Comfort 15 Coastal

The Carrier Comfort 15 Coastal Heat Pump is a variant of the Comfort 15 Heat Pump specifically designed to withstand harsh coastal environments. It offers similar features and functionality as the standard Comfort 15 Heat Pump, with additional protection against the corrosive effects of salt air and high humidity. Here are some key features of the Carrier Comfort 15 Coastal Heat Pump:

Coastal Protection: The Comfort 15 Coastal Heat Pump is built with enhanced corrosion-resistant materials and coatings to protect against the corrosive effects of salt air, coastal mist, and high humidity. This makes it suitable for installation in coastal regions where standard heat pumps may be more susceptible to damage.

WeatherArmor Ultra Protection: Like the standard Comfort 15, the Coastal variant also features Carrier's WeatherArmor Ultra protection, which includes galvanized steel construction and a durable powder-coat paint finish. This provides additional durability and resistance to the elements.

Efficiency: The Comfort 15 Coastal Heat Pump maintains the high-efficiency performance of the standard Comfort 15, with a SEER rating of up to 16 and an HSPF rating of up to 9.0. This ensures energy-efficient operation and potential cost savings.

Heating and Cooling: The Coastal Heat Pump offers both heating and cooling capabilities, utilizing a refrigeration cycle to transfer heat between the indoors and outdoors. It provides warmth during cold weather and cooling during hot weather, ensuring year-round comfort.

Sound Reduction: Similar to the standard Comfort 15, the Coastal variant is designed with a sound-reducing compressor blanket and a Silencer System II design to minimize operating noise and provide quieter operation.

Puron Refrigerant: It also uses environmentally friendly Puron refrigerant (R-410A), which is chlorine-free and does not contribute to ozone depletion.

Warranty: Carrier provides a limited warranty for the Comfort 15 Coastal Heat Pump. Warranty terms and coverage may vary, so it's recommended to review the specific warranty details provided by the manufacturer or consult with an authorized Carrier dealer.

It's important to consult with an authorized Carrier dealer or visit the official Carrier website for the most accurate and up-to-date information about the Carrier Comfort 15 Coastal Heat Pump. They can provide you with specific details regarding its features, specifications, and warranty coverage tailored to your region and installation requirements.

Purchased 2 model FB4CNF024 Carrier 2 ton heat pump 7/11/2014 and has had service checks by installer yearly. First blower motor out in 11/17/2015 replaced promptly under warranty. Second blower motor under warranty has just went out 11/23/2016 and told blower motor on back order til February 2017. This is on the same unit in the bedrooms. What is a senior citizen to do with severe neuropathy after brain surgery and very cold sensitive. If you use different motor voids warranty so must go without heat through winter. If I could give Carrier less than one star I would.

We have a Carrier furnace and a/c. It is currently 25 yrs old. It just needs a tune up every year. It runs well and is dependable. We are holding out as long as possible to replace it. It is unfortunate that machines don’t last like they used to. Fingers crossed we can maintain ours for a few more years.

I have several Carrier and Payne HVAC systems in several houses. I had 2 very simple technical questions regarding their thermostat. (Can the unit humidifier be set to greater than 45? and Where is the humidity sensor?) Called Customer Service looking for Tech Support line... no tech support line, they know nothing, suggested I call local Carrier dealers, i.e. local contractors. I did, they had no idea why Carrier would refer me to them. They dont offer tech support (as they shouldnt). I called back Carrier, went to Level 2 customer service... same BS, unbelievable... no more Carrier products.

In 2010 we had Carrier HVAC installed. Since then the motor in the heating unit has been replaced, under warranty. Our service technician told me that Carrier knew that it was faulty but would only replace the part when it failed. Now we have to have the AC coils replaced because they are leaking coolant. According to the service technician the copper tubing cannot keep up with the pressure so it needs to be replaced with aluminum. Unfortunately this part is past the 5 year warranty, by one year, and now we have to pay $1,070 to have it replaced. I would not recommend a Carrier HVAC system.

My residence air conditioner was leaking water under the furnace combination. The air conditioner tech diagnosed the pan leaking after checking for the freon pressure. I said why can I not patch the pan. He showed me how to access the evaporator coil and pan on the gas force air furnace by removing a panel on the rear near the evaporator coil. I have a Carrier AC.I looked hard for the source of the water as the pan was not leaking when I poured water on the pan, and the water was properly draining. The evaporator coil can slide out of the furnace housing, but one needs a platform to rest the coil to prevent kinking of the lines (very important as freon will leak, if not careful). I finally saw about two inches of dust/dirt at the top of the evaporator coil and surmised that this dirt was preventing the evaporated water from draining properly. After cleaning the evaporator coil, the AC seem to work, but the outside temperature was not hot enough to really test the AC.Another process was required, get some coil solvent from Home Depot and spray it on the coil. Be sure to get the ones that evaporate by themselves not require rinsing. I sprayed water on the coils after the foam went away just to be sure. Theoretically, the evaporated water will wash the solvent away when the AC is operating. Anyway, for a mechanically inclined person saving $5k to $6K using the above is worth a try! Or, you try talking the tech into looking at the coil itself and doing the cleaning for a few hundred dollars to pay for his time.

I had the unfortunate experience of replacing two furnaces this year. One was a 12-year old Bryant and the other was a 7-year old Carrier. In both cases, the heat exchanger failed prematurely. In both cases, the technicians informed me that this is a known issue to Carrier with furnaces built between 2000 and 2012. In fact, they have been sued for this exact problem. In both cases, the part was under warranty; however, Carrier does not cover the cost of labor. Labor is the most expensive part! They also replace the exchanger with the same exact part that is known to fail! The cost of the labor and the other impacted parts cost half as much as a new furnace. In both cases, the technicians, which I trust, suggested that I not put any more money into the old furnace. The CO levels were through the roof, so they refused to turn the furnace back on due to safety concerns. Of course, the most recent happened during 3-degree weather in Minnesota.I feel cheated by Carrier for leaving flawed furnaces in the market. I feel cheated by Carrier for only covering the part (heat exchanger) when labor alone for that item is $1300. I feel cheated by Carrier for conveniently only covering standard parts for 5 years when furnaces are expected to last 15 years. I feel cheated by Carrier/UTC because my new furnace had to either be a Bryant or Carrier brand because my house was frozen and I had no time to research other service providers and their offerings. No reason to call customer service with Carrier. They elevated the issue to Level 2 support, which then told me to email their Management Review Board. I sent that email 10 days ago with no response yet. I have to be one of their top customers this year after purchasing two furnaces and an AC. At least have some respect and send a response that you are reviewing the complaint!

I had a new heat pump installed yesterday. While the technician was here, we attempted to register the new equipment using the website address in the Carrier literature. A message came up and said its not a valid website (cac.bdp.com). So I called Carrier, their phone message said to go to Carrier.com/homecomfort to register the product, which I did. While the tech was here, I attempted to register the equipment but the website kept asking for the installer no matter what I entered. The technician recommended that I call Carrier back (he had to go to his next job). I called Carrier and was told they no longer accept product registrations over the phone. So when I told the woman I could log in to their website to register the product while she was on the phone, she said she wasnt allowed to hold for customers. She seemed pretty rude. The problem here is that the Carrier website wont allow me to register my product (tried three different browsers) and their customer service will not help me register. This comes across as a warranty scam. Make it difficult so that customers dont register the product then deny warranty claims.

The centrifugal start switch on my blower motor keeps hanging up. When it does, the motor wont start and the main breaker blows. I have fixed this several times by putting the armature in my lathe and turning down the section in the fins that are rubbing on the switch. Attempted to get the OEM motor part number from Carrier but they refuse to give it to me. They say I have to pay a licensed HVAC dealer to get the part number. The last time I tried to get the HVAC dealer to replace my condenser fan motor, the dealer had no idea what motor I had and I had to remove the motor myself and give him the part number on the motor. Carrier has to be the most unhelpful manufacturer I have ever dealt with.

We purchased a new Carrier Infinity 18 SEER HE system in April 2018 ($12,30
We purchased a new Carrier Infinity 18 SEER HE system in April 2018 ($12,300). The system was for the downstairs of a 3200 square foot home and installed in a crawlspace. At the time of installation, there had never been any moisture issues in the crawlspace for the 20 year life of the home, not with the original owners, not with two home inspections, and not with our experience with the previous HVAC system that had been in place for fifteen years, in fact the crawlspace had always been very dry. Once we installed the Carrier Infinity system, we began to notice problems with keeping the humidity levels in our home at a reasonable level, we were seeing 65-76 percent readings on a regular basis. We reached out to the Carrier dealer and they told us we needed to replace all of the ductwork underneath the house. We moved forward and did as was suggested ($4600) in August of 2019. A few weeks after the ductwork install, we switched to heat pump and thought the problem was resolved as humidity levels in the winter stayed around 45% inside the home during the winter when the heat pump was being used and there was no use of the AC. Fast forward to summer 2020. We started using the AC again in April and by July 2020 the beautiful hardwoods in our home began to buckle and we began to see incredible amounts of moisture building in our walls. Our light switches actually began to buckle from the moisture, and if you took one off the wall, the moisture was enough to drip onto the floor. We have pictures of all of this. Moisture readings were back to 68 to 78 percent and 83% in the crawlspace. Through word of mouth and social media, we found several other families who were experiencing the exact same issue in our county alone, their homes, walls, and floors also being slowly destroyed by intense moisture after installation of the Carrier Infinity 18 seer system. We were in contact with the Carrier dealer throughout. Unfortunately, the dealer had a massive fire that destroyed all of their records and they had to rebuild, so there are no records of our original install other than the paperwork we have. After their rebuild that delayed our interaction, the dealer came again to our home and rewired our system to use only two drive phases instead of the designed five. This did not bring the moisture levels down. We were told several times there was a moisture problem in our crawlspace and that was causing our issues. We worked with our homeowners insurance agent and he sent a home inspection/moisture specialist who determined there was no runoff or water issue in our crawlspace and suggested the problem may be the installation of the super efficient Carrier system in 2018. The dealer returned again in September 2020 and replaced the ductwork again, suggesting that the duct boots were not installed correctly in the first ductwork replacement in 2019.This also did not address the intense humidity issue, with readings in our crawlspace reaching 83% moisture in certain areas. Inside the home we could not maintain anything under 68% humidity. The dealer then brought a large dehumidifier in late October 2020 that has been running all winter. With the AC off, the basement has dried out with use of the heat pump and zero use of the AC all winter. We will be installing the optional integrated Carrier dehumidifier next and will see if that addresses the issue when we switch back to AC, somewhere in early April. After hearing from all the other families that have experienced the exact same intense humidity and moisture damage in their homes after installing the Carrier Infinity 18 seer system, we are not confident that we will see any difference. We are out almost $18K, we have a practically new HVAC system that is slowly destroying our home, we will need to replace all of our floors and subfloors, and we are praying that our wiring has not corroded. Carrier was called to one of the other families homes and told them what we were told, that they had a moisture problem and that it was not the system.Carrier KNOWS this is an issue, the dealers KNOW this is an issue, but Carrier refuses to address it. We are writing this review to bring awareness. Consumer BEWARE. Carrier NEEDS to address this and figure out whats causing this 18 seer 5 phase system to destroy certain homes. We hope this honest review keeps others aware of what can happen with a Carrier Infinity 18 seer system and keeps others from living the nightmare we have since the installation of this system.

I have had a Carrier Infinity system for 10 years. Within 3 years the compressor went out. A few years later we had a freeze and the heat pump turned on the outside unit breaking the fan. Carrier refused to cover. A year ago the compressor went out again. Carrier was willing to cover the compressor under a 10 year warranty, but not labor. My contract stated parts and labor. They later, after much negotiation, agreed to replace the condenser (including compressor) for $2500 and would extend a new warranty for 10 years parts and labor. Now the unit dies and its a circuit board. After replacing the unit would not come on again. It took 7 hours on the phone between the tech and Carrier to get it running again. Carrier support was reading a manual to help the tech figure out the problem. Their service even to a technician is a joke. I will never own another Carrier.

New installation in new home May 2015. Top of the line heat pump (25VNA048). Coil froze up with massive ice buildup in cold snap December 2016. Faulty coil sensor so unit failed to go into defrost cycle. $232 for labor as out of the 1 year period. Guessing the part cost only a few dollars. Like other postings here I had no response from Carrier. Clearly they dont care. I would not use their products again. Anyone know where the parts are made?

Purchased a new Carrier HVAC for my home in 2007. It was properly installed by licensed technicians. Ive had 9 (nine) major service calls requiring replacement of major components in less than 7 years. Thankfully I was covered for many of the services by a Sears master service agreement. That said, Ive still had to come out of pocket for several service calls for things not covered by the plan (i.e. Puron refills... 11 lbs 2 days ago ($450)). Similar scenario last year... slightly less. Thats just the AC. However, the furnace has made up more than half of those 9 service calls during the period. Ive spoken to an attorney who has advised a class action lawsuit. I would certainly be interested in joining such a suit. I have all documented service records to prove the faulty lemon that they manufacture.

The heat pump function on our 1 and 1/2 year old Carrier unit is not functioning properly. What happens is that when a steady temperature of 68 degrees is set, the unit buzzes and then fails to come on. Then it buzzes again and fails to come on. Then buzzes again and fails to come on. (Repeated on purpose.) Had the installation company come out yesterday morning and they found nothing wrong. The board was not fried. They tested all terminals and said they were okay. I am an HVAC contractor who purchased Carrier equipment because the blueprint on the job called out for Carrier. After purchasing the equipment and installing according to manufacturing specifications, we noticed we had a faulty motor in the new unit. I contacted the distributor and they informed me that not only did they not have the motor in stock, they would have to order a new one and we would have to pay for it again... YES PAY FOR IT AGAIN. I am still waiting to be reimbursed for this motor I paid for twice, not to mention all the time we lost. This was one of the worst things I have ever experienced with any HVAC distribution company. We install all different types of HVAC equipment based on blueprints. Never one time has this ever happened. 30 years in this business and this is by far the worst.

Carrier Comfort Series unit - Puron. We are extremely dissatisfied customers. $4,500 was spent on a brand new, energy efficient air conditioner. We were told from the sales man that this was the top of the line product and will save time and money. We had this new unit installed on Aug. 11, 2014 and when we went downstairs to check it on Sept. 6, 2014 because it wasnt dropping the temperature in the home sufficiently, we saw that there was water all surrounding the unit. In +30 degree weather we called the company to say we wanted it fixed and they couldnt send out a worker for a few days. When a worker came out he worked for 2 hours that night and 4 hours the next day, he spent this time cleaning up the mess that was left by the installers. He told us when he had done all that he was able to that the unit was defective and the company was aware of 20 other units that were defective this summer of the same model. Apparently the evaporator coil was faulty on it. Waiting for the sales man to call back. So far no call. Not happy.

Bishops in Muskegon MI sold and installed. Carrier should of known the problems with this new 2 stage! They never offered us anything. We must now replace this or continue throwing money at it. For the last 7 years we have to restart furnace at least daily, sand igniter monthly, etc. now the blower motor burnt out. We need dependable, and Carrier is not that. In mid-2007, I had my 13-year old HVAC system replaced with a Carrier Infinity system with 5 ton 14.0 SEER unit (model #24ANA760A003) to give a peace of mind regarding reliability. Two years ago, the system failed and the temp in my house got to over 100 degrees here in AZ. The installation company told me the compressor was bad and needed to be replaced at a cost of over $800. This with the unit still under warranty! Now almost exactly two years later, the compressor again went out and needs to be replaced. The owner of the installation company told me that Carrier acknowledges that this is a faulty unit (as evidenced by the multiple other complaints here), but refuses to replace it with anything other than another unit of the very same defective model. And of course, I have to pay all the labor charges again. Carrier seems truly unconcerned regarding customer service and only wants to take your money and run. Perhaps, as a previous writer suggested, a class action lawsuit is in order.

We have a top of the line Carrier Infinity heat pump put in place in 2014.
We have a top of the line Carrier Infinity heat pump put in place in 2014. It was installed by an authorized installer who has been installing Carrier systems for 45 years. The unit is supposed to be state of the art and cost over $10K. But in 2015, one year after it was put in place, the system broke down in the summer and a motor had to be replaced. Now in 2016, second year after the installation, the system broke down again and another motor has to be replaced. And it takes more than 10 days to order the motor in todays world when everything you order from Amazon can arrive in 2 days. When I called Carrier to file a complaint, the lady I spoke with was supposed to be a senior level rep, and she was even more disappointing. Please note, I wasnt even asking them for anything. My repairs are covered by a service policy I already had. I just wanted to let them know my frustration as a consumer, and I think given the good reputation I have heard about Carrier, you would think how their customers are feeling about their quality and service. Well, this lady blamed everything on distributors and installers, and said Carrier provides 10 year parts warranty and thats all they can do. She basically said Why are you wasting my time by calling me. without using those words.Well, for a state of the art system such as Carrier Infinity, you probably wouldnt expect to shut down for 2 weeks every year in the hottest days of the summer. And you would probably expect Carrier to care more about the quality and service experienced by their highest paying customers. I need to replace another old HVAC system soon and I never thought I would get anything other than Carrier. Now I will look into what other competing products are out there.

Two-year-old system does not remove humidity from our home despite four service calls and a compressor replacement. The condensing unit never drains water and the Carrier dealer who installed the unit says all is okay/normal. As a result the humidity level in the house is always high, sometimes more than it is inside. Only two adults live in the home and the bathrooms/laundry room are well vented/exhausted. Does not appear from what I read that Carrier cares. Can the problem be linked to the refrigerant no longer being Freon? I have placed a portable dehumidifer upstairs which helps some and removes several quarts of water daily. We live in high humidity Indiana. Suggestions?

We got a new HVAC system in 2009, 11 years ago. It was Carriers top of the line furnace and central air conditioner at the time. It was the Infinity System. Quite expensive to say the least. Well, fast forward 11 years (to 2020). The Carrier central air conditioners condenser apparently went out. The company who installed it (In 2009) came out to diagnose a grinding sound I heard coming from the unit. Guess what?! Yep, you guessed it! My entire central air conditioner would need replaced due to the condenser failing!I know a couple family members whove had their central air conditioners for over 30 years, and theyre still in working order. If this new efficient HVAC equipment cant hold up for at least 20 years, doesnt that outweigh any efficiency improvements you got out of them?! In my opinion, not only are you out of an expensive unit, but for environmental purposes- it would be better to have a less efficient system last 30 years than a more efficient system last 10! Why? Because the materials to make it end up in a landfill 3 times sooner than the old style air conditioners! If I had known this Carrier AC would have only lasted 11 years, I would have went with a less expensive brand! Whats the point paying nearly twice as much, potentially, only to have your unit completely fail 10-11 years later! PS: I recently went out and bought a new window AC. I couldnt afford to spring for a new central AC, nor had any desire after that experience!

As a manager for a mechanical contractor it is very hard to look my customers in the face and tell them that the new heat pump we just installed doesnt work. This has happened 3 times in less than 90 days. One was short compressor mounting bolts from the factory and the refrigerant line broke during shipment. Carrier said it was a warranty issue. I say a factory defect! They wanted me to fix and not provide a replacement. Took a lot of my time 15 plus hours but they finally replaced. Today new unit had a bad transformer and would only heat. When switched to cool compressor would only run for 15 seconds and would shut off on high limit. Brand new unit needs a reversing valve.Again Carrier wants me to repair and not provide a replacement unit. Carrier corporate is useless in solving my issues as a contractor. I feel for the all the homeowners. Trane is 60 yards away from CARRIER GREAT LAKES, my local carrier distributor. I walked over to Trane and will be paying more for heat pumps and will have to pass on the cost to my customers, but at least they answer the phone without attitude and have handled all of our other problems with a smile. MAKE SURE TO GET YOUR COMPLAINT IN BEFORE THEY COMPLETE THEIR MOVE TO MEXICO.

Five years ago, I had 7 5-ton Carrier 17 Seer units installed at my house (yes, really). It got hot a few days ago. Tech came out today and told me that 4 compressors have failed. All of the units run off of batteries first which are energized by street power and generator power. Ill keep everyone posted on how this evolves. I pay 20k a year for a 24/7/365 response on the HVAC systems. Hopefully, Carrier steps up and does the right thing.

I recently installed Carrier Performance 96% efficiency gas furnace. It gives me more trouble than comfort. This furnace is way louder than my old 30 year old furnace. The fan motor seems to have two speeds, the noise level of the lower speed is acceptable but when it is in high speed, the noise suddenly turns extremely loud. It is so loud that it often disrupts your sleep especially when the heat kicks in. I paid so much for this furnace and it does not give me the comfort I expected. This furnace is not as advertised as a high-quality brand.

I decided on a Carrier split system for heating and cooling in an older ranch with electric baseboard heat only. Best decision ever!! It's efficient and cheaper to operate than the new Ruud gas system in my old condo. The heat is so warm. It's not anything like the old heat pumps that seemed to throw cool air for heat. My old condo and my house are about the same size. Both are on slabs. My heating/cooling bills at the house are half of the condo's. What a blessing. Thank you Carrier!!

I would not recommend Carrier products.

Being a dedicated Carrier dealer, technician and installer for over 20 year
Being a dedicated Carrier dealer, technician and installer for over 20 years in SE Texas, I am sympathetic to all of the unhappy customers who have written reviews. However, just from reading the situations, I believe that the problem lies not in the equipment but in the so called installers and service techs. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of reputable Carrier dealers in any given state. I have personally went behind some of these service companies and have seen the type of installation or service that was performed. To a Factory trained technician, the remedies are often relatively easy and inexpensive to repair. The fault lies not in Carrier equipment, but in the local distributors who willingly sell Carrier equipment to any Jack leg moron who knows how to operate a thermostat. Carrier should monitor their distributorships more closely and see what companies are buying equipment and how many of these are having issues with Carrier junk. Carrier is and will remain a world leader in the HVAC industry, but like everything else, the product is only as good as the person installing or servicing it. Look really closely at your contractor before you blame Carrier. There is not one manufacturer out there who is going to cover a bad install under ANY kind of warranty.

I purchased Carrier 2 ton and 3.5 ton Heat pump/AC units in Feb 2018. The 3.5 ton unit failed and had to be replaced in July 2019 (15 months). As of Oct. 4, 2019 this unit now needs additional new parts. The 2 ton unit also failed in Sept. 2019 and needs major parts replaced. My HVAC contractor is working with me and told me to contact Carrier customer service. Carrier customer service has informed me that their only responsibility is the warranty for parts. The $1000`s spent for labor is my problem. Bottom line is Carrier feels that if their unit lasts 1 year they have met their obligation. I know that everyone buys heating and AC units with the expectation that it will last more than 1 year. Carrier does NOT have that same expectation -- they hope it lasts a least a year so they are off the hook. Do Not buy Carrier products - unless you want to replace them quickly.

Puron Model 24APA530A300 Coil bad - A/C stopped cooling on hottest day of year, and my a/c guy said it must be a bad coil. The unit was put in 6 years ago, and I figured Carrier would replace it. Just found out it has only a 5-year warranty, but starting in 2010 they made it a 10-year warranty. I think it is plain wrong that Carrier only has a 5-year warranty for a machine that costs upwards $6000. No way a coil should go out in 6 years.

Im the same person who contributed the complaint below. I am obliged to state that in the end, three days later, Carrier authorized the complete replacement of the outdoor unit, which is worth several thousand dollars. However, Carrier is wiping their hands of it from this point forward. In other words, no warranty. I will also have to pay the labor and supply cost of over $900 and that is with the labor being significantly discounted by my HVAC company. I am very pleased that Carrier finally authorized this replacement. Hopefully, the new 4-ton Carrier Infinity heat pump will perform as well as the 2-ton Infinity heat pump that conditions the first floor of our house.

Carrier at Home. Im a 100% disabled veteran and a senior citizen. A faulty heat exchanger resulted in a mandatory disconnection and no heat for 5 days. Carrier Corporate validated my warranty: replace and install part or discount on new furnace. Dealer said 3-day minimum wait if part available to ship over weekend. We opted for a new furnace as 5 days without heat was enough. Carrier found a warranty loophole: You didnt ask our permission first before you took the discount option. Discount denied. They replaced it with the same Bristol compressor knowing it was defective compressor but promised that if it went bad that they would replace it with a whole new unit at no cost to me. The new and improved unit has a Copeland scroll compressor which seems to be the industry standard. Well, guess what, 6 days out of warranty the second Bristol compressor goes out. I purchased a new home in Sept. 2007 with a Carrier HVAC system. I made several complaints to the installation company during the first year about quality of the installation. Three trips and the company assured me they had corrected all items. In just under three years, cooling coils on both units of the two-unit system failed and had to be replaced. Replacement coils were furnished under warranty but the bill was $1500. I hired another company to do an analysis of system. Based on this inspection, I filed a formal complaint with state licensing bureau. Finally, about $4,000 worth of corrective action was performed at no charge. Corrections included the installation of an additional return air ducting that was not installed but was on original design.Well, now 3 years and 5 months later, the cooling coil on one unit has again failed leaking out all Puron over a weekend. Carrier will not provide replacement coil under warranty. Work is being completed today and Id guess the bill will be around $1500. So HVAC repairs of $3000+ in 6 years on new home has to be considered unacceptable quality.

This unit was purchased 2/10/2015, 5 years parts warranty, Model 48ES-A2406030TP. This unit was problem child soon after install, kicking into lockout mode, igniter failing to light, AC part did fine was furnace part constant trouble, numerous service calls, exhaust inducer fail, high temp sensor fails. I quit using installer because failed again in less than 10 minutes after driving out the driveway, got ahold of another service company, they found high temp sensor bad kicking off furnace before satisfying thermostat, got that repaired, next thing started periodic igniter fail or repeated attempt to light kick into lock out mode again. This would not fail when service man present, told me to wait till completely fail, find problem them, month later total fail. The service company owner came out this time, found no electricity, the junction block for wiring some screws loose likely from defective assembly, yup assembled in Mexico, Once that got locked down, ignited immediately, inducer motor quieter, blower quieter, was lacking enough electric all along. Runs like should. Point is I am out hundreds of dollars on a unit under warranty, I have contacted United Technology to see if they will reimburse for defective assembly, that is not excluded under their warranty. Submitted claim today, will see what they do about this, I will follow up with the outcome of this when I hear from them, I had previous Carrier lasted 20 plus years, cracked exchanger at 20 was still running, Why I bought another, this one with new controls been a nightmare, the faulty assembly my opinion caused all the trouble all along.

We purchased a Carrier Infinity Series Model # 25HNA64A8003 in 2008 when we built a new house. We bought the most efficient unit with a 10 year warranty. We had always had a TRANE but went with a local company that promised we would be satisfied. In December 2010, we started having trouble. December 2010 we replaced the first compressor. January 2011, August 2011, October 2011, October 2011. We went through 3 compressors which our dealer failed to point out. After two, we hired another repair company and at this point we knew we were on number three. By this time, it is Labor Day 2013.He replaced the third compressor in September 2013 and found out that Carrier knew of the problems. Our local company, Simmons Heating and Air would not do anything about it either. December 2013 and now it is the capacitor and start cap relay. We tried to work out a solution with Carrier and our local Simmons Heating and Air. We decided to spend another $1400.00 to have the unit replaced in 2013. We now have Model Number 25HNB648A003. It is Labor Day, 2014 and we are sitting in 100 degree weather in North Carolina. The repairman showed up today and said it is now the blower in the air handler, which has a 5 year warranty which is now not covered. The repairman from Simmons said it is a very expensive part. So we are now past $16,000.00 after only six years of owning the unit. If I could afford it I would send the Carrier back to the company and have a new TRANE unit installed. ALL I CAN SAY IS RUN. DO NOT THINK TWICE... DO NOT INSTALL A CARRIER SYSTEM.

Bought our Carrier Infinity unit and had it installed in 2009. We were told it was the Cadillac of HVAC systems. Last year one of our thermostats failed which cost $500 to repair, just a few months outside of the warranty. Now, were in the middle of August in 100 degree heat and the entire unit failed completely. We need to replace a compressor, a relay, 2 capacitors and get refrigerant recovery. Total cost: $3,750. Meanwhile our house is sweltering. Despite my frustration, I politely called customer service for advice and the advanced service agent was rude. Theres nothing we can do, youre outside of warranty, sorry. Buyer beware. My advice - if youre buying an AC unit, look into warranty and try to get more than five years.

Our heat pump compressor and related parts that were installed in our residence in 2011 required a replacement parts July 2016. We are very dissatisfied with the quality of our top of the line Carrier Heat Pump System. Parts are warranted for 10 years, but the issue remains, if the system is what Carrier boasts this system as their top of the line product, why do we need to have to pay for the compressor and related parts to be replaced. We are being charged a high rate of $167 per hour to replace these parts, along with $167 initial cost to diagnose the problems. It seems as though we are paying for the parts along with the repair, for a unit that should last 10 years. Sunset Air is the contractor replacing the parts and has estimated labor charges in excess of $1,300 just to replace the needed parts (8 hour job). Carrier has told us they are not responsible for labor charges, but the unit should hold up for the 10 years as boasted for their again top of the line unit.

I had all the scheduled maintenance and now the evaporator coil leaked and I am being told it will cost $1425 to fix just for labor! What good is having a new system if it costs this much to fix? I was told by the tech that they had to replace these evaporator coils after one year! Even with the parts covered the labor is cost prohibitive. If these systems cannot be maintained even with regular maintenance, which was also expensive, then they must be defective! My heating and cooling bills were also huge and the thermostat had constant problems - going out, or not registering the correct temperature. You would think these companies would be concerned about their reputations. You would think that the certified dealers would also be concerned about the quality of these products. You would think there was some integrity in this business.

In 2002, I invested $6,000.00 to have Carriers top-of-the-line heat pump installed at my home. A very large investment for me! I thought it will be well worth it to have the highest quality, 2-stage, rated with energy star and uses Puron. Turns out this unit is quite the lemon. By the looks of all the other complaints I now see concerning the same system, I guess theyre nearly all lemons. Wish someone could make Carrier do the right thing and provide what they advertised. And are still advertising. I had this unit installed by a reputable heating and air company. From the beginning it never did work all that well. It did cool however so I did not complain. It only seemed to work about half as good as advertised. On real hot days, it would not keep up with demand and cool that well. If in the 90s outside, the best it would cool was to about 76-78 inside. Cool enough to live so I didnt complain. In 2006, it stopped cooling altogether, so I called what many believe to be one of the most reputable heating and air company around to troubleshoot it. They said the compressor was bad and needed to be replaced. This was under warranty but I would have to pay the labor. Labor to install the new compressor was $1,200.00. I had a couple other companies also price the labor and all were about the same. It killed me to pay $1,200.00 labor to install a compressor that is under warranty. I considered alternatives such as maybe just install a new unit, but a new unit would cost more than twice that amount installed. I figured this is one of the most reputable heating and air companies around so I told them to go ahead and change the compressor and paid them $1,200.00. It was cooling my home again but still only cooling about half what it should, same as before. In the winter, the electric back-up strips were on most of the time, even when outside was in the 40s. I put up, told the installer about this and they added Puron a couple of times at quite some expense. They told me I should have had them install the unit originally. Then they would stand behind it better. In summer 2008, there were many days in the 90s and the unit would only cool to about 79-80 inside. I had them check the unit again. They said the unit was leaking Puron from the charging valve and that this had nothing to do with them installing the new compressor in 2006. They gave me a price of $1,300.00 to replace the leaking charging valve. It was extremely hot outside (upper 90s) during this time, so I paid them the $1,300.00 to replace it. After that, it did cool our house down to mid to upper 70s. Still not cooling so great but good enough. Winter time came and back to having the back-up heating kicking in when outside in the 40s and later even when in the 50s. The next summer, back to not cooling so well but could live, so did not complain. Winter came again and using back up heat. When the next summer came, it was in the 90s outside and could only cool to the 80s inside. I had to have Puron added again buy the same reputable company? They would not cut me any break on the cost of the Puron. They said if they were the original installer in 2002 then they would take care of me a little better. After they added Puron this time they said to just call someone else if I had any more trouble with it. Now here it is summer of 2014 and not cooling at all. I had a different company look at it and they told me they believe the compressor is bad and recommended I call the same company that installed the compressor when it was under warranty. He said he have never worked on one of these very high efficiency units. I did call the Carrier Corporation a few times since the original install in 2002 and I was told that there was nothing that Carrier would do to help. We have Carriers very best unit on the market and we are sweating in our home and just hoping it will be cool at night so we can sleep. Not sure what to do now. I guess I will have to have another reputable company come out and install another unit or something. The new compressor was install in August 2008, not quite 6 years ago. I dont know if it will be under warranty or not. The original compressor had a 10-year warranty. Does that mean this second compressor will have a 10-year warranty? Wish Carrier would do the right thing and provide me with a new unit that worked as advertised. Any suggestions?

I have a Carrier-Payne A/C heat pump that was installed in a new construction in late 2005 or early 2006. I do not know the specific model number. Up until about 2 years ago, the unit ran problem-free. Since that time, I have had nothing but problems. The unit will quit heating/cooling without warning. The outside fan (not sure what its called) does not come on when the unit comes on and the compressor kicks out to prevent overheating. I can turn the unit off for a few hours and when I turn it back on, it runs fine for hours, days or weeks. It’s totally unpredictable. A technician will come out tomorrow for at least the 6th time. He has replaced a variety of electronic modules, the outside fan twice and added freon once, even though it was not critically low. He is at a loss on what to do next to try and fix it. Neither he nor I have called Carrier and after reading these posts, it would probably be a waste of time. I am paranoid about this unit and had to have someone house sit while I was on vacation just to keep a check on the A/C. Based on all of the compressor problems Ive read about, Im thinking that is the next thing to go out. I cant think of a compelling reason to replace this Carrier with another one.

In 2006, two Carrier Infinity heat pump systems were installed in my house to the tune of $25,000. Since 2010 I have not gone a single year without having a significant repair bill for at least one of the units. From 2010 through 2017 my repair bills for the units have exceeded $10,000. Ten months after warranty period ended the compressor went out again. They say nothing we can do. BEWARE!!! Stay away from Carrier, unless youve just got money to throw away.

My home is a little over 5 years old and I have 2 Carrier split units. Low coolant and of course a leaking condenser. Carrier units are specific and do not use generic parts so a normal $300 condenser is $953. Carrier responded with, We are sorry. Your unit is out of warranty by 4 months. There is NOTHING we can do. No offer to get me a reduced price on a crappy piece of hardware they engineered and installed in their units. Had 3 HVAC specialists say the same thing... NEVER USE A CARRIER. They dont care crap about their customers and they ** you on the parts because you have NO CHOICE but to get it from them. Going to dump them ASAP.

I had 25 year old air conditioner that needed the usual minor repairs every few years, nothing major. My A/C bill was high so I decided to buy a new cost efficient A/C, against several technicians advice. I checked around and was told to by homeowners that Carrier was the one to buy. Theyve had theirs for 20 years without problems. I bought this one less than 2 years ago and have had service technicians out three times and the blower motor changed last year. This weekend it stopped working again and the technician said I needed a new compressor. Major repair. $1,200 cost. Called Carrier to complain and all they told me was that parts are free, but labor is not. The parts may be free, but the shipping is not! This is ridiculous! Less than 2 years old and Carrier is not doing anything about it. Back to homeowners that told me to buy a Carrier, they all bought them when they were made in America. Everyone who is having issues, I wager, their A/C was made in Mexico. Coincidence? I think not!

The technician came out, and determined the compressor just stopped working, and needed to be replaced. The unit is still under warranty, but of course labor and refrigerant is not covered so the cost to replace it is just over $900.00. We paid $5300.00. Lakewood Furnace, Lakewood, Ohio & Carrier Greenspeed Heat Pump. Carrier is Awful. Stay away. So bad, it’s criminal. Installed a very expensive top of the line Carrier heat pump - it was defective from day one. No air flow or humidity control. Carrier, as well as, the Authorized Carrier Dealer/Owner and techs could care less to help or troubleshoot in any way - they dont respond to emails or letters or calls. This is a very bad company. I have spent over 60 days so far trying to get this heat pump fixed. The dealer/owner is a walk away guy - wants to install pricey equipment and if anything goes wrong threatens you with lawsuit to pay. I have never, ever, experienced such a bad company and bad people. One tech said, You can call me 100 times but Im not gonna fix your heat pump. And just buy floor fans. That should work. Unreal - spare yourself this stress and use a reputable company. After calling, writing, emailing everyday for over 60 days, corporate Carrier has been of no help to me and the local dealer/installer is worse. Carrier only cares about sales and protects its rogue dealers - customers mean nothing. My home is being damaged everyday - no cooling, no heat, high humidity (mold) and no airflow or ventilation. 60 days of no action, I worry about when winter comes with no heat.

7 year old Carrier furnace. Fired up the furnace this morning and a terrible screech from the inducer motor/blower. Figured the bearing failed, but hey, it can happen. Then the repairman came and said they had to replace the inducer assembly and get this, OVER $1000 for the job! This is absolutely unacceptable predatory pricing. I either replace the furnace with a better brand (Goodman) or I bite the bullet and pay the ransom for this Carrier. Ill never buy another Carrier furnace.

Bought a state of the art Infinity series heat pump in November 2007 and yesterday December 31st 2013 was told the compressor was shot. I too have the 10 years parts & labor so a new compressor will be paid for, BUT the service tech calls me to his truck and pulls out this paper and tells me how this compressor is a huge piece of crap and there are thousands of issues with these things and his office will be in touch on spending ANOTHER $1500 or more to get another state of the art outside unit he named Green Speed... I am still waiting to hear back from my dealer. I totally understand with it being New Years Day having to wait a few days, but to spend over $5,000 in 2007 and be told, while still under warranty you need to spend $1,500 more for another outside unit is a joke...

In October, 2020, National Heating & Air Conditioning installed a Carrier brand ductless heat pump/mini-split system in our home, including 1 heat pump, 3 heads, and 3 hand-held remote controls for $6,992.00. We were told it would offer us “zone control.” and to “set it and forget it.” Within a month of installation, the system was malfunctioning; all heads produced heat any time one head called for heat meaning, no zone control. After both the technician and Rick **, the “Comfort Consultant” from National confirmed the unit was not operating properly, they suggested we would need wall mounted thermostats installed to fix the problem. We wanted the system to work as we were told it would work, and the way the Owners Manual detailed it should work, with the remotes that came with the system. We opened a claim/complaint with Carrier believing they would stand behind their product and their advertising and get our system working as we were told it would work and as it was advertised to work. Rick and Len **, the Carrier Service Tech Mgr. began immediately began contradicting themselves by suddenly saying the system was working “exactly as it is engineered to work” while simultaneously saying the only solution to the “problem” was “wall-mounted thermostats” that they would “not charge us to ‘buy’ or have installed.” Len actually said if they did not find anything wrong with our system (this was AFTER it was confirmed it was not operating properly), I was not going to like to hear that the solution to the problem was going to be wall mounted thermostats. Please note: If there is no problem with the system, then why would the only solution be to install wall mounted thermostats to address the problem that had already been identified of no zone control? After 5 months of gas-lighting and giving us the runaround, we requested they “repair, replace or remove the defective system and refund us.” They chose the latter—and this was AFTER Rick gave us his word that he’d “do whatever it took to get the system working properly.” On the day of removal, they tried to have us sign a customer satisfaction guarantee that was not given to us on the day of installation that said if we were not 100% satisfied with the system, they would remove it. When we suggested they should have given us that agreement to sign the day of installation, we were met with more gaslighting, telling us the reason for that was because they were not doing paperwork during COVID. NOTE: They had no problem doing the paperwork on the day of installation for receipt of payment for the system, and giving us the owner’s manual that told us exactly how the system should work. We now have a DAIKIN brand ductless heat-pump with 1 heat pump, 3 heads, 3 hand-held remotes, flawless zone control, bypass heat that is redirected to the head calling for heat, and exceptional customer service from another local Heating & Air Conditioning provider, who has received the “Best of The Best” award several years in a row, for obvious reasons! Daikin offers a far superior warranty on BOTH parts AND labor—twelve years on both! Every extra penny we spent has been worth the difference to have a properly operating system and to have prompt response time to all forms of communication. Carrier spends a lot of money on advertising, but that does not mean their product is superior. I would not recommend it.

Building our home in 2012, we selected a Carrier heat pump because of its efficiency and alleged reliability. Little more than 2 years later, were now suffering through almost $400 labor costs to repair our relatively young Carrier heat pump because the outdoor fan bearings failed and the fan motor must be replaced. When I asked Carrier for credit against these $400 labor costs, Nicole stated shes bound by the manufacturers warranty so she cannot pay for labor on a part that admittedly failed way too soon. Careful of putting too much trust in the Carrier reliability. Theyre not willing to do whats right for the customer.

New Carrier Infinity Heater and central air system - Concerned product needs to be recalled since initial install issues have occurred. The outdoor unit needed to be sent back on install. Then the inside unit needed to be sent back a few weeks later. 1 Year later in 9-degree weather with no warning from the Infinity app the inside of the unit clogged and now needs replacing again. Carrier is not available on Sundays so if you need any replacement you need 2 days.I had a perfect functioning electric unit that was replaced for cost and energy reasons, I have thousands in now in back up portable a/cs and heating units since Ive lost faith. Its worrisome that the inside of the unit looks like it burned and if the house didnt drop 10 degrees while I was home we may have had more than 1 frozen pipe. Today I am going to try to get Polsinello to quickly get another one order since the service tech stated its not fixable after charging us 270.00. The install cost 10,000.

I bought a high efficiency Infinity heating and cooling system from a Carrier authorized dealer in Oct 2009. Total cost was approx. $9500.00cdn. Both A/C and furnace came with a 10-year Carrier parts warranty. Also, I purchased 10-year Carrier labor warranty, which was offered in lieu of Carrier cool cash rebate of $350.00. My invoice clearly shows that there is a 10 years parts and Carrier labor warranty on both units. On May 31, 2013, our A/C unit stopped working. The dealer who sold and installed the unit is no longer in business. On June 3, 2013 I called Carrier at 1-800carrier, Canadian helpline. Carriers customer relations responded. She said that the dealer only registered for 10-year parts warranty and there is no labor warranty in their system. She said that she would send a message to Carrier office in Mississauga to look into this further and see what they could do to help me.On June 3, I received a call from Carriers technical division in Mississauga, who was extremely rude and simply said, There is nothing I can do to help you because the dealer did not register the labor warranty. Then he asked me for a warranty certificate issued by Carrier, which I never received. He wanted me to fax him a copy of the invoice, which I did. He said that he would talk to his sales management team and get back to me. He was focused more in telling me how their internal system worked rather than paying attention to my problem. He refused to give me his work number or the email address. He said to contact the 1-800 number (USA) and they would call him to contact me. After three days of several follow-up calls to 1-800-Carrier, the same person calls me back to tell me the same thing that there is nothing he can do for me. He concurred that there should be a 10-year Carrier labor warranty on both units as clearly indicated on the invoice. He also agreed that the cost of 10 years warranty was $350.00 (same as the Carrier cool cash rebate, which I never received because it was applied to buy the 10 years labor warranty), but flatly refused to honor the warranty because this warranty is not registered in their system and he could not go back and register this warranty after three years. He refused to send me his response in writing.

In 2008, I purchased a major product which was a Carrier Bryant ClimateMaster GT-PX water source heat pump. I thought I purchased the best warranty and well-known product available with the cost of over $7000. After 18 months of operation, this unit started having problems. After a multitude of service calls to the dealer, it was determined that there was a water to freon leak. It was then classified as a catastrophic failure event. This happened during the middle of winter and we had to rely upon the back up heat system, which barely provided enough heat to keep but consumed a huge amount of power.Carrier required the dealer to cut the water coil unit and sent to Oklahoma to be analyzed. It was apparently determined the copper tubing had developed corrosion by contaminated loop fluid and their opinion was that it was not a manufacturing problem. I requested the coil system be returned so that I could have it analyzed by my own sources. I did not receive any response. I did, however, keep both intake and outtake ends of this coil system. There is no indication of any corrosion.Through many calls to dealer, distributor, and manufacturer (Carrier), the distributor finally agreed to replace the now destroyed heat pump, if I agreed to remedy the so-called water corrosion problem with a separate enclosed plate to plate loop heat exchanger, which I agreed to due out of desperation at the cost of $2600.The new water source heat pump provided by the distributor is a Carrier 50 YD model, installed on 04/22/11. Alas, this was not the end of the story. On 01/11/13 (20 months after installation), I had to have a service call to replace the freeze control sensor. One month later, Im still having problems. Another service call determined there was a freon leak at one of the solder connections which was repaired. I was wrong once again thinking, I had a good warranted Carrier product. As I understand it Carrier would not honor any of the repair costs which the dealer said he would absorb. Needless to say, Im stuck with this product. I really have no problems with the dealer or the distributor. It appears to me they took the brunt of the cost on this matter, which I feel should have been provided by the manufacturer. As you can see, this has been a long drawn process which the manufacturer has not taken any responsibility. This has created a lot of extra stress on my family and me. Obviously, I am not a happy customer and I feel that Carrier has given me, my dealer, and the distributor a lot of headaches and hassles. This is causing a lot of redundant time-consuming checks and rechecks and no warranty support. I will never recommend or purchase a Carrier product.

I bought a new Carrier Performance model air conditioner in 7/09. 3 years later, supposedly the evaporator coil is possibly leaking refrigerant (410a) as the unit is barely cooling. The estimated cost to replace the coil (coil still under 5-year part warranty) for labor is $993 (includes the cost of 8lbs of Puron) and an additional $150-$400 to do a leak search. I am looking at approximately $1200+ for labor to repair. For a fairly expensive outlay for a piece of equipment and only lasting 3 years, this doesnt sit too well with me. After reading all the following complaints about Carrier and their evap coils, you wonder, where is their engineering on these coils? Possibly thicker copper tubing might help with the increase in operating pressures with Puron? Where is their quality control? Where is their concern for their customer base? If you keep making an inferior product (or is this planned obsolescence?), maybe Carrier needs to take lessons from Japan on making good products. My previous Payne A/C lasted approximately 35 years with only approximately 3 service calls. Needless to say, I am a very dissatisfied customer with this product. In fact, I am thinking on having this unit pulled out and buying another brand and take my loss as I have no confidence that another evap coil replacement will not fail in the future.

In the last 4 and a half years, I have had 9, yes 9, service calls on my system. I have had fans out of balance (one was so bad it would rattle the dishes on the countertop in the kitchen). The main units compressor locked up and had to be replaced. The main thermostat went out and had to be replaced. Theres a freon leak in the upstairs unit and freon has had to be added to both units 4 times. It leaked water condensation in the attic, and now I go to turn it on over the weekend and the downstairs unit blows warm air. It wont cool. It has cost me over $1,300 out of pocket for the things not covered under warranty. Some labor was not covered, some service calls were not covered and, who knew Id have to pay shipping to get replacement parts shipped to me and then pay shipping to have the faulty parts shipped back to Carrier??? What a ** way to do business. The installer, Love Heating and Air in Monroe, NC is worthless and horrible to deal with and now Im getting the runaround with Carrier Corp. Had a new Carrier system (AC 24ACB3 & Furnace 59SP5) installed in our home June 2017. After install, we were very disappointed to find that our brand new furnace and AC unit were noisier than our old ones (not sure about energy efficiency yet but it seems that the new Carrier unit runs longer and more often than the old replaced unit). Back to the noise issues: We had Expert Heating & Cooling come back to our house a handful of times to try to determine and fix the excessive noises that were being sent throughout the home. #1. They replaced a portion of the factory AC line with a suction line at the unit. This new line is an eyesore and looks ugly. It did however quiet it down quite a bit (if we had not complained we wouldve been stuck with the excessively loud noise - now we have an ugly tube at the AC unit). Our old unit was quiet and not an eyesore #2. The new Carrier thermostat made a loud annoying click that everyone in the living room could hear each time the unit turned on and each time it turned off (our old replaced thermostat was quiet) - the new one was unacceptable. Again, they came out and replaced it with one that doesnt make a loud click. #3. Excessive/continuous blower whining or howling coming from the brand new furnace. This steady whirling whining noise permeates through the entire house and you can hear it at every vent - its very annoying. They tried to address it numerous times; They slowed down the blower speed but that wasnt the answer. Another time, both Expert and Carrier came out to the house and replaced the blower - - the whistle from the blower was still the same. Carrier said this is the way the new blower sounds and that we would have to get used to it - (there is NO getting used to it so far). Carrier mentioned that its possible we could try an older generation blower but we would lose some of the energy efficiencies that we gain on the new one. Carrier also mentioned that they could insulate some of our ducts near the furnace to quiet things down. Today the whistle still exists. So, in summary: we were very very impressed with Expert Heating & Coolings professionalism and customer care. However, we are very disappointed with the Carrier products we received. Please let us know if something can be done (without compromising the efficiencies of our new system) to remove the whistle noise. 12/7/2018 update - Carrier never responded to this note I submitted to them on their website. (and no, this howling noise is not caused by little air leaks or whistles in the air ducts, its from the motor)

We had a new Carrier furnace installed when we first purchased our home. It was running fine after 16 yrs but minor repairs were beginning to occur and at the urging of our furnace installer suggested we upgrade with a new one. So six years ago we replaced the furnace which was still functioning ok with the latest Carrier furnace. Well six years have passed and we have not had one complete heating season with the new furnace without it failing. It has been a continuum of hard lockouts with no heat in the dead of winter. Over the course of the six years we have paid for the cost of the furnace with service call fees replacement parts to include a new oil tank which they said was a possible cause of the furnace malfunctioning which to this date have not resolved the problems. Carrier has been absolutely useless in trying to fix this problem in a timely manner and kept telling the furnace people to try this and try that - all at my expense. As a company who provides consumer products as important as a furnace one would think they would be more responsive to the issue but all they have done is stonewall me at every step and meanwhile I still have a faulty furnace that they will not fix or replace. At this point I will have to replace this nightmare with a different furnace manufacturer and hope that their product and company backing will be what one would expect as a consumer. I will never again purchase anything from Carrier and I will certainly never recommend their product to anyone.

In 2003, I bought our house. The A/C works fine for a few years. Then after 5 years and 2 months, my A/C goes out. Carrier told me, ** you, your warranty is up. Can you believe this? Luckily, I was able to find that it was just a run capacitor, after shocking the **out of myself, as I am not a certified HVAC guy, but it was back up and running. Over the next few years, I noticed an extreme amount of rust water coming from the drain line. Now, the A/C is broke again, this time compressor is locked up. I spent $300 to have tech come out and tell me this. He also told me that Carrier has a ten year warranty on parts. Wrong again, I talked to a manager and they said 5 years. In 09, they went to ten after the new and improved coils and compressors. The funny thing is she told me that 5- 10 years is normal life expectancy. Are you kidding me? Im a flooring contractor and if I told that to my customers, I would never get any business. Needless to say, I have a 6.5 year old house with a HVAC system that is not working and Carrier reps believe this is okay. There needs to be a class action law suit against them.

Just over ten years ago, we built a new home in Pennsylvania and decided on a Carrier heat pump because of anticipated quality and longevity. The outdoor unit is a 38YDB using a Bristol compressor. The compressor recently failed after 10 years and 6 months. Through our HVAC repair company, we knew that Carrier has had problems with the Bristol compressors (which are no longer used) and our repair company should know since they have been a dealer for almost 30 years.I contacted Carrier customer service and customer relations personnel by telephone and I made them aware (although they didnt acknowledge) of the companys compressor problems. I asked two questions : 1) would Carrier provide some satisfaction to our situation with regard to how close to the warranty the failure occurred? and 2) if we should choose to purchase a new Carrier unit, would the company provide any type of recompense toward the cost of the new unit? Carrier provided nothing in response to my inquiries. Essentially, No, were not going to provide any measure of customer relief or satisfaction and with the tone of, nor do we really care if you take your business elsewhere. This I will certainly do!

On Dec 29, 2021, I had a Carrier Comfort 2.5 ton 14 Seers heatpump and air handler split system installed. It replaced a very efficient old Trane split system that was just too old and had broken down. The new Carrier heatpump has been nothing but a problem. On heat mode and auto fan it blows cold and ambient air through the registers and is constantly running. It kicks in auxiliary heat in the air handler often cause the heatpump is unable to provide enough hot air by itself to even warm the house and I live in Florida!. I expect my electric bill to go up by $300.00 more a month with this American engineered and built crap. The ac company and installers said this is normal for a Carrier comfort heatpump constantly blowing ambient air in heat mode and constantly running and hardly ever shutting off.Tried calling Carrier to tell them the problem and they referred me back to the ac company. My foreign made Trane heatpump heated the house well before it broke down after 20 years of use. Heard that an American company bought Trane and the new Trane heatpumps being built are also crap. So, that is why I went with Carrier. Next time, I will buy a Bosch heatpump cause American products are poorly engineered and manufactured with planned absolescence, inefficient, not dependable or reliable.... CARRIER comfort American piece of crap.

Bought new gas furnace and it doesnt work, keeps shutting off. Installer thinks its a bad heat exchanger. Have called Carrier 5 times and this has been 5 months and no heat. A waste of $2000. I have never been treated so bad in my life. My tenant below threatened to move out. I am ready to sue Carrier for their lack of care and not standing up to their word. I am going to have to contact the attorney general I guess. I dont recommend Carrier.

Im a homeowner and had two units installed in the two story house I completed in 2012. Its been 1 year and 3 months and Ive had 3 a/c outages. My upstairs unit (3-ton) has been out twice, most recently when the compressor blower motor stopped working. My latest problem is with the downstairs unit (2.5-ton) which needs a new evaporator unit. There is a leak in the copper coil which Im told is common. Most startling to me, however, was how corroded the entire evaporator unit appeared. I took a photo and posted here. The prevailing story I hear from the repair folks is that Carriers technology got way ahead of quality... in an effort to meet the rising efficiency requirements. The parts warranty is helpful, but the labor combined for all three repairs is now at $2000. Oh yeah, and I called Carrier (as a homeowner) to express my dissatisfaction. They towed the line on warranty terms and conditions and wouldnt transfer me to a Manager. Given my experience, I will never purchase Carrier equipment again.

Six years ago purchased from Sears a new Carrier Infinity which cost $8,000.00. I thought that buying the supposed best system in the market & from a company like Sears I was making a wise decision. This was my first mistake. Yesterday March 15, just few month short on the six birthday of my very expensive Carrier & after expending the last 4 month $1,300 on repairs, I finally decided to end my nightmare & install a regular air conditioner, no frills just cool air.If you have a lot of money to throw away then buy a Carrier Infinity. If you want to be happy & save money on the long run please dont even think on buying a Carrier Infinity. The company who installed my new air, they told me that they see exactly what happened to me very very often. Look around & you will see Im not alone.
