Our dishwasher is the whisper/quiet, this thing is far from quiet. Ive had other dishwashers that made less noise and had so much more room than this one. It was here when we bought our house but I wouldnt recommend it to anyone!!

I have 2 KitchenAid dishwashers, installed new 2.5 years ago and have had multiple problems with them. The parts fail all the time. I have extended warranties, which we dont always purchase, but they have been worth every penny weve paid into them. Never, never buy KitchenAid. (As a side note, I also have a range and a built-in oven. Both have had multiple problems as well.)

In 2012, I purchased a KitchenAid Refrigerator, model KFCS22EVBL. Weve had nothing but problems with this product. First, the freezer leaked water onto my beautiful hardwood floor. The refrigerator was repaired but it ruined my hardwood floor. My research indicates that this is a known design defect. I wrote a complaint letter to a Whirlpool executive, who referred me to their quality assurance expert. What a joke! I was left extremely frustrated and angry. Neither Whirlpool nor its QA representative understand the concept of customer satisfaction. Second, the refrigerator is extremely noisy. We have an open floor plan and sometimes we have to speak over noise from the refrigerator to hear conversations. Lastly, cleaning the coils is a nightmare. The user instructions state There is no need for routine condenser cleaning in normal home operating environments. I dont have pets; however, due to dust buildup, I need to vacuum the coils at least 2-3 times a year. Additionally, dust tends to collect behind the front coil and there is no way for the average consumer to reach the area behind the coils. Yet, Whirlpools instruction states Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush to clean the grille, the open areas behind the grille and the front surface area on the condenser. Gee, I wish I can figure out how to get behind the front coil. (The attached image shows unreachable dust behind the coil). I suspect the refrigerator was purposely designed this way to shorten the lifetime of the refrigerator. Whirlpool has underestimated this consumer. I will no longer purchase another Whirlpool product, especially since Im also having problems with my KitchenAid double oven. Im now looking for another refrigerator.

Our 11 month old Kitchen Aid refrigerator was determined unrepairable after 4 service calls and the compressor and evaporator replaced. After numerous calls to the manufacturer and being without a refrigerator for 4 weeks we were told it would be replaced and we would receive a call to schedule. After not hearing back for several days we called and were transferred to the exchange dept where the wait time was 64 minutes. One week later we still have not had a reply from Kitchen Air/Whirlpool but fortunately, Home Depot, where it was purchased resolved the issue to our satisfaction.

I read a post where someone said their KitchenAid fridge had finally broken down after 15 years and that it served her well. Major appliances used to last decades, and still should last that long. Think about how much you pay for them 15 years is nothing. Our fridge has a pull down bin in the door that pops open every time we open the door. Even with nothing inside, rendering the space useless. Plus, the bottom of the freezer pools with water which then turns to ice making it impossible to close the freezer door. So far I have had to unplug it and thaw it out five times. If that sounds like nothing, remember you have to put all your groceries somewhere. Tonight instead of enjoying the beautiful summer evening, I made many trips up and down the basement stairs bringing groceries back into the fridge. My oven is also a mess. The knobs get so hot that my friend burned her arm on them. I cant imagine how this passed inspection. NOT SAFE if a toddler was around. Thats okay because she was in the middle of a remodel and was considering my oven until that happened, and I filled her in on the rest. Also, the back panel on the stove is made of resin! I thought it was stainless in the store. So needless to say it is peeling. I guess that is the reason they had the stupid idea to put the smaller burners in the back and the mega burners in front. So much fun trying to reach over a large pot of boiling water to stir a small saucepan in back. Does KitchenAid have third graders designing their appliances??? Clearly not someone who has any knowledge of a cooks needs. I will never purchase anything by KitchenAid ever again. Not even a can opener.

Bought a brand new Kitchenaid dishwasher from local Home Depot store. It was rated five out of five very expensive took the salesperson at Home Depot. After first wash realized not drying dishes and was leaking soap from bottom of door. Serviceman ordered four parts. A week later while we were waiting for part as we were using it stopped and showed two errors and water inside the unit. They said it was pump and part was not available though manufacturer. I requested from Kitchenaid for replacement. They said the warranty is only good for repair not replacing it. So now after eight weeks w/o dishwasher we have to wait for another three to four.

We purchased our KitchenAid dishwasher three months ago. We have had at least two previous dishwashers which were fine. This model KDFE104HPS O leaves water on the dishes and the door. We had two repairmen look at it. The most recent said there seems to be no problem even though the dishes do not dry. He stated that 1) The stainless steel models seem to have that problem; 2) We need to get the water hot before starting the dishwasher so it does not lose the first cycle heating the water; 3) We should use a special rinse agent to aid the drying and 4) We should use the extra dry cycle. In addition, there is an odor that smells like a wet blanket and I think I have even smelled mold. I have owned five dishwashers over the years and have never had this problem. The solutions provided by the repairman actually will cost us more money to run the machine. The only good feature is how quiet it runs.

In this case I would understand being a 6 months old refrigerator they should exchange it to show the respect with the customer, but not only they do not do that, they do not send repair. This is unbelievable!!! I even sent a email for the president of the company and he does not even replied. I purchased all new KitchenAid stainless steel appliances in October 2009 from Bad Boy in Whitby. I also purchased the Gold extended warranty. I noticed about a week ago March 24, 2015 that the bottom of the fridge (model: KBRS22KVss1 and S/N KY3628480) has a crack right in the middle coming out from under the deli drawer. I called Bad Boy but of course the extended warranty expired in December 2014. I then checked the warranty in the KitchenAid manual but it expired the same time. I have never in all my 62 years seen or heard of a cracked liner yet in the manual it states it will pay for replacement or repair of the refrigerator/freezer cavity liner if the part cracks due to defective materials or workmanship. Just on the off chance I called KitchenAid....Due to the age of the refrigerator there is no warranty but they can send a serviceman for $89.00 for the first 15 mins. I talked to the parts department to get an idea of that cost and the liner is not a replaceable part but they do have a patch kit. He could not tell me how much that would be or what it consists of as its a service kit and hes not a serviceman. Beware appliances are made to last 5 years only.

In April of 2014 we purchased an expensive KitchenAid refrigerator from Best Buy, later delivered & installed by Best Buy. The refrigerator was purchased for the ice machine and water filter. From the time we purchased the frig, the ice maker made very small ice cubes and then stopped making them all together. The frig began leaving a puddle of water on the floor, so we turned off the ice maker and I asked my husband to call KitchenAid, while the product was under warranty. He finally did and in September the first repairman came out from Quaker Appliance who said the product was installed improperly, then Best Buy, who came out and showed us the product was installed properly. We went back to KitchenAid and they sent out Ace Appliance. The Ace Appliance repairman has been out here 6 - 7 times, replacing tubes that are broken, electric boards, the actual ice maker itself and still it does not work. We contacted KitchenAid today, after Ace Appliance did not show up for an appointment, and begged them to please end this and stand behind their product. I have had to take numerous half and whole days of vacation, resulting in greater cost to our family than we ought to bear. When I pointed it out to the Supervisor after speaking with 2 customer service reps, she said that they will do nothing to replace the item until both a technician and the KitchenAid technician deem it unfixable. I asked how many times would that mean someone should have to schedule an appointment, take time off work and she said it could be once or 20 times. Her name was Shannon. We told her we were going to submit a complaint to BBB and she didnt seem to care. All the repairmen who have been out here have told us that KitchenAid will just wait for you to give up, toss a few dollars at you or keep wasting your time. They do not return their faulty products. This is what we were told from experienced technicians...

I purchased the French door with bottom freezer style fridge from KitchenAid and couldnt be happier. It was bought at a Scratch and Dent store, which made me a bit uneasy for any possible damages that may show up later, but so far everything has been great. Fairly quiet in our open layout kitchen / living room floor plan.I love that it has a water spout on the inside, leaving the exterior clean without the typical water/ice dispenser eyesore. Also leaves less room for broken parts to be fixed. 8 months of ownership so far and the only thing we had to change was the water pressure on the spout. Very easy.

We purchased this very expensive fridge in May 2010 and the appliance store
We purchased this very expensive fridge in May 2010 and the appliance store gave us a 5 yr warranty which we used on 5 different occasions. Long story shortened greatly... 2 yrs in we had water leaking on the floor which was warping the newly done wood! Ahh! We couldnt figure out what was going on b/c it both seemed to be running/leaking as well as there was water freezing up in the back of the freezer, until it created a frozen pool in the bottom and started to leak out the front. So I turned off the water supply (stinks to have this huge fancy fridge and NO ice or cold water!) But that didnt seem to stop the prob. First they said it required the duck bill to help w/ draining the water inside the fridge which wasnt covered under the warranty- even though KA had HUNDREDS of calls on this issue at that point in 2012. Then later we found that we were experiencing 2 separate problems. We needed a faulty valve which was covered and the repair company was nice and thorough in fixing the duck bill for free. The valve we were told might have been b/c the water was freezing inside the ice cube maker in the fridge (our ice is not indoor but in bottom freezer on left side). He showed me how the water was frozen inside the hard plastic tubing. NOTE that we DID defrost it and that sorry to say didnt help. ALSO BE AWARE that for us these issues seemed to coincide via coincidence or not.. We are unsure... But seemed to occur when either someone left the freezer opened for a prolonged time.. OR we went out of town for over a week and the freezer remained unopened. Unfortunately, we have never gotten an answer on that one.. BUT we just came back from a 1 month trip overseas and bam! The prob was back! Grrrr.. Anyway... So that repair of the duck bill and double valve seemed to work for 3 yrs.. b/c now we are in 2015 and experiencing very similar issues again. I called our old repair guys again and they told me that KA has changed out the duck bill for a new piece called the goose neck/P-trap drain tube. We just ran out of the warranty of course last month.. So to fix this would be $110 labor, $80 service fee + part $25. I found this website that shows how to put it in yourself. I dont even cut my own grass or nail something in the wall myself.. BUT this looks so easy I will do it myself! See link to Repair Clinic! Not sure it will show up here but google it! Has a video. Im going to give it a try. ** Also check out the threads on this forum **. ALSO lastly.. Sorry.. Wanted to let you know that one of the other calls we have had to make on this which was NOT at difficult to figure out but would have been pretty costly had we not had the warranty was the condenser went out 4 yr after we bought it 2014. The thing just started not to cool anymore! But the guys figured it out pretty quickly and got the new part in straight away. OHH And lastly... Really it is.. Haha. The stainless doors are the WORST of ALL of our stainless appliances to clean. and EVEN are getting tiny rust spots which is crazy as our fridge isnt anywhere near the sink/stove. Anyway... SO FOR CLEANING them.. I have tried several different products and the one that has by far done the best at cleaning and keeping spots away is Weiman Stainless Steel Cleaner & Polish. I agree w/ ALL that has been said re: this machine.. Looks great.. But a total lemon! I will NEVER spend $2300 on a fridge again. I figured it was my once in a lifetime. Im grown up and get the kitchen I want & have it last a long time.. Im a teacher... So the cash is not flowing like the water on my floor. But I will never buy something like this again. Sadly too much $$, hassle, and time.

The dishwasher has been repaired two times and is leaking again. I hate this dishwasher and almost from day one. I only had it a short time and it started to leak all over my wood floors. We had it fixed and again. We had to pay to repair the leak a second time and again water on my wood floors. Today, I came upstairs to find water all over the floors again! Plus, it hasnt really cleaned the dishes well in a long time. I am going out today and shop for a new dishwasher and will not even consider KitchenAid. And I had a KitchenAid stove for a very short time and had to go out and buy a GE because at Thanksgiving, the oven stopped working. Right now, I have a KA refrigerator and cannot wait to get rid of it. I will never buy anything KitchenAid. Ill try Bosch or stick with GE!

I have owned this refrigerator (Kitchen Air refrigerator model #KFCS22EVMS2) for almost 4 years and it continually has had problems (e.g., seals around doors deteriorating). Before this I owned a SubZero for over 10 years and never had any problems whatsoever. If there had been room in my current house I would own a SubZero again. So I purchased what I hoped would be a fine quality refrigerator (the KitchenAid) to discover it is badly built with poor quality components. The question is, are there appliances that truly are quality built that are within the financial capability of the majority of people?

In December we purchased a complete appliance package from KitchenAid. When delivered the first problems were damaged interior of the dishwasher, fan on the microwave was hitting on something. KitchenAid sent out a service company to fix that problem. Next the interior of the oven start to fall apart. There were crack all along the bottom and pieces of the blue enamel started to break off. KitchenAid sent out another tech. And the stove top started having bubbles show up around the heating elements. KitchenAid sent out another tech. The tech said that the stove was bad and had to be replaced. KitchenAid fought us on the cooktop saying it was cosmetic and would not change it out. We told them no way. Brand new appliances should not be doing that after only a month. They only agreed to replace the glass top. The tech told us that they are experiencing a lot of problems with this new line of appliances. The new oven microwave unit came in yesterday and the microwave doesnt work properly. The tech said that he has to open up a brand new appliance can take it apart to fix it. KitchenAid has been absolutely unhelpful. My next step is to call up an attorney! We have brand new appliances that are breaking down after a few week and the same day. I have no confidence in KitchenAid.

We bought all new KitchenAid appliances for our new home in late 2011. Two years ago I had to replace the refrigerator after losing the compressor. It was going to be almost $900 to replace the compressor or $1300 to buy a new refrigerator, so we bought a new fridge, but NOT a KitchenAid. Also in 2017 two of the five burner knobs seized up and could not be turned on. Another service visit and about $500 later these were fixed. Now this week I’ve had to call for service AGAIN because two other burner knobs have seized up and cannot be turned on. This will cost me another $400-500 again to get it serviced. I’m seriously thinking about replacing it with an electric range. It takes forever for the oven to preheat and also takes forever for water to start boiling. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER KITCHENAID PRODUCT!! They used to be great but nothing but problems now.

Since the day I purchased this range, gas/convection oven, I have been disappointed with the quality. First of all, the salesperson at ABT told me the same thing about limiting the amount of self cleaning you do (but said you should do that with all self cleaning ovens.) Then, the fan on the oven sounds like a jet engine when it is on convect or cool down mode. I purchased this range in 2005 I believe, and this Thanksgiving, literally moments after the turkey was done, the oven shut down and will not turn back on. After reading all of these reviews, it clearly does sound like a recall issue and it is unfortunate that Kitchen Aid refuses to acknowledge their poor workmanship or design on this product.

He said these Kitchenaid refrigerators all freeze up so when hes done he leaves 2 months later the same problem. Superba YKEBC107KM - 2 issues; Door hinges seized and new thermostat blew after one self clean. 2 authorized repairmen failed to fix my door hinge problem. The 2nd guy said it would be $600 parts & labor in addition to the $150 service call that left my oven torn apart! I ordered new hinges and receivers from Partselect.ca and installed them myself. All good. I thought it would be smart to replace the 12 year old thermostat while I had the unit out. The replacement thermostat blew with the first self clean cycle. Partselect sent me a replacement which I just installed (now Im a pro at working on this unit!). I suspect the part is NOT at fault. Its more likely the lack of ventilation in the cabinet space to dissipate the extreme heat created during self clean. The thermostat is actually working properly. It senses the operating temperature has risen beyond what the components can handle and shuts it down. Unfortunately, this solution is not prioritized by manufacturers and technicians. The feature is what sells more units. So its true; more bells and whistles doesnt necessarily mean better! KA will not give consumers any insight into repair of their products. It is a racket that insulates the manufacturers through the technicians, financed by the consumer.

So dissatisfied with my Whisper Quiet + dishwasher that I sought out this forum to warn others not to purchase a Kitchenaid. We have owned this dishwasher for quite some time, and while it has been relatively trouble-free with regard to repair issues... it does not clean dishes! The ancient, used dishwasher previously owned offered far superior cleansing than this model EVER has. Tonight we are again pulling dishes from the machine to hand wash them, and this has been the norm since its installation. Such a disappointment... we used to think Kitchenaid products were high quality. I own 2 mixers which are great. This dishwasher is terrible (as was a pricey Kitchenaid blender we subsequently gave away). We have followed all recommendations offered for best operation to no avail. If I could afford to replace this model... I would in a heartbeat (widowed). Another deficiency is the long run time. A washing cycle takes well over an hour, and afterward most of the contents still require hand washing. Needless to say, when I can replace this machine it will not be with a Kitchenaid.

After using the self-cleaning mode three times, the lock would no longer disengage. My oven (KEMC378) was still under warranty at the time so the locking device was replaced. Again after using the cleaning mode a few times, the problem reoccurred with the new lock. After about a week of not using my oven or microwave, the lock disengaged on its own. Needless to say, I no longer use the self-cleaning mode. Recently on 10/27/2012, the locking device, on its own, became engaged and will not release. I can no longer cook or microwave - its completely useless. I called KitchenAid on 10/29/2012 to see if my model was part of the recall. Customer service said no and transferred my call to the service dept. I waited for 10 minutes for someone to pick up my call but they never did.

On March 25th 2015, our carbon monoxide detector went off. The local fire department came and they determined that the source of the carbon monoxide leak was our Kitchen Aid slide in range-oven. They supplied a report that outlined this. They shut off the propane supply and pulled range out of position and said we could not use this appliance until problem was fixed. We notified Kitchen Aid customer service on 03/26/15 (appliance under mfg warranty), and explained the situation. This issue was passed on to their safety department. The safety department did not respond to us until 03/27, and they explained that they needed a carbon monoxide meter to service our appliance, which they did not have available. We have been in contact with them every day since the incident happened, and we still do not have an appointment from service department to resolve our issue. The excuse everyday is that they are waiting for carbon monoxide meter to come back to them from the field to send to our local appliance repair center, and in turn to come to our home. This is not acceptable, and we need to help, now, to resolve this issue.

I have had this Kitchenaid Electric Double Oven Range 2 & 1/2 years and I have noticed that the top oven floor is cracked and the porcelain has chipped. I noticed this the last time I cleaned the oven and when I was wiping the ash out I saw small pieces of the blue porcelain coming up. I called KitchenAid and was told that this is not covered under warranty. I paid $2000.00 for this oven.

March 10, 2016 we bought a Kitchen Aid dishwasher from Home Depot. The earliest they could install was March 15. The installers stated the hole was too tall and we needed to remove the tile to shorten it; yes there was a dishwasher in the hole so why couldn’t this one fit? March 23 the second installer arrived, opened the dishwasher and said Your gasket is damaged. You need a new gasket. The gasket around the dishwasher had a large hole and a tear. After many phone calls and much discussion Home Depot stated the dishwasher would be replaced by Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool this week. During all this nonsense, starting March 10, we stated repeatedly we are having 40 people in our home on April 2, we must have this installed. Of course, no problem, you will have a dishwasher before April 2. March 31 arrives, no dishwasher. A representative came out to check that the dishwasher was really damaged. We call Kitchen Aid and speak to a manager, “oh well we just got notified of this on 3/29 there is no way we can get it to you this week.” I assume this is not true because to get the dishwasher replaced the permission had to come from Kitchen Aid March 23. Needless to say after many, many phone calls and 3 service calls I still do not have a dishwasher. Buy from Home Depot & Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool at your own risk.

Last year I remodeled my kitchen & all new KitchenAid appliances were installed - to the tune of over $16,000. The 36 single wall oven alone cost over $3000. After I used the clean function (for the first time) - the oven wouldnt heat. They sent out a repairman who fixed it. A few months later, I used the clean function again (for the 2nd time) - same thing happened. And now, 1 month after the warranty expired, its happened again. Same problem all three times & yet after a long call to them today, KitchenAid refused to do anything! In a year, I probably used that oven less than a dozen times. Needless to say, I wont be recommending them to anyone. And btw, the repair service they sent obviously didnt know what they were doing, because as I now know, the problem was never solved.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher based on ratings. Wrong move. From day one, I should have returned it. Before installing it, the control panel had to be replaced. The print on the panel came off when the protective tape was removed. The tech service man came and replaced the complete panel. After about a week, there was a leak coming down the front of the door [stainless steel]. Repair man came again claiming it was due to steam from drying cycle. Took it apart now. Its okay. We have been complaining about dishes coming out dirty each time and have gotten different answers. Called a third time tech. Checked machine codes, claiming all was okay. But the hot water was not hot enough [120 degrees] at burner. Claims 87 degrees. We have never had a problem with past three machines, last one being a Maytag which was spotless but was not stainless steel and we were matching the new appliances. Another wrong move. Should have kept it. The last tech said he was sorry he had to tell me there was nothing he could do. However, if the tech would read the manual, it states that in the hi-temp cycle, the machine heats the water to up to 150 degrees. Maybe he could find another reason for dirty dishes. I am now going to Lowes to see if they can be of any help. This machine is a lemon. Also, dont lean over the counter top. The panel is so touchy that it will turn the machine on or off. The only pro is the machine is very very quiet . Maybe that is why the dishes are not cleaned, its not doing anything.

Freezer is ridiculously small and v-shaped. Fridge parts started deteriorating a few years after purchase—after warranty had run. Deli drawer lid broke, door stripping ripped and continues to do so, mold grows in the stripping in the refrigerator, the doors don’t close well/easily, especially left door, water drips from doors, the water filter is difficult to change. I do not recommend this refrigerator at all. Looking forward to it breaking down completely so I can buy a new one!

I purchased a top-of-the-line KitchenAid dishwasher in 03/2009. From day 1, I had to wash the dishes by hand before putting them in the dishwasher because it just didnt get the dishes clean. Fast forward to 02/2017 and I called KitchenAid to let them know this dishwasher is now full of rust, the cleaning elements are rusty, the racks are rusty and what would they do about a dishwasher less than 8 years old. I was told because its so old they wouldnt do anything to help me. Hence, they said purchase another dishwasher. I had my last dishwasher for over 10 years and it worked like a dream. I will NEVER purchase another KitchenAid product again. They do NOT withstand the test of time and are poorly made.

Have been purchasing KitchenAid for years. Usually very satisfied. However, their products have changed. They are not made as well as they used to be. Especially this dishwasher. I have to clean it at least once a week with dishwasher cleanser. The dishes still come out dirty and that’s after I also rinse off the dishes before I put them in the dishwasher. I usually have to run the cycle twice to get them clean, and even then the dishes still don’t come out completely clean. I’ve also tried different brands of dishwashing detergent and finishing rinses. Even if I reduce the number of dishes I put in the dishwasher, I still get the same results. I had the machine looked at while it was under warranty. All they did was clean the arms. I was still getting the same results. KitchenAid did nothing for me and once it was out of warranty, they wouldn’t do anything. Now I’m stuck with a terrible dishwasher.

I had a new kitchen put into my 80-year-old house by a reputable, long-established DC firm. The kitchen itself is a delight, and I couldnt be more pleased. Because of the somewhat unusual footprint of the space, we were limited in our refrigerator options. I chose a stainless-steel Fisher-Paykel fridge and I love it; I had my own GE Profile range reinstalled. That left the dishwasher and the microwave. Kitchen Guild (the company that installed my kitchen) said I could get a deal by buying at least two KitchenAid appliances. I had never owned a KitchenAid product, but I thought they had a good reputation. What a mistake! The dishwasher started having problems with the LED display before the end of the first year. Finally, it froze completely, and I have not used it in over two years (the kitchen was installed 6 years ago). The built-in microwave with vent fan also began having problems almost immediately. First, the grid on the top fell off and broke; I called and they sent me a new one. Then, the handle fell off and they would not do anything about it! I super-glued it back on. Then, the replacement grid fell off; I super-glued that back on. Tonight I was preparing dinner and put some veggies in the microwave to heat up. The oven started making very loud, strange noises and then I smelled a strange, electrical smell. Obviously, there is something seriously wrong with the oven, and I cannot use it again. I now think I was offered a good package rate on these appliances because they were clearly lemons! I have never had such a negative consumer experience in my life! And I thought this was supposed to be a premium brand! Has anyone else had a similar experience with KitchenAid products? I paid a pretty penny for them and this is an outrage.

DO NOT BUY KITCHENAID PRODUCTS. They look nice in the store, but are actually poorly built and worse, performance is awful. I have dishwasher, stove, and refrigerator and all 3 have deteriorated in quality after just a year of use. Their customer service is the absolute worst. Ive seen other comments on this site and they are accurate. Customer service will not help in any way. Their only answer is Im sorry. Our refrigerator has a documented design flaw and they refuse to replace it. Their solution is to have someone come to our house and completely strip the inside out so we are left with a metal box. Then, the person is going to build one out of all new parts. I will have a frankenstein that will not be inspected by anyone, no quality control, and no idea if its being done properly. The model is KFIS29BBMS00 -- but dont worry, because of the known design flaw they dont make it anymore. Kitchenaid is horrible and their customer service is worse. Buy ANYTHING else.

We purchased our new KitchenAid oven in July 2010. We finally moved into our new home in May 2011. It is now early 2014 and the ovens blue enamel lining is peeling and chipping and the racks have rusted. I contacted Lowes where we purchased the appliance and the extended warranty. A repair man was sent. Upon looking at the oven, he called KitchenAid and told them that the oven was not only chipped in many areas, but that those areas were beginning to rust. KitchenAid would do nothing, stating it was a cosmetic problem. Same with the warranty company. After further research, I have discovered I am not the only one with this complaint. Do not buy their products, they do not stand behind them and will not return phone calls. KitchenAid is a rip off and my $2,700.00 KitchenAid mistake makes me sick.

My Kitchen Aid double oven which is still under warranty was not heating up properly and when it did heat many, many items came out burned. I checked the temperature with an oven thermometer and the temperature was way off when the beep sounded that the desired temperature had been reached. It took about 20 minutes longer to reach the correct temperature (35-40 minutes in all).It is loud both pre-heating, cooking and cooling. I sent my complaints to Kitchen Aid. A repairman came out and told me the beep really doesnt indicate the temperature had been reached. Must heat another 20 minutes at least and put bread in the oven and see which pieces come out burned to identify the hot spots. Dont want hot spots? Use the convection feature and bake at a lower temperature. It rattles and whirrs and makes a deep throbbing noise. Apparently this is all normal!Called Kitchen Aid, said nothing had changed. Talked with a rep, then her supervisor. She kept with the party line and repeated what the repairman had said but added, If you open the door, heat will escape. I hope she didnt say this with a straight face!! To top it off, this is only 1 authorized repairman in our area. Guess who?? NOT OKAY!!!!!

After only a year and a half we started noticing ice buildup on the inside of the freezer and the refrigerator was not as cold. Made adjustments to the temp settings and still no difference. Called manufacturer and they pointed out that the warranty was expired but if we paid $129.00 to have a service technician check the refrigerator the part that might not be working could be covered or maybe not. A shot in the dark in other words. So I’m checking website troubleshooting tips and this is a common problem. If that’s the case why don’t they show some class and fix it!

So many that they extended the warranty (or so they said) - voila - no extended warranty and the pos is down again! I now need to pay to service this lemon because Whirlpool (parent co) would not classify as a lemon and replace. This is the very last time I purchase this brand. The customer service people had done nothing but apologized for the inconvenience. They could care less that you are taking multiple days of off to wait for service that should never be in the first place. I have filed a complaint with the NJ Consumer Protection and have asked for compensation for the cost of the dishwasher, and time taken off from work. We bought this fridge in 2013, it looks good and has all the features that we need. We are senior citizens, so, prior to 2013, we had owned a number of fridges and never ever had a problem with any of them. In 2020 we placed another service call with Whirlpool (every service call cost a few $$ ).The tech suspected that there is a problem with a control panel, however he was not sure. He informed us that the repair would be quite expensive and it is not covered by warranty. The fridge is still not working properly - the cooling is on and off and we found an ice buildup under the freezer. By now we have had enough with costly repairs and persistent problems. It is time for a new fridge and we will make sure that it is not KitchenAid or Whirlpool. Stay away from these brands.

We purchased our KitchenAid Microhood KHMS2050SBT in Dec. of 2007. It was installed Jan. of 2008. Until recently, we have enjoyed using this unit. However, two weeks ago, we set the timer (no heat setting) for 40 minutes and in about 25 minutes, I noticed a burning smell. We know the microwave itself was not on. I followed the smell and it was clearly coming from the microwave and getting more smelly by the minute. I did not check the controls read-out, I just quickly opened the door to see what was going on. The interior was full of smoke and the center of the glass tray had turned black. Once the smoke/heat cleared, we found that the center of the glass tray was in fractures, practically a hole. The plastic trivet below had melted onto the bottom of the interior. We want to know why the microwave started up when only the timer was set. I see no other similar complaints about this model and we are just beginning to work it through with an NSI Protection Plus service vendor. It seems to clearly be some sort of malfunction. Initially, the vendor is saying the interior overheated so its not a warranty covered issue. I hope we dont encounter the same stonewalling from KitchenAid as others have for another microwave model. We paid dearly for a brand we assumed was the highest quality, maybe not. Until this is resolved, we have no microwave - bummer!

We purchased this KitchenAid refrigerator 2 years ago. The quality is amazingly poor. The flange on both crisper drawers broke during the first year. KitchenAid was kind enough to send replacements. Unfortunately they are the same design/same materials. Next the housing that covers the water filter broke off during the first filter change. Now, at two years, we have the plugged defroster drain that seems ubiquitous with these refrigerators. We shut the refrigerator off for a day with a small space heater directed at the drain in an attempt to thaw the thing out. No luck. Water still leaks down into the bottom of the freezer and eventually drains onto the floor. Weve had more problems with this unit than with every other refrigerator weve owned over the past 40 years - combined. Such a disappointment. KitchenAid use to make a quality product. Now their Kitchen products need constant Aid.

We purchased a top-of-the-line over-the-range micro-convection oven by KitchenAid in September 2012. Within 30 minutes of installation the unit quit working. For 2 months we had 4 visits from a repair company while it hung without a door in our new kitchen. Finally it worked. Within the next 2 months the exhaust fan went out. They came, ordered a new one and when they pulled the original the tines on the wheels were shredded??? That was 2 more visits. Then just at the end of September this year the other motor did the same thing. That was 2 more visits. Now this week the control panel on the replaced door just started going crazy at random. So this will be another at least 2 visits. This will be 10 days of interruption of my work schedule for repairs to a microwave. Each visit requires you to allow a 4 hour window for the visit. My microwave has not been in full working order at least 4 months out of 14 months. Whirlpool the parent company will not replace it. They would rather I switch companies to LG or GE for my next appliance purchases. We have purchased just about every appliance from Whirlpool and KitchenAid for 35 years and 6 houses because they are a local company. BUT unknowingly this micro was built in China. Our loyalty to them is done because they have NO loyalty to us as a consumer. Very surprised at the lack of caring.

Here we go almost in the middle of June and still cant make them to fix my refrigerator. There is any one can tell me what I have to do to get this people to fix it. This time it took over two weeks to get the replacement part. It was installed at the end of June. The owner of the appliance store gave me a break and only charged $50 labor this time.On Thursday, September 7, 2017 the second replacement control panel failed. And I am once again without a dishwasher. I have not yet heard when the third replacement control panel might be delivered and installed. And even when the dishwasher is repaired... After this how can I have any confidence that it will work for long? It was a horrible decision to buy this dishwasher. The price was three to four times the cost of the average dishwasher. I thought we were purchasing a quality product that would last for many years. I am so disappointed by how unreliable this dishwasher has proven to be. I wish I had stuck with the Bosch. My sister bought a Bosch for $1,200 a few months before I needed to replace my 16 year old Bosch. Its working fine and she loves it.

I am extremely dissatisfied and could kick myself for purchasing KitchenAid appliances. We bought a suite of six KitchenAid appliances for our newly remodeled kitchen six months ago. We installed them four months ago. Last night, I turned on the self-cleaning cycle for the very first time and woke to a kitchen full of tiny pieces of glass. A repairman will come in five days. If this is anything like the experience we had with the new dishwasher. We installed the dishwasher and I ran a load of dishes. All of a sudden, I noticed water gushing (damaged new hardwood floor), faulty part. It was three weeks before it was fixed. I ran two loads of dishes and the door latch stuck. A repairman came out two weeks later and used a tool to pick out the latch. He told my husband to pick out the latch if it did it again. I did not feel so good about that. One load and the same thing happened again. We called for repair, and it is two weeks before they can come out. We didnt hear from them in two weeks, so my husband called the service department and then the salesman. The third week, the part came in and they said the part was faulty. Now we have to wait for another two weeks before they come out and replace the faulty part. The dishwasher is working now and the oven glass exploded during the cleaning cycle. I feel like I lit a match to $10,300. I have read the comments listed and feel this exploding glass is an extreme safety issue. And to think I was so proud of my Kitchen Aid appliances. Why does this company not care about their reputation and customer satisfaction? What a headache and heartache. I wish I could turn back the clock and that money would have gone to another manufacturer that stands behind their product and cares about customer satisfaction.

Purchased KitchenAid refrigerator in Jan. 2013 for 2,500. Fast forward to Feb 2017, freezer defrosts food overnight. Freezer full of food lost. Next fridge no longer cooling. Call local appliance repair company. Comes out same day! Informs me he is unable to repair issue and advises that it is a recall issue and provides me all recall info. Well, calling Whirlpool customer service was the worst customer service I have ever received. After 2 calls and 2 hours later, finally got an appointment booked for a tech to come repair issue, but was told this repair would be at my expense as Whirlpool disputes the fact that this is a recall, even though I had the service point number quoted to me by a qualified repair technician. Regardless refrigerator needed repair. Was told I would receive call from agent evening before appointment date. No call. Appointment window I was given was 9am-5pm, by 2pm not even a phone call yet. Called CS line again and was advised no tech would be coming out to my home. No sympathy at all from any agent I dealt with, in fact, found them all to be extremely rude!! Next available appointment not for one full week. Was told they will not provide any compensation! Worst experience ever. Will NEVER recommend KitchenAid to anyone nor will I ever purchase another KitchenAid appliance in the future. So disappointing.

We purchased our dishwasher (as part of a full set as a matter of fact) 2 years ago. It’s quiet, but has stopped washing dishes. We only use the soap and dry aid recommended by the manufacturer, and the dishwasher itself is cleaner regularly. The soap dispenser opens, but unless the bottom rack is left half empty, Ten soap doesn’t come out of the dispenser, or comes out but doesn’t dissolve. This started about six months ago, as an occasional problem, but by now it happens more often than not. Based on this, as well as my experiences with the rest of my appliances, I would not recommend this brand.

As I write this, my oven is being repaired for the fourth time, for the same problem. Since it is out of warranty, I will be paying for this. When you try to self-clean, it goes for an hour or two, then stops, giving an error code because the plastic, yes plastic, around the latch has melted, and the oven thinks the door is open. The repairman this time told me to never again try to self clean the oven. It will just keep happening! This oven is about 6 years old, but this has been happening since it was just over a year old. Also, even when it did clean in the beginning, the glass door does not actually get clean, particularly the space left between the two panes of glass, again yes, a space left open. I would suggest the designer of this oven be punished by having to use it. Clearly these should have been recalled or replaced by KitchenAid, as they are aware of the problem. But no such luck, at least not that I am aware of.

Purchased brand new stove, fridge and dishwasher (all Kitchenaid). Fridge and dishwasher so far are fine (its been a month) but the stove...MAJOR DESIGN FLAW! (model # KGRS303BSS1) Gas range will cause injury during normal use! I was using the top burners and oven at the same time to cook dinner (because people use stoves to eat) and after having it on for about 15 minutes or so, the knobs get SO HOT you BURN YOUR HANDS! This lesson was learned after my 20-month old son decided touching the knobs was a good idea and burnt both his hands. They stupidly put the venting for the oven in the FRONT of the stove just under the knobs for the burners instead of at the back of the range like most companies do. WHY? THIS IS STUPID! So, after being on hold and on the phone for almost AN HOUR, WAITING for the rep to schedule a technician to come out to look at the range to see there indeed is a design flaw when he can just look at a picture of it online as its THE SAME THING. So I hung up and decided to advise anyone and everyone NOT to purchase this stove unless youd like to burn yourself and your children every time you want to use the stove. Not to mention the RIDICULOUS wait times for the phone reps to do anything. Do not waste your money on this stove... and it wasnt cheap to begin with. Shame on you Kitchenaid!

The service tech told me that this normally happens in about a year and a half. He was surprised it happened so soon. He told me to get an extended warranty because it will happen again. Its now January of 2021, still no dishwasher and KitchenAid said they dont know when parts will be available! I should have spent the extra money and bought the Miele like I had previously. As has been noted in other reviews, KitchenAid has issues with the ice makers not functioning correctly and prematurely breaking. Not even three years into owning the refrigerator, the ice maker has now completely burned up. Brought the issue to KitchenAid/Whirlpools attention and they just dodged questions about the issue being a known issue and inquiries if there have been other reports of the problem (which there obviously have been, as one can see clearly in the reviews). Instead, they tried to get us to contact the seller and ask them to cover the repair. $2400.00 for a refrigerator is not cheap... We wont be buying KitchenAid, Whirlpool, Maytag, Jenn-Air, or any other brand under the Whirlpool umbrella after this experience. It came to a head last week when water came pouring into the reservoir, and running all over the kitchen tile. Broken adjuster assembly KUDE40FXSS3 - Just under two years old and this is our third problem with this KitchenAid dishwasher. First the electronic locking latch stopped working properly. Then the dishwasher wouldnt drain properly. And now the rolling wheel mechanism of the upper rack (adjuster assembly) is broken. The design of the assembly is poorly done, since it will be under daily attack from soap and hot water and the small plastic parts that hold the wheels eventually break and cause the entire upper rack to fall.

We were quoted a very high price based on a take-it-or leave it basis. We paid, but this is a very unfair company policy given that the company knew that it had a problem. My family bought this range as it was one of the few gas stove downdraft ranges that could be installed in the middle of an island. It is pretty in our island but it is a TERRIBLE and I mean TERRIBLE range. The oven cooks uneven so dont even thinking about trying to bake anything. Over the holiday, the only way I could get by without burning the food was to place the thickest part of the leg of lamb towards the back. Not to mention that it probably takes about 30 minutes to even get the oven to 350 degree heat. It is ridiculous that something this expensive would perform so poorly. To top this off, the self cleaning function does not work.I decided to use regular oven cleaner and that was a big mistake. Now the inside of the oven is peeling. I contacted Kitchenaid to see if it was safe to cook and their representatives are basically robots and would not provide me with an answer or anyone else who could help, they just kept repeating we dont suggest harsh oven cleaning products. I think 450 degree heat is pretty harsh, so how can an oven cleaner be worst? HUGE disappointment overall and would not recommend or ever purchase a Kitchenaid product again.

I just came in the house after spending about an hour and a half mowing the lawn. To my surprise, the KitchenAid Microwave (Model KHMS155LSS-3 Oct 2005) was running by itself. I tried to turn it off using the buttons, but none of them worked. I ended up opening the door and unplugging the unit to get it to stop running. The inside of the microwave was absolutely smoking hot! Before unplugging it, the digital display was indicating PAN. I plugged the microwave back into the outlet, and PAN again appeared. Seconds later, the microwave started to run by itself again so I unplugged it again. I called Whirlpool (800/331-7456) and they said it was most likely a control board problem, and that they would be mailing a new one to my house. They also scheduled a service call which is a week and a half from today. Thank God I was at home or we might not have a home (and pets) to come back to. This unit should have been recalled! Do I really want this unit in my house even if it has been repaired?

We purchased a top-of-the-line Kitchenaid dishwasher 2 years ago. In the first year, we had 4 service calls for various problems. The last problem was for poor draining and residual soap in the bottom of the unit. Things were replaced and the door was taken apart, then reassembled. The problem persisted. I went online and did my own research and found the solution. Each repair person was sure to remind me to keep the rinse agent full. Turns out that when you have a water softener, the rinse agent is unnecessary. Now the entire door is showing rashes of rust.We called today and were questioned how the door was being cleaned. It is cleaned with a weak soap solution and immediately dried with a very soft microfiber cloth. Okay, so its not a maintenance issue. It is a very low grade of stainless steel. Magnets stick in the door readily, but not on the stainless handle, which is obviously a higher quality of stainless. After speaking to a manager, we are being sent a cleaning solution and a polishing solution. Sadly, had we researched before paying so much, we would have been informed that this is a chronic problem with Kitchenaid and they refuse to acknowledge the problem, nor will they offer any satisfactory solution. This dishwasher was bought to replace a 27-year-old Kenmore unit that just wasnt getting the dishes as clean as it used to. When it was taken to the junk yard, it looked like it did the day it was bought. The stainless parts were flawless. Dont make the same mistake we did. KSSCA 42QMS03 built-in refrigerator-freezer - Builder Centex (now a Pulte division) installed this optional upgrade appliance in March 2007 for $7000. Now, appliance is not cooling enough in freezer and almost no cooling in refrigerator; has flashing indicator lights; and has intermittent low fan noise. Repair tech said KitchenAid does not carry replacement for defective Main Circuit Board because Japanese factory for the board was damaged by the tsunami during the large earthquake that destroyed nearby nuclear plant, so customers have to wait till 2020, per KitchenAid, for KA to have replacement circuit board again. That tsunami was in March 2011 -- more than 4 years ago; how long does it take to have another company make that circuit board? Or does KitchenAid not care about its obligations to its customers for prompt availability of replacement parts? In reading the other damning reviews on this website, I am getting a clearer picture of the poor accountability of this manufacturer. What I do not understand is that Whirlpool, a highly regarded brand in appliances, is apparently allowing their upscale KitchenAid brand to languish in poor management practices.

We want to thank Chris from B.C. who posted detailed instructions for repairing the electronic control board for Kitchen Aid refrigerators. Our 5 y.o. premium cabinet depth Kitchen Aid model #KBFC42FTS02 had the same problem that Chris described (constant alarm chirping, flashing lights on control panel), but our fridge was still cold. The Kitchen Aid affiliated repair service (contracted by KitchenAid/Whirlpool) told us that the electronic control board needed to be replaced. However, they claimed that the factory which manufactured the parts in Japan had been destroyed by the tsunami and no more parts were being made. Further, I called the KitchenAid parts service line on their webpage and that person (also a contracted service, not a KitchenAid/Whirlpool employee) told us that the date listed for availability of the part was 2020 (which he said meant that they had no plans to supply the part in the future)! The repair service offered to take the part out (then we would have no working fridge) and send it out for repair, which could take up to 30 days - not a viable solution from our point of view. At the repairmans suggestion, we attempted to find a new or refurbished part online and were not successful. Obviously, lots of other folks are having the same problem with their KitchenAid/Whirlpool appliances. Before Christmas, reluctantly we schedule a repair visit to have the part removed and sent for repair. The repair service never showed, despite their assurances that a repairman was delayed but was on his way! After that, we were reluctant to trust them with the brains of our expensive refrigerator. After Christmas, we found Chris blog of 12/28/13, with his description of the parts we would need to repair the control board ourselves and detailed instructions. We were able to make the repairs and our refrigerator is now working. Our cost was under $20. Thanks, Chris - this was a welcome holiday gift! We cant believe how callous KitchenAid/Whirlpool have been in abandoning their customers. We will never buy another product from their company.

Purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher July, 2011 from ABT model# KUDS30IXBL (manufactured 2010). Beginning January, 2015 it would occasionally drain and shut down, mid wash cycle. I thought I had done something wrong. But it continued and finally did it every time it was used. The dishwasher is only used twice a week. On 4/18/2015 ABT serviced replacing the Electronic Control Panel (under warranty). Service call labor cost $164.00. On 4/8/16 while the dishwasher was in use, loud sounds like fireworks (identified as electrical arcing) came from the dishwasher and clouds of black smoke came from the top of the door, with strong burning plastic choking fumes. We turned the circuit breaker off, to prevent any further risk of damage to the kitchen or house.Called ABT for service and found out since the Electrical Control Panel had already been replaced once there would be a charge of $186.09 for a replacement of the Panel plus $164.00 for the service call/labor cost, plus charges for any other parts needed. We then called a local service company, that we know and trust. Their service call charge is $60.00 and they took the front door off and there was the burnt control panel and the wire harness. The service tech was astonished at the damage. His quote of $450.00 which included replacement of the wire harness and electronic control panel (which we were told the only electronic control panels available were refurbished).Im writing this so others can be aware of the fire hazard this dishwasher is. Very scary! If you have this model you may be better off getting rid of it.
