Dishwasher Control Board?
Dishwasher will eventually start, and when it runs it's great.
But it takes a lot of pushing the start button and the cancel button over and over to get it to start.
I replaced the control board 3 to 4 years ago.
Does this sound like a control board issue and could it be failing again so soon?
Question from user 54fighting at Appliances at reddit.
Answer:
The issue you're experiencing with your dishwasher could indeed be related to the control board. However, it's difficult to provide a definitive answer without further information or a professional inspection. Here are a few possibilities to consider:
-
Control Board Issue: The control board is responsible for initiating and controlling the various functions of the dishwasher. If you replaced it 3 to 4 years ago and are now facing similar problems, it's possible that the control board is failing again. This could be due to a manufacturing defect, power surges, or other electrical issues.
-
Loose Connections: It's also worth checking the connections between the control board and other components of the dishwasher. Loose or corroded connections can cause intermittent issues, such as difficulty in starting the dishwasher.
-
User Interface Problems: The user interface, including the start and cancel buttons, may have worn out or developed a fault. This could result in the need to press the buttons repeatedly before the dishwasher starts.
-
Other Malfunctioning Components: While the control board is a common culprit, there could be other components within the dishwasher that are causing the issue. Faulty sensors, door switches, or wiring problems could all potentially affect the start function.
To address this issue, you have a few options:
-
Contact Customer Support: If your dishwasher is still under warranty, reaching out to the manufacturer's customer support can help determine the cause of the problem and provide guidance on potential solutions.
-
Consult a Professional: Consider consulting a professional appliance technician who can diagnose the issue accurately and recommend appropriate repairs or replacements.
-
DIY Troubleshooting: If you have experience working with appliances, you could try checking the connections and inspecting the user interface yourself. However, be cautious when working with electrical components, and disconnect the power supply before attempting any repairs.
Ultimately, the best course of action would depend on your comfort level with appliance repair and the cost implications of potential solutions.
