Brand new system has had problems from the start. Multiple repairs have been attempted to remedy an unacceptable noise. Still sounds like a washing machine on spin cycle, which everyone agrees is unacceptable, but nobody can diagnose or fix. Further, the unit leaks a rusty fluid into the pan, and there is condensation/corrosion in the supply plenum which the installer said should never leak.

I was sold this Goodman Air Conditioner by Four Seasons heating & Air in Port Charlotte, FL. I have only had two years of use and after it wasnt blowing cold air I called 4 Seasons and in five minutes of inspection was told the compressor had blown out. They told me that despite the poor service of this unit, only parts were covered and they would charge $800 for the labor to reinstall these defective parts. I am 80 years old, live in Florida and will have had no air conditioning in 90% heat for at least three days. This product was defective. I have been a homeowner for 50 years and have never had less than five years wear from any air conditioner. Goodman needs to be investigated.

On 06 March 2009 Reliable Home Comfort, installed me Goodman A/C in the leaky condenser. On 04.08.2010 RHC has reinstalled me a new unit A/C # as above in which again a leaky condenser. Then RHC refused further repairs and went out of business. Throughout this period until today the Goodman A/C was not working. On 09/06/2015 Ryno contact with you and it turned out that replacement warranty will be more expensive than the new A/C. RAYNO me a new Guardian A/C has installed for what I paid. Im on a faulty Goodman A/C lost only the money. I have a garage broken air conditioner and your guarantee for him. I am the unhappy and feel cheated, and the neighbors ask what a horrible business this Goodman. Please return the confirmation e-mail. Goodman does not respond to complaints. Maybe Goodman my complaint from you adopt.

Goodman 2 Ton 13 Seer A/C unit and compressor: Bought a unit in 2009 - every year had to have them come and do something because it either did not heat or did not cool. Bought it for $2,355. In 2012 I ended up with bills over $2,400 in repairs. Whatever went wrong was NEVER a warrantied part. Watched them fix the air handler and saw the most flimsy wires ever which I was told would burn out every so often. Last couple of years, the compressor seemed to be rather noisy. Filed a complaint and now I am getting nowhere because the installer and manufacturer keep blaming the other person. IF neither accepts responsibility, then I hope to go the the media to have this resolved. Heard there is a lawsuit against Goodman Mfg. Id like to have a decent unit put in. Tired of the expense. Have a 10-year warranty and it didnt last 4 years before I had bills that added up to a new unit plus more... Go to another manufacturer.

I have purchased a Goodman heat pump there 3 years ago and it stopped working. The compressor went and have been trying to get it fixed. Have contacted the company many times and they will not replace the part. I know of someone else who has the same problem as I do. Will never deal with them again. There is a 10-year warranty on it and they will not fix it, its been two years waiting.

Please dont think that because I only gave 4 stars for this company that they arent worth looking into. Purchasing this unit was in my opinion a really great buy. The price was 30-60% less than the Brand Names - My unit cost ~$3,200 (a 5 Ton heat pump package unit with additional electric heat & new programmable thermostat) plus an additional $500 for final install - to get warranty activated. Its been working around 11 months and weve had No problems whatsoever. I would recommend this Brand!

I have a Goodman heat pump that was installed in Dec 2009. It started leaking freon last year. Just 2 pounds. This year it started freezing up. Guess what? Needs more freon and r22 is high. Just found out r22 production will cease in 2016. This unit is leaking like crazy. Called Goodman. They say my unit is out of warranty because it wasnt registered in first 60 days. What? Is this a gimmick? Thought it came with a 10-year warranty. Seems like a easy way for them to get out of warranty for their products.Ive had cheap Walmart window units last longer than this piece of junk and way cheaper. I found a new a-coil for sale on internet for 500 bucks but found out it might leak when installed new. The a/c company said they would install one for 1500$. Are you kidding. This unit is out of warranty 6 months. Would have been better off paying extra for something better. Overall this will cost me much more in the long run. Goodman customer service is terrible as the guy there just kept saying to call one of their dealers. In my opinion Goodman needs to go out of business or do whats right and fix these faulty units.

Seems like I have a common problem with several consumers that have purchased a Goodman HVAC system. I built my house in 2009 and the builder installed 2 units, upper and lower. Every year I experienced issues with both units. We had to replace the coils and fan in the lower unit, we have to add Freon every year, $500+ because the units stop cooling. Ive spent well over $3000 for parts and labor. Now, looks like the upper unit continues to fail and the Goodman customer service department acts like the company has no concern for a resolution. My warranty expired after 5 years, because I too never received registration papers for an extended warranty.

We purchased a new Goodman heat pump and new furnace. We have had nothing but TROUBLE from the heat pump. Faulty parts and leaking freon. It is costly to have to keep fixing a NEW heat pump. I wish I still had my old one but we were told we had to let them have our old system??? For what it cost to repair this NEW heat pump you could just purchase a NEW heat pump. This is crazy. Other heat pumps last for 20 years or more with no problems? I give up on Goodman heat pumps.

I purchased a 16 seer Variable speed 2 stage 3 ton heat pump with a AVPTC air handler. The unit was purchased and installed on 1/13/2012. Almost immediately the problems started. Goodman replaced the variable speed motor in the air handler along with the circuit board. I then started having problems with the heat pump in the winter months kicking out on the high head pressure limit. After many calls to Goodman, they sent a factory Rep from Iowa along with a rep. from Lute Supply where the unit was purchased. The rep found a short in the high pressure limit, a Hard start was added to the heat pump and the unit worked fine for about 6 months. At this point I have $750.00 invested in service calls. The unit failed again in August 2016. Service was called again and the run capacitor was replaced. Service call $313.00. The unit ran fine until 10/25/17 when the heat pump stopped. Service was again called and I was told the unit is leaking and coil needs replaced. I have 13 service calls on this unit at a cost of $1800.00. The unit is coming out, I would never recommend Goodman products.

Due to an internal wiring defect within the outside heat pump unit I got hit with a repair bill of just under $400. This was a manufacturer defect. Representatives of Goodman Manufacturing informed me that wiring defects are not covered under their warranty. The unit is within the initial warranty period which began on date of installation. Let this be a warning to anyone contemplating a Goodman Manufacturing product. They do not properly stand by their work. Beware.

The first year alone the condenser went out, costing us out of pocket for labor due to only the part being covered... not to mention having to add Freon twice a year due to leaks that cant be found!!! Our fan motor, compressor x2, and regular motor have all been replaced costing more than the unit itself!!! I am now waiting on the repair guy AGAIN due to my home going from a comfortable 72 degrees to satans kitchen (95). Someone has to be held accountable for the poor workmanship on these units... Purchased a Goodman heat pump and air handler 09/09/08. I called Goodman and verbally gave them the serial numbers of both units and I also sent in the warranty card as well. 2013 unit started leaking freon so I had it topped off and the unit ran fine. 2015 leaks got worse so I called Goodman and they stated I sent in the warranty card 05/15/09? Data input error perhaps or did this happen when they cut over to a new system? Found out they did put in a new system but dont know when.Spoke to a male CSR rude and abrasive refused to let me talk to a supervisor but finally caved in. Spoke to Hema and she stated they had the serial # for the heat pump but no air handler so no warranty on the handler. Told her I called and mailed in the warranty card then was told they do the data input and then the cards are thrown away. My word against theirs? I thought the customers was always right? So much for that theory! I have called several times after that, no return calls. Theres a surprise! Although Hema was helpful but still no warranty.I like the unit and have very little problems with it until the leak, and now the warranty. What is the point of having a warranty and then not to honor it? So now they think I will get stuck with the bill... wrong! Got things to do and people to speak to about the warranty issue. This is just bad P/R on their behalf and I am sorry they are taking that stand. Will I buy another Goodman unit? Maybe not because of this warranty issue.

I purchased a Goodman ductless mini split heat pump. It was installed by a professional installer. The compressor stopped working after about 5 years and 2 months. Assuming the unit had a 10 year warranty, I contacted the company. Upon doing so, the customer seemed to enjoy telling me that the unit only had a 5 year warranty. I then attempted to contact a company to repair the unit, and found it difficult to find a company that worked on the Goodman brand. I was advised that Goodman was not a good unit and it would be less expensive to replace it with a Mitsubishi unit, which I intend to do. I will never do business with Goodman again.

Bought 2d Goodman system after a.c. failed, have a regular a.c. also goodman. The heat pump has not functioned properly since install. Very erratic operation. It is a waste of electricity even though was sold as an energy saver. Runs for 20 to 30 min and never gets above 75 output. This is with 70 room temp and 70 set on thermostat. Has had circuit board replaced and installer came in and rebuilt duct system. I am so frustrated especially after paying a premium price. Thinking about having it removed even if only 7 months old if I could find someone to give me half what I paid for it. It sucks.

I have read so many bad reviews and all I can say is I have been installing Goodman units since 2008 and have yet to have one fail. I would put a Goodman up against any brand. Dollar for dollar and dependability you cant beat it. I have had 2 units where ants made a home in the contactor, but thats the only times I have had to replace any, and I mean any part on a Goodman unit. Goodman also has a solid alum. Evap. Coil, nothing to rust out like other brands have a MILD steel end plates that after 10-15 years of service with it being wet from condensation will rust and cause the copper loops to have pinhole leaks that is impossible to fix. Goodman, Amana, Daikin are all the same company and is the largest HVAC company in the entire world. They didnt get that way from building bad and undependable equipment. They build good quality equipment, maybe its the installer, and not the equipment, because as I have said in the last 9 years of steadily installing Goodman, not one has failed.

Since we had our 2 Goodman air conditioners installed we have had nothing but troubles. 4 times now the coil in one or both have had to be replaced at approx. $583.00 each. Then a small part on the compressor failed to the tune of $1200.00. Now the compressor itself failed and we are waiting on a quote to get it replaced. Keep in mind this is all labor only as the units are still under warranty for parts. The math is simple, more than $3000.00 and counting to constantly repair these units. They are garbage. The Goodman AC company should STOP producing ACs immediately. They are faulty. I will be contacting a lawyer.

When we bought our house, we thought getting a new AC would be a good idea. The old one hadnt been properly maintained and summer was approaching. We had a new outside unit installed, plus new furnace (gas), and air handler. Everything worked great for the first two summers. The 16 SEER unit did a good job keeping up with the blazing Georgia heat, and our electrical bill wasnt too bad. 20 months after it was installed, the motor failed on the outside unit. The compressor was running, but the fan wouldnt turn.I just had the guy out from the company that installed it, and he verified its the motor. So, I now have to wait for a new motor to ship and then be replaced. In all, this is going to cost me $350 in shipping and labor (yes, Im paying shipping, too). It was good while it lasted, but, talk about buyers remorse. This will definitely be my last Goodman product. That includes anything from Daikin (Amana, for example). You lost my business.

Replaced my outside AC unit in 2014. Original unit lasted 15 years. Inside unit still going at 20 years with regular cleaning. Regular AC guy, John **, recommended a Goodman outside unit. In 2016 compressor leaks and John replaces it under warranty charging me labor at $75 per hour for 14 hours to pick up and install (ripoff). In 2017, the warranted replacement compressor is leaking. Replaced under warranty and same install cost. I had to use John as he had purchased the unit and could only do the warranty. Never again will I fall into this trap. The outside unit has now cost me $4500. I could have replaced the whole system with a reliable system for that expense, which I have to do now in 2018.So after just shy of 4 years a 4 ton a/c and heating outside unit needed service and Freon added two times (2016 and 2017). The tech I called out today showed me oil leaking from the condenser too. The freon was gone. At least with a whole new unit I will switch from R22 to R14 freon. So no more C & J Repairs and Services Inc to service my AC and never again a Goodman AC unit.

On 6/7/19, my 11 year old Goodman Furnace had a near catastrophic overheating which melted the main control board and ruined the entire interior of the furnace with a putrid smelling black carbon dust. After sending photographs and a detailed report from the professional installer, who has only seen such a near fire twice in his 30 year career, I was told by Senior Management, “There is nothing we can do since you are 12 months out of warranty”!After discovering that Goodman had underreported major fire issues with other products in the past and was fined by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, I have decided that I want nothing to do with this company and their utter dismissal of my complaint and request for some assistance with a completely unreasonable $4,000 expense. This highly dangerous and unusual failure of a product without any company empathy or concern, after a vigorous outreach on my part, warrants this review and a refusal for anyone who is considering putting their lives in this company’s hands, to enrich this multi-billion dollar company any further.

I purchased both a Goodman Central AC Unit and a Goodman Furnace in 2013. I had become disabled around that time and this was my last big purchase. I had hoped that in buying 2 new units that I wouldnt have problems with them and that theyd be reliable for years to come. That was not the case. When I went to start up the AC at the beginning of the 2nd year, it wasnt working. The repairman had to replace the coil. Now, going into the 5th year, my furnace is not working. The repairman came out and said it needed a part that had to be ordered. He said the error code on the panel read: Low fire pressure switch open. Since it was Friday afternoon when the repairman came out, the part wouldnt be delivered until late Monday (or early Tuesday) and so therefore Tuesday would be the earliest it could be repaired. This left me without heat for almost 6 days in 30-degree weather with snow on the ground. Its freezing in this house. I have severe arthritis and nerve damage which is worse in the cold. Ive had to increase my pain medication and Im stuck sitting under a heated blanket.I made this purchase because I didnt want to have to worry about my old system breaking down while I was out of work with limited funds and as it turned out, my 20-year-old system was more reliable. Im really disgusted with this company. Both their AC units and furnaces are junk. Ive spent now $2500 to identify the problem. Daikin will not cover parts citing 1 year warranty on all but compressor for a unit that didnt even have normal residential wear and tear. My husband is the one who got it. He heard me complaining and thought he’d do something about it. The Carrier we had before had nothing left in it, it kept breaking down and costing us money. We bought this new unit from Goodman and I think my husband made the right choice. It cools the house really well, and I’m glad we have.

I bought a new house and since day nor the heater smelled like aluminum odor, hot metal odor or hot burning metallic odor. Now when the ac is on we smell the same hot lighter odor and warm air come out of registers instead of clean cool air. Goodman after several months of complaint fireplace furnace. Nothing changed. Odor still here. Installer telling us load calc is correct and right size of furnace installed. Is the odor caused by heat exchanger getting hot due to size or the system is defective?

I had a gas leak the first season (2011). I went without heat for one month as the Gas Company kept turning off my Goodman unit. Dayton Services tech came out 4 times but could find nothing. A neighbor found the leak and they came out and fixed it as I had taken a picture of the leak. Next season the Amana a/c went out and Freon put in. Skipped a season and next year the a/c went out again and capacitor and freon added. Skipped a season and same thing again--Freon and capacitor. I am 83 and didnt want to go through the heat and bought a window unit in anticipation of next breakdown in summer 2018. I called and wrote Goodman (in Houston) along with pages of documentation. No response. Mainly sarcasm. No response from Dayton. Paid $5,000 for the unit. Im supposed to have 10-year warranty and service!

I purchased an HVAC system in 2013, which broke before it was even 2 years old! The repairman mentioned that he had to completely refill the refrigerant because it had all leaked out. He said that it leaked out because the units factory weld joint was faulty, causing the refrigerant to leak out. He mentioned that this absolutely should not happen to a system that is this new. He mentioned that I should contact Goodman for reimbursement. I contacted customer service, who asked that I submit a letter with the serial number of the unit and a copy of the repair bill for reimbursement. I received a reply via letter, which was very obviously a canned response, telling me the same thing I was told on the phone, that the warranty does not cover refrigerant, labor, etc. Only parts. The company stated in the letter, It is impossible to predict the life of any one part. That tells me that the design, test, and quality assurance divisions are severely lacking. Goodman obviously does not care about its products or customers. Im still waiting on a return call from customer service.

I purchased this unit from a local contractor and have had 3 problems with it since installation. I had installer fix the first issue which he told me they would not charge me for. Unit was installed horizontally in attic and installers didnt know that when unit is installed this way condensation builds up in tube which wont allow heat to start up.Their employees are totally incompetent since they never glued PVC vent and exhaust piping through roof. Primed but never glued. Stick a piece of pipe in and thats done. Crooked coming out the roof, which I had to have repaired with the unglued pieces of pipe. Im afraid to check and see if they at least glued the pipe that holds condensation as that will eventually leak in time if that was also improperly installed. Now I had to have flame sensor replaced and unit is only 3 years old. Goodbye to Mensers Heating and Cooling and Goodman products.

Was told repair cost would be $$128.00 Serv. call + $800.00 labor +$150.00 Frt!! Repair cost too high, went out to Carter Lumber in Toledo and purchased a NEW furnace for LESS than the repair cost!! The location was at my rental property and all installations are done by me. So sad because I have four more Goodman Furnaces at different locations and if I have another bad experience I will have to buy a different brand.

It has been several weeks now, the noise at start up has been steadily been increasing in sound. Up to now nothing has been resolved, I am am now in the cycle of phone tag. First of all, Im not the type to write a review every time I experience something or go on YELP every time I go to a restaurant. Actually this is my first time ever writing a review. But this experience has really gotten under my skin. My Goodman gas furnace went out last Saturday. I am a mechanic by trade and have worked on many RV gas furnaces so of course I checked it out myself. I took the cover off of the unit and figured out in a few minutes that the problem was that the squirrel cage was in a bind. Therefore not able to spin to push hot air through the duct because the cage was laying against the shroud that the motor and cage sits in. And what had caused this was that one of the brackets supporting the motor had broken a weld. Apparently, it had been running this way for a while because the bearings in the motor were shot. So, even if the bracket was rewelded the problem wouldnt be cured because the bearings are shot making the motor shaft tilt which the cage rides on. Therefore the outcome would be the same. So I called Goodman and of course they were closed on weekends. Which is understandable. Monday I called and after getting forwarded to 3 different people I finally reached someone in the warranty department. I gave them the model and serial number and they said that the unit was under warranty because it is only 2 years old. Well, thats good I thought to myself. But, this is the kicker. I explained the problem, which is very simple I thought. But they wouldnt take my word for it. I was told that I had to call a professional that was a Goodman dealer to check it out so they {THE DEALER} could call it in and order the part. So I had to call a heating & air company and pay them a service call and labor just to tell me the same thing that I already knew. That was all done on Monday. Later that day the heating & air company called and told me that the order was placed and ordered. But I would be responsible for the shipping, which I dont agree with. I asked when I should expect the new parts. They said probably Friday. The parts were coming from Texas, which should be a 4 day delivery time, since Im in NC. Meanwhile the temperature is in the 30s cause its January. You would think that they would rush delivery the parts. Its now the following Saturday and still no parts and Im still without heat. I went and bought an electric heater but it only heats one room. Hindsight I would have been better off buying the parts online for less money but Goodman wouldnt give me the part number for the part I need. Now Ive spend $150.00 for the service call and labor and I expect the shipping to be at least $50.00. Not counting the $120.00 electric heater I had to buy. So much for WARRANTY... I am very unsatisfied with the GOODMAN products and even more with the customer service. Needless to say the next house I build will not have anything GOODMAN in it.

I purchased a heat pump in 11/2011 and then started to have a lot of problems in 2015. It was noisy running also. Then on 5/15 was my 1st service call and they found a hole in the coil which leaked freon. Had to be repaired and added freon. Then 4/2016 it stopped working completely. Another service call and they had to replace the compressor and defrost control unit. At least they were under warranty, but I had to pay for service call and freon. Thats not cheap either. On July 8 warm air came thru vents. Serviceman had to add more freon and changed the schraders. More money. This lasted a week and back to warm air again. Another call another hole in coil and more freon. This lasted a month so now its Aug. 2016 and Im sitting here in my house with temp of 95 and outside temp of 98. I have so much money out for service calls and freon, that Ive decided that I am going to have to buy a new heat pump when this one isnt even 5 yrs. old. But with all the money going for repairs, I could have put in a new one. I trusted the dealer for the quality of Goodman products, but since all these troubles Ive read all the unsatisfactory notations and Im adding to it. In fact the customer service girl at Goodman hung up on me when I told her I would never recommend this company to anyone. Hows that for rude employees!! I would like to get some of my money back if its possible. I wrote to Goodman asking for this, but I doubt if I will because they dont care. They dont even make my model anymore, so it must have been bad to begin with. I hope other people read the reviews about Goodman before they purchase anything and dont buy from them. We purchased a complete Goodman system from our HVAC company just a little over 5 years ago. It has already had a total system failure twice. The first time, the part had to be ordered and took about a week to get. This time, the blower has failed, and has to be replaced. The expected time is 2 weeks with no system. I cant believe at only 5 years, 2 major components fail. We live in a metro area of over 1,000,000 people, I dont know why parts are not readily available? That must be a sign of the volume of sales they have. In our opinion, these are very very low quality. No decent system would have 2 complete system failures at 5 years. And to think that a blower motor would fail at 5 years is a clear sign of the poor quality workmanship.

Evaporator coil went bad after 3.5 years (known issue) with Goodman search the web for complaints. I have a 10 year warranty after fighting with Goodman on registering the unit for a new house. My HVAC guy files for warranty. The approval took a week then it took Goodman another week to inform as to COVID19 we are backed logged and dont know when the part will be in stock.Given the amount of people who have the same issue with Goodman one would expect Goodman to have this part in the warehouses. Sadly no warehouses have the part and what was in stock as to the known issue with summer starting those in stock were taken. I have never seen an HVAC system have this issues after 3.5 years. My parents had an Amana hvac from 1980s which was replaced in 1999 that ran with no issues which came with the house. After my 10 year warranty now 7 years left is done if I have issues I will get a Trane with spending the extra money so I do not have to worry about odd issues occurring.

I had an Amana 2 ton hvac gas pack for 18 years, never had a problem, never cleaned, never serviced. The unit had to be replaced in 2006 and was a problem from day one! The unit would not cool like the old one, the unit was supposed the same as I had before. I spent $3,900.00 in repairs with everything in the unit being replaced, including the compressor. Goodman did not offer any help! They even called one service technician and said I wasnt happy with him, when the fact of the matter was he could not figure out what was wrong! The unit would run continually all day long with the thermostat on 73 and the outside temp was 83 degrees! I have finally found that the original compressor was a 19000 BTUs and the sensible BTUs rating was rated at 18000, which several HVAC techs said that was a 1/2 ton difference and would not work! I just recently replaced with a Coleman and will not buy Goodman ever again!!! The last tech found the blower wheel was wobbly because of insulation, but said even replacing it would not solve the issue!

This heat pump was installed when my new house was built in May 2010. In January 2011 it required piston replacement when it stopped heating the home. Then in June 2012 it required a replacement of the indoor evaporator coil when it stopped producing A/C. Then in June 2014 it required replacement of the outdoor evaporator coil when it stopped producing A/C. So in the first 4 years, it has required 3 major repairs. Sure, Goodman provides a 5-year warranty on all parts. But my most recent repair still cost over $1,000 for the labor and refrigerant. (The refrigerant is NOT included in the warranty, and that alone cost more than $600 this time.) I complained to Goodman, who told me I should have paid for the additional labor warranty as well. I suppose if you insist on buying a Goodman heat pump, then I would recommend the full labor warranty. But any person with half a brain should simply choose a heat pump from a company that is NOT widely recognized as the worst in the business (seriously, check any 3rd party review site). I will never be a Goodman customer again.

I called Goodman about both units and they would not honor either warranty. If you do buy one make sure it is registered and the date it was made not just installed. Let me start out by saying Im a HVAC business owner for 24 years and I will no longer be installing Goodman equipment. The reason is that Ive needed technical help on a few jobs in the last month and the Tech Desk was the worse Ive dealt with out of any manufacturer. They were short, didnt give me many things to try and after I told them what Ive already tried, they were like I dont know. I kept asking them what other things I can try and they just repeated themselves giving me no new things to try. Ive always had great help with other Tech help with other brands and they always helped me figure it out. But Goodman Tech help was worthless the 4 times I dealt with them. They all must really hate their job and take it out on the Service people that call in. Ive been installing Goodman on and off since it was Janitrol. They were helpful and nice years ago. I havent had to call in for Tech help in years and man have they changed. The most arrogant, rudest ** Ive ever talked to. They all need to be fired and hire new Techs and retrain them. Otherwise this company will fall within 5 years the path they are on. I see many other 1 star reviews on here which means this companys Customer Service sucks. Wake up Goodman and if you cant see all these negative reviews, you people in corporate are the dumbest people on earth and you deserve to fail. If I owned a huge company such as Goodman and I see all these negative reviews, I would do undercover calls and find out who all the filth and garbage is within the company and fire them. A new training regimen must be enacted immediately for customer service. New management must be put in place. Out with the old and in with the new.

I had a 95% AFUE GMH95 gas furnace installed in June of 2009. Furnace carries a 10 year parts warranty. In 2015 the inducer pump melted and caught fire. I had the Installation company come out to see this. Was told there was too much damage to replace parts and cables burned. Would need to be replaced. I filed a claim with customer assurance and continually hounded them for the status of this claim. A month later with temperatures now below freezing a representative from distributor and the installer came out to see damage which I already had sent picture to Goodman. Was told I would be notified next Monday. Another week goes by. No word. E-mailed customer assurance rep. for my case and received out of office reply with a phone number to call for assistance. I basically got the run around. A week later I tried again and also left voicemail. I finally called Goodman consumer affairs and spoke with a live person. After explaining the situation and the fact that my representative is not responding for over a month now I was then transferred to the same customer assurance rep. and listened to the same OGM telling me to call consumer affairs. Yes, a complete circle. It seems they just want to avoid this issue. So I called again and got a different live person who said Hold on I need to check something and was immediately disconnected. Now I feel I should let others know about the worst customer service experience that I have ever been through. So much for the 10 year warranty.

The red plastic logo on the outside unit broke off within two months so I simply contacted Goodman to ask for a replacement (it serves their needs well to have free advertising like that) and they flat-out refused after initially telling me it was being sent. What a horrible company. I shudder to think what will happen if/when the unit itself goes out. Already regretting this purchase. Should have gone with another more reputable manufacturer. Our 15 year old TRANE air conditioner was ready to be replaced. I called around and read reviews and we chose NorthCentralFloridaAirConditioning. We paid about $7400.00 which I had to put on my credit card. They installed it in September 2019. To date we have had them come out to TRY and fix it at least ELEVEN times and it’s not a year old. 3-ton package unit, 16 SEER - Shortly after the unit was installed, we noticed water draining on our wooden deck. The unit was not placed on our deck, but it butted up against it. This was in June that it was installed. It is Nov. 9, 2017, and it is still drenching our wooden deck when the air conditioning is on. The company has tried everything they know to do, and they have spent hours and hours and hours here with many calls, 12 different techs. The guy yesterday and another tech said the unit is a poor design. The insulation was removed and was dripping water like a pitcher of water pouring out. We have condensation on top of the unit and rusting in one corner. We have not paid any money for all the hours and things they have tried. Next they are going to lift the unit and put in a drain pan. My husband is concerned that the water is still going to be a problem, and with winter coming, we will not be using the AC until spring to see if it is fixed. Goodman has been no help. I am joining a long list of dissatisfied Goodman a/c unit customers. My wife and I purchased our home in 2012 with Goodman units installed. Almost immediately after moving into my new home one of the units experienced problems cooling one of the floors of my home. It took 5 service repair visits to uncover a defect in the unit which ultimately was repaired. Fast forward 5 years, around the time the warranty ended and we began experiencing problems with one of the other units. We were advised that the coil inside the unit had gone bad and had to be replaced. I contacted Goodman and they advised that even though it had only been a few months since my 5 year warranty expired, they would not replace the coil. Too bad, tough luck. I would implore anyone reading this to not purchase Goodman products or have them installed in newly constructed home.

With proper maintenance, a furnace should last two years or more but Goodman doesnt even have a half life. I put in the first Goodman 10 years ago. The heat exchanger failed in less than two years and the entire furnace was replaced under warranty in March 2007. I had to pay for labor. The heat exchanger has now failed again at the end of winter, rendering the furnace dangerous and unusable. Nobody local has a heat exchanger so it must be shipped from Texas. Im told to pay for shipping and labor. Despite talking to Goodman on the phone, the company didnt tell me it would be backordered nor would it airship to me despite the weather. A consumer affairs supervisor never called me back. My family will be without heat in the Northeast for about three weeks because of Goodmans failure as a quality manufacturer and one whose customer service is disrespectful, unresponsive and extremely poor. Do not ever consider a Goodman and if your HVAC company or supplier recommends Goodman - find a different company because they reflect the companies they carry.

Had a Goodman heat pump installed. It did not lower our bills like we expected and were told. It leaked freon every year, but Goodman would not honor the warranty because the installer had evidently not turned in a registration form. The unit was a lemon and we were told it would cost more to start replacing components than to get a new one.

We had a Goodman 3 Ton Unit replaced on 7/21/2015. It cooled all of about 1/2 day. Since it was installed in July during heatwave (94 for more than a week) we thought it was taking house time to cool and the air out of the vent felt marginally cooler than air temp., But we were delusional. The unit was blowing warm air. The installer came on 4 occasions. 1st time to remove Freon, 2nd time and third time diagnose system, 4th install indoor thermostat. Nothing. The unit blows cold air when the sun is down and as soon as the sun comes up fails and blows hot air. Miserable unit. Had a second HVAC person look at unit. Diagnosis, Condenser. To that I say, REALLY it’s not even installed a month??? My house is 80 +, I should not have to live in the heat with a brand new unit sitting outside my house. Today we are suppose to have our installer back to replace the condenser. If this does have the system up and running 24/7, my instructions are for him to remove the unit and install another brand more reputable such as Carrier, York, Trane. I did in depth research to find Goodmans are nothing but a ton of junk that really needs to be pulled off the market. Waste of everyones time and dollars. Furious.

We have 2 three-yr-old air conditioning systems. On 8/23, one unit stopped working. We called for service hoping to get the system up & running without paying a lot of money & since the unit is still fairly new, we prayed that parts would still be covered under the manufacture. No such luck. We were told that we had to replace an E-Z trap, $177.00, a Safety T, $199.00. We were charged for a tune up $155.00, a diagnostic fee $99.00, an Indoor Coil (still covered under warranty) but with labor & other charges, it cost $809.00, a Coolant R-410A $69.00. The other system made an extremely loud noise while running so we had them to check that system as well and were told it needed a condenser fan motor, $209.00. We moved into our new home on 4/15/10. I cant image why so many problems would be happening to these systems so soon. When I reached out to Goodman to make them aware of what was going on, of course I was asked if we had an extended warranty (wish we had been told about that early on). Their only suggestion was to have the company making repairs to contact distributor for Goodman so that a field tech specialist can come out with company making repairs and make an assessment to see whats going on with the system. I am very upset that we had to spend so much money on these systems so soon and I hope Goodman will stand behind their reputation.

I closed on my home May 2014 and purchased your product Model: GSZ13421AG Serial:1403135510. This product is almost new and only 2 years old. It has been determined that it has a faulty piece. I feel as if I have no recourse and am stuck with this faulty product. The air conditioner is defectively designed and cracked resulting in it leaking refrigerant, thus making my unit entirely inoperable unless I pay 750.00 total. As a result, my electric bill has increased because while the unit was leaking, it required more power for adequate cooking. Because the leakage of the refrigerant from the evaporator coil left my unit completely ineffective, I am forced to pay 750.00 in total repairs to address the problem fully which will take 2 weeks.Worse, today I had to pay 79.00 for a leak search out of my pocket to determine why your product is not functioning as promised by your company. I had to pay 75.00 for the visit and 190.00 for refrigerant. Worse, I have to pay 425.00 in labor next week to have your item repaired, the bill is at 750.00 plus at this point. I am outraged. This is ridiculous. Im told that it is tough and I should pay or my house will be hot.

In 2020, I purchased a 16 SEER Air Conditioning unit and a cased evaporator
In 2020, I purchased a 16 SEER Air Conditioning unit and a cased evaporator coil after the coils on my old Carrier unit (which I loved) failed due to age. Since the new coil required an updated refrigerant, I decided to replace the AC unit as well. The installation went smoothly, and the unit (although failing to cool quite as well as its predecessor) has been functioning without issue. Fast forward to last weekend, when I received a letter from Goodman, stating that they were issuing a voluntary recall on their evaporator coil drain pans (“under abnormal conditions, the drain pans may overheat, deform and melt, posing a fire hazard”). Of course, whenever I see the words “fire hazard”, I sit up and take notice. I immediately contacted Goodman and found out that my unit was affected. Initially, I was impressed that they quickly sent out a replacement kit - which took only a couple of days to arrive at my home. But unfortunately, my experience has accelerated downhill from there. Goodman provides their own technicians to effect these types of repairs - apparently because these dealers are willing to complete the job at a rock bottom price. As a homeowner, I have specific vendors that I have trusted over the years who know me and my home, and I would prefer to have the repairs effected by the HVAC company that has performed my service for many years. Goodman does allow for these “third-party” repair preferences, and my HVAC company was able to price out the job. Unfortunately, when they filed their claim with Goodman, they determined that only a nominal amount would be disbursed, and that the balance (which was over $600) would have to be covered at my expense. Think: “You totaled your $40,000 vehicle, and the insurance company is only prepared to issue you a check for $20,000”. Since discovering that I am on the hook for $600+ in order for Goodman’s problematic part to be repaired correctly (and which I would think they would want to avoid fixing “on the cheap”, since they apparently didn’t get the original design correct in the first place), I have tried every avenue I could think of to avoid having to foot such a large bill myself: 1. I talked to my HVAC company to determine if there was any way they could affect the repair for less. Nope. Replacing the pan will require removing that coil, and that’s a two-man job. 2. I called Goodman’s recall department (which - although staffed by friendly people - is really just a call center). They said they couldn’t help and directed me to the main Goodman number. 3. I called the main Goodman number and was told that they have technicians that have agreed to the rock bottom “you get what you pay for” price, and that if I don’t want to use one of those, I’ll have to pay the difference myself. Gives new meaning to the term “paying customer”. 4. I asked what this rock bottom price was. After a brief hold, I was told that Goodman cannot release the actual amount of the rock bottom price. 5. I asked to speak to a supervisor. After some recalcitrance, I was finally connected with said supervisor, who rendered the same explanation. In essence: “You have to use one of our techs-who-you-have-knowledge-of-and-cannot-vouch-for-the-quality-of-their-work-and-oh-by-the-way-they’ve-agreed-to-do-the-repair-for-the-rock-bottom-price-that-we-won’t-tell-you-what-it-is or else you must pay the difference yourself”. 6. After thinking about things, I decided to try to vet their list of vendors to see if I could indeed go with one of them. I called Goodman back and was immediately told that Goodman doesn’t release the names of these vendors. “You can go to our website for a list of certified Goodman vendors, but there’s no guarantee that the one you call is the one that has agreed to do the repair. And oh, by the way, our process is not for you to call them. They will contact you when they are able to fit you in to the 500,000+ repairs that have to be made”. Needless to say, at this point, frustration levels were through the roof. Continuing... 7. I opened the Goodman website and found a list of certified vendors - scrolling through them and using the point-and-click method, coupled with “they have a nice sounding name” to pick one at random. I found a vendor after a few minutes, checked their reviews (they were good), and called. I was immediately connected to a receptionist who promptly dropped my call. I called back, got the same receptionist, and was able to talk for about 30 seconds before she dropped my call again. 8. I called a second vendor and was told that they weren’t sure whether or not they did Goodman recall repairs. They would get back with me once their service manager had an opportunity. No call came that day. 9. I called my home warranty company to see if they could help with my $600+ passed-along-to-customer cost. They were very nice, and nicely told me that my warranty does not cover manufacturer recalls. So, that pretty much brings the saga up-to-date. I absolutely loathe feeling so defeated, and have pretty much resigned myself to paying $600+ to correctly repair Goodman’s defective manufacturer part. This was my first Goodman unit, and - one thing I can absolutely promise - it will definitely be my last.

(8-20-15) Our house had a Lennox heat pump system that came with a new house made in 2006. It nearly broke me financially with repairs and the straw broke when my family was on the cold side during last winter. I called Recker and Boerger this year and they gave us a bid on a brand-new GOODMAN 16 SEER 4-ton unit armed with a scroll compressor, matching variable air handler, 5-year parts and labor warranty on the entire unit, 10-year parts after the 5 years is up, and a LIFETIME scroll compressor replacement guarantee in the event that the compressor fails for any reason--providing it stays at the same house it was installed in. I explained in great detail to the R&B salesman that my family had been through hell with winter and repair costs and we really needed some good service. This Goodman unit we got installed is fabulous. Its quiet, powerful and it slowly brings up the air speed in the house and slowly reduces to almost not notice it. The outdoor 4-ton unit is quiet enough for people to carry a conversation without missing a single pronunciation...its that quiet! Please do yourself a favor and take the time to tell your installing contractor and they will come through for you like they did us. Make it personal, get to know them a little by offering some lunch (pizza and pop) like we did, and they will do a PERFECT JOB for you...providing they have the ability. Our final cost was that they took off 3% of the price (paid cash with a 401K loan) and they threw in a free HEPA whole house filtration system and half off of a forced air HVAC humidifier. I saved ~$600 + I got back $200 from Duke Energy for a qualifying energy saving system!!! Win, win, win. People, we love this unit and my wife thinks I am a superhero now. Everybody is happy and the contractors left with a full belly and a thank you. Take care of people and they will take care of you.

I purchased a Goodman central air conditioner in 2009. Since that purchase I have had to change the inside coils within 4 yrs and numerous service calls. Last year June of 2013, there was a leak on the inside coils and it cost me 400.00 labor and prior to that I spent 350.00 to diagnose the problem. Now it is Sept 2014, the air compressor locked up and failed, now the warranty expired in 5 yrs. I am looking at a replacement cost of at least 1400.00, but Goodman honored the warranty because it was expired by 2 days. Next week Sept 15 the coils in the unit leaked, the technicians tried to repaired it but could not. I had to purchase a new unit for 1450.00

I have a Goodman AC unit that is barely 2 years old. Back in November 2017 my coil went bad and lost all coolant. Had to wait almost 2 months for a new coil since it was on backorder. The new coil was installed in January of 2018. Roughly a month later, the float switch died and had to be replaced. A week or two later, the blower died. This also had to be replaced. It is now June of 2018 and the six months old coil is leaking AGAIN! It will cost around 800 dollars to fix AGAIN! Since both coils failed and caused the air handler to freeze up, I now have water damage in the air handler cabinet. Mold is now growing and had to be removed. The air handler cabinet will have to be replaced as well since the insulation is now damaged. With this new repair, I will be $2,000 dollars in the hole on a 2 year old system.Goodman seems like they have poor quality control for their systems and refuse to help. I called the manufacturer and they blame the installation company and to contact the distributor about any complaints. Since the parts keep failing, I would say its the manufacturers fault, not an installation company or distributor. They also have poor customer service. The person I called was Debbie. She was very rude and not helpful at all. She seemed like she didnt want to hear my complaint and not help me. She told us to call the distributor and that was it.With poor quality control and poor customer service, I would have to say this is, by far the worst company I have had to deal with and never will again. Reading all the reviews on here, I am starting to consider legal action against GOODMAN. There has to be some laws protecting consumers against such practices that GOODMAN conducts.

Our house has two HVAC units. Had both air conditioners replaced just under two years ago. The coil from the bigger unit cracked, and all the refrigerant leaked out. The warranty covered the part, the cheapest item of the repair. The warranty did NOT cover the labor or the $1500 worth of refrigerant that leaked. What a gyp. Its not like we did anything out of character. We paid a certified installer to install a new unit. Air conditioners use refrigerant. If the unit breaks, the refrigerant leaks out. This should be covered. The treatment from Goodman (also known as Diakin) is that if you pay to have brakes installed on your car, and the brakes fail causing your car to get totaled, Goodman will pay for new brakes, but not to have them installed, or to have the car repaired or replaced, saying were terribly sorry our brakes failed, but the rest of the car, well, thats just incidental, we wont cover you, thats on you. This gets worse. I posted a review on their website. They emailed me asking for more information. They emailed me back asking me to call. I called. They found my warranty, but had no idea why I was told to call. The lady said it must have been our media team. And that was it! Oh yeah, I checked, they removed my negative review from their website. On top of that, they obviously manipulate their reviews. In addition to removing mine, they left another review that gave one star, but talked about how Goodman made the best unit every. Cant even own up to their mistakes. I will not make the mistake with Goodman again. Our furnaces are probably going to go in the next few years, certainly will avoid Goodman and Diakin.

So sorry to write this, but want to warn others not to waste their money buying Goodman HVACs. We are a manufacturers dream because we take care of anything we own. Since purchasing our unit in 2017, we have had it maintained by a local HVAC company that took care of a previous unit for 10 years. On June 1, 2019 our AC went out and diagnosis by the HVAC company that does maintenance as having a bad evaporator coil. I looked online and these normally last between 10 to 15 years. Goodman did warranty the part, but the change out and restarting the unit cost more than $2k.

I bought my house in 2014 in South Florida. The house was brand new construction and very well built. It has all impact windows and doors, along with plenty of insulation. The biggest mistake however was that the builder installed a GOODMAN manufacturing HVAC system. The system is sized well within Florida code and worked fine the first year. However, the second year things quickly went downhill during the summer of 2016 when the condenser motor went out in the unit - only to be followed by the coils leaking 4 months later. As of this summer 2017 the unit has gone out again and was completely out for 2 WEEKS!!! I set the unit to 74 and it runs all day even though the house is 85 degrees inside. I have had 4 different HVAC companies come out and try to diagnose my problem. I have had 7 techs from 4 different companies completely disassemble my unit trying to find the problem. They have checked all the ducting and checked my homes structure for leaks, to no avail. All 4 companies have told me that they believe that the unit is defective and ALL has NOTHING positive to say about the company and all these companies refuse to even do business with GOODMAN (for obvious reasons). That Goodman is one of the cheapest units you can buy and has the most problems! They all recommended that I Bite the Bullet and replace the 3 year old unit, after I have dumped $1400 into it. When I contacted Goodman Manufacturing, an American made Company out of TEXAS. I was told by a supervisor after explaining my situation, that there was nothing they could do to help me out, despite there being a 10 year warranty on the unit. The incompetent employee I spoke to from GOODMAN told me that my unit was fine and didnt see a reason for them to have to replace it. For a companys motto to be, At Goodman we believe in American Dependability. Units are designed, engineered and assembled in the U.S.A. to tell a customer that theres nothing you can do is appalling. Goodman Units are nothing more than the lowest quality TRASH - Made from defective parts in China and Mexico, shipped to the U.S and then assembled by migrate workers. Their whole American Made motto is **.Goodman Manufacturing and its management are no better than All Talk No Action Politicians! I hope Trump builds that WALL and taxes your defective parts coming into the U.S so much you go bankrupt!!! It is safe to say that I have thrown out my garbage known as Goodman and Switched to a much more dependable A/C unit.As for anyone thinking about buying a Goodman A/C unit dont!!! For anyone thinking about replacing their existing unit or buying a house with a Goodman A/C be warned!!! It will cause you so much money, stress and headache when it goes out within 3 years. You will be HIT IN THE FACE with thousands of dollars in repair bills, only to dish out another several thousand dollars to replace it with another unit. I am so entirely dissatisfied with Goodman, their product as well as their employees. I wont even sell my old unit to anyone because I dont want them going through what I had to, down here during a HOT South Florida Summer. P.S.A.!!! To anyone purchasing a new HVAC unit. Spend the extra money upfront and buy something that will last you at least 10 years. DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM GOODMAN MANUFACTURING OR YOU WILL EAT THESE WORDS, THAT I CAN PROMISE YOU!

I live in the NW and had my old unit replaced 6-2020 with a Goodman unit. The unit ran fine but was air only we have gas heat. So that said it only ran for app. 20 day in 2020. This year as temperatures rose in late June it started running for an additional 7 day then died completely by July 16th. That means this unit actually only lasted new for 37 days of A/C service. If it was a heat pump unit delivering heat that would have likely only lasted 1 month. That cost over 2500.00 for one months usage! No one wants to work on it. Just charge over 200.00 to diagnose the compressor is junk. We are left to suit the dealer who claimed 12 year parts & service extended Warranty on our contract in writing, and buy a real A/C unit that will last.Over 30 days usage. At my last home I sold in 2017 we put in a unit in 1997 upon our purchasing the home. It was a heat pump running all summer & winter. When we sold the home it still ran flawlessly 20 years later! I am sure many new homeowners may not be aware of this condition which is deliberately set to trick the customer, so the Goodman can wash off their hands of any failed part.Their customer service is lousy and have no consideration whatsoever for exceptional cases. They say only original homeowner will get 10 years warranty, means if the ownership changes, the warranty is over. This is really a joke & trap. As far as heating is concerned, the furnace heats evenly keeping the house warm, and it does so without making any noise which is very convenient. This furnace had saved us about $100 on our gas bills as compared to when we used the Rheem. If our Goodman furnace lasts long enough, we won’t hesitate to buy and stick to this brand. We love it so far.

I purchased my Goodman furnace and (so called 10 year warranty) through a contractor that was working for the builder who was building my addition. I never received the warranty registration form from the contractor that was suppose to be returned to Goodman within 60 days. I had a fan replaced within the first year that worked its way loose filling my house with smoke with no questions asked. Eight years later the same fan has bearing problems requiring another fan costing $640.73. Goodman now tells me it is no longer under warranty because the registration was never filed. Consumer Affairs could tell me when (the contractor) purchased the unit but they couldnt warranty it. The moral of this review is Goodman cant sell the unit to the consumer but they expect you to register it if your supplied with all necessary information from your blue collared installer. Im told that a fan problem is not a common problem in HVAC units but very costly. Theres much better quality than Goodman manufacturing.

In 2009, nearing the finish line of my post-Hurricane Katrina rebuild, I had two new Amana HVAC heat pumps installed. Less than 2 years later, one started malfunctioning and I was told the coils had a leak. Second opinion said no, but the problem persisted as the coolant apparently did leak out over time. Last year, the coils on the downstairs unit appeared to have a leak. I have a parts warranty but the labor runs between $800-$1000 per unit. I called Amana, unaware that this was a common problem, and the customer service rep could just have well sent me a picture of her middle finger with the attitude and complete lack of concern she showed. I guess the volume of complaints had her on edge. I did a lot of research before I bought these units and I had faith in the company. I never would have imagined I would have this much trouble in such a short period of time, as my old units had been in service for at least the 17 years since Id bought the house with only minor repairs, never coils or compressors. Ive been screwed by just about every contractor that set foot in my house but was happy to find a good HVAC company that didnt screw me on service, but the product is just BAD. I cant believe Goodman/Amana doesnt care enough about its reputation to address its customers concerns. Theyve changed their policies about it several times from what I can discern and now theres a class action suit against them. I teach marketing at a university and would love to give them some lessons because theyre in serious need. Bad moves, Goodman. Many bad moves. Im reluctant to pursue a class action suit because their lawyers will make millions and Ill get something like a $100 voucher, but maybe a private suit is in order. At the very least, I should contact the FTC.

I bought a Goodman heat pump model GsZ160361bd, serial no 1903096018 brand new and had it installed by a “license technician“. The unit broke in less than 18 months and required repairs that cost me approximately $1600 in labor. The part were covered by the manufacturer. But no customer should have to spend that much money on a heat pump that was purchased new. I believe Goodman Manufacturing has junk heat pumps and I recommend anyone looking to buy a new unit to look at the other manufacturer. Also make sure it is a sister brand name to Goodman. The customer support is of no use to the customer who purchased their product. All you get is scripted reply to call a license contract to fix their junk product! At your own cost! This is a real experience. Do not buy!
