The valve that allows water to shut off in the dishwasher freezes open causing the water to flow out of the front of door and flood your floor. The first time I was standing there and thought the door may not have closed. About 4 months later I was not there and it flood the kitchen, into the hall and living room. Called Sears. They sent a repair guy. He saw the water did not turn off even when you opened the door of the dishwasher, he said these valves have a problem and sometimes it is intermittent. Sears tested the valve and of course it worked, so they said the water damage was not from that. So lesson learned take a video. So where else did the water come from? Spent $800 for a turn off valve for dishwasher under sink and plumber said no leaks. Need this valve because I do not trust this dishwasher, will be looking at Bosch.

Bought a KitchenAid Dishwasher 15 months ago. Almost $900. Wife wanted it to match our KA fridge. I thought, for that kind of $$, the KA DW would clean better and last longer than my moms $300 Kenmore. But the KA has never cleaned well, even with top-line Cascade products. This week, it would start but not complete a cycle. Nothing in the manual about this. Called customer service. Took them 20 minutes to tell me they have no troubleshooting advice for this problem. My only option was to pay for a service call and the machine is just 3 months out of warranty! I told the lady that I would be writing many uncomplimentary reviews. Im convinced that KitchenAid is not worth the extra money. It is NOT a better product.

KitchenAid Superba double oven dies every time we try to self-clean. I told my wife not to try it today. She did and it died after the cleaning cycle had been on for about an hour. Now we are looking forward to getting a Sears repairman out to our house, which is in the country, and will cost us at least a few hundred dollars, again. We are not really very happy with KitchenAid. We bought all KitchenAid when we built. What a mistake. I really thought KitchenAid was a good brand. I see on the internet that lots of folks have had self-cleaning shutdowns and KitchenAid will do nothing. Anyone have any ideas about what to do? Class action?

I have a KitchenAid Double Oven Gas Range. I read up on the oven before purchase and my purchase was due to the high ratings it received. I love the double oven, but I am very disappointed with the stainless steel stove top range. I consider my self pretty careful with my appliances, but taking care of the stove top is ridiculous. It scratches easily and within weeks of use, brown stains have formed around the burners which will not come off. Of course, you cannot use abrasives and stainless steel cleaner does not work. This oven is only a few months old and I planned on having it for a long time especially with the price paid and being a KitchenAid appliance which is known to be a reputable name. I am at a loss, I am hoping KitchenAid will stand behind their name and do something to make this right.

We have had our KitchenAid dishwasher for 14 years. Over the years I have viewed many others at various friends homes and mine is better in all areas! I believe buying the Top of the line KitchenAid dishwasher that is available. I have never had a problem with this dishwasher! We have now had 3 different refrigerators from Jenn-Air and KitchenAid in the last year because they keep breaking down. The Jenn-Air refrigerators compressor completely died and they had to give us a new fridge. We picked a KitchenAid and 2 months later it stopped making ice and we found out theres a wiring problem. They are giving us a new one again. I am so frustrated with this situation.

Purchased KitchenAid refrigerator from Appliance Smart in Cumming, GA 2014. After one year and a day after purchase, ice maker and freeze stopped working. Called KitchenAid and could not get any help, had to pay 300 for extended warranty. Now one year later, the exact same problem has occurred, no ice and freeze has malfunctioned. KitchenAid refrigerators are awful and customer care gets a ZERO.

Purchased a KitchenAid microwave in 2014 to replace a microwave with a brok
Purchased a KitchenAid microwave in 2014 to replace a microwave with a broken door release mechanism. 3 years later, the same thing is happening to the KitchenAid. Door wont open when depressing the button. Seems to be a common occurrence if you check YouTube. The selling dealer offered to sell us a new one for $400. Wrote KitchenAid and was told the unit was out of warranty and if there was a problem, it would have shown up in the first few months of ownership. I didnt expect them to give me a new one for free, maybe just fix this one or offer some assistance with the expense. Two microwaves in 6 years? I will find another brand next time. Reliability, durability, and customer service are all oxymorons when it comes to KitchenAid microwaves.

Model # KUDS03STSS3 - stainless inside and out is a piece of **! I purchased it on March 2009, as of this weekend (when it went down again), I have had six service calls! So many that they extended the warranty (or so they said) - voila - no extended warranty and the pos is down again! I now need to pay to service this lemon because Whirlpool (parent co) would not classify as a lemon and replace. This is the very last time I purchase this brand. The customer service people had done nothing but apologized for the inconvenience. They could care less that you are taking multiple days of off to wait for service that should never be in the first place. I have filed a complaint with the NJ Consumer Protection and have asked for compensation for the cost of the dishwasher, and time taken off from work. I will post consequences when finished - but I am finished!

We have had KitchenAid appliances for years and when we built our new home
We have had KitchenAid appliances for years and when we built our new home 2 years ago we selected high end KitchenAid for our kitchen. We have had a problem with the water and ice dispenser from the beginning. KitchenAid sent a tech out to replace a part and one year later the same problem is back. I called KitchenAid and they scheduled an appointment with the same company that didn’t fix it the first time. I emptied the entire refrigerator as asked so they could work on it and then get a call from Guinco Service that there will be a $130 charge for the tech to come out plus the cost of parts and labor. The customer service person at KitchenAid lead me to believe they would take care of it since it is an ongoing problem. When I called them back they said, Oh no. It is out of warranty. Well why did they schedule the appointment and want to send the same people that didn’t fix it the first time. I cancelled the appointment and cleaned my refrigerator shelves since it was already empty. KitchenAid just lost a lifetime customer.

I purchased a microwave oven, model KBMS1454SBL-1. About a year and a half
I purchased a microwave oven, model KBMS1454SBL-1. About a year and a half into the product, the dashboard lights went out and stopped working. I went to the KitchenAid website and filled out their contact form in which they referenced I visit their service page. I filled everything out in on the service page. On that page it indicates the following: If your appliance is not under warranty or covered by a service contract, then the charge for the technician to come to your home will cover diagnosing the problem with the appliance, and a written estimate for the repair. To me that is vague. Does that mean that once the technician will do the repair, then I will be charged? Oh and also how much will I be charged? Well here is what happened. On March 23rd, 2013 I waited all day at home (wasting my time) waiting for this technician to come out. A representative from a company called A&E Factory Service came, looked at my unit and said, Oh, the dashboard doesnt work. It will cost $250 to replace it. I said, That is too much. Dont worry about it. I can order the part myself and do it myself as well. But it does not end here. He explained that now I have to pay him $129 for his service. I exclaimed why. He said, Well, that is what it costs! I was shocked. At no point did KitchenAid or A&E inform me of the cost for this service.April 26th I finally have time to call A&E and tell them I want a refund because no one at any point asked me if I wanted a service for $129. They explained that they would not give me a refund. I spent about 40 minutes on the phone with them and another 40 with KitchenAid, each blaming each other or saying that I should have assumed that it would not be free. But if KitchenAid does not state the cost and the contractor A&E doesnt explain how much prior to, how is that a fair practice? My service order number with A&E is **.I will never buy a KitchenAid product again. A&E explained that it does happen sometimes and that I should ask the KitchenAid management to do a conference call with A&E to get a refund. I called Kitchen Aid and they dont even consider the idea. They just say, Its not our problem. Your product is out of warranty so its not our problem. What a joke. A company that truly can give a rats ** about its products or customers! If I had wanted someone local to fix my problem like A&E and called them myself instead of doing the service through KitchenAid, A&E explained that they would have informed me prior to coming out. But because I did it through KitchenAid, then its not their problem. They are only supposed to show up, diagnose, collect money and then leave. Nice little partnership they got going! Screw the little guy, then waste his time and then try to overcharge for a part. Unbelievable! Never again! I will stick to brands that actually go out of their way and help their customers, whether a product is in warranty or not! Never again!

The knobs on this range are made plastic on metal posts. The first knob wore and broke within the first year of using the range. The ceramic top range is slow to heat and then superheats once cooking begins. The oven temps are way variable and cooking times are way off from recipes. I have ordered two new knobs at the cost of almost $40 and I know that the other two should be replaced as they will break any day. I use my range nearly every day and thought that KitchenAid was a good brand when I bought it. I am sorry to say that I do not recommend that anyone buy this brand right now. Maybe they will improve but I think that they are making their money on replacement parts.

KitchenAid Aqualift model KGRS306BSS - This is by FAR the worst oven I have
KitchenAid Aqualift model KGRS306BSS - This is by FAR the worst oven I have ever had the misfortune of purchasing. Where to begin...? The glass door has condensation build up between the outer and inner panes. The oven heat vents through the FRONT of the oven door right below the gas burner knobs which makes them hot and difficult to use when both oven and burners are in use. The gas cooktop itself has so many indentations that cleaning spills/residue is a multi-towel project by itself not to mention the materials used to make the cooktop hold on to residue like Ive never seen. Theres another oven heat vent at the rear of the cooktop below the control panel for the oven which can heat up the key pad above it. When the oven is in use for prolonged baking (think turkey), the rear right burner gets hot when not in use. If I could shout it from the rooftops I would tell the world not to buy this oven and to forget about KitchenAid all together as an appliance brand.

I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher a year and a half ago. When I moved in the house, there was a perfectly good working dishwasher in the kitchen, only problem was it was from the 1970s. I replaced it with a sleek stainless steel KitchenAid dishwasher. It worked flawlessly until just after the warranty expired. First, the top shelf did not get very clean despite my efforts to clean the jets. Then the rollers of the top tray broke making it very difficult to operate the tray. I suspect this is why it is not cleaning well because the tray is misaligned. Now, the dishwasher often does not work at all. It beeps and nothing else. It even beeps if both trays are removed. KitchenAid was not helpful at all when I contacted them. Avoid!!!

I purchased all new KitchenAid stainless steel appliances in October 2009 from Bad Boy in Whitby. I also purchased the Gold extended warranty. I noticed about a week ago March 24, 2015 that the bottom of the fridge (model: KBRS22KVss1 and S/N KY3628480) has a crack right in the middle coming out from under the deli drawer. I called Bad Boy but of course the extended warranty expired in December 2014. I then checked the warranty in the KitchenAid manual but it expired the same time. I have never in all my 62 years seen or heard of a cracked liner yet in the manual it states it will pay for replacement or repair of the refrigerator/freezer cavity liner if the part cracks due to defective materials or workmanship. Just on the off chance I called KitchenAid....Due to the age of the refrigerator there is no warranty but they can send a serviceman for $89.00 for the first 15 mins. I talked to the parts department to get an idea of that cost and the liner is not a replaceable part but they do have a patch kit. He could not tell me how much that would be or what it consists of as its a service kit and hes not a serviceman. Beware appliances are made to last 5 years only.

I purchased the top of the line KitchenAid dishwasher 2 years ago, paid over $900. I bought the extended warranty and it broke within first 2 years. Turns out there are no parts for the repairs. National back order. This is a new appliance. I paid $250 for the extended warranty only to get a buyout of $573. I am now without a dishwasher and out over $600. My other rant is that they are now going to throw this thing in a dump. What is their carbon footprint? I have never been so dissatisfied with an appliance in my life! KitchenAid can kiss my ass!

I attempted to cook a baked potato in our KitchenAid over the range microwa
I attempted to cook a baked potato in our KitchenAid over the range microwave (KHMS2040WSS). Please note that using the sensor setting was nothing new to me, I have used the Baked Potato sensor setting many times before with good results. This last time though went horribly wrong, the potato wasnt baked when I returned, it was charred to a black ash. It wasnt even recognizable as a potato. The microwave safe dinner plate that it was on had cracked into pieces and started to adhere to the glass rotating dish. The rotating glass dish itself fractured right at the center and the plastic pivot almost entirely melted. The white interior was stained dark gray with smoke soot. I called Sears because the microwave is only 11 months old. Sears sent out an appliance specialist from A&E Service. The A&E technician performed a few tests and found the appliance was working properly and had not malfunctioned. The finding was that it was my fault as the consumer. My next call was to Whirlpool customer service at 1-800-253-1301. They were unable to help for two days because no report from A&E was available. Finally on day three, the office at 1-800-253-1301 called A&E and got the report. Then the Whirlpool representative stated they were not going to assist because it was found that the potato caught on fire not the microwave. I asked for a supervisor and was transferred to another office (I know it was another office because the toll free number changed to 1-866-640-7146). At any rate, after an hour long call which truly amounted to wheel spinning, the supervisor agreed to call A&E again to see if any other options were available. Much later that same day, he left a voice mail stating that Whirlpool would help with the cost of parts. Ugh, I am so upset! The microwave is virtually new and I didnt choose how long to cook the potato, it was supposed to sense this and cook it accordingly. I have had $99 microwaves perform for years without incident. Then you really think that you are doing yourself a favor by branding up to KitchenAid and paying the extra cash for nothing. Has anyone else had this experience where the sensor setting overcooking something to the point of charring, smoke, fire etc? Have you contacted Whirlpool and if so, with what result? I feel that they should at minimum fully restore the microwave for no cost. Optimally, I would like to have a new microwave or a full reimbursement.

This KitchenAid oven (KSGG700ESS) is a safety hazard for anyone with children or others as the exterior becomes so hot, it is untouchable. I had the same oven delivered as a replacement, and had the exact same issue. Plus, KitchenAid is in denial, and takes multiple departments and calls to try to argue with them, this after a service tech came out, confirmed it was extremely hot, but wouldnt write the word defect. Refrigerator Model KSC23C8EYY03 just a year old. Problem with ice forming behind bottom drawer in refrigerator section. Needs a new fan and thermistor. After waiting for parts and then put on the service schedule, the repairman came but had the wrong part. Now, again waiting for the part and to be put on the service schedule. Without a refrigerator for three weeks. Also, the fan is encased in styrofoam held together by tape. No wonder there is a problem. Also the reviews for the repair company sent by KitchenAid were not favorable. I found this out firsthand.Updated on 03/10/2016: In August I had ice built up behind the drawers in the bottom of the refrigerator. KitchenAid replaced the fan and thermistor. I purchased a KitchenAid French door refrigerator with a bottom freezer. It is now 3 years old. It began to leak so I called for service from the place where I purchased the refrigerator. The repair man immediately told me this was a problem caused by a faulty drain and KitchenAid was replacing the parts free of charge however they wouldnt cover the service charge. I am sure the part which is just a drain costs almost nothing but I will have to pay a huge service charge. When I spoke to KitchenAid I asked why I wasnt notified that there was a defective part before the warranty ran out so that the service would have been covered. I asked the customer service rep what they needed to do to have a new unit sent out. I was told, Nothing, your parents signed the extended warranty which states repair, it doesnt say replacement. After a few months of use, the side of the maple cabinet next to the dishwasher began to turn black and we noticed it getting hot when the dishwasher was being used. We uninstalled the dishwasher and noticed the panel was delaminating opposite the vent on the dishwasher. We called for service and they looked at the problem. And after they called KitchenAid, they said there was nothing wrong with the dishwasher and the vent could not leak steam because it was only open when the water was filling to vent the pressure and because of the weight of the small plastic door, it could not let steam out. We contacted Hhgregg where we purchased and not much help. This product is under warranty; definitely a design problem and a company who is not willing to look into or correct it.

I bought a KSCS25INS00 side by side and in its 3rd year of operation, the center wall between the fridge and the freezer started getting too hot to touch. When I bought the fridge from Sears, it stayed in their warehouse for one and half year (paid for) due to some family issue and therefore, when the problem happened, I was told it’s out of warranty. A technician checked it out and claimed the control board is bad. To my surprise, some time later, I was told KitchenAid does not sell this part anymore and I have to send it to some rebuilder for the tune of almost $500.00 plus shipping and of course, labor (about $875.00). I don’t think this a fair deal, to spend nearly $3000.00 for a fridge (I figured buying high end appliance will have fewer problems). That’s not bad enough. I had bought a stove and a dishwasher as well. The stove shows an error message and I have to pull it out and disconnect and reconnect every so often. The dishwasher had broken basket pieces and broken door spring line and roller. Now Im in the hell of a mess. Do I spend $800-900 fixing what I have or spend $1200.00 to buy another piece of junk to replace my HIGH END KitchenAid?

Kitchenaid dishwasher broken for 2nd time in 3 years. Weve had a repairman out once already at a cost of $200 to fix an electrical problem with the control panel. I watched him as he reconnected some word, and got the power to return. Worked for about another year and its broken again. Obviously, the front sensor panel is defective. Ive never seen such crap. My old Maytag which just wore out after 14 years, was replaced with the KitchenAid which consumer reports was the most reliable. I have to have another expensive repair technician, who from the looks of things, is equally incompetent. I learned this from a previous repair on my refrigerator. Until they sent out a guy with 20+ years of experience, it wasnt fixed right.

We purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher (model # KUDS30IXSS4) about 3 1/2 year
We purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher (model # KUDS30IXSS4) about 3 1/2 years ago when we remodeled the kitchen. The plastic clips that held the upper rack in place broke 2 different times... This was shortly after the warranty expired so I paid both times for the repair. KitchenAid did finally replace this plastic clip with a metal clip on all of their dishwashers but they called it an upgrade and not a recall so they did not reimburse me for the almost $300.00 I had spent on previously repairing the faulty clips. Shortly after the plastic clips had broken the second time the dishwasher made a funny noise. I shut the washer off and then restarted it... Upon restarting it...it seemed fine... However, shortly after this it stopped cleaning the dishes...This was right in the interim when KitchenAid replaced the plastic clip and went to the metal. What we did not realize is that pieces of the broken plastic went down into the chopper/grinder and broke that section of the dishwasher. When the repair man finally realized what had happened we called KitchenAid. I asked KitchenAid to step up and take responsibility for the faulty design and they declined saying that there was not enough evidence/proof that it was faulty design. Needless to say I will never purchase another KitchenAid/Whirlpool product only because they will not step up and take responsibility for their product. Final note...this new repair will cost another $300.00.

Purchased a KitchenAid KSSC48QTS00 about 4 years ago. New though purchased from a freight damage company so no warranty. Paid just over $3,200 when it retailed for $8,500+ so took the risk. BAD DECISION! Started pinging a few weeks ago, had the factory authorized repair person on site that and was informed of the bad board, no replacement problem so many have posted about. Getting ready to send the board to corecentricsolutions.com as theyve gotten good reviews from others with the same issue. No spare fridge so well sort through and keep what we can fit into a couple of coolers.Amazing how many people have posted online in various places with POOR to WORSE customer service from Whirlpool. Checked and just found **. Im betting we see a lot more of this kind of activism against them. My mother passed 4 and a half years ago and gave me some money so I decided to invest in a nice gas stove since my daughter went to culinary school. Less than four and a half years one burner went. Locked up. Second burner went. Handle locks up. Third burner went. Handle locks up. This week my oven quit working. It has a small oven on top. Big convection on the bottom. Now the big oven convection oven totally quit working. What a waste of money.

We bought our house in 2004 and immediately started anew with appliances, granite etc., in our kitchen. I chose KitchenAid because I owned it years ago and had great success. We bought the most expensive dishwasher, microwave, slide-in stove and trash compactor available, thinking it would last. As you know, this stuff isnt inexpensive. We purchased the convection slide-in stove (KESC308LSS0), which died on Thanksgiving Day amid turkey cooking. A halogen microwave, which died six months ago and had to be replaced with a convection microwave that sounded like a bucket of bolts until repair, arrived under warranty one month later. The dishwasher has plastic tabs in it on the slider for the rack that break and fall into the motor. We repaired this ourselves twice with new motors and rack sliders, which now have been redesigned without the plastic tabs. We needed a part for the stove but it is discontinued, so we will have to live without it. Thankfully it is just cosmetic. We await a new control board for the oven as we speak and if we are lucky, it will work; if not, we will have to pay someone to fix it. My point is 8-year shelf life? Discontinued parts? I will never buy KitchenAid again. If we had had to pay someone to fix all this stuff, it would have been very expensive. I am really disappointed.

I purchased a stainless steel KitchenAid dishwasher from Lowes a few years ago to replace my 14-year-old perfect Whirlpool. The KitchenAid worked well for awhile, but suddenly the entire inside tub had a film on it, and now every glass, every utensil, every plate, etc., has a white film all over. I have tried everything - changing detergents, washing every dish thoroughly before loading into dishwasher, etc. Nothing has worked. I cant even clean the film off once it is on. After reading the reviews on this site, I feel like calling KitchenAid will only frustrate and upset me. This dishwasher was expensive and it is a huge disappointment. I would advise anyone to look at other brands first.

For what should be the top of the line for the Whirlpool Corporation, you should run not walk away from any KitchenAid dishwasher you see in the showroom. We purchased a new home less than 3 years ago which had a brand new Kitchenaid dishwasher. We are a family of 6 who cooks at home most nights so the dishwasher gets a lot of use. In the less than 3 years we have had the control panel motherboard replaced 2 times (thankfully under warranty) and last week the dishwasher started to leak significant amounts of water ruining part of our kitchen floor. We had a technician come out and he knew right away it was the sump. He openly said this thing is a lemon which Whirlpool has known about for years and refuses to fix. We asked if we could fix it and his response was Sure, these are one of the parts I carry with me to all jobs because they fail so much. However the repair cost was almost $500 so we have decided to send this piece of junk to the curb and purchase another brand. Whirlpool has lost a customer for life.

I have 10+ yr old KitchenAid Superba double ovens. I was baking cookies at 350 degrees in top oven. I took one tray out after 7 minutes and cookies on top were burnt. Door locked itself before I was able to move other cookie trays around. Smoke in oven and perhaps oven fan not working. We turned the wall breaker on and off several times to restart the electronics, which seemed to indicate fan was working when electricity was on. After an hour of oven smoking, refusing to open and oven message of too hot, flames were seen through the door, like a smoldering fireplace. I ended up calling 911 for oven fire. After trying to open the door and let smoke out, the appliance cooled down apparently while firemen were in the kitchen so that the flames dissipated and door would open. Apparently, the flames were from the cookies igniting.

Wow, wish I had found this website the day before yesterday! Just cleaned my oven for the first time since it was installed in June 2010 - dont judge. Same story as everyone else - self clean worked really well but when I turned it on today to do Christmas baking - nothing! If I had read these a few days earlier, I would have kept my dirty oven. Now I have to find someone to fix it in the week leading up to Christmas. Too bad. I actually really liked using this oven. Shame on salesmen selling us these products they know have issues.

We have a Kitchenaid KUDI01FLSS2 dishwasher. It came with the house we purchased six years ago - the unit was about 1 year old at the time. We have had constant problems: touch panel failed ($200), control board failed ($250), heater element failed which required a heater control board upgrade (design defect) ($250), chopper failed three times ($30 ea), door hinges failed, numerous plastic interior parts failed (all are overpriced), the door latch has a fundamental design problem (we have to use a clamp to keep the door from popping open in cycle). I am an engineer and was able to do all the repairs myself which saved hundreds of additional dollars. The dishwasher is a $1000 piece of junk. I would have scrapped in early on if I had only known!

The KSSC48QTS00 refrigerator I put into service in Dec. 2007 failed Aug. 3, 2015. I am having the same experience with KitchenAid as many others. The circuit boards controlling the refrigerator failed due to an overheating problem brought on due to a design flaw of the compressor housing on top of the unit not being large enough to adequately have proper air flow which caused the circuit boards to overheat and fail. Like the rest of you, I too was told the of plant being destroyed making the parts unavailable to fix the problem. They are now available at the consumers expense because of the warranty expiring. That seems reasonable until I find that the failure was caused by the enclosure being too inadequate to handle the heat load generated by the compressor and motor. I was told that their authorized service technicians have been trained on how to modify the upper enclosure to add more air flow to the newly designed circuit boards to keep them from overheating. I was told that the new board will carry a one year warranty. That seems reasonable, except that if they fail due to heat not being dissipated properly that I would again be responsible for any parts and labor to fix the unit.If a product has to be redesigned for the new parts to work properly, that the expense of the modification should be borne by the company that initially designed the product, not the consumer. I tried in vain to relay this to them. All I got was that it is out of warranty. The consumer is responsible for the parts, labor, and any other expenses associated with the repair. They do though say that they are sorry for our inconvenience and that we have a good day, and thank you for choosing KitchenAid.

I purchased the KitchenAid KESK901SSS Electric Slide In Range five years ago as part of a kitchen remodel. My experience is that the product is inferior and cannot withstand normal use, and parts are prohibitively expensive. A few years ago it cost me $600 to replace cooktop after a bottle fell on it and was not covered by insurance. More recently, after spilling water on the stovetop the oven control unit stopped working. Who would engineer a range that cannot withstand a water spill??? I was told by the technician sent by insurance carrier that replacement parts again were expensive -- in the $500-$600 range. Since I had insurance, I thought that this would be an easy fix. After waiting two months, it turns out that the replacement parts are unavailable! The best insurance would offer was a buyout at a fraction of the original cost of the product. I checked with a reputable appliance repair shop to see if I could have it repaired on my own. They wouldnt touch it... They said that parts were expensive, could not guarantee that it would even work, and that they have gotten stuck in the past. I am now forced with the inconvenience and expense of purchasing a new range at current prices which are twice as much as original model. In addition, since the original product did not slide in flush to the wall (there is a 3 gap), I need to have my custom granite countertop modified to accommodate a new range. I am very dissatisfied with KitchenAid (and its parent company, Whirlpool) quality and service.

I purchased a new refrigerator less than 90 days ago when it started malfunctioning. First the water dispenser wouldnt work (unless I was in another room when it would come on and dispense all by itself and all over my floor). Then the ice dispenser wouldnt work, followed by every other possible mechanical failure. The doors did not seal and the ice dispenser wouldnt seal properly causing frost to form around it and on the back panel inside the fridge. Now it wont cool properly. The store said it would take over a week to get a new computer panel and kits to fix the seals. I have to unplug and plug back in to get it to run at all.The KitchenAid customer experience center said they will only repair it, not exchange it and essentially “Too bad, so sad for you. There is nothing for us to do.” I have filed a claim in small claims court to get the purchase price of $3800.00 back and will have to get another fridge in the meantime. Extremely poor product and even worse service from the local store and manufacturer.

We bought all new appliances for our lake house from the same company we had bought appliances for our primary home (and NO it was not from a big box store but a legitimate appliance company). In 2013 we purchased KitchenAid refrigerator, dishwasher, double oven, range, microwave. The first season we had issues with the freezer draw icing shut and condensationing. Called the company. They came out and made some adjustments. Everything seemed ok. In 2014 we noticed the ice would work periodically, but then just started working. The range and microwave have never kept the correct clock time. Then late summer about a month prior to shutting the house down for the season. The freezer just stopped working. Then wishing 14 days the refrigerator stopped working. Being the end of the season, we emptied the appliance. I have called the company that we had purchased the appliances from (which had went bankrupt and was purchased by another vendor). I have yet to receive a call from the vendor. Know Im stuck on an island and trying to find an appliance company to hopefully repair my 3-year-old refrigerator. Unless the appliance can be repaired reasonably soon and at a fair cost I would never purchase or recommend KitchenAid appliances again.

My counter depth KitchenAid refrigerator cant be repaired just 2 years after I bought it new. The power supply board I need is no longer available and Whirlpool couldnt care less. They claim there is a 12-year warranty but the electronic part I need is only warranted for 1 year. Therefore why bother having a 12-year warranty if the part you need cant be purchased. Therefore the effective warranty is only ONE YEAR. This is a $7,000 paperweight now. No one should purchase anything made by this company.

The dishwasher doesnt clean, it doesnt dry, you cant interrupt the cycle (add a dish) without starting over. I have to make sure the dishes are spotless before putting them in the washer. Many times the detergent door wont open and when it does the packet just sits in the holder and never gets into the washing area. At 12 months, the refrigerator started leaking - we had a cracked drain pan. Then a couple months later the ice maker failed. The warranty had just run out and KitchenAid was good enough to repair that under warranty. Yesterday, 14 months old $975.00 dishwasher would not quit running. We called, were told to turn off / check circuit breaker. We did. That didnt fix it. Now, will not honor warranty (2 months past) and are sending a repairman to fix. There are just two of us and we only run the dishwasher every couple of days. Very disappointing!

I bought a KitchenAid dishwasher May 2013. HORRIBLE. Within weeks, problems showed up. Wine glasses exploded in top rack, their shards damaging the engine. Food sticks and dries on dishes, requiring hand washing of ALL items first. Plastic mixing bowls melt in top rack. And that top rack, so flimsy, falls off its track at will. When I complained to KA, they said it was my tough luck and, because they dont replace their faulty products, that I should shell out more money for extended service. I did that. And wow, what a nightmare thats become! Horrible and rude technicians come out, late and almost always accusatory: dont use right detergent, dont use right amount of detergent. While building a new home we selected KitchenAid for several of the appliances. The freezer in this refrigerator failed after less than 2 years. The factory approved service company was called and on the first visit they determined it to be a evaporator fan. Of course they did not have the part. So it was replaced on visit number 2. It failed again after about 1 month and visit number 3 was scheduled. This time it was determined to be a controller board. Again, the tech did not have the part so visit number 4 is scheduled. Bought a very nice KitchenAid refrigerator less than a year ago, was one of the better models (KFIS29PBMS00) and today it is repairable but according to the warranty service technician, it would be cheaper to replace it but that will take 5 BUSINESS days. WHAT? Surely that is a joke, this company makes good products and I thought would stand behind their warranty as in replacing something quickly. In 5 Business days when THEY make a decision, all my food will be spoiled ($600 down the drain). If they know they have an issue, and my issue is known, and they determine it is best to replace the appliance, why in HELL does it take 5 business days to make that decision? Obviously there is an issue with this model.Do yourself a favor, find a different brand, or expect any issues that are essentially recalls to take 5 business days to decide upon and who knows how much longer to actually get appliance in house. I have called them 3 times, and no remedy. Just the standard it takes 5 business days to go before a review board... WTF? That is BS. We should have bought the Sub Zero. KitchenAid has gone the way of any other use to be good product. The customer service rep thought it comical that I would get on the social media sites and provide this information. If you are in the habit of spending 3K for a throw away item and like to buy new major products every year, this is the one for you. For the rest of us, run and find something else and make sure the company will actually do as they claim on the warrant in a reasonable time frame. The issue is a known problem with the compressor that causes a leak of refrigerant over time. The company has determined it is cheaper for them to replace the product rather than fix it with proper materials. Yet, they take 5 business days to make this determination? If it is a known issue with all the same error codes and profiles of the same problem, the right thing to do is to apologize to the customer and ask them when they are available to receive the replacement. Now I am out $600+ on food.

Thought Id share my KitchenAid experience. I purchased a refrigerator (KFIS29P), dishwasher (HUDS35FX), range (KGRS206) and microwave (KHMC185) on August 30, 2012. The first time we used the oven, an F30 error code popped up and it shut off. It came back on and would do this intermittently thereafter. I then tried out the new dishwasher and found that it didnt clean any better than the cheap one I replaced. On to the refrigerator, I noticed the seal between the door and icemaker was constantly wet and dripping water next to the ice bucket, freezing it in place. So after my first week with my new appliance set, I had to call service, something I didnt have to do for 15 years prior with my old appliances. One tech couldnt handle the different appliances, so separate appointments were needed for each individual unit. The repairman told me the dishwasher was fine, but unfortunately, the new dishwasher just doesnt clean as well as the older ones. It would have been nice to know this before spending $1,000 for an inferior unit. My friends Bosch dishwasher doesnt seem to have this substandard cleaning issue. Then Im told the refrigerator seal appears okay and it is probably due to the weather? Thats a new one. Not happy with this explanation and the constant need to dry the inside of the refrigerator. Another serviceman came out. He advised the seal was bad and a new icemaker door was needed. At that time, it was also noticed that the ice bucket was starting to rust in the bottom. A replacement was also ordered. The refrigerator issue is still being dealt with, while I even saw the outside stainless near the water/ice dispenser was starting to get a little surface rust. The range is requiring a new sensor and complete electronic panel to get it running properly. The microwave has been the only thing that has worked without issues, though when I bought the set, I was told it was all made in the USA. However, the microwave says Made in China. Maybe thats a good thing. The way Im asked every time I call about getting an extended warranty, its obvious its very much needed with the lacking quality of these appliances. My wife was so happy getting her new stainless appliance set, and I was happy about buying what I thought was a quality name - KitchenAid. We were both let down. So many problems in the first month of ownership, Im definitely concerned for the future. Paying over $5,000 for the set and now being practically forced to purchase an extended warranty to try to get a full life from them is disappointing. Im sorry to say I cant recommend KitchenAid to anyone nor would I likely purchase this brand in the future.

We purchased a KitchenAid side by side fridge from Sears ten months ago. I have since had it serviced for four times and Im now going on my fifth. This time around, I will have replaced nearly every part in the fridge. My complaint is not only with regards to the condition of the product and Sears failure to take responsibility for it (not to mention all the food Ive had to throw out), but the fact the Sears service department makes it extremely difficult to get them to come out in a timely matter.Last time we checked our fridge, it was 60 degrees. According to Sears, it would be a minimum of one week before they could come out and repair the fridge, even though our last repair guy had the part needed to fix the fridge shipped directly to our home. The part is currently sitting on our kitchen counter. I guess my question is, is there a lemon law that protects my family from Sears and the obviously faulty item that they sold us? If so, I would like this fridge replaced. Im very much considering contacting an attorney. What are your thoughts?

When we did our kitchen renovation, we put in a top of the line KitchenAid Dishwasher (and double oven). The dishwasher control panel stopped working after 2 weeks and had to be replaced. Since then, the new control locks up on a regular basis requiring me to reset the fuse in the fuse box to make it work again. The detergent dispenser doesnt open at least once in every 10 washes, requiring me to put the dishes through a second cycle to clean them. We have been having similar problems with the KitchenAid double convection oven - the control panel had to be replaced one month after the warranty ended costing us $400 to repair. Both appliances are just over one year old. I wouldnt recommend any KitchenAid to anyone.

Also, unless you lock the unit, if you lean over it to get something out of a cabinet, you can easily turn it on with your body without knowing it. Overall, this is a dangerous unit to own.

The first set of issues were fixed with a new control panel but now when I try to start it, it blinks three times and gives me 15 beeps. Sometimes I can reset the breaker (requiring a trip downstairs to the panel) and get it to work. What garbage they have produced. I have never had these type of problems with a dishwasher from any other manufacturer. They need to stand behind their products. And Sears, Greggs, etc. should stop selling KitchenAid until they do.

The glass window on my two-week-old KitchenAid Superba double oven with convection exploded last night during the cleaning cycle. Glass flew out all over the floor, clogged the vents of the oven, and terrified me. Thankfully, I was home and able to turn off the unit before anything else happened. Now, I am afraid to replace this with another KitchenAid, especially after seeing these other instances of glass doors shattering.

Just like the last poster, my KitchenAid KUDS30IX is the WORST appliance I have ever purchased. Just 4 months after the one year warranty expired the already very wobbly top rack started losing plastic pieces and falling off when it had dishes in it. I called and they immediately knew what my problem was. They already had repair kits available for the problem which tells me many others have the same problem. Some of the parts in the repair kit are metal. Now it is not getting water to the top sprayers which means the top dishes are not getting clean. All the interior parts are flimsy and unstable except the stainless interior. The grinder gets louder by the day. I am completely dissatisfied with this product. I had other KitchenAids which were better quality, but I guess KitchenAid does not worry about making a quality product anymore. Warning. Dont buy one, youll regret it.

I am a single mom who worked hard to purchase the gas range of my dreams. But ever since I bought this range it has been one nightmare after another. The oven glass shattered on its own one day when I was sitting in the kitchen having my coffee; the gas leaks every time I turn on the top oven; the knobs constantly break and have to be replaced every two years. Sometimes I really think this range is possessed! Possessed or not, this range is a hazard that I need to get rid of very quickly. If you are considering purchasing one of these ranges, think again. By far the worst decision my life.

There are many issues with KitchenAid dishwashers manufactures with the past three years and KitchenAid DOES NOT stand behind their products. My mother had the motor leak on hers after three years of light usage. I’ve had to wash dishes by hand due to its inability of dispersing water after 2.5 years of normal use. KitchenAid only offers to replace parts but wants the consumer to pay for labor, as well as house calls to fix a very faulty product. My adjustable top rack also broke at 2 years. This is a shame when people pay close to a grand expecting a quality product that should be reliable for longer than 2-3 years. My 20 year old dishwasher was far more reliable than this overpriced hunk of junk!

Our son bought a KitchenAid KUDS201XWH4 replacement dishwasher for us a few years ago. Like everyone else has mentioned, the prongs holding the upper rack rollers in place broke off causing precarious loading of the upper rack, in order to keep the wheels from falling off completely. I went online and ordered two replacement roller assemblies. Surprisingly, even though order acknowledgement indicated out of stock, the parts were delivered in a few days. Removal and reassembly of the roller component assemblies proved to be puzzling at first, but it didnt take long to get everything mounted correctly and working again. Now we stack the top rack with heavier items toward the rear, not in the front. Think teeter-totter balance. Unfortunately, after a recent momentary power outage our dishwashers wash cycle starts, but soon changes to the Cancel/Drain cycle then stops completely. Now what?

Bought a Kitchen Aid stainless steel, counter depth, side by side refrigerator seven years ago. Evidently, this is the max years I could get. The refrigerator is sitting in our front room needing a control board part 2307037 since October. We keep getting the run around pushing the back order date further and further into the future. We will probably end up getting a new refrigerator, and I guarantee you it will not be a Whirlpool or any other product that they make. They are very deceptive. The refrigerator has panels exactly like my cabinets and it looks immaculate. I am so disappointed in this company. I will NEVER consider this manufacturer again.

Kitchen Aid Refrigerators Model KBFC42FTSOO - Shame on you KitchenAid. I have several media contacts and once they report on all this I am hopeful that consumers will boycott your product. I also bought a 6300.00 refrigerator from the Great Outdoors in 2011. They were closing and since Sears owned them I purchased a floor model that was on display in a cabinet but had no power on to it. So I figured I saved 1100.00 between the brand new one. Wrong, I was told by the salesperson that it was a new model but when it was delivered and I tried to register it, it was manufactured in 2007. I called the store and Sears but since my receipt was stamped no refunds or exchanges they got me good. So now 3 years later the damn thing never worked right from the start and I have called it a piece of ** from the beginning. Guess what, my control panel out!! They do not have the part, tsunami story told and then broken contract with other company. I immediately called KitchenAid because I could not believe what this Tech was saying. Either I find an outside company with a rebuilt Control Panel or I can wheel the refrigerator to the side of the and basically its junk. KitchenAid confirm that they did not have the part and that the manufacturer was destroyed in the tsunami and the other company that has been listed several of these others complain are no longer is willing to make the control panels for them. I might have a chance of them rebuilding one for me directly and proceeded to provide the phone number for me which was wrong having to call them back and spend another 30 minutes on the phone. Another woman gave me two different phone numbers, none of them worked as well. After the third phone call I was provided with a company name and phone number they gave me that will certainly sell me a rebuilt one. I just paid $1200 for a rebuilt board. Interesting enough this company is offering a 10 year warranty on a rebuild control panel however KitchenAid only offers a one year warranty. I am sure kitchen Aid knew there was problems with this board for years. They should have recalled that or extend the warranty. I have never heard of a company not having a part in to be able to fix these refrigerator when people have paid so much money for them. Unless you have a money tree in your backyard and are able to pick enough for a new $8500-$10,000 refrigerator which I do not. They should stock the part and be able to control the market from other outside companies hiking it up prices to their desperate customers that just need their refrigerators fixed, realistically the part probably cost about $2.00 to make. I called KitchenAid as well, they said theyre putting in my case up for review to do the prorated. Its changed. From what Ive heard $1500 doesnt equal $6000 and these parts are not that expensive to obtain. This is absolutely the most hideous thing Ive ever seen a company do. This is the United States. This is a huge corporation. I hope everyone never buys a KitchenAid product again. Why would anyone in their right mind take $1500 for refrigerator thats worth more so we have no choice but to go to outside venues for these parts? Again outrageous, ridiculous and the most disgusting thing a manufacturing company can do. If they’re so willing to cough up the prorated amount why dont they do the right thing and at least split the cost of the part with the consumer if theyre giving them willy nilly numbers of outside companies and not controlling the market. Why would a company offer a 10 year warranty and not the manufacturer? I have purchased KitchenAid products for years. My whole kitchen is full of this top-of-the-line series. I will be slowly changing every single KitchenAid product out of my kitchen and if I am going to spend the money on that type of product itll certainly be Sub-Zero that offers a 12 year warranty from top to bottom on the refrigerators. There are hardly any bad reviews about Sub-Zero. KitchenAids competitors seems like they at least know how to stand behind their consumer. Shame on you KitchenAid. This is disgusting. Oh by the way, the tech Whirlpool factory care that KitchenAid called for me cause if I used someone else, my what little of a piece of junk warranty is left would be void. Charged me $145.00 for call and removal of board and oh by the way I have to have him reinstall the board for another $145.00. Cause warranty on motor and compressor will be voided if I reinstall. Pissed off!!

Just contacted KitchenAid because upon dealing with another issue in the freezer, I found these rusty screws in the ice maker. I explained to both the Rep and the supervisor (Chris), that it didnt matter if the refrigerator was 2 or 10 years old, the screws that touch my food should not rust. Basically they told me tuff **. Three years ago I upgraded my entire kitchen with stainless KitchenAid appliances, after much research - with a hefty price tag. I liked that the products were made in the USA and that they were considered high-end appliances. I even replaced a Bosch dishwasher (it did not live up to its reputation). The oven cost $1500 and change at the time of purchase, and the model is now over $1900. Two and a half years later my oven started having problems - it turns off during cooking and will not come back on. I had repair people out several times but they could not fix it. Turns out it needs a whole new keyboard, which is over $800 just for the part. I tried to contact KitchenAid customer service - yes, this was out of the 1 year warranty but I felt that it should not be having such problems after only 2.5-3 years (the oven that I replaced was 15 years old and was in perfect working order - and was a much lower-end appliance).Anyway, I have tried in vain to get KitchenAid to help me but they will not. My dishwasher has also had several pieces fall off that have had to be replaced. You would think this company would help their customers but no, they ignored my letter. All I wanted was to purchase a new oven at a discount - which they would normally allow but they will not let me do so because I have a home warranty plan (which I had not used to help in any way other than to diagnose the issue). Shame on KitchenAid for such horrible customer service, and for selling overpriced appliances that do not last and definitely are NOT worth the high prices. Our KitchenAid dishwasher is about 5 years old. I just loved it for the first two years, and then it never seemed to clean the dishes. So I rinsed them before putting them in the dishwasher; then, it didnt even remove the soap. I washed them and then put them in the dishwasher to rinse them. About a month ago, it started to run on its own. It was just the top drawer. I could not shut it off. Now, both drawers will not stop running. I consider this a fire hazard, and this dishwasher should be recalled before someone dies in a fire. My husband is totally disabled and is scared to be in the house in case the thing catches fire. Presently, I cannot afford to replace it. So we have to put up with two drawers full of water, which is beginning to smell. I add a little bleach every day. This dishwasher is a complete piece of overpriced junk, and I will never buy anything made by KitchenAid or any of their subsidiaries.

I bought this 1st model about 8 years or when it was a new model. After 1 year the rectify started becoming very noisy to the point that you had to shut the bedroom door because of the sound! I bought it at Brandsmart USA and they sent out their tech in 2 weeks after call and ordered some parts and took another 2 weeks to come back and install. Seemed to work fine but soon the problem was back and another 2 weeks and a repeat of the latter! To make it short this went on into my extended warranty which I purchased with fridge. After humorous service calls from different techs they have me a refund and I purchased my 2nd same model rectify believing I had just got a lemon. Well to my surprise it began after about a year later with the same problems! I lost many days of work and pounds of food in this experience and was told this was going to be replaced also but to this day I have to defrost freezer and rectify about every 30 days. So my conclusion Dont buy a KitchenAid fridge because I see now after internet investigation Im not alone!!

I purchased six appliances when I upgraded my kitchen: refrigerator, range, microwave oven, trash compactor, and beverage center to the tune of $10,000. At this point, I would never recommend KitchenAid to anyone. The microwave broke and the part was never available. After months of arguing, I had to get a new one. The refrigerator’s thermostat went out and they did not make the part. I had to get a new refrigerator/freezer. Now, I ran the clean cycle on the oven and the oven overheated and locked up for the second time. The oven is now not operable and I will have to pay a service man to put in another new thermostat. My research shows over 400 complaints. These ovens are a poor design and the self-cleaning feature cannot be used. In addition, I have had to have the trash compactor repaired. The appliances are 36 months old. And when I call KitchenAid, they really dont care to resolve the issues. Very frustrating!

Our compressor is broken on our refrigerator. The tech who came to repair it said the problem is that its a faulty compressor. This happens frequently, he said, and the company that made the faulty compressors that used to go into KitchenAid refrigerators went out of business a few years ago. One would think that if KitchenAid was using a part that it knew to be faulty it could at least give a discount on parts and/or labor when the part fails. Considering the cost of refrigerators today, its very disappointing that KitchenAid would allow customers to be charged an arm and a leg to replace a sub-par part.

I inherited a KitchenAid dishwasher (model KUD102CRBS) when I bought my house. It appears to be a mid to high-end model. It worked fine for the first 8 months or so. Then the counterbalance system for the door (which is quite heavy) broke, and the door came crashing down. Now, the latching mechanism has failed, and the door keeps popping open. The unit doesnt do such a great job at cleaning the dishes, either. From what I have gathered, KitchenAid used to be a good brand. I have purchased smaller items with this brand name. However, given my experience with this unit, the price that the previous owners surely must have paid and the surprising number of complaints on this site, I have changed my position. Its probably not worth the cost to repair it, so I will probably replace it with a high-quality make & model as rated by its users. Unless I hear much better things about the brand in the future, I will never buy KitchenAid again.

Repairman called back and advised that items were covered under second through fifth year warranty by manufacturer. Contacted KitchenAid 9/14/15 and appointment for their repairman was scheduled for 9/24/2015. At time KitchenAid was notified, I advised the parts that we were told were required.9/24/2015 KitchenAid repairman came and confirmed that electronic control was bad and needed replacement. He subsequent, 9/28/2015 returned and replaced electronic control and then confirmed that user interface was bad and needed replacement however, that was not covered under the warranty because, even though it is the electronic interface between the user and the electronic control, it was not considered an electronic control. My opinion is that seeing as it is a set of electronic pressure switches, connected to the electronic control by wires, it is an electronic control.9/28/15, I contacted KitchenAid and was curtly informed that it is not a covered part and that I could purchase it if I wanted. I am now back with the initial Home Warranty Company to determine if they will obtain and install the required part.

My husband and I recently built a home and purchased the entire KitchenAid Pro suite for our kitchen which included a double oven, microwave, dishwasher, induction stove top and a built in refrigerator. The product was beautiful but after 4 short months of owning the products our induction stove top chipped, the sensor on the double oven failed and now our fridge is no longer cooling. We have taken countless days off of work to have a contractor come out to fix the appliances but we have come to the final straw with the fridge. Two weeks, two contractors and two refrigerator parts later we still do not have a fridge. My husband has called KitchenAid numerous times and the customer service is absolutely terrible. You call and wait on hold for a good 20-30 minutes then once you receive a customer support specialist, they tell you to call a nearby contractor and make an appointment. Better yet, the contractor comes out and has to order the part which takes a week and you have to take another day off of work because they dont work weekends. With all of the troubles we have faced with KitchenAid/Whirlpool appliances, I would not recommend their products let alone the company. We spent a lot of money on their products and yet we sit here for over two weeks waiting for a part to figure out if that will even fix the built in fridge. Whirlpool is a multi million dollar company and we have to wait to receive a new fridge until the contractor can determine it cannot be fixed, just a great use of our money and time.

I purchased a brand new KitchenAid double oven range model KGRS505XWH01. Three weeks after use, we noticed that the paint is lifting off the front panel, above the knob on the left side. I called and they sent a repair person and it was changed. The same problem appeared 2 months later. I sent pictures to the service department and questioned why this problem is reoccurring. They told me that they are changing the service company and the new service crew will take care of it. After a month, a new panel arrived and then A&E Factory service called and set up appointment for repair. The panel was changed and again, a couple months, the same issue. I called the service department and to my surprise, they told me that they do not warranty cosmetic issues. I complained that this is a defect in design or their manufacturing process. They did not care. I sent a letter through my attorney to Jeff Fettig, President and CEO, Whirlpool Corporation. I had a call from their executive office and they promised the problem will be fixed for good. Next, we had a call from A&E Factory service for repair schedule. They changed the front panel, top tray and a burner. I thought this fixes it and were excited, but the serviceman hinted on similar problem many places which has been reoccurring. Anyway, the problem is back after four trips and now I called Whirlpool service and they are telling me that it is over a year and out of warranty. We bought the Kitchenaid combination microwave/convection oven in 2017. Our problem with the unit is a faulty door latch, that apparently is a manufacturing flaw which Kitchenaid is not addressing. Sometimes as we attempt to use the microwave, we get a message that says open/close door. This is an indication that the latch portion that is in the unit (not the door) recedes back into the unit. We have had a repair man come twice to fix the problem, with a standard $89 fee that Kitchenaid does not recognize as covered under warranty. The second time he came, he told us he gets many calls for this problem, and showed us how to fix it ourselves to avoid the service call. It is a 30 minute nuisance to get into the panel for a temporary fix. We are disappointed that Kitchenaid would sell a product that is destined to malfunction repeatedly. We are hopeful they will stand behind their good reputation and fix this manufacturers error.

About 4 years ago, I bought a top of the line Kitchen Aid dishwasher. I paid nearly $1,000 for it. I figured if I bought the best, that I wouldnt need to replace it for many years, since my aunt had 20 year old Kitchen Aid appliances, and they still worked like new. Everything was fine for a few months, then I noticed that its not as quiet as it was. Then if I didnt thoroughly rinse my dishes off, to the point of pre-washing them, there would be stuck food that was nearly impossible to remove. After doing the thorough pre-rinsing things, were fine for a while. The noise got louder. It got to the point that we would only run it a night, because of the noise. We looked into our warranty, and it had just expired, and knew that we couldnt do much about it. About a week ago, the noise was so bad that we honestly thought it would explode. We didnt touch it for a few days, for fear of explosion. Last night, we thought to run it through with a light cycle. We could hear the water filling, but after that, we couldnt hear anything. It sounded like it wanted to work, but it was stuck. We turned it off, and now its a glorified dish rack. Im replacing all my Kitchen Aid appliances with LG, because I know it wont fall apart.

I purchased a KitchenAid Microwave in October 2013. The plastic on the bottom of the door handle crumbled leaving a sharp edge and wobbly handle. I contacted Kitchenaid and they told me that they could send someone out for $99 to take a look. This is 20% of the price of the microwave. Materials science has gotten better over the years, but the quality of Kitchenaid appliances has declined sharply. I thought that I was buying a quality product because of the Kitchenaid name. They dont even stand behind their workmanship. The customer service agent did a great job of apologizing to me but not rectifying my concern.

I bought a whole suite of KitchenAid products when I moved into my new house. I bought KitchenAid brand because my Mom had only recently (at the time) replaces all her KitchenAid alliances that lasted well over 30 years! I thought mine would be the same but NO, NO, NO! The first repair case to the $1200 dishwasher which I paid extra for because it was SO quiet. It was a total splurge but I deserved it after living with the loudest dishwashers for years. It was a simple fix but now needs the same fix again. This time it’ll be out of warranty. The worst appliance though is the fridge! I hate it! I have never seen a fridge freeze up more than this one. The first time it was repaired the tech said it was a terrible design and that I should expect more fixes, he wasn’t wrong. Apparently, the fridge thermometer regulator, coils, etc are in a terrible spot that allow it to freeze up easily. Once it’s frozen and if you don’t notice (it can happen quickly too) it can destroy the main parts of the fridge that make it work & stay cold! So far there’s been 3 fixes to this system but now I’m done. I will be dumping this fridge, I’ve owned for only 5 years and buying a new one because I’m sick of its issues. I’m sad that KitchenAid now makes such inferior products. The only KitchenAid I’ll keep in my kitchen now will be my stand mixer (knock on wood).
