Why is my gas oven burning the base of my food

Gas ovens have become popular with homeowners because they can cook food more evenly than their electric counterparts. What also makes them popular is their stovetops can be used when the power goes out. 


But even gas ovens can have their problems, and one of these issues is the oven is burning the base of the food. There are a few reasons why your oven is burning your food. Remember to never attempt any significant repairs by yourself as it could lead to further damage or safety issues. 


Preheat times: When you preheat your oven, you are allowing the oven to reach the proper temperature before you start cooking. If the oven is slow to preheat, it can throw off the cooking temperature. The temperature sensor can cause this issue. Look inside the oven to see if it has worn out and replace it if needed.


Element: Another reason your oven is burning your food is the elements are worn out. Check for any signs of damage and replace damaged parts. 


Gas: A normal gas flame is blue. Any other color is a sign that the gas line is damaged. If you start to smell gas when you start the oven, turn it off immediately and call 911. 


Timer:  When cooking, time is of the essence, and if your digital timer doesn't go off when the time is up, your food will end up burnt. Replace the timer if defective. 


Vents: Dirty vents prevent can prevent proper airflow, which will impact the way the oven heats. When the oven has cooled, inspect the vents for any clogs both inside and out. 


Racks: Certain recipes call for the oven racks to be repositioned. Suppose the rack is not in a specific spot. For example, in the center, the dish will not cook properly. 


Hot spots: Sometimes, the issue can be caused by a hot spot as some gas ovens have them. Try rotating the pan a few times when cooking. 


Cookware: Another minor issue could be the baking pan or cookware. Old pans and cookware can cause uneven cooking. Replace any worn-out ones. 


Age: How old your oven is will also affect the temperature. Well-maintained gas ovens can last up to fifteen years. So, if your oven is getting up there in age, it may be time to replace
