Dishwasher Troubleshooting

Dishwasher doesn't run 
Fuse blown, or the circuit breaker acted Replace fuse or reset circuit breaker. Remove any other appliances sharing the same circuit with the dishwasher 
Power supply is not turned on. Make sure the dishwasher is turned on and the door is closed securely. Make sure the power cord is properly plugged into the wall socket.  
Water pressure is low. Check that the water supply is connected properly and the water is turned on.  

Drain pump doesn't stop 
Overflow. The system is designed to detect an overflow. When it does, it shuts off the circulation pump and turns on the drain pump.  

Noise 
Some audible sounds are normal. Sound from detergent cup opening.  
Utensils are not secure in the baskets or something small has dropped into the basket. To ensure everything is secured in the dishwasher. 
Motor hums. Dishwasher has not been used regularly. If you do not use it often, remember to set it to fill and pump out every week, which will help keep the seal moist. 

Suds in the tub 
Improper detergent. Use only the special dishwasher detergent to avoid suds. If this occurs, open the dishwasher and let suds evaporate. Add 1 gallon of cold water to the tub. Close and latch the dishwasher, then start the "pre-rinse" wash cycle to drain out the water. Repeat if necessary. 
Spilled rinse agent. Always wipe up rinse agent spills immediately. 

Stained tub interior 
Detergent with colorant was used. Make sure that the detergent is the one without colorant. 

Spots and filming on glasses and flatware 
1. Extremely hard water. Take out all metal utensils out of the dishwasher. 
2. Low inlet temperature. Do not add detergent. 
3. Overloading the dishwasher. Choose the longest cycle. 
4. Improper loading. Start the dishwasher and allow it to run for about 18 to 22 minutes, then it will be in the main wash. 
5. Old or damp powder detergent. Open the door to pour 2 cups of white vinegar into the bottom of the dishwasher. 
6. Empty rinse agent dispenser. Close the door and let the dishwasher complete the cycle.  
7. Incorrect dosage of detergent. 

Cloudiness on glassware 
Combination of soft water and too much detergent. Use less detergent if you have soft water and select a shortest cycle to wash the glassware and to get them clean.  

White film on inside surface 
Hard water minerals. To clean the interior, use a damp sponge with dishwasher detergent and wear rubber gloves. Never use any other cleaner than dishwasher detergent for the risk of foaming or suds.

Microwave Troubleshooting

Oven will not start 
a. Electrical cord for oven is not plugged in. 
b. Door is open. 
c. Wrong operation is set. 
a. Plug into the outlet. 
b. Close the door and try again. 

Arcing or sparking 
a. Materials to be avoided in microwave oven were used. 
b. The oven is operated when empty. 
c. Spilled food remains in the cavity.

Unevenly cooked foods

Range Troubleshooting

Nothing works 
• Oven is not connected to the electrical power. Have oven connected to a properly sized electrical power supply by a qualified electrician. 
• Power supply is not energized. Have an electrician check the power supply, including the house circuit breaker, wiring and fuses. 

Top burners do not light or do not burn evenly 
• Plug on range is not completely inserted in the electrical outlet. Make sure the unit is properly connected to the power supply. 
• Burner holes on the side of the burner may be clogged. Remove the burner heads and clean them.  Check the electrode area for burned-on food or grease. 

Burner flames very large and yellow. 
• Burner bezel ports are clogged. Clean burner bezel ring ports with straightened paper clip, needle, or wire. 
• Burner ports or burner caps are not positioned properly. Remove and carefully re-install burner bezel and caps. 
• Cooktop is being operated with the wrong type of gas. Ensure that the type of cooktop matches the natural gas supply. 
• Regulator is not installed, is faulty, or is set for the wrong type of gas. Check installation, replace regulator, or set regulator for proper gas. 

Sparking but no flame ignition. 
• Gas shut-off valve is in the 'OFF' position. Turn shut-off valve to the ‘ON’ position. 

Igniters spark continuously after flame ignition. 
• Power supply polarity is reversed. Have polarity corrected. 
• Igniters are wet or dirty. Dry or clean igniters. 

Burner flame goes out at low setting. 
• Low gas supply pressure. Contact gas company. 
• Air intake holes around knobs are obstructed. Remove obstruction. 

Oven will not heat 
• Oven settings are not corrected. 

Foods over-cooked or under-cooked 
• Incorrect cooking time or temperature. Adjust time, temperature, or rack position. 

'Cracking' or 'Popping' sound. 
• This is the sound of metal heating and cooling. This is normal.

Refrigerator Troubleshooting

Completely non-refrigeration 
• Is power plug off? Re-plug. 
• Are breakers and fuses a broken? 
• No electricity or line trip? 
• Re-plug. 
• Opening the door and checking whether the lamp is lit. 

Abnormal noise 
• Is refrigerator stable? 
• Does refrigerator reach the wall? 
• Adjusting refrigerator's adjustable feet. 
• Off the wall. 

Poor refrigerating efficiency 
• Do you put hot food or too much food? 
• Do you open the door frequently? 
• Do you clip food bag to the seal of door? 
• Direct sunlight or near a furnace or stove? 
• Is it well-ventilated?  
• Temperature setting in too high?  
• Putting  food  into  refrigerator  when  hot  food becomes cool. 
• Checking and closing the door. 
• Removing the refrigerator from the heat source. 
• Emptying the distance to maintain good ventilation. 
• Setting to the appropriate temperature.

• Any spoiled food?
