I had my Trane XL90 furnace installed by a Trane authorized HVAC dealer many years ago. I bought it specifically because they had (still say they do) a lifetime guarantee on the heat exchanger. Something that I knew at the time was a weak point for many brands. Years later my furnace started to fail and I'm certain now that I was experiencing high levels of CO in my house. (damp windows) I attempted to patch/seal the holes at the end of the bottom of the heat exchangers. It is a cooler area of the heat exchanger and I imagine condensation was an issues that ultimately created holes and furnace ignition issues from the improper drafting of exhaust gases into my house. For almost two years, I tried to keep it working. I complained to the dealer more than once and they said to contact Trane. I did!On SIX occasions, they basically denied having to do anything for me. They instructed me to contact the dealer and they could likely get me a $250 rebate off a new one. But these crooks know that this rebate is the same as what they were offering everyone. The heat exchanger came with a lifetime warranty, but labor was not included. They kept giving me the excuse that this heat exchanger was no longer available. True, but I bought a lifetime warranty, not a whenever the parts run out warranty. Typically a heat exchanger is an $800 to $900 part; however, they refused to compensate me or offer that amount as a rebate/credit off the new XL90 or a similar models. I ended up with a very nice and efficient Goodman. In talking to several other people about Goodman, they always seem to honor their warranties. TRANE WILL NOT! They are LIARS ! Nothing RUNS away from their warranty like a Trane!

My rental property at ** Springfield, VA. Air Conditioner system was replaced by BK Tech contractor Sean ** at 43020 La Riva Dr Ashburn, VA 20148 on Aug 13, 2009 with a Goodman AC system. Last summer a refrigerant leak in the condenser was repaired under 1st yr warranty. This year again the condenser leaked and required replacing the condenser coil.

The Bottom Line. Continental offers a good warranty for parts and the compressor if you register soon after purchase. The air conditioning units are solidly built and are meant to be reliable since the brand truly cares about their customers.

Very disappointed with Rheem ( 2-ton 15 Seer HVAC). After a 1 1/2, Unit leaked freon and wasn't covered by a warranty. Could not contact a customer service representative to help. This is me first Rheem, and it will be my last.

We have a top of the line Carrier Infinity heat pump put in place in 2014. It was installed by an authorized installer who has been installing Carrier systems for 45 years. The unit is supposed to be state of the art and cost over $10K. But in 2015, one year after it was put in place, the system broke down in the summer and a motor had to be replaced. Now in 2016, second year after the installation, the system broke down again and another motor has to be replaced. And it takes more than 10 days to order the motor in today's world when everything you order from Amazon can arrive in 2 days. When I called Carrier to file a complaint, the lady I spoke with was supposed to be a senior level rep, and she was even more disappointing. Please note, I wasn't even asking them for anything. My repairs are covered by a service policy I already had. I just wanted to let them know my frustration as a consumer, and I think given the good reputation I have heard about Carrier, you would think how their customers are feeling about their quality and service. Well, this lady blamed everything on distributors and installers, and said Carrier provides 10 year parts warranty and that's all they can do. She basically said "Why are you wasting my time by calling me." without using those words.Well, for a state of the art system such as Carrier Infinity, you probably wouldn't expect to shut down for 2 weeks every year in the hottest days of the summer. And you would probably expect Carrier to care more about the quality and service experienced by their highest paying customers. I need to replace another old HVAC system soon and I never thought I would get anything other than Carrier. Now I will look into what other competing products are out there.

Mine is about 10 years old and it’s fine. I haven’t had a problem except last season it needed Freon. Mine was installed by Greg Hookenshoven Heating and Air Conditioning. Great service. He comes quickly when called for service. Can’t say enough.

Seems like I have a common problem with several consumers that have purchased a Goodman HVAC system. I built my house in 2009 and the builder installed 2 units, upper and lower. Every year I experienced issues with both units. We had to replace the coils and fan in the lower unit, we have to add Freon every year, $500+ because the units stop cooling. I've spent well over $3000 for parts and labor. Now, looks like the upper unit continues to fail and the Goodman customer service department acts like the company has no concern for a resolution. My warranty expired after 5 years, because I too never received registration papers for an extended warranty.

Great ac... only 2 issues, the dual hoses are pretty big in diameter, and the blower itself doesn't have much control of where you want the air to flow... other than that, this really cools the place down! Pics showing custom window insert I had made for hoses..

I have a 2005 Carrier Puron system and started having problems in 2011 which was 1 year after the warranty expired on the coils. I had to replace the coil for $1,100 which had a leak. I was told, like many others in this forum, that this is a known defect with Carrier products. I called Carrier and again, as many others have relayed, they did not care. They have a 5 year warranty. I now have the plated 10 year coil. I agree with all the other posts that Carrier is a rip-off and they have no concern for consumers and do not stand behind their products. I would never buy or recommend a Carrier to anyone. My a/c repairman told me Amana has a lifetime warranty and there are better brands that have better warranties.
