of days and by the 29th, now the freezer isnt holding temp either. Both fridge and freezer are at 60 degrees. I called the repairman again and he tells me that Whirlpool is saying that they are out of ideas. My 2-year-old, $8,000.00 refrigerator has some electrical problem and it cannot be repaired. I will have to buy a new one. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? If I would have known what terrible quality KitchenAid is, I would have spent another $1,000.00 back in 2010 and bought a Sub Zero. Please do not be fooled into thinking that KitchenAid is high end and high quality!

I have a KitchenAid stainless steel side by side built in fridge. In August 2015, it started beeping constantly. I had a KitchenAid service person to my home. Immediately, thereafter, my fridge stopped working completely. The service person came to my home again and got the fridge working but it still beeps constantly (24 hours a day). I called KitchenAid last week to follow up on my replacement part and I still have no answer from them. Very poor service for a very expensive product.

Our KitchenAid stainless bottom freezer refrigerator stopped working on 5/25/13. My husband called the warranty department on 5/28/13 (KitchenAid office was closed from 5/25 to 5/27). They asked him to fax/email the warranty info on our side and instructed him to call back 2-3 business days. My immediate response was they are playing games. Perhaps we should just give up and buy a new one, no more KitchenAid... They finally gave us an appointment for 6/2/13. Who knows whats going to happen. Terrible warranty program. Its a refrigerator which is needed to keep food from spoiling and to store essential nutritious food for good health. Sigh... KitchenAid sucks.

Does anyone else have the same problem or had it resolved?

We purchased our Kitchen Aid dishwasher for about $1000.00, when we renovated our kitchen. From day one, it was not a great appliance. It did not clean the dishes well, and it actually dried specs of food onto plates instead of washing them off. The little compartment that holds the soap started sticking closed within 6 months from purchase. After a couple of years, the door started squeaking very loudly when it was opened or closed, which was followed by the door balance strings snapping, breaking, and throwing the door to the dishwasher wide open. We had to get the balance kit replaced, which by the way currently looks different than the old kit, and actually does not do the same job. Its way tighter. Because the door flew open when the strings broke, it caused the hinges on the side to bend. Those had to be replaced as well. These parts were replaced by a kitchen aid service person. After the parts were replaced, our dishwasher would no longer lock. We were told by the service person that our model had a lot of issues an d the parts that are made now do not match up with the actual dishwasher. When I spoke with Kitchen Aid about this, they played dumb. They told me it was out of warranty and they no longer covered any repairs beyond this. My argument is that they are not even providing people with correct replacement parts to get the units to work correctly, so it seems like they are breaking the rules of warranty by not supplying customers with correct parts. Its very disappointing that they dont do a recall on an appliance that has so many known problems.

I have a KitchenAid Double Oven Gas Range. I read up on the oven before purchase and my purchase was due to the high ratings it received. I love the double oven, but I am very disappointed with the stainless steel stove top range. I consider my self pretty careful with my appliances, but taking care of the stove top is ridiculous. It scratches easily and within weeks of use, brown stains have formed around the burners which will not come off. Of course, you cannot use abrasives and stainless steel cleaner does not work. This oven is only a few months old and I planned on having it for a long time especially with the price paid and being a KitchenAid appliance which is known to be a reputable name. I am at a loss, I am hoping KitchenAid will stand behind their name and do something to make this right.

We remodeled our kitchen in July of 2006. We installed all new KitchenAid appliances. The slide-in gas range/oven (model # KGSA906PSS01) is a terrible product. I had 2 service calls on the oven in the first few years. Once the 5 year warranty had expired the motherboard had to be replaced, followed by the gas valve, the sparker module and the gas range circuits. Buying a new oven now seems like a smarter move. The customer service was unsympathetic and didnt even try to stand by their product.

I explained to both the Rep and the supervisor (Chris), that it didnt matter if the refrigerator was 2 or 10 years old, the screws that touch my food should not rust. Basically they told me tuff **. So, a unit that is $70 my cost (much less for them), is apparently too much for them to stand by their product and my health. Therefore, I am sharing this on social media and consumer sites.

We purchased this new model stainless dishwasher on 11/27/2010. Our 1990 Maytag had served us well, but didnt hold enough dishes, I thought. Everyone said the new dishwashers hold more dishes, but not KitchenAid KUDE60HXSSO! First, this holds less dishes and glasses than my old Maytag. Second, whoever designed the KitchenAid racks should be fired. Its like doing a puzzle to get your dishes to fit. Many dishes and glasses just dont fit - same for pots and pans. And third, silverware holders fall into silverware rack. Very cheaply designed!Dont ever buy a dishwasher with the extra rack for silverware. All dishwasher holes are the same size. Because we have this top (3rd) rack, nothing fits into our dishwasher. Its supposed to be removable, but its difficult to get in and out. Anyhow, its too big to store anywhere in our small kitchen. We have an adjustable top rack which we keep in the upper position. As a result, only saucers fit into the top rack. High glasses must be in the front or they hit the extra shelf. If we lower the top rack, our dinner plates are too tall to fit in the bottom rack. The KitchenAid racks are ridiculous. Many glasses dont fit at all, some just in the far right and far left. There is nowhere to put cocktail glasses with rims. They are too tall. We had a place for them in our old Maytag. The silverware holders fall inside the silverware holder, so that it is time-consuming to put silverware in or take it out. We wanted a replacement.Immediately, our door didnt open all the way, so that the bottom rack was tilted when opened. We complained right away to customer service and they werent interested in listening to any complaint or reporting it. They sent a serviceman who wasnt interested either. We persisted and he finally made the door open more, still not completely, but he says that is normal. The 2nd serviceman was nice, so we got him to call technical service (a customer is not allowed to speak to technical customer service!). Anyhow, they sent a new silverware rack; and of course, its just as bad a design as the first. Right away, the dishes and glasses did not get clean on pro-wash and pro-dry. I had film and lipstick on all my glasses and dirt remaining on my dishes. Immediately, I complained to customer service who were unfriendly, rude, sarcastic and insulting. They sent service who ran some stupid diagnostic that told them that the dishes were cleaning as they were supposed to. So no one cares about my dirty dishes and glasses. As long as their test is okay - customer be damned. We complained to customer service, and they said we needed service again. Our dishes were clean with the old Maytag. But for this dishwasher, we needed to buy Cascade Complete and still the dishes werent clean. I now use the single tablets and only Heavy duty, Proscrub, High Temp Scrub and sani-rinse. My dishes are cleaner. Pro-wash and Pro-dry do not clean them even though I scrape and even rinse most dishes and glasses.I hate this dishwasher because I cant fit my dishes into the racks. Ill never buy another KitchenAid appliance. The KitchenAid customer service is horrible. They could care less about any complaints. Ive complained to KitchenAid supervisors - time-consuming and unsatisfying. Now, I see that many others complain about KitchenAid. Now, we need a new refrigerator and I see all the complaints about KitchenAid. However, Whirlpool and Maytag are the same box and same company. So what do I do? Why cant they make appliances that work? Its disgraceful!

We purchased KitchenAid model # KDFE204EWH1, paid $145.00 to have it installed, bought extended warranty and it has never cleaned a dish. We had two technicians out who gave us hints to help, i.e. put more soap in, run your faucet until the water is so hot that you cant touch it because the first rinse in the machine is cold water, use Jet Dry. Ive been using dishwashers for a long time and have never needed technicians to come to the house and instruct me on how to use it. KitchenAid has officially chalked the problem up to owner misuse. This is highly insulting and ridiculous. We even paid our plumber to come and see if the problem could be caused by our plumbing - negative on that. I called the company and was told that if I try another dishwasher detergent, that it might help. Other customers have found it to be very helpful.Give me a break! The machine is a piece of garbage and has never, ever worked. $1,000. of our money has been thrown out the window and we have been treated poorly by this company to say the least. Save your money, do your research and buy something other than a KitchenAid/Whirlpool. We now have to clean our dishes by hand. Horrible machine, horrible company to deal with. They will not send anyone else out to look at the dishwasher unless we pay for it. They have done all they are going to do and dont care that the machine doesnt work. I purchased a KitchenAid stove in 2006. In 2008, the electrical panel needed to be replaced. The electrical panel again has once again failed me, and the company says Im on my own because the warranty for electric has expired and it’s not a quality issue. First off, this is an ongoing problem with the electrical panel which is an obvious quality issue. Also, there is a slight bend on the front of the stove which causes water to seep in and destroy the panel over time. KitchenAid customer service could care less and left me hanging out to dry. I will never buy a KitchenAid product again and I highly advice anyone interested in this product to stay as far away as possible. Just like the last poster, my KitchenAid KUDS30IX is the WORST appliance I have ever purchased. Just 4 months after the one year warranty expired the already very wobbly top rack started losing plastic pieces and falling off when it had dishes in it. I called and they immediately knew what my problem was. They already had repair kits available for the problem which tells me many others have the same problem. Some of the parts in the repair kit are metal. Now it is not getting water to the top sprayers which means the top dishes are not getting clean. All the interior parts are flimsy and unstable except the stainless interior. The grinder gets louder by the day. I am completely dissatisfied with this product. I had other KitchenAids which were better quality, but I guess KitchenAid does not worry about making a quality product anymore. Warning. Dont buy one, youll regret it.

Every Kitchen Aid appliance we own has failed. Bought a great looking KitchenAid oven last year, but it has an unusual malfunction of blowing hot air from the oven into the kitchen for extended periods of time while the oven is on, and most annoyingly, after the oven is turned off. It heats up the kitchen so much it is uncomfortable to be in there while cooking anything in the oven.Just now, we turned off the oven more than an hour ago, and incredibly, the fan in the oven suddenly turned on and for about five minute spewed more hot air into our kitchen. This is a major malfunction. Previously contacted KitchenAid, but the phone operator could not help and thought this was normal. This cannot possibly be normal. It probably heats up the kitchen by 10 to 15 degrees, which is a killer. DO NOT BUY THIS STOVE/OVEN.

I bought a KSCS25INS00 side by side and in its 3rd year of operation, the center wall between the fridge and the freezer started getting too hot to touch. When I bought the fridge from Sears, it stayed in their warehouse for one and half year (paid for) due to some family issue and therefore, when the problem happened, I was told it’s out of warranty. A technician checked it out and claimed the control board is bad. To my surprise, some time later, I was told KitchenAid does not sell this part anymore and I have to send it to some rebuilder for the tune of almost $500.00 plus shipping and of course, labor (about $875.00). I don’t think this a fair deal, to spend nearly $3000.00 for a fridge (I figured buying high end appliance will have fewer problems). That’s not bad enough. I had bought a stove and a dishwasher as well. The stove shows an error message and I have to pull it out and disconnect and reconnect every so often. The dishwasher had broken basket pieces and broken door spring line and roller. Now Im in the hell of a mess. Do I spend $800-900 fixing what I have or spend $1200.00 to buy another piece of junk to replace my HIGH END KitchenAid?

We purchased this dishwasher in December 2013. We immediately noticed that the dishes on the top rack and in the utensil tray were coming out dirty, in some cases dirtier than when they went in. In particular, the coffee cups had a baked on residue of detritus that meant we needed to wash them by hand after soaking for a while. We contacted the vendor, Corbeil Electric, who referred us to Whirlpool to get the dishwasher repaired. We had a repair done in January 2014, which did not fix the problem although it was better. We had another repair done in about March, and we waited for a new piece for more than a month. The problem recurred in the summer, and we had it repaired again (same piece replaced) in September. 1 week later, the same problem is still happening. If someone had mentioned in the reviews that the dishwasher did not get the dishes clean, we would not have purchased it. The service from Whirlpool is appallingly bad, with wait times up to 30 minutes to get through to the service line and they apologize profusely each time but say they cannot do anything about our dud dishwasher. I purchased a new Kitchenaid dishwasher from Lowes. It cost over $600 and had to be ordered. Two weeks later it was installed. It leaked all over our floor. We called Lowes and they sent the installer back out. He removed it and could find nothing wrong. He reinstalled the machine. It leaked again and he told us we would have to call Whirlpool factory warranty. I did and they sent a repair company. This company worked on the machine for over an hour and could not fix it. They told us to try it. We did and it leaked. I called them back and they came. They worked on the machine, again over an hour. He told us to try it again. We did and it leaked again. The repairman said he had Whirlpool training and he would present our issue to the instructor. The instructor told our repairman they would replace the machine. We have now been notified that they will not replace the machine and are sending a new tub to the repair shop to be replaced in the machine, even though they do not actually know what is wrong. I went to Lowes and spoke to the assistant manager and he said that we should have called them back and they would have replaced the machine, even though their installer told me to call the Whirlpool warranty people, not Lowes. And, Lowes told me that had I bought their extended warranty plan they would replace the machine. But why should I buy an extended warranty when the machine is brand new and has its own warranty. It has been five months now and we still have no dishwasher. Our floor is ruining from the leaked water and no one at Lowes or Whirlpool cares. Im just out $600+.
