My family moved into a new home with nice-looking Viking appliances in the kitchen. We only experienced minor malfunction of the refrigerator in the 1st year. After 14 months, or about 7 weeks ago, the range knob that controls the range fan motor stopped working, and I contacted Viking warranty service a week later. A local authorized repair shop was quickly assigned the job and they determined they have to replace the knob, and they need to order it through Viking for that, in order to comply with Viking warranty policy. And I was told to wait about 3-4 days.A week later, I called the repair shop only to find out the knob is on back order, and I need to wait 2 more weeks. And 2 weeks later, it was still not invoiced through Viking parts, and now 6 weeks later, the range is still not repaired!!! And the shop has no idea/no control over when the part will come in. They also told me in one case, a customer had to wait a year and 2 months for some parts to come in! It had been very frustrating not having a working range in the kitchen! It is even more so to think Viking warranty service is so lousy and unreliable! I am so disappointed how long I have to wait (so far) for warranty service for a common appliance! If I have to pick new appliances, I will not pick Viking.

I bought a fridge and dishwasher back in 2011. The fridge was fine, however, the dishwasher was just dreadful. After going through several channels, a Viking rep told me to pull it out and sell it. Eventually, the store where I bought it ended up replacing it. I then opted for a Miele dishwasher. In June 2013, I decided to try again with Viking. I ordered a range top, range hood with fan, and warming drawer. The range top had to be replaced as it arrived very badly scratched and dented. It was yet another ordeal to get it replaced. The warming drawer is sitting all apart on my living room floor. Ive never had the chance to use it because the cabinet rubs against the drawer and screeches metal to metal when trying to use it.The Viking rep sent out a panel to be screwed into the base of the drawer to keep it flat but that did not work. Now we have another part ordered but Viking has the flippant attitude of telling us they have no idea when the part will arrive. In order to complete the remodel of my kitchen I needed double ovens and a microwave. I chose Jenn Air, and could not be happier with their products. Also, their customer service is outstanding. Viking is definitely the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. Their customer service is just horrendous.

The Viking refrigerator size fits really well into the already pre-sized area for a refrigerator in the house I purchased and the range was packaged with it. And Ive cooked on the ranges before and they were good so I decided to buy one. But when I got it, it was broken and it took them about a month to repair it. The problem was the two of the valves werent working. So if I had the gas on on the stove, it was constantly leaking gas so we had to keep the gas off all the time.Vikings preferred vendor that they hooked up with me was just a nightmare. So everything just took a long time. Like the parts took a long time to come in so they took a long time to come. But they were able to have it fixed last week. It took them a week to come out and look at it, and then it took them almost two weeks for the part to come in. And then it took them another week to come and actually fix it.But The customer service woman I spoke to was really nice. Shed provided me with tracking update and would call the company. I think its just a matter of them getting a more reliable, certified Viking repair specialist because when you have to rely on one place, locally that doesnt seem to make your priority, that can get a little frustrating. But other than that, Viking themselves seemed to be pretty good in terms of their customer service, like being responsive to me. But if you spend almost $6,000 on a stove, it should probably come to your house working. And then your customer service is only as good as the people you have working with you, and partnering with you and I didnt think it was wonderful.

The Viking Range seems to be fine but when I ran a little bit of problems, Viking didn’t care until the people I bought it from pushed them. It was brand new and I just cleaned off the griddle. That was when I noticed it was damaged. There were two pit marks in it and with the amount of money I spent for it, I didn’t want a damaged griddle. They sent a replacement part and there was a trough and a backplate but they forgot to send the screws. I talked to the people I bought from since they just delivered it and they tried to contact Viking. Viking said they were not replacing it and the rep from the dealership had to push them to get in order to get it replaced. The customer service wasnt that great in order to get something replaced. Other than that, I like the whole thing and it’s a great range.

Weve heard about Viking from friends since we moved to the US. The realtors also recommended them and told us that they were good for the reselling of the house. So, we went with Viking for their reputation and we bought a built-in refrigerator from them. We love its looks and the lights on the side, and how spacious and practical it is. A repair has already been done on it because there was a problem with the accumulation of ice in it, but that was dealt with promptly and professionally. So far, everything has been great with Viking.

We had the range installed about three weeks ago and we love it. This is a Series 5 model and the one thing that we dont like about it is the fact that the knobs got that little blue marker at the top and we thought it would lit up when you turn it on to show that its on, but they dont. Its there just to show the off position. We do have the LED lights under the panel that come on, but youve gotta physically look at every knob to make sure that theyre in the off position to make sure its not on a really low simmer where you cant see the flames. They should put a light on each one of those knobs to show when you turn it on. Other than that, it’s performing well. We cook a lot on it.I looked at some of the other models that were less expensive. Some of them were half the price but then, I looked at the consumer reviews and the people that were giving it 4 or 5 stars were only about 60%. But the Viking Range was in the high 90s. Some of these other ranges look good, but according to a lot of the customers who had bought them, they didnt function properly. So that was the main driving force for going with a Viking.

We liked the Viking brand name and the look of their products. So, we redid our whole kitchen with all Viking and got their products through a dealer. Our Viking range is good and powerful but it is so much stronger than what I was used to, so I burned a pot early on. That has been a learning curve for me and I dont know if that’s in the materials because it’s sort of overwhelming when you get all new appliances and unpack from a renovation. That might be my fault but that could be somehow highlighted for other people. Also, there was a problem with the ranges starter from the beginning so I had to have that repaired. One of the grate panels rusted, too and it was replaced. But the black on the replacement is a little different though and it doesn’t match the others if you look at it. Plus, a little piece fell off of one of the grates and I still have to glue it. I paid for it and Viking was supposed to send us two pieces of that but they sent only one. I also find it difficult to clean or get stuff off the stove top, although I try to not worry about it as much. That has been a bit of a learning curve as well. We have the Viking range for a little over two years so far and I don’t think that these problems should have happened. That is not what I would expect.

I purchased a Viking 30 electric cooktop Model RVEC3305BSB. It was installed and after they left, I turn on the stove to cook. One of the lights remained ON indicating that the heating element is HOT when the stove is not even on (the light stayed on since then, and it still on). I called Viking and they send someone to fix the issue. The guy said they had to order the part and it was going to take a week. His words hopefully thats the issue, if its not then Viking will switch it for another one. I called to get the status and this time they said 10 days! I called Viking to complain and they said it was expedited to a week. It is not what I expected from a brand like Viking. I bought a new appliance, and yet it has to be fixed, why not replace it with one that has no issues and save us all the inconvenience of all these calls and following up? I am frustrated and disappointed with how this was handle.

I purchased all Viking products for my home. The exterior look is excellent but looks are deceiving! Almost every interior component of my refrigerator (VCSB483D) has had issues. Cracked butter covers, drawers that crack and fall off the track, track that wont support drawers, cracked freezer interior lining, ice maker issues, drain issues. The problem is Viking does not really seem to want to help you when its under warranty (loopholes like cracked components are cosmetic) why should that matter! Ive owned many non luxury brands that not only held up better, the manufacturers stood behind their products.

We love our two Viking refrigerators. The only thing my wife ever wanted was some type of outside water and ice. Other than that, Viking has great quality products and great service. Recently, our microwave door would not open. We had a Viking service guy out and hes great. We dont even have to be at our house. He has our code to get in. Hes having to order parts and that microwave has only been installed for less than six months.

I bought a new home and Viking came with it. I like that the appliance cooks well. To be honest though, I haven’t had the best experiences. We’ve had to have some repairs for every appliance since I’ve lived here in one year of owning brand-new products. So I’m not exceptionally thrilled. I have a fridge, a stovetop and a microwave. There was some build-up of ice in the freezer. The most aggravating part is that I sit and wait for installers all day long. Then, they do it over and over and over, so it doesn’t sit very well. I had three times they had to come out for the freezer and the stovetop. Twice they had to come out for the microwave. But at this moment, everything is working fine.

We liked the look of Viking and their reputation as well so we went with them. Were not so thrilled with the double wall oven but the refrigerator is awesome. The quality is excellent and this is probably the best refrigerator weve ever owned. Its so easy to navigate in there. You can see and reach everything. But the ice maker could be improved. The bin that the ice goes into should be raised in the back so that the ice falls to the front. Im always winding up with ice all over the floor and on the inside of the freezer because it builds up then theres no way to open the freezer without the ice falling over like a deck of cards. Other than that, weve had a fairly good experience so far.

We wanted a happy marriage of performance and utility so we figured wed buy Viking. One of the big things involved in my purchase was BTUs, the power of the burners. I had something which was similar but the Viking range outperformed anything that Ive ever used. Its so much more efficient. I also have their microwave and we’ve had zero issues with it. Were super happy with it. I had paid for installation and delivery because that was part of the whole package. But with COVID, they couldnt do it. I just got my handyman to come and install it and it was super easy. The performance has been amazing. I love cooking on it. Its one of those free-standing ranges. However, the convection oven button blew out in about a month which kind of surprised me. I had used it once. Once I turned the convection oven on, I could not turn itself off. It was still under warranty so I did call Viking. The people at Viking were amazing. They were like, “Yes, absolutely. Its all covered. Its a brand new appliance. That should have never happened.” The service technicians that they contracted out to, not so much. I live in Austin and it took them forever. It ran for two days straight before they could come out and turn it off. Then they told me that there was some circuit that was broken so they needed to order a part. They came out and said they had the part. Five minutes later, the guy said it was the wrong part and left. I received no communication to the point where I had to reach out to Viking. I wrote them a very lengthy email saying, “Im not happy. This is not what I expected out of a premium product. This may not be you directly, but this is your contractor. I havent heard from them. Theres no timeline and its been months. Finally, it got fixed after multiple trips three weeks ago. That was not super nice.

Viking Ranges popped up as being nearest to my house when I did an online search. I like the brand. The stove is great, reliable and is a beautiful piece. They’re known for that but unfortunately, that’s the only thing they’re known for. I have the hood on top of the vent but it stopped working so, I called them. The customer service was very short. When some guy came out, he said that he had to change the whole part and he was going to overcharge me for something. But I was able to fix it by myself and it was just a loose wire. I grabbed a screwdriver, took it apart, took the thing out and then was able to put the wire back in place and now it works fine. It was pretty evident what was going on where it was a failure in the switch but they tried to scam me and make me buy a whole new piece which is ridiculous to me. I also have a Viking dishwasher and I figured that they could fix it. The technicians came out, was very nice and he did his best trying to fix the problem. He accomplished it ‘cause the dishwasher started working again but it was for half a day. The next day it stopped working and continued to be clogged. When I called back the technician to see if he could come back and repair it again, he never showed. He said he would call back and see if he would reappear but he never did. Eventually, I stopped calling him and I had to call a new place. I had to pay for somebody who will fix everything that the Viking technician wasnt able to fix. I was charged twice to get the repair. After that, I was reading reviews online and thought I should’ve gone with the different dishwasher. Viking doesn’t seem to have a very reliable dishwasher. The dishwasher is terrible. It keeps breaking down, flooding, it’s not easy to use, and it’s a disaster. On the whole, Viking is known for being exceptional and I have no complaints with the stove. Its phenomenal and it always works out great. But I would totally advise others to buy a different brand of dishwasher.

Viking Combi oven model vcso210ss - This is an unsafe product. The trays on this small unit have no stops. As a result of this design defect, the trays slide forward and down. Because of this downward motion, anything on or in the tray has the potential to splash or fall onto the door, which pulls down, or onto the hands of the consumer. Fortunately, no injuries to date but will probably use mostly in the microwave mode which requires no tray.

The one we bought was the 48-inch and it had the ice and water in the door, and we had a small fire inside the freezer door because the wires melted together. We liked what we had heard about Viking then we have a friend that put in a Viking and we liked the setup of it. We got the built-in refrigerator and its not as deep as a regular refrigerator, which we like because things dont get lost in the back of it, but its taller. We like the door, the freezer section in the bottom, and the way that the drawers are self-closing. We can arrange them to where we have a place at the bottom that we can put platters into or a pizza box or whatever we want to. We also like the fact that everything was made out of metal. Aside from the refrigerator, we also got the French door double oven, the six burner cooktop with the griddle and thee optional griddle, the vent hood, two warming drawers, and a microwave, from Viking. We love the quality of our Viking appliances and we would recommend them highly.

30 months ago I bought a new built apartment in the Dominican Republic that came with a new 48 Viking professional refrigerator. It started to malfunction (not cold enough, not making ice cubes, making loud noises and not refrigerating altogether) soon after we got it. Kitchen Center in Santo Domingo, who supplied it, did not want to do anything about it pretending that the 12 months warranty had passed. Kitchen Center finally agreed to replace it with a new one at the condition that I pay them an extra USD $7,500.00 which I did. The new fridge is also malfunctioning and has the same issues. A Viking representative offered to change it about 4 months ago but Kitchen Center does not want to honor this promise.

I do a lot of work in Buckhead and different areas seem to have a Viking equipment. It’s something that I liked, the looks and the quality, so I pursued it on my own and bought the equipment. Upscale equipment has always been nice. It doesn’t matter what company, everybody is going to have a problem at some point. But having Viking distributor just about a mile away works out good for me. However, the door on the freezer and door on the refrigerator does not match. The finish on the door is totally different from the cooler. Otherwise, it’s a superb product. I got a good feedback on it so it’s a great and nice looking product with the exception of just a few hiccups. My favorite feature is the dual-fuel oven. Three years ago we built our dream home and in it we decided to go high end on all the kitchen appliances. Our oven/range and dishwasher were both Viking. In fairness to all reading this...I love my Viking oven/range. I got the 48 version with 6 burners and a griddle and two ovens. The only thing I regret about it is I wish I had gotten a larger griddle rather than two extra gas burners. So, that being said, I could not be more disappointed in our Viking dishwasher. It NEVER washed the dishes well and drying the dishes was also a big disappointment. We paid over $1200.00 for a dishwasher that not only performs absolutely horribly, but also has started to fall apart. Within two years (of course it broke after the first year because it only had a one year warranty) the L.E.D. displays have already lost half of their lights. One of the folding dish holders in the bottom section has already broken. And this is with just my wife and I living at this home, and for the first year it was our second home.I did call the company I bought it from even though it was out of warranty to see if Viking may actually come through and take care of it, but was told that they wouldnt. Elite Appliances in Dallas is who we bought it through. When Elite gave me the name of someone who could come look at it, the trip charge alone was going to be $125.00. When I inquired what he thought the cost to repair the L.E.D. display...well over $400.00.I am in the real estate investment business and have remodeled well over 100 properties. Ive used nearly every major brand you can imagine and the Kenmore Elite series dishwasher that I paid about 1/3 of the cost of the Viking in our previous home was much more efficient. Let me clarify. The Kenmore worked. The Viking doesnt. Avoid them. Overpriced and under performing piece of junk.

We were doing a remodel and we wanted something a little higher end. We bought our Viking refrigerator at Best Buy as we had a significant number of credit card reward points and we went with the Best Buy cards. We bought it before our remodel and we didn’t take it out of the storage until around early spring in 2018. We had significant problems with it over the summer and we had the technician out at least seven times. It was still under warranty at the time and what was happening was the refrigerator side of it would never be at the set point. Oftentimes, it was at 45. The tech was out to try different things and replace the electrical panels. By the last time, they ended up replacing the entire electrical panel and it has been okay since then. It still is not perfect though, and it seems to be hit or miss. If the set point is supposed to be at 38, it struggles to get a 38 on the refrigerator side. I like the refrigerator, nevertheless. It is prominent and it sits really well in our kitchen. At the same time, we were forced with the contractor company because they are the ones who handle the warranty. As long as it is under warranty, we have to go with them. We would wait for a significant period of time for the parts to come in and it got to be a really long, laborious process. The guy with the refrigeration company would complain that there were changes going on at Viking, where the warehouses were, and it was hard to get parts. It was frustrating when we had already invested on a Viking refrigerator, stove, dishwasher and range. I couldn’t just call Viking and say, “Look, replace this thing,” because we had to go with a particular company to do the repair. This issue started in May or early June and we were still dealing with it by the end of July. On one hand, there are things about the Viking refrigerator that I really like. I like the way it looks in my kitchen, and the freezer is working fine. On the other hand, the refrigerator and the whole repair and problem-solving process seem really cumbersome. Why did it take three months to resolve? I am dissatisfied with that.

When we were searching for a range, some people were trying to sell me Wolf, Thermador, and Bertazzoni. There were some other brands they were telling me and I didn’t like what I was hearing. They were also telling me not to buy Viking but I stuck with my plan to either buy Wolf or Viking. I looked at Wolf first but then I didn’t like what some people were telling me about Wolf. They have good equipment but the price was extremely high. Then I found a guy who was willing to negotiate the prices so I decided to go with Viking. He did a really great job. He brought out all kinds of brochures that he had and gave it to me for me to look into it. Im gonna go back to his place because we are also interested in buying a refrigerator and we want to go with Viking. My wife and I are really happy with the Viking equipment that we bought. Everything’s working very well and we love that. Viking is the best.

Weve purchased a whole lot of Viking in our past two houses and Im done. We bought an 8 burner dual fuel range when we remodeled our house. Within one month of when we could start using it, we had problems. In the 3 years since the remodel started, weve had service out a minimum of 10 times and they cant nail down a problem. They suggested keeping a log of issues which we did for a year. Showed dates and issues documenting a routine problem with the temperature not seeming right, uneven heating, self-cleaning doesnt work, pre-heat takes an hour and over fan takes more than an hour to turn off. Fixed several different pieces and STILL have such uneven heating that nearly everything comes out burned on the outer edges before the inner part will be cooked. Forget making a cake. The middle will be raw when the outside is done. Nobody from Viking will help. The regional manager called once while I was at work and wont return any calls after 5 attempts. Clearly just trying to look good on a report, not actually help. What I want to know is what about my written warranty AND the implied warranty of fitness for purpose (i.e., being able to cook things normally) that is supposed to be the law?! Not only will I never buy another Viking product. Im warning everyone I know against it also.

When we bought our house, it was furnished with brand new Viking professional series appliances. We have lived in our (new) house for 6+ yrs. Over that time period, the fridge has given us non-stop problems. The $8K+ fridge is inferior in performance to any standard appliance you could pick up at Lowes or Home Depot for a fraction of the price. Issues: Was subject to a recall - took 4+ mos to get recall parts delivered for a recall associated with a major safety issue (heavy fridge doors literally falling off the hinges and hurting kids... not some minor issue); Freezer stopped working. Have had 3 different Viking certified contractors come out to service it and it still doesnt work. Weve paid over $1K in fixes - none of which have actually worked.Entire fridge stopped working. May be the motherboard. May be the compressor. Will take months to get the part in and replaced. The compressor is under warranty but Viking will charge us $150 to ship the covered part back to them if its not in fact why the damn thing isnt working. In total, were looking at a minimum of 2+ mos to get it fixed. This is not the 3rd world, but if you have Viking appliances youd be forgiven for thinking it given how youre forced to survive for months without a working fridge. We have a mini fridge and wine coolers we are storing our groceries in... because our $8+ thousand dollar fridge doesnt work and cant get repaired in any kind of reasonable time frame with Vikings stipulations about who can and cant work on it w/o voiding the product warranty. All of our neighbors with Viking appliances have had THE SAME ISSUE. All of the certified techs will privately tell you Viking sucks. Their customer service is atrocious. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON VIKING. After reading very similar reviews, I cant for the life of me figure out how they are still in business.

We purchased a Viking Range and Microwave 5 years ago and we believed it would be a wise choice but it was anything but. The quality was poor. The oven door never closed right and the oven light stayed on all the time. And after many complaints we finally had to have service to change the hinges that never worked right. The bill for that was $600 and the electric oven takes way too long to heat up and the thermostat had to be changed twice. The microwave just failed and that is costing $400 to fix. I will never recommend Viking or the dealer Pacific Sales in So Cal to anyone, dont waste your money on Viking. They are not the company of the past and the quality and durability is no longer there, as for Pacific Sales after they take your money they are no longer interested in satisfying their customers needs. Frankly they suck at service and stand behind what they sell...

We bought the top-line Viking refrigerator as well as Viking oven and microwave through Best Buy, and Best Buy has been horrible. The communication around the third party that Best Buy uses for installation has all been really poor, and getting my appliances installed was the worst thing ever. First, the built-in $9,000-refrigerator was installed incorrectly. The installers failed to put a kickplate on the bottom of this refrigerator and they probably threw it away. So we had to have someone come out and that took a while. We’re easygoing people and we’re not that tough to deal with. However, I bought that refrigerator in early June and to this day, I dont have the kickplate yet, so that has been frustrating.Best Buy has a customer service troubleshooter that was assigned to us. That person was really nice but has been lousy on follow-up so we called and left messages. When I finally got a hold of Best Buy’s case manager, he said that Best Buy was told that the manufacturer did not have the kickplate in stock. So I told them that I was gonna call Viking, which I should have done early on. When I called, I spoke with their customer service person who was great and a really nice lady too. I asked her about the kickplate that is missing and she said they had them in stock, which was what I anticipated the whole time. We havent heard anything back yet, but a company is supposed to call us. Still, Viking is a premium brand and they have been responsive to us and the experience with them has been great.

Our Viking sealed 6 burner cook top is about 8 or 9 years old. Five of the 6 burners are fine. One burner (front right of course) ignites, but keeps clicking the starter for all 6; after it ignites. Called Viking and then their genuine parts distributor for suggestions and parts. Bought a new sensor (with only comes with ring) for about $90.00 with shipping. Although they wanted me to buy a $50.00 tool to remove/install, I rigged my own special wrench to unscrew and screw in the ring/sensor. In short, the burner does the exact same thing it did before. A lot of time, effort and $90.00 wasted. As an FYI: when we did this kitchen, we also got a Viking built in side by side refrigerator. After 3 defective units in less than 6 months, they gave me my $$ back. All units were bad in multiple ways. Gotta give them credit as they really tried to satisfy my wife and me, but they just could not. I hope I have better luck with this professional style range top. To be continued....

I was doing a re-do and I didn’t do a lot of research. I recognized the Viking name and I expected it would be a quality product. Since the moment they went in, I find the customer service to be horrific. We had some issues. The stove was leaking. The refrigerator was leaking. The dishwasher hasnt been working properly. All kinds of things. Trying to get through to their customer service meant I needed to reach out to some third party contacts. It was very hard to reach them by phone, I had to email them. It took over a week to hear back before they even got in touch with me.Then they had to contact a service representative. The service representative from my area was horrific. He came into my home and said, “I cant really look at that for you. I cant really touch that because Viking’s not gonna pay me to do that,” which doesnt exactly lead me to believe that theres a lot of support for anything that goes wrong. Some of the things would have been super easy fixes have they just been willing to say, “Okay, its a brand new product, and were gonna help you.” But they didnt do that.My most recent issue was that the refrigerator is less than six months old, and the vegetable and fruit trays fell off the track. I couldnt get them back on. My husband couldnt get them back on. So we called and that was a month ago. To this day, we still have no answer on how they will rectify that situation. After two weeks, the horrific service man came, looked at it, touched it for one second, and said, “I think its cosmetic. It will be $325 to fix.” That was the last I heard from him. I told him were not paying $325. Its brand new and its not cosmetic. A track on a brand new refrigerator is in no way cosmetic. I didnt smash the stainless steel on the outside of the refrigerator or even crack the glass of a shelf, which I could understand. But a track is a working part. Thats unacceptable. My husband said yesterday that it is a piece of junk. We bought an entire suite as a rebuild. It was a big investment for us. It wasnt an easy purchase, it was something that we did because we thought it would add value to our home and it would be quality appliances, and we wouldnt have to call service a million times like we might have had to call if we bought GE appliances. But I would have been way better off with that. I also had Sub-Zero refrigerators for 35 years before this. Two of them only over 20 years each, and I never had to call the service company. The dishwasher, which we have not called them for service, already has parts that have fallen off of it. Its the most disappointing purchase of my life. I would never buy Viking again. I would never recommend it. The refrigerator, over $10,000 just for the one piece of equipment, they got to have better service. This is not acceptable. Even if the customer ends up having to pay, which I should not have to pay for that, I should at least get somebody to answer my question. I should have a supervisor or a manager call me back to say this shouldnt happen.

The techs came in and had to replace the whole shelf because they noticed that it wasn’t glued in from the factory. It came apart. The middle shelf that we had to have repaired that had the deli drawers in it isnt stable enough to put heavy items on it. And there is no other place to put heavy items on it. There should have been a middle bracket in the middle to support it against the back of the refrigerator. The new half freezer and half refrigerator is something new to me. I feel like it’s small. But the product is fine.

Our experience with the range so far has been very nice. The only thing is that when were trying to light the burners, they dont ignite really quickly. The cleanup of ours is manual but we havent had issues doing it ourselves. The only downside is that theres no thermostat and you cant see what temperature the ovens at. Other than that, I recommend purchasing one. Just make them give you an oven thermometer. For what you pay for the stove, I would think they would give you one of those.

I like the qualities that the Viking Range has as well as the look. I chose it since I wanted more of an industrial look in my kitchen and a product that was mostly made in America. But I had a little disappointment. When the range was installed, it wasnt installed appropriately. I think it was set to propane when my home is on natural gas. Beyond that, I had to have four service calls because the oven was not working properly. It would come to temperature and then it would just shut off. I questioned my judgment in choosing to pay a premium for that appliance and then I have to do so many service calls to figure out whats wrong with it. The servicemen checked the stove then talked to Viking. They decided it required a specific solution and put that solution in place. They went away and then the next time I used the oven, it was clear that it hadnt been fixed. They went through a process of elimination to figure out what the problem was but it took some time. The good news is that the range works beautifully now and I am pleased with it.

We moved in our brand-new house in November around Thanksgiving and the Viking refrigerator was in it. Ive never had it working since Day One. In less than a year, I have lost everything twice in there. The ice and water dispenser have not worked and part of the problem was there was no local repairman. I went online and found the only authorized repairman in the state but he happened to be two hours away. I talked to him and he was nice enough but he was gonna charge an arm and a leg to come up here. He tried to talk me through it and gave me some instructions. It got better at least but it has been infuriating and I don’t know how to get it resolved other than to get the guy from Laurel to come and see about it.

I have owned Viking appliances before like the stovetop and the double oven in my previous home and now in a different home, my Viking refrigerator is doing great. It keeps everything cold and the frozen food frozen and makes ice. Weve been well pleased. I had an excellent experience with the Viking dealer, too. I do real estate development work and have used the company Ferguson for a lot of things and they do an excellent job. Their guy is very knowledgeable. He can answer all the questions and was very helpful to make sure that we were fully informed on what we need to be informed on. It was good price and he handled everything perfectly. Viking is high quality, top-of-the-line and a great product to invest in. They did the gas cooktop in a good way for a modern look. Through the years, they kept it looking the way I like it. Its of great quality, too. I had a great experience thats why Im buying a Viking again.

Now self cleaning has failed, and oven hinge has again failed. Yesterday the bottom oven heating element melted open. Thats enough for us, I intend to put it out front with a lemon on top. One of the lights wouldnt work and one of the burners wouldnt ignite, so we ended up getting services on day one. Its been working fine since. Its weird getting used to a non-digital oven as this ones a lot more manual so that was a little bit of a transition. But I like it more. It seems like fewer things to break. UPDATED 12/11/2020: Ive had an appliance repair person to the house 5 times since then and the cooktop is still having issues. Good luck getting a return call from Viking Customer Service. It took 3 calls (with messages left) to get a call back the last time. I just left another message today. The repairman left after replacing the burner plate and was sent a faulty switch by Viking so its still not working. Never again will I purchase a Viking appliance. I tried to buy American and help out my fellow Americans, but its no good. I dont know what happened to this company. Id always heard good things about them. We have a Viking double oven and a Viking microwave as well. NEVER again.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I purchased the 30 Induction Cooktop in April 2020. Model (VICU53014BST). Honestly we loved the way it works; boils water in less than 1 minute and cooks evenly. 2 months in, 2 of the 4 burners stopped working. Had the dealer/repair company come out and they determined it was the generator board ($2800). Its covered under warranty for 2 years, so we just have to wait. They ordered the new generator board, got it in, and came out to install it. It was defective. Its been 5 days and we havent heard anything. I called Viking and they said I just had to wait for the repair company. My disappointment is that we paid over $4000 for a cooktop thats worked about 2 months, and then we got a defective repair part. I expected much better from Viking. I wanted to write this review to let those who are considering this brand to know what to expect. Im not sure I would buy a Viking again. Their response was very poor and very un-empathetic.

I’ve had friends with Viking and I thought it was a really good one. But mine has had a lot of trouble. My range was put together wrong so it burned out wires. It won’t work half of the time. I’ve only had it since November and I probably cooked on it three months out of all these months I’ve had it. It’s not really good. Viking sent someone to look at it and they worked on it one time, replaced some things, and got it going. But something else went wrong and maintenance people were sent to check it but Viking refused to pay for the service. They were supposed to get in touch with me to figure out what Viking is gonna do about my problem. The guys who worked on my unit said Viking just needs to send me a new one because mine never worked. We’ve spent a ton of time and I haven’t been able to use my range. It’s still sitting there. Viking got feedback from me and I’m still waiting on them to call me back. They won’t return my phone calls. I used my unit when it worked but I waited two months to fix it the first time. That’s so unsatisfactory. I need someone to fix my Viking.

Wow. Im glad I discovered this site. It is somewhat comforting to know that so many other people have been totally screwed by Viking CRAP. My $10,000.00 Professional refrigerator is a total joke. The produce drawers freeze everything. The inside is fragile plastic and replacing parts is a nightmare. I talked to a carpenter just today about re-configuring the cabinetry that the Viking Professional (48 X 83) is built into, and replacing it with a normal refrigerator designed for a home. I also bought a double Thermador oven and 48 cooktop. I like it, but was told by the store that the appliances were purchased from that when things start to break on the stove, I wont be able to replace any parts because Thermador has an aggressive obsolescence policy, and you cant get parts after 7 years.I will replace the cooktop with a Wolf cooktop when it finally stops working.

We had a Sub-Zero and then we decided to try a Viking. We wanted a freezer on the bottom rather than the side to side, and it’s stainless steel. However, we’ve had some problems with the freezer as it stopped working. Somebody came in and defrosted the drain line or whatever that gets clogged up with a hair dryer. We had to spend about $400 to $500 to get that fixed as it was out of the warranty. Also, Im not all that impressed with the set up for the authorized repair. We called customer service, and the repair people are coming again tomorrow. But it’s like I’m talking to somebody where I got a phone bank somewhere, and it’s not a local business. For one thing, we can’t find the stupid model number or the serial number. They’re underneath somewhere strange in the back of the freezer, and one can’t get down there to see it. Also, the other day, one of those bookcases with the sliding shelves on the door broke apart for no reason. I had to order from Viking a new one for a couple hundred dollars for half of one of those bookcase sliding units. It’s so stupid that I’m trying to get that plastic. This unit just broke apart for no reason, and then I’m trying to go find the model number and the serial number so that I could talk intelligently with Viking support, and I can’t get it. The only way I found it was to go back to the original invoice from ABW who were the people who get all the appliance for us when we were renovating the kitchen. Other than having these incidents, Viking is a good refrigerator and we like it.

I was looking for refrigeration, and I was doing renovations. I went online. I had wanted to upgrade from what I currently had, which was the JennAir Professional Series. I wanted something on the Wolf or Viking line. I did not go with Wolf because I could not afford the Sub-Zero Refrigerator. So, I decided to go with Viking. I looked at the reviews. I had ordered it from an appliance shop. Then I went to Ferguson Showroom to see what it looked like because the appliance shop didnt have a display. I knew it was looking like what I wanted it to look like. When I went to Ferguson, they didnt have any Viking on their floor. The salesperson said, “You know what, Latrina, I wish you would have came to us first because our customers had so many problems with Viking. But I couldnt have the contractors in because of COVID, so I had the products here for a while. So, they installed them, and now its about the eighth month. My microwave already went out. The refrigerator handles are not so nice. The guy who came and fixed the microwave also had to tighten up the handles. At the top of the refrigerator shelf, you can set it to different levels. At the very top, it’s freezing my food. I cant set it to go any lower than the level that it’s at. Viking needs to revamp.

The Viking range I have is really, really good so far. And my wife would probably say that the oven is what she liked best. It works great. We set it and it does its job. The dealers were friendly and very knowledgeable. Everything went well. With the exception of Pacific Sales that sold them to us, they were the worst people in the history of mankind. But Viking itself was great.

My Viking is about a year old, and within this first year, Ive had to replace an igniter for the griddle on the top and the bulbs for all the lights in the front. Ive found that the preheating cycle on these ovens is extraordinarily long compared to most other ovens. I dont like the feature that while its preheating, you cant put anything in because it will just scald it. There are some ovens that even during the preheating cycle, you can start heating up something or put your food in there. I do all my baking in my $500 gas oven because I just turn it on and I stick my stuff in. But I dont even use the oven of the Viking because it takes about 20 minutes just to preheat. I cant put anything in until the light turns off and its ready. Also, the ceramic paint on the top of my stove has already started to chip off so Ive had to put touch-up paint on it. I had a Dacor stovetop before this and I had it for 15 years, and the ceramic or painted metal part at the top never had any kind of scratching or damages. When I bought this Viking I thought, Wow, Ive got the top-of-the-line. I spent a lot of money. This is gonna be the best. But the burners have been very nice. I enjoy cooking on the gas burners.

30 Viking Gas Stove/Oven - Lots of issues with ignition, an expensive repair that you do not want. Viking should provide a YouTube video on how the do it yourself with reasonable priced replacement parts. Window seal in oven is falling out. Knobs are getting loose. Black paint on stove top surface scratched very easily when removing and replacing iron grates. I paid over $3K for this and cannot believe how poor the quality is. I will dump this heap and buy a Wolf.

Installed a Viking kitchen including dishwasher 4 years and 11 months ago. Dishwasher failed just short of 5 years. Viking service came out & advised that electrical components, wiring harness and rubber seal failed. I paid $180 for service call and Viking refused to help in any way to repair the dishwasher. Service advised me that replacement was the only practical option as multiple repairs necessary would be cost prohibitive. We are very disappointed in Viking quality (except for range). Purchase Viking products at your own risk is my advice. Many better options are available in the price range they market their products in.

We bought a Viking range in September 2010, and it has failed four times, since it was installed in December 2010. We really like the grill top of the range. The oven has failed when baking/cooking for long periods of times. Viking has a policy that they wont replace, until the unit fails 3 times, and required repairs 3 times. I am dumbfounded by this companys lack of service, and lack of quality products. It was a very disappointing experience. I dont recommend Viking products. Viking, thus far, has not exhibit customer service to resolve the issue. I am not sure what they will do next.

I’ve been having a lot of trouble recently with our Viking Refrigerator and it’s been one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. I liked the great arrangement design in the freezer and that it had a three-year warranty. But, the freezer leaks water onto the floor, which then pools under the fridge and then leaks into my basement. I have to get in there every week and break up the ice at the bottom of the freezer so it doesn’t break the seal. I sent an email to Viking several weeks ago and I was in touch with somebody there and we have emails back and forth. I opened up a service ticket about three months ago and I’m only now starting the service process since it wasn’t until this week that I actually got confirmation. They have a local appliance service person coming out and I’ve scheduled an appointment with them.

Let me start off with how terrible this company is with everything they do. They claim that they strive to be the best with customer service and this and that but its all false lies that any customer shouldnt believe. I will NEVER, EVER recommend this company to anyone or recommend anyone to buy any of their products as they are crap and parts need to be replaced numerous times throughout the year. A couple of years back we purchased a 7 thousand dollar Viking range and if I went on to explain the problems this oven has caused us it would go on and on forever. 500 dollar burners had to be replaced numerous times throughout the years as well as numerous other parts which werent working, leaving us with repairs worth more or equal to the price of the oven from day one. We decided to contact the company and put in a claim because we saw that they rebranded the company and a lot of complaints were filed with them in the earlier years about the same exact oven we had. They requested all repair documents even stating that they saw we had to get it repaired by them within the first few months. We spoke to a customer service representative named Lashelle ** and she was the most terrible one of them, all rude and didnt help with anything, barely got responses to emails and had to go out of our way to get a response back from her. She finished the review and said theres nothing they can do about the oven. Screw your company and crappy pieces of ** ovens which you do nothing for the customer who has problems with them. DO NOT BUY AS YOU WILL REGRET THIS PURCHASE SEVERELY.

Now, the refrigerator is not cooling enough. We called Pacific Sales. We called Viking. They both referred to Appliance Masters, technicians authorized and specialized Viking appliances. Three technicians have come out five (5) times: Changed the fan, changed the board, checked the vent, checked the thermostat, calibrated the temperature. The problem has not been resolved yet. When we first got the refrigerator, the bottom of the freezer started filling up with ice. The technician came out. Somehow, in the construction of the refrigerator, all this insulation had been sprayed down the tubes and supposed to drain that stuff out. They replaced the whole refrigerator. But then the bottom of each of the doors of the new refrigerator were all clogged up with the same sort of spray foam insulation. The technician came out again said that the doors needed to be replaced. NOW, Im going on five months waiting for that. Viking is just waiting for the new doors to be manufactured. The refrigerator works, but its not right yet, and I took a five-year extended warranty on it. With this defect, Im wondering if that five-year extended warranty is going to be extended when I finally get a refrigerator that works properly. I wish it was something that could be resolved in a timely manner. We absolutely love Viking Ranges. My dad had a Viking range and hood for about 15 years and he loved it. He’s an avid cooker and that’s what sold us on Viking. And we’ve not been disappointed. They’re wonderful and fabulous. We went through Best Buy in Fort Lauderdale and they ordered everything for us. We’ve got the range that’s gas, which we were thrilled to get here in Florida since there is no natural gas. We had to put in propane to get that. We’ve also got the hood and the Viking microwave. We didn’t have the microwave for a period because of a problem with the display, but it works fine now. Other than that, it’s great.I also love that the stove top is incredibly easy to clean up. I just have to take the grates right off. We had a décor stove top in our previous house in New Mexico and that one was awful to clean. I like that the gas stove, as well as the oven, seems to cook evenly too. We’re always showing off our Viking appliances. We have pictures of them which we show to people.

No one has heard of this problem (they suggested the $5 inside thermostat which I got). Everything seems to check out but it is like all the moisture gets sucked out of really small items like cookies when cakes do fine. There must be something also wrong with the uneven heat because 2 roasted chickens had to be pan fried (with 8 guests offering suggestions) after 1.5 hrs of cooking at 425. I hate this oven. Im not very satisfied for the price I paid. The refrigerator has some issues. I have spoken to customer service and the year was going by and I thought I need to call them again. The refrigerator freezes food in the refrigerator area. But even at the bottom of the refrigerator, Im starting to see some sort of accumulation. The maintenance people are not very familiarized because the rep told me that down where Im from, there are not many people that own Viking. But the lady that does also had the same issues of food freezing. The handles are very wobbly. I constantly have to tighten them up. It doesnt have a feature in the ice machine where it stops after it feels that it has made enough ice. For such an expensive and quality brand, those features would have been looked into. They had to also repair, just within purchase, the deli meat door because it was off. It was crooked. Right away, they sent the deli door. But the guy hasnt even called me. We bought a home thats a few years old, and it already had appliances in it as far as the refrigerator, oven, and microwave. Because I was doing a very large remodel in the kitchen, I needed my appliances to match. Weve heard really great things about Viking in the past, I didnt think twice about it. Well, was I ever so wrong. I should have just redid the whole kitchen for the amount of money that I ended up spending on Viking. We purchased a Series 5. Professional range, dual fuel, and with an overhead vent. Our dealer was Ferguson here in Houston. We didnt actually see it because they didnt have any on the floor but I said, “Well, we know were going to get it, so why do I need to see it? We’ll just buy it.” We ordered at the end of December because there was a special wherein if you buy the range and the overhead vent, you would get a free microwave. Ferguson does the installation, and there was too much back and forth with them. The guy and I were going back on whether it was a 7 or 10-inch blower hole, which is a very big difference and could be very costly if done wrong because youre cutting into an exterior wall. We ended up saying it should be a seven. But then when I was reading the notes of what I had purchased, it was saying that we needed a 10-inch hole. I called Viking and found out the salesperson at Ferguson ordered the wrong blower. Fortunately, I caught the mistake and didnt have the hole cut to 10 inches. I had them cancel the blower, reorder, and send us the correct blower.Ferguson wanted to come out for a second pre-site before they install the appliances to make sure we had done everything that met their criteria. We put in a 110 for the dual fuel range just like what they told us. The guy even wrote on my old crown molding on the wall 110. Guys came back for a check, and its a 240 or 220. At this point, my cabinets are done and its going to be very difficult to run a new electrical to the wall. My electrician somehow figured it out and was able to run a new electrical. He even called to confirm that you want for it to be hardwired into the wall. He was told, “Yeah, we dont need a plug. It just gets hardwired.” So he left it capped and ready for the range to be hardwired. Ferguson came and said, “No, it has to be plugged in.” Viking told us it could be hardwired, which Ive read in the installation manual personally but Ferguson said no and left the range in the middle of my kitchen. My electrician came back out and installed the plug. It was a whole mess but that’s just the beginning. My contractor said something was wrong with the vent hood. He held up a proper level, and the vent hood was crooked. When Ferguson installed the vent hood, they used a level that was one foot-long, so it wasnt really checking the whole thing. So they came back out to re-level it. They also ended up yanking the rubber feet off of the microwave because the hole that they measured for us was too small. The oven knobs were put on backwards so the oven wouldn’t come on. I was infuriated. I finally went back and looked at it after 30 minutes. I was like, “Oh, somebody put the knobs on wrong.” Okay, good. Oven works. I also had to pay a separate company to do ductwork because they wouldnt do it, which nobody could understand. We had a party with some friends on the 4th of July weekend. I went to cook a standing rib roast. Standing rib roast is cooked at 200 degrees until the rib roast reaches temperature. And then, from there, Im supposed to crank my oven to 500 and sear off that meat. Simple. Ive done this on a very cheap Samsung electric range, ‘cause thats what I had at my last house. The Viking never made it to 500. We waited for over an hour and a half. I have an existing Viking oven thats 13 years old, and it gets to 450 within a matter of minutes. So I dont understand why this big oven, thats brand new, and costs tens of thousands of dollars cant get a temperature. I called Viking, and the lady I got, Juanita, was not helpful. She said I have to have somebody come out. Ovens are finicky. My aunt has a Wolf and if you dont hit the button just so, it doesnt do what you want it to do. Juanita wasnt listening to my problem. I told her, Maybe I dont need somebody and you just need to tell me to click the button left or something.” She would not help me. The owner of the company came and said, “Well, it reaches 350 within the 25 minutes its supposed to. Theres nothing wrong with it.” I was like, “Something is wrong because its not getting to 500.” He said, “It gets to 350 in its normal time. But you need a new fan. Your fan’s loud.” I was like, “The thing is brand-new. How can I need a new fan?” He told me theres a Viking chart out in the world that Ive never gotten my hands on to this day, that is supposed to tell me how long it takes to go from 350 to 500. Theres an interval, like every 10 degrees, it takes 15 minutes or whatever it is. But he didnt know what it was. He tried to call Viking and he couldnt get it. I kept calling and would even try to talk to other Viking representatives but they said Juanita’s my case manager. Juanita was out of the office and they still would not help me.It took me until September to get it to work. For three months, I fought with people to get my oven to work. All they had to do was tell me, “If you would turn the oven off and turn it back on, itll use full voltage to go to 500.” What happens on Viking ranges is, once it hits the set temperature, it uses half the voltage to maintain the temperature of the oven that you have it set. Because you change your settings to a higher temperature, itll only use half the voltage to get to that point. Thats why Ive never reached 500. Horrible customer service. I was mortified by the service I received, especially after how much money I spent with Viking. Now that I know how the oven is supposed to work, I love it. Nobody could tell me that until right the second representative from Bar Appliance came out.

In the middle of December we went to a place called Famous Tate here in our city and we started looking around. We actually went there to purchase KitchenAid appliances but when we found the Viking, we liked it better. We needed a counter depth fridge and Viking seemed to have more interior space than all the other counter depth ones that we could find. We loved it. The only thing about it is that the ice maker doesnt make ice very quickly and it is just making 10 cubes a day. Their salesman was super nice though. We bought a brand new house and all the appliances were Viking. The original refrigerator that was discontinued was really substandard in the sense that the design was flawed. The freezer is at the bottom half so anything that tumbled from the refrigerator fell on the freezer and the freezer frame was dented. It kept getting dented. I wasnt very happy with the quality so I had to replace that with the model that came about after it was discontinued. I was trying to replace the bottom freezer and I called their parts department and one was better, but the other was charging me $2,000 just for the bottom freezer while a new model costs $3,500. Theres just no recourse as far as their customer service. In addition, somebody recognized that the design was flawed, so they changed it. The freezer frame was no longer stainless steel. It was very very hard plastic and it didnt jut out anymore. So, its horrible that such a design was at all created. There was no quality control. We then got a new refrigerator from Best Buy and they were pretty good except for the delivery that had so much bumbling all over the place. The first people who delivered it didnt know how to handle refrigerators because the foot was dented. Im very dissatisfied with all the Viking appliances we had and Im never going to recommend Viking ever.

We had a house built and installed all new Viking D3 appliances. We have had problems with every single one of them. We moved in in May 2013 and as of December, we have had the Viking repairman to our house at least 4 times. Who has time for that? Every time has been for the refrigerator and at least one other appliance. Every time we have had to throw away hundreds of dollars worth of food. As I write this review a few days before Christmas, the refrigerator randomly decided to stop working. Convenient now that I have a turkey and all of the other items to make Christmas dinner. I am so frustrated with this brand. After you spend the amount of money these appliances cost, you expect them to work. The authorized repair reps are idiots. Our repairman actually once told me that the refrigerator was leaking water all over the floor because we put leftovers in the refrigerator and bacteria crawled into the drain line and clogged it up. Um... what???!!! The refrigerator leaked on two different occasions and warped our wood floor. The repairman moved the refrigerator and scratched our wood floor. The oven took hours to cook anything - even a simple meatloaf. The shelves slid out once the door was open. The temperature fluctuated +/- 15 degrees. He told us that was normal or the food would burn. No. Just no. The burners on the gas range only light halfway around. The vent just stopped working. The dishwasher leaves dishes wet. I would never recommend these products to anyone. I wish I would have read these reviews first. I hope anyone that reads this decides against Viking. They are pretty, but they cost too much to have this many problems.

I am writing you this letter to make you aware of the quality control, R&D and customer service issues that you have with your products and within your company. As you read this letter, you will see that I have purchased quite a few of your products and have owned eight homes which exposed me to many brands. I also cook almost every night. Unfortunately, my Viking appliances have been the worst appliance purchases I have ever made. The issues I have with my Viking appliances are what I would expect from a much cheaper brand. With the money I spent on your products, I expected your products to be of commercial grade and able to hold up to repeated use. Based on the blogs all over the internet, I can see that my issues are in line with a lot of other folks. I have outlined the issues of each Viking product that I have owned for your review. In 2005, I bought a Viking 54 gas grill in Texas which I used through 7/8/2008. This item was a fire hazard waiting to happen. We used it 3-4 days per week. The grates that redirected the grease down to the grease pan were poorly designed. It was shaped in a V with round holes the size of a pencil eraser. The holes would clog and the grease and droppings would stay in the V. This forced me to clean them weekly to reduce the risk of fire (hardly ever had to clean the grease pan). Even after a thorough cleaning, you could not leave the hood down for extended time (even on low) or you would have a fire (my wife and post owner blew the knobs off the grill.). Fortunately, no one was in front of the grill at the time. I would never buy another Viking grill. The grates were a poor design. Weber and Wolfe have a much better design.I had a Viking dishwasher DFB450 (serial # 031109D00003895 & 031109D00003878) installed on 7/14/2009. I have two of them. First, the technology in the motherboard creates more problems than the benefits. After trying to reset the dishwashers by holding down the buttons (in manual), I can only get it to work occasionally. I do not know of too many people that enjoy pulling out the manual to decipher the many error codes your dishwasher has. There has got to be a better way to let the customer know what to do when an error light flashes. At least once per month, I have to flip the circuit breaker to each dishwasher to reset it. This cost me $75 for an appliance technician to show me this. I have never had this issue with the other seven brands I have owned. There is no indicator light to let you know the dishes have been cleaned (i.e., green light next to the blue running light). Since the dishwashers do not clean well all the time, we rinse our dishes off before putting them in the dishwasher and we end up running them again. Enclosed is a plastic clip that snaps in and holds a wire shelf for long spoons, knives, etc. All four clips are the same design thus preventing a snug fit causing the shelf to constantly fall/come undone. One of my clips broke (clip in itself is a bad design) and guess how much your company wanted to charge me to replace it? You can’t buy the clip. You have to buy the entire rack for $360 plus tax and shipping. You talk about putting the screws to your customer. Would you be happy if your clip broke and you could not replace it for a reasonable price? After about an hour on the phone with customer service, they finally authorized a new rack to be sent to me. How much did that cost you for the part and an angry customer? There is another plastic part (U- shaped) that snaps on to the right side of the dishwasher that also continually falls off. Again, this is what I would expect from the cheap brands, not a Viking. My two and a half year old dishwasher (031109000003895) needs a new heater/wire harness (part#016403-000/P870612). This is something that is not needed by most dishwashers until much later in their life cycle (never had this issue with any of my previous 7 dishwashers including the one we owned in Texas for nearly 10 years). Also, when the non-Viking technician came out to look at my problem (popping the circuit breaker), he noticed a wire that had been crimped badly which he thought was the cause to the circuit popping. After running the dishwasher and watching until it popped, it was determined that the heater was bad. Was the poor quality (crimped wire) the reason my heater went out? After arguing with your customer service department, I am having a Viking technician (Lakeview) come out to tell me why the wire is crimped and how it would affect other parts to my dishwasher. Unless he is a certified electric engineer, his word is not any better than the other technician. Unless this is covered by Viking, I am being given a $500 price to fix it. Before I throw that kind of money at a Viking product, I will replace it with another brand. Lakeview fixed the issue prior to me sending you this letter. Covered by Viking because of a bad harness. My last dishwasher of 10 years was a KitchenAid and I never had it serviced. We used it every day not every other day (have two) like this dishwasher.Viking 6 burner stove with griddle VGRC6056GDSS (Serial # 050609C00015117) installed 7/14/2009 - First time I used the griddle, one side did not heat up and one of the control knobs did not work. Viking replaced both. The convection switch keeps popping out due to a poor design. Should have a nut on the backside to hold it in place instead of a cheap plastic catch. My wife and daughters were baking Christmas cookies in 2009 and had to open the windows (Chicago) to cool down the kitchen. After looking at the stove, I noticed one oven door stuck out more than the other one. A non-Viking technician came out and replaced the hinges and made other adjustments. We have not had that problem again when baking Christmas Cookies. I won’t even touch on the clicking noise from burners not in use and the sound of the gas being blown-sounds like wind in the oven blowing out the flame. Again, this gets back to my letters theme - this is what I expect from a cheap brand not a $13,000 Viking product. After reading hundreds of blogs on the internet, I have a feeling the worst is yet to come. My last stove and oven (10 years) was a Jenn-Air and I never had it serviced. The hinges of my Viking refrigerator DFSB483 (serial # 051508R00010392) replaced to support the custom wood covers. If Viking is going to sell a refrigerator with custom built in capabilities, your R&D team should have accounted for weight greater than the heaviest wood cover. Heavy-duty hinges should have been the norm not the afterthought. My wife left Warming Drawer DFWD101 (serial number hidden behind custom cover) on high for three days and it caused the custom wood cover to separate where it had been glued ($100 replacement). I realized that leaving the warmer on was my wife’s fault. However, your R&D department should have realized that a custom cover would hide the control knob, thus out of sight, out of mind. My last warming drawer had a timer which shut off the unit after a period of time. I ended up getting thermal heat foil and placing it between the warming drawer and the custom cover. I assure you that it will not be the last time my wife or other Viking customers leave the warming drawer on. Again, with the amount of money the Viking warming drawer cost versus other brands, your customers should not have to worry about these things. I would not have purchased the drawer if it wasn’t for the discount we received by buying all Viking. I had a feeling this purchase would come back and bite me and it did to the tune of $100 and a lot of legwork to get the cover fixed and prevent future issues.Viking Microwave DMOS200 (Serial # 05772W205079) - Over heated and caused the glass plate to break and the tri-wheels to melt. I replaced the glass plate and the Tri wheels for around $30 but the turn motor was destroyed. Viking replaced the motor at no cost to me. The problem was due to a sensor not responding to the issue. I was told by the technician that there were several sensors. We were lucky we caught it before a fire broke out. Is this a quality control issue or a fluke? I have no issues with my Viking Dishwasher DFVD042 to date because we hardly use it. It’s in the basement bar and we use it two to six times a year.As for the Viking customer service, after spending a lot of time on the phone with your customer service about the enclosed part, I was told that Viking would send me a new rack at no cost. Three weeks went by and I called customer service again. I was told that an Email was sent to Lakeview. I called Lakeview and they had no record of the email. I called back customer service and they informed me that they would resend the request. The next day, I called Lakeview and they still had no record of the request. I called your customer service again and had them copy me on the third request (which I never received). The whole point is that I had to do all the follow up, do your employees job and waste my time (not to mention Lakeview’s). Your customer service team should have put me on hold or a conference call and resolved this issue on the spot.I called customer service about the heater element on my dishwasher and they gave me the cookie cutter response that it was out of warranty. I explained the crimped wire and all the other issues I had with Viking products and that I was very upset because I would have to pay a Viking technician to come out to dispute the observation of a reliable technician that I used and had already paid for. I was told that Lakeview would call me to set up an appointment. After not hearing from Lakeview for 30 plus hours, I called your customer service again to find out when I could expect a call (I needed it fixed with Christmas coming up and knowing I was going to have lots of guests). I was informed to call Lakeview directly. Again, an already unhappy customer was asked to do your employees job and waste more of my time. After leaving a message with Lakeview to call me, I received a call 60 hours after I had my initial call to your customer service department. After talking with your customer service department, I get the feeling they are there to do a 9-5 job and after they hit send, they are relieved from all obligations related to that call. There is no sense of urgency to take care of an irate customer. Maybe this is the norm within Vikings customer service department because the internet blogs and the issues I have with my purchases tell me you have a lot of irate customers. Lake view does a good job.As you can see, I have had to deal with several issues concerning your products. To say the least, I am a very unhappy customer and will be very reluctant to buy another Viking Product. I am also informing everyone I know about the Viking quality and customer service issues. I wrote this letter in hopes that you are not aware of the quality issues your brand is having as well as the lack of vision by your R&D department. I just don’t understand why your company would risk the loss of customers over the cheap parts you are designing and putting on your expensive products. Being an owner of a company myself, I just don’t get it. Below is Viking response, a couple of generic I- am-sorry letters:Both dishwashers have been fixed since these letters at a cost of approx $200 each (motherboard went out on one-labor only, rubber gasket came off the other parts/labor). There should be no reason a rubber gasket comes off on a $1700 dishwasher. Also, the icemakers water line froze and was replaced with a better one. How long have icemakers been sold to the consumer?

Im writing this letter in hopes that you can help me with a continuous issue I have had with your 36 Viking Stove. My wife and I purchased a new home in 2008, at which point we decided to renovate our kitchen. When we purchased our appliances, there was no doubt in our minds we wanted a Viking Professional range and oven. We were excited and happy with our appliance for a short time until we began to use it. Over the course of 3 years, we have had nothing but constant troubles with the oven. First the igniter went twice, then the thermostat, then a defect with the range top. We have had several Viking repair visits, each costing $300 or higher. When we made the decision to buy Viking, it was with the thought in mind that paying a little more meant getting better quality, craftsmanship and dependability. Unfortunately, this has been far from the reality we have experienced. Most recently we replaced the thermostat for the baking function and the oven doesnt heat up.Needless to say, three weeks before Thanksgiving, we find ourselves with yet another service call and Im sure more costly repairs. I have done extensive research on the Internet and various consumer affairs sites and found that there has been a groundswell of complaints with your ovens. Frequent mention of inconsistent bake temperature, issues with your igniter system and thermostats lead me to believe there is a known set of defects with your product and this particular model. To that end I am asking that you stand by your product and replace the oven. An investment of $6000 should not require a constant stream of maintenance for a product that should bring with it quality and dependability. Rather than spend time posting disparaging complaints on various consumer products sites. I am asking that you address the issue I have had with your oven so I can get the quality and craftsmanship I expect.I am reaching out for your help after multiple calls to your call center and ask for someone to contact me immediately. I will pursue this issue further and if necessary rally the countless people I have seen voice concern with the range product you offer and have sold. The information for my range is Model: VGSC3676BSS, Serial #: 081108C00053266

Ive had the range for over a year and the only issue I’m having is servicing for things. It’s been making some noises and banging, and some of the dials aren’t adjusted. I called a couple of times and sent in a couple of requests, but I couldnt get anybody in my area. Im in Edgewater, and apparently, theres nobody that services any part. So thats going to be worrisome.

I put in a claim and they gave me a claim number and a company was supposed to call and set up that they were coming but they never called me. But when I spoke to someone else, they told me to try to clean it out real good and maybe something boiled over. Once I did that, it actually stopped making the noise. So I dont have any complaints. I like my Viking Range and it cooks evenly. I have the convection oven and its good. It boils fast. Its more like commercial style than what my old oven was.

OMG do not purchase under any circumstance unless you want to overpay for a dish drying rack. Ive had it 2 years and it has gone down more than 8 times and it take an eternity to get repaired. They use breakable plastic in all stress points, the plastic latch keeps breaking, over and over and over again again again. Each time it breaks its a month of downtime and I hate doing dishes by hand. Been without a working dishwasher for over 4 months in last 2 years. Nightmare. It is a good drying rack after you have hand washed everything. Always breaks during major holidays. Plastic plastic plastic makes this a super unreliable low quality product. Do not buy.

Weve owned Viking products for years in different houses. Over the years, their products have improved. Weve just spent about $40,000 in Viking products, in building a new home. The refrigerator we got from them appears to be fine. They built a nice product. I dont have high expectations with a refrigerator. It either keeps stuff cold or frozen. We have a separate Viking ice maker thats not part of the freezer or refrigerator, and its a nicely constructed piece of equipment. My only issue was with their dishwasher that immediately leaked. Moreover, I was in a new home without a dishwasher for two months because they couldnt deliver parts. We just got the dishwasher back a couple of days ago. The Viking dealer was good, except with their service with the dishwasher. We live in a small town in Arizona and they are the only game in town. But theres no excuse for our spending thousands of dollars on a piece of equipment that comes defective from the factory and then it takes two months to get a replacement part. Its just not acceptable We havent had any issues so far with any of the other equipment, which is good. Our Viking products sometimes had service-related issues, so theyre not as durable as some of their competitors stuff, but they certainly are attractive in their features. Ive had both good and bad experiences with Viking products, so I’m holding my breath that we don’t have any other issues. Viking has been challenged publicly on the quality of their product. So, Im hoping that they have improved their manufacturing process and their items are more durable than they were in the past.

We had a Viking range in our previous home and then we moved and we updated our kitchen. We wanted the same appliances that we had in the other home because we liked them. We got the range, the hood, and a dishwasher. The leads broke but they sent somebody out for free within a couple of days to fix it. It was all covered. I was very happy with it and everything has been perfect since the tech came out.
