LG Appliance Repair
LG appliances are built around the way you live. Whether your style is modern or traditional, our appliances’ innovative and intuitive resource-saving solutions are there to make life easier in your kitchen and your laundry room.
Dishwasher Repair
For the home, kitchen and beyond, LG manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of LG appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.
LG Dishwasher not cleaning
Water Inlet Valve. The water inlet valve opens to allow water to enter the dishwasher. If the valve is clogged or defective, the dishwasher won’t get enough water to clean dishes properly. If the water inlet valve is clogged, replace it. Do not attempt to clean the water inlet valve—cleaning the valve could make it more likely to fail.
LG Dishwasher not draining
Drain Impeller. The drain impeller pushes water through the drain hose and into the garbage disposer or drain line. If the impeller is broken, replace it.
LG Dishwasher buttons not working
Touchpad. First, confirm that the dishwasher display is working. If the display is still working, try pressing some of the touchpad buttons. If some of the buttons respond correctly but others don’t, it is likely that the touchpad is at fault. (Some manufacturers sell the touchpad separately from the control panel. Other manufacturers require that you purchase the touchpad and control panel together. If you cannot replace the touchpad individually, replace the touchpad and control panel.)
LG Dishwasher lights flashing or blinking
Heating Element. The heating element heats up the water to operating temperature. If the water doesn’t reach the proper temperature after a set amount of time, a light on the control panel might start flashing. To determine if the heating element has burned out, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the heating element does not have continuity, replace it.
LG Dishwasher leaking
Water Inlet Valve. The water inlet valve opens to allow water to enter the dishwasher. If the water inlet valve is stuck open, the dishwasher will continue to fill with water until the dishwasher leaks or overflows. If the water inlet valve is at fault, replace it. Water inlet valves are not repairable—if the valve is defective, you must replace it.
LG Dishwasher leaking from motor area
Impeller and Seal Kit. First, try to determine the source of the leak. If the water is leaking from the motor shaft area, the motor shaft seal is likely defective. If the seal is defective, replace it. (Some manufacturers sell the seal independently of the impeller. Other manufacturers require that you purchase the impeller and seal together. Still other manufacturers require that you purchase the entire pump and motor assembly instead of the impeller and seal. It is usually more cost effective to replace the impeller and seal kit rather than the pump and motor assembly.)
LG Dishwasher won't start
Door Switch. The door switch prevents the dishwasher from running while the door is open. If the door switch is defective, the switch will prevent the dishwasher from running even when the door is closed. To determine if the door switch is at fault, use a multimeter to test the switch for continuity. If the switch does not have continuity, replace it.
LG Dishwasher won't latch
Door Hinge. If the door hinges are damaged, the door won’t be able to latch properly. Inspect the door hinges for damage. If a hinge is bent or broken, replace it.
LG Dishwasher dispenser not dispensing soap
Bi-Metal. The bi-metal actuator is a metal loop which acts as a latch for the dispenser door. As electricity is applied to the bi-metal, it deforms and bends away from the latch, releasing it. If the bi-metal is burned out, it won’t release the dispenser door. To determine if the bi-metal has burned out, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the bi-metal does not have continuity, replace it. In addition, make sure that the dishwasher is getting enough water. If the water level is too low, the wash motor may not draw enough current through the bimetal, causing the bimetal not to bend enough to work properly.
Dryer Repair
For the home, kitchen and beyond, LG manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of LG appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.
My LG Dryer Won't Turn On
Thermal Fuse. The thermal fuse is a safety device designed to protect the dryer from overheating. The fuse is located on the blower housing or at the dryer’s heat source such as the heating element on electric dryers or at the burner on gas models. The fuse should be closed for continuity meaning it has a continuous electrical path through it when good. If overheated the fuse will have no continuity meaning the electrical path is broken and the fuse has blown. A multimeter can be used to test it for continuity. Be aware that a blown thermal fuse is an indication of a restricted exhaust vent from the dryer to the outside. Always check the dryer venting when replacing a blown thermal fuse.
LG Dryer stopped spinning
Drive Belt. The drive belt is a very long, slender belt that wraps all the way around the dryer drum, around a tension pulley, and then around the drive motor pulley. Over time, the belt can break from normal use. If the belt is broken, the dryer won’t turn. To quickly determine if the belt is broken, reach into the dryer and turn the drum by hand. If the drum spins very easily, the belt is likely broken. Next, inspect the belt to confirm that it is broken. If the belt is broken, replace it.
LG Dryer drum not turning
LG Dryer takes too long
Air Flow Problem. If the vent is clogged or partially clogged, it will restrict the airflow through the dryer, substantially increasing the drying time. To ensure proper dryer performance, you should clean your dryer’s venting system at least once per year.
LG Dryer overheating
Heating Element. The heating element warms the air before the air enters the dryer drum. If the element is partially shorted out, it may produce heat continuously, even if the dryer has reached the proper temperature. When this happens, the dryer gets too hot. To determine if the heating element is at fault, use a multimeter to test each terminal for continuity to the case. If the heating element has continuity to the case, it is shorted out. If the heating element is shorted out, replace it.
LG Dryer won't stop
Air Flow Problem. If the vent is clogged or partially clogged, it will restrict the airflow through the dryer, substantially increasing the drying time. To ensure proper dryer performance, you should clean your dryer’s venting system at least once per year.
Why is My LG Dryer Not Heating?
LG Dryer tripping breaker
The Circuit Breaker is Weak. Over time, circuit breakers can weaken. If the circuit breaker is weak, it may trip too often, even if the amperage draw is below the limit. If you have already checked all of the potentially defective dryer components, consider having an electrician replace the circuit breaker.
LG Dryer makes noise
Drive Belt. The drive belt is a very long, slender belt that wraps all the way around the dryer drum, around a tension pulley, and then around the drive motor. Over time, the drive belt can become frayed or otherwise damaged. If the drive belt is frayed or damaged, the dryer will be noisy as it turns. Inspect the drive belt for signs of wear. If the drive belt is worn, replace it.
Microwave Repair
For the home, kitchen and beyond, LG manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of LG appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.
LG Microwave not heating
Diode. The diode converts the A/C power output of the transformer to D/C, doubling the voltage to nearly 5,000 volts. This high voltage powers the magnetron to heat the food. If the diode burns out, the magnetron won’t receive enough voltage to operate, preventing the microwave from heating. When the diode fails, it is often visibly burned out. Inspect the diode and if the diode is burned out, replace it. If inspecting the diode proves inconclusive, test it with a multimeter that uses a 9-volt battery or put a 9-volt battery in series with the diode. When the leads are reversed, the diode should only have continuity in one direction. (Warning: The microwave oven can store a lethal amount of electricity in its high voltage capacitor, even after the microwave oven has been unplugged. Due to the high running voltage and the potential for electric shock, it is extremely dangerous to replace the electronic components in a microwave. Only a licensed technician should replace the diode.)
LG Microwave not working
Line Fuse. If too much current passes through the microwave circuitry, the line fuse will blow. If the line fuse blows, the microwave won’t start. To determine if the line fuse is at fault, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the fuse does not have continuity, replace it. In addition, you should investigate and resolve the problem that caused the fuse to blow. If you don’t resolve the underlying issue, the new fuse will blow too. (Caution: The microwave oven can store thousands of volts of electricity in its high voltage capacitor, even after the microwave oven has been unplugged. Due to the potential for electric shock, it is extremely dangerous to replace the electronic components in a microwave. Only a licensed technician should replace the line fuse.)
LG Microwave light bulb not working
Light Bulb. The light bulb itself might be burned out. Replace the light bulb before replacing any of the parts associated with the light bulb
LG Microwave shuts off after a few seconds
Door Switch. A door switch might be failing intermittently. Check each of the door switches for signs of overheating, arcing, or burning. If you don’t see any obvious signs of failure, use a multimeter to test each switch for continuity. If any of the switches is visibly damaged or only has intermittent continuity, replace it.
LG Microwave turntable not turning
Turntable Motor. Use a multimeter to test the motor for continuity. If the turntable motor does not have continuity, replace it.
LG Microwave buttons not working
Touchpad. To determine if the touchpad is defective, try pressing each of the buttons on the control panel. If some of the buttons respond correctly while others don’t, replace the touchpad.
LG Microwave display not working
Main Control Board. If the display goes out partially, the display board is more commonly at fault. If the display isn’t working at all, either the main control board or the display board could be at fault.
LG Microwave turns on by itself
Main Control Board. First, make sure that the touchpad is working properly. If the touchpad is working properly, the main control board is likely at fault. If the control board is defective, replace it.
LG Microwave is sparking or arcing
Waveguide Cover. The waveguide cover might be damaged and shorting out. Try removing the waveguide cover and see if the problem resolves. If the waveguide cover is burnt or will not stay in place, replace it.
Range Repair
For the home, kitchen and beyond, LG manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of LG appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.
LG Oven not self-cleaning
Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly. During the oven's self-cleaning cycle, the door lock switch activates the door lock motor to prevent the oven door from being opened. If the door lock motor and switch assembly is defective, the oven door will not unlock once the self-cleaning cycle is complete. On most ovens, you can open the oven door by removing certain screws or panels. Check your owner's manual for further instructions.
LG Oven won't turn on
Bake Element. When the bake element is heating properly, it glows red hot. If the element does not glow red, this indicates that the element is not heating. Often, if the heating element has burned out, it will be visibly damaged. Inspect the heating element for holes or blisters. To determine if the bake element has burned out, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the bake element does not have continuity, replace it.
LG Oven light is out
Light Assembly. If the oven light is out, the entire light assembly may need to be replaced. Often the light assembly components are not sold separately.
LG Oven temperature not accurate
Bake Element. When the bake element is heating properly, it glows red hot. If the element does not glow red, this indicates that the element is not heating. Often, if the heating element has burned out, it will be visibly damaged. Inspect the heating element for holes or blisters. To determine if the bake element has burned out, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the bake element does not have continuity, replace it.
LG Stove burner won't light
Spark Module. The spark modules provides power to each surface burner spark electrode. If the burner is produces a weak spark, or if the burner sparks intermittently, the spark module might be defective. Before replacing the spark module, first check the spark electrode and the spark wire. If the spark electrode and spark wire are not at fault, the spark module is likely defective. If the spark module is defective, replace it.
LG Stove heating element not working
Surface Element Board. The surface element board has relays that regulate the power supply to the burners. If one or more of the relays fails, the surface element won’t work. If two or more burners fail at the same time, this indicates that the surface element board is likely at fault. If only one surface element won’t work, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the surface element has continuity, the surface element board might be defective.
LG Oven broiler not working
Broil Element. The broiler element may have burned out. When the broil element is heating properly, it glows red hot. If the element does not glow red, this indicates that the element is not heating. Often, if the element has burned out, it will be visibly damaged. Inspect the broil element for holes or blisters. To determine if the broil element has burned out, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the broil element does not have continuity, replace it.
LG Oven doesn't bake evenly
Bake Element. If the bake element is burned out, the oven will only be heated by the broil element. This will cause the oven to heat unevenly. When the bake element is heating properly, it glows red hot. If the element does not glow red, this indicates that the element is not heating. Often, if the element has burned out, it will be visibly damaged. Inspect the bake element for holes or blisters. To determine if the bake element has burned out, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the bake element does not have continuity, replace it.
LG Oven not heating
Igniter. The igniter is the most commonly defective part for an oven not heating. The igniter has two main functions. First, the igniter draws electrical current through the oven safety valve to open it. Second, the igniter gets hot enough to glow and ignite the gas in the oven burner. If the igniter gets weak, it will fail to open the safety valve correctly. If the valve does not open, the oven will not heat. To determine if the igniter is defective, observe the igniter when the oven is on. If the igniter glows for more than 90 seconds without igniting the gas flame, this indicates that the igniter is too weak to open the valve. If the igniter is weak, replace it. If the igniter does not glow at all, use a multimeter to test the igniter for continuity. If the igniter does not have continuity, replace it.
Refrigerator Repair
For the home, kitchen and beyond, LG manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of LG appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.
My LG Refrigerator is Leaking Water
Condenser Coils are Dirty. The condenser coils are usually located under the refrigerator. They dissipate heat as refrigerant passes through them. If the condenser coils are dirty, they won’t dissipate the heat effectively. As debris builds up on the coils, the refrigerator becomes less efficient, causing the refrigerator to work harder to cool down. If the coils are significantly dirty, the refrigerator will not be able to maintain the proper temperature. Check the condenser coils to determine if they are dirty—if the condenser coils are dirty, clean them.
My LG Fridge Water Dispenser is Not Working
Water Tube in Door is Frozen. To determine if the water supply tube is frozen, disconnect the tube at the bottom of the door and blow air through it. If air does not pass through, this indicates that the water supply tube is frozen. If the water supply tube is frozen, thaw it out. In addition, ensure that the freezer is kept at the proper temperature. The freezer temperature should be kept from 0-10 degrees Fahrenheit. If the freezer is too cold, the water line may freeze.
My LG Ice Maker is Not Working
Freezer Temperature is Above 10 Degrees F (-12C). If the freezer temperature is above 10 degrees Fahrenheit (-12C), the ice maker will not produce ice cubes efficiently. The freezer temperature should be set between 0 and 5 degrees Fahrenheit (-18 to -15C) for the ice maker to work properly. If the freezer temperature is too high, ensure that the condenser coils are clear of debris and the condenser fan is working properly. In addition, check to see if frost has accumulated on the evaporator coils. If the evaporator coils are frosted over, part of the defrost system has likely failed.
LG Refrigerator ice dispenser not working
Dispenser Control Board. The dispenser control board governs most of the functions of the dispenser system. If the control board is faulty, it may stop supplying power to the entire dispenser system. If only one dispenser part is not working, test each of the dispenser components before testing the control board. It is more likely that a single part has failed. If the entire dispenser system is not working, the control board is more likely to be at fault.
LG Refrigerator not defrosting
Defrost Control Board. The defrost control board determines how often to run the defrost cycle. If the board fails, the refrigerator will not go into the defrost cycle. Before replacing the defrost control board, first test the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. If the defrost heater and defrost thermostat are working properly, the defrost control board is likely defective.
LG Refrigerator is noisy or loud
Fan Blade. If the refrigerator is noisy or loud, especially when one of the doors are opened, either the evaporator or condenser fan blade may be at fault. First, check out the evaporator fan blade in the freezer behind the back panel. Try turning it by hand. If the fan blade does not turn freely, check to see if the blade is rubbing against something or if something is caught in the blade. Additionally, check the condenser fan blade in the back underside of the refrigerator to determine if it has any obstructions.
LG Refrigerator defrost drain clogged
Clogged or Freezing Defrost Drain. The defrost drain might be clogged or frozen. If the defrost drain is frozen, the water will overflow the drain trough and drip down to the bottom of the compartment. If the defrost drain is frozen, thaw it out and ensure that the drain is clear of debris.
LG Refrigerator freezer is cold but refrigerator is warm
The Evaporator Coils are Frosted Over. The defrost heater assembly turns on a few times throughout the day to melt away any frost that may have accumulated on the evaporator coils. If the defrost heater assembly is defective, frost will continue to accumulate on the evaporator coils, and the coils will become plugged with frost. If the evaporator coils are frosted over, the airflow through the coils will be restricted, causing the refrigerator not to cool. Check the evaporator coils to determine if they are frosted over. If the evaporator coils are frosted over, test each component of the defrost system.
LG Refrigerator leaking water
Clogged or Freezing Defrost Drain. If the defrost drain is frozen, the water will overflow the drain trough and drip down to the bottom of the compartment. This water can eventually leak onto the floor. Check the defrost drain to determine if it is clogged or frozen. If the defrost drain is frozen, thaw the ice. In addition, flush the drain with hot water to ensure that it is clear of debris.
Television Repair
TV image is “breaking up” or showing pixelation
This is caused by a weak signal. In some cases, it can be the satellite signal between a live event and the television station (especially if you are watching live sports on the other side of the world). If it happens only when you attempt to watch HD, then it might be a compression artifact. In other words, this is a reception problem, not a problem with your TV. If it happens a lot, you can try reducing your sharpness setting.
TV shows a blue, green, or black screen
Your television is not getting a signal. Make sure that your cable or satellite box (or another device) is powered on and that the TV is set to the correct input – press Input, Source, or TV/Video on your remote control. Check behind the TV for loose connections. If none of this works and you are trying to watch live TV, then it is probably time to contact your cable or satellite provider. You may need to “reset” your receiver. If it is a DVD player, the problem may be the player. Also, the video cable may be damaged.
TV not properly showing 4K or other high resolutions
There are two problems here. First of all, if your new 4K TV looks excessively bright and colorful and has blurred details, the store probably put it in Vivid mode. Vivid mode is for in-store display. You want to reset it to, ideally, Movie/Cinema (or Game if you’re playing games). Another issue is that your AV receiver or anything else between the source and your TV needs to be HDMI 2.0a – or it simply does not support many kinds of 4K.
TV will turn on from the remote, but not the cable or satellite box
The cable box is not talking to your TV properly. Make sure that this is an option (it isn’t with all receivers) and if it is, try turning the box off, unplugging it for 15 seconds (at least), and turning it back on again.
TV settings are messed up
Maybe your cat or your toddler got hold of the remote – but you have ended up with TV settings that are so far from what you want that you just want to reverse them. The quickest way can be to reset the TV back to factory settings. This varies by TV model – you should check the manufacturer’s website for instructions, but it generally involves pressing a specific combination of keys on the remote.
Picture is squashed, stretched, or cropped
This is most often caused by something wrong in your picture size setting – also called zoom, wide, aspect ratio, or picture. The best setting, in most cases, is Direct or Just-Fit, which tells your TV to just show the video as it receives it. If you have a DVD player or old game system, though, you want to set the video to 4:3 – otherwise, your TV will stretch it to the modern 16:9 ratio. If using a computer, turn off Overscan to avoid weird cropping.
Captioning is on (or off) when you don’t want it
Turning closed captioning on and off varies according to your cable company. You will need to use their remote, usually the settings or menu button. Some remotes have a specific CC button. Check your provider’s website for specific instructions.
Cable or satellite receiver has frozen up
Your cable or satellite receiver, especially if it is also a DVR, is actually a pretty simple computer, and like any computer, it can crash. The first thing to try is to turn it off, unplug it, wait at least 15 seconds and then turn it back on again. This is essentially “rebooting” your receiver. To help avoid crashes, make sure not to cover the heat vents on the receiver, as they are often caused by overheating.
TV looks grainy
This is common with new TVs – and it means that your sharpness control is too high for the content you are receiving. In fact, some experts recommend turning sharpness down all the way to zero as it tends to aggravate any and all image source problems.

Washer Repair
For the home, kitchen and beyond, LG manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of LG appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.
LG Washer won't spin
Lid Switch Assembly. The lid switch assembly prevents the washer from spinning when the lid is open. If the lid switch assembly fails, the washer will not spin. To determine if the lid switch assembly is defective, use a multimeter to test the lid switch for continuity. If the lid switch does not have continuity, replace it.
My LG Washer's Not Spinning and It's Making a Loud Noise
Bearing. The tub bearing is mounted in the middle of the outer tub. The tub bearing helps to keep the inner tub spinning smoothly. Replacing the tub bearing is a very involved repair and will require disassembling most of the washer. If the tub bearing is defective, we recommend replacing both the outer tub and bearing.
LG Washer won't agitate
Agitator Repair Kit. If the washer won't agitate, replacing the agitator repair kit may solve the problem. The kit contains the agitator components that are most likely to wear out and/or fail. If any of the parts are worn out, stripped, or damaged, replace the kit.
LG Washer won't drain
Drain Pump. Sometimes, small objects or articles of clothing can get caught in the drain pump. To determine if anything is blocking the drain pump, remove the drain pump and check the pump for obstructions. If the drain pump is clear of obstructions, but is still noisy during the drain cycle, replace the drain pump.
My LG Washer Shakes Violently During the Spin Cycle
Shock Absorber. One or more of the shock absorbers might be broken or worn out. The shock absorbers dampen the vibration of the washer tub. If one or more of the shock absorbers are worn out, the washer will vibrate or shake. Sometimes, when a washer is moved to another location, the shock absorbers can separate. Check the shock absorbers to ensure that they are positioned correctly, and inspect them for damage and wear. If one or more of the shock absorbers are broken or worn out, we recommend replacing all of the shock absorbers as a preventative measure.
LG Washer fills slowly or will not fill at all
Water Inlet Valve. The water inlet valve opens to allow water to enter the washing machine. If the water inlet valve is defective, the wash may fill slowly or not fill at all. The water inlet valve requires sufficient water pressure to function properly. First, check the water pressure to determine that it is adequate. If the water pressure is adequate, try cleaning the screens inside the water inlet valve hose connection ports. If the washer still fills slowly, replace the water inlet valve.
LG Washer leaking water
Drain Pump. The drain pump pumps water out the drain hose. If the drain pump is cracked or damaged, or if the bearings are worn out, the drain pump may leak water. The drain pump is not repairable—if the pump is leaking water, replace it.
LG Washer won't start
Timer. The timer is frequently misdiagnosed—before replacing the timer, first check all of the more commonly defective parts. To determine if the timer is defective, consult your washer’s wiring diagram and use a multimeter to test the timer for continuity.
LG Washer won't spin or agitate
Drive Belt. Inspect the drive belt to determine if it is broken or if it is loose on the pulleys. If the drive belt is broken or loose, replace it.

We purchased our LG front loading washer and dryer in 2009 from Sears. The dryer model is DLE5955W and it worked beautifully for the first year. Then, all of a sudden, the machine began to cut off mid-cycle and will not dry the clothes completely - particularly on permanent press. We called Sears tech support since we had purchased a 5-year extended warranty on the machine. The technician came out and replaced the ETC board and sensor for moisture. The machine seemed to work for a while, and then the same problem occurred again. This time, they replaced the central board and PLB assembly. A few weeks later, they diagnosed the machine had a sensor failure. Each time, the technicians appeared puzzled and were on the phone throughout the service. While they were very nice, they were unable to fix the problem which continues to persist. This past week, the tech said it’s another sensor and control panel. But when he arrived to replace it, he was told by their technology support team that he didnt have the authorization to install the received part. That phone technician indicated that our ceilings in our home were too high and that the cause of the problem was a venting issue. What we soon discovered was that Sears has a policy that if their technicians arent able to repair the machine after 4 visits, we are entitled to a new machine under the lemon law. This would have been the 4th visit. My husband spent 2 hours on the phone and was passed through every employee in Sears, including their department that determines if the product is a lemon. Weve been buying our home appliances from Sears for nearly 40 years - what a crock of **.
I have a failed linear compressor on a $2500 LG refrigerator after only two years. Trying to schedule service or a claim through LGs website has not been helpful at all. The local repair tech said that they have seen multiple failures on LG compressors and that there are even one or two class action lawsuits against LG for the premature compressor failures. Hopefully, LG will step up and make right on the faulty compressors they manufactured. Until then, stay away from LG appliances. Warranties dont seem to mean much to them.
I am on my second LG 30.5 Cu Ft Door in Door French Door Refrigerator with Ice and water dispenser LFX31945ST. Price over 2.5k. Thank god for Best buy return and exchange policy or I would be screwed. After reviewing websites recommendation claiming this LG was the #1 rated product, I soon came to realize those rating are mostly on features and design. The reviewers do not actually keep that refrigerator in house and truly test the quality and durability of the product. So I purchased my brand new fridge - super excited. As a family of 5, I need something big and nice. During the next two week my wife kept noticing the freezer was not maintain the temperature. Give you an example: anytime you take out, ice cream, I normally had to let it sit on the counter for a minute before I was able to scope it out. With my top of the line LG Fridge I can take the container and squeeze with my bare hands. Call the LG tech, replace the motherboard. 24 hours later the whole fridge failed, all food lost. Call Best buy, I believed in the product and the review. This must of been a unique experience. Today is day 14 and the freezer still does not freeze properly, sending it back. Never ever will look at LG for anything again.
I was on the market for a new fridge but I didnt do so with a specific brand in mind. The LG I have now just so happened to be what I preferred when wholly considered, monetarily included. Along with a lot of others Im sure, my favorite part was of course the ice/water section built into the door. It made life that much more convenient, which is something we as a species crave seemingly primarily, convenience. The side by side design was weird to me at first, I mean compared to the traditional top and bottom design which has the homey feeling of childhood, that felt more like staying the night at a buddies. But over time Ive grown to love it overall.
Buyer beware before you consider purchasing an LG washer and dryer. I have owned mine for 2 and 1/2 years. Thank goodness I got an extended warranty on the washer, after 13 months I noticed that my clothes were not getting cleaned and most of the time there were dry spots where no water even got on the clothes. Could not count the times I have washed the load twice. The repair man is here again (on my $) and it does not look good. The dryer has never dried well, always have to dry each load several times. FYI, there are only 2 people in the family and most of my wash loads are very small.
I have a brand new refrigerator LRDC2603S delivered on 9/12/2020. The refrigerator did not cool to 37 degrees & remain hot at 45+ degrees. We changed the setting to 33 but the fridge temp was only able to cool to 44 degrees. After numerous phone calls & with technician repaired it 4 times, the fridge temperature is still too hot, over 42 degrees. I have bought a refrigerator thermometer to monitor the temperature.Every time calling LG, it takes at least an hour before somebody answered the phone. Most of the time, you cant get hold of anybody. I was totally flabbergasted when a customer rep asked me whether I had done my troubleshooting after I called back to report the fridge still not working properly after another repair service. The technician was very nice & professional. Its the customer service people that are supposed to provide services that I have problem with. They are either non-responsive or rude or give you the merry go round or totally incompetent. And they will forward my phone call to another dept & then the phone was dropped. Nobody really tried to resolve the issue and give us a solid answer. The issue is very clear. Fridge didnt cool to the set temperature. If you cant fix it, replace it. And when I told them of my food keep getting spoiled. Their typical answer is sending me a link to report it so I can claim. Fridge was delivered last Sept. Its been 8 months and somebody supposed to get back to me. I am still waiting. Its 8 months already.....
We have a six year old French door LG refrigerator, $2,700 purchased at Home Depot. It stopped cooling fridge and freezer. A local repair man told me it was the compressor and that he didnt work on LG refrigerators. I called the customer service number in the owners manual. The sealed system has a parts warranty for seven years and the compressor has a parts warranty for 10 years. When I called them, I told them that my compressor or sealed system was bad as the repair guy had told me. They acted like it was no problem and sold me a repair package for $459.00. They said that would include the repair and a year warranty on the repair. I said great and bought it. They send out the first guy after waiting several days. He said after a few minutes, the compressor is bad and he had to order the part. Well, after several days I hear that he is not coming back to fix it so now I have to wait several more days for LG to send someone else. Another guys shows up and says compressor bad, Im like yeah I know that. He says we will order the parts and it will take several days to get it. He gives me a card and receipt and is on his way. I wait days and never hear anything. I call the number in his card, they say we dont fix LG compressors. This is the same story that I got from the first one and this time I told LG to only send out a service that could fix it because I already knew that was the issue and they should have too since the first guy didnt want to fix it. So this time I was livid. They sent someone else that refused to fix it probably because LG will not pay them enough to fix it. LG continued to give me a runaround after they sold me this repair service for labor on what should be parts under warranty. Not to mention the fact that they screwed me around for three weeks sending their two chosen repairmen out who then refused to fix it but LG was not straightforward on that. I got the same BS story that I read in some other reviews that they say they dont have a repair person in my area. I told them that I live right outside of Houston and if you dont have a repair person in my area then you dont have one anywhere. They then said they would refund my repair purchase minus $100 for a service call fee. I was more livid! At this point I had been out of a refrigerator for over three weeks. We are a family of six with four children. It was our only refrigerator. We were living out of a mini fridge out of our attic and coolers! They did not care one bit. As I figured out that this was going to be a process, I went to Lowes and purchased a basic Whirlpool refrigerator for my garage. After threatening them with BBB and lawsuit, they refunded me my full purchase price of the repair package they sold me. I asked how they get away with not fulfilling their parts warranty. They offered me a one time chance to call my own repair man and I could call in or email his info to them and they would authorize him to get the parts under warranty but of course then I start over on service calls, fees and labor charges and Im sure, more runaround with LG sending the parts that my repair guy would need to fix it. I am so done with dealing with them. From the other reviews I read, Im lucky that my fridge lasted six years! I paid $2,700 for this refrigerator and we have kept it in perfect condition but now it is an expensive nice looking nonworking piece of junk! They are a horrible company. I called local repair companies and many dont even work on LG or Samsung refrigerators. They say their systems are too complicated and awful. I will never ever buy an LG again. I will not purchase Samsung either after what I have read and found out from repairmen. We have been operating out of the one I purchased for the garage and I am researching what to buy to replace my $2,700 LG. Awful, awful, horrible company for customer service!!! I will be purchasing Whirlpool/KitchenAid or maybe GE. It is really unbelievable what they put me through in this process and they do not care one little bit. I am a stay at home mom so I could be around without taking time off work but total and complete runaround and they lie non stop to you. They do not care about you one little bit and wouldnt care if you did have to take off work to deal with their scam and it is a scam!
Purchased a Front Load washer less than 3 years ago and it will not power on. Paid an electrician to come and verify that the outlet was getting power even though the same outlet powered other devices (Im thorough). Unplugged the device for a while then plugged it back in. It powered on then went right back off. Called LG support and she had me spin the drum, trip the breaker again, unplug it then plug it back up. Asked if it was purchased over a year ago and when I said yes I was pushed off to a retailer that supports their product at my own expense of course. I told her that its sad that others are having issues with the washers and that you pawn them off once the year warranty is up. The high reviews that are online need to removed or at least state the constant issues with the machine. Spending over $1000 on a washer that doesnt perform up to par and becomes useless in 2-3 years should have some type of recall for manufacturing defects!
Just before my top loading “smart drum” washer was off warranty it kept saying UE (uneven) and refused to spin...even after setting it on spin only. It would constantly set more time and refill with water and not fully spin. We are on a well and water use was a concern! I called LG and they contacted the authorized serviceman who came out a couple of days later. He replaced the motherboard and said all was good. That lasted less than 2 weeks before it was doing the same thing again. Called the repairman myself this time and he spoke to LG. Turns out my washer was a lemon and I actually got a new one on warranty. That was great UNTIL the new one started doing it too at about the same age as the original one started it. The new washer didn’t come with any warranty either so I’m stuck with it.LG top loading washers are a total piece of crap and it frustrates me to no end, wastes our well water and power, and I spend all day sometimes just trying to get 1 load of wash done! Too many times have I had to put dripping clothes into the dryer because I can’t get the washer to spin them out! If I had the money I would buy a new washer...but not an LG!
Poor quality. Drawer fronts break, electronics have gone haywire, display on door lights up randomly, door ajar buzzer sounds randomly, water hoses on rear of cabinet spray water everywhere, doors wont stay shut. In a word LG refrigerators are junk.
When we bought this dryer we were told itll last at least 10 years ~ it died today and its only been a little over 6 years. When we were forced to purchase a new LG washer 5 years ago because the stackable unit that LG makes will only support LG products, we were told by the LG repairman who had to come out twice to fix the brand new washer, told us that in reality the dryer would probably only last about 7 years and the new washer about 5 years because thats the way theyre designed. The dryer didnt even last the 7 years. Absolute expensive garbage and I will NEVER buy another LG product! Its costing us $425-$450 to have it repaired today, but its better than throwing away another $2000 on another set of useless, cheap-made crap by LG.
I ordered a Part for my stove hood (lsvc302st) in April. It is now June and theyre telling me the part is on backorder till the end of the month. Every time I call the parts on backorder for longer. Play it safe and do not buy Any LG products. Its new and shouldnt have broke this soon. I dont use it a lot.
I want to follow-up with how LG went above-and-beyond to help in my range repair. As I mentioned previously, my range went out just shy of having it four years. The thermostat stopped working causing the range to shut down. LG was gracious enough to cover the cost of the repair! I updated my star rating for LG from one to five stars because they were there and made good on a bad occurrence. Ill be buying more LG appliances in the future knowing how they stand behind their product. Thank you LG.
We bought a gas LG range in November 2017, we got the matching refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and range after we bought a new house. We did not start using it until February 2018 when we moved into the house. Since that time the oven would periodically say it was at temperature but when you open the oven to put in whatever you were cooking you could tell that it was not up to temperature. At first it was sporadic and I thought at first I was doing something wrong. Then it was every time that you would try to use the oven it would not stay up to temperature. Called and got a repair person to come out, under warranty, and we were told the ignitor was bad and it was replaced. It was less than a month later that it was doing the same thing. The repair person came out again, said again it was an ignitor issue. Ignitor was replaced again. (This time it was not within the warranty period.) Its been a couple months since the ignitor was replaced for the 2nd time and it is doing it again. I will never buy another LG appliance again. When you own an oven you expect that you can use it. Just thankful that the neighbor doesnt mind me using their oven to cook my meals.
In October 2014 we purchased a very nice Stainless LG Dishwasher - Model: LDF7774ST. The first week we had it the motor went out. LG replaced the dishwasher. Back in January of 2015, the so called quiet Dishwasher started making a lot of noises and had to have the dishwasher serviced. Now, the LG dishwasher will not drain. We have cleaned out the filter and the drain and nothing works and now have to have it serviced yet again. Three times in six months on an $800 dishwasher? Will never purchase an LG dishwasher again.
I purchased an LG computerized washer from Home Depot that has a big label that says 10 years, which is no guarantee of anything. The washer worked 3 years and the $450 power supply went out. No more computerized washers for me. They are pretty, but I will take the simple old models with knobs and mechanical parts without the fancy very expensive to repair computer parts from now on. My washer before it lasted over ten years. My expensive LG is in my shed. I cannot bear to put on the curb something I paid that much for. I now have a used washer that I paid $100 for the washer/dryer pair that work just fine. They are Roper models. I only recommend the LG gamble to people who have more money than they need and money to throw away.
The French door refrigerator we bought is awesome. There is so much room. That said it does make the freezer a bit small but I love the 3 different spaces. The new black stainless is terrific, no fingerprint marks and easy to spot clean when needed.
I purchased an LG French door refrigerator in Sept. 2018. It quit cooling in March 2020. Had a service call and was told that the part would be ordered and the technician would come back to install it. Never heard back from the technician so I called the service center. I was told that the part had never been ordered and would be ordered. I never received a call regarding the part so I called again. I was told that the part was discontinued and could no longer be ordered. The person at the call center could not help me. I filed a complaint with the BBB. I was asked for proof of my purchase. I sent my Lowes credit card statement showing the purchase date, what was purchased, what store it was purchased from, and the price. The statement had all of the information that was requested from LG.LG came back and asked for the actual receipt. The original receipt was taken by the service technician so that he would have the information to order the part. I cannot get a copy since the Lowes store that I purchased the refrigerator from has since closed. Furthermore, LG has all of my information. When I made the initial service call, they looked up my account with my phone number and told me that they had all of my information. As of today, the BBB has closed my complaint as LG is refusing to repair or replace my refrigerator with the receipt that their technician has. Just infuriates me to be out $2,300.00! Buyer beware! There are several class action suits on the refrigerator that I purchased but LG continues to sell the defective appliance and so does Lowes. They have looked for every outlet to get out of making good on their appliance!
We bought an LG gas stove LRG30355ST back in 2009-2010 and after a couple of months, the knobs started to crack in the back and falling off. Have had to pay for extended warranty to cover the cost, 106$ a knob is crazy. They just keep braking because they are made of plastic in the back instead of metal. We are on our 3rd set of knobs now.
Do not buy LG all in one washer and dryer. It doesnt dry at all, clothes get hotter and wetter, I followed all instructions. It also says takes 6 hours and 10 mins to dry a small load, which it didnt. LG tech came turned it on and off didnt try the dryer cycle. I found out LG only turn on and off any of their products, without looking at the problem. Therefore if it turns and off they say no problems. Never buy LG products.
We purchased an LG top-load washing machine last year and it is by far the absolute worst washing machine I have ever owned. Almost EVERY single load, since the day it was delivered, becomes unbalanced and will not finish washing. Even after re-adjusting the items in the washer multiple times. It often takes an entire day to wash one load. Serious waste of water and electricity. From the other reviews I see it would also be a waste of money to attempt repairing this problem. Looks like I need to buy another washing machine. Epic fail LG!
After posting my review, LG scheduled a service call for today (Monday). The technician called under the impression and according to the service call that the refrigerator was not cooling. I advised him that the refrigerator was running perfectly but no one had picked up the faulty door yet. He wound up picking up the door and hauling it away. I am very thankful that he did so, because I know he wasnt required to. All in all, the technician went above and beyond to do that, but I feel like it was only because I was the squeaky wheel. The issue is now resolved, but I still stand firm to my review. I will not purchase an LG product again.
Gas knobs on my LG 30 freestanding gas convection range (model number LRG3097ST) have malfunctioned twice; each time, theyre causing gas leaks. When my husband called, we got 4 replacement knobs with the identical issue. The issue is the plastic inserts - they break and they continue to break. This is a known issue! In my humble opinion, there should have been a recall issued a while ago on this; and you dont have to be a NASA rocket scientist to figure that out. I looked at the complaints the customers have made against the LG line, and its been going strong since 2009. I am not sure what the Consumer Protection Board is waiting on. But Im hoping to at least use this venue to get the message out. The rest of the oven works wonderfully, but the gas leak from those knobs should be addressed, and if not by LG, at least by our own Consumer Protection Board.
Purchased this washer in March of 2011. At first this washer worked great. Then it started to vibrate a lot more than it used to early on, then it started to tell me loads were constantly UE or uneven, then it started giving an IE code. It wasnt until the IE code that we called Sears... 2 months after our expensive $170 3 year warranty. They told us the part and we ordered it... wrong part. Finally got the right part and replaced it. The machine worked ok but we still had excessive vibrations and then it started stopping on 17 minutes. Wouldnt get past that time. Now, it is stopping at 45 minutes... and it took 3 hours to get to that point. My husband called Sears after finding out our machine is recalled and they claim that our machine doesnt count. He called a different Sears number and they said to call LG because its an LG machine. He calls LG and LG says that they no longer have a relationship with Sears and we need to talk to them. We then talk to Sears and the rep says our machine is definitely recalled but we need to call the recall line (which was the 1st call that had been made). He gives us the number to the escalation department and the rep claims she cant find our account. Then she says she needs a few minutes to research it and the call is disconnected. What are we supposed to do now? There really is a recall on this machine and I think it shook so bad over time that something was damaged in the unit. Sears wont help. LG wont help. Who can help? We are just out the 800 we paid? It is just my husband and I so it isnt like this machine was even used that much. No one will help us. What do we do now?
At 6 months old our top load highest model LG washing machine we purchased at Lowes has had problems. We are now in year 3 and have not had it fixed yet. Lowes, LG, and the Steel City Appliance in Sault Ste Marie, On are all useless. The appliance repair company has been to inspect washer, ordered wrong part, never shown up on 3 appointments, then quit doing LG repairs. Call LG. They say they will send someone from Sudbury 150 miles away, they say, We dont come that far. What a joke. We are at wits end. Dont buy LG.
Bought the LG Top Load Washer and Dryer in February and the worst mistake Ive ever made. I hate the washer, it is not efficient, and does not get my clothes clean. Never fails I get the UE error and always having to readjust my laundry only to find I have to do it again. If I dont pre-spot all stains they will not come out. I spend more time restarting and waiting for laundry to finish than anything else. I will never buy a LG product again. I hate this machine so much I wish I didnt have to give it a star. BTW spent the last 3 hrs trying to wash one set of queen size sheets.
I bought my LG refrigerator model LMX21981 in Nov. 2008. In the last 6 months it started freezing the vegetables in the crispers. I have had a serviceman out 3 times. The first time he followed the instructions of LGs technician and it was okay for about 2 weeks. The 2nd time he came, the tech had no advice for him. The 3rd time he just shook his head and said there wasnt anything else he could do. For the cost and short serviceable life of the fridge I would think LG would be interested in giving better service on their products. Now the whole refrigerator is freezing everything in it, including the milk, eggs, etc. I am tired of throwing out my spoiled frozen food.
Fridge is 4 years old. Bought new from Future Shop. Two adult person home and the magnets that hold the bottom door shut do not work anymore unless you push the door shut manually after opening and closing the top door. Highly annoying and the fridge runs far too much because not everybody remembers to push the door closed.
We moved into a new house 5/2015, and as a present to ourselves, bought a brand new stackable LG washer and dryer that had been highly recommended in Consumer Reports. We bought LG 4.3 CF WM3370HWA and LG 7.4 CF DLEX3370W from Lowes in Everett, WA. This is a front loader washer. From day ONE this washer would not get clothes clean. It does not matter if you use the recommended detergent (my previous ten-year-old Kenmore used whatever you wanted to put in it, and got things sparkling clean), doesnt matter if you add bleach. It wont do a small load, and we are a retired couple so we dont have huge loads! It also wont wash a load of sheets - it balls them into tiny balls. If you try to wash a mixed load with a couple towels, you repeatedly get the UE (uneven load error). I constantly am standing on my head rearranging a sopping wet heavy bunch of clothing. I NEVER had this before with my top loader Kenmore! It also does not add the detergent in the first part of the wash - it doesnt add it til like 35 minutes into the wash. God help you if you add bleach, everything comes out smelling like none of the bleach is washed out. It makes a very loud chunking noise while filling, also. When you wash socks (and mind you, we are clean people who do not have pets, so its not like our floors make filthy socks)...the socks come out looking like they have not been washed at all - the knit on the bottoms are still depressed from walking...and the socks are not fluffed up at all!We called Lowes, and they said you have to call LG. So we called LG and they sent out a repair person. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. First words out of the guys mouth when he got there - I have twelve visits today and I cant stay past 30 minutes... Then he went over to the washer, pushed buttons on it a couple times, pronounced it fine, and started to leave. When we stopped him to ask questions, he got very defensive. We told him Its NOT fine, it wont clean the clothes! He said Well, it cleans them, just obviously not good enough for YOU. I showed him the dirt on the socks and he said Well, add more water! So I said Can you please at least stay through a cycle so you can see that it is NOT doing what it is supposed to do? He refused. After he left, we tried pushing the add more water button (which means none of the preset wash choices work...you have to do manual wash selection every time) and it still did not get the clothes clean. Also, yes, there is tons of crap that accumulates in the virtually uncleanable rubber gasket, and yes, we leave the door open 24/7. So far no smell, but I think that is because I use bleach so much and leave the door totally open. Now for the dryer. IT WONT DRY CLOTHES unless you put it on timed dry and high heat! And still, it balls everything into a ball! Our previous Kenmore never did this! And it also has one of those rubber gaskets on the door that fills with lint and you cant clean it out! We paid $2,089 for this piece of crap set and that is a lot of money for a retired couple on social security and a small retirement. I think I hate the LG people for selling an inferior product and not blinking an eye about it. I only wish I had seen this page of complaints BEFORE we bought this. PLEASE DONT BUY ANYTHING THAT USES SENSOR! Sensor does not work. Please dont buy a front loader LG. THEY DONT WORK. And when we called back LG and asked for a different repair person, they told us there was no one else...it was him or no one. Have a nice day. Click.
We purchased an LG front loading washer a couple of years ago. During that time, we had 4 major repairs: 2 under warranty and 1 under extended warranty. Last week (4th problem), a repairman recommended to not waste our money to fix the bearings because the next problem will be the control electrical panel - $200 parts, $75.00 labor and need to wait 2 weeks for the parts. We decided to cut our losses and buy new. Never would we ever buy an LG product again! We ended up buying a Speed Queen washer - no electronic circuit board, just plain dial type like the way they used to make it. The average lifespan of an LG washer is 5 years.
A couple years ago, we had a problem with the knobs on a LG gas range installed in a rental unit. The labelling on the knobs wrinkled due to the heat from the oven, and there was another problem that I dont recall now. After contacting a local appliance store and getting a referral for replacement parts available at a substantial cost, we contacted LG directly. They were very helpful and sent a new set of replacement knobs free of charge. Since there were a number of similar complaints posted at that time, I wanted to post this as a possible solution to the problem, even though my posting is long after the problem was solved.
Have had washing machine for only 3 years and have rust completely around the bleach dispenser. Contacted LG and they said it was due to spilling solvents on the machine. Its a bleach dispenser! Gave me no satisfaction, basically said it was my fault. Have never had a machine rust before.
We have a had our LG washing machine and dryer now for approximately six years. My washing machine decided to break down and we have called several appliance repair shops and none of them want to work on LG. They say trying to get the parts for them is impossible and they are impossible to work on. I finally found one place that is willing to come out and look at it but they are giving me no guarantee. Last month our LG refrigerator had a spring break on the flapper part of the door. We called several appliance repair places. None of them wanted to work on it because it was LG. I finally talked one into coming out because it was only a spring, right? Well they couldn’t just replace the spring. The whole flapper had to be replaced. Much to our surprise the only flapper that was available took six weeks to get to us. And it cost $300 because a little tiny spring broke. Absolutely ridiculous!!!! We will never ever purchase an LG product again.
I bought this Sears Kenmore Elite French door fridge in late 2007 (Model 795.755.46401). Within a couple years (but out of warranty), lots of little things started to go bad. As others have mentioned, the plastic latches at the top of the doors broke, and then the latches for the tilt out vegetable drawer fronts broke, and then the slides on the drawers broke, and the hardware that supports the bottom shelf broke - etc. The whole interior is made of parts too flimsy to last for the useful life of a refrigerator. Then the front door water dispenser stopped working, and just recently the whole front display went out and the main compartment lost temperature control and started freezing everything. Im a handy guy (and an electronics engineer), so I ordered and replaced the main board and then the display board, as they were the obvious failure points. That didnt fix the problem, so I dug in deeper. It turns out that the wires inside the front left door that go up through the hinge have broken. I could deal with that if the failure was at an accessible point (at the hinge one would expect), but I eventually figured out that the wires have broken somewhere inside the door. The wires are apparently molded into the door and cannot be replaced, so I have a $2,000+ refrigerator crippled by a bad 10-cent piece of wire and an astonishingly stupid design that makes that wire part of a $400 door assembly.Like I said, I am a handy guy, so I routed a very thin and not too ugly replacement wire on the exterior of the door to replace the broken wire inside the door, and for now the fridge is back in business. Ill join the many posters in this blog who will steer clear of all LG appliances in the future.
When we remodeled our house, we redid our kitchen, and my wife picked out the refrigerator. We also got everything matching. So, that was why we went with them. LG is a well-known brand, and the unit we got was on sale and it was about the size we needed. Also, it is quieter than what we had. We have had our refrigerator for two years now and it was good, but the compressor went out on it. So, we had to have warranty work done on it. It works good now. The serviceman who came was good, too.
My wife purchased the top of the line LG French door at Lowes in Griffin, Ga 7-27-14 (over $3000!). On 8-13, unit made strange humming sound and 8-14, freezer quit (suspect frig also but we kept door closed). Called LG 7pm 8-14 and the advisor had me go thru a bunch of steps (it was quite obvious he was reading the steps and had no clue what he was advising). He asked had we reset?? anything or made any adjustments to the temp...I wouldnt even know HOW? He had me unplug, then reset temp to -6 and then place a cup of water in the freezer and call him back in 3 hours. The whole time humming/unusual sounds still there. I called back at 11pm EST as instructed, and cup of water still just a cup of water, did not freeze. He then told me we were out of their normal service area??? and it will take 2-3 days for a technician to arrive! Seriously! Hello, this is the year 2014, not 1934. I then got upset. I called Lowes the next morning at 6am. They brought a loaner frig and placed on our front porch. As soon as it was unloaded, the LG mysteriously started working and the sound went away. I am calling Lowes this morning for a full refund. I am not going to get involved with this mystery problem going back and forth. LG customer service, horrible, I AM OUT and will never purchase any LG product. Please dont make the mistake we made, do your research first!! Shame on you Lowes for offering this frig as a top end! Do your research Lowes purchasing agents.
Bought LG-LMX27626S. Paid almost $3000.00 for it in Jan 2016. The fridge died - not cooling and the same issue with the Linear Compressor like everyone else, there is no local LG repair technician available in my area or the whole island - I live on Maui. Call LG customer service and spoke to 3 person, two from Philippines and finally talked to someone in Alabama, she is as bad - she said, “We can send you the parts and you have to find your own repairman!” Hello. There is NO one to service LG fridge on Maui. I asked to speak to supervisor or management - she basically told me no and she told me LG management will NOT speak to the customers!. Worse product that I ever purchased - no more LG for me and rest of the Made in Korea products! I will tell all my friends and co-workers not to buy their products!
Purchased a WM2801HLA Direct Drive front load washer & matching gas dryer (new) in April of 2010. In the 7 years of ownership, the LG Washer has had 2 drain pump failures, 1 circuit control board failure, and a Spider Arm assembly failure (due to preventable corrosion). The 1st drain pump failed under extended 5-year warranty, as did the circuit control board. Everything else has failed on my dime and my time. The failed spider arm also took out the Balance Assembly Ring by tilting the tub, thus making contact with a fixed component and rubbing a hole in the liquid filled assembly ring - which drained the ring, rendering it noisy as a tank & useless. Our machine started making some warning sounds in the spring of 2017... Which I thought were the bearings. Being as the seal & bearings are a regular fail point, I ordered seals and bearings and pulled the machine apart. Turns out it was the Spider Arm assembly which had corroded to the point that only 1 of the 3 arms was still intact holding the drum to the support assembly. The bearing seal and bearings were still fine (although replacing the seal when you are in there is a MINIMUM to prevent future bearing failure).Just for good measure, the 2nd circuit board is now also behaving in a similar manner as the 1st one did on its way out (you cannot power up the machine without unplugging it - wait 30 seconds - and plugging it back in). This circuit board problem comes and goes, but it is not uncommon for the LG brand (do a YouTube search for LG washers failing to power up). The Spider Arm failure was due solely to using an unpainted aluminum part (spider arm), bolting it to a dissimilar metal (stainless steel drum) and exposing it to both electrolyte (soapy water, baking soda) and acids (vinegar, bleach, cleansing tablets, etc). Shiny piece of crap is how I would describe this LG washing machine. In the 15 years since Front Loaders became fashion statements, I am not aware of a single Front Load manufacturer that has corrected this spider arm fail point (its a guaranteed certainty it will fail with any sort of regular use) by either painting it in enamel, making it out of stainless steel, or abandoning the stainless steel tub for an enamel coated one. Its clear to me that this is a purpose-driven engineered failure of the washing machine. I was able to fix the machine myself (and new bearings/seals for good measure... As youre already in there) but most people cannot. Even so, it was $400 with bearings, seals, balance ring, spider arm, and enamel paint for the new spider arm to prevent corrosion thereof. When the spider arm fails, it is generally the death knell for the machine. To hire someone to fix is usually in the neighborhood of $800 (and several days to get parts/fix). Thats right around the price point of a new washer... And therein lies the motivation to junk a 6 to 8-year-old washer. Compare that to my 1996 Maytag Dependable care top load washer and gas dryer. 13 years of ZERO problems, and probably still going strong at my former house (left as part of the house sale). These front loaders could last just as long by making the terminal failures less frequent. I.E. Eliminate the Spider arm corrosion. Use higher grade bearings. Use a higher grade bearing seal. I will accept the circuit board failure, as its easy to replace. Although, there should be no need for that either if the circuits are rated for automotive use (high vibration).Ditto the drain pump failure (its downright delicate looking) but its $50 and I can change it rather quickly. Unfortunately, given that all the manufacturers are using price as the lowest common denominator, its unlikely that any single manufacturer will step up their game. If manufacturers build a better machine, theyll have to raise the price as turnover falls.A couple of takeaways Ive learned: Dont stack your washer/dryer - It makes them a nightmare to service (and these new machines demand servicing). Front load washers are crap. I believe you can eliminate the spider arm by going back to a top loader. Become handy - You need to be able to diagnose, disassemble, & repair these crappy products yourself to extend the life thereof.
I bought an LG refrigerator in Aug of 17’ and have spent 25 + hrs and going on 3 weeks on the phone (really poor customer service), scheduling appointments with the service tech and still don’t have a working refrigerator. Save yourself a lot of headache and DON’T buy LG refrigerator!!
This refrigerator is the worst piece of crap I have ever purchased. Dont get sucked into purchasing one of these. It breaks down constantly and all my food is ruined. I have so many repair bills, I could have purchased a new refrigerator by now.
Purchased LG fridge (LFX25991st) in December 2013 for $2,500. December 2015 evaporator fan & control board went out. Cost $500. July 2017 the exact same issue. This time Sears repair parts & labor $800. Sears tech. informed us that this was a documented service alert and that there was a design defect in the air-flow cover assembly which has been corrected. Now, three weeks after the $800 repair ice maker is no longer working and the freezer is not working. There should be a lemon law for appliances. LG is a zero on customer service. This is the worst piece of garbage I have ever owned and deeply regret purchasing an LG product at all. I will NEVER EVER purchase an LG anything again.
LG top load washer model WT1101CW purchased from Home Depot March 2014. Washer frequently does not get even barely dirty clothes clean; sometimes it appears that parts of clothes never even got wet during the wash! Extremely disappointed in this washer.
Beware of LG front loader washing machine WD13020D, especially for Australian users. The plastic wash drum which surrounds the stainless steel wash bowl is easily pierced by Australian fifty-cent piece. LG wont accept responsibility and said the hole in the plastic drum is caused by foreign body (indigenous fifty-cent piece. Natural habitat: pockets). I have heard of several instances of this happening.
Purchased LG front load washer model WM2301HW 01/03/2011. Could not get thru cycle without repeated UE error codes, drum not spinning & water leaking all over. 2015 tech replaced board control and other parts. Now I have the exact problem as before. Machine is JUNK. This weekend had to purchase a new washer because warranties much less good customer service or products to say the very least do not mean anything to LG. Out of curiosity checked reviews for LG front load washer & what do you know... Hundreds of other innocent consumers has had to put up with the same abuse from your LG company. We need to all band together and fight the unjustified ethics of LG. Ive contacted an attorney; well see what happens. P.S... and YES the clothes & washer do stink just like LG company. To the couple of reviews who said their clothes do not smell... You had better get your smeller fixed!!
On September 24, 2007 I purchased an LG refrigerator (model # LRSC26923TT), dishwasher and microwave at Gabowitz Appliances, East Brunswick, New Jersey. At that time I purchased an extended warranty for the refrigerator. The refrigerator needed to have the icemaker replaced within the year. The repairman told me it was a defective part and since then, it has had to be replaced four times for the same reason. The icemaker melts and becomes deformed. LG keeps replacing the defective part with another defective part as they have not fixed the defect. My extended warranty expires in September, 2012 and from hereon in, I will have to pay approximately $350.00--the price the repairman said it will cost--when it again needs a repair since it was again replaced with a part that is the same as the defective part (as per the repairman). When I wrote to LG they just answered that it is out of the manufacturer’s warranty and they have no obligations.
I originally gave LG a poor product review regarding my LG fridge. The control panel, icemaker, and water dispenser stopped working. It got off to a rough start working with LG customer service. It took a couple of visits from the LG technician to figure out that the left door would have to be replaced. This was an expensive repair. I contacted LG and requested assistance with the cost of the repair. It took a while (about three weeks), but LG stepped up and bought the part and I paid the labor. My fridge is 4 years old and long out of warranty. Its not lost on me that LG didnt have to do anything. LG is the first appliance/electronics company that did anything for me out of warranty. I should also add that the LG technician was very professional and reliable. Overall, LG turn me around from frankly a pissed off customer to a loyal customer. LG will be first on my list next time Im in the market for appliances, televisions, etc. The only reason I didnt give LG a full five stars was it just took so long to get my fridge fixed and it took several phone calls to LG customer service before I found and agent who took and interest and went to bat for me. I think her name was Marsee. Im not sure about the spelling. One last thing, LG does not mark up their parts. I checked. If you have an issue with an LG product, make sure you use LG technicians. If you call and independent outfit, you can expect that they will (in some cases) mark up the parts double.
Updated on 05/10/2019: Where do I start! First of all, I stand behind my comment to stay away from LG! I have my 1st replacement compressor after 3 service calls and guess what?? It DOESNT WORK!! Keep in mind it has taken over 3 weeks to get this far with a refrigerator that is less than 2 years old! Id like to say that I am surprised! 48 hrs after the repair with a bottle of water in the refrigerator and a bottle in the freezer, neither are cold let alone frozen. LGs response was.... What is the temperature of your refrigerator? Are you kidding me? I just told that it wasnt working and that is the response I get?Needless to say I am still waiting to hear what the next steps are because I was told that I dont qualify for a new refrigerator. There is a process that they will not elaborate on that needs to be followed and apparently it starts all over again with what is the temperature of your refrigerator.... WOW!! It is absolutely ridiculous! It should start with... I am so sorry for the issues this is creating and we will put a rush on another replacement compressor and schedule a new service date for the install immediately. Then it should be proceeded by... If we are unable to fix the issue we will STAND BEHIND OUR PRODUCT AND REPLACE IT!!! I think they need to take an ethics class and learn how to handle their business. RUN!! STAY AWAY FROM LG REFRIGERATORS!! Personally, I will never buy ANY LG product again.Updated on 04/27/2019: I am on round 2 of trying to get the faulty compressor replaced with a new faulty compressor in my LG refrigerator. Oh yes... I said it!! They know the replacement compressors are faulty and are continuing to install them and forcing people to deal with their unethical business practices!! They were supposed to replace the pathetic compressor on the first appointment but chose to lie to me and schedule a diagnostic first even though I had already agreed to pay for the repairs on the off chance it wasnt the compressor. Thats completely impossible by the way with all of their known compressor issues. The part that makes me extremely angry is the service tech had a new compressor in his truck but was unable to install it unless it was sent by LG specifically for my job or he would not be paid for the repairs. Now I get to sit and wait for an undetermined amount of time until someone in their scheduling department decides to call me back to schedule the next appointment. I even tried to schedule the appointment directly with A & E (who LG uses for repairs) and they cannot help me until LG does their job even though EVERYONE KNOWS that the compressor is bad! This is absolutely the most horrifying thing I have ever heard of and a class action lawsuit could not be more fitting for this type of behavior! I will never buy another LG product and have made it a mission to tell everyone I possibly know how unethical they are and to stay away from their products!! This type of behavior will end up destroying this company and they deserve it!Original review: They know they have a compressor issue with my model of refrigerator and have already been to my house once to replace the ice maker. My refrigerator is also less than 2 years old! Now, they will not even schedule a repair without the serial number (which they should already have from the previous repair) and could care less that I am without a refrigerator and have water all over my floor not to mention that it has ruined everything in my refrigerator and freezer! To say I am unhappy would be an understatement!!!
LG GL-M522 GNSL-2015. I bought in May 2015 this fridge as I required a bigger one. But it is bigger just in terms of model specifications. In fact its designing is so poor that it does not fulfill my only requirement of more space to use. I am happy that I didnt sell my old small LG322 l fridge otherwise I couldnt put even a small size watermelon or a normal size jug in the fridge. At the time of purchase even its door sensor was also defective. When technician came, he told me you should take AMC of this fridge as its maintenance is too costly. Its PCB only costs Rs8500, service charges 680/-. I am very scared if I have to repair my fridge, what will I do.
This is about my front-loading washer. For some reason it ties the clothes in knots all around each other. And it doesnt put enough water in the tub. Sometimes a load of clothes is still dry in the centre when I take it out. Since its the water that cleans and your soap just helps the water, this makes the washer ineffective and difficult to use. My last front loader did neither of these things, but I was told that the quality of that brand had declined so went with LG, as Id had good experiences with some of their other products. BAH!!
Dirty dishes!! This is what I have been dealing with since I purchased my new top of the line LG dishwasher. It was the most expensive LG dishwasher on the floor. Purchased kitchen full of LG products which were high dollar products in order to get the best!! However, not so. There is a residue that is sitting on the bottom which is even present after I ran the empty dishwasher with a dishwasher cleaning agent. Water also sitting in the bottom. I have contacted LG twice and spent approximately one hour on the phone with a technician. Still not cleaning properly. LG refusing to cover the cost of sending a technician to my home. No future LG products in my home!! LG does not take care of its customers.
I bought an LG dishwasher 2 1/2 years ago and it never cleaned dishes well at all. It started leaking water. I have not used it for over 2 years. This is the biggest piece of $800 junk I could have bought. I would never buy another LG product nor would I recommend this product to anybody.
The electric stove is a double oven LG. It is dangerous. When you are cooking or lean over it turns the knobs on the front way too easily. Just a little pressure and the burner is on. Our family has had this happen all the time and we always check to make sure it’s not on. We also purchased their microwave at the same time. That caught fire inside. I wouldn’t recommend their products.
Bought an LG dryer in 2020 from Lowes, thinking they must be good because it costs so much more then other brands. Wrong! Very frustrated as this thing will not dry clothes on any setting. Even on high, extra dry the clothes always come out damp. I have to dry small loads of delicates 4 times and even then they still come out damp. Towels I dry on heavy duty, high, and still have to go thru two cycles. I wish I could return this junk.
I have an LG refrigerator model LMXS30776D, which retails for $3999.99, it was manufactured in March of 2016. I have now had to replace the compressor, the evaporator coil and now the fan and controller. It took 3 months to get the compressor replaced. A month to get the evaporator coil replaced. I wonder how long it will take to get the fan fixed. This means that the unit has been broken for 1/4 of the time I have owned it.
Doing a load of wash was an excruciating experience with our new top loading LG washer. Kept stopping, flashing uE or UE signals, requiring a load redistribution which many times did not work requiring more load redistribution! It took hours to do a load of wash, could not leave the house, not knowing how long it would take to complete the cycle. Every so often a load would run right through raising expectations that this washer was finally doing what it was supposed to be doing only to realize that dysfunction was the norm. We were told we were not distributing the load evenly?! Does it now take a rocket scientist to load a washing machine, obviously with this one it does. We were told maybe we didnt have enough clothes in, just add more! Like clean ones? I thought this was eco friendly? We finally had a repairman (kid) in. He was very nice, and ordered a new computer board saying sometimes the washer didnt learn right. OK, so I now have a learning disabled washer, but hey it was getting remedial learning! Good... right. In the meantime I was advised to use the low spin option. About 2 weeks later the new computer board is installed, but was still advised to use the low spin option, really, whats that about, wasnt it just fixed? But anyway, delighted that I now had an A+ washing machine, OK maybe a B+, I loaded it up, still using the low spin option as advised, even after the brain implant, and guess what? The load went right through! Success, shes a genius! Alas, the success must have shorted out the new brain. Its now back to playing the same old games, and me, never knowing when a load will go through as it should. And guess what?? the low spin option is no longer an option! Skips right over that. Maybe she did learn something.
We bought all new LG appliances several months ago. Happy with all except dishwasher (LDS5540ST). I too am having issues with the dispenser door not opening or opening and the cube is still in the compartment. Have found the cube in the bottom of the dishwasher not totally dissolved. I too just bought the liquid detergent and the door opened on the dispenser and the liquid is in the bottom of the dishwasher. I have called the company on 2 occasions. She has given some information but nothing changes. I was told to make sure the dispenser was not being blocked by dishes. I monitored but that is not the issue. We went back yesterday to the company we bought from. Different salesman and he had not one positive word about any of the LG appliances. I will call the service rep to come look and if not help will take it back!!! Anyone have any suggestions?
We purchased our LG LRFDS3006S refrigerator on 12/20/19 and it was delivered 12/31/19. WE had it for 2 weeks when we noticed the middle pull out shelf in freezer had bowed up and the egg bowl boxes kept getting stuck. Called into Lowes and because it was so new said to call LG. Well I called LG and they are located in the Philippines. I asked to be sent back to the USA and was told they could not. I called Lowes back and they tried to get me to a USA office, but no luck. Finally was told we had to talk to a supervisor. With Lowes on the line with me I tried to explain my situation with LG. LG rep said she would send me a video on how to close freezer, (nothing to do with my problem). Then sent me a complaint form which you can not attach a video, so sent picture. They still did not understand and asked if I had overfilled the tray. Said it is bowed up not down. Finally after an hour on phone she scheduled a service appointment but said I had to pay for it if it was not an LG issue. Told her that I was not going to pay for anything. Lowes was so nice that they were just going to replace refrigerator. Well repairman came out and said he would order me a new drawer tray, saying that the drawer tray should not bow like that. I believe it is cheap plastic used by LG. Will see if new drawer tray bows again. From now on when I purchase an appliance I will check to make sure they have a USA customer service department.
We purchased our French Door Refrigerator in Nov. of 2011 from Home Depot for over $2500. We had not problem with the unit until May of 2014 when the it stopped working. Calls to LG resulted in a service call but we did have to wait for several days for service which of course means you have to find a place for all your food so you dont lose it. Ok - repair guy came out and replaced the fan assembly behind the freezer stating that it needed a stronger fan to keep it from freezing up. OK - unit was noisier than before but it did work. Until May of this year when the same thing happened again! Same repair guy - same fix. After he left it did start making a louder noise so we called him back. When he came back he said that is just the normal noise the new fan makes and rather rudely left! This week the unit quit working again!About six weeks later the last call - we unplugged it and plugged it back in but still had to move all the food again since it was thawing out. Had to wait 24 hours for the repair guy to come once again and apparently unplugging it caused it to reboot because it did start cooling again. ** the repair guy walked in, pointed his infrared thermometer and said Well - it is working, there is nothing wrong with it and refused to do anything else - accused of yelling at him - which we werent and stomped out of our house! Subsequent calls to customer service were not very helpful. They all give you the same responses like they are reading it off of cue cards - all denying culpability and trying to put it on us instead of admitting that their product is faulty! And this model has had a class action lawsuit against so we know there is a problem! My advice - do not buy an LG product. They are not the quality you pay for and if you have a problem, you will not get any help from them at all. Their consumer service department treats you without respect and without true concern for taking care of the problem.
$3000 and 3 years old our fridge died just before the holidays. LG set up 2 appts with their technical support at A&E and neither appointment was honored. I have parts sitting here in my home; a compressor and dryer sent by LG for the technician. 2 days sitting home after canceling a long awaited doctor appt and other work related activities. There seems to be no end in sight and no way to contact upper management at LG in Huntsville, Alabama. They are hiding out there and taking no responsibility for their inferior product. Never again LG.
Have it for 5 years now and it works excellent. Light load or heavy it just does not care, heavy duty machine. We are a big family and have our relatives over for party, birthdays and anniversaries. Im very happy with this product from LG and recommend it to my friends and family.
Sadly, we are having similar issues with our relatively new LG French Door top of the line refrigerator. About 6 months ago, the ice maker stopped working. I had to have it replaced -- thought it was covered by Geek Squad protection, but thats another story. NOW it just quit working. No signs or symptoms. Just yesterday it was fine, today everything is thawed. I called LG, tried to trouble shoot over the phone with the smart phone diagnostics which didnt register any information apparently, so I had to call a certified technician. Of course, the ONE that is within an hour of my home, cant even come to look at it for three days and probably wont have the part. The customer service lady did tell me that the compressor would be covered under the ten year warranty but the snarky receptionist for the technician told me only if I have the owners manual and the receipt. Really?? It is clearly a new fridge - ridiculous! Life is NOT good when you have six kids and no refrigerator for a week!
Compressor failure on a 18 month old $3800 LG refrigerator. We purchased what we thought was a top of the line highly rated refrigerator. After less than 18 months the compressor failed. LG gave me an authorization and local authorized service centers, each one telling me that the compressor (10 year warranty) must come from LG and there is a 4 month backorder and they wouldnt want to do it, because LG doesnt pay them for their time. I found the LG indicated upgrade compressor online and a service tech, $900+ out of pocket for parts and labor. LG offered $650 for parts, labor and food loss and then called me and rudely reneged. This is not an isolated incident, from my investigation, there are thousands of LG customers with the same problems. There is talk of a class action lawsuit.
Ive had it one week. DO NOT LIKE. Ive used several times for one load (not large, not small, regular size load). Things are NOT clean at all. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Ive done everything right. The dryer I had went out. I bought a dryer and matching washing machine. The clothes smell bad, have lint on them before they get in the dryer, stains wont come out even with Clorox. I am going to call the store and the company Monday.
My mom actually suggested that I picked that brand and I thought it would be good to give it a try since Ive never had one before. So far its been good. I think its perfect as it is. It has everything that I need in a fridge. I like the double doors on top and the fridge on the bottom. I think its more convenient that way since I use more stuff in the fridge. I dont have to climb on the floor.
After my husband returned home from Iraq, we thought we deserved an upgrade of our 15 year old hand-me-down washer and dryer. We purchased the LG front loading washer (model # WM2487HRM). It began smelling horribly, not long after. We have had to leave the door and the dispenser drawer open, put dryer sheets in to help with smell in between washes, regularly try to wipe out the disgusting rubber seal, after every wash, because of the remaining water, and still it stinks. The printing on the machines is rubbing off, and the seams on the exterior of the dryer seem to be disintegrating. Every time I wipe it clean, the color of the machine (red) wipes off! We also have terrible vibrations with it. On January 18, 2012, we had a service technician come to check why it sounded like it was so far off balance, that it was going to crack the interior. Of course, the extended warranty provider, Federal Warranty Service Corporation, sent out the repair company of their choosing. He checked that the machine was indeed level (we already tried that), still it shook so bad that he had to remove the top of the washer, and proceeded to tell me wow! You should see how bad it is! That thing was going crazy inside there! He said the bearing was bad, and warned that with continued use, it might seize up. He also said that he wouldnt even attempt to replace it, because of the man hours it would require, and they only pay him a flat fee of $95 to repair it. It just wasnt worth his time. He said he would contact the service contract provider with the recommendation, to replace the machine altogether, and even recommended that we get a top loader next time! We still havent gotten any resolution, and our washer is worse than ever! LG, Home Depot, and Federal Warranty Service Corporation should all be ashamed of themselves for producing, selling, and attempting to maintain service contracts on this washing machine! It is the last time I will I purchase from any of them! Class action suit? Count me in!
LG ventless dryer purchased in 2012 for about $900 at Home Depot. It dies two weeks after warranty expires. Trip charge $72, replace control board $250, labor $100. Total $422 repairs. Do not buy LG products.
My 32CFT refrigerator’s compressor failed 3 times in last 3 years. Still within Warranty. This time it stopped cooling on Aug 6th, notified on 7th, they sent an Authorized tech from Goodman Services: they sent 3 technicians so far, but the problem never solved. First Tech, came in with ill health, couldn’t finish the job and left in the middle. Second one came two times and spent almost 4 hours, told he fixed everything and asked to wait 24 hrs to get full cooling, but never happened. Their customer services never cares about customers, after all they are the only authorized tech for LG.Got to speak to almost 7 to 8 LG reps, spent almost 15-20 hrs on phone, every time diff. answers, even after 1 month 1 week, the problem never solved. They scheduled one more service call to same Goodman service company again for an urgent service request almost 4 days ago, but no response from them yet. Can you imagine how can one survive without a Ref during this Covid situations, in hot summer in Texas for more than a month with two small kids. Spent almost $2k, still in Warranty, bought extended Warranty, which of no use when needed. It has been terrible. Hope LG may take an appropriate action to resolve my problem ASAP...
Unbalanced all the time, recall no one notified me, rusting. Was told nothing could do within 1 year, now locked clothes in washer. Computer board down. Less than 4 years old... I have protection plan so we will see. Bought 9-2012, model wt101hv5, will follow up with results with plan coverage.
We bought a LG manufactured french door refrigerator from Sears in July of 2015 and it failed July 2020. Beautiful fridge to look at, but thats it. Firstly the freezer can no longer keep ice cream and certain other products. Secondly, the slim-line ice maker located in the door will not dump the ice in the container. Thirdly, the mullion (between the french doors) will not operate properly. The Sears technician came today found that the COMPRESSOR is failing and the BOARD is no good. To replace both will cost me about $900. He said LG is aware of these COMPRESSORS failing and that there is a class-action lawsuit against LG. My previous Sears refrigerator (manufactured by Whirlpool) lasted over 20 years. I have a number of LG products in my home, a television which works fine, two computer monitors which work fine, three window air conditioning units (two 8000 btu units and one 18,000 btu unit purchased in 2007). The COMPRESSOR on the 18,000 btu unit has been out for the last 7 years. I will no longer buy LG products.
We purchased an LG Counter Depth, French-Door Fridge (LFXC24726D) from Costco 21 months ago. We have been working through Costco Concierge Service, LG and our semi-local repair crew. The problem was diagnosed with a major leak in the system. The local repair crew replaced the compressor, two evaporators, and a dryer. The repair lasted about 24 hours. On the subsequent return visit, the tech checked for dye leaks on all of their solder joints. None were found and the tech deemed the fridge as not repairable. This fridge is still under Costco 2-year warranty, and it has been tough getting the repair/refund resolved. LG warranty support sucks -- even with Costco pushing them. As of this writing, we have been living with this defective fridge for 4 weeks! If half of the prospective refrigerator buyers shopping at Costco, Home Depot, Lowes, and Best Buy had a clue about the way LG handles their customers they would never consider anything manufactured by LG product -- NOTHING!
First, we purchase this refrigerator IMXS30776D is 2016. This refrigerator is barely three years old and $2800.00. This refrigerator has had all part replaced (the compressor twice). The technicians from A&E Factory Service deemed our refrigerator non-repairable. We called LG to see if we could get a replacement or refund. They said they needed information from the technician at A&E to confirm our refrigerator is non-repairable. Three weeks later, we have been passed back and forth between LG, SEARS the A&E. We made another attempted today to find out a status and were passed to SEARS Warranties department. They pretty much told us, No we are not replacing or refunding the refrigerator. I will not buy another LG refrigerator or any other product that LG makes. I will also pass on my experience to everyone I know and those I see shopping for refrigerators (Best Buy, Lowes, Home Depot which I frequently shop). Stay away from LG refrigerators!!!!
Freon leak and compressor failure within one year of purchase on LG refrigerator. Broken since 6/22/17. Getting fixed today 7/13/17. Had to move it out ourselves. Repair people do not move it. Imagine being w/o a new refrigerator for 3 weeks. Lets hope it can be fixed. Recommend: do not buy an LG appliance. Customer service is horrible at LG.
I bought an LG refrigerator, and for a while, I could ignore the occasional ice jam in the ice dispenser. After the warranty ran out, the ice machine started to freeze up weekly. I broke the container, trying to dislodge it from the door. So, I bought a new one and experienced the same freezing up problem from week one. I would not even consider buying this product, and it left me with a bad taste for the retailer (hhgreg). Can I rate it 1/2 star?
I purchased a LG refrigerator 4 years ago. Besides the fact it takes 2-3 weeks to get an authorized service call (not after a major catastrophe or storm, just in general), its going to take another 2-3 weeks to replace the compressor. The part is covered under LGs 5 year warranty, but the labor is roughly $600-800!! Thats outrageous for a 4 year old refrigerator thats supposed to last 14 years. I will NEVER buy another LG appliance again.
We exchanged a defective Samsung refrigerator for an LG 8 months ago and paid more for it as well. Right after Christmas found everything defrosted in our freezer and the refrigerator not working as well. Called LG and after waiting forever, told that nobody could come out for at least 4 days for repair. The repair guy shows up today to tell me the compressor is shot (again, after only 8 months) and he does not have one on his truck! He had 2 and used both this morning!! Now with the New Year Holiday one will not be delivered until next week and the repairman hopes he can get out to fix it then. After spending $2,800 I really didnt think Id have to be purchasing a mini refrigerator and loads of ice. Terrible product, worse customer service - save yourself money and DO NOT buy an LG product!
LG RANGE IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. The knobs on the front can go on incredibly easy. Just a light brush up on them and it turns the stovetop on. Ive burned plastic bags, pot holders, myself. I cannot understand how this is even legal? Im worried about a kid accidentally turning it on when Im not home. Make a fix before someone gets hurt.
My refrigerator is 5 years old (LFX28978ST/02). Purchased with every appliance as we were moving into a new home. Already went through one issue shortly after purchasing the fridge with the ice maker. They made it right, but the LG certified technicians had to come back multiple times because they really didnt know what they were doing. Now the latest adventure. Compressor went about a month and a half ago. Turns out the compressor has a 10 year warranty. Great, right? Not so much. Getting this problem resolved has been an absolute nightmare. After doing what they wanted me to (having a repairman come out), I found out labor was not included on the compressor. Fine. I found a very reputable company to inspect and agree to do the repair. Unfortunately, its a half a days work so talking $300-$400 just for labor. Decided to have it fixed rather than buy a new fridge.1st call - said I would have a response in 24 hours. 2nd call - said no, timing to hear something back is 24-48 hours. 3rd call - said no, timing is 3 days. 4th call - said no, timing is 3-5 days. I verified if the 5th day was guaranteed (in this case Friday). 5th call - said no, the day I called didnt count so need to wait until Monday. 6th call - show they called my repairman the day I called. (This would prove to be a trend-lies). 7th call - they called and left a VM to my repairman but left a wrong number to call back. Called back to get the number myself. They didnt have the number. They called my repairman (I dont know why - the customer service rep had no info for us) and he told them the same thing. Put in a request on his computer for service center to call my repairman back. 8th call - said they showed they sent out an e-mail with the info to my repairman (they did not).9th call - my repair man was on vacation so could not confirm anything until he returned. Heard nothing. Supposedly putting in their system to call him again. Nothing. 10th call - immediately asked for a supervisor. Transferred me to someone in the states (Huntsville, AL). She told me the other calls go to the Philippines and that the computer showed someone calling him the day I lodged the complaint (lie). Also told me my previous Confirmation/ID# (or whatever they call it) had been closed. Great! She opened a new number. This was Thursday the 17th. Told me my repairman would hear something in 5 business days and there was no way to expedite because there were so many people in front of me. Thursday should count as day one since I called in the morning. Nothing.11th call - Called back on Friday the 25th. Asked for a supervisor. This time did not get transferred to the states.I assume still the Philippines. Told me the computer showed they called my repair man the day I called the last supervisor. (At this point, I feel like they do this in their system in case they get sued so they can say... Look, we called him. He didnt answer. All lies) Promised someone would call my repair man in 30 minutes and an e-mail would follow. Nothing. 12th call - Called Monday the 28th (today). Again asked for a supervisor. Again, Philippines. Joe promised he would have my issue resolved and would not leave until it was. After missing 41 minutes of work, hung up on me. I guess the moral is, dont buy an LG anything! My stoves electronics are also starting to fail as well. They want you to give in so they dont have to ship a compressor that will probably fail again anyway, but Im not giving up. Back to the phone...
LG Washer WTS5070CW - 1) Extensive rust around bleach entry port. Per LG cosmetic very common complaint. Washer was 14 months old. 2) Residual bleach from previous loads ruins clothes in next load. 3) Not a true high capacity washer. Shakes violently. Drum had to be replaced after damage from violent shaking. I have read many reviews. Problems 1 & 3 are common. LG top loader washers are LEMONS. $649.00 wasted!
Did a large kitchen remodel about 3 yrs ago and bought all brand new top-of-the-line LG appliances... It has been a nightmare with every single appliance from about the first week through the first 2 yrs. Let me begin by saying that I traveled about 10 months straight every year and only home for the holidays. I live alone. My appliances get very very little use.The french door stainless steel refrigerator (dont have model numbers at the moment.. this is a review in general of my LG experience) had problems from day 1. The light bulb and fixture within the fridge burned so hot that it completely melted the housing within the first week. Warranty replaced it.... 3 more times with various bulbs. I finally left it out at the last time when the warranty expired. The next problem was the rubber seal between the doors. They constantly rub and fray over time and replaced twice... Again... This appliance gets VERY little use.The HE Washer and Dryer have been well below my standards. The washer seal collects water and becomes stagnant and smelly... making my clothes smell. I do very little laundry when home obviously. I have to completely clean and dry the ENTIRE washer before leaving town. The dryer has been the worst of it all and expensive fixes. Twice in 2 yrs the heating element pulled so many amps (I am an electrician) that it started an electrical fire through the power cord with the dryer. This burned the socket and the cord and had to pay for the heating element to be replaced both times as warranty had expired in 2 yrs. I have moved both units into the garage and purchased a good old standard set of machines and have had no problems since. The dishwasher.... oh man... this thing... I have spent more on repairs and replacement parts than the cost since the day the warranty expired. First the control board went out 2 times in 2 months of being home. Then, came out to a flooded kitchen 3 times in 2 yrs. This was from a faulty regulator in the dishwasher that allowed the water to flow to the drain in sink. With all of these great features in the dishwasher.... My dishes were constantly covered in dried soap spots using the recommended dish soap. I had a plumber come out to see if maybe the water pressure was too low to rinse and he actually had to back it off. The dishwasher gets the least amount of use... Already the racks have begun to corrode and rust through the coating even though it is rarely used. All in all with everything said and done.... the quality of these expensive appliances has been well below standards. Customer service I did not like as once the warranty is expired they practically disown their product and recommend local service and repair shops or retailers. The previous appliances were GE and Whirlpool that were 30+ yrs old when I got the house. Never an issue and they worked just fine. I know that LG will not be getting anymore money from me as I have become so fed up with the issues and the paranoia of failures from using my LG appliances that I have already decided to replace them all...I have enclosed the most recent pictures of the damage/issues that I could. The refrigerator picture shows the most recent fix and where it had started to melt the housing again. I do not have the old housings but this one was remounted (it gets so hot that it melts the plastic and starts to hang) by the service guy when he replaced the rubber seals about a week ago.The dryer picture is obvious. I have rewired the house long before the new appliances and luckily this 2 times issue did not cause damage to the wire or wall or breaker. The receptacle and cord are what burn up when the heating element first starts to heat up upon starting the cycle. The washer is obvious as this is the only issue for now. 3 yrs of owning this dishwasher and I have literally ran maybe 20 loads of dishes in that time. Again.... I was never home... and holidays are usually spent with family.
Weve had our top of the line LG washer for 5 years now, and it gets used almost every day, more than once. It always runs perfectly and does a great job of washing our clothes, and heavy bedding, and even rugs. It is a top loader and extra large capacity. It has an Inverter Direct Drive system. This is the best washer we have ever owned, and I would highly recommend it.
We have paid for 7 visits to have the door seals replaced since we bought the thing in 2006. At $110 dollars a pop and repair costs amounting to $180 each trip, we could have bought a new fridge. The shelving runners are really cheap plastic and break if you look at them so our drawers are tilted. I will never ever buy another LG. The parts are extortionate to replace and hard to get. The model of the fridge/freezer is LRFC22750sw. We are so disgusted with this abomination we will likely never buy anything LG again including TVs.
I have been trying to replace a broken shelf support in my 10 year old refrigerator. The part should cost about $20 and without it, the $2500 refrigerator can barely be used. I have found the part number and contacted everyone on the internet that claims to have one. One parts person told me that they had several in stock in past years but this was a high demand item and they could not get anymore. Universally I was told that the part is no longer available.I finally got through directly to LG customer service and (after being disconnected twice), was informed that LG does not make or keep parts past 7 years after a product was made. Nor did they have a substitute for it. They said I should call any local parts companies to see if they might have one lying around. I explained that no one has this in stock and asked to speak to a supervisor. The rep took my information and assured me that I would hear from a supervisor within 1 hour. That was two days ago. I have had a problem with a different (small) LG product in the past, but cannot believe how little they support their customer base. There is no way I could recommend to anyone that they should try this companys products.
Have owned this dishwasher for 18 months and has never, never worked properly. I have not once gotten a clean load of dishes from it, even with pot scrubber, extra rinse high spray. There has been water stuck in the filter, foul, foul odor coming from it. Was foolish for once and did not buy extended warranty, so now stuck with piece of junk. Have had the E1 error code on it, appliance repair came out, ran through their diagnostics and came up with nothing. Week later same thing.Have now been on many forums looking at other peoples same complaints. Worse thing is with that error code there is no shutting it off. Mine is hard wired and need electrician to come in to disconnect it. Spending more on repair people and electricians than the piece of junk is worth. Would love if LG sucked it up and came up with recall on this product $899 later and is piece of ****.
Bought LG washer and had nothing but trouble from the minute this washer arrived. The motor and tub fell out at our front door and had to get another machine. Then when the new machine got to our house - had ongoing water leaks and still is leaking water. LG will not fix it or repair it because they say its out of warranty now even though it was just fixed. Apparently there is no warranty on work performed by a service center? Shame on LG for not taking care of its customers, will be buying a different brand for sure.
I purchased my LG refrigerator Lfx31925sw/00 in 2012, paid 2700 bucks for it from Best Buy. After about six months I started to have problems with it. I called LG and they did some repairs on it. It worked for a little while. They had to come back out to do more repairs. This went on several times until the warranty ran out so I had to purchase a second warranty and finally LG sent another company out to work on it. They had several tries at it. Now that warranty is up and still not fixed I try to call customer service. They put me on hold over one hour, they never answered the phone. And to top it off this refrigerator is involved in a class action suit which hasnt helped me. Here it is 2017. This Refrigerator is a Korean company. Must be North Korea. All I can say is DO NOT BUY LG. You will regret it.
I was first attracted to this microwave in the store because it's very nice looking, brushed silver and black. Also the size is perfect for my mid-size kitchen. Not too big or small. Turns out this is a very reliable nice microwave. It has good power. Cooks everything perfect. Best one I have owned.
Purchased on July 2016. Stopped cooling on June 15th. Seems like after reading other reviews, mine is not so different. Compressor goes out and service call takes 2 1/2 weeks to fix. So LG built a bunch of refrigerators that last only three years. Wow, I have a Kitchen Aid that is still going after 19 years. Let’s see Canada or Korea. Would not buy ever again. Customer service horrible. Said they wanted feedback and haven’t heard a peep from them since.
We purchased LG front loading machine 10 years ago. For these 10 years we had 6 repaired done which cost us close to additional $1000. Today was going to be the 7 repair, however we found out that LG stopped offering parts for our model (parts discontinued). When I called LG customer service, instead of them offering solution, I was asked if I need a service to come and take the washer to a junkyard... People do not spent your hard earned money to buy from this company.
I purchased an LG washer and dryer at Sears in Overland Park, KS. I have had service out twice complaining about dirty, dingy clothes and a loud banging sound when the washer is filling with water. Both times, I was told to use a high efficiency detergent and 1-2 tablespoons of detergent. I have complied. My clothes are still dirty and dingy. We have taken to soaking the whites in the sink in a Clorox solution to bring them back. I feel as though I might as well get a washboard out and do the laundry by hand.I replaced my upright washer, which was doing a fine job, so that I could have a quiet washer. The noise is louder and the clothes are embarrassingly dirty to the point where I cannot wear them.Nothing has changed in our laundry, same clothes, same people and same amount of wear. We do not perform any manual labor that would create unusually dirty clothes. My husband uses his washables to lie on the couch and watch television. I am a homemaker who hires out all of the dirty work. We both do workout, regularly. In theory, we are a washing machines dream customers.I hired a plumber to deal with the loud bang in the pipes and he told me it was the solenoid. Today, the solenoids were replaced and there is no change in the loud banging in the pipes. If anyone in the house is asleep, the washer cannot be operated because of the very loud bangs.
I purchased the WT5101HW washing machine in September 2011. Within the first few months the door would not latch shut to operate. Fixed under warranty. Then there was the recall for extreme shaking. February 2015 the drain pump needed replacement to the tune of $350 for parts and labor. Now in March 2016 the machine refuses to balance, even when empty. Balanced loads have been a nightmare since the beginning and have gotten progressively worse. My machine goes off balance on every single load whether it is small, large or normal. Today is the final straw as it will not complete the spin cycle, even empty, to fully drain the machine. It just keeps dumping more water in to redistribute the load (even though the machine is currently empty). Its going to the curb and Im going back to Maytag. I will never buy an LG washing machine again.
Does not clean clothes. Had to wash a blanket 3 times and it still came out dirty. For the money I spent on this washer I thought I was buying a good product LG. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYBODY BUYING A LG WASHER !! VERY DISAPPOINTED! Owner manual does not tell you what all the controls do or how to operate them.
We purchase this Kenmore Elite 29002 top loading washing machine in 2012. After about 4 loads of normal, not grimy laundry, it began smelling very musty. (*We are very eat clean folks...no children in the house, etc). Called Sears, they sent out repair person twice; they looked at the drain mechanism, messed with the computerized controls and made all cycles longer; suggested we clean the washer every week with purchased $$ tablets.. So now the machine that was to save money by saving water (High efficiency)... Would now cost out to $ $15/month for cleaning tablets!! They should take it back and replace it with a better model!
I purchased an LG refrigerator (Model LFX31925ST) on Nov. 25, 2011. On Feb. 10, 2012 (less than 3 months later), the refrigerator stopped working. I called LG for repair and they sent a repairman 5 days later who told me it was broke (no **) and he would have to order parts. They were ordered 5 days later. 2 days later, I called the repair service, Expert Appliance Repair and they said one of the parts was backordered with no ETA. They suggested I call LG again to see if I could get an ETA or a replacement. I did this, and after a lot of stonewalling, I was told I was out of luck that I would have to wait on parts and that there was no ETA. I now have a refrigerator that broke down after a couple of months and have currently gone 12 days with no refrigerator. Never mind the cost of lost food/frustration. LG is the worst company I have ever dealt with.
My LG refrigerator has shown weird behaviors and lately ER CO on display and shortly stopped making ice. The biggest problem is that the LG service team have no idea of how to fix it and now after 6.5 months of 5 visits and over 12 hrs of phone calls, they have GIVEN UP asking me to buy another fridge. Here are the clear problems with LG tech - a) Tech is under skilled - Over the 5 visits, the technicians came up with different diagnosis. b) No follow ups - There were no follow-ups (I repeat no follow-up) from LG on the next steps after the tech shared the diagnosis info. c) No handover within their teams - Every time when I called their customer care, I spoke to a new person and I had to repeat the whole story again and was provided with new (and may times repeated) steps to follow. d) Tier 2 drops the ball - Very good on the phone, but once off the phone, no easy way to catch. e) Only escalations work - I took to the social media, only when I got their attention and someone senior started looking into the problem and whole history of correspondence.f) No outcome - But in spite of engagement from seniors, the problem remained unresolved and finally they gave up asking me to buy a new fridge.I lost 3 working days to attend the technician visit and over 12 hrs of office time on phone. Total $ equivalent of this time loss is over $5000. Highly recommend avoiding LG appliances.
As per other reviewers, this Dishwasher does not clean dishes even after running through a two-hour cycle. Have had a repair person out to inspect and cannot find the problem - just doesnt do the job. He commented that he has numerous other complaints that this product does not clean dishes. Neighbors also have the same product and are not satisfied with its performance. Come on LG - own up and do something to rectify a) the problem with the cleaning cycle and b) the length of time to clean, and c) how do we fix the problem without it costing MORE!
I am disappointed with LG Customer Service. I am a repeat customer and have been treated as though LG does NOT care. My dryer (purchased 10-17-2018) did not dry our clothes beginning on 7-8-19 (today is 8-6-19) and is still not working. I have had A&E Factory Service out 3 times already and is still not working. The first diagnosis (7-16-19) was it was a bad igniter. A new one was shipped and 9 days later the technician came out (7-25-19) to replace and behold the igniter that was shipped was defective. So a new one was ordered and is it is still not working. When the A&E technician came out today (8-6-19) he said he had a message from Stack(?) to further expedite the issue they would have a conference call with LG. Today it was determined that there MIGHT? be an issue with the control board. So to expedite this the A&E technician requested the part be shipped overnight. LG REFUSED to ship this overnight. I called your customer service number (800-243-0000) after an 1/2 hour on the phone they said they could not help and suggested that I call the parts department. In case you are wondering if you read that right, yes, I should call the parts department to try to convince them.Look I realize it cost a couple bucks extra to ship overnight, but after 29 days and is it is still not working, is this the kind of customer service one can expect from LG? So for that extra $5 is it worth it to LG to lose a repeat customer? Is it worth $5 to LG to have me tell others of my experience when asked by family and friends?
New LG washing machine default wash setting of NORMAL only fills tub with about 1/4 of water. I watched a complete wash cycle and some of the towels were never submerged in the water. They did not get sloshed or agitated in any water. They just stayed in a pile above the water line. This is terrible. I called LG and they told me that was normal for the NORMAL setting to save water. If I put a lot of clothes in the tub I have to choose the bedding setting so the tub will fill with water and the clothes then get washed properly. I am so sorry I did not check and observe this as my 30 day free return period has passed by just 10 days. I would definitely have returned this washing machine if I had known it doesnt have a means to sense how much water to put into the tub. Also trying to get service on their website is not easy. I will never buy any LG product in the future. LG = Living Good, well not for me.
Quite simply - THE MOST DANGEROUS OVEN... We have had 3 burns due to the smoothtop surface overheating during self cleaning cycle. If you have this oven - BEWARE. One burn was severe. The other problems, the touchpad works...then doesnt work. You never know when it will not comply. Tragically, Christmas dinner was 4 hours late due to this problem. If you cook on the burners and it gets too hot..the oven will not work....and vice versa. Had a repairman and he insists that the repair will cost more than the stove. I am hoping that others confirm they are having these nightmares!
Like the lighting; like the french doors; like the size. Have had problems with ice maker freeze up; frost build up around the door vents that feed the ice maker and most recently a complete failure of the cooling to both refrigerator and freezer compartments. Entire food contents had to be discarded. A major nuisance for a refrigerator with this price tag. Waiting for warranty repair. Will see how that goes.
I bought an LG refrigerator 3 years ago and have had nothing but problems. I have had techs out on multiple occasions. I will never buy anything with the name LG on it again. Between Sears screwing things up and LG not being able to build quality product I am once again out more money. I called LG and was told that I needed an order number after they sent the wrong parts to begin with. The rep from Sears said I should have had LG fix it and shouldnt have gotten the very expensive service plan to begin with. I called LG and they said they knew that the refrigerator was not quality but that they would only cover parts. I now have a broken refrigerator and no idea how to get it fixed. My advice is to never buy LG EVER!!!
