Is it okay to use my dishwasher every day
Posted On: October 4, 2021

After cooking a large meal, the last thing you want to worry about is doing the dishes. And one of the advantages of a dishwasher is that you can take time to relax as your dishwasher cleans your dishes. But you don't need to fill your dishwasher to the brim to use it. Some machines are equipped with smaller load settings, so you can use it even if it's not full.

That being said, is it okay to run the dishwasher every day?

There is no general rule saying you cannot run your dishwasher every day. Washing dishes in the machine uses less water than when you do them by hand.

Though if you run your dishwasher every day, there is a chance you are decreasing the unit's lifespan by a few years. But if you're still planning on using your dishwasher more often, there are a few things you can do to make it last longer.

  1. Detergent is essential: Using a name-brand detergent like Cascade is better for your machine than that no-name dish detergent.
  2. Do not overload: Avoid cramming every dish into the dishwasher as a dishwasher with too many dishes will affect how it cleans and strain the unit.
  3. Regular Maintenance: To keep your dishwasher running in top shape, it's always best to run regular maintenance on it. This includes running an empty load with a dishwasher cleaner.

If you are one of the few people who own a dishwasher but prefer doing dishes by hand, it's essential to know that you should run your dishwasher at least once a week. Not using your dishwasher can do more harm than good.

Running your dishwasher once a week keeps the seals tight and the motor working.

Remember always to check to make sure your dishes are dishwasher safe before loading them and that you are using the correct setting for the size of the load.

The bottom line is, yes, it's okay to use your dishwasher every day, as long as you use a good detergent and load it accordingly. Be sure to check your owner's manual for any additional information on your machine.
