Kitchen Aid Refrigerator MOD # KSF26C6XYY04 Low quality - I bought this refrigerator from Sears as a slightly physically damaged product. That didnt bother me. What bothers me is that the cheap plastic draws inside the refrigerator side have all cracked and broken. When I called customer service in a right to work for less state they said that they would replace them, but that if it happened again it was a one time thing. Why I asked? They said the fronts of the drawers are cosmetic? Are you kidding me? You cannot open the drawer without the front on it. Can you open a cabinet without a handle, a front door without a door knob? I am incredibly disappointed with this company. We had a Kitchen Aid refrigerator we bought in 2000 and it was great. This is a $2000 sub par product. Stay away from companies like Kitchen Aid that build low quality products and then dont back up their own warranties. I will not buy from this manufacturer again.

Regarding Model: KUDC10FXSS7. Despite our pre-rinsing all dishes well, using the Heavy Duty cycle, and never having any trouble with the other 3 brands of dishwashers we have had, the KitchenAid dishwasher just does not clean the dishes. The unit is less than two years old and has never worked well. Additionally, the cycle time for the dishwasher is at least twice as long as the other brands we have used in the past. My wife and I are very disappointed that we have wasted our money on a product that does not work.

Design problems: Veggie & meat bins difficult to remove to wash as fridge door hinges don’t open far enough; ice bin jams, mechanism is frozen in place & won’t dispense, warm water must be poured in to release it, making a huge wet mess; front panels on both freezer pull-out baskets fall off dumping items on kitchen floor; very poor insulation - outside of fridge is always cold. Would not buy a KitchenAid again.

We purchased a KitchenAid gas stove (Model KGRC608LSS0) in 2003. The first year we had Thanksgiving, the oven completely shut off in the middle of cooking a Turkey. The oven would not restart for 2 hours. We called KitchenAid and had a repair come out, the next day, who of course could not find any problems, $150.00 wasted. The next Holiday dinner, the same thing happened, again couldnt find a problem. The next time I had Thanksgiving, I decided to cook the Turkey early so that I could turn the oven off for at least an hour before cooking the rest of the meal, and that worked. This past Thanksgiving, I tried my method again but this time the oven would not go back on for 1.5 hours. I tried heating the rest of the meal using the convection and after 45 minutes it shut off again. 22 people waiting for dinner and cooking side dishes in the microwave, not the way I want to host the Holiday. Perhaps this is one way of getting out of cooking the Holiday dinner. We also had used our self cleaning and it ran for entire day, the control panel didnt blow but this happened before we experienced our problems with the oven shutting off, perhaps connected? All of my major kitchen appliances are KitchenAid. I will not make that mistake again!

KitchenAid dishwasher KUDS35FXSS that retails for over $1000 was installed. One month later, the vent on the side of the door blew steam on my new Cherry cabinets damaging the finish. Talking to KitchenAid is useless. They made me purchase a $6.00 part (and pay $15 in shipping) to divert the steam from the vent. Dont they have engineers who could have figured out that you should blow hot steam on wood cabinets?

We purchased a KitchenAid slide in gas range, over range microwave and dish
We purchased a KitchenAid slide in gas range, over range microwave and dishwasher in 2007 when we renovated our kitchen. We have had to replace the control panel twice because when we attempted to self clean, it overheated and locked up. After reading other reviews, I am grateful the glass didnt break as well. The off button for the oven no longer works. Our work around is using the cook duration feature and setting it for 1 minute when we are finished using it. I couldnt tell you the model since everything has melted off the inside of the oven. The top grates broke almost immediately, the knobs are hot and the color has worn off. What I find most upsetting is the over range microwave starts by itself and beeps randomly and then shuts off with an F2 error. We have kept it unplugged when not in use. Out of principle, we have not wanted to replace these as we paid a considerable amount thinking we were buying quality. While apparently the microwave is known to start fires and Kitchenaid never sent us notification. Now our front burner on the stove is having excess gas and conducting mini explosions. We have had to repair the dishwasher multiple times as well. What garbage! I cant believe all of the reviewers who have the same problems and the KitchenAid does nothing to correct the flaws in their appliances. Never, NEVER AGAIN!

We had the same experience in 2008 with a 2005 KA range. I dont know my model number because it is not inside the door. I hadnt used the oven in at least 5 days. I was sitting in another room working and I heard what I thought was my cats knocking over their food. When I went to investigate, nothing was disturbed. Then I looked at the oven and there was a pile of glass on the floor. Since oven was out of warranty, we had an appliance repair done by local professional. I will never buy another KA large appliance.

I love KitchenAid products, but my dishwasher, I dont like at all. It is one year old and works Great! The problem is that the bottom rack tines so-to-speak are not constructed so the plates stand UP. When I put the round-rimmed plates (which most plates are made that way today on the market) in the slots of the bottom rack, they SLANT over??? Because of this, I CANNOT fill the bottom rack with many dirty dishes, etc. The top rack is NOT WIDE enough for the larger coffee cups that are made. This is a problem also for filling...I run my dishwasher a lot because it is just not made to hold a lot of dinnerware (because of this). My old dishwasher (KitchenAid) in another town was great... The tines on the bottom rack slanted at the tip and the and the dishes stood up... I could really fill it up. I guess I just bought a cheaper grade of KitchenAid? Can I get a replacement for the bottom rack with tines that are bent or slanted at the top so my dishes stand up? I would NOT like to run my dishwasher ALL of the time because I cant put a lot of dishes, etc. in it. Water bill is higher because of this... :-(

I purchased a KitchenAid 30-inch gas cooktop. The knobs overheat while cooking and require the use of an oven mitt to turn off. Goldstar and KitchenAid are aware of this design defect with knobs overheating. Goldstar and KitchenAid refuse to do anything about this matter. In the meantime, were stuck with a KitchenAid gas cooktop that is dangerous to use and could potentially cause serious burns while using the knobs. Run, don’t walk way from Goldstar and the purchase of any KitchenAid appliance. Their negligence and refusal to address a problem regarding possible injury is reprehensible. We advise anyone considering Goldstar or KitchenAid to choose another dealer and appliance manufacturer. Dont buy from any company that does not stand behind their product.

Unfortunately we have several KitchenAid appliances that came with our new house. They are all crap. In our previous house, we had a Samsung refrigerator (which cost a lot less than the KitchenAid) that was well made and worked perfectly. Even though we have a luxury KitchenAid model, the drawers dont fit, the ice maker freezes up regularly and the whole unit just feels cheap. Even our builder does not use KitchenAid anymore. In addition, because they are so poorly made, the company cannot afford to (or chooses not to) fix real issues when they occur. Avoid KitchenAid at all costs.

Purchased three appliances in May 2018. Microwave, Range, dishwasher. Microwave wave-guard fell out in 7 months, KitchenAid is sending a new one. However Range interior porcelain is chipping down to metal. KitchenAid will not warranty if it doesnt happen within 30 days. We have owned under 1 year. KitchenAid warranty doesnt cover their own defects in material. Should never purchase KitchenAid again.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher in September of 2010. The purchase price with installation and taxes $800.29. A service call was made March of 2013 with a broken latch. In 2015 the same problem occurred. This year 2016 in September the latch broke again and now its two months later and the panel of the whole electrical circuit board does not work. I am extremely dissatisfied with this product. I actually have never gone online and made a statement as far as dissatisfaction with an appliance. It seems like to me that not only are products made to break with being told I should have purchase an extended warranty which from many of the reviews is an additional waste of money. I wish I had looked at more reviews prior to purchasing the product. Dishwasher model number is kuds30ixbl. I was upgrading appliances and wanted a nicer product. I will never recommend a KitchenAid appliance again. When I spoke with people on the phone it was very dissatisfied. Basically Ill have to say that most companies are no longer concerned with customer service. I plan to look for the cheapest dishwasher I can find with as few electronics and things to break as possible.

We moved into a custom built home and selected a KitchenAid refrigerator/freezer, wall oven, microwave, stove/oven combo, and two dishwashers. It’s been 2.5 years and every single appliance has had issues except one dishwasher. The refrigerator/freezer is the worst of all. First it was the ice maker, then it was the ice maker door, then it was the motor, and now the water line to the ice maker is dripping. The wood floor in front on the freezer is now ruined from all the leaks. We’ve had a repair guy out at least 5 times already and Im going to have to call them out again to fix this new issue. If youre wondering about the other appliances: the microwave sensor for the door is faulty. The bulb went out in one year (probably because the light stays on when it thinks the door is open) and a service person had to remove the entire wall unit to replace a $3 bulb. Also, occasionally when we press start, it does this weird halfway come on thing… They said to just restart it. The stovetop does not regulate heat well. Low and medium flames on the medium sized eyes are exactly the same. Low boils over every time. The repair guy said, “The flame is not changing but the heat is.” Really?? Because it’s really not. We’ve learned to utilize the space between ignite and high to better control heat. I shouldnt have to implement tricks for it to act right. Also, when I put the small eye on low, it often causes the ignitor on eyes next to it to continually tick. If it doesnt do it every time, they cant fix that either. The repair guy has been out twice for the stove. One of the dishwashers does a pretty terrible job of cleaning… not sure why but Im going to have the service guy look at that when he comes for the freezer leak. KitchenAid small appliances are awesome. Their major appliances are not. It seems in the last couple of years, the quality has gone down quite a bit. If you choose to buy their major appliances anyway, get the extended service plan; you’re going to need it.

We bought a 29 cu. ft. French Door stainless refrigerator model KFIV29PCMS
We bought a 29 cu. ft. French Door stainless refrigerator model KFIV29PCMS in 2013. We had repairmen out three years in a row. Each time required several visits. The air tower, ice maker evaporator fan, two fresh food evaporators, valves, a compressor, and a UIn were all replaced. We were out of a refrigerator for 18 days one time and over a week this last time. On one visit they sent a repairman out only to say that he couldnt fix it as it is a closed system. Every time its something different. We have had frost on the top left shelves with water leaking into them, water coming out of the ice dispenser, ice building up on the freezer drawers, water on the floor, and it just quit working. Although we had insurance, it only paid $300 for spoiled food. We have lost more than that. It is always so inconvenient to schedule time for them to come, then reschedule when the part finally comes in. I have complained to Good Deals where we bought it. I dont think they should sell appliances with so many problems. I complained to KitchenAid but all they did was take my complaint. Needless to say I have complained to the repair place,Gulf Appliance. My old Sears refrigerator lasted 26 years without even a service call, and it was a fifth of the cost. I cant believe a company cannot do a better job making an appliance. Did they even test them before putting them on the market? Apparently not. I will never buy another KA fridge again. Our microwave, stove, and oven are all ok but I wonder if they too will go out soon.

Purchased range in 2006 for $1500. In first year activated self cleaning unit. Oven completely shut down. Service contract Technicians had no idea about how to fix. Finally, after two months, one technician said he had just returned from KitchenAid training session where he learned that there was a defective part that broke down while self cleaning. He replaced part with warning that I should be careful about self cleaning in the future. Over next 7 years we had technician came five times for various problems. Last week my daughter inadvertently activated self cleaning - first time since 2007. The entire unit shut down again and KitchenAid wants $400 for repair. I argued that it is a defective part. The three different supervisors I spoke with read off of a pre written statement that the part was not defective and I would have to pay. WARNING to all consumers. Purchase KitchenAid appliances at your own risk. THEY ARE TERRIBLE!

We bought a KitchenAid dishwasher in 2019, and while it is very quiet (nice!), plastic parts on the interior assembly have started to disintegrate to the point that they are breaking off. And we dont run it often as a household of two. Why is it that manufacturers cheap out on parts so much these days? Maybe plastic isnt meant to be washed and baked at high temperatures. Can we please go back to the old school appliances that last for 30 years?

I had my oven in the medium setting to clean, but was not in the kitchen at the moment when we heard a very loud noise that sounded like an explosion. Immediately thereafter, shattered glass was falling out everywhere it could come out of. Very frightening moment. Called KichenAid in the morning and explained everything. They will send someone out tomorrow and assess the situation. We just moved into this place six weeks ago. The day we moved here, the freezer was leaking and formed a sheet of ice on the bottom drawer. Here I was offered to buy one year of warranty and paid $320.00 for it. All appliances are KiitchenAid and were installed in September 2011. They are like new. I, of course, have no warranty on these appliances and think this is absolutely crazy that after short time for such expensive appliances, these things happen. I will report on how this explosion will be taken care of tomorrow!

I have 10+ yr old KitchenAid Superba double ovens. I was baking cookies at 350 degrees in top oven. I took one tray out after 7 minutes and cookies on top were burnt. Door locked itself before I was able to move other cookie trays around. Smoke in oven and perhaps oven fan not working. We turned the wall breaker on and off several times to restart the electronics, which seemed to indicate fan was working when electricity was on. After an hour of oven smoking, refusing to open and oven message of too hot, flames were seen through the door, like a smoldering fireplace. I ended up calling 911 for oven fire. After trying to open the door and let smoke out, the appliance cooled down apparently while firemen were in the kitchen so that the flames dissipated and door would open. Apparently, the flames were from the cookies igniting.

Bought a Double Over, Dishwasher, and 42 Built In Refrigerator, all KitchenAid to match replacing 10+ year old GE Monogram appliances. Thought I did the research required to make the best educated purchase on the market, decided on these as our local dealer had the best deal on all three. After a week, the refrigerator began to frost over in the upper area of the freezer section, all other areas seemed to work as described with no issues. We contacted KitchenAid Warranty for help. They sent out a warranty repair service company and after three attempts with help from their KitchenAid Tech Support Center, they could not repair the problem! Our problems continues and during the final repair call the technician, stated that the Tech support people dont have a clue and that theyve never seen this problem before. We were told by KitchenAid Warranty Call Center that the warranty does not include replacement but is only good for repair service. We want the unit replaced, we didnt buy cheap. We bought what we thought was the best on the marker at the time based on what research we were able to do. The refrigerator cost $9K, overall we spent $12K for all three appliances and now realize this was a huge mistake. The local dealer, Pacific Sales has told us we would be getting a replacement unit soon, nothing yet but we have faith as they seemed to know how to handle bad products sold. We also asked to talk to a KitchenAid representative wanting to express our concerns to a human being. We were told by the Warranty KitchenAid call center that no one was available, that they were the only people we could talk to! This is the most frustrating event weve purchased as 10+ years ago we bought similar appliances from GE for a house we built in CO. We had no issues with what we purchased than compared to this experience. We now have a nightmare going on! If we did this current purchase all over again, we would have never bought KitchenAid, probably stick with GE or Sub Zero or for the money LG or Samsung! Why buy KitchenAid, they have no warranty with their built in products.

Ive had this dishwasher model KUDS30iXSS4 with stainless steel tub for 5 years and the only way to get dishes clean is to set it for pot scrubber and on the longer cycle. The top rack has plastic wheels to roll it in and out that completely broke off so it cant be used. Replacement parts are over $135 and I dont know if I can fix it myself. Ive had dishwashers last 15+ years with 0 problems so I think this one isnt living up to expectations. I bought the stainless tub because I thought it would last. I can see from these reviews the top shelf wheels are a major design fault. Many complaints about the plastic wheels breaking off as well as other plastic pieces failing. When I replace this and Im sure I will have to, I wont replace it with another KitchenAid.

This fridge was bought at Fergusons in Florida in late 2006 (shipped overseas) and it has been a total disaster from the date of arrival. It is an extremely expensive fridge, over US$6,000. Stainless steel, architecturally designed fridge. Came with NO freon and the ice maker never worked. Took us about 6 months to get the part for the ice maker which the company did pay for the part considering it was a brand new fridge. Since then it has been one repair after another. Every year we are looking at a major repair and to source the parts is a living nightmare. Drops temperature very quickly.Right now it has been working poorly for over close to a year and we have spent about US$1,500 in new parts and still not working properly. Very cheaply made inside, always frosting up, wire baskets in the freezer part are all rusty. Need to try one more repairmen and if he cannot fix it have to throw out a fridge that looks perfectly NEW from the outside. The dishwasher arrived without a handle and we had to argue with Fergusons and KitchenAid to get the handle as if it was an option on the dishwasher. Has never worked properly and was only used about 25 times and just gave up on it.KitchenAid Double wall Oven KEBC208KSS0, worked well until about 18 months ago. Stopped heating properly and cannot find any repairman that can tell me what is wrong. Looks perfectly new from the outside. Note: all these appliances are stainless steel. Bought a food processor the other day 12 qt and it was never working from the start and had to return it. When I returned it found out that many are returned for the same reason. KitchenAid is a pathetic company. They should be ashamed to even call themselves an appliance company. Furnished my entire kitchen with stainless steel KitchenAid appliances and out of the fridge, double wall oven, dishwasher and hob cooker (total about US$10,000), after 7 years ONLY the hob cooker is working (and what can go wrong with that?). Another point, our goods had to be shipped overseas. We are convinced that retail outlets in the USA ship out defective goods especially in Florida where exports to Caribbean and South/Central America are high. Defective merchandise is sent to our region because guess what? Warranties are not applicable when the goods are taken out of the USA. I am happy to send you copies of the bills for all the items and reams of correspondence with Fergusons.Updated on 12/7/2015: I have exhausted all attempts to try and repair a KitchenAid Fridge we purchased at Ferguson Enterprises, Inc, Tamarac, Florida. 24.7 CF Architectural Designed SXS Fridge. Model number#KKSSC42FKS. At the time that we purchased the KitchenAid appliances, we wanted quality products as the items were being shipped to the Caribbean. We thought the KitchenAid brand was considered a quality product. We paid $4,741 for the fridge (excluding shipping and duties and taxes in our country). With all due respect to KitchenAid, the products we purchased appear like quality appliances. All are stainless steel with an excellent finish. That is the dilemma. The fridge looks brand new on the outside, but for the last year it has not been working. It is still in my kitchen as it is built into the kitchen wall and as I already stated it looks perfect from the outside. The big problem is that try as we may, we cannot get the part that is needed for this fridge. I have had 2 parts shipped to me at considerable expense and both are not the right part. Our technician who knows KitchenAid appliances says that we are getting the part for a new model and we need the part for the old model. PART REQUIRED: KitchenAid fridge, Model KSSC42FKSO1. Serial #QM4308660. Power supply board #10155702BO 19/0ct/04. EU 1156 02. These are the numbers that I got off the board. The board goes into a case and the case has written on it: Embraco EU 1556 02B 04. Compressor Electronic Control Unit - UCC2. The first part we purchased was from Angel Appliances. They sent me the part which as we have already said was the wrong part as it is for a new model. It was sent back to them. We have a purchasing agent in Florida who went direct to the KitchenAid factory for the part and it is still the wrong part, actually the same part that I got from Angel Appliances in California. I had a young lady on Skype from KitchenAid parts department the other day and she is the first person to tell me outright that the part I want is no longer manufactured for the old model fridges. She then went on to say that the new part that was sent to us is supposed to fit the fridge that we have. When I explained that the technician says that it does not, she then said that is probably needs some adjustment. When I asked what kind of adjustment? The line went dead. This is a typical trick. As soon as the question gets uncomfortable they hang up on you pleading the line went dead. I did not want to go back but this fridge has been a white elephant right from the start. It arrived in a beautiful crate but when it was unpacked it was not working. It had no Freon. When it started working the ice maker did not work. It took us forever to get the company we bought it from Fergusons to send us a new part for the ice maker at their cost. Then in 2009 we needed an electronic board and had to search for months before we got it from Marcone Supply Appliance, in Miami, Florida. I have had to replace the defrost heater, evaporator motor, all the rubber seal around the doors, only to name a few. This fridge is down continually and I hate to say but the mechanics for the working of the fridge is a terrible quality. Of course, warranties given in the USA fail to work in the Caribbean as the excuse is the appliance has been taken out of the country. So we are left with an appliance that looks perfect but for which we cannot get a part. I love the look of the fridge, its size and its capacity. However, the length of time it takes us to get parts that work and that fit the fridge make it a living nightmare. Yet, why should we have to throw it out? It makes absolutely no sense. Also how can your company justify not making parts for a fridge that is 12 years old? Is there anybody anywhere that can resolve this matter because we absolutely have no idea what to do other than throw the fridge out?

Why is it so difficult to make dependable products these days? We purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher in January 2013 and the control panel went out twice within the first year and now it is out again and the dishwasher will not run. The model number according to the inside of the machine is W10502126A. Now I just purchased a one year parts/labor warranty which was not cheap to have them come out to replace the panel. I bought the warranty because something tells me this is not a permanent fix rather a band aid as I think it will go out again before the year is up. Expensively made cheap product.

The KitchenAid dishwasher I purchased in November 2019 is pretty, and its the quietest one Ive ever had. When its running, its hardly noticeable. But...its simply not good at thoroughly cleaning every dish and utensil, especially for the price point (≈$900), to warrant spending the money on it. Add to this, it is horrible at drying the dishes/utensils. I would not purchase again. I bought a suite of KitchenAid appliances when I got it as part of an entire kitchen remodel. The double-oven, dual fuel range and above-range microwave with vent are fantastic, and the cabinet-depth refrigerator is decent. But whoever designs and then builds KitchenAids dishwashers needs to go back to the drawing board. Next purchase will be a Bosch. Stay away from this model from KitchenAid.

Model YKMCS1016GSO microwave, cabinets designed to accommodate this model, 18 months old and the keypad no longer works, some numbers failed first but then the start button failed making this useless, knowing what I know now I wouldnt have accepted this for free, the aggravation and cost of a retrofit (wont be Kitchenaid) far exceed the original purchase, this was a new house with 4 new Kitchenaid appliances, waiting for the rest to hit the proverbial fan. Would not recommend kitchenaid to anyone. I had to select one star as zero was not an option.

We are having the same problems as others with the Kitchenaid Microwave Hood Combo (KIHMS155LSS3). We own two units (one at lake cabin & one at home). The cabin one was running when I returned after being gone for 6 days & the only way to shut off was to unplug it. It was not used or plugged in for three days. Then last night at 1:20 am I woke up to it beeping and the control panel read 5:42 & it would not cancel so I had to unplug it. When I heard about this a year ago I started unplugging my cabin microwave whenever we were gone. Im frustrated & will be contacting Kitchenaid even though others have said it will do no good.

We purchased a KitchenAid French Door refrigerator for $3000. So far we have spent over $1000 in repairs. Now it needs a “seal system”! I have asked for a new refrigerator but I have been told that Kitchen Aid will not replace it “until” it is unrepairable! Do you believe they want me to keep putting more money in repairs! I’ll give it to the scrap yard before I sink any more money into this defective product! They did offer a replacement for $2000! Can you actually believe they would think I would buy another defective product! Every time a technician comes to “diagnosis” the problem they charge me $100! And don’t use an unauthorized technician because KitchenAid will not recognize their repairs! Don’t buy this refrigerator. It’s a lemon!

KitchenAid Range Model # YKESA907PB00I bought a KitchenAid electric range in 2006, black in color. First time using it, the paint scraped off the top of the control panel from a pan, exposing the aluminum beneath the pan. I replaced the control panel face plate with a stainless steel on so that this wouldnt become an issue again. A few months later, the off button stopped working on the control panel. Yesterday, I opened the oven door and an error code came up telling me that I need to replace the control panel. This will be the third control panel on this piece of ** in 5 years. How pathetic is that! Appliances are supposed to last 20-30 years, not 5, especially after paying $1800 for it. I now know that the KitchenAid name is nothing but marketing hype. I will never again purchase a KitchenAid appliance and strongly urge others to do the same.

Two years ago I bought what I thought was a beautiful new refrigerator (Model KFFS20EYMS01). It was a lot of money for a teacher. However I was excited to replace my 20 year old Whirlpool. What a dumb mistake. I thought Id done my research but apparently not. Six months after the warranty had worn out the machine began to over chill and making a racket of noise. After jumping through hoops and many many angry phone calls to KitchenAid and their repair contractors they agreed to pay for the repair. But it didnt fix the problem. This went on for two months. It was a nightmare. Now a year later, again the machine is building up ice. Do not buy a KitchenAid. I will never again.

Two weeks before the warranty ran out on my Kitchen Aid microwave, the unit started humming by itself while it is turned off. I called warranty center and they came in and repaired it. After the warranty ended, within one month, the same loud humming happened. So I called and had a technician come in and repair it. The unit is now two years old, it starts to hum anytime I turn on my range to cook. I would have to unplug it. Another thing about it is it starts to hum in the middle of the night, and then would turn on by itself. I think that a product like Kitchen Aid should live by its word. I cannot use this unit with trust.

Asked him why we were not contacted for a recall and he said they only recall for bigger issues like electrical issues. Called Kitchen Aid. They were more concerned with the date of purchase than the DEFECT!!! Told them I had an extended warranty and they said they didnt know why the repair person would say those things... Told me to put a claim for damages to broken dishes through whomever I bought the extended warranty... Should have been a RECALL KITCHEN AID!!!! They sent me a claim form for damages... I had a KitchenAid dishwasher for 20 years and finally, I decided to replace it only because it was not dispensing the soap completely. I wish I had my old one back. The new model (KUDC10FXWH) I purchased in May 2011 and cost $940 including installation, warranty and tax is a big disappointment. So far, the repairman has been out 3 times. The last diagnosis was a control panel malfunction, which causes the dishwasher to shut itself off. It is almost useless to me because I have to run a cycle twice and/or a separate rinse to be sure the dishes are clean. Mostly, I have reverted to washing dishes by hand to save water and frustration. So far, I have not had to pay anything out of pocket due to the regular warranty. But thank goodness I got the extended warranty because I think I will need it. Buyer beware!

KitchenAid range KDRU783 - This stove has been a nightmare. First, the right-hand front burner was burning with an irregular, bright yellow flame. Called repair; their assessment Lady, you just need to use a bigger pot. (Pardon me, Im a chemist by training, I know incomplete combustion when I see it.) Called again, no better luck; spent several years putting up with carbon deposits on my pots. Finally, the burner became unusable; it literally burst into flame and sent up black smoke. This time I called the repair from the store where I bought it -- a well-known chain -- and they sent a technician who spent time investigating. Found the problem -- a connection to the propane line had come loose. Then, an additional problem occurred: the touch panel would start clicking when we used the left-hand front burners. It would flash on and off at 350 degrees, or 500 degrees, or some other setting but would NOT turn off. At worse, the entire stove -- both ovens -- would become inoperable. This second problem resulted in 3 trips by the repair people, who replaced the unit twice and then a third time with no change. However, the 3rd set of technicians think they have figured out whats going wrong -- and I have an appointment the day before Christmas, thank you very much. Right after they left, a third problem occurred: the left hand back burner next to the griddle keeps sending sparks; we have checked that one of the covers on the burners might be off center, but thats not the case. The result is that the only way we can stop the sparking is to keep the burner turned on low (so that we can use the other burners and the ovens) or to turn off the circuit breaker. I would like to hear from other people who have this range and find out whether this might be a common defect.

We purchased new Kitchen Aid Appliances for a total kitchen remodel 3 1/2 years ago. We also purchased the extended warranty from the people who sold us the fridge (Kitchen Aid Counter Depth Refrigerator with French Doors), range, and dishwasher. Both the range and the fridge have had problems within 2-3 years of use. The range had warranty (from the extended warranty coverage) repairs 3 separate times! Now, the fridges water valve stuck open and flooded the kitchen floor which is 3/4 inch tongue and groove maple hardwood. The extended warranty people (Repair Master) will only cover fridge repairs. (They deny they will cover any collateral damage.) We still have another year and a few months on the fridges extended warranty which would take it to the appliance being 5 years old. The extended warranty people said we have to go to Kitchen Aid for help with the floor damage. Just got off the phone with Kitchen Aid and they denied any obligation since their 1-year warranty was up. So, with what could be several thousand dollars of damage to the kitchen floor, we are forced to place a claim with our homeowners insurance! We have never paid more for appliances in our lifetimes (married 35 years) than we did for what was supposed to the top end appliances such as Kitchen Aid. And then, once Kitchen Aid has your money and a year out of you - you are on your own! We will never purchase Kitchen Aid again. They are simply not Worth IT! And the extended warranties are baloney too! You might as well save your money. Its too bad that big companies dont care about the little guy anymore! Think long and hard before you buy Kitchen Aid!

My KitchenAid dishwasher caught fire caused damage to my home. There was a class action lawsuit with a substantial settlement/compensation to the owners. KitchenAid offered me $100 off MSRP for a new dishwasher. I can purchase a new dishwasher for hundreds off msrp at my local mom and pop store. KitchenAids offer is not only insulting and offensive but also no different to what they offer all their customers with minor complaints. Kitchenaid dishwashers involved in the lawsuit were found to be faulty and downright dangerous as they catch fire and can burn a home down. Had I not been home at the time, my home would have been destroyed and $100 is what they think is appropriate. KitchenAid does not stand by their products nor do they provide support or assistance.

We installed all KitchenAid appliances in our new house which we moved into on September 3, 2014. The microwave/convection appliance (model KBHS179BSS00) failed completely after three days. The store where we purchased it RELUCTANTLY replaced it. That unit worked only in microwave mode. In convection mode, it would not finish a cycle and had to be reset over and over to complete a cycle. KitchenAid replaced this one, but it froze up and could not be cleared to use it again. On December 22, they sent a third one and it also froze up. Today they replaced the entire keypad and electronic motherboard, but it would not work at all. They put the old part back and it is working right now, but they are going to order another new keyboard, etc. The vendor has washed his hands of the problem, so we are at the mercy of KitchenAid. They did tell us they would replace the entire unit again if the new part fails.

Bought all new matching stainless steel KitchenAid appliances (dishwasher, stove, refrigerator, microwave/convection oven) about one year ago and have been very disappointed with the lack of quality and performance in the stove and refrigerator from the start. Thought KitchenAid was a top brand but obviously not any longer. The pieces look sharp in the showroom but buyer beware! The stove - glass top scratches easily, requires extensive cleaning/buffing after every use, the self cleaning oven feature really does not work at all, takes forever to preheat the oven. The refrigerator - cheaply made vegetable bins that fall apart (front panel comes off), water filter needs to be replaced almost monthly. The dishwasher is the only appliance I have no major complaints for. Very quiet and does a good job on plates, glasses, and silverware (wash pots by hand). I regret not updating the GE Profile appliances I replaced with this purchase.

We bought the new pieces for the racks, but the racks still did not hold and were slanted. Now the motor has burnt out. I called KitchenAid, they said all parts are under warranty. The repair guy came here, quoted $109 to come in, $200 for the motor, and $150 for labor, saying the motor is not under warranty. I paid him and threw him out of the house. Easiest $109 he ever made for the 3 minutes he was here. I called KitchenAid and asked why the motor was not covered. They told me only the computer and the racks themselves are covered. I asked why they did not tell me that in the first place. They said the rep was misinformed. Dont buy this unit. It is complete garbage. I am now out $1,000 for a machine I got 16 months out of.

In December we purchased a complete appliance package from KitchenAid. When delivered the first problems were damaged interior of the dishwasher, fan on the microwave was hitting on something. KitchenAid sent out a service company to fix that problem. Next the interior of the oven start to fall apart. There were crack all along the bottom and pieces of the blue enamel started to break off. KitchenAid sent out another tech. And the stove top started having bubbles show up around the heating elements. KitchenAid sent out another tech. The tech said that the stove was bad and had to be replaced. KitchenAid fought us on the cooktop saying it was cosmetic and would not change it out. We told them no way. Brand new appliances should not be doing that after only a month. They only agreed to replace the glass top. The tech told us that they are experiencing a lot of problems with this new line of appliances. The new oven microwave unit came in yesterday and the microwave doesnt work properly. The tech said that he has to open up a brand new appliance can take it apart to fix it. KitchenAid has been absolutely unhelpful. My next step is to call up an attorney! Our 7 year old KitchenAid Kss42QMSO1 side by side started chirping, the internal control panel lights were flashing and we could not adjust or control the temperature using the buttons. I first called the Kitchen Aid HELP LINE (that is an oxymoron). Talking to the fridge would have been just as helpful and all they were interested in doing was dispatching a service man, when he showed up we were advised that it was the control board # W 10219463 that had failed. When I asked the cost to replace it he advised that it was no longer available because the factory in Japan had been destroyed by the Tsunami. This was two years ago, and this huge company had done nothing to create a new supply?? Can you imagine Toyota or Sony using that excuse? Our only option was to send the control board to Chicago for repair and have the fridge / freezer out of commission for 3 to 4 weeks, also we had to sign some kind of a liability waiver. I thanked the service man and advised I would get back to him, then I started to surf the net and after some time I came across this web site and thankfully the blog from Chris in North Van. I live in White Rock and if I knew your address I would drop off a very good bottle of wine on my way to Whistler. Thank you, after reading your info I asked the service man to come back and remove the board. However he said he was prevented by Whirlpool / Kitchen Aid from doing this unless it was sent to Chicago. I contacted another excellent service man who is independent and had him do the removal. I would say unless you are very mechanical you would be better to go this route. He also advised that it was often the evaporator fan that caused the circuit board malfunction. Once it was removed I found it to be exactly as per the photo from Chris. I was able to locate the capacitor from SMI Industrial Electronics in the nearby suburb of Langley, it is a 22ouf 10X12 HI TEMP CAPACITOR 85 o and cost the princely sum of 36 cents (I even purchased a spare). I then took this to an electronics repair man who tested and removed the defective capacitor and installed the new one in less than 5 minutes, he would not even accept any payment. I would advise that unless you are used to working on circuit boards and have a very fine tipped soldering iron I would use an expert, even if he charges you. It would be easy to short out the wires with too much solder. I took this home and the service man came back and installed the circuit board and a new evaporator fan which for some reason is a stock item and in about 1/2 hour the fridge was humming, no chirping and we were able to set the freezer for 0 F and the fridge for 37 F. The temperatures both initially read the 70 F air temp. but started to fall quickly and a few hours later we heard the first ice being made and everything is working just fine. Our total bill including the fan was $260.00. Thanks again Chris, and like you I am amazed that the so-called help line would not advise of this. I am fairly certain our first service man knew of this option because when I told him about the info from Chris he was not the least bit surprised. He probably would be blacklisted if he went against the companys policies. Good Luck!

I purchased six appliances when I upgraded my kitchen: refrigerator, range, microwave oven, trash compactor, and beverage center to the tune of $10,000. At this point, I would never recommend KitchenAid to anyone. The microwave broke and the part was never available. After months of arguing, I had to get a new one. Now, I ran the clean cycle on the oven and the oven overheated and locked up for the second time. The oven is now not operable and I will have to pay a service man to put in another new thermostat. I purchased a new KitchenAid Superba EQ Series 24 dishwasher model KUDE40FXBL4 from Sears.com on November 21, 2011. The appliance was delivered and installed on December 5, 2011. In May of 2012, the dishwasher stopped mid-cycle and would not drain the water from the tub. The control panel was totally non-functional. On May 18, 2012, a factory authorized repairman from A&E Factory Service attempted to repair the dishwasher by replacing a bi-metal fuse. The dishwasher functioned until June when the same repairman returned on June 1, 2012 because the dishwasher had again stopped mid-cycle, would not drain water and the control panel was non-functioning. At this time, the repairman installed a controller and fuse. I told the repairman I was very concerned that the dishwasher had to be repaired twice within a two-week timeframe. I also mentioned the fact that the dishwasher possibly could be defective and that I did not want an appliance that needs constant servicing. The repairman assured me that KitchenAid would replace the dishwasher if it continued to break down.Yesterday, December 6, 2012, one year and one day after the initial installation of the dishwasher, the dishwasher again shut down mid-cycle. I spent over an hour on the telephone attempting to get a satisfactory resolution from KitchenAid and/or Sears. I was not satisfied with anything KitchenAid or Sears offered. Their basic answer was that I should have the appliance repaired and buy an extended warranty. My answer to that is why throw good money after bad? All that accomplishes is to make the purchase price of a defective product cost even more. If after two service calls during the first six months of use KitchenAid factory service has not been able to accomplish a complete and total repair of the dishwasher so that it does not breakdown every six months, then purchasing an extended warranty will not fix the defective product.I was a loyal customer of KitchenAid products prior to this bad experience. I had a wonderful KitchenAid dishwasher prior to purchasing this defective model, but the wire baskets needed replacing and were so expensive. I thought it wiser to invest in a new dishwasher than to put new baskets in a 10-year old dishwasher. I now realize what a foolish decision that was. That dishwasher is still functioning perfectly in someone elses home while I am facing the possibility of dealing with a defective appliance that will require servicing every six months or replacing. Either way, I lose. It is my educated opinion that KitchenAid should replace the defective appliance and recall that model. To the reasoning mind, the thought occurs that these breakdowns are a built in ploy to sell extended warranties and thus keep the parts and service departments also in business. While this practice of planned breakdowns may appear to be a revenue generator equal to or greater than planned obsolescence, it may prove detrimental in the long run. As a particular and wise consumer, I will find another manufacturer of a longer durability and better quality product or just give up the dishwasher all together. The consumer does have other options. At any rate, I refuse to be forced into paying additional funds for a dishwasher that is not functioning up to the original expectation of the purchase price of $1,377.01, which is an overcharge for a product that only works for six months at a time.

It is an average refrigerator with ice bucket in the door. However, the ice in bucket always clumps. Also, it is difficult to keep dust and dirt off the grill underneath the refrigerator due to tight distance between grill and floor space. It is hard to regulate the temperature controls for the vegetable bins. After cleaning the dirt and fuzz from the grill at bottom of the refrigerator there was a noise.

We purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher back in April of 2006. It hasnt worked right ever since we bought it. At first, I would notice that every once in a while, it wouldnt get the dishes completely clean, and then it got to be more and more. I had a repairman come out today and he said it needs a whole new motor mechanism. This will cost at least $250 (we paid almost $1,000 for the dishwasher). We have all KitchenAid appliances and have had issues with almost all of them. We will not buy anything else from them.

We purchased our Kitchen Aid appliances (French door refrigerator, double oven, range top, vent hood and dish washer) approximately 15 months ago. We have had the repairman out for repair on the iced up ice maker 3 times. The compressor has been changed once. Yesterday, we were told the panel was defective, to the tune of $500 for repair. And no, the warranty is not still in affect, despite having these problems with this fridge before. I am frustrated. Whirlpool, Lowes and the Kitchen Aid repair people are not helpful. It looks as though I may have to replace this appliance and I can guarantee, it wont be with another Kitchen Aid. Please do more research before you purchase these appliances.

Purchased set of KitchenAid Refrigerator and Gas Stove six years ago. From day one gas oven failed to ignite and has been repaired several times. Called supplier and they refused to repair. Has been repaired several times now and was told it is an ongoing issue. KitchenAid failed to warranty as they said it failed beyond the warranty. Recently we noticed the refrigerator leaking, called a technician only to find the water tray had been broken and duct taped. This unit has never had service therefore this damage was repaired in factory and sent out broken. A phone call and message was left with KitchenAid and now, over a week later no return call has been received. We will avoid KitchenAid products from now on.

In December, 2013, I purchased a replacement dishwasher for my then 20 year
In December, 2013, I purchased a replacement dishwasher for my then 20 year old KitchenAid. Shortly after it was installed, we discovered that the handle was improperly attached and one end stuck out, catching on clothes and tearing them. KitchenAid informed me, That was just the way it was on some units. I found that unsatisfactory, so they sent a technician out who basically did nothing. I called the retailer, who replaced the unit completely with a new dishwasher within a couple of weeks. The new unit was installed in January, 2014. It came with a one year manufacturers warranty, and I purchased an extended warranty good through 2019. Since we are at our second home much of the time, and use this dishwasher twice weekly on average, we thought we would be safe with the new unit, which had a properly installed handle, by the way. No such luck. Shortly before Thanksgiving, 2015, while the unit was less than two years old, the top pull-out drawer fell down, landing on the dishes below. We removed the top drawer/pull out unit, and tried running it without the top drawer, but no luck. The unit would not operate without the top drawer. I called the warranty company, Bankers Insurance. They dont cover mechanical parts, I was told. So I called KitchenAid, and the wait was so long I was directed to their website, where I was instructed to enter my zip code to find a service technician. So I did, and the results? NO SERVICE in my area... impossible to believe, with over a million people in my greater metro area! Nonetheless, I contacted the retailer, who gave me the name of a service company. Their technician came out today, took one look, and said that the problem was a repetitive one, a defective part that KitchenAid was replacing with metal parts. No more plastic -- they had so many issues with this part that they were in most cases repairing the defective parts at no charge. That of course, was not my luck when I called KitchenAid. Nope, no replacement. We are not showing any problems with that model! Exact words. Not their problem! But they would be happy to direct my call to the parts department where I could order the parts, and pay for them, of course. I spent over a thousand dollars on this dishwasher, it gets light use, is less than two years old, and it wont run without a cheap plastic pull out part that will cost me well in excess of $200 to replace, because they only sell the entire mechanism. My biggest regret? I specified KitchenAid for my dishwasher in my second home. Trust me, they are not what they used to be, nor is their customer service department.

We purchased model #KSS048QTB02 in August of 2009. This was the second 48 KitchenAid built-in we purchased along with all other high-end KitchenAid appliances in our kitchen. On January 22, 2016 the refrigerator could not maintain temperature and I called for service - right before a blizzard was expected. The factory warranty service provider was able to schedule with me for the next day but my extended warranty coverage would not send that particular provider. Their provider could not come out for a week. We purchased a small refrig to get us through and figured it could be a backup. We still lost about $1,000 of frozen meats and food that could not fit in the small refrig. Their service guy could not handle the problem - determined to be compressor failure - because they are not qualified to do sealed system repairs. Whatever that means. The original factory warranty service provider had a tech injured and was no longer available to come out to fix. KitchenAid said part WAS available but 2 days later was no longer available. Apparently so many back orders, they went out right away. I have now ordered privately and should get one from next batch supposedly later this month. My appliance salesperson tells me KitchenAid is trying to protect the brand, but I have not seen any help from them or the warranty company they recommend - Federal Warranty Service/Assurant. I have been getting the runaround for weeks. Every time I call they tell me claims will be in touch with me in 4-5 business days. They say the unit is no longer repairable and they will offer buyout - I presume they mean buyout of my service contract which is nothing considering this was basically a $10,000 refrigerator that barely lasted 6 years. Never again. So much for brand quality. What a disappointment. In every way.

We purchased our KitchenAid Microhood KHMS2050SBT in Dec. of 2007. It was installed Jan. of 2008. Until recently, we have enjoyed using this unit. However, two weeks ago, we set the timer (no heat setting) for 40 minutes and in about 25 minutes, I noticed a burning smell. We know the microwave itself was not on. I followed the smell and it was clearly coming from the microwave and getting more smelly by the minute. I did not check the controls read-out, I just quickly opened the door to see what was going on. The interior was full of smoke and the center of the glass tray had turned black. Once the smoke/heat cleared, we found that the center of the glass tray was in fractures, practically a hole. The plastic trivet below had melted onto the bottom of the interior. We want to know why the microwave started up when only the timer was set. I see no other similar complaints about this model and we are just beginning to work it through with an NSI Protection Plus service vendor. It seems to clearly be some sort of malfunction. Initially, the vendor is saying the interior overheated so its not a warranty covered issue. I hope we dont encounter the same stonewalling from KitchenAid as others have for another microwave model. We paid dearly for a brand we assumed was the highest quality, maybe not. Until this is resolved, we have no microwave - bummer!

As I write this, my oven is being repaired for the fourth time, for the same problem. Since it is out of warranty, I will be paying for this. When you try to self-clean, it goes for an hour or two, then stops, giving an error code because the plastic, yes plastic, around the latch has melted, and the oven thinks the door is open. The repairman this time told me to never again try to self clean the oven. It will just keep happening! This oven is about 6 years old, but this has been happening since it was just over a year old. Also, even when it did clean in the beginning, the glass door does not actually get clean, particularly the space left between the two panes of glass, again yes, a space left open. I would suggest the designer of this oven be punished by having to use it. Clearly these should have been recalled or replaced by KitchenAid, as they are aware of the problem. But no such luck, at least not that I am aware of.

I have owned a KitchenAid Gas Range/Convection Oven KGSA906PSS for several years. I attempted to use the self-clean feature for the first time ever yesterday. I wished I had searched for KitchenAid complaints on this website first. Apparently, I am one of many who has burned up the oven control panel by merely using a feature of the oven. How is this possible that there is no recall or product support from KitchenAid for such a common problem and obvious product defect? I called KitchenAid and as you can guess from their low ratings on this and other sites. They were zero help and I got the impression they could care less if any of us ever buy a KitchenAid product again. They should be happy to know that I in fact would never buy another KitchenAid product or recommend that anyone else ever does. The repair (punishment) cost is estimated at $600. This is a repair for attempting to use the oven clean feature one time. One of the features we looked for on an oven although for some reason (thankfully) we didnt use. This represents a full 45 percent of the ovens purchase price and yet KitchenAid has no assistance or comment. Good Job, KitchenAid. Reading about other peoples failures with KitchenAids eager to help service department we will not even bother to try to get any support for an obvious known issue. Having a look at the internet we were provided with numerous incidents describing the same problem. Apparently there is a one time thermal switch attached to the rear wall of the oven that fails to open when the temperature gets too hot and kills the power to the rest of the Range including the door lock. I sourced out the part (75 dollars) at a local Appliance Parts store and installed it. Needless to say with the new part installed, an hour into the self clean cycle it blew again. I am not about to buy a third one. I guess we will never be able to use the self clean feature on this oven. The Dishwasher, Model KUDS40CVSSO had the pump motor go after a year. Cost us 400 dollars for a new one. Service man said that the design was poor and we could expect the pump to fail again. He also noted that our Range had a Keypad/Display that would probably fail as he had replaced several in the last while. More good news.To add insult to injury, the toaster, Model KMT211OB0 gave it up shortly after the dishwasher did. The rack would no longer stay down when the side handle was depressed. We just threw it out and bought a different brand instead and it works just fine. Yeah, Im upset. So is my wife as KitchenAid was her preference for our new kitchen and she wanted our appliances to match. I guess they do to some extent, they are all pieces of crap, aside from the microwave Model YKHMS1850SS-2 that still seems to be fine. Buyer beware, do your research before spending your money. Im doing plenty of that now looking for new appliances and KitchenAid would never even have been a contender had we known what we do now.

We purchased a top-of-the-line Kitchenaid dishwasher 2 years ago. In the first year, we had 4 service calls for various problems. The last problem was for poor draining and residual soap in the bottom of the unit. Things were replaced and the door was taken apart, then reassembled. The problem persisted. I went online and did my own research and found the solution. Each repair person was sure to remind me to keep the rinse agent full. Turns out that when you have a water softener, the rinse agent is unnecessary. Now the entire door is showing rashes of rust.We called today and were questioned how the door was being cleaned. It is cleaned with a weak soap solution and immediately dried with a very soft microfiber cloth. Okay, so its not a maintenance issue. It is a very low grade of stainless steel. Magnets stick in the door readily, but not on the stainless handle, which is obviously a higher quality of stainless. After speaking to a manager, we are being sent a cleaning solution and a polishing solution. Sadly, had we researched before paying so much, we would have been informed that this is a chronic problem with Kitchenaid and they refuse to acknowledge the problem, nor will they offer any satisfactory solution. This dishwasher was bought to replace a 27-year-old Kenmore unit that just wasnt getting the dishes as clean as it used to. When it was taken to the junk yard, it looked like it did the day it was bought. The stainless parts were flawless. Dont make the same mistake we did. Take a magnet shopping with you and avoid Kitchenaid.
