We purchased a stainless steel KitchenAid bottom freezer refrigerator in September 2013. It was fine for a year, but suddenly the PO sign showed up on display board and nothing has been right since then. Upon calling Whirlpool (30 minutes on phone) they suggested we call the repair companies listed on their website. First company we called was Diamond Repair and that guy fiddled around and since he could not figure out the problem, told us that the fault was with the outlet in our brand new built house! Ok, so we called the builder and they looked at it and declared it fine but changed it to a brand new one. Problem continued with the constant beeping and PO symbol on. Then I called Maytag company to look at it and that has been a nightmare. After the first tech left, our water dispenser that was working fine till then, stopped dispensing. They said that maybe it was a coincident that it failed and their tech was not at fault. What!!! They are simply unhelpful. Their techs come out and between the two visits they have changed each and every circuit board, to no avail. Much to our chagrin, whenever I call Whirlpool customer service center, and speak to a manager, they make me repeat the problem, promise me that they will call back and I never hear from them!! One time they supposedly ordered new door for this fridge, but the tech from May-tag came with new circuit boards and did know anything about any door being ordered. I wash my hands off Whirlpool company. The fridge was clearly a lemon. In all the years of owning several refrigerators, this has by far been the worst fridge we have owned but the Whirlpool customer service has been pathetic, to say the least. I will make sure none of my next appliance is even partly owned by Whirlpool!

Why is it so difficult to make dependable products these days? We purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher in January 2013 and the control panel went out twice within the first year and now it is out again and the dishwasher will not run. The model number according to the inside of the machine is W10502126A. Now I just purchased a one year parts/labor warranty which was not cheap to have them come out to replace the panel. I bought the warranty because something tells me this is not a permanent fix rather a band aid as I think it will go out again before the year is up. Expensively made cheap product.

Built-In Double French Door Refrigerator, Side By Side, Freezer Drawer Bottom. 1 Year Old, $10K Unit. Five service calls on the doors that dont close or seal properly. Door springs replaced 4 times. Last a couple of weeks, then break again. Service is subbed out to an appliance repair outfit that could care less. Poorly made product. KitchenAid should replace this box under warranty, but they keep giving me the runaround. Bad product. Bad Company. Bad Service.

My KitchenAid model# KFEG500E does not hold the correct temperature for more than 20 minutes before it drops 15 to 20 degrees. It is near impossible to bake anything and have it be done at the correct time. I am shocked that the KitchenAid brand is so inferior to what it once was. My old KitchenAid oven served my family for 36 years before it finally died. My KitchenAid dishwasher is still going after 37 years and hope it lasts a little longer as I hate to see how bad the new ones are. It sure will not be a KitchenAid!

We spent $665.11 on a microwave that lasted 1 year and 2 months. As is does not fall into their 1 year warranty, they refuse to help or compensate in any way. We had the same issue with a $900 dishwasher we purchased from KitchenAid a couple of years ago. BOTH appliances stopped working after exactly 1 year! It would seem that they are in the business of manufacturing CHEAP China appliances that break shortly after their warranty so you must purchase another one.Customer service is no help at all. They just read from a script repeating the same sentence over and over again. Other companies like Black & Decker and GE have much better customer service and ability to help customers when their products do not work. Would shop from them instead! After reading the above comments, I should have thought twice about buying a KitchenAid. My ice dispenser stopped working. I had purchased the extended warranty and the repairman replaced the motor but discovered it wasnt getting any power. The user interface had malfunctioned, and guess what? The factory in Japan that made them isnt doing so anymore. Sounds familiar? My money for the warranty was refunded and I was told I was basically out of luck. After many phone calls between KitchenAid and the warranty company, I contacted the CA Better Business Bureau. There is a Civil Code 1793.03 that requires manufacturers to provide replacement parts up to 7 years after purchase. I filed a complaint with them, but was told I should contact an attorney to see if it would be worth taking them to court. The problem occurred less than 3 years after I purchased the refrigerator from Sears in 2010. I thought I was buying it new, but according to the warranty company, it was made in 2008. In short, avoid buying appliances from Sears and stay away from KitchenAid!

I purchased a KitchenAid stainless steel dishwasher on 5/9/2009, model number KUDX03FTSS. As of now, the stainless steel is rusting. How can this be? All of my other stainless steel appliances are over 10 years old and they are not rusting. The bottom line is KitchenAid is using a sub quality of stainless steel in all of their appliances. I called KitchenAid and they said there is not a warranty for finish on their appliances. How convenient is it for KitchenAid to reduce their cost of materials by using substandard stainless, then say there is no warranty on the finish? That is nothing but a ripoff by KitchenAid. I will never purchase a KitchenAid appliance ever again. I hope who ever reads this seriously considers another brand.

I have owned the refrigerator for 3 years now and have nothing but problems
I have owned the refrigerator for 3 years now and have nothing but problems. First time I did not buy extended warranty and it has bitten me. 1 1/2 years in and the fridge stops cooling. Repairman came out and said it lost Freon. He fixed it and it only lasted a month. Called different repairman out and he said same thing that fridge lost Freon but this time he would have to take to shop to repair. Fridge gone for 2 weeks. Both of these companies were recommended by KitchenAid for warranty work. I never paid a dime but I was without fridge for a total of 3 weeks and lost all of my food on the first failure. Now it has been about 8 months and now my ice maker has quit working and the fridge is not cooling like it should. Everything is now out of factory warranty and I am not throwing any more money at this thing. So disappointing that I could not get more than 3 years out of a $2200 fridge.

This range (Frigidaire Gallery 30 electric range model# CGEF304DK) was included in our new home purchased last year. The range looks nice but the oven racks repeatedly fall down causing the food and pans to spill out! This problem I was told was due to my neglect. Are they kidding? Steel racks are not long enough to stay in contact with the oven sides! The racks are not distorted or bent they just fall down. This could cause serious flesh burns and or a catastrophic fire if unattended for any short time period. KitchenAid totally abandoned their responsibility in this matter. Also the convection fan failed to operate. This upscale range is not older than 3 years, its a disgrace. We put tin cans in to support the racks when using the oven. Pitifully sad. DONT PURCHASE THEIR PRODUCTS.

A KitchenAid KEBS207BSS01 Double Oven came with a new house we purchased. The first time we self-cleaned the oven, the blue porcelain flaked off the convection cover, exposing bare metal. KitchenAid Customer Service stated this was a cosmetic problem not covered by warranty, since the oven was still functioning properly. I replied that the self clean feature was a function that was obviously not designed to chip off the oven interior, and therefore not functioning properly. They suggested a purchase a blue pen from Amazon that could be used to paint over the chipped interior. Incredibly poor product quality and customer service.

I just spent $165 for yet another service call to replace the latch on my KitchenAid range that was purchased in July 2006 from Builders Source in Albuquerque, NM. This makes a total of almost $500 spent on repairs to a range for which we paid $1,346. This was the third call and the second latch for the oven door. The technician noted that the door hinges, replaced in November 2011, need replacing also. The oven door would not shut; it is losing heat and it couldnt maintain temperature and could not extinguish the light. Then, it would not open. All of these are safety and performance issues. There is no response to emails and calls to KitchenAids customer service.” Builders Source offered a discount if I want to buy a new range, but I dont want to shop for major appliances every 5 years. I dont want KitchenAids unsafe, over-priced, and unreliable junk in my house either. In addition to the range, the handle fell off my KitchenAid microwave, the compressor failed on the refrigerator, and the latch, springs, and door failed on the dishwasher. There was a time when an appliance’s longevity and dependability relied on being well-made, and buyers weren’t saddled with purchasing extended warranties. Until retailers like Builders Source insist that manufacturers stand behind serviceable appliances, consumers will be deluded and disappointed with shoddy merchandise and choosing between which brands will provide the least trouble and expense. I expect that KitchenAid will continue manufacturing unsafe, overrated products and unresponsive, uncaring service until their once-respected reputation and the retailers that push these shoddy products disappear.

Our microwave has failed more times than I can count: two circuit boards, the handle, the plastic grill, etc. The first failure was its turning itself on randomly. This unit is a fire hazard and the quality is absolutely the worst I have seen. I am a product design engineer and the plastic materials chosen are the cheapest and the design of the mechanical support features are like a rookie engineer did the work and knew nothing about plastics. The cosmetic cover and the air grill are now held on with black electrical tape. All of our KitchenAid appliances have had numerous failures. As near as I can tell, their product line is a total joke. Dont buy any of it ever.

We have had this range since March and it is a huge disappointment! On four different occasions the control panel has blown and shut down the power to the range. In order to restart it we had to reset the circuit breaker. After the second call to service we were told that we should put the stove on a separate circuit by itself. We hired an electrician and had a separate circuit put in for the stove. After the third outage KitchenAid replaced the control panel, but last week it went out again.Next problem is that the knobs and front panel get extremely hot when you run the oven for more than 30 minutes. You need a potholder to turn the knobs. Reported this concern to safety dept. who sent the serviceman again to test the temperature. It was 140 degrees at the knobs, but 160 is the legal heat level. A child could easily burn their hands. Lastly, the AquaClean does not work very well. The edges dont come clean and the large glass door is impossible to clean. There is heavy grease stains all on the glass that cant be removed. This range is not acceptable and is not recommended. There doesnt seem to be any resolution.

I purchased a KitchenAid side-by-side Refrigerator #KSCS25INSS00 for almost $3000.00 from Sears in 2004 with 5-year service contract. In 2009, I called KitchenAid Repair because of cracks in cavity liner since it was under factory warranty. Serviced by A&E Factory Service, who strongly let it be known that the service charge must be paid regardless to analysis, Serviceman Raymond #** said the repair to the cracks in my refrigerator were cosmetic and would not affect the cooling of the unit. Service was under warranty but the repairman advised against cosmetic repair because it would show as a patched-over look, will not look good and again, would not make a difference in the cooling. I found out this was not so. I began to notice over time that milk, juices, and other foods seemed to be slowly spoiling more than usual. In July 2011, refrigerator was not cooling. I called Sears for service and was put under extreme pressure to purchase smart agreement prior to appointment or pay service charge prior to serviceman sent to my home. I took smart agreement, serviceman #** arrived with computer and wand type device and said that he really didnt know what the problem was but it was probably maybe a leak and seemed to be a sealed system internal problem. He steadily called in to confer with others and after about 2.5 hours, he said he would try to find the leak and the decision about the unit would be up to Kitchenaid. I advised that I had a Kitchenaid warrant on the seal system problem. He advised to give the refrigerated part 12 hours (freezer 24 hours) to adjust and call Sears of any problems and then left. The unit seemed to operate for a day. Ice formed in the freezer but melted down the front of unit. I called Sears immediately that day and could not get an appointment until the next week! Serviceman #** came and was in my home no more than 5 minutes and placed a sticker deemed unit not economical to repair/scrap and said Sears would offer a $500 discount on another unit! I complained that it was not economical for Sears to repair but it was economical for me to spend more money! I reminded him that Kitchenaid warranted that problem and was advised to call them. I called Kitchenaid and was on phone for more that 2.5 hours getting the runaround especially with Customer Experience Team. I spoke with several people about them honoring the warranty on the sealed system repair and was told they would send a serviceman out to check out the unit. Serviceman from A&E turned out to be the same first serviceman from Sears and he refused to return although he was representing Kitchenaid. He said he was not allowed to call Kitchenaid and that I would have to do that myself. I was back on the phone with Kitchenaid Customer Experience for another 3 hours and was being preached by Tammy or Pammy about Tech Teams from Sears and Kitchenaid not reporting my problem. But she said Kitchenaid would stand by their warranty. She finally said she would have a Kitchenaid supervisor contact me and I gave her the best number to contact me which was not followed. The supervisor Denna called a few days later and left a message on my home number, not the preferred number that I have given. Dennas message was that she didnt know what Kitchenaid could do for me and advised that it would be best to take Sears $500 offer but I could call her to discuss it. I left several messages and she never answered or returned my calls to her **. One last attempt with Kitchenaid Customer Experience, I spoke with an assistant Joetta, at the same number, but another extension **. After a lengthy conversation, reminding her that I had a Kitchenaid warranty on this repair, she seemed to agreed to help with the problem and said she would send a team that could help with the situation. She took all the necessary information and promised to get back to me. That was two weeks ago. Nothing. It is apparent that Kitchenaid does not stand by their warranties and do not care about the customers.

We bought all new KitchenAid appliances for our new home in late 2011. Two years ago I had to replace the refrigerator after losing the compressor. It was going to be almost $900 to replace the compressor or $1300 to buy a new refrigerator, so we bought a new fridge, but NOT a KitchenAid. Also in 2017 two of the five burner knobs seized up and could not be turned on. Another service visit and about $500 later these were fixed. Now this week I’ve had to call for service AGAIN because two other burner knobs have seized up and cannot be turned on. This will cost me another $400-500 again to get it serviced. I’m seriously thinking about replacing it with an electric range. It takes forever for the oven to preheat and also takes forever for water to start boiling. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER KITCHENAID PRODUCT!! They used to be great but nothing but problems now.

Just replaced all appliances in our kitchen with KitchenAid. Very pleased with all but the double oven (Kitchenaid KEBS209BSS double convection). This unit is very well designed and nice to look at. It is also a very noisy appliance. There is always a fan running when in use. I understand the reason for the fans coming on but they are very loud and change sound pitch with temperature. Following Mr. **’s purchases of these appliances, all stainless steel Whirlpool branded appliances, rust quickly formed on the stainless steel facades. Mr. ** first reported the rust-damage to Tri-City Sales (262 Highland Avenue, Salem MA 01970) in July 2012. Tri-City arranged for L.A.R. Appliance Service (103 Albion Street, Wakefield, MA) to visit on 01/08/12 and inspect the appliances. (Apparently L.A.R. is subcontracted by Whirlpool to do local service visits.) The L.A.R. service technician told Mr. ** and his wife that he would order a complimentary replacement door for the range. However, upon noticing that multiple appliance doors had rust damage and were in need of replacement, the technician telephoned his office for advice, and was in turn referred by telephone to Whirlpool’s corporate representative who instructed him to refuse repair/replacement of Mr. **’s rusted new appliances. The L.A.R. tech informed Mr. ** that Whirlpool instructed that because the damage was cosmetic, it would be denied warranty coverage. He thereafter gave Mr. ** Whirlpool’s customer service telephone number, 800-422-1230. Mr. ** called the number immediately. After an extended wait, an incoming telephone call handler answered. Mr. ** explained that he had purchased these appliances to furnish a new kitchen and had simultaneously purchased a washer and dryer also manufactured by Whirlpool, which had a white rather than stainless finish and had sustained no such similar damage. Mr. ** stated that apart from the function of the appliance, the stainless finish was an aesthetic part of the design and therefore an integral part of the product which had failed by rusting. Mr. ** received in return a long winded reply amounting to a nominal apology, thanks for the feedback, and a statement that the rust damage is not Whirlpool’s problem and that all warranty coverage of this issue would be denied and Whirlpool would do nothing to cure Mr. **’s dissatisfaction.Mr. ** asked to speak with a supervisor, and was eventually transferred to one. The supervisor suggested a special “cleaner” that replaced “the lost oil” (to which he apparently by analysis over the telephone attributed the rust damage) and stated that provision of this cleaner is all Whirlpool is willing to do to address Mr. **’s concern about his new rusted appliances. Mr. ** explained that if oil had indeed been lost, and so rust damage was commenced, then the products were defective. Mr. ** rejected the customer service supervisor’s offer of a bottle of cleaner to repair his $6,000+ worth of rusted appliances, repeated his points of concern, and made a plea of his loyalty to the Whirlpool brand and requested that the company’s customer service team answer his concerns, and resolve this matter amicably. The supervisor again rejected his pleas but this time curiously modified the rejection with “at this point.”It is not clear what point Mr. ** has to get to in order for Whirlpool and/or KitchenAid to agree that it is not reasonable to expect customers to endure a home full of rusted appliances approximately half a year after new purchase. However, at this point, Mr. ** is disappointed that the warranty for these items has been repudiated and that KitchenAid/Whirlpool refuse to stand behind their products. While Mr. ** and his family were willing at the time of the service visit and telephone calls to accept replacement of the doors to these appliances (perhaps with a facade other than Whirlpool’s stainless steel), due to the stonewalling the company has subjected him to, he has retained me to defend his rights in this matter.Mr. ** did not receive any clear and conspicuous warning prior to purchase of these expensive appliances of an obvious substantial risk of rust damage to Stainless Whirlpool appliances. Nor are any such warnings included in advertisements for Whirlpool Stainless steel appliances. Were any such warnings made clear to Mr. **, he would not have made these expensive purchases. Accordingly, KitchenAid/Whirlpool’s policy regarding the concealment of the significant risk of rust damage (of which service technicians and customer service representatives have clearly been aware) constitutes a deceptive trade practice. In KitchenAid/Whirlpool’s failure to honor it’s warranty or to reasonably address Mr. **’s concerns, the company has committed breaches of warranty, the federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act, the Uniform Commercial Code, Massachusetts’ lemon law, and unfair business practices and other consumer protection laws. Accordingly, Mr. ** demands that his appliances be repurchased. Besides being sent directly to you, this letter is being submitted to the Better Business Bureau and to other Consumer Protection sites. Additionally, if swift action is not taken to repurchase these appliances, Mr. ** has instructed me to take all action necessary to enforce his rights including without limitation the filing of a lawsuit. Should this action become necessary, I will seek on Mr. **’s behalf all rights and remedy’s afforded to him by the law, including the payment of attorney’s fees and civil penalties for willful violation of consumer protection laws as may be appropriate. We hope for a swift resolution of this matter without the need to enforce the law and ask for a response to this claim within the next fifteen (15) days.

They had the same problem. We called the service. They said there was a delay receiving hot water: we need to reset it. They charged me $120. In two weeks this time, they said motor is faulty and it is out of warranty. I decided to get rid of it and purchased a new dishwasher. They did not responded positively. I even told them to come and check if the machine has factory faulty. They said no. DO NOT BUY IT. I had a much better warranty experience with other companies.

This model KUDC2OFVSSO - has been terrible since day one. The only way it gets dishes cleaned, is by washing the dishes prior to putting them into the dishwasher. It functions basically as a sterilizer, not a dishwasher. I would NOT recommend getting a KitchenAid! Im not sure where to go from here, but I wont ever buy another one, as I dont have $500+ to throw away.

Thinking Id go all out and buy my last and final refrigerator, I bought the fancy and expensive, and newest KitchenAid. Within four years I have spent over $600 on repairs (nothing covered by warranty). The first week of the Pandemic it again stopped working. I have thrown away over the last four years, THREE complete freezer contents with this refrigerator. The ice maker is positioned above the mother board, and drains onto it, and the repairman who finally came from the Factory said it was a major design flaw. This FIFTH repair was to cost nearly $1600 - and he said he didnt know if that would be all that was wrong. I have called and written my dealer and the parent company. I thankfully have an old KitchenAid in the back hallway, so have an inconvenient, but cold, refrigerator. Youd think when after only 4 years of wear by two people, and repairs requiring half the cost of the refrigerator, that KitchenAid would be more responsive to a long-time customer. I am so disgusted by this experience.

I purchased my KitchenAid Architect Series appliances in June of 2013, from Harrys Discounts Appliance. Unfortunately, dealing with this issue is the biggest headache I ever had. On delivery, the stove looked like it was dropped from the top of a building. The driver said, Please keep it and we will give you a great discount. I informed the driver to return the range and deliver a stove to me with no damage. We examined all the other appliances and they appeared to be undamaged. At the time, my house was under construction and we were not able to have the appliances installed until the contractor put up walls and re-built the kitchen. Upon installation, we didnt realize the Microwave was damaged. Once installed, the light, exhaust fan, timer and clock all were working, so we would assume that the microwave was functioning. However the microwave does not power on. I called KitchenAid for service. At first, they refused to take the call because it was over 30 days. I then called again, and they sent Dan Marc Appliance Repair Company to service the microwave. As per the repairman, parts needed to be ordered. When they returned, a new door was installed and the technician heated a bottle for 10 seconds and it did work. That was the first and last time the microwave functioned properly. After the one time use, I was cleaning the inside of the microwave and I cut my finger on separated metal. I called KitchenAid again; I was told to unplug the unit and they would send service repair, once again. When the repair technician came, he took pictures of the microwave and called KitchenAid. When I followed up I was told that they were going to send A& E Appliance Repair. On the day of service, A&E called and said unless we pay for the service call, they will not be able to repair the Microwave, which I refused to pay.I called KitchenAid again and based on the pictures and information that the repair tech took, I was told that it was determined the microwave could not be repaired and that it would be replaced. They also stated I would receive a follow-up call in 5 days, and no one contacted me. I called again only to be told that it was more than 30 days and it was damaged and would not be replaced.Let move on to the Refrigerator. This required repair service to address this issue four times with over a dozen customer service calls. The refrigerator has an ice buildup issue in the freezer and water lies on the freezer drawer. Due to this, we were not able to open the freezer door at all. I then called KitchenAid and they sent a service repair technician for this issue. After the repair was supposedly complete, I opened the refrigerator to find water & ice cycles hanging from the top of the refrigerator. After one of the repairs, I called to tell them about the water in the Refrigerator. Customer Service transferred me to a special department that was handling this issue. I was informed that KitchenAid has been aware of the problem and parts need to be designed to correct the problem. Apparently, KitchenAid is aware about this issue even before these appliances were sold. Meaning, Kitchen Aid knowingly sells faulty products to consumers. So when the parts were ready for installation I would receive a call. I was told to keep a towel handy to wipe up the water. This is absolutely unacceptable. For one of Kitchen Aids newest line of appliances I shouldnt have to keep a towel handy for anything, especially brand new products. The refrigerator has had repair visits on August 12, 26, September 16, 30, October 12. I called again for service on October 15, 2013 and I have not heard from the repair company. Unfortunately, I am still having the same problem. As for the stove, the grates on the range top are turning gray, the burns, caps & top are not able to come clean. Once again KitchenAid will not do anything because the product is more than 30 days old. The appliances I threw away that were 20 years old functioned better and were more reliable than these new Kitchen Aid appliances.I am incredibly frustrated at this entire process and have been dealing this issue for over two and half months. For a brand new line of appliances from what supposedly is a trustworthy company I have spent countless hours on the phone with customer service and days waiting for repair technicians to fix my appliances. Yet, nothing is functioning properly.I have spent over $4000 of my hard-earned money and waited over 25 years to re-do my kitchen and all I truly want is appliances that are reliable and function correctly. I am hoping that someone can help me; all I want is what I pay for working appliances. Please dont hesitate to contact me if you need any additional information. Thanking you in advance.

We bought this KitchenAid stainless steel 5-Door French door refrigerator at Best Buy in Nov 2016. After a couple of days of installation, we noticed the freezer frosting, so we went back to Best Buy and requested a replacement. The replacement same model refrigerator was delivered in Dec. In Jan 2017, the same frosting problem occurred. We called Best Buy asking to get it replaced again but told us to call KitchenAid because the purchase date was already over 1 month. Called KitchenAid and asked them if we can just get the refrigerator replaced or get a refund and told them that Ive read a lot of reviews about this refrigerator with freezer frosting and that KitchenAid should have known about this problem already. But KitchenAid customer service lack knowledge. All they know is schedule repairs. From here started the repair process. Theyve sent this repair people several times (6x) already coming up with different ways to fix the problem but the freezer frosting still persist. This last fix that KitchenAid tech support told the repair people is to replace the door and it will take 4-6 wks to get the part. It is very inconvenient. All Im asking KitchenAid is give us a refund since it is new so we can get a good working refrigerator. But all they can do is schedule a repair.

After a thunderstorm and lightning storm our power went off. When the power came back on we had no control board lights - none. Oven not working. Called repair man - waited 2 days for new power board and replaced it. Same thing - no control board. Now he says he needs to change the control panel boards because he gets no power out from the power board he changed out that supplies power to the control panel on top. Well about $200 for a board he changed and they want another $400 for the control panel if we decide to order it. Those prices are w/out labor costs. Min $85 just for call out. Even if I replace this part that is no guarantee that the oven will work again. I could spend as much money as it cost me originally to buy it. It was not cheap for the Kitchen-Aide Superb gas range when I bought it. I can remember when people would replace ovens/ranges just because they wanted a newer bigger one. Not that anything was wrong with the one they had, they just wanted to replace something that had already given over 25 years of service and was given to someone else just starting out in life. Where is the quality of workmanship that used to be in the things that we build and buy? It seems like today the young people have been brainwashed into thinking that when something breaks it is to be thrown away and replaced. I guess the manufacturers have succeeded in instilling a real throw away society in our youth. It dont work, throw it away because it will cost you more to fix it than its worth. Rule of thumb should be if something is going to cost you about 50% of what it originally cost to buy it --- then throw it away. They dont make anything like they use to.

My comments are reflective of everyone elses complaints on their dishwasher
My comments are reflective of everyone elses complaints on their dishwasher. I must be going crazy because I can hardly believe that a dishwasher cant wash dishes! Ive been pulling my hair out for 4 years trying to figure out why my dishes are so bad. I have convinced myself its our hard water (although we have a water softener) or the lack of phosphates in the detergents (I only use powder) and I even bought some contraband phosphate commercial detergent form amazon... No luck.I have to show you how bad my glasses are, so bad my kids have stopped using them because they are dirty. A lot of it appears to be etching, some is a film that can be scraped off with a razor, but none will come off with a scrubber or soap. This build up is an endless cycle of more crap sticking to it with every wash! I hand wash glasses all the time and refuse to buy another set of new glasses only to ruin them.I must say other than the door hinge cords breaking I havent had the misfortune of ANY broken parts or broken controls (crossing fingers!). I use my dishwasher every day. I do have a tip on the door hinge. DO NOT pay a repair person to do it. The part is $15 and 15-30 minutes of your time. Also note that we installed generic parts and we ended up with the loudest creaky door you have ever heard. The fix was to put the OLD wheels on the new part, and it worked like a charm (apparently the new wheels are made from a different plastic!) My request from fellow consumers... What dishwasher will you replace yours with? I just want this to go away!!!

I called KitchenAid service and spoke to a supervisor. I told her that I have had one of their fridges for under 4 years, and had purchased the extended warranty. She expressed no interest in looking at photos of the hundreds of small rusty colored spots all over the front of my fridge. She did not seem interested in finding out what caused them. She told me I would have to pay for a service call, as they only warranty cosmetic damage for 30 days. I have always used stainless steel cleaner on my appliances and the fridge is the only appliance that has these dots. KitchenAid offered to help whatsoever. Terrible customer service; will never buy their products again.

Updated on 10/04/2020: When the compressor failed the digital read out display also went. The compressor is covered by 5 year warranty, but not the digital display panel. They failed on the same day?? This is a top of their line unit. (Not cheap). They came out and gave me an estimate of $600 for new digital readout unit. I am at 6 weeks and counting without the fridge and no one can give me a date!Original Review: Appliance was 4 months off first year warranty when compressor failed causing electric control panel to need replacing. Although compressor is covered in second year I was charged for the service call and new control panel (over $600). This was a $2400 bar fridge. I expected better quality and service after purchasing $20,000 in KitchenAid appliances. Not sure this will ever be my brand in the future.

Kitchenaid Microwave/and convection double oven MODEL KEHC309JSS - I have been very happy with this appliance until after years of use I have to replace the 12V 5W light bulb in the ceiling of the microwave oven component. Because it is not accessible from the inside (as the two in over are), it is necessary to pull the entire unit out and disassemble the top third of the sheet metal cabinet. I finally, after researching for a few days and spending 4 hours taking things apart, got to the light bulb only to find that it is not available locally. I have found it online for almost $7 and an equal amount of shipping. There is no reference in the documents from KitchenAid as to how to change a light bulb. It sounds like a joke, doesnt it? Believe me, I am not laughing. Perhaps the engineer who designed this mess should have to change a light bulb before the appliance goes on the market. If I had called a service man to do this, it would have cost near $100 to get this done! If there is a simple way to do this job, I would sure like to know about it for the next time. Believe me, I questioned all the way through the project if I was overlooking something.

We bought a KitchenAid gas range in 2010. When I used the self cleaning mode my display went black and my oven was locked. We called manufacture while it was still under their warranty. They sent a repairman out and he replaced the circuit board. Now 2015 we have a reoccurring problem. Used self cleaning again. Oven locked. We bought an extended service plus warranty on Jan 9th 2015. Today on Jan 27th we are told that they will gladly refund us our money on the service plan even though it was stated in their warranty if its an electrical issue or mechanical they will replace it if it cant be fixed. Well they have stated its gonna cost more in parts for a 5 yr old stove. Well if they would of fixed the problem back in 2010 would I still be having this problem today in 2015. Seems to me there is a issue in the manufacturing of this range.

Operationally this is a nice-looking, relatively quiet, efficient machine with multiple modes of operation. Where it falls from grace is the isolation of the top/hidden electronics from the moisture of a functioning dishwasher. The replacement by the owner is not out of the question, but most users wont do this. The main control board can be replaced by unplugging a socket after the front of the machine is removed. One other drawback is the spring and cord mechanism that balances the weight of the door, it can break more than once in a 20-year operating lifetime. On the good side this unit is still working after 20 years whereas many others are broken and replaced. The motor, pump and dish/silver racks are all working and in good condition. The inside and outside stainless is fully functional and easily cleaned.

The thing never made ice and after having 4 visits from 2 different service companies the summer ended still without making ice. We called them back the next spring (house was winterize during winter months) and guess what? The warranty had expired. I had to buy a separate ice maker (not KitchenAid) so we could have ice. Called Kitchen Aid to advise that my stainless steel Kitchen Aid refrigerator began developing rust marks 2 years after purchase despite using stainless steel cleaning product recommended. Advised that cosmetics such as rust or discoloration after 30 days from date of purchase are not something they will address. Advised that they do not sell warranty for rust or discoloration. My Kitchen Aid stainless steel range which was purchased at the same time also has a spot where it is discolored. I expect this is only the beginning. The stainless steel used is manufacturing Kitchen Aid is obviously VERY poor quality. When I asked both the customer rep and the manager if Kitchen Aid considered it okay that their products should begin rusting after 2 years, they stated that they were only saying that after 30 days cosmetic issues like rust and other discoloration is not something they can help with. Nor is it something that they will warrant. If you are looking for your appliances to look good in your kitchen for more than a couple of years, I do not recommend Kitchen Aid.

We have had this range for 6 years. If you check the service calls, 3 have been for the oven not reaching maximum temperature. Each service call is close to or more than $200.00. The temperature works for a while and then returns to 259 degrees. Never been fixed properly. Now we have an error F2E1, service call $125.00. The repairman said we have an error F2E1 and we would have to order a new keyboard. Really $125.00 to tell us what we already knew. Now, to make matters worse he said this part, estimated cost $500.00, may not correct the problem and further work/parts would be needed and he wouldnt know until he tried the new part. The most frustrating part is he said the keyboard part could not be returned if further work was necessary thus increasing the price and that couldnt be determined until he started the work! So, we have decided to buy a new gas range and a new fridge and obviously neither one will be a KitchenAid.

I had an old KitchenAid microwave that Sears could not fix, so they offered a $575 credit replacement for it. I went to Sears and the one they stated was the same one was on sale for total of $484.49, so I ordered it and a week later it was installed. With just the two of us, we barely used it. Three weeks later while doing a baked potato in it on sense position, it caught on fire melting the plastic inside. They came out and stated it wasnt repairable so now they would only give a replacement value of the $484.49, so I had to add money to it just to get another microwave. Only this time I bought a GE. It should be here on Saturday and I hope it lasts longer then the KitchenAid did. Do not buy KitchenAid KHMS 2040, it will catch on fire.

Do not, I repeat, do not but a KitchenAid dishwasher... unless you expect to pay thousands of dollars to own it. I have model # KUD5301xbtr bought in 2011. Within 4 months, I had 4 service calls to replace a fuse. At that time, KitchenAid told me I was trying to get a new dishwasher. Gee, told them I had a new dishwasher - just wanted it to work. Finally it was fixed. I use the term fixed loosely. It quit again in early 2013, they would only offer me a new maintenance contract. But the company that does the maintenance contract were total jerks. Let me explain, what I called them about they recorded in their records to make it sound like one thing to their advantage. The long and short of this - the poor dishwasher will be taking space up in a local landfill. I have had my fill. I bought the dishwasher for $700+, and then add all the service agreements; it has become a $1,000 dishwasher that does not work. And KitchenAid will not admit there is a problem. We had remodeled our kitchen and bought all the appliances through hhgregg (which is another story). We bought the KitchenAid Architect Series II and have had an issue with the oven making clicking and whooshing noises every 55 seconds. It is the sound of the pilot light igniting in the oven. I have never heard this noise before with my old oven or anyone else for that matter. When we have the oven on, the noise is so loud and annoying! I put in a complaint to KitchenAid, but they told me that that was a normal sound. They sent a repairman out and he also said that that was a normal sound! Who has ever heard a loud ignition in their oven every 55 seconds? The customer service is horrible and the product stinks! Ill never buy from them again. Ill pay more next time and get the Jenny Air appliances. I had them for 18 years and never had a problem! How disappointing! We are stuck with a shabby appliance! Shame on KitchenAid/Whirlpool. Kitchenaid Dishwasher KUDS301XBL7 - The plastic rollers on the top and bottom are cheap and break a couple of years. We have replaced 3 out of 4 roller assemblies and anticipate the 4th to go soon. The second time he came out he replaced the controller. That change didnt help the problem at all. The last time he had a KitchenAid engineer on the phone trying to come up with a solution. I called Kitchen Aid, 800-422-1230. I was told the staining is normal. It is considered cosmetic and not covered under warranty. The doors are also cosmetic, even though I would need a repair man to disassemble the doors in order to clean them. I would not purchase this high-end item again, EVER. Model #KRFF707ESS01 Seriel#K63621163 - In March of 2017 we remodeled our kitchen. We purchased KitchenAid appliances due to the new industrial type of handles. As soon as we hooked up the fridge the water/ice dispenser was not working. When you would press the ice water would come out. We placed a call to warranty, they came out and could not find the part - about 3 weeks later they show up and replace the front panel with an older style front panel as the part on my fridge was too new. Then around a month later, the fridge starts making a horrible noise, we call. A company by the name of GGSL Appliance Repair (in Orange County California) comes out, the guy was very rude and you could tell he did not want to be there. He tells us we need to order our own part. He stated if he ordered the part it would take up to three weeks to get it in. We do as asked and order the part, it arrived the next day. Once the part arrived we could get a hold of no one to install the part. They were ignoring all of our calls. (In the meantime KitchenAid is aware of this. We kept calling them as well.) Finally the part is put in place. Then within a couple weeks the fridge will not hold temperature, the fridge is sitting at 60 degrees. Anyone who knows anything about food handling knows that bacteria grows if a fridge runs anything over 39-40. I have to throw away tons of food and meat including my condiments. I call KitchenAid complain my $3000 brand new fridge has broken THREE times now and they tell me someone will come out the next day. The company they then hired called and said, No. I am sorry we cannot come until Monday (even though my fridge is at 60 degrees). That day I call KitchenAid/Whirlpool and get an email to a clevland_resources@whirlpool.com. I email him as well as show him all my notes and receipt for the purchase of the part that should have been covered under warranty that was on 09/06/17 and he has not responded. The fridge repair people were at my house today and still not fridge (have to order the part). I asked how long they said they do not know because they need approval from warranty to order the part. My fridge is obviously a lemon at 3K and they dont care to do anything about it. I am beyond frustrated and want to warn others about the products and services they offer. I would have never bought this product had I known the outcome. Poor products, poor customer service.

We remodeled our Kitchen and we bought a new oven, microwave, dishwasher, warmer all KitchenAid appliances. First time we heated up the oven to 350 degrees, it heated up to over 500 degree and burnt the bottom of the oven. The temperature settings are very off and wrong, everything we cook we have to use set it very low to get it to cook properly. Dishwasher does not clean correctly and it was leaking, they did come in and adjust it. It kind of works now. The Microwave has been repaired twice in the first year, and this model cost $1000. The warmer works fine.I will never buy anything KitchenAid ever again. We have had nothing but 3 years of issues, and the customer service repair guy did not have a clue on how to fix any of these appliances so he just keeps ordering parts and wasting our time for this $1000 microwave. Really disappointed in KitchenAid. They are the worst and most terrible customer service team. They never offered to replace any of the appliances and when we unpacked the microwave it had a ding in the front of it.

We have a new dishwasher when we bought a new house, all appliance are KitchenAid... Dishwasher broke after 6 months, the technician fix it, broke again after 13 months/one year guarantee. It is a real piece of crap and now we have an odor of electric burning in the house. They said on the appliance built in America, oh my God. Dont spend money on KitchenAid. A lot of publicity but the quality is not there. I cant believe how all furniture are very bad quality. Washing machine, dryer, fridge, dishwashers. Better to go with LG, way better or Bosch... If you want something they will work at least 6-10 years.

We purchased a refrigerator, stove and microwave in 2011 from Spencers in Az. The stove oven door and drawer are not lined up properly. Oven door is 1/4 inch off with other side. The misaligned door is 1/3 inch off with the misaligned drawer. It looks like a half inch when looking at it. KitchenAid said it was within company standards and Spencers said if they took everything back people complained about, they would have a warehouse full. We will never do business with Spencers or KitchenAid again.

We built our house 3 years ago. We chose a KitchenAid kude48fxss6 for our dishwasher. We chose the higher end model thinking it would be better. The dishwashers 1st issue was in our 2nd year of having it. A gasket of some kind went on the inside. The water during the cycle found the path of least resistance out, and cause a fair bit of water damage to our floor by the time we came home and saw. My husband repaired the dishwasher with a $5 part. The parts store commented that it was a very frequently breakdown on these dishwashers. Next came the plastic nub that connected the top basket to the roller. Each basket has 4 of these nubs. Plastic becomes brittle over time especially when exposed to hot Temps and water. So not surprisingly one broke. And now mother recently the entire connection piece that the baskets roll on has broke.Fortunately my husband has been able to fix these items but its extremely disappointing that we spent good money on such garbage and also have to still repair a damaged section of floor. There isnt any accountability for the disposable garbage these manufacturers make. The use the cheapest components designed to last just long enough though standard warranty so that you are stuck repairing and or replacing. It should be criminal. They should take notes from the Toyota production systems and learn about continuous improvement. Then people would be fistful to the brand and their businesses would thrive rather than their current model of cheat and deceit. Sincerely, a mom of 3 little kids who has better things to do than wash extra dishes.

After a spill over from a fruit pie I tried cleaning my oven for the first time. I followed the directions...wipe up the spilled water in the bottom of the oven and the very short cleaning cycle. The water was not even hot when the cycle finished and absolutely nothing happened. The convection oven does not work so its a very expensive stove that I could have purchased in the 60s. Shoddy product.

We built a brand new house in 2011/12. New house means all new appliances. Our KUDS30IXSS6 from Sears seemed like a great product at first. So quiet you sometimes didnt even realize it was on. But then the wheels of the top rack broke off one by one. I realized my brand new Hickory floor boards were beginning to warp - the leak apparently inviting a colony of ANTS to live under my dishwasher!!! And the control panel would stop working from time to time, only to magically start working again after a week or two - just as I was about to call in a repairman. Well it has stopped working again and after reading countless stories of people with the same exact experiences as mine, Im not going to waste my money getting it fixed because according to the reports of others it will only happen again and again. This dishwasher is only 3 years old!! Within the first few months the problems started. A $900+ dishwasher that is worth nothing but a headache.

I purchased what I thought to be my last refrigerator in 2007, a KitchenAid KSSC48QMS03. I built my house and was able to maintain and solve any issues that arose and they were minor. 12.23.2014 my refrigerator stopped cooling. We trashed at least 500.00 worth of food and have been living out of an ice chest and an under counter refrigerator. I hired an independent repairman 12.26.2014. My cooling system was leaking but the control board was fine and the 12-year warranty was in effect. He referred me to Kitchen Aid factory service 12.29.2014 for 95.00. They told me it would be 1,200.00 out of my pocket to fix the WARRANTY coolant leak but they would not stand behind the repair. He also offered the tsunami tale. I went home and watched the evaporator fan run at full speed so my control board and refrigerator do not have the problems he outlined. I am now waiting for a call from Whirlpool to entice me to spend more on another of their wonderful products. This is criminal.

This is a good looking, rather expensive refrigerator. It has a very well styled and functional interior; more room than I anticipated and much easier to store things neatly in freezer than my last side by side. The major disappointment is the drawers in the refrigerator part. They are so flimsy that they came apart and had to be taken out and put back together after using a short time. This was extremely disappointing since the rest of this appliance is sturdy, well thought out and beautifully styled. What were they thinking? I am very careful dealing with opening and closing filled drawers so they dont come apart again. I would certainly make checking out how well the drawers were made a priority when buying a new refrigerator. Something I would never have thought of before.

First the ice maker then the water dispenser and then the circuit board. We have had repairmen come out 6 different times trying to fix the problems. Finally after the 6th attempt the repairman said it was unrepairable and notified our warranty company...What a flipping joke!!We contacted Sears where we bought the appliances from - useless. They did not care even though the warranty company is Sears Home Warranty, every time we tried to contact them we could not get through and when we did there was never a Supervisor available and they would pass us along to their main office and all we would get was a voice mail box. They finally called us back to say all they can do for us is offer us $247.00 for replacement (of a $3500 refrigerator that is 2 years old). DO NOT PURCHASE KITCHENAID REFRIGERATORS! So disappointed. Worst fridge Ive ever had, at any price. Its runs so loud that it sounds like a machine gun. Seriously, it wakes me up. In addition, after only two years the ice maker broke. Its only got a one year warranty. I replaced it, and one year, ten days later, it started leaking, so my ice container constantly has a big block of unusable ice in it that I have to break up and throw out. Im not spending $300 annually to replace the ice maker, so I shut the thing off. Ive been making cubes in my $500 fridge/freezer thats in my garage. Kitchenaid obviously knows its an inferior ice maker, or they would warrantyit longer than one year. Its a piece of junk. Never again.

I went to the Lowes where we bought it and the new design is steel ball bearings - much better. But that leaves me and my family in the lurch with an $800 dishwasher that needs an upper rack every 2 years. Dear FOLKS, please read this review. WE FINALLY FOUND A SOLUTION!! My wife
Dear FOLKS, please read this review. WE FINALLY FOUND A SOLUTION!! My wife and I remodeled our upscale homes kitchen 2+ years ago. Granite, all brand new top of the line Kitchenaid appliances. We wanted to buy American, since I have had a 35 year + career in US based manufacturing sales. Well, the KFIS29PBMS refrigerator was unbearably loud from day 1. We had 4 warranty calls right off the bat. They replaced the DC fan motor, the compressor and some icemaker components. This did nothing to relieve the very loud whiny electrical motor sound that was on almost constantly. This took us to the end of our 1 year mfg warranty. We called Kitchenaid several times and they basically showed us their corporate middle finger. They suggested we purchase the extended warranty, which was several hundred $ more! No way, we are not that stupid or foolish. 5 different factory authorized service people visited us. By luck, or I think, Gods grace, repairman #5, who had 18 years as a tech rep, finally solved the issue. The problem was the sealed refrigerant system had a leak. The compressor was kicking into the highest gear (hence the loudest noise level) to try and keep the freezer & refrigerator cool. Our bottom drawer freezers coldest temp was at 20 degrees, when it should have been 0 degrees. The icemaker requires 15 degrees to make ice. It could not do this since 15 degrees was colder than the freezer temp, and the icemaker is located in the refrigerator section! The sealed system has a 10-year warranty, so the final repair cost $0!! Our refrigerator is now very quiet, much to our delight. There were times when we could not deal with sitting at our kitchen table. So, justice was finally done. Call your factory authorized repair people and make them check the temps in the freezer. Kitchenaid needs to stand behind their substandard products. The repair people advised us that Kitchenaid will no longer pay for warranty calls based on noise. If their customers make them replace the expensive sealed refrigerant system enough, perhaps they will spend the extra $ to install better quality units from better quality suppliers. I was told by every tech rep that the quality of todays appliances have deteriorated significantly in recent years. The big companies wants your $, but dont care if they send you bad products. Thank you, I hope this helps many people.

We have an 18-month old KitchenAid refrigerator - high end model with the freezer on the bottom. It began to leak water that settled at the bottom of the freezer. After a time, it would freeze so much that it would eventually leak out onto the floor. We looked in the book - no help there. I found your forum and a problem just like ours (same model even). They said it turned out to be a grommet that was too small and that a new style had been developed. So we wrote to KitchenAid about this. They denied that there were any problems. After several conversations with them and a copy of one of your forum notes on this, they finally did agree to at least pay for the part. Well the appliance man came and fixed it. It was indeed the old style grommet. He said it happens all the time. We wrote to them again and asked them about paying the labor (part was about $12 and the labor is $100). No, they would not do this. Apparently, according to the repairman, this refrigerator is not the only one with this problem. This model is also sold by Maytag and some other - maybe Sears? Just slap a different name on them and they all have this problem. So buyer beware. Make sure that they check this out before you bring it home or you too will be paying the price to fix it. We really bought what we thought was a quality product (now that we are retired and didnt want to have to deal with repairs all the time). So much for that! KitchenAid support was of no help at all. If I had to do it over again, I would not buy another KitchenAid product!

Our KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDS40FVSS (purchased in April 2011) stopped working (no water was being sprayed). We called County TV and Appliance (where we bought it) in Stamford, CT to get the name of an authorized service company. We were initially given Mr. Appliance in Connecticut at (203)-966-8151. They did not bother to call back until we made a third attempt. By the time they finally returned our call, we had made an appointment with J.B. Service located in Trumball, CT. They were supposed to arrive on Monday, Nov 19th between 9-12. They did not show up nor did they bother to call to say they would be unable to make the appointment. We rescheduled the repair work for today (Tuesday, Nov 20th) from 2-4 pm. The service technician arrived at around 3 pm but left not fixing the dishwasher saying that the shaft in the motor that grinds the food is broken and had to be replaced at a cost of around $400. The parts have to be ordered and it will take about three days to arrive. This is great. Thanksgiving is in two days and I have a house full of people arriving! What really bothers me is the diagnosis. The motor that grinds the food is bad. The ironic part is that I am one of those people who washes all the food off of my dishes before I put the dishes in the dishwasher. I really use my dishwasher for sanitation purposes only. So how can a motor that is not used for that purpose suddenly go bad? Furthermore, we had to pay $127.62 for the service call despite the fact that the company did not have the parts available. The technician then told us that only a portion of the service call invoice would be applied to the repair. I find it hard to believe that KitchenAid service can be so poor and that the motor can go bad in such a short time when it is not used for the purpose of grinding food!

Long story short, glass bits ended up in the motor costing me nearly 400 dollars to replace. If only she had gotten an authorization for the repairman to install a set, he could have taken care of the problem while he was here. I bought a new French door with bottom freezer refrigerator in July 2010. I had continued problems with the seals on the French doors and the doors not closing properly. Also, the ice maker is freezing over. After 4 warranty service calls, the problems were never fully resolved. Now, we have water which flows into the freezer compartment and freezes on the bottom. Once its full, the water flows onto our wood floors. This was a fairly new model for KitchenAid at the time of purchase and I would recommend do not purchase this style. The ice maker storage in the door is heavy and the doors do not seal properly, leading to a host of other issues.

The oven is a 1 1/2 old, and the enamel is peeling away. I am afraid that KitchenAid is not going to take responsibility in this, and apparently this has happen to other people. What action can I take??

This three-year-old dishwasher that is used infrequently, has a broken wash motor. This component, the most important one, is not covered by warranty. The company provided me with service repair providers who wish to charge $400 on a $700 dishwasher. The company does not offer a quality product. A major appliance such as a dishwasher should last longer than 3 years without a significant repair bill.

We purchased a French door KitchenAid refrigerator six years ago. Two days after the warranty expired there was a leak. We contacted a repair company and he said KitchenAid’s aware of this problem and they aren’t doing anything to fix it. He did fix the leak. The next year the icemaker went. We had that replaced. Now there is a different leak from the water reservoir. The water reservoir and assembly is obsolete and there is no replacement. After doing some research I found a replacement part number, but that replacement part is also obsolete. We will end up turning off the water supply for the water dispenser and just start buying bottled water again. This is the second time we had a KitchenAid refrigerator. We had no problems with the first one which was at a different property. Was still going after 12 years when we sold the property. When we remodeled the kitchen in our current home we went with KitchenAid. Now we are so disappointed. We can’t justify buying a new refrigerator only because of the water reservoir leak.

I dont know where to begin. There are SO MANY design flaws on this stove. The stove top burners look fine but you cannot fit more than two pots on it at a time (unless you are using very small pots). The back two burners are so small and inefficient they can really just be used for warming. The broiler consists of a single tube that runs front to back so the middle of whatever is cooking burns while the sides arent browned. The bottom rack of the top oven is so close to the bottom that food scorches on the bottom as well as your hand.I bought this stove 2 yrs ago and had continual problems with fluctuating oven temps (Used a conventional thermometer to check). The thermostat was replaced. A couple of weeks later, the computer board was replaced. Still didnt work. Quoted the lemon law policy and the stove was replaced. The oven then worked although I am stuck with the design flaws. Now the oven temp is becoming erratic again. I did buy the extended warranty but am anticipating an ordeal. P.S. I have never used the cleaning feature because I read consumers reviews.

We purchased model #KSS048QTB02 in August of 2009. This was the second 48 KitchenAid built-in we purchased along with all other high-end KitchenAid appliances in our kitchen. On January 22, 2016 the refrigerator could not maintain temperature and I called for service - right before a blizzard was expected. The factory warranty service provider was able to schedule with me for the next day but my extended warranty coverage would not send that particular provider. Their provider could not come out for a week. We purchased a small refrig to get us through and figured it could be a backup. We still lost about $1,000 of frozen meats and food that could not fit in the small refrig. Their service guy could not handle the problem - determined to be compressor failure - because they are not qualified to do sealed system repairs. Whatever that means. The original factory warranty service provider had a tech injured and was no longer available to come out to fix. KitchenAid said part WAS available but 2 days later was no longer available. Apparently so many back orders, they went out right away. I have now ordered privately and should get one from next batch supposedly later this month. My appliance salesperson tells me KitchenAid is trying to protect the brand, but I have not seen any help from them or the warranty company they recommend - Federal Warranty Service/Assurant. I have been getting the runaround for weeks. Every time I call they tell me claims will be in touch with me in 4-5 business days. They say the unit is no longer repairable and they will offer buyout - I presume they mean buyout of my service contract which is nothing considering this was basically a $10,000 refrigerator that barely lasted 6 years. Never again. So much for brand quality. What a disappointment. In every way.

I had 2 different KitchenAid Dishwashers in 9 years. Neither lasted more than 5 years. One only lasted 4 -- AND I bought the 5 year warranty. However, it doesnt cover the PUMP which broke. What is the use!?! I am so frustrated. I was dismissed by their customer service, and just told sorry. Well, that is certainly not good enough. This is a rip-off. If you are ok with spending over $800 every four years, good for you, but I am not. I called repair people in my area and they said the minimum cost to repair is 400. They said that model was not good to begin with, but I researched and researched, and I trusted the name. But they dont stand behind their product to even have parts in their warranty. I have to buy a new dishwasher, and I looked here for recommendations. I hope this helps someone avoid a KitchenAid mistake.

I purchased 5 KitchenAid appliances 45 days ago during their big 25% off promotion. That was mistake one. I get a call yesterday 4 days before delivery telling me that my fridge is backordered until April. This is the biggest load of lies since Donald Trump on Twitter. Investigating deeper and talking with my sales agent at home depot it sounds like any counterdepth fridge with external ice water have been pulled and no longer is available for purchase. They have even pulled all these models from the KitchenAid website. Ridiculous. Calling customer service, the company line is that there is no recall and it is available for order. So I ask if its available why is it no longer on the website. Needless to say I need to cancel my entire KitchenAid purchase. Do not make the mistake of buying KitchenAid.

Very disappointed with Kitchen Aid refrigerator quality. This is 2nd one. First one was replaced by Kitchen Aid after many attempts at repair. The ice maker spewed out water into refrigerator trays, water dispenser not working properly, pathetic (not wholly formed) looking ice cubes, ice buildup around ice cube dispenser chute and under ice maker. This one has similar ice maker problems as first except water dispenser works and water doesnt spew from ice maker to same degree as first refrigerator. Now after 2 years the LED lights on the top and in the freezer compartment have gone out except for one dot in the middle of each light set. After replacing the freezer light without fixing the problem, authorized repairman thinks a new computer board at over $1,000 MAY fix the problem. Refrigerator costing over 3 grand needs 1 grand repair after less than 3 years of residential use. Spend your money elsewhere.

I had an issue with the icemaker (not making ice). I called KitchenAid and technician came out. He stated he needed to order a part. We left for the weekend, came back and because the technician did not restart the refrigerator, we lost everything in the refrigerator and freezer. That was 3 months ago and icemaker is still not fixed.
