We purchased our ruud HVAC systems three years ago, HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT BREAK DOWNS. As far as I am concerned these systems are a JUNK!!! Do not waste your money Last won was a leaking Acoil. One thousand dollars out of pocket to repair

Hurray for Ruud. I’m so happy this turned out great. I was skeptical about replacing my air conditioner because the online reviews gave me the impression that there is nothing really worth the trouble out there. I got this Ruud because a friend of mine reassured me of its excellent services. For 7 months now the unit hasn’t given me any problems. Only had to fix it once and that was covered by the warranty.

Features that make an air conditioner perform well and last long are in each unit that Ruud makes, no matter the level. Quality matters to Ruud, so every system has optimized access ports for servicing, powder coated paint and rust-resistant screws. They also have an excellent SEER rating, and no unit is below 15.5.

I’ve owned my furnace for 8 years and I believe I’m still counting. I have never encountered any issues with the machine and I tend to think or negative reviews are all propaganda either by competitors whose intention is to bring down its reputation. Its price is also quite affordable in comparison with other heat furnaces of the same specifications and lower specifications across different brands. I can never compare this to my initial Amana heat furnace which was serviced as frequently as every two months and would definitely recommend this heat furnace to anyone looking to purchase a furnace anytime soon.

Things are going well so far. I haven’t had any trouble with the Ruud AC I bought. I got it 5 months ago to replace the old one which couldn’t cool the house anymore. Thanks to Ruud and a nice dealer here, I can enjoy the comfort of my home.

Installed a Ruud 50 gal electric water heater from Home Depot in March 2017. Came with galvanized input/output isolation nipples factory installed. Connected to my PEX plumbing with brass adapters, using teflon tape and paste. Within one year, started corroding and seeping at galvanized threads. Galvanizing on threads appeared to be extremely thin and did not last. Today (Feb 2019) paid plumber to come replace the nipples. Had to mail order special Ruud extra long nipples - non-standard size not stocked by any of several sizable plumbing supply distributors. They look to be exactly like ones that failed. Will these ones last? Lived in this house 43 years. This is my 3rd water heater. Never a corrosion problem with other isolation nipples. Why couldn't Ruud use good quality, standard length nipples that are locally available?! Disappointed!

My Ruud furnace is installed in the basement of the house. It is however too noisy and sounds more like a manufacturing room. When purchasing the sales representative assured me that the unit wasn’t any noise. So I thought this was enough reason to raise alarm. On calling the customer care service, they told me otherwise, that this was a usual occurrence. I still have to bear with the noise because I’m not in a position to purchase another right now.

I am nothing short of satisfied. Ever since I purchased this unit that is six years ago. My initial unit kept on leaking water making my house messy and one had to be alert always. I always called the technician to do repairs who later on recommended to me the Ruud unit. It’s highly efficient without too much cost of electricity. Its price was also quite affordable. Its installation was quite easy. Winters are no longer stressful for us. Ruud has been the furnace I’ve come across so far.

DO NOT BUY A RUUD!!! I splurged and bought the higher end unit. less than 2 years old and already I have an expensive repair. I live in VA so it’s not even a harsh winter. And the air filters don’t fit at all. Had a Trane for 23 years and the only thing I ever had to do was replace a capacitor one time. SAVE YOUR MONEY… BUY A TRANE

Ruud’s company slogan was once, “There are some things in life you can always rely on. Ruud is one of them.” While that was a long time ago, Ruud water heaters are still synonymous with quality and one of the most respected brands in the industry.

We have had the same ac unit for the last 18 years. After such a long time a replacement is usually a better bargain than repairing. So we went ahead and bought this Ruud. I like how quiet it runs. It functions perfectly and does take much to run so the utility bill is low. This is what good manufacturing is all about.

The most unreliable furnace I’ve ever come across. It has failed me in over three winters in which we literary froze. The first failure came when the circuit board had issues. The repairman has already had frequent visits to my house more than the mailman and pizza delivery man comes. I would have rather kept my old furnace instead of getting this Ruud which has been nothing short of a nuisance and less performance. I’m quite sure when replacing it I will not have Ruud among my options.

We had a few issues within the first year of operation with our water heater, tripping our breaker and electrician thought he figured out the problem with the unit, despite it being properly installed anyway. Last night upon returning from dinner we walked into our home full of an electrical burning smell. Through elimination the results were that our water heater had blown out its wiring on the front electrical panel, as we could see black smoke all around it and coming from the unit. The breaker had fortunately already tripped from the over load, but we turned it off and cut off the water supply as a precaution. We immediately contacted one of our electricians that is used for our company. He arrived today (following day). I contacted Rheem and the moment they heard the model number, he said, "Take it back to Home Depot immediately and they will replace it for you". After further investigation I discovered a recent total recall was issued for more than 54,000 units sold exclusively at Home Depot from 2014 to 2016 all for the same problem. Almost 300 reports have been made and one involving more than $5500 in damage.

I paid 5500 dollars for the ruud unit to be installed in 2016 , it has broke down every year since, service repair is out of site. Last year it broke down in Aug. (I live on the gulf coast, very hot) I was without air for 2 weeks. Coast around 800 to repair, this year during a cold spell it quit heating, repairman said coil was leaking and would cost around 900 to replace plus 200 for the service call. That is 1200 dollars, what next. If it breaks again I will have it taken out and sit it on my utility to. With a sign that says it is a pc. Of junk and pull it around everywhere.

I bought new high end 50 gal electric water heater. After cost of installing, the top element was not working. It seems company does not make sure all is working before selling. They were good to send a new heater element but took a week with no hot water and difficulty in installing with specialized tool that no suppliers sell because they used a non conventional screw size.

DO NOT buy a Ruud. Unreliable with error codes that even their factory and other trained techs can not resolve. Loud, constant malfunction, and other maladies too numerous to list. T971 applies most often.

We owned a Ruud electric 50 gal, water heater. We bought it in 10/2016. We had a leak and called Ruud yesterday to make a claim. Within 15 minutes we had a claim # and was told to return the unit to seller [Home Depot]. We did and picked up a new Ruud electric water heater. We decided to buy an upgraded Ruud and have hot water once again. All good. Based on OUR experience we give Ruud customer service and warranty 5 *****..

The temperatures can really go high in the summer days. You can’t imagine my frustration when my AC broke last summer. For about 2 weeks we had to go without any air conditioning. I was in a rush to get the problem fixed so I got this Ruud but I didn’t know much about the unit. Finally, the problem was solved but then I wasn’t sure the unit would hold up without breaking down. So far so good, haven’t had to do anything except routine maintenance.

Don’t buy a ruud heat pump i bought one in 2016. Warranty was 10 years (parts). It has cost me money every year, last year around 800 dollars this year they tell me it has a freon leak and to replace the part and freon will be around 1000 dollars. What next.
