Older Bosch dishwasher: what is this part and how big a deal is it to replace it or have it replaced

As I was unloading the dishwasher tonight (not moving anything but had recently opened the door), there was a loud, sharp noise. It reminded me of the release of energy you get when a garage door spring breaks. When I went to close the door, it felt a little off somehow, so I opened it again and sort of dropped it, like some resistance that used to be there was gone. I opened and closed it again and this bit of rope and plastic pulley(?) fell out of the side.
I started the dishwasher to confirm that (1) the machine knows that the door is closed, and (2) the door really is closed and doesn't leak while the machine is running.
So it seems I could keep using it and just be careful with the door, but I'd like to fix it or have it fixed. Can anyone shed some light on the extent of my issue? TIA.
Edit: It doesn't look like my photos posted? I'll try to add them inline.

Answer:
From the images, cant even tell whats broken. If its the rope, thats an easy fix (aside from accessing the other portion).
