Air Conditioner Repair

Keeprite manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of Keeprite appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.

How to Replace Your Keeprite Air Filter
How often you should replace your air filter depends on the size and location of your home as well as your specific climate. However, many experts suggest replacing filters every two months to maintain optimal performance.

Turn off power to your Keeprite air conditioner
Remove the access panel
Locate the system’s air filter. Typically these can be found near the return air duct
Remove the dirty air filter
If the filter is reusable, clean it. Otherwise, grab yourself a new air filter
Replace the cleaned or new air filter into the slot
Close the access panel and return power to the air conditioner

Do you find that your outside unit is only blowing hot air?
If the compressor is operational, but the fan isn’t working, the condenser fan itself is likely defective. However, if the opposite is true, the unit might need more refrigerant or have a defective compressor.
If the outside fan is working fine but the blower motor isn’t working, examine the blower motor for defectiveness. Additionally, you may want to check on the control board and run capacitor.

Do you believe that your air conditioner isn't producing enough cool air?
In this scenario, check to see if the compressor and condenser fan are both working properly. If this seems to be the case, but your home still feels uncomfortable, measure the system’s temperature drop. Your air conditioner will have to run for at least 10 to 15 minutes before you can take a reading.
If the measurement appears too low, the unit’s refrigerant charger is likely defective. Alternatively, if the reading is much too high, then you will want to check on the blower motor, evaporator coil, and air filter. Anyone of these internal components might be dirty or defective.

Do you find that cool air isn't circulating properly through the floor and ceiling registers?
Check on the outside unit to see if the fan is working properly. If the fan isn’t performing correctly, the breaker associated with your air conditioner may be defective. However, if the breaker isn’t the issue, check on your system’s control board or thermostat.

When to Get a Technician for Keeprite A/C Repairs
Although you may be able to effectively diagnose the source of your Keeprite air conditioner’s problem, it’s typically considered more advisable to contact a certified HVAC technician when it comes to performing the repair. Air conditioning systems are an expensive investment; therefore you can fully protect your investment by bringing in trained heating and cooling professional.
Additionally, many top companies will offer homeowners an extended labour warranty to ensure that their system is performing properly years after the fix.

Furnace Repair

Check the Furnace Power
After verifying that the thermostat is set properly and is getting power, ensure that the furnace itself is getting power. Check fuses and the circuit breaker to ensure that power is getting to the furnace. Also, check the electrical switch at the furnace to make sure it is in the ON position. If maintenance or repair work has recently been done on the furnace, this switch may have accidentally been left in the OFF position.

Reset the Furnace
If your furnace has a reset button (it’s often a red button located on the front, side or back of your furnace), try pressing it. If the furnace powers up, you should soon have heated air cycling through your home once again. Sometimes, pressing the reset button is all that is required to get your furnace working properly. This button controls an automatic shut-off feature that shuts down the furnace if it gets too hot or if there are other problems. A furnace that frequently shuts off automatically may have other issues, such as a clogged air filter or blocked ducts that are causing the furnace to overheat.

Check the Service Door Cover
It is possible—particularly if you’ve recently changed your furnace filter or done other maintenance—that the door to your furnace has been left open or closed improperly. If this is the case, properly shutting the door cover on your furnace may fix the problem.

Look for Filter Dirt
Dirty furnace filters are one of the most common causes of furnace failure. A dirty furnace filter can limit the airflow through your furnace and cause it to overheat, which will shut it off automatically. If you suspect a dirty air filter, change the filter, press the reset button (if your furnace has one), and see if your furnace begins to emit heated air. Change your furnace filters regularly—pros recommend changing them once a month—to ensure that your furnace continues to work properly. Unaddressed, dirty furnace filters can cause extensive, and expensive, damage to your home’s heating system.

Check the Standing Pilot
If you have an older furnace with a standing pilot light, it’s possible that the pilot light is extinguished. First, confirm that the light is out. Then, turn the gas valve to the off position and wait five minutes. If there is a reset button on your furnace, turn the valve to the pilot position and hold a flame to the dedicated pilot gas tube while pushing the button for about 30 seconds. If the pilot doesn’t light on the first attempt, wait a few minutes and repeat the procedure, this time depressing the reset button for 45 to 60 seconds.

Clean the Flame Sensor
The flame sensor safeguards your furnace by ensuring that gas flows only when there is a flame to ignite it. A dirty flame sensor may cause your furnace to function improperly. Typically, the flame sensor comes in the form of a rod that can be found near the back of the furnace, right in the path of the burner. To clean the sensor, turn off power to the furnace at the breaker box. Then, if possible, remove the sensor from the furnace. Scrub the sensor gently to remove dust and other residues. Finally, reattach the sensor and restore power to the furnace.

I got this unit installed recently. I am not sure but I think I paid a fair price, based on what others have paid. The contractor included a ten-warranty for parts and labor as part of the deal. In addition, he offered a brand new outdoors foundation and a thermostat that is programmable. I am satisfied with Ameristar so far.

My first furnace came with the house. As a result, when it started getting noisy and blowing cold air, barely one year after I moved in. I did not want to sink my money into something I knew little about. Consequently, after some research, I settled on buying the York TM9V. Its 96 percent efficiency rating meant that the upfront installation cost and purchase were a bit high. However, I expect to make great savings from the high efficiency of this furnace. It has been two great years with this furnace and it has no problems at all. I expect it to stay this way for at least another twenty years.

This furnace has worked quite well for my three-bedroom house in Duluth. Even in the middle of winter. I have seen a forty percent drop in my average gas bills since the system became operational. I have been using the furnace for seven years now. During that time, I have only had one crucial service call to replace the gas inlet valve. Thanks to my warranty, regular change of air filters have ensured the system continues to run efficiently.

I had this unit installed after the old unit was hit by lightning. I am not sure if I paid too much or that was just about the right price. So far, the system has not had any issues. It runs efficiently and keeps the down cooled down, just the way I like it. What I liked about it most is how energy efficient. The contractor who did the installation job told me it could reach a 21-seer efficiency under the right conditions.

I decided to take the system with a five-year warranty. This is especially great if one is not planning to stay in an area for long. Although, there is an option for a decade-long warranty I do not plan to stay that long. The system has so far provided reliable service in the two years since installation, something which is of great benefit to me.

The price I paid was inclusive of installation fees for the new duct system in the home. This was after the contractor informed me the old system was just too inefficient. In addition, the price was inclusive of all the necessary permits. After the three years, with regular checkups, the system is still working fine.

This unit was actually installed by my aunt. On the winter of 2012, when she installed it. Despite the house, being old and poorly insulated. This powerful furnace still managed to keep the house warm enough. My only regret is that I live so far away. As a result, I will not be able to carry the furnace with me.

KeepRite has been keeping Canadian homes warm for more than 50 years, and in that time they’ve earned a reputation for reliable and high-quality products. They have a range of models available depending on your needs, including more affordable standard-efficiency options with ratings of 80 percent AFUE and higher (though these are meant for the USA market), high-efficiency models with ratings up to 98 percent AFUE, and options for both gas and propane furnaces. Beyond that, each unit is tested before being delivered, and many come with a 20-year warranty on the heat exchanger.

A reputable company in my town installed the furnace; something I attribute to its reliability four years after installation. The warranty terms were quite favorable, so I decided to take a full ten-year warranty. This has greatly contributed to the low running and maintenance costs. Except for a few issues, last year, which was covered by the warranty. The system has been running quite smoothly.
