Fulgor Milano Appliance Troubleshooting

A passion for quality, contemporary design and the Italian way of life inspire them to continually improve and develop in the area of innovation. Although Fulgor Milano has had a history of manufacturing cooking equipment since the late 1940s, it became their goal to build on that heritage and develop cooking equipment that would exceed all expectations of quality, performance, and styling.

Dishwasher Troubleshooting

Machine does not start
• Power cable is unplugged. Check if the power cable is plugged in.
• Circuit Breaker is blown. Check the Circuit Breaker in your house.
• Water is cut. Make sure that the water inlet tap is open.
• Door of the machine is open. Make sure that you have closed the door of the machine.
• On / Off button is not pressed. Make sure that you have turned on the machine by pressing the On / Off button.

Dishes are not washed clean
• Dishes are not placed orderly in the machine.
• Selected program is unsuitable. Select a program with a higher temperature and cycle time.
• Wash arms are stuck. Prior to starting the program, turn the lower and upper Wash arms by hand to make sure that they rotate freely.
• Wash arms holes are clogged. Lower and upper Wash arms holes might be clogged with small food particles and debris.
• Filters are clogged. Check if the filter system is clean.
• Filters are installed incorrectly. Check the filter system and make sure that it is installed correctly.
• Baskets are overloaded. Do not overload the baskets in excess of their capacity.
• Detergent is stored under unsuitable conditions. If you are using powder detergent, do not store the detergent package in humid places. Keep it in a closed container if possible. For ease-of-storing, we recommend you to use tablet detergents.
• Detergent is not sufficient. If you are using powder detergent, adjust the amount of detergent according to the soiling degree of your dishes and/or program definitions. We recommend you to use tablet detergents for optimum results.
• Rinse aid is not sufficient. Check the rinse aid indicator and add rinse aid if necessary. Increase the rinse aid setting if there is enough amount of rinse aid in the machine.
• Detergent dispenser lid is left open. Make sure that the detergent dispenser lid is closed tightly after adding detergent.

Dishes are not dry at the end of cycle
• Dishes are not placed orderly in the machine. Place your dishes in a way that no water will accumulate in them.
• Rinse aid is not sufficient. Check the rinse aid indicator and add rinse aid if necessary. Increase the rinse aid setting if there is enough amount of rinse aid in the machine.
• Machine is unloaded right after the program is over. Do not unload your machine right after washing process is completed. Slightly open the door and  wait for evacuation of the steam inside for a while. Unload the dishes after the pieces cool down to a touchable level. Start unloading process from the lower basket. Thus, dropping of water remained on a piece at upper basket onto the pieces at lower basket is prevented.
• Selected program is unsuitable. Since rinsing temperature is low at program with short duration, drying performance will also be low. Select program with longer duration for a higher drying performance.
• Surface quality of the kitchen utensils is deteriorated. Desired washing performance can not be obtained at kitchen utensils with deteriorated surfaces and it is not suitable to use such utensils in terms of hygiene as well. Also, water can not flow easily on deteriorated surfaces. It is not recommended to wash such kitchen utensils in dishwasher.

Stains remaining on dishes when cycle has completed
• Selected program is unsuitable. Select a program with a higher temperature and cycle time.
• Surface quality of the kitchen utensils is deteriorated. Tea and coffee stains or other dye spots may not be cleaned in dishwasher when they have penetrated in deteriorated surfaces. Desired washing performance can not be obtained at kitchen utensils with deteriorated surfaces and it is not suitable to use such utensils in terms of hygiene as well. It is not recommended to wash such kitchen utensils in dishwasher.
• Detergent is stored under unsuitable conditions. If you are using powder detergent, do not store the detergent package in humid places. Keep it in a closed container if possible. For ease-of-storing, we recommend you to use tablet detergents.

Lime traces remain on dishes and glassware gains a misty appearance
• Rinse aid is not sufficient. Check the rinse aid indicator and add rinse aid if necessary. Increase the rinse aid setting if there is enough amount of rinse aid in the machine.
• Water hardness setting is low or salt level is insufficient Measure the hardness of the supply water appropriately and check the water hardness setting.
• Salt leakage exists. Pay attention not to spill salt around the salt filling hole while adding salt. Make sure that the salt reservoir lid is tightly closed after finishing the filling process. Run the prewash program to remove the salt that spilled inside the machine. Since the salt granules that will remain under the lid will dissolve during prewash, causing the lid loosen, check the lid once again at the end of the program.

Microwave Troubleshooting

Microwave Plate Won’t Turn
The turning microwave plate is essential to evenly cook the food. your microwave plate needs to support your food while also turning steadily to cook the food evenly on every side. If your plate won’t spin, this relates to an entire spinning assembly designed for the purpose. First, check the plate. Then look at the wide guide-rollers underneath the plate. Then check to see if the pronged coupler in the microwave center is cracked. Finally, inspect the drive motor for current and coupling.

Microwave Won’t Turn On
Of course, your microwave is completely useless if it won’t turn on or respond to button presses. A microwave that seems to not turn on may be suffering from a number of failures. Start by checking the wall plug to ensure the microwave is plugged into power. Next, check the door switch and the door latch assembly. The microwave won’t start if the appliance believes the door is open. Next, check the two fuses, the thermal fuse, and the ceramic fuse, to see if they need to be replaced.

Microwave Door Not Closing Properly
With older appliances, it’s common for the door to stop hanging or closing properly over time. This often happens because the hinges or springs have come loose from their original factory tightened state. When the door doesn’t close properly, heat and smells can escape the microwave while other malfunctions ensue. A microwave door that won’t latch might be difficult to open or close, and the microwave may struggle to acknowledge the door as fully closed. Consider looking closely at the door latch assembly and the hinges, along with the torsion springs related to the hinges. Tighten loose screws and replace any damaged parts.

Microwave Door Stuck Closed
Sometimes, a microwave door can become stuck closed. This is particularly common in microwaves that have a push release door switch. If your microwave door is stuck closed, don’t worry. There is usually at least one manual override so that the microwave door can be opened without the usual button or mechanism. It helps to know what this manual door override is for your model of microwave. Once you master the open door trick, take a look at the latch assembly. This is most likely where you’ll find the stuck door problem. You may also want to repair the door handle and/or button release mechanism.

Microwave Doesn’t Shut Off
Another problem can be that your microwave doesn’t stop running when the timer runs out. This alarming situation is surprisingly common and can do a lot more than overcook your meal. You may need to force the door open or unplug the unit to stop it from cooking. In this case, you want to take a look solely at electronic parts that might be at fault. The door interlock switch might not be triggering. Or the microwave’s smartboard which controls all of the microwave’s computer functions like timing how long the unit runs.

Microwave Not Heating
When a microwave starts to get old, it’s more likely that you will run into the problem where the microwave light comes on and it hums, but no heat is created. If your microwave is not heating, the first place to look is the door switch. Just in case the door isn’t latching and therefore the cycle isn’t starting. You can also check out the voltage diode. But if you determine that it’s the magnetron, you might as well replace your microwave.

Range Troubleshooting

Surface Element Not Heating At All
∙ The element itself may have failed.
∙ If a 'plug-in' style element, the element terminal block may have failed.
∙ If a 'smooth top' range model, the element or element limiter may have failed.
∙ The element control switch may have failed.
∙ If two surface elements stopped heating at the same time, a fuse in the range may have opened.

Surface Element Stays on High
∙ The element control switch may have failed.

Surface Element Only Gets Warm
∙ If a 'plug-in' style element, the element terminal block may have failed.
∙ The element control switch may have failed.
∙ If a 'smooth top' range model, the element limiter may be opening prematurely.
∙ There may be a problem in the wiring to the element or its switch.
∙ The element or its wiring may be shorted to ground.
∙ If a Euro-style solid cast iron element, the element may have overheated or is defective.

The Hot Surface Indicator Light Stays On
∙ The element limiter switch may be shorted.

Just Bake or Broil Element Does Not Heat At All
∙ The oven element may have failed.
∙ Their may be problem in the control system.
∙ Their may be problem in the wiring to the malfunctioning element.

ALL Elements Do Not Heat but Lights and Clock Work
∙ A fuse/breaker in the house electrical panel may have failed/tripped.
∙ Their may be problem with the wiring at the main terminal block.

The Whole Oven Does Not Heat At All
∙ One of the fuses/breakers in the house fuse panel may have opened.
∙ The clock/timer may not be set properly or has failed.
∙ The oven thermostat or selector switch may have failed.
∙ If an electronic control model, the electronic control may have failed.
∙ A fuse in the range may have opened - applies only to Canadian models.

Oven Temperature is Not Accurate
∙ The oven control may be defective or out of calibration.
∙ The oven thermostat sensor bulb may be out of place.
∙ If electronically controlled, the oven temperature sensor may be defective.
∙ The oven vent may be blocked or the door not sealing properly.

"Like most folks, I spent many MANY hours weighing out my options before purchasing a range. I looked at virtually everything under $9K and realized the following: I wanted dual fuel for the added control and monitoring of oven functions, but had to be prepared to pay heavily for this convenience if I wanted the quality of a truly high-end manufacturer. That is, until I found the Sofia. At first, I overlooked this range while equating price and workmanship. I had pretty much settled on the Thermador dual fuel, but decided to visit a show room just to be certain. Fortunately, sitting right next to the Thermador at the show room was the Fulgor Milano Sofia, and it outshines the Thermador by a mile. The workmanship on the Sofia is brilliant, from the HEAVY oven door with soft-close function, to the overall aesthetic, the Sofia is truly a beautiful piece of machinery. The functionality of the 6 huge burners is stellar, and the little things like the food temperature probe that connects with the digital display lend a little extra technology to the unit that you just don't see in other make/models. All this at a price point of gas-only base-models in it's competitors. The only, likely unfounded, slight twinge of reservation I had upon purchasing came from the fact that Fulgor seems to be relatively unknown in the US market. I think you can chalk this up to the fact that they are a relatively new competitor here. I took a chance on them and so far couldn't be happier. If the quality holds the way it has been during my first few months of use, this range is bound to make waves in the market. I think any discerning buyer will feel the same way too. Buying through AJ Madison was a good experience as well. The delivery company was flexible and worked with me on coordinating drop off as the kitchen was under construction at the time."

"I wanted to give a quick review as I researched and researched for months and looked at every major appliance store in the Northern VA Area including Best Buy, AJ Madison, Miele Experience Store, ADU and ABW. But this is about the range not the place you buy it from. In short this range has exceeded my expectations in every way and am sure it will yours as well. For me it came to this range vs. a 10,000 Miele dual fuel range and feel like I made the right choice. Looked at Z Line, Samsung, Jenn-Air, Thermador, GE, LG Signature, Blue Star, and many others. It came down to Blue Star vs. Fulgor vs. Miele. They all have their strengths. But aesthetically and functionally I think Fulgor equals if not exceeds some of the other high end models for a bit less pocket change and you sacrifice nothing. The knobs and grates and range surface (more on that later) and the over cavity are top notch. Each of the Sofia's 6 burners go from low, low, low to 18 to 20K. I didn't see that on any other range. Also the top of the range is covered in not the typical shiny porcelainized black top in every other range (although Fisher-Paykel are stainless) but a matte finish which sort of reminds you of Silverstone non-stick and doesn't highlight the oil and messes that inevitably will land there. It is easy to clean. I have not used the electronic control for the oven (typically not needed except for a few functions) except for turning on rapid preheat or setting the time clock. Otherwise everything works like a charm. This thing just exudes luxury and quality as well as the much more expensive Jenn-Air's, Miele's and BlueStars. I can literally bring a big pot of water to boil in like 5-10 minutes. It's awesome in a word."

"I researched stoves online for a long time prior to making this purchase, and visited many stores that sell mid and high end stoves. I really wanted a commercial grade stove with some key features, but also had a budget to consider. My wife and I cook and bake daily so wanted something with lots of room, power, and good quality. Key features I wanted included 36" 6-burner gas stove with large electric convection oven (aka dual fuel), self clean, and of key importance, it had to look really good. :-) I am in no way associated with FM, AJ Madison, and offer this as an unbiased review. My budget evolved over time, and I came to the conclusion to get everything I wanted I would need to spend $5-$6k. Of course I started looking at some of the lower price models first but found they all lacked either some of the key features or overall build quality. I looked at Verona, NXR, Bluestar, Bertazzoni, DCS, Thermadore, Viking, Wolf, and others. The lower end models (Verona, NXR) either lacked features or build quality. The higher end (Thermadore, Viking, Wolf) offered watered down versions at my price point and also lacked key features such as dual duel and self clean in their lower end models. Bertazzoni, offered some similar features, but in putting my hands on both at appliance stores, I found the Fulgor Milano to be hands down superior- way more power for burners, much larger oven (5.2 cf vs 4.0 cf) and all around better build. The FM weighs around 385 lbs. vs. 250 lbs. for Bertazzoni. Okay, about the range. I purchased the Fulgor Milano (FM) Sophia 36" DF range. First off, I have owned it for about 4 months. I wanted to allow some time to really get to know it. Cooktop: 6 high powered 18,000 btu solid brass burners. I wanted all high power so I could cook anything on any burner, unlike some of the other stoves with some low power burners. 18,000 btu really packs some punch. Also, these are dual stack burners that allow one to reduce to very low simmer on inner ring. They work great. The cooktop also features 3 continuous grates which are very solid and allow you to slide large pots around easily. Also, the cooktop is a one piece, matte black surface, that is really easy to clean, durable, and doesn't show grime or scratch like some of the unfinished stainless steel (SS) surfaces on other models. A very minor cleaning issue: there is a narrow seam on front edge of cooktop just wide enough to trap a grain of rice or equivalent 1/16" maybe). I have used a toothpick to clean. There are six metal burner control knobs with burner location graphic for each that feel well made and have a gas shutoff built in if burner goes out (hasn't happened to me but a nice safety feature). One final note on the cooktop, the front surface is solid billet aluminum and not pressed SS. I feel it will resist dents and dings much better than SS. Oven: large, 5.2 cf oven, with 3 racks (one sliding), and two oven lights. This model has two convection fans. I bought an over thermometer to double check temps and found the oven temp to be very accurate. The oven uses two knobs and a LCD touch screen display to control everything. One knob controls baking modes. Bake, broil, roast, plus convection and non-convection, while the other controls temp. The display show time, oven temp., and also has a timer, and a preheat display. Originally, I was looking for an over with no display as with the commercial ovens, but I am really happen with this display, it is easy to use and I like having the timer and the preheat indicator bars. The oven has a cool temp. Probe you insert into your beef/poultry and the LCD shows the internal temp while it is baking. Due to the size of the oven, it takes a while to get up to temp (maybe 10-12 min to 350 and 17-20 minutes to 450. The oven has 4 pane glass so is cool to touch even at high baking temp. Also I find the door metal surfaces etc. warm but not hot to touch during baking. The door is soft close which I have found useful and keeps the heavy door from slamming. The oven performance has been excellent, convection makes for crisp cookies, French fries, and meats/poultries. I really like the variety of settings with baking elements and convection, as well as the evenness in temp. Plus at close to 400 lbs. it seems to radiate heat well. Unfortunately I have not used the self clean feature yet choosing to wipe down spills to date. I really like having that option for major clean up though. I also feel that an oven built to withstand 900 degree self clean is built to last. Range hood: I have not installed this yet (kitchen renovation) so can only comment that it looks really solid heavy gauge SS with 600 cfm fan so I am looking forward to using it. Wok holder and Simmer plate: very nice add one that fit perfect in place on the burner grates. The simmer plate actually nests inside the wok holder so you can leave them in place if desired on one of the unused burners. I recommend them. Appearance/build quality: this is one of the best looking stoves I have seen. Really beautiful, commercial but modern and elegant. This seems really well made. FM did not skimp on materials. The billet solid front to cooktop, billet oven handle mounts, even the solid metal logo on oven door are all quality. Order/Delivery: AJ Madison was great throughout the process. I worked with Victor Swed who provided excellent service. They offered the best price I could find plus free shipping and no tax. Also, there was a special with 1/2 off the matching range hood. Delivery was well planned and the item came well boxed and strapped to a pallet. I did have to wait a few weeks for the range hood which arrived well after the stove. Also, the wok and simmer plate were on back order so took a while to arrive. Not a big deal to me and well worth the wait. Warranty: I bought the 5 year supplemental warranty for around $450, which, if not used, is rebated 50% for a total cost of around $225. Registering was a fairly easy process."

"I waited for a while so I could use this before reviewing it. I love this range. The gas cook top works so well. Every burner is the same, so I don't have to remember which one is hot and which one is not as hot. Heats up water really quickly. Clean up on the cook top is wonderful. It gives me lots of room. Canning was amazing this year. The oven is huge and the convection for cooking lots of rolls for my big family dinners is great. Over all I am so happy with this purchase. I love having six burners."

Ive owned a $6k Liebherr and wanted to purchase a similar refrigerator. With my current kitchen layout, Liebherr did not have the correct size that I needed to fit my kitchen. Having owned a Fulgor Milano oven, I was impressed with the quality of the oven and found that this refrigerator checked of all of the boxes. We have had this refrigerator for a few weeks now and we are very happy with our purchase. We are able to fit our weekly groceries for a family of four and still have room left over for more items. If you are looking for a higher quality refrigerator without the higher price, I highly recommend this refrigerator. Notes: 1) Water source in refrigerator does not cool the water, it is room temperature and would require ice to chill the water. 2) You must purchase the handles as an extra, they are not included with the refrigerator.
