4 1/2 year old KitchenAid dishwasher had issues under warranty, now top rack adjusters and top rails are failed. Whirlpool will warranty the rack but not the junk that is engineered to break. We spent 300 to fix that then the unit started to leak. Now the whole thing will go to the dump to join all the other appliances built to last 2-5 years. We had issues with Kenmore brand as well and never entered a Sears store again. The same will apply with any brand Whirlpool makes from now on.

Re: KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDE20IXSS8, serial # F22604005. In September 2012 my wife and I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher (referenced above) that can only be described as a lemon. Here are the reasons: Within a month of purchase, the drain pump needed to be replaced. Less than a year later, the touchpad and left-side top-rack support had to be replaced (the touchpad was under warranty, but not the rack support or labor). Total charge: $193.78. Eight months later the top rack had come loose again. Total charge: $182.60. Just two months after that the machine sprung a bad leak -- the motor and pump assembly had to be replaced. Total bill: $399.00. Exactly one year later the top-rack roller needs replacing. The service technicians estimate: $275.00. In less than three years of ownership, our overall repair bill adds up to $1,050.38. Thats just $71.66 short of what we originally paid for the machine, installation and sales tax included! But we have decided not to make that final repair. This machine is clearly a losing proposition. Instead, well save our money toward buying a new machine of another brand.

We bought a new house in February 2007, and a few months later, we came back from vacation and we had mushrooms growing out our baseboards behind the dishwasher. We called the builder and they came out to take a look. The dishwasher had faulty pump that was leaking. The builder replaced the whole washer, carpet, and baseboards. Now, the pump went out and KitchenAid says it is two months out of warranty and cant help and that I have to shell out $400 to fix the pump. KitchenAid does not stand by their products. You shouldnt have to deal with that many problems with a dishwasher (model kudp02frss3) in the first 5 years.

We have the big side-by-side stainless steel model, purchased in 2005 for our new home. We are in the same situation as the previous reviewer. The circuit board was removed and taken for repair. The problem is that the part is no longer available, so they are refurbishing them and must have weeks of backlogged work to do to fix them. We are also waiting on A&E. Unfortunately, they dont give you this information. They say the part is on backorder. Hello, its not on backorder. There is none.KitchenAid and Whirlpool are big companies and they should order some circuit boards because there seem to be an awful lot of unhappy customers losing food and waiting weeks or months for the repair to be done. If you have one of these big units, you can only leave the door open for a couple of minutes maximum. If you need to clean, remove the shelves or drawers and close the doors. Otherwise, the alarm will begin beeping and within days or weeks, the circuit board will fry. This is a known problem and a recall should be conducted to replace the offending parts on these units!

KitchenAid Superba Electric Double Ovens - We recently purchased the above ovens. They have never worked correctly. There have been four or more service calls. They have replaced the sensors twice. They have replaced the mother boards twice. Each time, the serviceman is hopeful the repairs will work. They have not. Last night, the lasagna took 50% longer to cook as our guests waited. We discovered the oven was actually at 345 rather than the 400 it was set at. A call to KitchenAid was of no help. They said they had a record of only one service call and seemed very unresponsive. A bad product with worse service!

I have 2 KitchenAid dishwashers, installed new 2.5 years ago and have had multiple problems with them. The parts fail all the time. I have extended warranties, which we dont always purchase, but they have been worth every penny weve paid into them. Never, never buy KitchenAid. (As a side note, I also have a range and a built-in oven. Both have had multiple problems as well.)

We purchased a dishwasher, microwave, oven and refrigerator from KitchenAid about a year ago and are currently having the refrigerator repaired for the 3rd time for the SAME issue! The fan in the refrigerator (KRFF707ESS01) doesnt work properly which allows ice to form in the back. This means that the drawers dont close anymore and the fan is very loud since it is hitting the ice. KitchenAid customer service has been absolutely useless. Im very disappointed in the product quality and the company and will never purchase a KitchenAid product or any Whirlpool product ever again!

Purchased a wall oven model KEBS109BSS October 2013. Oven completely shut down during cooking, couldnt turn it on, nothing. Had service tech out September 2016 and paid to have it fixed (out of warranty). Same issue again March 2017. Tech out again, had to pay again to have it fixed. Last Saturday, same issue. Have contacted KitchenAid, they wont do anything to rectify the situation because its 4 years old, not cover issue under warranty. I pushed the issue, talked to a manager. They were rude and wouldnt budge. Had the nerve to tell me that it is man-made and parts do fail. Are you kidding me?! Over $2,000 piece of junk that Ive already put $400 into. NOTE: BEWARE - KITCHENAID APPARENTLY EXPECTS THEIR MAJOR APPLIANCES TO LAST 3-4 YEARS.

We purchased a NEW KitchenAid refrigerator 24 months ago. We were advised by family to always buy extended warranty on refrigerator regardless of brand because “they aren’t well made anymore.” We purchased warranty and accepted poor standard for expensive appliance. Within 1 yr the ice maker stopped working. Within 2 years the refrigerator side stopped holding adequate temperature. The warranty covered both repairs. What was more disappointing is the “styrofoam” part that was removed from the refrigerator. The service repair technician left the old part as evidence that they removed and installed true manufactured parts (from Whirlpool). I took pictures and will upload if that feature is available in this review. How much money did KitchenAid save by installing a large styrofoam part in their expensive product. It’s too bad consumers don’t have better options and shouldn’t expect more.

Refrigerator KSSC42QMS - I bought the above mentioned fridge in August 2004 for $5788 plus tax locally. I had remodeled an older house and redid the whole kitchen, bought commercial grade appliances in stainless steel. The fridge was the top of the line in 2004. Right before Christmas 2014 - 10 years later the fridge started to beep. We could tell there was something not working correct. We called the number on the sticker and were referred to an appliance repair shop. They came out and checked it. I paid $75. I was told that the board was going out and we would have to pay around $200 to have it replaced. Then we received a phone call where we were told there are no more parts available. I was totally shocked. I can understand that that kind of fridges are not build anymore; but that you can’t supply replacement parts for a fridge which was $6000, that’s just not right. Thanks to my son Bernhard, who is very handy and computer savvy, I didnt need to buy a new fridge. He checked online and read all the comments about the boards and the fridges, which were built up to 2007. There were different options for him: they offered to get a new board for $1500 which is the biggest joke, you can buy a nice fridge for that money! Or he could pay $20 for directions to repair the board, or just order the parts to fix the board. Since he didnt need the directions, he just ordered the replacement parts for the board. Obviously anybody can order those parts, just not the Kitchenaid Service Department or the Repair company! What a poor service! To make a long story short: my son ordered parts to repair the board for $18. EIGHTEEN DOLLARS!!! And fixed it himself within 5 minutes! I’m very proud to have a son like him! I always thought Kitchenaid was a great major appliance brand, I guess I was totally wrong. I will never buy anything Kitchenaid.

We bought a KitchenAid dishwasher in 2019, and while it is very quiet (nice!), plastic parts on the interior assembly have started to disintegrate to the point that they are breaking off. And we dont run it often as a household of two. Why is it that manufacturers cheap out on parts so much these days? Maybe plastic isnt meant to be washed and baked at high temperatures. Can we please go back to the old school appliances that last for 30 years?

Model KFIS29PBMS French Door Bottom Mount bought July 2013. Have had repeated problems for 3 years. Serviceman comes almost on monthly call. Nearly ALL parts have been replaced. KitchenAid refuses to own up to a bad product although I have found numerous reports online of perpetual problems with this model. KitchenAid (Whirlpool) says its warranty for one year only -- thats about all this product is good for. Serviceman replaced parts 3 times in last 2 months. He was here yesterday and I will be calling for his return again ASAP. Refrigerator ices up, leaks, fails to keep food cool, etc. etc. etc.

I have had issues with this dishwasher since the beginning. The dishwasher racks are set up poorly and the mechanisms that hold the racks and allow them to slide in and out break often. A service repairman is the one who recommended I get a Kitchen Aid dishwasher and I am now wondering if he does this so that he gets more business. I have read other complaints since googling after having this problem and it appears to be pervasive. Kitchen Aid needs to recall these racks and offer a replacement of a newly-designed rack system. The dishwasher is 3 years old and this is the second time I have had a repairman out in the last 3 months not to mention that it has never operated well.

We purchased the oven (Kitchenaid Double Oven Gas Range KGRS505X) 1 1/2 years ago. The top broiler will not stay on when a pan is in the oven. It seems like it overheats and turns off. I called Customer Service and got no help. Now the baking unit failed. I called service and they replaced the ignitor. We asked about the broiler so they also replaced that ignitor but it didnt help. Then they said we needed a new oven gas valve but they dont have the part. Ive spent almost as much on repairs as I paid for the oven and its only 1 1/2 years old. I called Customer Service to complain but they were not concerned. All they wanted to do was to sell me a service contract that is half the cost of a new oven for just one year coverage. My GE appliances lasted nearly 20 years. KitchenAid is the worst. They have poor quality product and bad customer service.

A few days after my dishwasher was installed my contractor noticed that vent [left side facing dishwasher KUDS35FXSS] was wetting inside door of my new cabinet. I contacted Kitchen-Aid. They said I had to contact where I bought it. I called the appliance store & told salesman (Dominic) whats happening. He said hed look into it. After a few days I went to store & asked him what was going on. He said his K-A tech said its probably a bad intake vent. Dominic told me to call the number he gave me to get a serviceman out & just keep the door of my cabinet open when I use DW until tech comes and fixes it. I went home & contacted the service dept. Tech came out. Tech said he felt moist heat coming out from side vent by cabinet. Tech called K-A Tech who told him venting system must be bad for that vent is supposed to takes in air. Tech said he had to order a new vent system & he would be back to install it. Two days before tech came back I opened door of DW & a screw fell on the floor. When tech came to put in new vent system I asked him about screw & he didnt seem surprised. He said it probably came from the insulation. Is that normal? He put new vent system in & left. I put on the dishwasher & about an hour later opened my cabinet & felt the inside of it. It was wet. I called tech again. He came out for the third time. He contacted a Kitchen-Aid Tech who told him to do a diagnostic check. Result is he has to put in a new Control board and dispenser. Now the front light indicator doesnt work. The dishwasher was installed a month and a 1/2 ago and I can only use it with cabinet door open because it is warping my new cabinet and somethings wrong with the dispensers. When youre looking for a dishwasher nothing in the details tells you where vents are. Who would put the vents of a built in dishwasher on side when there is wood cabinets on each side. Now Im stuck with a dishwasher that when used is destroying my cabinet and doesnt take the jet-dry and I have no idea what cycle because light doesnt work. I didnt pay to have a dishwasher re-built I paid for a new working dishwasher. What upsets me also is the appliance store that I purchased it from acts like its not their problem, its the companys. H & H Appliance center is the one who sold it to me, not K-A. I bought a new dishwasher not one that has to be re-built. Please help I dont know what to do. I dont want others to go through something like this. I bought 3 other appliances from him ($4500.00 total) same day I bought dishwasher. I guess I was foolish to think hed make things right. I feel H & H Appliance Center, 909 Rt.130 North, East Windsor,NJ 08520 should hold some of the responsibility. Shouldnt you be able to go back to the person you bought from and expect them to make good? Please help me. This will never end until the warranty is up and they dont have to do anything.

BUYER BEWARE...DO NOT BUY KITCHENAID. I have read the comments made by many people regarding the refrigerators but I have another issue with KitchenAid/Whirlpool. The Plate on the bottom of my electric oven states that the Country of Origin is Canada..I provided the appliance pamphlet and layout information to my service repairman and he noted that that pamphlet said that only US-made models have a fuse so after his inspection determined that the reason the oven was not working was because of the Circuit Board and subsequently ordered. When the part was received and put in, the oven still did not work. The repairman did another detailed inspection and found a fuse and it was blown. The pamphlet specifically states that only US models have a fuse. I will take this matter further to determine what agency regulates mislabeling of Country of Origin. With all the deception detailed by the many complaints by homeowners, there must be a reason why KitchenAid/Whirlpool mislabels the electric ovens and I suspect mislabeling may give some sort of money advantage. In addition, as most of the complaints state, KitchenAid customer service is horrible and when I furnished them with supporting documentation, they would not even try to justify why the Country of Origin was misrepresented or direct me to anyone that could address the problem. The age-old adage, keep on stalling and the complainant will probably give up and go away. If not for the mislabeling, the repair cost me $600 instead of $2 to replace the fuse.

Our KHMS155L KitchenAid microwave would just turn on by itself. Luckily, the two times it happened (twice in two days), we were home. I cant even imagine what kind of damage could have been done with it, on and unattended for a long period of time. My husband called the KitchenAid Customer Service number in our manual. He was told that he would have to pay for the part and labor (over $200). I then read through this website and called the Whirlpool safety line at 1-800-331-7456. No problem. They mailed me a new panel and set up a local service repair. No charge to me for parts or labor. Thank you, Whirlpool!

For such an expensive dishwasher, it does not clean dishes well. Also, the unit is less than 5 years old and the door balance parts break? They are made of nylon cord and plastic, attached to a metal door and metal spring. Why in the world would you use such flimsy materials for such a heavy door? We remodeled our kitchen in February-March 2011. All new, top of the line KitchenAid Appliances $10K worth. After about 4.5 months, the dishwasher started failing, it wont complete a cycle. Five warranty service visits later, still not working. I have replaced all the electronics at least once. Im now in the process of replacing the control panel for the second time, all under warranty. The cost of all the replacement parts and service could have paid for 3 dishwashers at the price we paid of $1200.00. I bought a brand new KitchenAid dishwasher from Home Depot through what I am not getting to understand as special order from KitchenAid. What this means is that it cannot be returned even if you report an issue in the first two days after getting it. I spend over a 1000 dollars on this order which included an extended warranty. The installers came in, install the washer and told me it was working by showing me that the lights on the appliance were on. Unfortunately the appliance was not working. I loaded dishes in it later on in the day and 2 and a half hours later I opened the dishwasher and to my dismay the dishes were as dirty as I put them in.I went to Home Depot to report this issue hoping I will be given a brand new Dishwasher and the lemon that had been given to me would be taken out. To my utter dismay I was told they would have to send someone out to check it out. At that moment I thought that would happen immediately but no they had to call KitchenAid and they had to get their own service company. The company KitchenAid uses is called Flamingo and this company has really poor customer service. They called me. Told me they can only come out during the week before 6pm and I need to have the whole day blocked out. This outrageous time restriction with no weekend service makes no sense. This is especially relevant for those who have a job and commute that keeps them from being at home during the week before 6pm. With this kind of restriction if you buy a KitchenAid appliance that has an issue it mean you will not get service on an appliance unless you take a day off which is totally unacceptable. However I do not think the Flamingo representatives were being truthful about this restriction. I finally got them to come out on a Saturday to look at the nonworking dishwasher- but that took over 2 weeks. So I paid for a dishwasher for almost a month which I could not use. The guy who came out I must say was nice and it did not take him long to conclude that I had been sold a lemon. The dishwasher that was delivered to me had a bad pump so the dishwasher was not working. His conclusion was that it had to be repaired. I am still in shock as to what is going on here. Why should I have been sold a lemon and they have to fix the lemon versus replace the lemon. I tried to contact Home Depot but the customer service there was even worse. I got insulted on the phone by an appliance supervisor who was so condescending. I will not buy a KitchenAid appliance ever again. I have bought LG appliances and never had any problems. I am still without a working dishwasher, a debt on my credit card and waiting for Flamingo to get someone to come out on a Saturday to fix the lemon dishwasher KitchenAid sold to me via Home Depot special order.

Our son bought a KitchenAid KUDS201XWH4 replacement dishwasher for us a few years ago. Like everyone else has mentioned, the prongs holding the upper rack rollers in place broke off causing precarious loading of the upper rack, in order to keep the wheels from falling off completely. I went online and ordered two replacement roller assemblies. Surprisingly, even though order acknowledgement indicated out of stock, the parts were delivered in a few days. Removal and reassembly of the roller component assemblies proved to be puzzling at first, but it didnt take long to get everything mounted correctly and working again. Now we stack the top rack with heavier items toward the rear, not in the front. Think teeter-totter balance. Unfortunately, after a recent momentary power outage our dishwashers wash cycle starts, but soon changes to the Cancel/Drain cycle then stops completely. Now what?

I purchased all new KitchenAid stainless steel appliances in October 2009 from Bad Boy in Whitby. I also purchased the Gold extended warranty. I noticed about a week ago March 24, 2015 that the bottom of the fridge (model: KBRS22KVss1 and S/N KY3628480) has a crack right in the middle coming out from under the deli drawer. I called Bad Boy but of course the extended warranty expired in December 2014. I then checked the warranty in the KitchenAid manual but it expired the same time. I have never in all my 62 years seen or heard of a cracked liner yet in the manual it states it will pay for replacement or repair of the refrigerator/freezer cavity liner if the part cracks due to defective materials or workmanship. Just on the off chance I called KitchenAid....Due to the age of the refrigerator there is no warranty but they can send a serviceman for $89.00 for the first 15 mins. I talked to the parts department to get an idea of that cost and the liner is not a replaceable part but they do have a patch kit. He could not tell me how much that would be or what it consists of as its a service kit and hes not a serviceman. Beware appliances are made to last 5 years only.

We bought a French door freezer on the bottom lovely refrigerator. 11 months from purchase it quit making ice and would not keep things frozen. The repairman replaced all of the parts in the refrigerator. It was as good as new. Yah right. Now six weeks later it is starting the same thing. I just called and demanded we get a new refrigerator. Oh they cant do that, they only repair their screw ups not replace them. I would love to get a class action lawsuit going. We spent more than $2000 for a piece of crap. I know reading other problems that others have spent much more. The company that is ruining the KitchenAid name should be put out of business. They used to be a high end appliance. Give me your thoughts. Thank you.

I bought a brand new KitchenAid dishwasher less than two years ago and have been extremely unhappy with it! Model #KDTE334DSSO. My 17 year old dishwasher cleaned the dishes better than this one. I used to use environmentally friendly dishwasher soap but had to go to a heavy strength brand now. The plates fall down in the dishwasher (I recommend taking plates and trying them before you purchase any dishwasher) and now I have all of these little rust looking spots all over the front - which naturally is not covered under the extended warranty!! Terrible appliance!!!

We knew ahead of buying that the glass door is bad, and do not use the self-clean, but we liked the range. BUT... the burner knobs turn on with barely a bump (KitchenAid sent us a part to stop this, which turned out to be fillers for worn out knobs, and did not fit our model) AND the top under the burners and knobs is NOT PORCELAIN but JUST PAINT! If anything spills on it while cooking, the spill burns in and is NOT cleanable. I guess we should stop cooking and let the range cool and clean it! KA says this is cosmetic, and not covered or important. The top was covered by our extended warranty from Sears, and was replaced with no problems.KA Customer Service is a joke, and I now see that the new KA/Whirlpool is a joke, and manufactures only JUNK! We will NEVER buy from this company again. It is not the company that made our 27-year-old stand mixer! We have been lucky that we have had no serious, dangerous problems, only bad paint, and ovens that do not cook pizzas evenly. We are very happy with our Bosch dishwasher (its so quiet that you do not know that it is running) and our LG French door fridge with ice in the door, and bright white LED lighting inside.

We have had a French Door fridge by KitchenAid in March 2019. Today is the third service call on the freezer filling with frost, and the ice maker, which pours ice out at an unbelievable volume constantly. The ice maker has now been replaced twice, and the technician tried to blame me for its malfunctioning (because I love taking time off work to hang out with him, I guess?). The door has rust spots all over it (which he has used my baking soda and vinegar to attempt to clean), and he told me today that part of the motor sounds like its going to need to be replaced, too. Customer service is like a Kafka story...theres no way to replace what is clearly a defective item until its deemed unrepairable, but theres also no rule about how many repairs/replacements will deem something unrepairable. I just know my warranty will end up running out before they replace the item. Im so deeply disappointed because something like a brand new fridge doesnt make it into my life very often, and thinking that Ive wasted my money on a clunker that will continue now to waste my time & money is heartbreaking. I wish the company will take responsibility for their product and stand behind it when it doesnt work properly.

Our KitchenAid refrigerator (Refrigerator model KRSF505ESS) did not perform in less than a years time. It was still under warranty, but the customer service experience with the Whirpool Corp. has been terrible. Hours on the phone... Appointments made for service were canceled in the headquarters. Never checked with the repair people. It has been almost a week that I have been dealing with the problem... Never want to deal with this company again! The fridge still is not fixed!

We have a stainless steel KitchenAid dishwasher. Its around 3 years old. Model is KUDK03FTSS0. It does a decent job cleaning the dishes, but Ive had to dismantle the filter mechanism to clean it out twice now, no big deal, but I did have to buy a special Torx screwdriver. The main problem, however, is the placement of the steam vent. Its located at the top of the door, which happens to be right under the countertop. Over time, the steam venting from the dishwasher has caused my counter (melamine) to swell and bulge and now its impeding the door from opening. What a stupid idea to place the steam vent right under the countertop! Well, its probably not an issue if youve got granite counters. I guess thats next on the list of household updates.

I purchased a model # KFIS29PBMS refrigerator thru Whirlpool VIP program in Nov 2014 for 2K (List price nearly 3K!). Since nearly the day we bought this POS the fridge makes a non-stop buzzing sound. This sound is so loud that we have to turn up our TV at night and on some nights close our bedroom door to drown out the buzzing. We have had 4 service calls and the repair people run their diagnostics and come back with NO ISSUE! I ask them about the sounds and they tell me that it is normal fan operation and that these high end products are more energy efficient and the fans run more. But, I ask them about the DAMN noise and they say that it is normal. I say BS!!! It may be normal for when the fan runs but it cant be normal for them to run all day and all night! Whirlpool keeps telling me that they are sorry that I dont like their resolution and my response is what damn resolution! They have done nothing! I live in FL and am from St. Joe, MI. I am going back to MI in mid-June and I am going to go into Kitchenaid offices and go into their product showroom and see if their products buzz all day long. If they do I will shut up and if they dont I am going to play my videos for them all day long and see what they say. My product is junk and obviously they do not care!

We purchased this very expensive fridge in May 2010 and the appliance store
We purchased this very expensive fridge in May 2010 and the appliance store gave us a 5 yr warranty which we used on 5 different occasions. Long story shortened greatly... 2 yrs in we had water leaking on the floor which was warping the newly done wood! Ahh! We couldnt figure out what was going on b/c it both seemed to be running/leaking as well as there was water freezing up in the back of the freezer, until it created a frozen pool in the bottom and started to leak out the front. So I turned off the water supply (stinks to have this huge fancy fridge and NO ice or cold water!) But that didnt seem to stop the prob. First they said it required the duck bill to help w/ draining the water inside the fridge which wasnt covered under the warranty- even though KA had HUNDREDS of calls on this issue at that point in 2012. Then later we found that we were experiencing 2 separate problems. We needed a faulty valve which was covered and the repair company was nice and thorough in fixing the duck bill for free. The valve we were told might have been b/c the water was freezing inside the ice cube maker in the fridge (our ice is not indoor but in bottom freezer on left side). He showed me how the water was frozen inside the hard plastic tubing. NOTE that we DID defrost it and that sorry to say didnt help. ALSO BE AWARE that for us these issues seemed to coincide via coincidence or not.. We are unsure... But seemed to occur when either someone left the freezer opened for a prolonged time.. OR we went out of town for over a week and the freezer remained unopened. Unfortunately, we have never gotten an answer on that one.. BUT we just came back from a 1 month trip overseas and bam! The prob was back! Grrrr.. Anyway... So that repair of the duck bill and double valve seemed to work for 3 yrs.. b/c now we are in 2015 and experiencing very similar issues again. I called our old repair guys again and they told me that KA has changed out the duck bill for a new piece called the goose neck/P-trap drain tube. We just ran out of the warranty of course last month.. So to fix this would be $110 labor, $80 service fee + part $25. I found this website that shows how to put it in yourself. I dont even cut my own grass or nail something in the wall myself.. BUT this looks so easy I will do it myself! See link to Repair Clinic! Not sure it will show up here but google it! Has a video. Im going to give it a try. ** Also check out the threads on this forum **. ALSO lastly.. Sorry.. Wanted to let you know that one of the other calls we have had to make on this which was NOT at difficult to figure out but would have been pretty costly had we not had the warranty was the condenser went out 4 yr after we bought it 2014. The thing just started not to cool anymore! But the guys figured it out pretty quickly and got the new part in straight away. OHH And lastly... Really it is.. Haha. The stainless doors are the WORST of ALL of our stainless appliances to clean. and EVEN are getting tiny rust spots which is crazy as our fridge isnt anywhere near the sink/stove. Anyway... SO FOR CLEANING them.. I have tried several different products and the one that has by far done the best at cleaning and keeping spots away is Weiman Stainless Steel Cleaner & Polish. I agree w/ ALL that has been said re: this machine.. Looks great.. But a total lemon! I will NEVER spend $2300 on a fridge again. I figured it was my once in a lifetime. Im grown up and get the kitchen I want & have it last a long time.. Im a teacher... So the cash is not flowing like the water on my floor. But I will never buy something like this again. Sadly too much $$, hassle, and time.

I had very similar experience on my 8-year old side-by-side KitchenAid built-in refrigerator (KSSC48QMS01). It started out with loud motor sound once in a while, then I noticed that the control panels numbers were flashing. Power Off/On from the panel, or on the physical switch did not make the flashing go away. This lasted for about a month before it produced chirping sound every 5 seconds. Four days after the chirping sound appeared, my food started to be not cool any more (The freezer side was still okay, and the foods in the drawers were not as warm as the ones on the shelves).Anyway, I ordered the Repair+1 plan from KitchenAid (actually it was Whirlpool), and they sent ASI to come the next day. The engineer from ASI was very good. In less than an hour, he replaced the control board, and I have cold food (and lots of ice from ice maker!) that night. All in all, I only lost two days use of the refrigerator, plus the cost of the plan (~ $400). A new refrigerator would have cost me more than $8,000, plus 3-4 weeks of time when I will have to wait for them to build it. I am very happy about the service I received from ASI (281-452-2121). The engineer arrived promptly, is competent and courteous, and the work was done professionally. He took my broken control board, so he can send it for repair and use it for the next customer.

Model #: KUDS35FXSS3. Purchase Date: 11/26/2011. In the second year of having this dishwasher the motor seized. Also the rack adjusters had to be replaced three times. (This problem is well documented on numerous Internet sites.) On Sunday, August 16, 2015, the dishwasher was approximately one half way through a normal cycle. A very loud buzz was heard and this lasted for a few seconds. Then a pop sound was heard. Upon investigation, the black smoke was pouring out the front of the dishwasher at the top. A very strong electrical burning smell was also present. The electric breaker for the dishwasher was tripped. When the dishwasher was taken apart it was found that the electronic control board (motherboard) had shorted and melted the internal wiring. The dishwasher was deemed unrepairable.

We bought a dual oven Kitchen Aid True Convection Oven with Induction cook top (Model YKFID500ESS). We started noticing blue flakes in the rag when cleaning the upper oven. Then 2 weeks after the warranty was up the surface started flake away in the front edge of the bottom surface of the upper oven. When we contacted Whirlpool they said this wasn’t a recorded problem from anyone else and they would not be covering it. They told me they would have just used touch up paint even if it was still under warranty. We luckily had bought an extended warranty and when they came out the tech said it was not repairable. The warranty company covered it under their lemon clause. We then ordered another identical range to replace it thinking it was a one of problem. I checked out the new range before I accepted it and found the same issue with the surface in the same location already bubbling. We would not accept the range and had it returned to the store. I now have to contact the store and look for another option because I will never buy another Kitchen Aid appliance. Whirlpool needs to come clean about this issue and everyone with this model needs to take a close look at their top ovens surface.

I purchased this dishwasher in October 2011 which was a Kitchen Aid model KUDC10IXWH4. This was installed in a basement kitchen which is only used at New Years and Easter and is run for a total of 10 loads per year. The control panel failed within the first five loads and we needed factory service. When the service tech arrived I was informed that we had to pay the labor and service call. This failure was in early 2102 after the unit was run for the New Year holiday. We were told by the tech that we should consider the extended warranty because these units constantly fail. The unit starts by itself. The thermal fuse fails about every 6th load at a replacement cost of $138 per trip. Kitchen Aid is absolutely useless in this process and deny any responsibility in this matter. As this unit has just been run enough to empty the sample bottle of Jet Dry and had for service calls I would tell anyone never to buy another Kitchen Aid appliance as we will not ever again. Their customer service is horrible!

We started having issues with our KitchenAid dishwasher, KUDS301XBLO, potscrub light staying on just after the one-year warranty was up, but we were able to reset it. Then we noticed the dishes were not getting clean and the potscrub light was staying on. It will not even complete a cycle. We have only had this dishwasher 1 and 1/2 years. I called to ask about the 2- to 5-year warranty that covers all parts of defective equipment and was told I had to pay $129 service call for them to come and look at it, then I would have to pay for parts. I was offered to buy an extended warranty for $259. That seems like a lot for a dishwasher that cost more than $800 a year ago. I have been reading that the control panels have been malfunctioning and starting fires. I am very upset that this higher end dishwasher is less reliable than a $400 one. I have also read that the manufacturer is aware of this problem and has failed to recall this product.

3 years ago we bought a new KitchenAid energy star KUDC101XSS. It has never worked properly ..The washer completes its cycle only 1 time out of 10. The 1st month that we owned it, Sears Appliance Repair came to fix the problem. Completed the cycle a few times and then back to cutting off mid cycle. Repair call #2: same result. Finally, a new Mother Board was installed. Even with a new control board (new brains) the machine continues to cut off before the soap has dissolved. We then signed up for the extended warranty and when the repairman came out again the $$$ coverage of our contract was used up. For 3 years, weve have to hit the resume button several times during the cycle or cancel/drain and then restart the cycle. It still will not complete the cycle and never dries the dishes. Recently, Sears had the nerve to call to renew our extended warranty. We have decided that when it completely stops operating, well just throw it off the back and watch it roll down our back hillside. If a class action lawsuit is ever begun against KitchenAid, we will certainly join the ranks.

I can never get a clear answer as to when exactly the repairman will get it. Clearly many other people are having this issue? The part seems to be in high demand! It is ridiculous. We purchased our KitchenAid Dishwasher KUDE40FXSS1 5 years ago. Although it washes the dishes well, to date we have replaced an upper basket wheel mechanism 6 times and now ALL of the wheels on the lower basket have broken due to being brittle from the high temperatures required to clean the dishes. We are so disappointed in the CHEAP plastic used inside the dishwasher! The last time we replaced one of the upper mechanisms, the part came with some metal pieces. Brilliant! Why didnt they think of this is the beginning? So far, it is working well! We are now in the process of replacing the lower wheel mechanisms - all four of them. Until those parts arrive, we have to delicately pull out and push in the lower basket or the wheels fall off. Thank goodness we can replace the parts ourselves. I feel sorry for the people who have to get a repairman in. The cost to us has been substantial, I cant imagine what it might cost to pay someone to fix it! I will never buy another KitchenAid Dishwasher and I tell anyone who asks to never get one either!

We bought a very high end Architect series very expensive side by side. Just moved into new house. Awful smell in fridge soaks through food and food then tastes bad. Exceptions are if food is in glass, aluminum, or heavy plastic (not plastic wrap/bags). Water undrinkable. Ice not usable. Smells terrible when opening the door. Purchased through very reputable large distributor who verified on two separate service calls this was fact and made sure not due to other issues. We are using a small backup fridge.Distributor has been calling frequently to KitchenAid rep/service to resolve. KitchenAid has not responded for 13 days since filed complaint. Since installed during building process, not simple to return. Have had other KitchenAid appliances in the past that we were very satisfied, but this is completely unacceptable. When it came time to purchase a gas range I decided to ditch the so called American made KitchenAid brand and go with the Bertazzoni (Italian manufacturer, family business-6 generations strong). NO WAY was I going to purchase yet another KitchenAid that would need repair within the first year. In 2012, I purchased a KitchenAid Refrigerator, model KFCS22EVBL. Weve had nothing but problems with this product. First, the freezer leaked water onto my beautiful hardwood floor. The refrigerator was repaired but it ruined my hardwood floor. My research indicates that this is a known design defect. I wrote a complaint letter to a Whirlpool executive, who referred me to their quality assurance expert. What a joke! I was left extremely frustrated and angry. Neither Whirlpool nor its QA representative understand the concept of customer satisfaction. Second, the refrigerator is extremely noisy. We have an open floor plan and sometimes we have to speak over noise from the refrigerator to hear conversations. Lastly, cleaning the coils is a nightmare. The user instructions state There is no need for routine condenser cleaning in normal home operating environments. I dont have pets; however, due to dust buildup, I need to vacuum the coils at least 2-3 times a year. Additionally, dust tends to collect behind the front coil and there is no way for the average consumer to reach the area behind the coils. Yet, Whirlpools instruction states Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush to clean the grille, the open areas behind the grille and the front surface area on the condenser. Gee, I wish I can figure out how to get behind the front coil. (The attached image shows unreachable dust behind the coil). I suspect the refrigerator was purposely designed this way to shorten the lifetime of the refrigerator. Whirlpool has underestimated this consumer. I will no longer purchase another Whirlpool product, especially since Im also having problems with my KitchenAid double oven. Im now looking for another refrigerator.

My parents bought this French door refrigerator Model # KRFC704FPS00 3 months ago (July 2017) from Sears in Cerritos. They paid a lot of money for this fridge. We called Sears first but because there’s no extended warranty, they don’t wanna schedule a service. Assistant Manager tried to help but that went down the drain. At first, it was making little to no ice then ice build up on the bottom drawer then few days after it was making this loud sound and not cooling anymore.I called, emailed, left messages through their website. No response. Posted on their FB wall. Responded so fast. Technicians scheduled, came and told my mom to go to Sears. Called Sears told me to contact Kitchenaid. Get the drift. Scheduled for repairs then days came near the technician reschedules. This is unscrupulous, delaying tactic that this company is doing. My mom’s health is at stake because she is taking insulin. Is there a way to help us just get a new refrigerator and get my parents money back? Please help.

We bought our home in May 2011 with a one-year old KitchenAid oven. Last week, I used the self cleaning cycle for the first time. The oven door locked and the digital display was dead. So, I called KitchenAids troubleshooting number--no help and no acknowledgement that this is a known issue! I had to wait five business days, pay $55 and stay home for four hours today waiting for the repair guy via our insurance to come. He replaced the dead thermostat and told me its a known issue and not to use the self cleaning. Now, after reading this list, I see that more problems may still follow! The interior bottom of the stove is now completely damaged from previous owners. Kitchen Aid Fridge model KF1S29BBMS00 (French Door w/ lower drawer freezer)
Kitchen Aid Fridge model KF1S29BBMS00 (French Door w/ lower drawer freezer) - We bought our fridge in late June of 2013. Its now Early September and weve been without a properly functioning appliance for more than 2 weeks. Looking through the reviews, the prospect is daunting of waiting months to get this resolved.Same issue as many. After a call to Kitchen Aid, a technician came to evaluate the issue and determined that it was an evaporator fan malfunction. It took 5 days to get the new part. A new technician/refrigeration expert came to install the new (and faulty) fan (The freezer door, which was functioning fine up to this point, was somehow damaged by him so that now it makes a noise when I open it). He said to give the fan 24 hours to cool the machine. A day later it was no better than it was before, with the temperature hovering around 60 degrees. A new technician was sent out the next day. He determined, after taking the refrigerator apart that the new evaporator fan was faulty. He defrosted the evaporator with a heat gun and talked to Rick at the KitchenAid tech line (On an aside, the drawer display doesnt work at all, a whole different issue). Now were waiting a week to get a new fan and no guarantee that this fan will work. We are very frustrated.

Our problems with this dishwasher have been multiple over the 2 years and 5 months we have owned it. The electronic control board went bad almost immediately. This was fixed under warranty almost immediately. A few months later water leaked out of the machine and damaged our floors. We received a letter from KitchenAid owning up to the problem, with our model listed among the problem machines. When I called Customer Service to schedule repair I was told the serial number did not match up and that nothing could be done for us. The latest disaster is the warping, popping and breaking of almost all the plastic parts in the upper basket. Again, KitchenAid refuses to stand behind its miserably made product: I am told that I am out of warranty and that the Extended Service plan I purchased does not cover plastic parts. I will never again purchase a KitchenAid large appliance. I will not deal with a company that refuses to stand behind its product.

My 1-year-old electric steam oven (KEBU107SSS03) blew the inner glass on self-clean mode. This was the first time I ever used the self-clean mode. I followed the instructions in the manual on self-clean in detail. The mode was set to regular and time given was 3 hrs 30 min. After 1 hr., I heard a loud explosion. The inner glass was shattered. I now await what KitchenAid will do.

As has been noted in other reviews, KitchenAid has issues with the ice makers not functioning correctly and prematurely breaking. Not even three years into owning the refrigerator, the ice maker has now completely burned up. Brought the issue to KitchenAid/Whirlpools attention and they just dodged questions about the issue being a known issue and inquiries if there have been other reports of the problem (which there obviously have been, as one can see clearly in the reviews). Instead, they tried to get us to contact the seller and ask them to cover the repair. $2400.00 for a refrigerator is not cheap... We wont be buying KitchenAid, Whirlpool, Maytag, Jenn-Air, or any other brand under the Whirlpool umbrella after this experience. (We have several KitchenAid appliances, as we used to think they were a good company.)

We moved into a newly built house and just as previous reviewer (Emma of Chester) we purchased KitchenAid appliances based on reputation and we prefer to buy American-made when possible. After 16 months of use, our microwave displayed error messages to open/close door and soon the microwave went black. We hadnt purchased an extended warranty because we expected a better product. Unlike Emmas microwave which had control panel on the bottom, ours is on the side. I feel KitchenAid cannot successfully design a venting microwave to install over a cooktop. For convenience we are replacing it with the same and an extended warranty for over $700. In the future we will always consider taking the extended warranty for any product. We had a service call on our new KitchenAid refrigerator after only 13 months.

My new KitchenAid double wall oven exploded 1 1/2 hour into the self-clean cycle. Shattered glass flew out the oven, spraying all over my kitchen and out into other rooms of the house. I couldnt get near it to shut it off, because glass shards kept recirculating in the convection oven out the vent. So I ran out to shut off the circuit breaker. I spent 2 hours cleaning up the mess. I vacuumed out, but the glass in both ovens that is stuck in gaskets surrounding doors spills out of hinges every time I open the door. I want a new oven, because I dont want glass shards in my food; and what is going to happen when I run the cycle on the bottom oven? It is a miracle no one got hurt, except for the cut on my daughters foot from a small piece I missed. I am scared to death, and I havent had an oven to cook with for my family since it happened in May. I have already spoken to my lawyer.

We just renovated our entire home, and I wanted a good, solid, basic dishwasher for the basement kitchen, thinking this a better option for my teens. This is not our main kitchen and it doesnt get the normal amount of use like our main, upstairs kitchen, and I didnt want anything too complicated. The KitchenAid dishwasher was installed and leaked from day two. It leaked out the sides and all over the floor, and ruined the brand new cabinetry that it was installed next to. In the two years that weve had it, it has been serviced 7 times, and tomorrow will be the eighth. It was barely nine months old and a pump had to be replaced.Early on, I begged the KitchenAid company for a new unit. I even offered to spend a little more and get a totally different unit, knowing Id have to have another cabinet panel made to match our cabinets. Anything to get this lemon out of my kitchen! Nothing doing. Im basically stuck with it, and now whenever I call (again) for service, they want to charge me the service call because its out of warranty, even though they have the service history. I ask for a supervisor and they finally agree to foot the service call, but for how much longer, its anyones guess. Thank goodness I chose two Bosch dishwashers for upstairs. They are quiet and work wonderfully, and they get a lot of use!

We moved into a custom built home and selected a KitchenAid refrigerator/fr
We moved into a custom built home and selected a KitchenAid refrigerator/freezer, wall oven, microwave, stove/oven combo, and two dishwashers. It’s been 2.5 years and every single appliance has had issues except one dishwasher. The refrigerator/freezer is the worst of all. First it was the ice maker, then it was the ice maker door, then it was the motor, and now the water line to the ice maker is dripping. The wood floor in front on the freezer is now ruined from all the leaks. We’ve had a repair guy out at least 5 times already and Im going to have to call them out again to fix this new issue. If youre wondering about the other appliances: the microwave sensor for the door is faulty. The bulb went out in one year (probably because the light stays on when it thinks the door is open) and a service person had to remove the entire wall unit to replace a $3 bulb. Also, occasionally when we press start, it does this weird halfway come on thing… They said to just restart it. The stovetop does not regulate heat well. Low and medium flames on the medium sized eyes are exactly the same. Low boils over every time. The repair guy said, “The flame is not changing but the heat is.” Really?? Because it’s really not. We’ve learned to utilize the space between ignite and high to better control heat. I shouldnt have to implement tricks for it to act right. Also, when I put the small eye on low, it often causes the ignitor on eyes next to it to continually tick. If it doesnt do it every time, they cant fix that either. The repair guy has been out twice for the stove. One of the dishwashers does a pretty terrible job of cleaning… not sure why but Im going to have the service guy look at that when he comes for the freezer leak. KitchenAid small appliances are awesome. Their major appliances are not. It seems in the last couple of years, the quality has gone down quite a bit. If you choose to buy their major appliances anyway, get the extended service plan; you’re going to need it.

I purchased two of the same KitchenAid Dishwashers (KDTE204) in September of 2015. The first one began leaking in March 2019 and was repaired by the repair company that KitchenAid referred me to. This $405 repair bill. In November 2019, the second dishwasher began leaking. In between the time I placed the service call for the second dishwasher and the repair man coming, the first dishwasher began leaking again. When the repair man came out, he indicated that the repair would be $435 for each dishwasher. The price of repairing the first dishwasher twice would be $840 and the price of repairing the second is $405.When I called customer service at KitchenAid they said we cannot control when a product fails and offered me $185 toward parts for repairing the first dishwasher again. I spent an hour on the phone and spoke with three different customer service people. None of whom seemed to think a dishwasher should last longer than a year. So if you plan to throw out your dishwasher every few years, then by all means get a KitchenAid but if you want one that will last, you should definitely look elsewhere.

Our 6 year old top of the line KitchenAid dishwasher control panel has gone out again for the third time in two years. The appliance repair company thinks there may be an underlying issue with the wiring harness. KitchenAid/Whirlpool has refused to provide any goodwill support because of the age and told me to buy another one. Really? The last KitchenAid dishwasher I owned lasted almost 20 years. What happened to KitchenAid quality? Not a happy customer with a whole kitchen full of fairly new KitchenAid appliances.

After a little over 2 years, I must replace it to the tune of over $120.00. Now this Refrigerator was not the cheapest one you sell, but the most expensive. Shame! Shame! It is a real piece of crap and now we have an odor of electric burning in the house. They said on the appliance built in America, oh my God. Dont spend money on KitchenAid. A lot of publicity but the quality is not there. I cant believe how all furniture are very bad quality. Washing machine, dryer, fridge, dishwashers. Better to go with LG, way better or Bosch... We have a KitchenAid refrigerator. This refrigerator is less than 5 years old. It started having problems keeping the correct temperature. Called my service guy, he comes out, checks it out and states it has a freon leak. This involves the sealed system, a repair he does not do. Whirlpool was called and this issue was discussed. An authorized service provider from Whirlpool was sent out and yes it is a sealed system leak but he does not do sealed system repairs. I pay him his diagnostic fee. Called Whirlpool again and another provider is sent out to ascertain that yes it is a sealed system problem and guess what I get to pay another diagnostic fee. Whirlpool stated they sent out the first provider because they are on the List. Somehow this appears to be my problem that they sent out a company that doesnt do the repair that was clearly the issue per my appliance guy. I called to see if Whirlpool would cover one of these fees but nope. I wasted one hour and five minutes on the phone and got zero satisfaction. I also want to add that this repair parts and labor are covered under warranty so it seems doubly ridiculous that I have to pay two service fees. There will never be another Whirlpool, KitchenAid appliance in this house again.

KitchenAid Range Model # YKESA907PB00I bought a KitchenAid electric range in 2006, black in color. First time using it, the paint scraped off the top of the control panel from a pan, exposing the aluminum beneath the pan. I replaced the control panel face plate with a stainless steel on so that this wouldnt become an issue again. A few months later, the off button stopped working on the control panel. Yesterday, I opened the oven door and an error code came up telling me that I need to replace the control panel. This will be the third control panel on this piece of ** in 5 years. How pathetic is that! Appliances are supposed to last 20-30 years, not 5, especially after paying $1800 for it. I now know that the KitchenAid name is nothing but marketing hype. I will never again purchase a KitchenAid appliance and strongly urge others to do the same.

This unit did not work particularly well from the start. Lightly soiled dishes were not clean, even after the excruciating 3.5 hour cycle. A foul smell developed as old water would not clear the system despite regular cleaning of the filters. A pump broke after only 2 months. It was fixed under warranty, but the performance was still poor. Just after a year, the end of the warranty, the pump broke again. We decided to junk it. Why throw good money after bad? Our previous dishwasher (Kenmore) lasted 18 years without a repair. The gaskets went and it was looking tired, but still cleaned well. I purchased the KitchenAid Refrigerator KSF26C4XYY03 March 25, 2014. The unit is only 3 years and a couple months old. The refrigerator door pops open when closing the freezer door. The first occurrence was last summer and I should have addressed it then. This past month the refrigerator door pops open every time the freezer is shut. Called KitcheAid service to find out what it was and how to handle this. They scheduled me a service call. Did not offer any kind of warranty at that time and per conversation with KitchenAid today, they should have. Now its too late since I have already had a service man here and agreed to service with him.The service man told me both door closure cams were worn and that this was very unusual. He said this type of problem does not happen until the refrigerator is 10 to 12 years old. Also said that its usually bad on one door or the other and in my case, both doors are equally bad. It is going to cost me $280 for the repair. I called KitchenAid to register a complaint with their company and see if there is anything they could do to help out with the repair. No help with a relatively new refrigerator. Wont be buying this brand again.

KSSCA 42QMS03 built-in refrigerator-freezer - Builder Centex (now a Pulte division) installed this optional upgrade appliance in March 2007 for $7000. Now, appliance is not cooling enough in freezer and almost no cooling in refrigerator; has flashing indicator lights; and has intermittent low fan noise. Repair tech said KitchenAid does not carry replacement for defective Main Circuit Board because Japanese factory for the board was damaged by the tsunami during the large earthquake that destroyed nearby nuclear plant, so customers have to wait till 2020, per KitchenAid, for KA to have replacement circuit board again. That tsunami was in March 2011 -- more than 4 years ago; how long does it take to have another company make that circuit board? Or does KitchenAid not care about its obligations to its customers for prompt availability of replacement parts? In reading the other damning reviews on this website, I am getting a clearer picture of the poor accountability of this manufacturer. What I do not understand is that Whirlpool, a highly regarded brand in appliances, is apparently allowing their upscale KitchenAid brand to languish in poor management practices.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher based on ratings. Wrong move. From day one, I should have returned it. Before installing it, the control panel had to be replaced. The print on the panel came off when the protective tape was removed. The tech service man came and replaced the complete panel. After about a week, there was a leak coming down the front of the door [stainless steel]. Repair man came again claiming it was due to steam from drying cycle. Took it apart now. Its okay. We have been complaining about dishes coming out dirty each time and have gotten different answers. Called a third time tech. Checked machine codes, claiming all was okay. But the hot water was not hot enough [120 degrees] at burner. Claims 87 degrees. We have never had a problem with past three machines, last one being a Maytag which was spotless but was not stainless steel and we were matching the new appliances. Another wrong move. Should have kept it. The last tech said he was sorry he had to tell me there was nothing he could do. However, if the tech would read the manual, it states that in the hi-temp cycle, the machine heats the water to up to 150 degrees. Maybe he could find another reason for dirty dishes. I am now going to Lowes to see if they can be of any help. This machine is a lemon. Also, dont lean over the counter top. The panel is so touchy that it will turn the machine on or off. The only pro is the machine is very very quiet . Maybe that is why the dishes are not cleaned, its not doing anything.

Updated on 06/03/2020: In my last review from Sept 2018 I indicated that fridge was not repaired yet. In Oct 2018 the main circuit board was replaced for 2nd time. Fast forward to June 2020. Fridge is randomly shutting off all cooling and needs to be rebooted to work again. Service call indicated that main circuit board is faulty. Result is that fridge is going to the trash as Im not spending another dime on it. Following is what I have spent on this six year old fridge, which doesnt include a complete replacement of cooling system under warranty: 10/05/18-$570.65 09/12/18-$100.57 09/15/17-$303.97 08/31/17-$100.57 11/04/16-$404.2610/19/16-$100.57Original Review: Purchased 5 years ago. Constant problems including: 1/ Fridge not staying cold - year 1. Fan that pushes cold air to the fridge from freezer failed. 2/ Freezer not staying cold - year 2. Complete replacement of cooling system - under warranty. 3/ Constantly restarting - year 4. Fridge would shut down and restart many times per day. Sometimes it would show PO (Power Out) warning. Circuit boards replaced - not under warranty. 4/ Stopped making ice cubes - year 4. Replaced ice making unit - not under warranty. 5/ Constantly restarting - year 5. Not repaired yet. 6/ Flimsy shelving. Re-glued a number of internal drawers because they were falling apart. 7/ Noisy. Wasnt bad when originally purchased but after #2 and #4 repairs it got progressively worse and now sounds like a freight train running. I purchased new KA 5 burner gas range, French Door Refrigerator and Dishwasher in 2013. All stainless steel appliances. Did this purchased as I owned Whirlpool or Kitchen Aid appliances all my life. (Yes, Im over 60). The new appliances are just scrap. It took 4 refrigerators to get one that either wasnt damaged or the compressor was not froze up upon delivery. 4th one, door didnt close right upon delivery. We will take it back and get you a different one. NO! Im not waiting another 10 days for a new one. Youll fix this one. 5 days later they arrived with part. Good thing its under warranty guy says. They dont make a hinge. You replace the entire door for $500. Im thinking exactly what did I purchase here. Then I went to self-clean the oven. It had 2 spots where some cheese dripped off a pizza. Clean it off with damp cloth. Wiped it down with dry towel. Started clean cycle. When it was completed, the oven finish was either pitted or gone. I called KA. Response was, if you put foil on oven floor, that will happen. First off, I dont use foil on oven floor. Second, if I did, I wouldnt need to self clean the oven! DUH! They told me to call a servicer in the area. He says yep, some of them do that, the new floor panel is $67+. (I dont remember how many cents). So I called KA again. So I need to pay for this? Yes sir. But its only 2 months old. Its not covered sir. Listen, Im over 60 yrs old. I have owned Whirlpool/ KA forever. Never saw an oven do this. If it is that unreliable of a coating, just what chemical is it putting into our food? What happened to good quality porcelain? I dont know sir. I wrote Whirlpool an email. Explained this whole thing to them. Never did get a reply.I guess when a corporation does sales of $20 billion a year, you dont care about your customers or the product you turn out. At this point they are selling scrap on a reputation they used to have. Problem is, selling scrap products on a great reputation, catches up. With all the companies produced under the Whirlpool name, you need to research, and go to another separate, independent company from Whirlpool. I will never buy KA again, or Whirlpool. Their customer service just is bad. Nothing like it used to be.

Bought a complete line of KitchenAid products for a remodel job on my kitchen a year ago. Purchased the products in April 2017 but did not install them until the first part of June. The KRSC503ESS side by side, counter depth refrigerator does not cool properly. In December 2017 I notice the refrigerator was warm and the bottom drawer was not going in all the way. There was an ice build up at the back of the refrigerator. Also, the freezer was not cooling properly. Call for service and they replace a fan motor and thermistor. The unit seem to be working fine until this week. Same problem. Pulled everything out and turned the refrigerator off for 24 hours to let it thaw out. Turned it back on and everything is working fine again. I personally feel there is a bad design in this unit. The bottom doors are against the cooling unit in the back of the refrigerator. I feel this will continue forever.I call for service again and now KitchenAid and the extended warranty company are saying its not their problem. The KitchenAid service said that I might be responsible for the service call if they come out and find it is not a warranty issue for them. Additionally, the ice maker makes loud noises when it dumps the ice in the ice container. It does wake me up at night. I thought KitchenAid was suppose to be the higher end of appliances, but boy, was I wrong. Hindsight being 20/20, I should have done my homework a lot more. Never again.

Have been purchasing KitchenAid for years. Usually very satisfied. However, their products have changed. They are not made as well as they used to be. Especially this dishwasher. I have to clean it at least once a week with dishwasher cleanser. The dishes still come out dirty and that’s after I also rinse off the dishes before I put them in the dishwasher. I usually have to run the cycle twice to get them clean, and even then the dishes still don’t come out completely clean. I’ve also tried different brands of dishwashing detergent and finishing rinses. Even if I reduce the number of dishes I put in the dishwasher, I still get the same results. I had the machine looked at while it was under warranty. All they did was clean the arms. I was still getting the same results. KitchenAid did nothing for me and once it was out of warranty, they wouldn’t do anything. Now I’m stuck with a terrible dishwasher.

$6ooo KitchenAid fridge doesnt work--again. Twice in less than 2 years, it just stopped working. Everything stopped. First time had it repaired for over $800. Thinking of replacing it with a model I can afford to replace every other yr. Why has KitchenAid gone straight downhill? Or did I get a Frigidaire in disguise? No one I know would take a Frigidaire. They used to be the best lol.

The oven sensors dont work properly, and when using double oven, unit shuts down and lower door locks. It seems like many others on this site have had the same problem. It sounds like a class action suit to me as it also appears Kitchenaid does nothing to make it right. When you pay over $2,000 for an oven, you expect a solid 10 to 15 years of use. That is not what is happening. My choices are to pay another $2,000 to $3,000 for a new oven or $500 to $800 for repairs every 4 to 5 years or so. Its not good either way.

Purchased the oven on July 15, 2015. Used the self-cleaning feature for the first time today. The oven blew up. Fire Department came and condemned the oven. Said it was defective. KitchenAid is refusing to acknowledge that this is defective. On the phone for 3 hours, transferred everywhere. This double oven cost us over $3000.00 and they are refusing to offer any assistance. The snottiest customer service rep I have ever encountered... MARCIE IN BENTON HARBOR, MICHIGAN. I was traumatized by the explosion and the resulting smoke. KitchenAid... You should be ashamed of yourselves. How do you sleep at night reading all of these terrible reviews of your supposedly premium products?

I have a kitchenaid side-by-side refrigerator with an ice maker and water dispenser on the door. This was not a cheap appliance at $2500.00. The ice maker has only worked on and off for a month out of the 11 months I have had this appliance. After four visits for repair and two door replacements at a cost of $1700.00 a door x 2 $3400.00 for door replacement alone not including a water valve replacement and labor for four trips, my ice maker still does not work. I asked a supervisor for a refund for my defective product. Was told they had to go through repair process. It would have been more cost effective to refund my money!! Still no resolution! No one wants to help! Totally frustrated, WILL NEVER BUY THIS BRAND AGAIN!!!!

Architect Series II Electric, free standing range: Overall, DO NOT BUY A KITCHENAID product due to user error, we needed to replace the oven door seal/gasket. After searching online & by phone in our area and being told that part is not available, I called KitchenAid. As we had registered our appliance they were able to verify our range was only 5 years old. THEY NO LONGER HAVE GASKETS FOR THIS MODEL. No other model gaskets will fit this model. Instead of the anticipated $60.00 repair cost we were told all they could do was sell us a comparable model for employee cost... not including shipping, installation and haul off of our current unit. I blew MY gasket & told them absolutely not. Not one .00 over the stated cost!! The upshot? $700.00+ later, with a wait of over 2 weeks, we will get a new range. They had us over a barrel with no other options for the price. I am flabbergasted, frustrated, disappointed & without a working oven for over half a month. I have always thought of KitchenAid as a quality product & in fact have been happy with the unit. I cannot recommend KitchenAid any longer with its program of planned obsolescence. KitchenAid as a company is horrid. Decent products, lousy policies with employees stuck in an awful position.
