What Do Oven Symbols Mean?
Posted On: July 20, 2021

Your oven most often used appliance in your kitchen, and over the years, it has changed since your grandparents and even your parent's days. Today, ovens are equipped with a lot more settings than what we know what to do with.

Every oven model is different, so not all of them will have the same symbols. But the following are a few of the symbols that you will find on every oven.

  • Lightbulb: This button will turn on your oven's interior light, making it easier to see inside your oven while your food is cooking.
  • Clock: For some models, this button can either start a timer or change the time.
  • Arrows: Like the clock symbol, these buttons are multipurpose for either adjusting the time or the temperature on the oven.
  • Single bottom line: Most often, the symbol for bake is a single line at the bottom of a square. Sometimes it can also be represented as a picture of a fan on specific models.
  • Single or double lines: Lines at the top of a square are the symbol for broil, which means that only the top of the oven is being used when the oven is on. A double line means the broiler is on high.

Every oven model is different, and some of the more expensive models come with a lot more features than your standard oven. And depending on your model, your symbols may vary from the ones listed above.

If you're unsure about where to find your symbols, you could always refer to the owner's manual for your particular model. And if you're looking to replace the oven you have or need help with any of your appliance needs, contact Appliance Helpers. We can help you get in touch with an appliance expert in your area.
