How to Cook Food Evenly in a Microwave?
Posted On: December 28, 2020

Microwaves are a convenient and easy to use appliance in every kitchen. Although it is used in most households, some people struggle to cook their food evenly. Pay attention to the following tips on how to cook your food properly in a microwave.

Microwaves heat your food differently than a gas or electric oven. It heats your food through electromagnetic waves which generate heat. Newer models typically have a turntable because microwaves are known to have warm and cold spots. Typically, microwaves only reach about an inch and a half deep into your food, while the rest of your food heats up through conduction.

Spread Out Your Food

Instead of placing your food in the center of your plate or container, try to spread it out around the outer edge. This will help cook your food better. This makes it easier for microwaves to reach and create enough friction to heat your food properly.

Use a Cover

Using a cover will help heat your food evenly because it stops water from evaporating. This will prevent your food from drying out. Make it a practice to leave a small gap for steam to escape.

Smaller Intervals

Instead of heating your food in one long cycle, try 1-minute intervals. Mix your food with a spoon in between intervals to heat evenly.

Make sure to follow the above tips if you are having trouble heating your food evenly.
