JennAir Appliance Repair

Bringing luxury designer kitchens to a whole new level, JennAir offers a full range of high end kitchen appliances, innovative technology and expert advice.

Dishwasher Repair

For the home, kitchen and beyond, Jenn Air manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of Jenn Air appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.

Jenn Air Dishwasher not cleaning
The water inlet valve opens to allow water to enter the dishwasher. If the valve is clogged or defective, the dishwasher won’t get enough water to clean dishes properly. If the water inlet valve is clogged, replace it. Do not attempt to clean the water inlet valve—cleaning the valve could make it more likely to fail.
The water pump belt might be worn or broken. However, few dishwashers have a water pump belt, you should search for your model number to determine if it has a water pump belt. To access the water pump belt, remove the lower panel. The water pump belt is located on the bottom of the motor. If the water pump belt is broken or worn, replace it.

Jenn Air Dishwasher not draining
The drain impeller pushes water through the drain hose and into the garbage disposer or drain line. If the impeller is broken, replace it.
The drain pump uses an impeller to force water through the drain hose. If the drain pump motor is not working, the dishwasher won’t drain. To determine if the drain pump is defective, check the pump motor for continuity using a multimeter. If the motor does not have continuity, or if is getting power but won’t run, replace the drain pump. Drain pumps are not repairable—if the drain pump is defective, you must replace it.

Jenn Air Dishwasher buttons not working
First, confirm that the dishwasher display is working. If the display is still working, try pressing some of the touchpad buttons. If some of the buttons respond correctly but others don’t, it is likely that the touchpad is at fault. (Some manufacturers sell the touchpad separately from the control panel. Other manufacturers require that you purchase the touchpad and control panel together. If you cannot replace the touchpad individually, replace the touchpad and control panel.)

Jenn Air Dishwasher lights flashing or blinking
The heating element heats up the water to operating temperature. If the water doesn’t reach the proper temperature after a set amount of time, a light on the control panel might start flashing. To determine if the heating element has burned out, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the heating element does not have continuity, replace it.

Jenn Air Dishwasher leaking
The water inlet valve opens to allow water to enter the dishwasher. If the water inlet valve is stuck open, the dishwasher will continue to fill with water until the dishwasher leaks or overflows. If the water inlet valve is at fault, replace it. Water inlet valves are not repairable—if the valve is defective, you must replace it.

Microwave Repair

For the home, kitchen and beyond, Jenn Air manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of Jenn Air appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.

Jenn Air Microwave not heating
The diode converts the A/C power output of the transformer to D/C, doubling the voltage to nearly 5,000 volts. This high voltage powers the magnetron to heat the food. If the diode burns out, the magnetron won’t receive enough voltage to operate, preventing the microwave from heating. When the diode fails, it is often visibly burned out. Inspect the diode and if the diode is burned out, replace it. If inspecting the diode proves inconclusive, test it with a multimeter that uses a 9-volt battery or put a 9-volt battery in series with the diode. When the leads are reversed, the diode should only have continuity in one direction. (Warning: The microwave oven can store a lethal amount of electricity in its high voltage capacitor, even after the microwave oven has been unplugged. Due to the high running voltage and the potential for electric shock, it is extremely dangerous to replace the electronic components in a microwave. Only a licensed technician should replace the diode.)

Jenn Air Microwave not working
If too much current passes through the microwave circuitry, the line fuse will blow. If the line fuse blows, the microwave won’t start. To determine if the line fuse is at fault, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the fuse does not have continuity, replace it. In addition, you should investigate and resolve the problem that caused the fuse to blow. If you don’t resolve the underlying issue, the new fuse will blow too. (Caution: The microwave oven can store thousands of volts of electricity in its high voltage capacitor, even after the microwave oven has been unplugged. Due to the potential for electric shock, it is extremely dangerous to replace the electronic components in a microwave. Only a licensed technician should replace the line fuse.)

Jenn Air Microwave light bulb not working
The light bulb itself might be burned out. Replace the light bulb before replacing any of the parts associated with the light bulb. Before replacing the control, check the light bulbs, sockets, and wiring. If these parts seem to be working properly, test the control board with a multimeter to determine if it sending the correct voltage to the light bulb socket. If the control board is not sending enough voltage to the light bulb socket, replace the control board.

Jenn Air Microwave shuts off after a few seconds
A door switch might be failing intermittently. Check each of the door switches for signs of overheating, arcing, or burning. If you don’t see any obvious signs of failure, use a multimeter to test each switch for continuity. If any of the switches is visibly damaged or only has intermittent continuity, replace it. Control boards are often misdiagnosed—before replacing the control board, first check more commonly defective parts, particularly the door switches. If all of the other components are working properly, replace the control board.

Jenn Air Microwave turntable not turning
Use a multimeter to test the motor for continuity. If the turntable motor does not have continuity, replace it. If the microwave turntable is not turning the glass tray drive coupling could be broken or stripped out. Gently pull the coupling off the drive motor shaft to inspect the drive coupling for damage. If the microwave turntable is not turning the glass tray support could be broken or stripped out. Gently pull the support off the drive motor shaft to inspect the tray support for damage.

Range Repair

For the home, kitchen and beyond, Jenn Air manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of Jenn Air appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.

Igniter
The igniter is the most commonly defective part for an oven not heating. The igniter has two main functions. First, the igniter draws electrical current through the oven safety valve to open it. Second, the igniter gets hot enough to glow and ignite the gas in the oven burner. If the igniter gets weak, it will fail to open the safety valve correctly. If the valve does not open, the oven will not heat. To determine if the igniter is defective, observe the igniter when the oven is on. If the igniter glows for more than 90 seconds without igniting the gas flame, this indicates that the igniter is too weak to open the valve. If the igniter is weak, replace it. If the igniter does not glow at all, use a multimeter to test the igniter for continuity. If the igniter does not have continuity, replace it.

Bake Element
When the bake element is heating properly, it glows red hot. If the element does not glow red, this indicates that the element is not heating. Often, if the heating element has burned out, it will be visibly damaged. Inspect the heating element for holes or blisters. To determine if the bake element has burned out, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the bake element does not have continuity, replace it.

Bake or Broil Spark Electrode
For bake & broil burner ignition an oven burner spark electrode is used to ignite the gas. The electrode is a device that sits right next to the burner. It functions like a spark plug. As power is applied to it a spark jumps from the spark electrode tip to the to the electrode shield, igniting the gas. If the electrode is broken or worn out the spark may not occur. Visually inspect the electrode assembly for cracks in the porcelain housing or damage to the electrode tip itself. Be aware that a proper ground and the correct polarity of the incoming voltage to the range is necessary for the electrode control to sense the presence of a flame once the burner is ignited. If the burner goes off after ignition check for proper ground and the correct polarity at the wall outlet.

Broil Element
Inspect the broil element for holes or blisters. When the broil element is heating properly, it glows red hot. If the element does not glow red, this indicates that the element is not heating. Often, if the broil element has burned out, it will be visibly damaged. To determine if the broil element has burned out, use a multimeter to test the element for continuity. If the broil element does not have continuity, replace it.

Thermal Fuse
If the oven gets too hot, the thermal fuse trips to shut off power to the oven. If the thermal fuse has blown, the oven will not heat. However, this is not a common occurrence. To determine if the thermal fuse is at fault, use a multimeter to test the fuse for continuity. If the thermal fuse does not have continuity, replace it. The thermal fuse cannot be reset—if the fuse has blown, it must be replaced.

Refrigerator Repair

For the home, kitchen and beyond, Jenn Air manufactures appliances that homeowners have come to trust. Even a trustworthy appliance requires occasional maintenance or repair, however. If you’re in need of Jenn Air appliance repair from experienced professionals, your local Appliance Helper can help.

Condenser Coils are Dirty
The condenser coils are usually located under the refrigerator. They dissipate heat as refrigerant passes through them. If the condenser coils are dirty, they won’t dissipate the heat effectively. As debris builds up on the coils, the refrigerator becomes less efficient, causing the refrigerator to work harder to cool down. If the coils are significantly dirty, the refrigerator will not be able to maintain the proper temperature. Check the condenser coils to determine if they are dirty—if the condenser coils are dirty, clean them.

Condenser Fan Motor
The condenser fan motor draws air though the condenser coils and over the compressor. If the condenser fan motor is not working properly, the refrigerator won’t cool properly. To determine if the fan motor is defective, first check the fan blade for obstructions. Next, try turning the fan motor blade by hand. If the blade does not spin freely, replace the condenser fan motor. If no obstructions are present and the fan blade spins freely, use a multimeter to test the fan motor for continuity. If the condenser fan motor does not have continuity, replace it.

Evaporator Fan Motor
The evaporator fan motor draws air over the evaporator (cooling) coils and circulates it throughout the refrigerator and freezer compartments. Some refrigerators have more than one evaporator fan motor. On refrigerators with only one evaporator, the evaporator is located in the freezer compartment. If the evaporator fan is not working, it will not circulate the cold air to the refrigerator compartment. If this occurs, the freezer may still get cold, while the refrigerator will not get cold. To determine if the evaporator fan motor is defective, try turning the fan blade by hand. If the fan blade does not turn freely, replace the fan motor. Additionally, if the motor is unusually noisy, replace it. Finally, if the motor does not run at all, use a multimeter to test the motor windings for continuity. If the windings do not have continuity, replace the evaporator fan motor.

Start Relay
The start relay works in conjunction with the start winding to start the compressor. If the start relay is defective, the compressor may sometimes fail to run or may not run at all. As a result, the refrigerator will not be cold enough. To determine if the start relay is defective, use a multimeter to test it for continuity between the run and start terminal sockets. If the start relay does not have continuity between the run and start terminal sockets, replace it. In addition, if the start relay has a burnt odor, replace it.

Temperature Control Thermostat
The temperature control thermostat directs voltage to the compressor, evaporator fan motor, and condenser fan motor (if applicable). If the temperature control thermostat is not working properly, it may prevent the refrigerant system from running. To determine if the thermostat is defective, rotate the thermostat from the lowest setting to the highest setting and listen for a click. If the thermostat clicks, it is not likely defective. If the thermostat does not click, use a multimeter to test the thermostat for continuity. If the temperature control thermostat does not have continuity at any setting, replace it.

We have had our microwave/convection oven for about seven years. It still looks and acts brand new. The only caution I would have is make sure you measure it before you buy it. It is a bit longer than any other microwave we’ve ever purchased so we had to get fancy to fit it in the built-in space. By far the best microwave we’ve owned. It cleans up very easily too. Would recommend.

It is big, but not in a bad bulky way. Its visually very attractive to look at, and runs quietly. Keeps food cold, and gets cold quickly if the door has been open for a while. I love the interior, its black interior with bright led light makes it different to look at, in a good way! Love, love, love it!

We've had our Jennair 48" Built-In Side-by-Side Refrigerator for almost a month now and we are loving it. We decided to go with the JS48NXFXDE model because it has an ice-maker but no dispenser on the door. The resulting space savings in the freezer allows us to store a lot more frozen goods. The obsidian interior and black shelves also add to the units simplicity and beauty.

My slide oven range with cooktop is well over 20 plus years old.. I cook on it every day. The oven works perfectly, the stove top works perfectly, I never had to have a repair.. THIS range was in my home when I purchased it. I was going to purchase a new range but my local appliance store salesperson told me that it is a great range and he suggested that I keep it. I am so happy that I listened to him.

We just moved into our new home and all the products are Jenn Air including the dishwasher. This is a high end appliance package - top of their line. So first, it is the quietest dishwasher we have ever had and we've had KitchenAid and General Electric. It also cleans beautifully. Perhaps some of the criticisms are for an older model or a different model but their top of the line is absolutely terrific... so far.

We purchased it in 2000 and never had a problem except replacing the burned-out oven light. It has convection and a regular oven. It can be a standalone as it was when we purchased it or built-in. We converted it to when we moved and replaced the "look-alike" leaky GE. Jenn-Air holds the heat in. Our's vents from the bottom, through the basement, and outside.
