Remodeled our kitchen back in 2007 and, without much research, purchased KitchenAid appliances. Always hearing the name meant upper end, quality products. The wake-up call should have been when I received a warranty extension notices in the mail after only two years. June 2011 both Deli/Crisper pans started freezing everything inside so I called Idlers, the dealer, and they sent out a technician. He told me, after checking with KitchenAid Tech Support, that the circuit boards needed to be replaced. Luckily the rest of the fridge worked cause it took eight visits and weeks to get the parts, and when they came the connectors didnt match up. Tech Support said they could not do anything else, the Idlers technician felt sad for us and actually cut off the connectors and spliced the wires one by one. Now the main circuit board is failing and I hate to think how much this will cost or how long this is going to take to repair. Did I mention this refrigerator cost $5,000 and does not come with outer panels? They have to be custom-made to match the cabinets.

We have had KitchenAid dishwashers for 20 years. I got this dishwasher three years ago after six months, it wasn’t cleaning the dishes. The repairman came out and told me that I was using the wrong detergent. I switched to Cascade. The fact that you need to buy a special detergent to go with these dishwashers seemed pretty peculiar, but I did it. Since then I’ve had a repairman out three times because it leaks, wasn’t cleaning the dishes, water wasn’t emptying, and now all of the wheels have dissolved and fallen off the dishwasher on the bottom rack. They have melted onto the drying bar. I am grateful they didn’t start a fire. The repairman came out and told me that I was using the detergent Cascade and that dissolves the plastic on the dishwasher wheels.... WHAT???? I finally called kitchenaid and she told me that have never heard of this ever happening and that my warranty was out. I told them that not have if any wheels on my bottom rack was inexcusable and I demanded they send me wheels. Finally they said they would. That was 7 days ago. They said they would send them but if I couldn’t put them on I’d have to hire someone, they would not pay for that. I am very disappointed in kitchen aid, and will never, ever buy another.

Tonight at 5:45 pm the inside glass of my KitchenAid Superba built-in electric convection single oven exploded with such force that the glass shot across my entire kitchen and into my dining room. I had the oven on and was baking fish at the time. Luckily, my baby had just moved from her usual place on the mat in the kitchen or else she would have been utterly disfigured and seriously injured by the explosion of glass. I immediately phoned KitchenAid and they said they could send a technician on Thursday, January 5, 2012. The technician has just phoned to say he would just replace the glass and that this happens 100s of time a week and there is no guarantee that it wont happen again. When I asked for some certainty that the oven would be safe, he said he wasnt the designer and it wasnt his role to tell me that the oven would be safe in the future, then he said he refused to do business with me and put down the phone. I am appalled. We escaped lithely this time, but there is no way I am prepared to let it happen again. I think everyone should know how unsafe these ovens are. KitchenAid needs to withdraw these ovens from sale and, for me, they need to return my money so I can go in search of a different oven. I will once again be phoning KitchenAid to find out what they will do about the situation. I phoned Trail Appliance Edmonton South but they said their technician will phone tomorrow. They, however, did not seem to realize how serious the situation is. Does a child or someone has to be seriously hurt before something happens to have this oven removed from sales?

We have a 6-year-old Kitchen Aid (subsidiary of Whirlpool) built-in refrigerator. It is now longer able to maintain the appropriate temperatures, and the problem has been diagnosed by the Kitchen Aid authorized repair service as a defective control board. Unfortunately, Kitchen Aid (and Whirlpool) made or obtained these control boards from a factory in Japan that was destroyed by the Tsunami (this was over two years ago). Rather than sourcing this part from somewhere else, Kitchen Aid has decided to tell its customers that they are on their own. The only possibility seems to be to remove the control board and ship it to a company (Core Centric) in Illinois to have it refurbished. If the part gets lost, or damaged, or is unable to be refurbished, you are just out of luck. I assume this is the same situation for other parts in Kitchen Aid and Whirlpool appliances, as I assume the factory in Japan made more than just one part. This is outrageous conduct on the part of Kitchen Aid - I thought there was a Federal requirement that parts be available for items manufactured and sold for at least 7 years. The tsunami was unfortunate, but surely two years is long enough for Kitchen Aid to have found a way to obtain repair parts for its appliances. This sounds like a great opportunity for a class action lawsuit against Kitchen Aid and Whirlpool. There must be lots of customers that have been harmed by their action, or inaction. In our case, we will end up spending hundreds of dollars sending the control board out to be refurbished, and probably going for an extended period without a refrigerator (cant work with no control board). If the control board cant be repaired (for whatever reason), we will have to purchase a replacement built-in refrigerator, and have our kitchen cabinets redone so the new refrigerator will fit - estimated cost of that would be $10,000 or more.

I build new houses and new high end rentals. We have in the past used KitchenAid Refrigerators and dishwashers and stoves. I have 20 year old KitchenAid appliance in my own house. I purchased a new refrigerator 2 years ago for a new house I was building. It lasted less than 5 months before total failure. KitchenAid eventually replaced it after I spent 8 hours on the phone. This week a 15 month old KitchenAid dishwasher stopped working. The failure rate for Bosch appliances is about 1/2 the failure rate for KitchenAid. Customer Service for the new KitchenAid sucks at best. KitchenAid is now owned by Whirlpool and cannot care less about the old customers. If you want reliability and customer service buy Bosch or Miele. If KitchenAid cannot warranty their product for both part and labor for 2 years do not buy KitchenAid. The old KitchenAid company and its products and customer service is gone.

Side by Side KSC24C8EYY01 - We put in a new counter depth KitchenAid refrigerator 3 1/2 years ago. The freezer recently stopped working for no apparent reason, then kicked back on after 24-36 hours. This has happened 4 times in less than 3 weeks. By the time the service man gets here to check it out, the freezer is back to working, and he cant find a problem. The 2nd time he called Whirlpool and went through an entire diagnostic testing and still found nothing. He thought the Whirlpool technician that he spoke to was not too bright, and actually rather rude and indifferent. The only recommendation they had was to replace the mother board for a cost of $800 - with no guarantee that replacing it will solve the problem - it was just a guess. The service man told us that he wouldnt buy a KitchenAid appliance for anything - their service department was difficult to work with and trying to get parts needed for repair can be a nightmare. We will NOT be repairing this refrigerator and we will NOT EVER purchase another Whirlpool appliance - EVER.

My KitchenAid KBRS36FMX02 refrigerator frequently was losing temperature and started making a high pitch humming noise. I called an approved KitchenAid service company to come take a look and it was determined it was the control panel. I was told by the technician that he would try a panel on his truck that supposedly would only work in my refrigerator 50% of the time. He uninstalled mine and replaced it with another that did not work. My old one was reinstalled and now is totally nonfunctional. I found this hard to believe that KitchenAid would have parts that would work only 50% of the time. I then learned that with the tsunami of 2011 the factory that made the control board in my fridge was wiped out, so no more control boards. So 5 years later, there still is no replacement? Shame on you KitchenAid.I was told that since my refrigerator is out of warranty that they have no solution but for me to buy a new refrigerator. The replacement cost of my built-in unit is approximately $7500.00. KitchenAid would offer not even a discount. So since they could not provide a $250.00 part for their product I have to buy a new fridge?? Very very poor! I would never buy a KitchenAid product ever again!!!

If youre thinking of buying KitchenAid major appliances, read the letter I recently sent to KitchenAid below. I got a legalistic form response offering nothing, not even an apology. They even got my name wrong. Never again.I am writing about a series of problems I have had with several large KitchenAid appliances. I have never written a complaint letter before, but the coincidental problems with your products reminds me of the planned obsolescence complaints from 30 years ago about American made cars. I thought about just posting all of this on the internet, but thought I should give you a chance to respond first. Here is my story. On December 2, 2004, I bought three major KitchenAid appliances as a part of a high-end kitchen renovation. A built in refrigerator was the big ticket item, but I also bought a gas stove/electric range, and a silent dishwasher, all brushed silver. Together, the three items cost me $11,494.35.Everything worked fine until this past spring, but within six months, all three appliances have had major problems. The compressor on the refrigerator failed. You covered the parts, but I paid over $600 in labor. A hinge on the door of the dishwasher rusted out, and I replaced it for over $300. Currently, the washer motor on the dishwasher is screaming every time it runs. Ive been quoted a cost of about $500 to replace it. What about the stove? This past summer the small control board (near the dials) failed, and I had to replace that at a cost of over $400. Last week, the large control board misfired, turning the oven my 16-year old daughter was using to make cupcakes on to clean mode, locking the door, setting the cupcakes on fire, and sending plumes of smoke throughout the house. Luckily, I was home from work with an injury, and thought to flip the circuit breaker. The fire died after about an hour, and the door opened when I put the breaker back on. I just replaced the big control board at a cost of over $500.All told, Ive paid over $2,200 to repair very expensive appliances that are less than 10 years old, and I still have a screaming silent dishwasher. How do you explain this? Planned obsolescence? If so, you certainly have the timing down pat. So why am I writing? I am hoping you will do the right thing by me and in making appliances that last. What is the right thing to do for me? Cut me a check for $2,200? Fix my dishwasher for free? Give me all new appliances and install them? Send me a letter of apology? Im not sure. I will leave that to you. I do hope someone responds. It might be cathartic for me to post a bunch of nasty reviews on the internet, but I hope there is a more constructive alternative.

Bought a KitchenAid model # kffs20EYBL00 in 2012. This refrigerator has given me nothing but grief since 2012. I bought an extended warranty on this refrigerator and glad I did, have had to use it numerous times. The back of the freezer will freeze up, makes this running noise that sounds like a motor is running and the upper refrigerator isnt as cold as it should be. They have had to repair this 5 times in 2012 to 2013. 2014 and 2015 probably 2 times and now 2016 we are getting repaired once again. I am very frustrated with this refrigerator. I not only have had issues with the freezer, but the shelving in this refrigerator is junk.I have had two shelves break so far. Its just junk! I dont recommend KitchenAid anymore. Maybe in the 80 and 90s this was a good brand but not any longer. Looking at buying a new one, hate too since this one cost me of $1600.00 and 4 yrs of grief. Stay away from KitchenAid and Whirlpool. They are made by same company from what I have been told by companies I am looking at for a new refrigerator!

This model KUDC2OFVSSO - has been terrible since day one. The only way it gets dishes cleaned, is by washing the dishes prior to putting them into the dishwasher. We purchased all KitchenAid appliances when we built our house in May 2010, after being told that they were top-of-the-line. Regarding our refrigerator (model KBFS25EVMS2) with French doors and freezer on the bottom thats been in the house for about 8 months, we noticed that the right side of its doors was not sealing properly. When I contacted the store about this, I was told that this is a typical problem with the French-door models. Should this not be disclosed upfront?! When I contacted KA about this, I was told that my refrigerator was out of warranty (date of purchase, not date installed) and they refused to help in any way.My problem with all this is my old refrigerator (Maytag) had it for 23 years, and I never replaced a door gasket or worked on it in any way. I dont know a door gasket should go bad in less than a year. Now being two years, it is crumbling and falling apart when you open the door. If you buy from KA or an approved service company, the seal is $199. I purchased one on the internet for $99 and replaced it myself. Buyer, beware! KA does not care about the customer, just the dollar! I will never purchase another KA brand or Whirlpool brand ever again, and I will make sure all my friends know about it too.

I purchased a KitchenAid 30-inch gas cooktop. The knobs overheat while cooking and require the use of an oven mitt to turn off. In the meantime, were stuck with a KitchenAid gas cooktop that is dangerous to use and could potentially cause serious burns while using the knobs. Run, don’t walk way from Goldstar and the purchase of any KitchenAid appliance. Their negligence and refusal to address a problem regarding possible injury is reprehensible. This is our 2nd Kitchen Aid dishwasher. The first lasted 15 years, which is why we went back to the company. The top rack on this one is plastic (terrible idea!) and had to be replaced. I went to the Lowes where we bought it and the new design is steel ball bearings - much better. But that leaves me and my family in the lurch with an $800 dishwasher that needs an upper rack every 2 years. Lowes and Kitchen Aid have not been helpful, I had to buy parts, $75, to install myself because I didnt want to pay an additional cost to have a repairman come to the house. I think either Lowes or Kitchen Aid should step forward with a better solution.

We built a brand new house in 2011/12. New house means all new appliances. Our KUDS30IXSS6 from Sears seemed like a great product at first. So quiet you sometimes didnt even realize it was on. But then the wheels of the top rack broke off one by one. I realized my brand new Hickory floor boards were beginning to warp - the leak apparently inviting a colony of ANTS to live under my dishwasher!!! And the control panel would stop working from time to time, only to magically start working again after a week or two - just as I was about to call in a repairman. Well it has stopped working again and after reading countless stories of people with the same exact experiences as mine, Im not going to waste my money getting it fixed because according to the reports of others it will only happen again and again. This dishwasher is only 3 years old!! Within the first few months the problems started. A $900+ dishwasher that is worth nothing but a headache.

We decided to purchase a Kitchen Aid dishwasher (KUDC10FXSS) to replace our Whirlpool dishwasher in the spring of this year. We have had nothing but problems with it. I noticed that it was running through rinse aid very quickly and then completely shut down. We were told that it needed a new control board, which was then replaced. It took three weeks to get this part in because it was on back order. Less than a week later, the rinse aid began pouring out from the dispenser, so once again a repairman came out and told us that we must have a bad dispenser so that was replaced next. Even with the new dispenser, I am now having to add rinse aid every two weeks and have a terrible film on my glasses and dishes. I called the business where we bought it and they sent out the same repair guy, who told me that he doesnt know why its going through rinse aid so quickly and that he would research it for me. Well, its been three weeks and no word from him or the business which he works for. We asked to replace this dishwasher because we think its a lemon and we were told that unless we have three separate incidents with it, Kitchen Aid will not replace it. We are very frustrated and will not buy any Kitchen Aid products in the future!

After looking at various makes and models of ovens online, we purchased/ordered our KitchenAid wall oven (KEBS107) back in August 2012, waiting for over 2 months for the actual delivery of the new oven. Over the next year and a half, we had occasional issues with the oven not heating properly - sometimes it would pre-heat quickly - sometimes it would seem to take a very long time to reach the desired temperature - especially if I was needing to change the temperature during use. After 16 months of use, the thermal fuse had to be replaced. Apparently the oven door has to be closed at ALL times, especially when broiling. Now, after two years of use, the oven is acting up once again and not heating properly. I purchased an oven thermometer to verify this. KitchenAid is going to cover this 2nd repair, even though I was told that my ESP was not currently in effect (which is another frustrating story that I wont go into). I am thinking at this point that there is a major design flaw with this appliance. Having any sort of electronic/module located just over the opening of an appliance that can get very hot was probably not a good idea. If I cant open the door of a hot oven to check on or remove the contents inside, what good is it????? This oven has been nothing but frustrating pretty much since we bought it!

Do not buy if you think about service and warranty. I got it and had issues from the first month. I neglect to report it timely. I rented my house and my tenant started using it. They had the same problem. We called the service. They said there was a delay receiving hot water: we need to reset it. They charged me $120. In two weeks this time, they said motor is faulty and it is out of warranty. I decided to get rid of it and purchased a new dishwasher. They did not responded positively. I even told them to come and check if the machine has factory faulty. They said no. DO NOT BUY IT. I had a much better warranty experience with other companies.

KitchenAid® 27-Inch Single Wall Oven, Architect® Series II - I purchased this Oven October 5, 2013. It was installed October 24, 2013. On December 31, 2013 it stopped working. I called for service and they could not get to me until January 6, 2014. The serviceman came out that morning and took a look at the oven and found that the fuse had blown in it. Lucky me they did not have one in stock and they had to order one. The fuse came in on January 8, 2014 and they came out and installed it. I did not use the oven again until January 14, 2014 because of some other issues in my kitchen. January 14, 2014 I turned it on and used it to bake something. It worked fine. I walked away from it after I was done baking and came back about 45 minutes later and it had died again. It will not come back on. My guess is that it is the fuse again. I would not recommend this oven to anyone!!!!! At this rate I will have a serviceman at my house every week to repair this oven. I called a supervisor at Kitchen Aid January 16, 2014 and they want me to keep the oven and they want to extend the warranty. This will happen when some place freezes over!!!!

We bought our KitchenAid dishwasher 11 months ago. Its one of their more expensive units, at $1300+. During those 11 months, weve had 10 repairmen visit. The appliance is now on its 3rd new controller unit, and its just failed again with the exact same fault - it locks up, with the front panel becoming non-responsive, and requires power cycling from the fuse box; and/or it aborts the wash part way through. Also, the plastic fittings on the racks have deteriorated, such that they have become brittle. On the top rack, and after only gentle use, the retainers for 3 out of 4 of the wheels have snapped, causing the rack to fall off its runners in all but the lightest of breezes.Ill also add that the customer service from KitchenAid is diabolical. The first repairman was openly rude and hostile, and also failed to show up for 3 appointments, costing me time off work. After insisting on a different repair company, it still took another 6 weeks to have the controller unit replaced. Weve fared a little better on subsequent incidents, but not much. Before this, I had a GE unit, which worked without a single fault for 13 years. I really regret not fixing the pump on that GE unit, because it would surely have been cheaper and infinitely more satisfactory than the junk from KitchenAid that Im stuck with now. So, my advice to anyone shopping for a dishwasher, avoid KitchenAid, Kenwood, Whirlpool like the plague.

The repairman came a week later and advised they would have to pick up the fridge and take it to the shop and that we would be without a fridge for another week. The fridge is only 10 months old and KitchenAid is arguing about the warranty on it. I am totally fed up and would not recommend them to anyone.

Kitchen Aid used to be the best out there. Now they are worse than GE. Since buying my Kitchen Aid appliances in 2014 I have had nothing but problems with each piece. My compressor has gone out of my refrigerator twice, The dishwasher top racks just disintegrated, the microwave plate cracked within a week and now my oven wont work. When I go to preheat it, the message reads That function is not available. I am replacing every piece after the first of the year and I will never buy kitchen aid again. Company could care less and when you call to ask what could be wrong they want to get a credit card so you can be charged for their help. Very embarrassed I even have Kitchen Aid in my home. Not respectable, well built appliances anymore.

It was terrible. I purchased a dishwasher (model KUDS30CXWH) 10 months ago, and its been one problem after another. After a few months, the buttons stopped working. A few months later, it would rinse, then the rack wheels broke, and now it wont run at all. I replaced the card but I needed a bar. Of course, it takes a week to get the bar. KitchenAid doesnt care.

KitchenAid fridge model #: KFIV29KPMS03, S/N K43117611. Delivered: 9-16-14. Price: $3,038.00, including $ 199.99 for five year warranty. Issue: Defective freezer seal causes frost ice accumulation, see photo, below. 1st warranty call to KitchenAid 10-22-14 recd appointment for 10-27-14. Repair tech made a few adjustments. 2nd warranty call 11-12-14 recd appointment on 11-14-14. Repair tech said the seal looked good and, based on his experience, the factory fix was to put silicon sealant on the fridge to seal any seams or gaps. He was correct. My position: I expressed to the repair tech and to the factory trouble call reps that silicon sealant is not a permanent fix. The freezer seals installation, or seal design, or seal installation, or structure alignment, or something else was defective and that I was not in favor of applying silicon sealant to fix a manufacture defect. I also called RC Willey, the place of purchase and where I also purchased a five year warranty and expressed my issues. They deferred to the factory. If silicon sealant fixes this defect, why dont the display/floor models have it on them?Photo 11-14-14. Can anything be done to force KitchenAid to replace this obviously defective product?

The door malfunctioned after just a few months and now the dishwasher smells terrible as it doesnt clean like its supposed to. The misaligned door is 1/3 inch off with the misaligned drawer. It looks like a half inch when looking at it. KitchenAid said it was within company standards and Spencers said if they took everything back people complained about, they would have a warehouse full. KitchenAid Dishwasher (KUDS01FLBL6) Motor Failed - Our dishwasher is only 7 1/2 years old and is typically used only once every two weeks, lightly at best. The motor has failed. The replacement/repair will cost approximately $300. Even more unfortunately, this is the second repair weve had to make on this machine. There also seems to be a pervasive problem with the control boards catching fire although this model has not yet been recalled. Itll probably have to catch fire in order to get assistance from KitchenAid customer service. This product seems to have been engineered to fail. In the future, Ill choose a different brand.

We spent $665.11 on a microwave that lasted 1 year and 2 months. As is does not fall into their 1 year warranty, they refuse to help or compensate in any way. We had the same issue with a $900 dishwasher we purchased from KitchenAid a couple of years ago. BOTH appliances stopped working after exactly 1 year! It would seem that they are in the business of manufacturing CHEAP China appliances that break shortly after their warranty so you must purchase another one.Customer service is no help at all. They just read from a script repeating the same sentence over and over again. Other companies like Black & Decker and GE have much better customer service and ability to help customers when their products do not work. Would shop from them instead! Our KitchenAid dishwasher W10321621D has to be located just below the busiest food prep/washing counter. After starting, it appears if theres the slightest bump against the washer, it will shut off - all lights go out. It wont even hold the point where it needs to resume. We have to put in more soap and restart the process. Sometimes we dont realize what has happened until the next day. A younger family member will open the dishwasher. Ill start unloading and then realize the contents are still not clean, figured out what happened, and then try to figure out what has to go back in! Very aggravating. It could have something to do with the exposed touchpad on the front, even though we have been so cognizant not to touch while running. We now have to put a chair in front of the dishwasher every time it runs to make sure no one goes within 2 feet of it. Hard to work around.

Oh they cant do that, they only repair their screw ups not replace them. I would love to get a class action lawsuit going. We spent more than $2000 for a piece of crap. I know reading other problems that others have spent much more. The company that is ruining the KitchenAid name should be put out of business. They used to be a high end appliance. They agreed to supply the new parts but we would have to pay for the labor. Their factory service representative is not a company but rather a scheduling service for independent technicians. We were quoted a very high price based on a take-it-or leave it basis. We paid, but this is a very unfair company policy given that the company knew that it had a problem. I bought this expensive piece of crap in November 2017 and it hasn’t worked since day one! I have repeatedly called the 800 number with no satisfaction. The first time it took them 6 months to get the part they said was not working and when they finally showed up yesterday May 25 it only worked a few hours and died again. I called service again and they refuse to give me a new refrigerator and couldn’t come out today to fix it even though I have once again lost everything in my refrigerator. The person named Pat on their service line refused to transfer me to someone with any decision making authority and refused to do anything more than schedule service again. I will never ever buy KitchenAid again and believe me the world is going to hear about this. We purchased a nearly $4000 KitchenAid refrigerator on May 22, 2019 (KPFC704FSS). Within a year (June 17, 2020, the ice maker stopped working and the refrigerator stopped cooling. During the course of the next two and a half months, a new compressor was installed. The fridge began to cool again, but no ice was being made. A new ice maker was ordered, but Whirlpool initially refused to provide it at no charge. Eventually, the company relented and a new ice maker was installed on July 16. Within days of installation of the ice maker, there was still no ice being made. After more phone calls, we were offered a voucher for a new refrigerator of any kind or a new KitchenAid fridge identical to the one we had. We agreed to a new KitchenAid refrigerator be delivered. BIG MISTAKE!After no delivery or delivery notice for three weeks, on August 17, 2020, a call was made to the appliance store to determine the delivery status of our new replacement refrigerator and we were told to call back on September 16 —perhaps by then a there would be an answer to our question of ‘when?’ Presently, there is no known delivery date; not even a known month of possible delivery. Throughout the past three months, and who knows how much longer, the appliance store has continued to do its best; however, KitchenAid/Whirlpool has failed all ‘reasonable standards’ of good corporate consumer service. Never again will a Whirlpool product be purchased by us.

We bought all new appliances 4 years ago. The salesman at the appliance store said KitchenAid was the best. Well apparently he must get a kickback from them because nothing could be further from the truth. In fact the KF1S29BBMS00 french door refrigerator actually sucks! Shortly after we had it the freezer stopped freezing. At least this was covered by a recall. Now, the unit is 4 years old, the ice maker stops working. We called the repair place and they came out and very cavalierly said, Oh yeah there is a service bulletin on this. You need an add on kit to stop the unit from freezing up.OK to my thinking service bulletin is an admission of wrongdoing. Poor design in the first place. So since the unit is out of warranty and we chose not to pay for a ripoff extended warranty we have to pay over $430 to fix what was not designed right in the first place! How can this be our fault? Why would we need a warranty to cover a design flaw? Now while waiting for the repair person to come back with the part that they had to order the drawer in the freezer will not freeze. The lower main compartment is fine but the door will not freeze. DO NOT BUY A KITCHENAID APPLIANCE. Their poor design and engineering becomes your problem.

I’ve had the cooktop, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, and microwave for three years. THREE YEARS!!! The refrigerator stopped cooling. The next day the freezer stopped freezing. We waited five weeks for the one and only repair company in our area, Guinco, to come out. Was told that a part, which was no longer under warranty $507, had malfunctioned. Waited another four weeks for the part to come in. When the part arrived they put it on and then discovered the condenser, which thankfully is under warranty, $1,000+, was no good. So now we’re having to wait another six weeks for the new condenser. Practically four months. That is totally absurd. Why they feel only one company in my state is authorized to work on these substandard appliances, I don’t know. Luckily we have an older refrigerator in the garage. My husband went out and bought a portable ice maker, also. I read on the website that Kitchenaid/Whirlpool products can last between 15-17 years. If that’s the case for the “few” products that do not last longer than three years, it should be an automatic replacement. That would be excellent customer service. Do not buy this product. Run, do not pass. Go as far away from this cheap as heck product. The product “looks” fabulous but it’s all a delusion. Again, RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM THIS CRAP PRODUCT.

I purchased this stove because it had a very large oven and I bake. Two weeks after installation I realized when I leaned up to get something from the cabinet above the stove I turned on burners, sometimes just enough for a gas leak and sometimes enough to burn my arm. First problem with design. A month later at Thanksgiving the turkey was in the oven and my grandson touched a knob with his arm and actually burned it. Thats how hot the knob. I see were due to a vent directly below them. Second design flaw.Later that afternoon. We realized the turkey wasnt getting done. Oven turned off by itself. Luckily I have a second oven. Very nice competent repairman (outsourced) checked the temperature of the knobs and they came in two degrees under government top number. He replaced an oven valve. This valve was replaced three times before the oven would function without failing. I took these safety and oven problems up with KitchenAid only to be told they were within government standards and be glad I bought a warrant for the oven. Cold, disrespectful and dismissive people. We bought a stainless steel, built-in KitchenAid dishwasher about two years ago when we were renovating our kitchen. It has been a huge disappointment ever since. It doesnt actually clean the dishes, no matter what setting we have it on. It leaves bits of food and random stuff on everything. It smells like rotten eggs when it runs. Plus, it runs for hours and hours - why? It does not effectively dry the dishes. We have had it serviced at least three times with no real improvement. Really, at this point, it is just a glorified dishrack and we end up washing almost everything by hand. Cost over $500 and is worse than the $200 dishwasher we had before. Our only option was to send the control board to Chicago for repair and have the fridge / freezer out of commission for 3 to 4 weeks, also we had to sign some kind of a liability waiver. I thanked the service man and advised I would get back to him, then I started to surf the net and after some time I came across this web site and thankfully the blog from Chris in North Van. I live in White Rock and if I knew your address I would drop off a very good bottle of wine on my way to Whistler. Thank you, after reading your info I asked the service man to come back and remove the board. However he said he was prevented by Whirlpool / Kitchen Aid from doing this unless it was sent to Chicago. I contacted another excellent service man who is independent and had him do the removal. I would say unless you are very mechanical you would be better to go this route. He also advised that it was often the evaporator fan that caused the circuit board malfunction. Once it was removed I found it to be exactly as per the photo from Chris. I was able to locate the capacitor from SMI Industrial Electronics in the nearby suburb of Langley, it is a 22ouf 10X12 HI TEMP CAPACITOR 85 o and cost the princely sum of 36 cents (I even purchased a spare). I then took this to an electronics repair man who tested and removed the defective capacitor and installed the new one in less than 5 minutes, he would not even accept any payment. I would advise that unless you are used to working on circuit boards and have a very fine tipped soldering iron I would use an expert, even if he charges you. It would be easy to short out the wires with too much solder. I took this home and the service man came back and installed the circuit board and a new evaporator fan which for some reason is a stock item and in about 1/2 hour the fridge was humming, no chirping and we were able to set the freezer for 0 F and the fridge for 37 F. The temperatures both initially read the 70 F air temp. but started to fall quickly and a few hours later we heard the first ice being made and everything is working just fine. Our total bill including the fan was $260.00. Thanks again Chris, and like you I am amazed that the so-called help line would not advise of this. I am fairly certain our first service man knew of this option because when I told him about the info from Chris he was not the least bit surprised. He probably would be blacklisted if he went against the companys policies. Good Luck!

On January 22, 2014, we were sold a used, returned, older model and/or LEMON KitchenAid Dishwasher without our knowledge by Pacific Sales Kitchen and Home in Oceanside, California. We are requesting that KitchenAid stand behind its products and repair or replace our nonworking dishwasher for no charge to the buyer. We purchased a floor model for $931.54 including $100 installation and were informed by Pacific Sales Kitchen and Home that this dishwasher was brand new and in perfect working condition. This dishwasher was installed in a two person household and has been used less than 50 times since the purchase date. The correct detergent and rinse aid have always been used and the filters have always been kept clean. This dishwasher has never cleaned the dishes properly and stopped working all together on September 9, 2014. We contacted Pacific Sales Kitchen and Home to request a service repair and they instructed us to contact KitchenAid directly. It was then we were informed by your company that the dishwasher we purchased was actually four years old and had gone through two previous owners. We contacted Pacific Sales Kitchen and Home and they said this was not true and that they would handle the service repair themselves at no charge to the buyer. We told them that we did not believe them and that we wanted a brand new replacement dishwasher immediately. They would not comply and only offered to make the necessary repairs. So, with great hesitation, we agreed and they replaced the broken main board, which allowed the dishwasher to function, but still not up to par. Then in November of 2015, the dishwasher stopped working altogether once again. The dishes actually run through the entire cycle now, but they are dirtier than when they went in. The water appears to be lukewarm only during the wash cycle and the rinse dispenser does not function properly. It has read full for over a year now without adding any additional rinse aid. Furthermore, the soap dispenser appears to not always open during the wash cycle as well.We spent $931.54 on a KitchenAid Dishwasher less than two years ago and as of today, we do NOT have a working dishwasher. Again, we are requesting that KitchenAid stand behind its products and repair or replace our nonworking dishwasher for no charge to the buyer or we will be forced to take further action at this point. Thank you.

Purchases and installed 2/2015. Been using the top oven. Went to use the bottom one Christmas day, it kept blowing the fuse. Cant understand what is going on. I have read reviews of the oven shutting down when cleaning both but not using. If this is the case, why isnt there a recall on these ovens? Spending over 2600 on oven, you expect it to work and the problems getting solved but its not. Unfortunately Kitchenaid was closed but I plan on getting this problem solved or they can pick it up and dump it. Hum. American made. Theyre not being tested before selling them. Sorry I am not a big fan of Kitchenaid. At this time wish I had my Jenn-Air back. Old faithful never let me down. Merry Christmas Kitchenaid. Hope your ovens work today.

To KitchenAid Dishwashers: Compliments and thanks! KitchenAid has stepped up big time, so I want to update my November 7 negative review of dishwasher model # KDFE204EWH. This morning, we got a very nice phone call from KitchenAid’s customer care people. They will pay for the part replacement and the installation labor. In a happy coincidence, their local authorized service operation happens to be the same (first-rate) dealer we bought the dishwasher from, so I know the follow-through will be there. Two takeaways: At least one of the “squawking platforms” that we used for our complaining this past week did the trick, so complain widely! And It likely also helped that we promptly registered our purchase with KitchenAid, so they already had all the details.

I bought a KitchenAid dishwasher not quite a year ago. My stainless steel door is streaking and looks very very ugly. We have only used professional stainless steel cleaning products. It is unfixable. Being under warranty, I called the company. It is not covered because it is a cosmetic problem. We figured out the dishwasher is leaking and causing the problem. Still not covered. I am very disappointed. Never ever buy Whirlpool or KitchenAid again. I bought a Whirlpool fridge 5 years ago and they have been out 6 times to fix that.

We purchased a KitchenAid double oven with the construction of our new home. Commencing with the installation there was nothing but malfunctions with the oven. The fan was bad; control board went bad and most importantly (and never satisfactorily resolved) the oven consistently failed to preheat at the correct temperature or to cook evenly. The oven consistently overheats between 40-50 degrees. Several holidays were less than satisfactory due to the condition in which the food was cooked. The oven was serviced several times over one year and problems were never resolved. Before warranty ended, demanded oven be replaced because lemon and was refused. Told the uneven temperatures and cooking was the way it was suppose to function. Not if you want to follow a recipe, it isnt!!!

I bought a brand new KitchenAid dishwasher in Nov 2016. The one with the window on front door. Gave trouble within a week. Waited 2 weeks for a serviceman who said pump was faulty. Said it would be another 2 weeks before that arrived. In meantime I insisted on Best Buy (where I bought it) giving me a new one. What a saga. A month later the new one eventually arrived. Guess what? Within a week same problem. Repairman again. Pump faulty again. Another 2 weeks. Pump replaced. Within a week same problem. Contacted KitchenAid direct which is really Whirlpool. Awful customer service. Scheduled a replacement this week but failed to keep appointment. Got a few hours notice. Theyre giving me another new one. Have told them this is the last one. If this one is crap like the last 2, then they just take it away. Not getting another. No appreciation of fact that a family of five have been washing dishes by hand for several months while $1200 piece of crap sits in our kitchen.

We bought all KitchenAid appliances when we moved due to their reputation for quality. We didnt get it. The refrigerator has leaked (a recall that we werent notified of) and it marked our hardwood floor. The ice maker quit and now the deli door has broken off. The gas cook top hums all the time and the double oven heats slowly and cools with a noisy fan for a long time. It also snaps and pops when heating and cooling. Our dealer says this is normal. Im writing this so people dont pay extra for KitchenAid quality that is no longer there.

My parents purchased a KitchenAid refrigerator model number KRFF507ESS01 six months ago. In that time the ice maker has never worked correctly and it has been broken twice, causing them to throw all their food away. The first repair took 10 days. They are now waiting on the second repair and it has been 8 days and they cannot get anyone out here for another 9 days. They purchased a top of the line stove, microwave, and mixer at the same time. They spent a lot of money and the customer service is terrible. They have had to buy coolers and countless bags of ice to keep food in the house. I asked the customer service rep what they needed to do to have a new unit sent out. I was told, Nothing, your parents signed the extended warranty which states repair, it doesnt say replacement. Im sorry, but where on that warranty did it say that you were selling them a piece of crap? Very disappointed.

From the day we received our fridge we had problems: the doors wouldnt stay closed. If the right door only was open, then shut, the left door would pop open. There was condensation running down the flange between the doors constantly. In the morning wed come down to the kitchen and find a door slightly open even though it was closed when we went to bed. We had about 10 service calls for the fridge with the door issue in the first year and nothing ever was solved. Hinges were replaced, the fridge was re-leveled, moisture setting adjusted and so on, over and over again. What is the definition of insanity...doing the same thing over and over again know the results will be the same. This was what was happening because all the servicemen did the same thing over and over again without any different results. How much time can a person take out of their day to deal with such nonsense?I started asking for an exchange about half way into the process of service calls and was refused. I kept arguing we have a food safety issue here and this didnt seem to mean anything to anyone. I also tried getting to speak with a supervisor. Denied. Finally, just as the fridge was 1 year in my kitchen I managed to speak with someone who made an exchange finally happen. This refrigerator actually has doors that close, stay closed so therefore we dont have the condensation issue. The bottom line is that I had a lemon and everyone passed the buck to try and avoid exchanging the fridge. I will never purchase another KitchenAid product again. Look for my oven review next.

Do I have to give even one star? I would rather have neon or negative stars. I purchased the full range of KitchenAid equipment (microwave, dishwasher KUDS02VR and gas range, architect II). Fortunately for us, we also purchased the extended warranty even though I thought with top end equipment we probably would not need it.The microwave has had multiple call outs over the 4 years of owning the piece: F2 errors, cooling fans that dont just turn on but partially start then stop then start for a second then stop and start for 10 minutes or so at a time. Its driving me nuts! The dishwasher has trouble cleaning anything. It leaves dishes dirty and the glasses have developed white film on them. Dishwasher has gotten clogged and according to the technician because we have the audacity to use it . We now use dishwasher magic every month.Range oven: First of all, the door lock keeps locking with an error when you use the oven above 400F and you cannot open the oven door until it has cooled down and you reboot the system by removing power, this you have to do multiple time before the door complies. We replaced locking mechanism, now it seems to work at last. Secondly, every time you use the clean oven function, the electronics go on the frizz. Now, we are without an oven again for a week while we get a technician to come again to look and hopefully fix the electronic issue.Through all this (including digital movies of the issues, pictures etc., sent to KitchenAid), the general response has been that all equipment works as designed. Works as designed! They should fire the designers and send the specs to some elementary school kids who could do a better job!I, for one, hate KitchenAid and will never buy another product from them again and will tell as many people as I can how lousy their products are.

When we were in the market for a dishwasher, we mistakingly took the word of an employee of a big box appliance store on the suggestion of the best mid-range dishwasher. Big Mistake. We literally wash our dishes before putting them in the dishwasher and then we have to scrub some of them after they are washed in the dishwasher. I think we mainly use it for glassware...it is not capable of cleaning anything beyond glasses that have held mainly just water. This is, without a doubt, the worst appliance I have had the misfortune to own. Cannot wait for it to totally die so I can replace it.

I purchased 3 new KitchenAid appliances after having my Sears brand for many years 20 plus and not having one issue with them in that time period. I have had my KitchenAid appliance for less than 3 mos when I started to have problems with the french door model making funny loud noises when making ice. It took 3 service calls before they could resolve the problem. Now after a year, it is doing it again. Called the service dept and they are less than helpful to help remedy the problem, which is a defect from the start. My KitchenAid double oven after 6 months needed repair. During a Thanksgiving meal, it refused to heat up to the desired temperature needed. Again, another call to service man, time off from work to wait. The problem was covered under warranty. It took the service department two times to get the problem fixed. This should not be happening to a new appliance, unless it is terrible workmanship from the factory. Now, after a year and a half, my KitchenAid dishwasher is having leakage problems. It has not paid to spent the money they ask for these appliances and get such faulty appliances. NEVER AGAIN KITCHENAID!

KitchenAid 30 free standing gas range with double oven bought. Beautiful to look at BUT! Have had less than a month and many problems. First gas leaks (they were repaired). My one time to use: baked an apple pie in bottom oven. Preheated to 450, baked pie for 15, then reduced to 350 for 45 minutes. During this time the vent blew so hard on top right burners, it got the top range very hot and impossible to use right burners (vent blew the flames... dangerous). Also top right side got extremely hot... not operating correctly at all. Now dealing with Whirlpool Corp Safety Dept to get them to take this range back... scares me to even think about using it... NOT using it... it is a lemon!!! They say must process/have evaluation by technician and then 3 to 4 weeks to process. BS!!! The order # is the no. with Whirlpool Corp Safety Dept. 553 Benson Road, Benson Harbor, Michigan 49022.

New fridge delivered 1/30/19. 2/9/19 freezer completely covered in ice, day 15 freezer still not properly working. Called Kit Aid/Whirlpool & they said “we’re slammed”. They couldn’t tell me if it was in warranty. Told me to look at my manual. After many calls, a new fridge was delivered. They took fridge out of box to find one upper door was significantly damaged. Their answer was to take door off the one being returned & replace the damaged door. 8 months later freezer items are melting & refrigerator temp goes to 45 degrees. Thermostat is replaced. January 2020 freezer drawer & ice very loose. Won’t stay in place- another service call. February 2020 everything in freezer is melted again-another service call. Now, there is rust on the outside of the freezer door, and the top left door doesn’t seal well at all. The seals on both sides are torn. I was told that might be expected on a 15 year old appliance but certainly not on an 18 mos old fridge. I suspect when they swapped out the door from the broken fridge it didn’t fit correctly. Also, KA said I must have used abrasive cleaners & brushes for the rust to appear. That has never happened. We have been extremely careful to use only water and soft cloth to wipe. Their insinuation is insulting.I have been given names, emails, phone #s at Whirlpool, at All South Appliance etc. The customer service is lousy, non-exsistent in fact. After sending multiple pictures to different people, I have been told they cannot extend warranty coverage (I had been told twice that was probably how it would be handled). To say I am irate is an understatement. Never buy a KA. It doesn’t matter that you spent $3000 for what you expected to be high quality. It is junk and corporate KA/Whirlpool could care less.

22.6 ft counter-depth model ksc23c8eyy02 - Weve had this fridge for over a year and after the third service call, should have sent it back as a lemon. We bought a Kitchen Aid because the one we were replacing is a 17-year-old Kitchen Aid SuperBa thats now in our garage, still working. Number of service calls in past year: 3, soon to be 4. We bought a Lowes extended warranty so I have only been dealing with Lowes contract service, not KitchenAid. I have no complaints about KitchenAid service, just the quality of their product.Pros: I gave it an extra star because its so pretty. Cool functionality, easy to keep clean. Stainless surface will hold magnets, too. Cons: Ice maker has only worked twice. Ice freezes into a large block since its on the door. We buy ice and pour it in, but the ice dispenser freezes up and does not dispense at all. Lowes contracted service technicians replaced the ice maker at 5 months after purchase and it worked for about a month before it stopped making ice again. I have not had time to call and take a day off work for yet another service call. Water dispenser doesnt work unless fridge temp is set above 40 F. The technician explained that the engineering is such that the water line is too close to the coils as it passes through the fridge and it freezes. So, the water line freezes and does not work unless you keep the fridge above 40F (and then the milk goes bad before the date during the summer months). The doors are not balanced or smooth in closing and the freezer door has been left a crack open several times because you have to push it to make sure its closed. They have been here to adjust the doors at least twice. I am so very disappointed in this fridge. I have many Kitchen Aid appliances and was always willing to pay extra for the quality, but I didnt get that this time.

I purchased a KitchenAid induction double oven range, model KSIB900ESS1 through my home builder, who installed it in July 2017. We moved into the home August 1. It worked correctly until October, although the induction burners make a lot of noise. In October the ovens quit working. We called KitchenAid, who sent an appliance repairman out in two days. A week later we hear nothing from the appliance guy. After several calls, I found out that the part that needed replaced did not exist. Confused, I called KitchenAid again and asked for another repairman. This one came out, found the problem, and located a replacement board within a week. I preheated the top oven two hours after he left and both of the ovens quit again. It is now a week later (tomorrow will be a month without an oven) and we are no further along in getting this fixed. Added to that: today I received a large box on my doorstep from KitchenAid (which I did not order) that I think might contain pots and pans that I dont need. Im afraid to open it because I dont want them saying I accepted pots and pans in lieu of a workable oven. What the heck is going on with this company?? Architect Series II Electric, free standing range: Overall, DO NOT BUY A KITCHENAID product due to user error, we needed to replace the oven door seal/gasket. After searching online & by phone in our area and being told that part is not available, I called KitchenAid. As we had registered our appliance they were able to verify our range was only 5 years old. THEY NO LONGER HAVE GASKETS FOR THIS MODEL. No other model gaskets will fit this model. Instead of the anticipated $60.00 repair cost we were told all they could do was sell us a comparable model for employee cost... not including shipping, installation and haul off of our current unit. I blew MY gasket & told them absolutely not. Not one .00 over the stated cost!! The upshot? $700.00+ later, with a wait of over 2 weeks, we will get a new range. They had us over a barrel with no other options for the price. I am flabbergasted, frustrated, disappointed & without a working oven for over half a month. I have always thought of KitchenAid as a quality product & in fact have been happy with the unit. I cannot recommend KitchenAid any longer with its program of planned obsolescence. My wife and I purchased KitchenAid appliances for our home thinking that these would be quality products and something that would last with the least problems. Also, we have received good service from their company reps. As with various KitchenAid models, there seems to be issues with the self-clean mode on the ovens. The first time we tried to use the self-clean mode, it locked up after about an hour and would not release nor would our oven operate. We called for service and we chose only the 1-year warranty so ours was out of warranty. It became a costly repair of about $300.00 to replace a burned-out thermostat. After repair, about a month later, we tried to clean it again and the same occurred. This time, I researched on the Internet for the schematics and I replaced the same thermostat for $50.00 myself. The stove did work and freed up but we still cannot use the self-clean mode. What is the sense of paying for quality products and paying for features you cannot use? KitchenAid says there is nothing they will do as no recall has been issued. Can this also become a danger to use in our home? Needless to say, we also have problems with our ice maker on our KitchenAid refrigerator which is also out of warranty. The problem here is the ice cubes get hung up in the maker and stops making ice as it is hung up. Who wants to check this every day?

We built a new home three years ago and installed all KitchenAid appliances. The refrigerator has been a lemon. KitchenAid has not been helpful in dealing with repairs. We have repaired the ice maker four times and finally it was replaced. Most recently the refrigeration system has developed a leak and is not cooling. We were informed that the retail cost of the repair is $3000. If we had not built in the refrigerator and purchased cabinet fronts for the doors we would have replaced this appliance.

We bought a KA fridge KSF26C7XYY04 with an extended warranty service plan. Thank goodness! We have had 3 service calls in a 6 month period. The fridge is only 2 years old. The evaporator and ice dispenser motor had to be replaced. I just called again because once again the freezer is not working. I have thrown out food 3 times now. I have a 5-hour service repair window every time the company that services the warranty comes out. Last time the part took so long to come in that I waited for almost 4 weeks to get my fridge fixed. This purchase has been a total nightmare! If we did not have the warranty, KA would not even talk to me. There is zero customer service. I was actually told today that with the internet I should have done my homework by their own customer service! That says it all. Sad state of affairs. I will never buy a KA appliance ever again. Once the warranty runs out and I cant get them to continue to fix this fridge, I will take the loss and buy a new non-KA fridge. This company completely sucks. All 3 drawers on the fridge side are broken. Same issue where the face of the drawer has come off. I had one drawer replaced which broke again. KA wont stand behind their poorly made product. They want me to buy them for $125/drawer. I refuse to spend any more money on this piece of poorly made appliance. I duct tape them! SO sad.

Bought a brand new refrigerator. Thought I was buying top of the line but found out I paid top dollar for a loud broken unit that even KitchenAid wont fix. Nothing but problems with the unit since I plugged it in. Between compressor, water adapter, and broken reservoir I havent been able to use a fully functioning unit for 2 years. The support offered from KitchenAid is next-to-nothing. They simply do not care that their unit does not function.
