My four year old Kitchen Aid dishwasher (model kudko31twh2) has been a headache. Numerous calls for leaks has not fixed the problem through Bestbuy extended warranty companies. Now, my new kitchen floor is damaged, and this past Saturday, Feb 18, the machine gave off a burning smell. I had to remove the machine from the premises, due to the smell, and felt compelled to purchase a new dishwasher, even though there is still time left on my extended warranty. I am very angry and frustrated that Kitchen Aid said it is Best Buys problem, and not theirs. They might be right, but they should stand behind their products better.

Have owned much less expensive brands that did a fine job of cleaning the dishes. This brand is not recommended as I end up hand washing my dishes after taking them out of the dishwasher. The heat dry setting is not effective in drying the dishes either.

When I updated my kitchen I bought a KitchenAid dishwasher in 2007 and it was installed in 2008. It was serviced once under warranty... smoke coming out of the hood. Since then I have had it repaired twice. Once for the chopper not working correctly. It took the service rep five minutes to fix it and he was embarrassed that he charged me more than $100.00 to fix it. The service advisor was recommended by KitchenAid. Since then I have had to replace the silverware dispenser and now I have to replace the soap dispenser because a piece of plastic no bigger than 1/4 of an inch broke off. The part was 68.00 with shipping 86.00... ripoff... and now I have to pay a repairman to install it. ALL over this piece of plastic. I will never buy a KitchenAid product again.... and hope that lots of consumers read this and follow my advice.

KitchenAid Dishwasher Model KUDS30FXSS. As a consumer I am loath to leave a bad reviews, but I have to say I am very disappointed in my dishwasher and in KitchenAid as a company. Within the first year a plastic valve sprang a leak and flooded my floor. A year and a half later the upper rack is broken, and the motor has failed. The failure of the valve and the rack I ascribe to bad design and/or use of substandard materials, but the motor problem is more complicated. The factory service technician wanted to assign blame to me, by suggesting that something hard left on the dishes of a piece of broken glass ruined the motor. I have been careful with this machine, and always rinsed dishes before putting them in. Before this I had an Asko Cylinda which got me in the habit of pre-rinsing. Over the 12 years I owned that dishwasher I had to call for service two or three times when small particles would get past the filters and obstruct the flow of water to the spray arms. The remedy was simply to remove the obstruction, however. It never required a new motor. The KitchenAid is supposed to have a soft waste disposal built in. One would think that would provide more protection, but, in fact, it not only failed to prevent a particle from getting in the system but there was nothing to keep it from destroying the motor once it got in. That suggests bad design to me. Secondarily, I have an issue with KitchenAid itself. At every turn the company pretends that customer satisfaction is primary. Their people are always polite, but they are just the velvet glove that hides the iron fist. But the bottom line, in my experience with the company, is that its strict and narrow policies mostly let them off the hook and out of responsibility when something goes wrong. Their service personnel express sympathy but tell you they are bound by policy. Of course, they are KitchenAids people, and KitchenAid makes the rules that make it difficult for the technicians to do right by the consumer. A company that values repeat business (I bought a KA refrigerator from the same designer series first) should barricade itself behind its rules only in the most flagrant cases of consumer negligence or abuse. I paid over $900 dollars for what I thought was a best-quality, USA-made product that would last and had an excellent company name behind it. I used it regularly and took good care of it. A year and a half later, the company will only fix half of whats now wrong with it, and informs me I am responsible for replacing the motor at a cost of $450. For that much money I could buy a Maytag (also made by Whirlpool) or I could triple that amount and get another Asko or a Bosch. Certainly, I will never trust KitchenAid again.

I bought a KitchenAid dishwasher not quite a year ago. My stainless steel door is streaking and looks very very ugly. We have only used professional stainless steel cleaning products. It is unfixable. Being under warranty, I called the company. It is not covered because it is a cosmetic problem. We figured out the dishwasher is leaking and causing the problem. Still not covered. I am very disappointed. Never ever buy Whirlpool or KitchenAid again. I bought a Whirlpool fridge 5 years ago and they have been out 6 times to fix that.

I am writing is regard to several phone calls that were made to get a service call for my dishwasher. I was on elevator string music for 30 minutes from 07:28 to 08:03 AM. At that point I read off numerous numbers to the girl only to be advised to another telephone number and then at that number redirected to the place of purchase, and then to a holding company that has the warranty policy which was issued December 18, 2011 to December 18, 2014. KITCHENAID needs to select better people to handle these calls. I encountered a couple people to be rude and insensitive to the needs of a consumer. The final call finally resulted with an appointment for a technician to appear at my home between 12:00 and 5:00 PM tomorrow. After all these endeavors, I searched the internet and found CONSUMER AFFAIRS SITE. I am really upset that I had not looked before I leaped with KITCHENAID when I read issues with plastic wheels, broken dishes and completely rejected consumers dating back to before November 16, 2013. I counted at least 26 wheel issues of 529 complaints listed. Why wasnt a RECALL issued to correct this obvious and repeated documented poor quality in workmanship? This technician tomorrow should be bringing NEW REVISED WHEELS for this dishwasher. Needless to say - NEVER AGAIN KITCHENAID.

Ive had this dishwasher model KUDS30iXSS4 with stainless steel tub for 5 years and the only way to get dishes clean is to set it for pot scrubber and on the longer cycle. The top rack has plastic wheels to roll it in and out that completely broke off so it cant be used. Replacement parts are over $135 and I dont know if I can fix it myself. Ive had dishwashers last 15+ years with 0 problems so I think this one isnt living up to expectations. I bought the stainless tub because I thought it would last. I can see from these reviews the top shelf wheels are a major design fault. Many complaints about the plastic wheels breaking off as well as other plastic pieces failing. When I replace this and Im sure I will have to, I wont replace it with another KitchenAid.

My wife was having issues getting the upper rack on the Kitchenaid Model KD
My wife was having issues getting the upper rack on the Kitchenaid Model KDFE304SS0 dishwasher back into place. Problem was traced to the right hand upper rack trucks bearing retainer failing, releasing multiple bits of plastic and several small stainless bearings into the interior of the dishwasher. Closer inspection indicates that the manufacturer chose to use a nylon (PA6?) carrier which is degraded by moisture and heat eventually causing the carrier to break down. Why they chose that material when so much of the other components are POM which would have held up is beyond me. This will be a problem for others for sure if they use the heated dry. An additional worry is that not all bearings could not be recovered so there may be additional issues due to small metal bits traveling through the rest of the system. The unit was purchased from Sears July 17, 2015 so entirely too soon for such a failure. Clearly a poor choice in materials.

We purchased our dishwasher (as part of a full set as a matter of fact) 2 years ago. It’s quiet, but has stopped washing dishes. We only use the soap and dry aid recommended by the manufacturer, and the dishwasher itself is cleaner regularly. The soap dispenser opens, but unless the bottom rack is left half empty, Ten soap doesn’t come out of the dispenser, or comes out but doesn’t dissolve. This started about six months ago, as an occasional problem, but by now it happens more often than not. Based on this, as well as my experiences with the rest of my appliances, I would not recommend this brand.

After owning this appliance for over a year and after much frustration, I feel compelled to voice my disappointment with this product. I personally have owned my last 3 Kitchenaid dishwashers and have always felt extremely happy with the product, however this is the worst appliance I have ever owned. I do not expectations from you. Just wanted to let you know how displeased I have been. This product does not clean dishes in the upper rack as well as on the bottom, it also is the noisiest I have ever heard. I will be replacing it with a Bosch, never again to deal with Kitchenaid.

I purchased a KUDS30CSX in March. This is our 3rd call and 5th visit (including the 2 for replacing the parts once they came in). We have had the whole electrical panel replaced twice now. This time, the upper basket wheels are broken (one on each side). The locks do not hold fast and the rack slides out, falling off its guide. I also requested a silverware basket replacement as the basket came with one hole in the bottom, but now has two adjacent to each other. In all the years weve had dishwashers of varying brands, I have never had a basket come apart. This is by far the most weve spent on a dishwasher and here we are replacing pieces already.

We decided to invest in a good dishwasher that we could rely on. We spent over $1300 on model #KUDE48FXBL2. It never really worked quite right. There would be periods when the keypad would not work. After roughly one year of use, it has died. The repair service quickly determined that it needed a new keypad and some sort of electrical part in the door. KitchenAid does not have the parts and does not know when they will be available. I am hand washing all of my dishes while a $1300 dishwasher sits in my kitchen with an out of order sign on it. There is no end in sight and we get no answers. We are trying to decide if we throw it out (and the $1300 we spent) or wait to see when it can be repaired (and how much it will cost). We spent a lot of money on a dishwasher that only gave us about one year of use. We will not buy an appliance from KitchenAid or any of their affiliated companies again.

I purchased a model KDTE204DSS0 KitchenAid dishwasher on 12/1/14 for $717.48. It has a stainless steel tub. Fourteen months later (2/16) we had water leaking from multiple pinhole leaks in the stainless steel tub where the base of the tub is molded to fit the screen and pump. I called Whirlpool and they said that the tub has a lifetime warranty but it can only be installed by an approved appliance repair facility. That cost $150.00 (I removed, delivered and installed the dishwasher again myself). On 9/8/16 (seven months later) the dishwasher is leaking again and has again the same pinhole leaks in the new tub. I get a slight shock when I touch the screen inside the tub and believe there is a galvanic reaction going on that is eating up the stainless tub at its thinnest area.Since I find no other reviews mentioning this problem, and it appears to be more than just a tub problem but a unit problem (i.e. a lemon), I asked Whirlpool to replace the unit. As you already know, they said no but would replace it for $17.00 less than I paid for the last one less than two years ago. If I paid another $150.00 to replace the last tub that would be about $500.00 a year to wash a load of dishes every other day. This negative review is as much about the manufacturer as it is about the faulty dishwasher.

Purchased KitchenAid dishwasher about two years ago thinking we were paying more to get a quality product. It has been instead inferior and troublesome. A long series of problems began from the start. Crooked footings that made it more challenging to install. Leaking door seal that needed to be replaced. Leaks from some undefined location that require we use and empty a drip pan. Plastic wheels breaking and not staying on track (dumping the full tray into the well) when sliding in full trays of dishes. Poor cleaning compared or prior cheapo washers. Flatware trays that wear out easily even while trying to be careful, and now to top it off, the unit has stopped rinsing the dishes entirely. What a huge waste of money!

Whirlpool owns KitchenAid. BUYER BEWARE!! The dishwasher does a good job but God help you if you ever need to use the warranty. Mine has a door leak. The repairman came out 5 times and replaced the tub twice, the door liner, the door, the hinges and the latching mechanism. There is still a 50/50 chance it will leak depending on how hard you slam the door and I do mean SLAM. They have taken up almost 15 hours of my time. The warranty says they will repair or replace the washer. THEY WILL NOT. You are dealing with dishonest people with no integrity. I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher in June 2011, model number KUDE70fvss2, and I have had nothing but problems with it. I bought it because KitchenAid is notoriously quiet and I live in a smaller home and I did not want to hear noise all over my house. Nothing has fallen off or apart, but this dishwasher has never and I do mean not one time cleaned my dishes properly. All dishes and glasses are left with stuck on food. Lipstick never comes off of cups, glasses or silverware. All glassware is cloudy with all kinds of drinking matter still inside. I have to wash everything by hand when the cycle is over... I have had the repair and warranty people out too many times to mention. Water that runs through is scalding. I use recommended products and have even made my own hoping something would help. Alas, this seems like nearly $2k down the drain. Anyone else with this problem? Our KitchenAid dishwasher came with our new house and it is indeed very quiet and does a good job washing dishes. The third rack is great improvement over the door-mounted utensil rack in our old Whirlpool (same company). However after two years st started blowing the circuit breaker and a second technician said it was a bad control board. These are back ordered 3-4 weeks. It has been down for a month and probably another month or more before it gets repaired. KitchenAid ought to keep a stock of parts that are failing on their products. It was the same problem getting the microwave fixed 6 months ago.

We bought this dishwasher a KitchenAid KDTM404ESSO s/n f52302835 last year July 2nd because of the reviews. It was a higher end dishwasher and had great write ups. The dishwasher leaves residue on everything. We called our sales company Home Appliance in Brunswick, Ohio and they told us it is probably clogged. I checked it, it was clear. Called back and they said you are using too much detergent. I asked for a contact number for a rep for KitchenAid and only got the factory phone number. In March or April the motor quit working. We called and they came out and confirmed it and ordered the motor for a warranty replacement. I told the service man about how it doesnt clean anything completely and he said you cant use Cascade. Cascade is what they recommend in the papers that come with the unit. He recommended some other brand which we bought and it still didnt clean the film off all the dishes. He came back out and explained that we were stacking the dishes in the dishwasher wrong and that the bottom rows had to be facing each other and took the top silverware tray out for us (you cant fit 12 dishes in with this in, the wash arms hit it). We did a load with him there and they came out cloudy. He said, Oh, you have to do sani rinse with your wash cause the new dishwashers dont use any water. I said, Thats great but then we would be up to almost two and a half hours to do a load. His reply was that is the way the new dishwashers are, meaning live with it. I would understand a lower end dishwasher doing all this stuff, but this was a $1200 plus installation dishwasher. We do not want this unit anymore at all. We made a mistake thinking it would be as good as our KitchenAid mixers and it isnt on the same planet.

We built a new house in 2012 and bought all new KitchenAid appliances. I thought I was buying a great branded product. My natural behavior is to buy the best and when I went in to buy appliances for my new house, I was directed to KitchenAid. I started my experience by having several problems with our microwave and with my cooktop at one time, with the burners not working correctly. I also had the board on our dishwasher go out. However, my fridge is a nightmare. I started having a problem 4 months into my purchase. I bought a French door fridge, and my kids do not always pay attention to how the door closes so once in a while, it stays slightly cracked open. KitchenAid tells me I need to train my 2, 5 and 8 year old kids to check the fridge door. Do you think kids will remember this all the time? The problem is that the beeper does not let you know if someone left it open until after 5 minutes. The other problem is the sound on the beeper. I can hardly hear it, and there is no adjustment for higher volume there either.I can hardly blame kids or teach kids that are 2, 5 and 8 years old to shut a door and check it. I can tell you that I know I bought the most highly priced fridge on the market and a simple timer and beeper on the thing is not adjustable. I cant even get an upgrade to fix my problem. I offered to pay for the fix and nobody can help. I am asking for a louder beeper and a timer for an alarm, and nobody can help. More functionality is what the consumer is asking for. Supposedly, we buy the highest priced item on the market so that we would get more support, or at least an option to add this to your fridge? I would have expected this from cheaper models, but a KitchenAid, as far as what I have been told, is the best. Well, I got room for argument on that one. I went to Sears today and LG and Samsung have adjustable timers and adjustable sound within their appliances. My plan is to buy one and never own a Whirlpool, Kenmore, or KitchenAid ever again because I absolutely cannot get a response from this leadership team within the Whirlpool organization. This is the 6th time since I have owned this fridge that this has happened. I figured, to replace all the food in my fridge, it would cost me $60-$100 each time. At this rate, it is too costly, with your cost of the product and the way it is engineered to afford your products from this point forward. I am not happy about the communication I have gotten from KitchenAid and Whirlpool to address my problem. I am not happy about supposedly purchasing the best brand on the market and not having more flexibility to adjust timers and beepers.I am not happy about having to replace my fridge in my new home 18 months after purchase. I am not happy because I will have to try and match stainless colors on the new Samsung or LG brand product I intend on buying. I am not happy about not being able to match all my appliances in my new home because KitchenAid can’t offer a product with adjustable timers and beepers. I am only one customer, and I never bad mouth anyone’s products. But if someone asks about my new KitchenAid products, I will let them know my experience with customer support and product experiences I had from the Whirlpool umbrella.

We purchased a top-of-the-line Kitchenaid dishwasher 2 years ago. In the first year, we had 4 service calls for various problems. The last problem was for poor draining and residual soap in the bottom of the unit. Things were replaced and the door was taken apart, then reassembled. The problem persisted. I went online and did my own research and found the solution. Each repair person was sure to remind me to keep the rinse agent full. Turns out that when you have a water softener, the rinse agent is unnecessary. Now the entire door is showing rashes of rust.We called today and were questioned how the door was being cleaned. It is cleaned with a weak soap solution and immediately dried with a very soft microfiber cloth. Okay, so its not a maintenance issue. It is a very low grade of stainless steel. Magnets stick in the door readily, but not on the stainless handle, which is obviously a higher quality of stainless. After speaking to a manager, we are being sent a cleaning solution and a polishing solution. Sadly, had we researched before paying so much, we would have been informed that this is a chronic problem with Kitchenaid and they refuse to acknowledge the problem, nor will they offer any satisfactory solution. This dishwasher was bought to replace a 27-year-old Kenmore unit that just wasnt getting the dishes as clean as it used to. When it was taken to the junk yard, it looked like it did the day it was bought. The stainless parts were flawless. Dont make the same mistake we did. Take a magnet shopping with you and avoid Kitchenaid.

Purchased a higher end Kitchen Aid dishwasher model KUDE60FVSS3 in 2010. End of 2016 dishwasher was having issues with it not draining at the end of the cycle. Had a local repairman out twice. He replaced the drain pump and repositioned the drain line - didnt fix the issue. Contacted Whirlpool/KitchenAid customer service and set up an appointment with a factory authorized technician. Factory certified tech couldnt figure out what was wrong (test was not producing an error code). He suggested replacing the main board and drain valve sensor - ($400+). He couldnt guarantee that this would fix the problem since he couldnt get an error code. I understand that appliances break down, and I was prepared to have this one repaired, but when the fix is a trial and error throw money at it approach, this deems a product as disposable, since its cheaper to buy something new.Although the dishwasher is 6 years old, I estimate that it has run less than 1500 cycles (running it every 3-4 days over the 6 years). Also, in the 6 years Ive had to replace the cutlery baskets twice - cheap plastic garbage. I sent a complaint letter to Whirlpool executives and their response, although quick, was one basically one of Were not prepared to do much. KitchenAid use to have the reputation for quality and reliability. Now they have cheapened the design to where the higher end models are no different than a cheaper $300 disposable machine. There was nothing wrong with the quality of money I paid for this dishwasher, but certainly Whirlpool/Kitchen Aid quality and reliability leaves a lot to be desired. Will never buy another Whirlpool product, nor will I recommend.

Im happy to say that the dishwasher has now been repaired at no cost to me. Hopefully the replacement rails and adjusters will last longer than the original ones did. Im very pleased that KitchenAid stepped up to make this right. Ive been a loyal customer of KitchenAid and will continue to be in the future. To KitchenAid Dishwashers: Compliments and thanks! KitchenAid has stepped up big time, so I want to update my November 7 negative review of dishwasher model # KDFE204EWH. This morning, we got a very nice phone call from KitchenAid’s customer care people. They will pay for the part replacement and the installation labor. In a happy coincidence, their local authorized service operation happens to be the same (first-rate) dealer we bought the dishwasher from, so I know the follow-through will be there. Two takeaways: At least one of the “squawking platforms” that we used for our complaining this past week did the trick, so complain widely! And It likely also helped that we promptly registered our purchase with KitchenAid, so they already had all the details.

Horrible manufacturing!!! KitchenAid dishwasher model KUDE20IXSS8. Motor only mounted with a very SMALL PLASTIC grommet. Further, from the motor is a rubber hose/gasket that is clamped with a one-time-use flimsy ring. This attaches to the plastic drain pipe. When the grommet failed (vibration, etc), the flimsy plastic ring could not hold the weight of the motor separating the motor with the rubber hose FROM the drain pipe. SEE where Im going here, yes, catastrophic failure. Yup, water gushed out all over my kitchen floor. Under flooring, cabinets, under refrigerator. Water/moisture mitigation was encouraged by insurance company before repairs. Repairman also mentioned he has repaired this same problem 5 times. Shame on KitchenAid (made by Whirlpool), this should be recalled and at a minimum manufacturing resign is a must!

Bought Kitchenaid Model #KUDE40FXSS5 in 2012. Within first year the top rack fell off the runners and had to be replaced. As that was under warranty Kitchenaid sent repair kit, but we had to install it. March 30, 2017 I started cycle. Within minutes water was pooling in front of the dishwasher. Turned off cycle. Drained water from dishwasher and called repairman. He knew immediately what the cause of leak was as he had seen it often. The ring that connects and tightens a water hose to the pump was not tight enough. The original ring could not be tightened as it was installed at the tightest possible connection allowed by that plastic ring. He replaced with a Bosch metal screw tightening ring. Called Kitchenaid and they refused to help with payment for repair. This machine cost $1200 new. This is inexcusable and I will never recommend this product.

Two years ago we were renovating our kitchen and took out an old dishwasher that we had been using for 15 years. Still worked great but was very loud. We were looking for something quiet and it was a toss up between the KitchenAid and a Bosch. Sales guy steered us toward a high end KitchenAid, top of the line model, over $2000. What a piece of garbage. Within a couple of months we had control panel problems, then I noticed a huge stain on the cabinetry and called repair. Pulled the dishwasher out and it was leaking around all the screws that hold the racks in on the outside. Completely destroyed the cabinetry and that had to be replaced at our cost. Since then it’s been broke down three more times with electrical problems. It’s cost me at least half the value of the dishwasher and needs more repairs. I think I’m just going to pull it out and get a Bosch. What was I thinking... a BMW or a Pinto. Don’t buy a KitchenAid, they are garbage.

Said it would be another 2 weeks before that arrived. In meantime I insisted on Best Buy (where I bought it) giving me a new one. What a saga. A month later the new one eventually arrived. Guess what? Within a week same problem. Repairman again. Pump faulty again. Another 2 weeks. Pump replaced. Within a week same problem. Contacted KitchenAid direct which is really Whirlpool. Awful customer service. Scheduled a replacement this week but failed to keep appointment. Got a few hours notice. Theyre giving me another new one. Have told them this is the last one. If this one is crap like the last 2, then they just take it away. Not getting another. On 11/18/2010, I purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher, 22 12552. This dishwasher has been a nightmare. I purchased extended warranty and thank God I did. We put it in and then it didnt get the dishes clean and wouldnt dry them and it was eating jet dry like it was going out of style. I had several service calls on this problem. Then they replaced it 30 days later. Now, this dishwasher is a piece of **. They have put in 3 different panels of the controls, that all I do is wait from 5 to 12 for them to show up plus I am without a dishwasher for a week till they can come out. Then I have to wait another week for the part to show up. They came out this last time on 7-23-2012 and they left and the problems started all over even though they put in a new panel. I have no idea what your company did to ruin a good dishwasher but this is a piece of **. Now, they tell me this is the fourth time today, 7-25-2012, so they will replace it. Well, I guess my question is, am I going to have the same problems that I had with the other 3 dishwashers they have given me? They are taking my time and all the work to put this in again and again and again. Your company should fix this problem you are having with this dishwasher. I always swore by Sears and Whirlpool and KitchenAid products but I tell you what, I will never do business with Sears and never buy a Whirlpool product either. I realize you dont care. I am only one person but thats really how I feel.

After 2 years my KitchenAid Dishwasher model #KUDC10IXBL2 needed a new circuit board replacement. We had an extended service contract - great you would think, but not so. After replacement, we had water leaking from the dishwasher. Now my hardwood floors are lifting and I have bowls under the door to catch leaking water. This is after numerous repairs of the gasket. KitchenAid does not take responsibility for damage done to your personal property. KitchenAid also contracts with a repair company called A&E. A&E gives you a time frame for repair between 8 am and 5 pm, so to say the least we have lost out on vacation time as we need to take a day off for repair. Each time the repair guy comes additional damage is done - most times they forget to have ordered the necessary parts, so need to reschedule to come back out. This last time I phone KitchenAid who told me the service guy could deem the appliance a lemon, however the service guy told us they would not allow him to do this. A&E has put into repairs on this dishwasher over $800 and we paid $535 for the item. Last week A&E came out again, it ran well before they left. The next day I went to run the dishwasher and bolts popped off and the unit gushed water. Seriously! My recommendation would be research your product well, not purchase a service contract through KitchenAID and ask if the service repair company contracted with is A&E. Bad experience and the poorest customer service ever!

We bought a stainless steel, built-in KitchenAid dishwasher about two years ago when we were renovating our kitchen. It has been a huge disappointment ever since. It doesnt actually clean the dishes, no matter what setting we have it on. It leaves bits of food and random stuff on everything. It smells like rotten eggs when it runs. Plus, it runs for hours and hours - why? It does not effectively dry the dishes. We have had it serviced at least three times with no real improvement. Really, at this point, it is just a glorified dishrack and we end up washing almost everything by hand. Cost over $500 and is worse than the $200 dishwasher we had before. Dont buy, unless you just secretly want a fancy, stylish dishrack.

I am now on my second repair. About 2 years ago the fridge part stopped working and a technician had to replace a coil. Today my freezer stopped working. It is very disheartening to know how much was spent on the this product just to have it break down every two years. I called Kitchen-Aid directly who stated they can send out a service guy out of warranty. That is also, in my opinion, bad customer service. We have had a KitchenAid dishwasher (model # KUDI01FLBL3) for over six year
We have had a KitchenAid dishwasher (model # KUDI01FLBL3) for over six years now. We purchased this dishwasher so we could mount a cabinet panel on the front to match the kitchen cabinets. After just one year, the plastic parts in the door spring assembly broke and the door came crashing down. Customer service told me that the parts would not be under warranty. After several hours of talking to different departments, I finally received the parts at no cost. Less than two years later, the same parts broke again and the door came crashing down. I talked to several technicians at KitchenAid stating that this was a design flaw. They said it was more than likely due to the panel I had installed on the front of the dishwasher being too heavy. I removed it and took it back to the cabinet shop. It was one pound under the recommended weight. I paid $100 to remove another two pounds of wood from it before reinstalling it along with new plastic door parts (which I had to pay for this time). The same parts have broken two more times in the past three years. I have had the cabinet company install removable panels in the cabinets on both sides of the dishwasher for easier access to replace the broken plastic parts. Now, the door latch will not hold the door closed. I called customer service for replacement parts. It was going to be over $100 for parts and shipping! They stated that there was nothing wrong with the original design but they now have redesigned the original parts. This was the same story I got for the plastic door spring assembly parts! Between the door parts, cabinet work and now the latch, Im now going to buy another dishwasher. It will not be a KitchenAid ever!

I just got off the phone and as usual got nowhere with KitchenAid people including the manager. I too have had nothing but headaches with this piece of junk. As someone said, the top rack just collapsed downward on one side. We replaced the rack, and another part already; the junky plastic on the rack keeps breaking. The door for the soap doesnt open and it has been a better dish rack than dishwasher. I have washed dishes by hand more often than I was able to use this product. I am so disappointed that they, as a big company, couldnt send someone out for free for a change and try to back their name. They brag as you wait on the phone (which is forever), about how wonderful their service is. Well, the last visit cost over $100 to have a man run my dishwasher empty and tell me to use less soap and not packets. Now a manager told me to see if it works in the other types of washes. I asked how that would solve my problem. What am I supposed to do, switch from my one hour and compromise? I told him management is not his calling and he should consider another job. Never again will I buy KitchenAid which is a shame because my first one was great!

Our KitchenAid dishwasher was purchased about two and a half years ago. The model is KUDS301XSS1 for over $1000 from HH Gregg Appliances. One and a half years into its use, it had a repair for $215 for a $30 fuse. The rest was labor because nothing on the dish washer would operate. The compartments that hold the knives, forks and spoons in place are held up on the sides of the utensil tray by bread twiggies to keep them from constantly falling into the respective sections. If anyone is experiencing this problem, the twiggies have been working now for over a year. The bottom panel which is plastic is held to the metal frame with cheap plastic that breaks. It is now held on by, you guessed it, another bread twiggie. Last week, the roller on the upper rack broke off of the cheap plastic spindle that holds it to more plastic parts on the rack. Now it is engineered by an ingenious screw washer fed by a strong plastic tie through a small washer fed through the opening of the roller and twisted onto the plastic frame on the upper rack. This works as long as one doesnt force the rack open. One should note that the end stops on the rack are made up of more cheap plastic parts that are quite fragile and will probably break in time. The dishwasher does clean dishes and is silent, but the cheapness of all these parts leaves me with one opinion - KitchenAid and Whirlpool do not care about making a good appliance. The KitchenAid was a replacement for two previous Whirlpools that gave decent service. I sold appliances in the past and know that KitchenAid made by Hobart was quite a top of the line dishwasher. My advice now - not worth the purchase price, not worth buying so let buyer beware. Because of this atrocious record, the rest of the new appliances in our kitchen went to Frigidaire. I have read many other complaints from others on the internet about this fuse that keeps going out. My repairman left the instructions for replacement so I can do it myself.

KUDS35FXSS 8 is a Kitchen Aid dishwasher that has an obvious design flaw. We had a similar style KitchenAid at our last house which was a good product. When we built our new home we got the next level up. In less than 1 year, 3 of the small plastic pairs of clips that hold the wheels on the upper rack broke off. Today the dishwasher would not go into wash cycle and after watching a how-to video I found 3 of the little plastic triangle clip parts in the food chopper. One was wedged against the chopper blade. I removed it and the dishwasher works again. I wired on the top rack wheels with stainless steel wire. The lady at the service center said that they hadnt heard of the problem. We bought it a few months before installation so nothing was going to be covered. A friend just had the same rack breakage issue and several people on this site say so too. Purchased Stainless Steel Kitchenaid (Whirlpool Corp) dishwasher 2015-07-29 at the Brick. Total cost including extended 5 yr Trans Global Warranty, delivery and taxes $1350.34. Starting in early 2020 the Dishwasher intermittently stopped dissolving soap which would fall to the bottom of the tub undissolved and stopped drying the dishes which we ignored until May 2020. Called Trans Global many times to solve this problem. They made 3 repairs that included 6 visits from their repair man because he comes with no repair parts and orders them after each visit. He made adjustments and even said he changed the control circuit board. Which did not solve the problem.I finally took a whole Saturday in Jan 2021 and figured out how to read the cryptic service sheet provided with the machine and got the control board to give me the error code readout (with help from Google). Error code 8-2 (8 LED flashes followed by 2 LED flashes) ....check wash pump! Sure enough the bushings that hold the water pump shaft are worn down causing the wash pump to draw high current and stall periodically. Simply put, bad material choice for the bushings by the designers! (Also the rubber tubing & seals and plastic parts of the dish racks are breaking down - also bad material choices). Or was this stainless steel dishwasher designed to fail at 5 years? So the cost in Canadian dollars from Whirlpool Corp. for the repair parts (as the unit is now out of extended warranty) is: 1. W10529163 Wash Pump - Motor $291.77 2. W10445975 Rubber Elbow and 2 Clamps 92.653. W10538166 Rubber Sealing Grommet 33.73Total cost (shipping not included) $418.15 You would think that if the designers made errors they would supply these parts at cost... maybe $75.00??? Basically the cost of repairing this machine is not a good investment as a new one can be purchased for $600. Right now we call this unit our $1350 towel rack! I recommend that people do not support Whirlpool Corp or any other brands associated with them with repeat purchases, I will not.I also wonder if Trans Global Warranty Corp. is complicit in not replacing the pump under warranty because they are well aware of the exorbitant cost of these parts. The sad thing is that this stainless dishwasher that should have lasted at least another 7 or 8 years will end up in the dump. Also I will need several trips to an appliance store to buy a new unit shipped all the way from Korea or Germany.

I am really satisfied with KitchenAid brand overall, I had purchased most of my appliances available on this brand because I trust the brand. I had a couple of dishwasher in the past from different brand and did not last more than 5 years, the noise was terrible and my dishes didn’t came clean but since I purchase my Kitchen Aid dishwasher I have more confidence when I empty my dishwasher. Congratulations to Kitchen Aid and thank you for the good service.

I purchased this fridge in early 2013. The ice bin latch has not worked since last summer. The bin does not stay latched and come forward the next time the draw is opened. When I called Kitchen Aid, expecting to speak with a customer service tech about the problem, the only option they offered was to forward me to an independent parts distributor. I did not want to purchase a new ice bin or schedule a costly service call if there was something I could do with the help of an over the phone technician. The distributor informed me that Kitchen Aid does not offer over the phone support and my only option was to call for a service technician to come to the house. Is it true there is no customer service support? That is a huge disappointment. After paying thousands of dollars for these appliances the customer is on their own. Also the quality of the stainless steel is poor. I find it difficult to clean and it dents very easily. I had another band stainless steel fridge for fifteen years, when my kids were small and crashing into everything, and it never dented. Now there are only adults in the household and it already has three dents. It is extremely upsetting to have a dented appliance in my brand new kitchen. I was planning to purchase all Kitchen Aid appliances in my new kitchen, but fortunately decided to go with a Bosch dishwasher and a Sharp microwave, which are of much better quality. I will not recommend or purchase another Kitchen Aid appliance.

I have had issues with this dishwasher since the beginning. The dishwasher racks are set up poorly and the mechanisms that hold the racks and allow them to slide in and out break often. A service repairman is the one who recommended I get a Kitchen Aid dishwasher and I am now wondering if he does this so that he gets more business. I have read other complaints since googling after having this problem and it appears to be pervasive. Kitchen Aid needs to recall these racks and offer a replacement of a newly-designed rack system. The dishwasher is 3 years old and this is the second time I have had a repairman out in the last 3 months not to mention that it has never operated well.

Kitchen aid dishwasher (which per consumer reports was and still is supposed to be one of the better dishwashers) purchased in Jan 2011. To date have had 4 service calls on this appliance. Dispenser door for powdered soap does not open so soap is dispensed through open door. Part very expensive to replace. Last week heard loud noise like explosion. Door blew open while dishwasher was running. Fortunately we have a very nice and honest repair person who bent the latch in hopes of keeping the machine going until we redo our kitchen in a few months. Now run dishwasher with a chair in front and towels on the bottom in case this happens again. We will never purchase another kitchen aid product again.

Bought the product from Best Buy. Had it only 4 years & it stopped working. According to the technician the control panel needed to be replaced, which would cost us $500!!! Before the KitchenAid I had a Whirlpool Gold dishwasher that lasted me 12 years. By buying KitchenAid I thought we were invested in another 12 years if not more. Were we surprised! Generally, I have read high reviews about the product and found them to be true. Nowhere did I read that the product had a very short life span otherwise I would not have bought it. Would you invest in a product for 4 years? Not only do you have to pay for another dishwasher but the installation & inconvenience too.

I purchased this dishwasher in October 2011 which was a Kitchen Aid model KUDC10IXWH4. This was installed in a basement kitchen which is only used at New Years and Easter and is run for a total of 10 loads per year. The control panel failed within the first five loads and we needed factory service. When the service tech arrived I was informed that we had to pay the labor and service call. This failure was in early 2102 after the unit was run for the New Year holiday. We were told by the tech that we should consider the extended warranty because these units constantly fail. The unit starts by itself. The thermal fuse fails about every 6th load at a replacement cost of $138 per trip. Kitchen Aid is absolutely useless in this process and deny any responsibility in this matter. As this unit has just been run enough to empty the sample bottle of Jet Dry and had for service calls I would tell anyone never to buy another Kitchen Aid appliance as we will not ever again. Their customer service is horrible!

I too experienced the dishwasher top rack roller failure. The top rack rollers are secured by (2) cheap very thin plastic spreader clips. These clips are approximately 3/16 wide by 1/16 thick. If just one of these cheap clips breaks - the roller wheel will separate causing the rack to collapse along with progressive failure of the adjoining roller wheel clips. This deliberate design and manufacturing defect by KitchenAid is an obvious attempt at planned obsolesce. This once celebrated company is no longer interested in producing durable quality products. Avoid the purchase of all KitchenAid dishwashers!

I bought KITCHENAID FRIDGE IN FEB 2013 and paid $2500. It broke in 2 months. Then in 2 months, then in 3 month. I LOST FOOD, TAKING TIME FROM WORK AND HAD YESTERDAY (OCTOBER 29TH SERVICE DONE) FOR 8TH TIMES OF SAME/SIMILAR ISSUES. I was forced to buy extended warranty and paid another $300 for it. I contacted the Whirlpool and they said there is nothing they can do or replace the item and it is not their problem. They said I need to contact the dealer or warranty place. I contacted them. They said they can not take it back because it has been used. What is wrong with this picture? How do I know if I am satisfied or unit works if I do not use it? There is no right for customer specially who has kids and needs the fridge to store food? Now I have to wait until they order important cooling parts again second time so I can use my fridge. Can some lawyer help me to get legal action against the company? I need help to raise voice to this. I also bought Kitchenaid dishwasher and after one time use it smelled and dishes did not dry. The company again said there is nothing they can do as it works just fine with smelly dishes. We all need to take an action to solve this. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP TO FIGHT THIS. After a few months of use, the side of the maple cabinet next to the dishwasher began to turn black and we noticed it getting hot when the dishwasher was being used. We uninstalled the dishwasher and noticed the panel was delaminating opposite the vent on the dishwasher. We called for service and they looked at the problem. And after they called KitchenAid, they said there was nothing wrong with the dishwasher and the vent could not leak steam because it was only open when the water was filling to vent the pressure and because of the weight of the small plastic door, it could not let steam out. We contacted Hhgregg where we purchased and not much help. This product is under warranty; definitely a design problem and a company who is not willing to look into or correct it.

Now less than two years later, the memory board is bad again. Unfortunately, KitchenAid will only cover the part, not the labor, which we all know is the most expensive part. When my repairman called for a replacement part, he was told it was a very popular item because apparently, the memory board needs replacement often. Warning: Do not buy this dishwasher.

Also for several months had to do an additional rinse as the dishwasher retained soap. This was our second dishwasher purchased in two years. Obviously, appliances are not made to last anymore. We had an old Inglis dishwasher that lasted for over fifteen years. My advise. Buy the cheapest one and if you get two years out of it, toss and replace!

Kitchenaid Dishwasher Child Hazard Causes Damage To Cabinetry: I purchased
Kitchenaid Dishwasher Child Hazard Causes Damage To Cabinetry: I purchased new KitchenAid Proline KUDE40SPX3 to match our Wolf/Sub-Zero equipment. After several months, we noticed our cabinetry adjacent to the dishwasher was starting to warp and peel paint. We initially believed that the cabinetry was defective. Then one evening, our little 3-year-old screamed in horror from the kitchen. She had a burn on her face and said the dishwasher did it. We then noticed the steam coming from the side vent of the unit. The louvers are positioned so that the steam under pressure is directed downward. However, since the vent is adjacent to the kitchen cabinetry, the steam not only hits the cabinetry but is directed in front of the dishwasher. Most dishwashers have the vent at the top of front door lip, which directs the steam up and away from the front of the dishwasher. I notified KitchenAid Customer Service. Their first response was that the unit was 1 month out of warranty and they referred me back to Pacific Sales where I purchased an extended warranty. Pacific Sales extended warranty department stated that the defect was a manufacturer defect and not an electrical or mechanical defect and directed me back to KitchenAid. KitchenAid then agreed to send a service rep out and would cover any parts and/or labor to repair the defect, including any venting kit. They also said that the manual has a disclosure about the side venting; however, I pointed out there is no such disclosure and no special instructions with regards to steam being emitted out the side/front and being a potential hazard to children and surrounding cabinetry. KitchenAids factory repair rep came and observed the defect and notated such back to KitchenAid. Then, KitcheAaid took the position that it was not responsible since it was no longer within the 12-month warranty period.

Our problems with this dishwasher have been multiple over the 2 years and 5 months we have owned it. The electronic control board went bad almost immediately. This was fixed under warranty almost immediately. A few months later water leaked out of the machine and damaged our floors. We received a letter from KitchenAid owning up to the problem, with our model listed among the problem machines. When I called Customer Service to schedule repair I was told the serial number did not match up and that nothing could be done for us. The latest disaster is the warping, popping and breaking of almost all the plastic parts in the upper basket. Again, KitchenAid refuses to stand behind its miserably made product: I am told that I am out of warranty and that the Extended Service plan I purchased does not cover plastic parts. I will never again purchase a KitchenAid large appliance. I will not deal with a company that refuses to stand behind its product.

Purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher July, 2011 from ABT model# KUDS30IXBL (manufactured 2010). Beginning January, 2015 it would occasionally drain and shut down, mid wash cycle. I thought I had done something wrong. But it continued and finally did it every time it was used. The dishwasher is only used twice a week. On 4/18/2015 ABT serviced replacing the Electronic Control Panel (under warranty). Service call labor cost $164.00. On 4/8/16 while the dishwasher was in use, loud sounds like fireworks (identified as electrical arcing) came from the dishwasher and clouds of black smoke came from the top of the door, with strong burning plastic choking fumes. We turned the circuit breaker off, to prevent any further risk of damage to the kitchen or house.Called ABT for service and found out since the Electrical Control Panel had already been replaced once there would be a charge of $186.09 for a replacement of the Panel plus $164.00 for the service call/labor cost, plus charges for any other parts needed. We then called a local service company, that we know and trust. Their service call charge is $60.00 and they took the front door off and there was the burnt control panel and the wire harness. The service tech was astonished at the damage. His quote of $450.00 which included replacement of the wire harness and electronic control panel (which we were told the only electronic control panels available were refurbished).Im writing this so others can be aware of the fire hazard this dishwasher is. Very scary! If you have this model you may be better off getting rid of it. We bought a whole suite of KitchenAid large appliances (from Fergusons) for our new home build. We have been very satisfied with the performance of all - UNTIL the dishwasher tore up. It was still under the factory warranty. We called the issue in and there was a local company (American Appliance) that arrived 3 weeks later to repair. They discovered that the heating element of the dishwasher was broken and needed to be replaced. They ordered the part. They said it should arrive in 7-10 business days. After that amount of time, I called to be told that it was on backorder. They didnt have any clue of when the part would be back in stock. Therefore, we started reaching out to KitchenAid directly. We have spent over 6+ hours trying to reach KitchenAid and to speak to their technical department, parts department, warranty group, and finally complaint group. We have been told multiple things - there was a recall on the part (cant confirm that one), the part was out of stock and would not be in stock until after December 30 (totally unacceptable), and that the part was finally now in stock. We were told on July 8 that the part would go out to us on a truck the next day. Apparently that didnt happen. We have been on the phone with KitchenAid complaints again today for over 1.5 hours (more time) to be told that the part has been ordered but has not been pulled and shipped yet and that it would take another 2-3 weeks for that to happen. We made the choice to buy Kitchenaid (Whirlpool) appliances for our new house because they are American made and felt that they would stand behind their products. We are so dissapointed in how this has been handled. We are going to be without our dishwasher for at least 2+ months (and we are a family of 6 people). Our disappointment comes from both the quality of the part but even more importantly the way we have been treated and the repair handled once it tore up. I would not recommend them today. I would be cautious because if you have issues it is not an easy road to travel! Our warranty has not been very effective up to this point.

Upper rack was over designed with too many moving features causing inherent weaknesses in plastic components. One year after use started the first plastic tabs started breaking. Without buying a whole new rack there was only one option. Had to figure out stainless steel bolts and nuts to replace broken tabs. Tedious but do-able. I believe most people (probably 95%) do not adjust the racks anyway because they are complicated to adjust. Why build things that break? Just keep it simple! Otherwise this dishwasher works great. It is very quiet and washes well. Clean look. If they would make the upper rack as simple as the bottom rack it would be bullet proof. But no, the Kitchenaid engineers and marketing people had to complicate it by putting in breakable features most people do not use. Thanks for messing up an otherwise great product. Now figuring out my fourth set of bolts to keep the upper rack in place and gliding like it should.
