Microwave hood combo, model KHMS1850SSS-0. The plastic filters behind the metal vent screens were ignited by a stove top pan fire. I dropped a lid on the pan immediately. It took me a few seconds to notice the glow under the hood. By then it was too late. The vent fan was on of course, which only increased the intensity of the filter fire. The hood and microwave were totaled by the heat.

I purchased a Dual Fuel Range, Microwave and Dishwasher all at the same time. The dishwasher 2 years 1 month old. The motor went on this appliance. I called Kitchen Aid, they put me in touch with a repair company. A $ 500.00 repair!!! Dont spend your money on Kitchen Aid, buy a cheaper model and throw it out. I called Kitchen Aid and they offered nothing!!! Kitchen Aid will never get another dime of my business. Model KDTE234GPSO.

What a croc! We bought our house on May 12, 2012. The house was only 1-year-old at the time and had nice, shiny, new KitchenAid appliances in it. Last week I used the self-clean on my wall oven. After 3 hours and cooled, I wiped out the oven of the debris and found that the pretty blue interior has now changed to ugly grey. I didnt use the oven for a few days after cleaning, but when I did use it, it wouldnt heat up. I tried several times on several different days and temps, and followed the manual on troubleshooting to no avail. So I called the builder and the supplier. I was told only 1 year warranty on appliances. I would have to call a repairman. Well thats just great. For the price that these appliances cost, you would think they would have a better guarantee. Still waiting on what its going to cost me. After reading all these other reviews, if I need a new oven you bet your ** it wont be a KitchenAid.

Installed new 3 weeks ago. Convection microwave vents out the front. There is SO much hot air coming out, that the oven door handle is too hot to touch without a potholder, not to mention how hot it makes the kitchen with all that hot air!! It also shut off twice during the cooking process. Not sure if it overheated or what. Repair person replaced part that will hopefully fix the shutting off issue, but KitchenAid has no solution for the hot oven door handle. They have created a part that redirects the hot air coming out of the regular lower oven that makes the warming drawer handle too hot, but nothing for my situation. Very poor design!!

Purchased a Kitchenaid range in May, a couple of weeks later it started to chipping where you put in the racks. Ive complained about it and they its cosmetic! My last range was a kitchenaid and had it 18 years and not one issue. It shouldnt matter if its cosmetic or not, its new! No one seems to care about the customer anymore and because most appliances are made by only a couple of manufacturers we dont have a choice. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

KitchenAid KDTM404KPS Bought this dishwasher for new Kitchen Reno. Very disappointed with it so far. While it appears to clean well, it is very noisy on the wash cycle, definitely not the 44 db they claim. The grids on the racks are far apart and if smaller items are placed they can fall right through. No grips on the racks that would normally hold these items in place. My biggest disappointment is the third rack. I would have preferred a full cutlery rack. This one does really not hold too much cutlery or cooking utensils. Also plastic items on the racks are not kept secure and I think fly around during the wash. I now wash these smaller items by hand! Have been trying to contact someone at Kitchenaid through CHAT on their website, and after a few minutes, before any one responds to me, I am disconnected. Would like to ask Kitchenaid if they have any grips I can install in the dishwasher to secure smaller, lighter items. I hope they get to read this review. I would have bought a BOSCH instead, like the previous one I had. Just loved the third rack on it and with a higher db of 50, it was a lot more quieter. It too held a 16 place setting, and more as the area where the cutlery basket sits could hold large serving dishes. I bought my items in a rush during Covid-19, and was anxious to get out of the dealership as soon as possible.

I live in a new housing development. Like many of our neighbors, we purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher (model KUDE40FXSS5). We do not use the dishwasher heavily and our water temperature is set to 120 F (temperature is listed as a possible cause of failure). After only a little over a year, the dishwasher started leaking to the point where we had to get it serviced. Our neighbors have had a similar problem, so this is not an isolated case. This is really shocking. I am completely disgusted with the quality of this appliance.

I purchased new KA 5 burner gas range, French Door Refrigerator and Dishwas
I purchased new KA 5 burner gas range, French Door Refrigerator and Dishwasher in 2013. All stainless steel appliances. Did this purchased as I owned Whirlpool or Kitchen Aid appliances all my life. (Yes, Im over 60). The new appliances are just scrap. It took 4 refrigerators to get one that either wasnt damaged or the compressor was not froze up upon delivery. 4th one, door didnt close right upon delivery. We will take it back and get you a different one. NO! Im not waiting another 10 days for a new one. Youll fix this one. 5 days later they arrived with part. Good thing its under warranty guy says. They dont make a hinge. You replace the entire door for $500. Im thinking exactly what did I purchase here. Then I went to self-clean the oven. It had 2 spots where some cheese dripped off a pizza. Clean it off with damp cloth. Wiped it down with dry towel. Started clean cycle. When it was completed, the oven finish was either pitted or gone. I called KA. Response was, if you put foil on oven floor, that will happen. First off, I dont use foil on oven floor. Second, if I did, I wouldnt need to self clean the oven! DUH! They told me to call a servicer in the area. He says yep, some of them do that, the new floor panel is $67+. (I dont remember how many cents). So I called KA again. So I need to pay for this? Yes sir. But its only 2 months old. Its not covered sir. Listen, Im over 60 yrs old. I have owned Whirlpool/ KA forever. Never saw an oven do this. If it is that unreliable of a coating, just what chemical is it putting into our food? What happened to good quality porcelain? I dont know sir. I wrote Whirlpool an email. Explained this whole thing to them. Never did get a reply.I guess when a corporation does sales of $20 billion a year, you dont care about your customers or the product you turn out. At this point they are selling scrap on a reputation they used to have. Problem is, selling scrap products on a great reputation, catches up. With all the companies produced under the Whirlpool name, you need to research, and go to another separate, independent company from Whirlpool. I will never buy KA again, or Whirlpool. Their customer service just is bad. Nothing like it used to be.

Broken adjuster assembly KUDE40FXSS3 - Just under two years old and this is our third problem with this KitchenAid dishwasher. First the electronic locking latch stopped working properly. Then the dishwasher wouldnt drain properly. And now the rolling wheel mechanism of the upper rack (adjuster assembly) is broken. The design of the assembly is poorly done, since it will be under daily attack from soap and hot water and the small plastic parts that hold the wheels eventually break and cause the entire upper rack to fall.

I bought a KitchenAid DW and am very dismayed by the lack of information regarding this bizarre drain line. I have installed several dishwashers before and never had any issues as this. The drain line seems to be long enough if you could unravel it from their mountings on the side of the unit, which apparently are not to be removed? I still have no clue. I had to butt together 2 drain lines with a 3/4 nipple and 2 hose clamps to connect the 2 soft ended hoses together, seems wrong but impossible to get any facts. Some say remove the hose from its bindings, which looks impossible to do safely, or butt connect 2 hoses jury rigging it like some Ethiopian setup, not happy!

Two refrigerators. First is 2003 model. Compressor had to be replaced in 2010 and then the ice maker died. Instead of replacing we removed the offender and have resorted to ice cube trays. Second refrigerator, I believe is a 2010 model in newer home had the grinding mechanism crack its housing and will not dispense cubes. I am a very dissatisfied customer! I bought a KitchenAid Side-by-Side with Ice Dispenser Refrigerator (Model #KSRV22FVSS04) on 10/22/11 and have had to have 3 service calls within the warranty period (now about to end 1 year later) on the same problem with the ice dispenser. The dispenser chute mechanism is not strong enough to always close and will remain open and not properly dispense ice. When that happens, this allows warm air to get up into the auger mechanism and freeze it up completely, and water flows all over the floor. With the first service call, it was identified that we had been delivered an older model that had a design flaw in the chute mechanism that the company knew about, but didnt fix, and was also missing a part that had to be ordered and replaced in March 2012. We have maintained as per the manual, so any references to any manual maintenance are not applicable to this problem. However, on October 4, 2012, the same problem happened again, and I came home from work to find a leaking mess all over my kitchen floor again! I called their Customer Care for service, but they were unable to get someone right there for 2 days, and I had to take care of the mess to prevent damage to my kitchen walls and floor again! When the service person did come out today, they did not diagnose the problem correctly, and I still have this problem! To make matters worse, I immediately called KitchenAids Customer Care phone (now I understand why they are experiencing high call volumes) and again waited for 15 minutes, only to have to talk with a very rude Selicia who was unwilling to assist me in resolving my ongoing problem. When I asked to talk to her supervisor, Joetta came on the line and continued with the same rude, snobbish, refuse-to-assist-you attitude, almost calling me a liar; and when I requested for the service repair to come back out and fix the problem, she refused. She also refused to forward me to anyone else to enable me to resolve my customer complaint. For over 20 years, I had GE appliances, including a refrigerator with an ice dispenser, and never had any problems. This KitchenAid Refrigerator is my first and will be my last (and I will never buy another appliance that has the name, KitchenAid) because they sell inferior products that dont work as they are advertised, then they refuse to stand behind their products, and they do nothing to ensure good customer service and satisfaction. I will also be telling everyone I know about my horrible KitchenAid Experience and hopefully prevent others from falling victim to KitchenAids poor quality and service.

We have a new dishwasher when we bought a new house, all appliance are KitchenAid... Dishwasher broke after 6 months, the technician fix it, broke again after 13 months/one year guarantee. It is a real piece of crap and now we have an odor of electric burning in the house. They said on the appliance built in America, oh my God. Dont spend money on KitchenAid. A lot of publicity but the quality is not there. I cant believe how all furniture are very bad quality. Washing machine, dryer, fridge, dishwashers. Better to go with LG, way better or Bosch... If you want something they will work at least 6-10 years.

We paid a lot of money for this dishwasher. I had high expectations which were not met. Do not be fooled. A name does not mean a guaranteed quality product. The door malfunctioned after just a few months and now the dishwasher smells terrible as it doesnt clean like its supposed to. I filled out a complaint on 10/11/11. The repairman was at my house and replaced the motor on my 7-month-old dishwasher after waiting 3 weeks to get it repaired. It is now 10/21/11 and it broke again today. It was the same problem as last time, so I assume it needs a new motor again. I have to wait another 12 days just to get a service person to come out and look at it. Ill then be at over a month with a non-working brand new dishwasher in a 7-month period.

Kitchen Aid Refrigerator MOD # KSF26C6XYY04 Low quality - I bought this refrigerator from Sears as a slightly physically damaged product. That didnt bother me. What bothers me is that the cheap plastic draws inside the refrigerator side have all cracked and broken. When I called customer service in a right to work for less state they said that they would replace them, but that if it happened again it was a one time thing. Why I asked? They said the fronts of the drawers are cosmetic? Are you kidding me? You cannot open the drawer without the front on it. Can you open a cabinet without a handle, a front door without a door knob? I am incredibly disappointed with this company. We had a Kitchen Aid refrigerator we bought in 2000 and it was great. This is a $2000 sub par product. Stay away from companies like Kitchen Aid that build low quality products and then dont back up their own warranties. I will not buy from this manufacturer again.

Superba Selectra Oven Glass explosion - While we were at the bedroom, my daughter heard a noise coming from the kitchen. It was like a loud crack. Then, we muted the TV and we heard a second loud noise and went to see. The glass from the oven was scattered all over the floor and even reached the living room and adjacent rooms. We all were saying we are lucky nobody was at the kitchen at the moment it happened, but now I think there are many similar cases and want to do something. This event happened yesterday night, 10-19-12. Today, we will contact KitchenAid about it but as we read from the other complaints, it looks like Kitchen Aid is not going to cooperate. Nothing but crap now. Im sure to leave a review. Also bought the french door fridge and it would throw ice around your glass and end up on the floor. We got a replacement and it did the same thing. We finally had to upgrade so it would stop doing that. Now I cant get the water filter to reset on the new one. We bought the whole kitchen including microwave and dishwasher. I purchased a five-door KitchenAid refrigerator model number KRMF706ESSOO that was delivered 9/23/16. The refrigerators top right-hand door had rust on it & the ice maker did not worked at delivery nor the day after. The ice maker has been replaced 4 times and the water valve 3 times. Today is December 22nd 2016 and after seven attempts of the service techs that Whirlpool sent to make the repairs so that we can have ice we still have no ice. Because the water has always leaking out of the Chute of the ice makers, that they keep replacing and the water valves that they keep replacing wont seal at all where the two grommets are located the water continually leaks out around the grommets and tubes that supply water for drinking and ice for the ice maker. I have to keep towels inside my refrigerator to collect to the water that comes through the vent holes and drips on the shelves inside the refrigerator or choose to turn the water off completely to the refrigerator. Therefore not being able to have filtered water (because of the seriousness of the defects we turned the water off today to the refrigerator). The repairman had to replace the electronic control board on the drawer that has the temperature selection for your meats, cheese, etcetera because the water linkage shorted out the control panel. The water leakage at the top is so heavy that the 4 light panels were fill with water. Today when the technician took the panel off, it took three full-size bath towels to clean up the water mess. My husband and I are exhausted worrying about the refrigerator electrically shorting out.We feel like KitchenAid company is guilty of neglect & have a defective product and unsatisfactory service technicians that they have certified and require you to use. The tech today a new company that repairs refrigerators (not the company that KitchenAid originally schedule the repairs & said that we had to use) told us that there is a manufacturer defect & theres a aftermarket kit that has to be put on this model refrigerator in order for the ice maker to work and make ice and prevent the water from leaking out of the front of the ice maker. First of all they have to put a defrost element on our ice maker!!! Can you believe that? When the tech took the back of the refrigerator off there was solid wall of ice so now we have to have a defroster on the icemaker. Next the temperature has to be below 37 degrees in order for the ice maker to work; therefore, and aftermarket installation add-on kit to keep the cold air inside the refrigerator compartment has to be ordered and installed. The repair technician showed us at the back of the refrigerator where the cold air is leaking out at the back of the refrigerator that we never noticed before or would have considered a manufacture defect and design flaw; we were just dumbfounded at the amount of air leakage out of the refrigerator compartment to the outside of the refrigerator. There should be a class action suit against this FOR PROFIT (in my personal opinion only) driven company that would put their customers /consumers through this. Greed is rampant. Weve spoken with the supervisor at KitchenAid (after not getting any satisfaction from the call center customer complaint center). We were told that KitchenAid makes NO lemons NOR defective products. KitchenAid MAY be in complete denial or must have a phone script that they are required to read from. They voice record every conversation for their benefit. To collect all the facts and then deliver the same tired phrases Were not going to do anything other than to replace parts. The food that I have lost theyre not replacing. The seven or eight days of missed work (that I didnt get paid for) too bad theres no compensation. The time Ive spent complaining taking pictures and documenting the neglect and defects and telling them has been in vain because they keep saying your only option is for us to keep sending repairmen and replacing parts; were sorry youre having a problem.Well if youre sorry make a decent product that people do not have to go through hell after theyve spent a fortune purchasing their brand refrigerator. My money is now in KitchenAid pocket and they refused to replace my lemon refrigerator nor give me customer satisfaction thus far. I will have to keep taking off work and work with repairmen unless I resort to hire an attorney to save myself time and aggravation. Ive asked them to give me a new refrigerator and they wont do it.

Purchased KitchenAid Architect Series II, 5 burner gas freestanding stove with double ovens. Within 5 weeks, the paint started bubbling, cracking and flakes were falling off, this was on the panel where the burner knobs are located. Called and repairman came out and looked at it and called in for instructions on what to do. We were told by him, numerous phone calls to kitchen aide and supervisor, Sorry, the stove is only covered for 30 days for cosmetic problems. Ok, I say, your paint is defective or application was not right. I cannot believe you would not fix this problem, when it is obviously defective. I have had appliances for many, many years and never had paint bubble and come off as this has, especially a brand new appliance. The stove looks horrible, the whole control panel is now gray steel and your company will not fix an obvious problem with your product. I will never and tell others not to buy KitchenAid because you do not stand behind your products that obviously has a problem. I can buy a new control panel for $100 and replace it, but after spending the amount of money that I did for your product, that is another slap in the face.

Purchased VERY EXPENSIVE (built in) side by side refrigerator in 2011. Started having ice maker issues within the year. At this point /050316 repairmen have come at least six (6) times- even replaced icemaker. Repairman said these door models have ALWAYS had problems & should be taken off market. Really makes me angry that I wasnt told about this since my built in is SO MUCH MORE than regular cost of refrigerator! Im about to call for repair AGAIN today! I should have been given a different refrigerator from the beginning and also been paid for new cabinet fronts for different style refrigerator! I try to warn everybody I know about this to prevent someone else being taken as I was! Would NEVER buy another KitchenAid!

We purchased four KitchenAid items for our kitchen to receive a $600 rebate. Our reseller showed us the KitchenAid screen where all items were available for deliver in less than 30 days. This was a condition of our purchase. That was 04/01/2021. They delivered our oven and microwave and dishwasher. They never delivered our refridge nor wine cooler. They now claim end of the year. Our sales rep indicates maybe even later since the manufacturer reps come and go and KitchenAid changes its mind on deliveries. I called them and asked if we could pay a little more and pick them up IN STOCK at Best Buy and still get our $600 rebate. They refused. They are making us wait for an unreliable delivery date. They misrepresented the purchase. I saw the manufactures computer screen that said they would deliver. DO NOT BUY from whirlpool or KitchenAid since they will rob from you and not give you any rebates. In addition, they will not live up to their delivery dates even on their own computer system.

We purchased all KitchenAid appliances when we built our house in May 2010, after being told that they were top-of-the-line. Regarding our refrigerator (model KBFS25EVMS2) with French doors and freezer on the bottom thats been in the house for about 8 months, we noticed that the right side of its doors was not sealing properly. When I contacted the store about this, I was told that this is a typical problem with the French-door models. Should this not be disclosed upfront?! When I contacted KA about this, I was told that my refrigerator was out of warranty (date of purchase, not date installed) and they refused to help in any way.My problem with all this is my old refrigerator (Maytag) had it for 23 years, and I never replaced a door gasket or worked on it in any way. I dont know a door gasket should go bad in less than a year. Now being two years, it is crumbling and falling apart when you open the door. If you buy from KA or an approved service company, the seal is $199. I purchased one on the internet for $99 and replaced it myself. Buyer, beware! KA does not care about the customer, just the dollar! I will never purchase another KA brand or Whirlpool brand ever again, and I will make sure all my friends know about it too.

I, like many of the already listed complaints, purchased a KitchenAid Microwave (Model KHMS155LSS-4) as part of a complete appliance purchase in 2006. I had the same issue last year that others have listed about the unit randomly turning itself on. After contacting Customer Service, they escalated my issue and immediately had it handled by the Safety Department that ordered a new control panel and sent out A & E to repair. The unit seemed to be working fine until this past week when it stopped heating food. Everything seems to run as normal but it no longer heats anything. I contacted Customer Service today and nobody seems to care about the long repair history and lack of quality product they are producing. Im concerned that the current issue is somehow related to the prior issue, but they will not acknowledge that to be the case. It has to be bad on a microwave that runs without anything in it for long periods of time, even though Customer Service says their biggest concern when it runs without anything in it is damage to the inside cook chamber. If I decide to repair this microwave again, it will be the third time this unit has been repaired since I purchased in 2006. I am disappointed with the constant problems I have had with this microwave.

A few days after my dishwasher was installed my contractor noticed that vent [left side facing dishwasher KUDS35FXSS] was wetting inside door of my new cabinet. I contacted Kitchen-Aid. They said I had to contact where I bought it. I called the appliance store & told salesman (Dominic) whats happening. He said hed look into it. After a few days I went to store & asked him what was going on. He said his K-A tech said its probably a bad intake vent. Dominic told me to call the number he gave me to get a serviceman out & just keep the door of my cabinet open when I use DW until tech comes and fixes it. I went home & contacted the service dept. Tech came out. Tech said he felt moist heat coming out from side vent by cabinet. Tech called K-A Tech who told him venting system must be bad for that vent is supposed to takes in air. Tech said he had to order a new vent system & he would be back to install it. Two days before tech came back I opened door of DW & a screw fell on the floor. When tech came to put in new vent system I asked him about screw & he didnt seem surprised. He said it probably came from the insulation. Is that normal? He put new vent system in & left. I put on the dishwasher & about an hour later opened my cabinet & felt the inside of it. It was wet. I called tech again. He came out for the third time. He contacted a Kitchen-Aid Tech who told him to do a diagnostic check. Result is he has to put in a new Control board and dispenser. Now the front light indicator doesnt work. The dishwasher was installed a month and a 1/2 ago and I can only use it with cabinet door open because it is warping my new cabinet and somethings wrong with the dispensers. When youre looking for a dishwasher nothing in the details tells you where vents are. Who would put the vents of a built in dishwasher on side when there is wood cabinets on each side. Now Im stuck with a dishwasher that when used is destroying my cabinet and doesnt take the jet-dry and I have no idea what cycle because light doesnt work. I didnt pay to have a dishwasher re-built I paid for a new working dishwasher. What upsets me also is the appliance store that I purchased it from acts like its not their problem, its the companys. H & H Appliance center is the one who sold it to me, not K-A. I bought a new dishwasher not one that has to be re-built. Please help I dont know what to do. I dont want others to go through something like this. I bought 3 other appliances from him ($4500.00 total) same day I bought dishwasher. I guess I was foolish to think hed make things right. I feel H & H Appliance Center, 909 Rt.130 North, East Windsor,NJ 08520 should hold some of the responsibility. Shouldnt you be able to go back to the person you bought from and expect them to make good? Please help me. This will never end until the warranty is up and they dont have to do anything.

I bought my KitchenAid dishwasher model KDTM354DSS5 from Best Buy on December 10th 2017. I noticed my dishes werent coming out clean and went on a trip to NY. When I got back my floor was covered in water. I called the repair center at Best Buy and they told me the warranty expired on the 10th of December 2018. What the heck - 9 days later and you cant cover it. They sent me to a call center and the lady sold me service plan for $286.00. I called the service provider and they told me I cant use it for 60 days and that they wont cover the repair since it happened prior. Do not buy KitchenAid which is Whirlpool in disguise. I spent over a $1000.00 for a dishwasher that didnt hold up for a year. It is the pump. A very costly repair.

Had dishwasher KUDS30IXSS a little over a year and two small plastic parts on the upper glider both broke after just moderate use. Outside of warranty by a few months and Whirlpool (Kitchenaid) sent their own repairman who said the two parts were $48. Took 10 minutes to replace them and then charged $130 for labor and an additional $85 for the service call. I have never, ever had a service where they charge labor and service charge. Its one or the other (Also, $130 for 10 minutes of labor?). Complained and repairman said its company policy and should take it up with Whirlpool which we are. We recently had our Kitchenaid side by side built-in go out as well, luckily under warranty. Their products and service have gone steadily downhill year after year. We were loyal customers at one time but no longer. Check all the reviews out there on any appliances you are considering before you buy another Kitchenaid.

I want to join in the conversation about NOT BUYING a KitchenAid refrigerator. Same problems as others. First water all over the floor from broken/backed up line. Now refrigerator completely stopped working. Service just left after stating that the main control board is fried. The servicer said he wouldnt even touch it until I spoke with KitchenAid because they no longer make the part and they will have to decide what will be done. Immediately called KitchenAid and was told they would have to file a claim and then decide what will be done. Its Tuesday. I have had no refrigeration since Friday and now I hear horror stories about the complete lack of response from manufacturer. Never Never Never buy a KitchenAid. I cant believe I did.

Bought Kitchenaid Model #KUDE40FXSS5 in 2012. Within first year the top rack fell off the runners and had to be replaced. As that was under warranty Kitchenaid sent repair kit, but we had to install it. March 30, 2017 I started cycle. Within minutes water was pooling in front of the dishwasher. Turned off cycle. Drained water from dishwasher and called repairman. He knew immediately what the cause of leak was as he had seen it often. The ring that connects and tightens a water hose to the pump was not tight enough. The original ring could not be tightened as it was installed at the tightest possible connection allowed by that plastic ring. He replaced with a Bosch metal screw tightening ring. Called Kitchenaid and they refused to help with payment for repair. This machine cost $1200 new. This is inexcusable and I will never recommend this product.

New appliance in Feb. 2017 has not worked since plugged. Have scheduled tech, out 2 times and no show. Finally in May someone showed up and he could not repair it and need to order parts. Parts arrived and installed and fridge still not working and water pouring out of the door. Week later another tech showed up and said he knew exactly what was wrong. He orders parts or so I thought. 3 weeks later now June 12, 2017 and still no part. Called their tech repair and they did not know when the part would be in. I doubt they even ordered the part. Called Whirlpool again. Their people did not know when the part would be in??? So I insisted to know where they ordered the part or how to call them about the part. Finally they gave me the parts dealer. Still no part may have to locate myself. Dont buy Kitchenaid warranty. Worthless. I have a 5 year warranty may have to use as toilet paper. Purchased from Metro Builders and they have completely washed their hands of the matter. Now if I purchase a new car and drove it off the lot and the engine fell out who is going to fix it or do I drive it to Detroit for repairs. My check is made out to Metro Builders. NO ONE IS STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS. GIVES A WHOLE NEW MEANING TO AMERICAN MADE. THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED. They have no honor any longer $$$.

The KSSC48QTS00 refrigerator I put into service in Dec. 2007 failed Aug. 3, 2015. I am having the same experience with KitchenAid as many others. The circuit boards controlling the refrigerator failed due to an overheating problem brought on due to a design flaw of the compressor housing on top of the unit not being large enough to adequately have proper air flow which caused the circuit boards to overheat and fail. Like the rest of you, I too was told the of plant being destroyed making the parts unavailable to fix the problem. They are now available at the consumers expense because of the warranty expiring. That seems reasonable until I find that the failure was caused by the enclosure being too inadequate to handle the heat load generated by the compressor and motor. I was told that their authorized service technicians have been trained on how to modify the upper enclosure to add more air flow to the newly designed circuit boards to keep them from overheating. I was told that the new board will carry a one year warranty. That seems reasonable, except that if they fail due to heat not being dissipated properly that I would again be responsible for any parts and labor to fix the unit.If a product has to be redesigned for the new parts to work properly, that the expense of the modification should be borne by the company that initially designed the product, not the consumer. I tried in vain to relay this to them. All I got was that it is out of warranty. The consumer is responsible for the parts, labor, and any other expenses associated with the repair. They do though say that they are sorry for our inconvenience and that we have a good day, and thank you for choosing KitchenAid.

Installed 2003. There is something defective about this VERY expensive refrigerator. It builds up ice on the back refrigerator wall rendering 2 bins useless since it freezes the fresh food. If I turn down the freezer temperature down, ice cream turns to mush, so that is not an option. I have contacted KitchenAid over this situation years ago and all they do is send out a contracted appliance company to troubleshoot. You are responsible for paying for the troubleshoot and since I am not on warranty, I must pay for repairs. After the appliance company charges exorbitant fees, they say it is a bad baffle, and a new one is installed. I have done this 2x now, and the problem is still there. I am living with the ice build up as replacing these built ins costs almost $10,000. I wish I had paid more at the time for a Subzero. I had one for 20 years and NEVER a problem.

My built-in microwave (KBMS1454SSS) stopped working properly while still under warranty. On advice from the KitchenAid customer service department, I took the microwave to the local factory authorized service center where I spent $234.85. I took the microwave back home and reinstalled it, but it still didnt work. I took it back to the local factory authorized service center and, after eight days, he told me there was nothing more he could do.I called the KitchenAid customer service department again, and they said my only option was to get a second opinion which, of course, I had to pay for. They sent A&E factory Service to my house ($128 for a service call) and the technician ordered a part, came out two weeks later to install it, and that part did not fix the problem. After six visits (each of which I had to take off work and wait at my home for the repairman), the technician finally deemed my microwave unrepairable. He put that in writing and instructed me to contact KitchenAid for a replacement unit. One month, twenty phone calls, numerous promises of call-backs, and several supervisors later, KitchenAid offered to replace my microwave (they called it a pro-rated exchange) for $990. I explained that I had already spent $400 to repair the $1100 unit that I had, and that an additional $990 hardly seemed fair to replace a high-end unit that did not work. They agreed to drop the pro-rated exchange price to $468. I told them that us unacceptable and they said, Were sorry, thats all we are prepared to do.This is a very attractive unit and I thought I was getting the best when I bought KitchenAid, but after this five month-long process of trying to get my problem solved, I could not be more dissatisfied with the KitchenAid customer service department.

I, like all the others had the same issue with the water leak. Purchased the extended warranty (thank God), had the service company out, they removed the rubber stopper and we were done, SO I THOUGHT. Have had 2 other repair companies out due to the rising temp, frost, food freezing in the refrigeration area, and the compressor running for periods of up to 4 hours continuously. Was told there was a part that should have been put in when the Rubber Stopper was removed. O.K., replaced that part, problem fixed... NO, and told that it is normal for the Compressor to run up to 80% of the day! Have called Lowes yet again due to the compressor running all day, and an electric bill that has jumped from an average of 125.00 to over 200.00 due to this refrigerator. Keep being told by Lowes that they will submit to their Review Board for replacement, but doubt that anything will come of that. I should have listened to my sister, and stayed away from KitchenAid appliances, when she told me 10 years ago that they were junk. I echo what others have posted about Kitchenaids KFIS29 french door refrigerator - a total disappointment, buyers remorse, and Whirlpool must spend a lot of time and money making sure the people who answer the phone at their Customer experience Center are extremely polite while offering no solutions. From date of installation, Aug. 2013, the fridge never kept beverages and food in the upper unit cold, regardless of temp setting, the freezer simply could not keep items frozen, and the unit is loud. I chalked this off to the ill effects of being energy efficient. In the summer of 2014 I placed my first service call because the ice maker stopped making ice (never made much to begin with), the already high noise levels had increased, and the upper unit would not get below 43 degrees. When the repairman arrived, there was nothing I could tell him about the unit that he was not already very aware of. I was told I needed the kit and naturally the kit had to be ordered and I was told I had to call a special number at Whirlpool and order the kit. What an ordeal that was. In the mean time, the fridge started making a very loud sound like an impact hammer. Repairman can back out and found a huge amount of ice build up on the evaporator. The fan blades were hitting the ice causing the noise. Ice removed, problem solved, at least for a while. A few days later the the freezer was frosting up so another call to the repairman. The freezer door gasket was faulty and had to be corrected. Finally, the parts needed to fix the ice maker situation arrived. The kit was to correct the issue with low ice production, frost build up between ice maker and rear of the fridge, and to correct the problem with water dripping down and onto the evaporator coils and freezing. The control panel and a couple of other parts were also replaced. All good? Not exactly. The fridge still was not cooling, water was leaking from ice bin, and the noise level was still very high. Trying to get this thing fixed within warranty period, I call for service once again. The repairman and Whirlpool tech center ran tests and determined I needed a new evaporator and several other parts related to the cooling system. I called the Customer experience Center and requested a new unit. I was politely told that I had not had enough problems to warrant a replacement and that as long as the unit was + or - 5 degrees of the recommended temp settings (37 upper / 0 freezer) it was considered acceptable. Do not know about you but 43 or higher degree milk is not good and ice cream is suppose to melt after you take it out of the freezer. I was told by a Supervisor that since I had experienced some problems with the unit they would extend my factory warranty for six months. I was told if the parts on order did not correct the issues we could talk about a replacement then. OK, all the parts came in and were installed. Things appeared to be good for about two months except for the fact that around 37 degrees is as cold as the upper unit appears to be able to do, 34 would be my preference. In mid Oct 2014 I noticed low ice production, the noise level increasing, water dripping from the ice bin again, and there is frost building up again between the ice maker and back of the fridge again. I called the Customer experience Center to discuss replacement. I was told that since it had been more than 30 days since the repairs I would have to have a repairmen come out and and get on a call with tech support and diagnose the problem and oh, by the way, the unit is no longer under factory warranty. I advised that I had been told and assured that my factory warranty had been extended for 6 months. I was basically told that I was not told that and it would be impossible for that to occur. When I provided the name and date that I was told the warranty was extended I was told there was no one there by that name. It should be noted that only two people live in the house and thus it is not like the fridge is in a constant state of opening and closing and so on. To sum up, I have had to take off work 7 times for the fridge to be looked at and actual repairs to be made. I have absolutely no confidence that any further repairs will produce long lasting results. Looking at the dates of comments about the KFIS29, it appears no changes have been made to the fridge since people are reporting the same problems on units recently purchased as people who purchased them a year or more ago have experienced. If you are looking for a french door fridge you might want to not have this one on your short list.

We bought a brand new KitchenAid refrigerator in April 2006 ($4300) and the main control board went out and they do not make the replacement part. We have been without a refrigerator for 3 weeks and still have no idea when we will have it fixed. The repair company says they have to find a circuit board to have it overhauled. It is unbelievable that Kitchenaid stopped making a major part that control the entire refrigerator.

I used the self-cleaning cycle for the first time on my KitchenAid (Model: YKESS970) electric range which cost me over $2,500. The oven is now a year and a half old and completely finished. The door is locked and the display panel is not working at all. I called KitchenAid and they said that the parts might be still under warranty but we have to pay the labor of $81 just for them to show up, plus $19 every 15 minutes (the first 15 minutes are free). Wow!

2 months past a 2 year warranty and my back burner knob is stuck in locked position. When contacting customer service they had the audacity to tell me that there has been no reports of this type of thing ever happening, and if its not a burner problem the service repair and parts to fix the problem that shouldnt be happening in the first place is at my expense. Only the burner and control panel is covered for 5 years. The odd part about this is, this burner is barely ever used and has the least amount of wear and tear. This is clearly a manufacturing flaw and I made sure that the customer service representative knew that many people are having the same problem and is reporting it online and I fail to believe their claim that this has not been reported to them ever!!! Just because they refuse to document it doesnt change the fact that it is a known issue. I have not had the unfortunate experience of the glass breaking as others reported as of yet. But now that I know about it, I feel sick to my stomach. This was supposed to be my dream stove and really thought I was getting that stove with a KitchenAid product. As far as customer service, they sucked and lied to me about this issue and refused to acknowledge that the problem even exists. I think I will turn to Canada companies for my next dream stove who still care about product quality in the future. Not looking forward to all the upcoming difficulties as my stove succumbs to all the reported poor manufacturing design flaws. I feel sad and duped into buying a Whirlpool product that I hated from past ownership due to poor quality control and design flaws. Then finding out, Whirlpool is using the KitchenAid reputation of the past to sell inferior products that they know full well, will never live up to the superior products of KitchenAid.

We have a 42 KitchenAid refrigerator and have had the Tech out 3 times for repair. We were told by the technician that the fan motor had shorted out and caused the main control board and another fan to go out. So 748.00 dollars later, we still have no refrigerator working and this is after the Tech removed the board and the fans and said the board is not being made and so it has to be sent out and rebuilt...should be 2 weeks. They would ship the product to us and then we call them and set up another appointment. When the 3 items came couple of weeks later, the one fan that was a heavy metal blade is now being replaced with a thin...black plastic one. Note: when Tech opened the box, the fan was broken…one blade completely broken off and 2 other blades were cracked…Now mind you, a kid’s plastic toy can be thrown, dropped, kick and abused by the kids and not break, but this fan got all this damage just being shipped to us and this is supposed to run and operate my 9000.00 refrigerator?? The Tech said, “Well they changed to plastic because it is lighter. Are you kidding me? Lighter? Are we going to carry this refrigerator around? No, it’s cheaper...and also a piece of junk...not even a heavy plastic. If it cant survive shipping, I have to wonder how it will run my refrigerator. Now the Tech puts all the parts in and tells us that will be 748.00+ and also we can buy a warranty to protect us from other repairs for 210.00…Did it and he left. 3 hours later, I decided to check it to see if I could start putting my foods in and if it was cold enough...Not working...flashing lights on the panel...from 60 to 30 and no ice maker working either. I called them back ASAP...they said we will make another appointment for you...Are you kidding? Send back the Tech. After much discussion with the service people, they came back 4 days later...Tech says board is no good...has to be sent back to where it was re-built and he (Tech) spends most of the time on the phone with someone...telling him what to do (I guess). He states he has been with the company for 31 years but both times he is on the phone with someone most of the time. So now we are supposed to get the board back in a couple of weeks...and then call them again to have it installed. Meanwhile, they have received 748.00 plus 210.00 for the service warranty and I have nothing...no refrigerator for over a month. This is unreal…like the product does not have enough problems...they change out the metal parts for these thin piece of crap plastic and control boards being shipped out to the customer without being tested to see if they were rebuilt right before they send it out to be installed. So I lose all our food and pay for a rental fridge while this mess is still going on...Service and Quality...RIGHT...I dont think these Techs know what they are doing or why would they need to spend most of the time on the phone with whomever it is they are having walk them through this service...

I purchased a stainless steel KitchenAid dishwasher from Lowes a few years ago to replace my 14-year-old perfect Whirlpool. The KitchenAid worked well for awhile, but suddenly the entire inside tub had a film on it, and now every glass, every utensil, every plate, etc., has a white film all over. I have tried everything - changing detergents, washing every dish thoroughly before loading into dishwasher, etc. Nothing has worked. I cant even clean the film off once it is on. After reading the reviews on this site, I feel like calling KitchenAid will only frustrate and upset me. This dishwasher was expensive and it is a huge disappointment. I would advise anyone to look at other brands first.

After 2 years my KitchenAid Dishwasher model #KUDC10IXBL2 needed a new circuit board replacement. We had an extended service contract - great you would think, but not so. After replacement, we had water leaking from the dishwasher. Now my hardwood floors are lifting and I have bowls under the door to catch leaking water. This is after numerous repairs of the gasket. KitchenAid does not take responsibility for damage done to your personal property. KitchenAid also contracts with a repair company called A&E. A&E gives you a time frame for repair between 8 am and 5 pm, so to say the least we have lost out on vacation time as we need to take a day off for repair. Each time the repair guy comes additional damage is done - most times they forget to have ordered the necessary parts, so need to reschedule to come back out. This last time I phone KitchenAid who told me the service guy could deem the appliance a lemon, however the service guy told us they would not allow him to do this. A&E has put into repairs on this dishwasher over $800 and we paid $535 for the item. Last week A&E came out again, it ran well before they left. The next day I went to run the dishwasher and bolts popped off and the unit gushed water. Seriously! My recommendation would be research your product well, not purchase a service contract through KitchenAID and ask if the service repair company contracted with is A&E. Bad experience and the poorest customer service ever!

I have had KitchenAid dishwasher for a few years. I have not been, and am not happy with this product. We have had trouble with it almost constantly. The control panel has been replaced more than once, we have had to replace several parts on it, and the general service I have had from it is not satisfactory. Now the heating element is not working. We paid a lot for this appliance thinking we would get excellent service because of the KitchenAid reputation. This unit has been pulled out and apart and repaired more than I think is acceptable. When this unit gets replaced, I am thinking I will be going to another brand. It is aggravating to open this unit and find it has not drained, the dishes are not dry, or some other problem has become obvious. Perhaps a lot of people like this dishwasher, but I for one do not.

Obviously, I am extremely dissatisfied with this refrigerator to take time to write a review. I dont even know where to start to list the problems weve had. Repairs have been time-consuming and costly. One repair to replace almost all of the working innards was 4 hours of labor. At least Whirpool covered the parts ($1500) and labor ($700) but only covered the labor after I called customer service and complained. Other problems include the metal strips on drawers discoloring and peeling after only 2 years, plastic vegetable drawers breaking and needing replacing at $100 each (out of pocket). The protective kick panel is broken and wont re-attach so bottom wires sticking out. The fridge and freezer doors are permanently misaligned and dont line up at top and one door protrudes at bottom. Technician says cant be fixed. Husband has tried to fix using instructions in booklet with no luck. Ice maker stopped working. Fridge occasionally leaks large amount of water into kitchen. Technician cant seem to fix problem. It is absolutely the worst appliance I have ever owned. Im 63. Its a total of piece of junk.

Bought a great looking KitchenAid oven last year, but it has an unusual malfunction of blowing hot air from the oven into the kitchen for extended periods of time while the oven is on, and most annoyingly, after the oven is turned off. It heats up the kitchen so much it is uncomfortable to be in there while cooking anything in the oven.Just now, we turned off the oven more than an hour ago, and incredibly, the fan in the oven suddenly turned on and for about five minute spewed more hot air into our kitchen. This is a major malfunction. Previously contacted KitchenAid, but the phone operator could not help and thought this was normal. This cannot possibly be normal. It probably heats up the kitchen by 10 to 15 degrees, which is a killer. DO NOT BUY THIS STOVE/OVEN.

Bought the Kitchen Aid Dishwasher Model KUD301XSS9 in July 2013. 13 months later, like many of these other reviews, had to replace the plastic tabs on the top rack on both sides. Of course, they were on back order (apparently a lot of replacements of those parts on the top rack). I went ahead and ordered two sets for each side, anticipating this will happen in another 12 months or so. The plastic does not appear to be able to stand up to the high temperatures generated by this dishwasher. Had I known that Kitchen Aid was owned by Whirlpool, who also owns Maytag, which, in my opinion, is absolutely the WORST appliance manufacturer since the beginning of time, I would not have bought one. The old slogan from the 1980s about the Maytag Repairman being lonely would not be applicable today... Apparently neither would the Kitchen Aid Dishwasher repairman. Heading over to GE the next time, at least They Bring Good Things to Life, and one of those Good Things will be in the form of a better dishwasher to my home. Now this model is not all bad. The good thing about this model is the same thing that probably cause the problem to begin with... it does dry very good. What KA needs to understand is no consumer wants to be replacing ANY part after only 13 months of service. From reading the reviews, I am not totally convinced they are able to grasp that concept.

I bought a KSCS25INS00 side by side and in its 3rd year of operation, the center wall between the fridge and the freezer started getting too hot to touch. When I bought the fridge from Sears, it stayed in their warehouse for one and half year (paid for) due to some family issue and therefore, when the problem happened, I was told it’s out of warranty. A technician checked it out and claimed the control board is bad. To my surprise, some time later, I was told KitchenAid does not sell this part anymore and I have to send it to some rebuilder for the tune of almost $500.00 plus shipping and of course, labor (about $875.00). I don’t think this a fair deal, to spend nearly $3000.00 for a fridge (I figured buying high end appliance will have fewer problems). That’s not bad enough. I had bought a stove and a dishwasher as well. The stove shows an error message and I have to pull it out and disconnect and reconnect every so often. The dishwasher had broken basket pieces and broken door spring line and roller. Now Im in the hell of a mess. Do I spend $800-900 fixing what I have or spend $1200.00 to buy another piece of junk to replace my HIGH END KitchenAid?

I purchased this dishwasher after reading reviews of lower priced units that were rated as cleaning as good as a KitchenAid. I have owned at least a half dozen dishwashers in the last 35 years and this is the ABSOLUTE WORST I have ever used. It is quiet, it is good looking, but it can spread dirt where none existed before. I have tried everything and to get clean dishes it must be set to MAX and HALF loaded to get your half dirty dishes clean, AND thats only if you remember not to put anything at the corners of the trays and they will come out clean and WET! The vent is so small on these units it is nearly impossible for the vapour to escape. This unit original price was $1,999 and it doesnt work 1/2 as good as a $350 Kenmore. Dont waste your money on this model KDTE704DSS0.

We have a (just barely) 3 year old KitchenAid refrigerator/freezer that has been very troublesome. First the ice maker was replaced; then the entire front door of the freezer had to be replaced because it had NO insulation; and now the top shelf in the freezer just exploded as I opened the door. There were only 4 small items on the exploding shelf so it was not too full. When I call the customer service number I waited over 20 minutes to speak with a real person who took down info and then transferred me to another person for whom I had to wait another 10 minutes. I explained that it was like a shot -- a boom sound and then tons of small pieces of tempered glass all over me, my kitchen, and into the adjoining office area next to the kitchen. KitchenAid response was that these things can happen -- seriously??? Waiting to receive a replacement shelf and waiting for a supervisor with customer relations skills to call me back.

Pretty much everything was covered, ad nauseam, in this blog. New house, new appliances - the repairman was here three times because our $7,000 SXS KitchenAid fridge/freezer (Model: Kss048FTX03) was not cooling. The repairman said the first time he was here that he installed the part that would solve the problem. Well, he will be back in 4-5 days with another part. It seems that the wall between the fridge and the freezer builds up ice that prevents cooling in the refrigerator. At least, that is what I am told. I was also told that he is very frequently called out to repair this issue.I mainly bought this product because we wanted to install custom door overlays to match our cabinets and a large unit. Not a lot is available in Hawaii and we were able to order this from Lowes. We are so sorry we did. Im glad that I purchased extended warranties on all appliances and am real glad that only two of them are KitchenAid! We, too, have lost all our food twice, not to mention the hassle of removing everything together with the thaw out and order process for parts. Should we have a class action here? We shall see. Im glad I found this site. My husband is a litigation lawyer with just such experience, so I may be back in touch with everyone when the next repair fails!

I had my oven in the medium setting to clean, but was not in the kitchen at the moment when we heard a very loud noise that sounded like an explosion. Immediately thereafter, shattered glass was falling out everywhere it could come out of. Very frightening moment. Called KichenAid in the morning and explained everything. They will send someone out tomorrow and assess the situation. We just moved into this place six weeks ago. The day we moved here, the freezer was leaking and formed a sheet of ice on the bottom drawer. Here I was offered to buy one year of warranty and paid $320.00 for it. All appliances are KiitchenAid and were installed in September 2011. They are like new. I, of course, have no warranty on these appliances and think this is absolutely crazy that after short time for such expensive appliances, these things happen. I will report on how this explosion will be taken care of tomorrow!

Like many other reviewers, we purchased high end KitchenAid appliances base on reputation. The steaming sensor was the only thing that ever impressed me. The fan never did much except make a lot of noise and the unit seemed underpowered compared to every other 1200 watt unit Ive owned. At just over 2 years old (and just after the warranty expired) we started getting error messages directing us to open/close the door. That resolved nothing. I unplugged it and fiddled with different buttons and controls, got it to limp along for a few months. Then the appliance went black. The local appliance technician says its a design flaw. The heat from the cooktop overheats the electronics that are in the door directly above burners. Most microwaves have controls in a side panel. $900 wasted.

We recently bought a kitchen full of appliances and have already had the double wall ovens replaced (after less than a year) and the ice maker in the refrigerator has NEVER worked properly. Kitchen Aid is a pro at disassociating themselves with resolving the problem. I have now had service on my refrigerator 4 times, replaced the ice maker only to have it still dispensing crushed ice I have neither selected or wanted. This time, they kept me on the phone for over an hour (really) as they passed me from person to person only to schedule service but not tell me that they did. Each time they come out, it will generate yet another visit if they need to order a part. AT WHAT POINT WILL YOU TAKE THIS APPLIANCE OUT OF MY HOUSE! I foolishly purchased the extended warranty for all my appliances - well this only lets the manufacturer off the hook because they push everything off to the extended plan that I paid for even if the problem occurred under the original warranty! A five-year warranty was taken on my KitchenAid fridge. I called after 2 weeks of the delivery, and said that the lower box has a crack. They said they only accept claims of such when reported in 24-48 hours. I had moved to a brand new house; upon appliance delivery we went back to Markham and finally after all furniture was here, with small kids, we planned to stay, so I saw the crack then. After 3-4 days, I called cracks on the wall. They said no worries, that its cosmetic, and no heat or air is going out. Wow! A big expensive brand says that - its sad. Im a commercial dishwasher repairman. My 10-month old dishwasher failed, dead, no lights, nothing. I checked the power and performed troubleshooting steps, determined the problem was a bad control board. I called the folks who sold it to me. They did not have a control board in stock. I asked that they bring a board with them so they could fix it with one visit. They said no, they could not be sure the board was the problem. I was going to have to wait 5 days (including Saturday & Sunday) for them to show up between 1 and 4, and then have to go through another wait until they were able to get the part. I am not very fond of washing dishes by hand, so I called around and found a parts place that could have the part by the next day (Saturday). The part came in and I installed the part, which fixed the problem. I called the dealer and canceled the service call and asked if it was possible to get any credit on the part. They said no, but I could call KitchenAid. I called KitchenAid this morning. No luck, it did not matter that Id saved them two service calls. It did not matter that I had taken the risk for the cost of the part if my diagnosis had been incorrect (with electronic parts, once the box is open, you own it). After speaking with Shari and David (a supervisor), KitchenAids policy is inflexible. If a customer touches it, they dont warranty it. In addition, they refused to send someone out to inspect my work or to confirm the board was bad. Im very disappointed! Heck, if they had offered to split the cost of the part or even to give me credit towards my next KitchenAid Appliance, Id have been thrilled. Instead, I was left with a bitter taste in my mouth.

We purchased this KitchenAid refrigerator as part of an appliance package for a new home. We did not want the high-end option, so we were offered this package as an balance between cost and performance. We installed this refrigerator, a KitchenAid microwave, a KitchenAid cooktop and a KitchenAid dishwasher. Of all the four, the refrigerator is the worst. It broke down immediately after the 1-year warranty period ended. I had KitchenAid service people here on three occasions and they changed every computer component (board) in the machine. Each time, the machine would work well for a little while and then it would gradually degrade in performance. Right now, it is not cooling properly and not making ice. The gasket around the freezer is falling off so the freezer door will not close correctly, but the computer does not detect this as an open door for purposes of the alarm. At first, I was pleased to see the America sticker in the door - now I really dont care where my next refrigerator is made as long as it performs better than this very expensive paperweight.

We own two model number KESA907PSS KitchenAid stove/ranges. We have replaced two control panels due to boilovers on the range - spills or boilovers run down into the electronic control panel and short it out, making the oven features unusable. We were able to turn on the oven, but we would have to turn off our breaker to turn the oven off. KitchenAid would replace the part while under warranty, but they would not pay for the service call. Service calls were provided at over market prices of $90 per call. It was easier just to call an independent. Additionally, the knobs on the front of the stove push in and turn on if you barely bump or lean against them. We have accidentally burned/melted items that were on the burner. This is a huge liability for Kitchen Aid I would think. We try to make sure nothing is ever left on our stove top and we check our stoves before we leave our home for fear that someone may have accidentally leaned against the knobs and turned the stove on. Very scary! I will never purchase a major appliance from KitchenAid again. I have smaller appliances for KitchenAid that I have not had problems with.

I purchase a KitchenAid refrigerator (20.0 cu ft counter-depth) from Sears 12/20/14 ($1979.99). I purchased a 5-year warranty package from KitchenAid too. Six months later I found a big puddle of water on the kitchen floor coming from the freezer compartment. I called KitchenAid and when the woman asked me what was going on in the freezer (I told her frost was forming in the ice compartment); she told me that it was warranted under the first year and gave me a number of a company (Calif. Appliance Tech) to call. They came out on July 8, 2015 and told me the problem was the gasket on the left side hadnt been properly sealed and was letting air in. They left and a few days later someone from CAT called to tell me the part was ordered and it should arrive in 6 weeks. It never arrived. When I spoke to John on 9/18, he insinuated that I can still use the freezer which is not so. He told the part (freezer) has to be manufactured and I have to be patient as there is a long back order! In the meantime, CAT closed the case and it had to be re-opened when I called back on October 16th.What does this say about the crappy product? The freezer is completely frozen shut so I cannot open the door and have to make numerous trips to the market as I cant use the freezer. I went back to Sears in Santa Monica and told their customers in the appliance area not to purchase any product with KitchenAid in the name. I was very vocal to the shoppers about the horrible experience with them (Whirlpool owns them). I then spoke to John at Sears who took me to their computer and looked up the part KitchenAid told me had to be manufactured and the part is readily available.I am so angry with KitchenAid. They are liars! John at Sears told me the part with gasket could be purchased thru them but it will terminate my warranty and would cost me up to $1,000 to replace. I paid an additional $266 for the 5-year warranty. I am ready to throw in the bucket, call Goodwill to haul it away and purchase a product that doesnt have KitchenAid or Whirlpool in its name. John told me that had I purchased the Sears warranty this wouldnt have happened. How can KitchenAid get away with not providing the warranty they tell us we have? My last call was to Josh on 10/16/15 and was again told the part would arrive in 6-8 weeks.

The last reviewer commented Shame on the salesperson for selling a product with known problems. However, lets put the blame squarely where it belongs - KitchenAid! When my oven failed 2 days ago after using the self clean, I thought I would contact them to see if they really do have as poor of customer service as Ive read about. Yes, indeed they do have about the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They completely fail to acknowledge the very frequent problem that their ovens fail after using the self-clean. Its all over the internet with so many documented cases, yet KitchenAid calls it an occasional failure of man made components. A clear design flaw which they refuse to acknowledge. Do not buy a Kitchen-Aid appliance!

This dishwasher was brought 9/24/24 and installed in November. We have replace the motherboard and the latch and the dishwasher still doesnt work. I thought KitchenAid was a good dishwasher and have heard KitchenAid over the years. This dishwasher is one of the top of the line. I will not ever buy another KitchenAid product and will not recommend this dishwasher or the brand to anyone.

We remodeled our kitchen in Aug. 2018 and bought matching, higher-end KitchenAid appliances to replace all the old ones. Nine months after installation, the upper rack in the dishwasher (Model #KDTE334GPS0) collapsed due to failed spot welds on the left-side rail. The welded areas were also very rusty. Luckily, the 1-year warranty had not expired yet and we were able to get the part replaced for free. But today the same top rack rail broke again due to the same failed spot welds! The weld sites are covered with rust again, just like before. Since the dishwashers warranty has expired, we will have to order the replacement part and fix it ourselves (for $44 with shipping) or hire an appliance repairman (not cheap). Ive had much less expensive dishwashers that lasted 15 years with no problems, including rails that that never broke. I would never waste my money on an overpriced KitchenAid appliance again. Maybe they should stick to stand mixers (mine is still working after 27 years).

I bought a brand new KitchenAid dishwasher less than two years ago and have been extremely unhappy with it! Model #KDTE334DSSO. My 17 year old dishwasher cleaned the dishes better than this one. I used to use environmentally friendly dishwasher soap but had to go to a heavy strength brand now. The plates fall down in the dishwasher (I recommend taking plates and trying them before you purchase any dishwasher) and now I have all of these little rust looking spots all over the front - which naturally is not covered under the extended warranty!! Terrible appliance!!!

Mod KUDS30FXSS9 SER F31602990 - On Dec 31 at about 11.45 PM I was awaken with smoke coming out of my KitchenAid dishwasher door! Wires inside the door had shorted out and melt together. Fumes from this make my wife very sick for days! I have photo of inside the door if you like to see them. NEVER turn on a dishwasher on and go to bed! You might never wake up!

Purchased a wall oven model KEBS109BSS October 2013. Oven completely shut down during cooking, couldnt turn it on, nothing. Had service tech out September 2016 and paid to have it fixed (out of warranty). Same issue again March 2017. Tech out again, had to pay again to have it fixed. Last Saturday, same issue. Have contacted KitchenAid, they wont do anything to rectify the situation because its 4 years old, not cover issue under warranty. I pushed the issue, talked to a manager. They were rude and wouldnt budge. Had the nerve to tell me that it is man-made and parts do fail. Are you kidding me?! Over $2,000 piece of junk that Ive already put $400 into. NOTE: BEWARE - KITCHENAID APPARENTLY EXPECTS THEIR MAJOR APPLIANCES TO LAST 3-4 YEARS.

The stove is only two years and old and when the self-cleaning cycle was run for the first time. The thermostat burned out mid-cycle and the unit shut down and the door was locked. The repair cost $213.45. Based on what I have seen online, this is a common problem with KitchenAid stoves. Since it was no longer under warranty, they wouldnt cover the cost. This appliance should be recalled!

We were newly married and wanted appliances that would last for our new family. I had always thought that KitchenAid was top of the line and it would be worth the money. Boy was I wrong! We completely furnished our house with stainless KitchenAid appliances and had problems with the fridge before we made our first payment. The Homecenter said they that they would get it fixed but before they got there to fix the fridge, the range quit working. They sent a service tech that I swear served me my Big Mac at McDonalds the day before. He worked on the appliances and damaged one in the meantime but denied it. The fridge continued to leak water and the dishwasher then also started to leak and get much louder with every wash. They brought me a new fridge that leaked worse than the one before so we resorted to just shutting the water off to the fridge. These problems persisted with the three appliances and I should have been more persistent but I was trying to be nice. As soon as my 1 year warranty was up, the store would no longer talk to me and since then, our microwave starts and runs on its own (fire hazard). The only way to shut it down is to unplug it. The Homecenter and KitchenAid dont care about the consumer or there safety. We have put many calls in with no success. We have started to replace appliances with cheap China made ones that work great as we get the KitchenAid ones paid off. What really bites is we have to pay to get rid of the KitchenAid ones. So the best I can do is to advertise against KitchenAid as often as I can.

We purchased a KitchenAid Superba Architect Series double oven (model # KEBC208KSS02) in 2003 for our new-built home. After using the self-cleaning oven, the display of the oven went completely out and the oven doors were locked. We had the oven repaired (we had to replace the motherboard which was over $800 once the repairs were completed) and 3 months later we had the mother board go out again. We were then told the board was only under warranty for 90 days (we were just out of warranty on the board) and that we would have to purchase another board. This is absolutely unacceptable.I have read so many forums and complaints online about this same problem and am disgusted that KitchenAid has not done anything about this. When we phoned KitchenAid about this problem to file a complaint, they would not do anything about it.

We have had this dishwasher (KDFE204E) for less than a year. Within five months the dishwasher motor went out. The company was prompt and came out and replaced the motor. However now with the new motor, the dishwasher will not dry anything (not even regular dishes and pot and pans) and leaves soap residue on everything. The dishes seldom get clean, even with the soap residue left behind. I cannot recommend this company/product to anyone. Their newest solution with our appliance being only eight months old... use rinse aid or well be charged for a service call.

We had a complete kitchen remodel and after 3 months, I noticed that there were spots of rust on the finish of the dishwasher and refrigerator. I called the company only to have them appease me by sending me a stainless steel cleaner. Needless to say, no cleaner is going to take the spots away. This is a design flaw and has been noted in several blogs that tiny specks of rust have been found on KitchenAid products due to the brushes used in manufacturing the products. What do I do now?

I waited over 2 months for a new KitchenAid refrigerator. When it was installed, the veggie bin and meat bin (the 2 bins at the bottom) had dents in them. The very bottom bin was also skewed when inserted. I called the company I purchased the refrigerator from and they shipped me replacement bins. Upon installing the replacement bins, I again noticed the bottom bin was skewed. I took it out and discovered that a air movement component was affixed behind the bin was not properly installed. This poor installation prevented the bottom bin from going in straight. A week after the refrigerator was installed the water on the door stopped working. I am convinced this refrigerator is a lemon. It is being replaced at no cost to me. I am Very disappointed with KitchenAid.
