Ducane Appliance Troubleshooting
Ducane products are built to last and lab tested for dependability. Each one is designed to deliver reliable comfort while helping you save money. No matter what the weather or season, Ducane is always the right choice.
Air Conditioner Troubleshooting
Step 1
Verify that the Ducane air conditioner is connected to a power supply if the unit is not operating. Reset the circuit breaker or fuse if necessary and ensure that the electrical cord is plugged firmly into the unit.
Step 2
Clean the condenser coil with water from a garden hose and wipe down the fan motor blades with a clean cloth if the air conditioner is flashing a yellow alert light or is not operating or cooling as expected. Remember to turn off and unplug the air conditioner prior to maintenance.
Step 3
Adjust the thermostat to a warmer setting if the air conditioner is producing air that is too cold. Adjust the thermostat to a colder setting if the air conditioner is not producing enough cold air. Allow a few hours for the colder or warmer setting to take effect.
Step 4
Clean away leaves, dirt, branches or other debris away from the main unit if the air conditioner is not functioning well or the motor is running excessively. Clean the grilles and vents to allow for proper air flow.
Step 5
Contact an authorized service professional if the above steps do not resolve the issue.
Furnace Troubleshooting
Ducane sells both gas and oil furnaces. Most of its gas furnaces have received a 95% AFUE efficiency rating, which ultimately helps you pay less when operating the furnace. In addition, its variable speed blower is known to be quiet, providing even temperatures. No matter what features your furnace may have, however, you are still likely to run into problems. Try troubleshooting the issues on your own before you spend money on a repairman.
Pilot Light
If you are trying to use your Ducane furnace and find that the pilot light will not light, check to see if the main valve is turned to the "On" position. You should also check the pilot H.S.I. (Hot Surface Ignitor) to see if it is broken and ensure that there is nothing clogging the pilot orifice. You may also be experiencing a problem with the control valve. Your Owner's Manual (see References) will be able to assist you in troubleshooting the SmartValve.
Burners
If you find that your burners will not ignite, check that the furnace is connected to the power supply. Make sure that there is no blown fuse, tripped circuit breaker or faulty wiring. You may need to replace the transformer or the fuse on the fan timer board. If there is no gas at your main burners, the problem may be with your main valve. See if it is opening or turned to the "On" position. See if you can find any loose or broken wiring connections. You may need to replace the entire valve system.
Heat
You may have a furnace that is too small for the area you need to heat if you are not getting warm enough. Consider the size of your location when determining whether you need a larger heater. If that is not the reason, then perhaps your gas input to the furnace is too low. Other options are to clean or replace dirty air filters, use a faster blower speed and ensure that there is nothing clogging the ductwork.

When my old furnace needed replacement in the fall of 2013, I was quite sure that I was going to buy the same brand yet again. I had lived in the house for more than twenty years and never had to repair the Ducane Gas Furnace. It heats our home in a short time and has significantly lowered our gas and energy bills. I’ve had no issues with it but I’ve had it checked and serviced every year to ensure that it continues to deliver optimally.
I am so angry at my husband for purchasing this model. The power vent motor in this furnace died in less than a year of use and three months later I was required to change the ignitor and gas valve. It seems like everything is wrong with this Ducane. It vibrates and sounds like a train when on. When I called the technician about the issues, they said that it was normal and I had no cause for alarm. This Ducane unit is so bad I don’t even know what more to say.
Very pleased with recent complete A/C purchase. Unit works exceptionally well. The technician, Azi, did a great job installing & explaining functions of the unit. He was very courteous & professional during entire process. Highly recommend!
Rated this 4 stars only because I wish it was quieter than it is when operating. It replaced a 14 year old condenser with a failed compressor. The new unit is only marginally quieter than the old unit.
Both AC units are performing better than expected. In 90+ degree weather, my home is extremely cool. I'm very pleased.
We purchased this unit back in 2014. It was a replacement to our previous gas furnace, which we had been using for more than twenty years. This unit is noticeably quiet and provides a cool and comfortable environment. With this unit, our energy costs are notably lower and so is the energy consumption. The variable quality allows it to run slowly with enough heat. This one is clearly among the best.
So far our new Air conditioner is working great. Our installer was very professional and communicated with us every stepbof the way. Simply Stellar. A huge Thank you to American Air & Appliance. We recommend American Air & Appliance to anyone nerding Service work or an entirely new AC & heating unit.
This unit is horrible! I had two of the Ducane units installed at both sides of my home less than four years ago. Both models freeze regularly and bring water in my home. I live in Arizona where we experience a lot of dust and so their filters require replacement in every three to four weeks. They are also noisy and I haven’t noticed any difference in the temperature of my home. It is a total waste of money. This unit is horrible! My last furnace died down in last year’s winter and I wanted something better. I did a quick internet search and was impressed by the reviews on Ducane Gas Furnaces. I immediately purchased the furnace and had it installed. So far, I’m so impressed with this furnace. It heats quickly, runs well, and has saved me quite some amount of energy bill in comparison to my old one. If I were to make another purchase, I would still go for Ducane.
I am very happy with this unit that I purchased definitely worth the money . Keeps my house nice and comfortable and that's very important here in South Texas.
