Coleman Appliance Repair

For over a century, the Coleman name has been a trusted icon in America. Known for rugged dependability and tremendous value, their products stand the test of time. This heritage of quality and durability is crafted into every Coleman HVAC system that is built according to strict tolerances and rigorous testing. Coleman HVAC is proud to continue our enduring legacy by providing long lasting comfort you can count on.

Air Conditioner Repair

Coleman manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of Coleman appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.

Coleman Air conditioner not cooling
If the air filter is clogged, air cannot flow properly through the air conditioner. This greatly reduces the cooling capacity of the air conditioner. In addition, if the air filter is clogged, the evaporator coils will frost over. To remove debris from the air filter, try cleaning the filter. If it is not possible to clean the air filter, replace it.

Coleman Air conditioner fan not working
The dual shaft fan motor (or circulation fan motor) might be defective. The circulation fan motor has two fan blades: one on either side of the motor. On one side, the fan blade draws in outside air over the condensing coil to dissipate the heat. On the other side, the fan blade directs the air over the evaporator coil. The dual shaft fan motor has bearings that can loosen or bind over time. To determine if the motor bearings are defective, wiggle the motor shaft. If the motor shaft is loose, or if it won’t turn at all, replace the fan motor.

Coleman Air conditioner compressor won't run
The temperature control board provides voltage to the fan motor and compressor. If the control board is defective, it may stop providing voltage to the compressor. Control boards are often misdiagnosed. Before replacing the temperature control board, make sure you check more commonly defective parts—particularly the compressor overload, capacitor and the compressor itself. If you are certain that all of the other components are working properly, replace the temperature control board.

Coleman Air conditioner won't turn off
The condenser coils dissipate the heat as the refrigerant passes through the coils. If the condenser coils are dirty, they won’t be able to dissipate the heat as effectively. As debris builds up on the coils, the air conditioner will become less efficient, causing the air conditioner to work harder to cool down. If the coils are significantly dirty, the air conditioner will not be able to maintain the proper temperature, and the compressor will run continuously in an attempt to cool the room. Check the condenser coils to determine if they are dirty. If the condenser coils are dirty, clean them.

Coleman Air conditioner is loud or noisy
When the compressor is wearing out, it generates more noise than usual. When this happens, it is not necessary to replace the compressor—compressors often last for years after they become noisy. However, if you would prefer to have a new compressor, have a licensed professional replace it.

Coleman Air conditioner remote control not working
First, try replacing the batteries in the remote control. If installing fresh batteries doesn’t solve the problem and you can still operate the air conditioner manually, the remote control might be defective. If you think the remote control is defective, replace it.

Furnace Repair

Coleman manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of Coleman appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.

Coleman Furnace not heating
The igniter gets very hot and glows bright orange to light the gas burner. If the igniter fails or cracks, the furnace won’t heat. To determine if the igniter is faulty, remove the igniter and inspect it for cracks. If the igniter is cracked, replace it. If the igniter is not cracked, use a multimeter to test the igniter for continuity. If the igniter does not have continuity, replace it.

Coleman Furnace is noisy or loud
The blower wheel blows air out of the furnace and through the house. The blower wheel is attached to the blower motor shaft with a set screw. If the set screw is loose, the blower wheel will wobble on the motor shaft, and the wheel will be noisy as it turns. Check the set screw to ensure that it is properly tightened. Next, inspect the wheel for damage. If the blower wheel is damaged, replace it.

Coleman Furnace starts then stops
The flame sensor monitors the burner to detect whether or not a flame is present. If the flame sensor is defective, it might fail to detect a flame. If the flame sensor does not detect a flame, the control board will shut off voltage to the gas valve to prevent the furnace from heating. Sometimes, if the flame sensor is dirty, it will fail to detect a flame. Try cleaning the flame sensor with a fine abrasive pad. If the furnace still doesn’t heat, replace the flame sensor.

Coleman Furnace blower not running
The blower motor blows air through the return vent, past the heat exchanger, and into the home’s venting. First, make sure that power is getting to the motor. If power is getting to the blower motor, but the motor does not run, the motor may be burned out. If the blower motor is burned out, replace it. If the blower motor hums, check the blower fan to ensure that it spins freely. If the blower fan is unobstructed but does not spin freely, replace the blower motor.

Coleman Furnace blower runs all the time
The control board has relays that regulate the voltage to each component in the furnace. If the relay that controls the blower motor fails while it is closed, it will send continuous voltage to the blower motor, causing the motor to run continuously. If the control board is at fault, replace it.

Heat Pump Repair

If your heat pump is broken and not functioning properly, here are some steps you can take:

Check the basics: Ensure that the power supply to the heat pump is intact. Check the circuit breaker and fuse box to make sure they haven't tripped or blown. If they have, reset the breaker or replace the fuse and see if that resolves the issue.

Check the thermostat: Make sure the thermostat is set to the appropriate mode (heat or cool) and the desired temperature. Verify that the fan setting is correct (auto or on). If the thermostat has a battery, ensure it is not dead and replace it if needed.

Examine the air filter: A dirty or clogged air filter can restrict airflow and impact the heat pump's performance. Check the air filter and clean or replace it if necessary.

Inspect the outdoor unit: Check the outdoor unit for any obvious signs of damage or obstruction. Clear away any debris, such as leaves, dirt, or vegetation, that might be blocking airflow to the unit.

Call a professional: If the above steps don't resolve the issue or if you're not comfortable performing further troubleshooting, it's best to contact a qualified HVAC technician. They have the expertise to diagnose and repair heat pump problems effectively.

When you contact a professional technician, be prepared to provide them with detailed information about the issue you're experiencing. Describe any unusual noises, error codes, or specific symptoms you've observed. This information can help them diagnose the problem more accurately.

Remember, attempting to repair a broken heat pump without proper knowledge and experience can be dangerous and may cause further damage. It's generally best to rely on trained professionals to handle complex HVAC repairs.

I agree that the installation is the main point when it comes to gas furnaces. I am nothing but satisfied by this brand of Coleman. My previous gas furnace kept on leaking and made my house messy, and I had had to clean often. I always called the technician to do repairs who later on recommended to me the Coleman unit. It’s highly efficient without too much cost of the gas bill. It was also affordable, and the installation was easy.

Being HVAC technician, I have installed this unit on some my clients, and all I can stress is that it is a good unit as long as the installation process is performed by someone who perfectly knows when he is doing and not just anyone. The mistake that many users do is to install a unit without the help of an expert, this leads to poor installation, and the unit starts having problems too early, and some do not even end. Proper installation of any unit is essential if you want your furnace to last long enough. The only bad thing I had with this unit is the unit being a little noisy; the manufacturer should do something about the noise. The price is friendly, and I would recommend this to my clients at any given time.

Coleman Heat Pump was installed in our new build in 2016. First the pan busted in 2016. 2020 evaporation coils had to be replaced $1400.00, then in 2022 the compressor needed replacing $2200.00, and finally the expansion values need replacing. Quote to fix $1400.00. We refused to put another dime in this piece of junk, so we replaced with a Trane. Coleman parts take time to arrive and their units are nothing but problems and money. Your warning, stay away from any Coleman.

Our furnace and air conditioner are both Coleman, and they have lasted for ten years. The AC always needs replacement although this is not part of the furnace and we cannot complain about this. The high energy conversion rate as a result of the AFUE high levels makes it the best for me. I have not had any replacements or repairs so far, and I hope I will not have any problems with my furnace. The price is manageable, and I would recommend this to anyone who needs a gas furnace that is not too pricey and works efficiently.

Have a Coleman heat pump. It went out within 30 days of the end of the warranty. Service people say that the pipe into the compressor is too thin and they were unable to plug the corroded hole. Need a new compressor even though it works because of a pipe. Getting estimates. Definitely not on a Coleman product.
