Dishwasher Troubleshooting

JENN-AIR DISHWASHER NOT STARTING OR NOT OPERATING
There are several reasons why your Jenn-Air dishwasher not starting or not operating:
• control lock is on
• dishwasher is in sleep mode
• delayed wash option is selected
• door is not completely closed and latched
• water supply is not turned on
• the power needs to be cycled to reset the dishwasher

The control lock is used to avoid unintended use of the dishwasher as well as to avoid unintended cycle or option changes during a cycle, some model have a sleep mode function. The control lock light will stay on for a short time, indicating that it is activated and all buttons are disabled. If any buttons are pressed while the dishwasher control is locked, the light will flash three times. The door can still be opened/closed while the controls are locked.
NOTE: You may need to disable Sleep Mode by pressing either START/RESUME or CANCEL, or by opening and closing the door before you are able to turn the control lock off.
To turn off the control lock feature:
Press and hold the Lock Button for four seconds, the lock light will turn off.

HAS A DELAY WASH OPTION BEEN SELECTED?
A delay wash option runs the dishwasher at a later time or during off-peak electrical hours. If the delay wash has been selected, the dishwasher will not run until the delay time is reached.
To Turn Off the Delay Wash Feature:
Press CANCEL/DRAIN to cancel the delay.
Press START/RESUME to start the cycle.

IS THE DOOR COMPLETELY CLOSED AND LATCHED?
Make sure that the door is completely closed and latched. A lower dish rack that is installed backward can also cause the door to not latch properly.

HOW TO RESET THE DISHWASHER:
Much like a computer, resetting the dishwasher control can sometimes solve the issues you are experiencing. To reset the dishwasher control panel, it needs to be disconnected from the power source for one minute. If your dishwasher is plugged into an outlet, simply unplug the unit for one minute and then plug the unit back in. If the dishwasher is hard wired to the power supply, turn the breaker off at the home electrical panel that powers the dishwasher for one minute and then turn the breaker back on.

Microwave Troubleshooting

Nothing will operate
• Has a household fuse blown, or has a circuit breaker tripped? Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker. If the problem continues, call an electrician.

Microwave oven will not operate
• Is the magnetron working properly? Try to heat 1 cup (250 mL) of cold water for 2 minutes at 100% cooking power.
• Is the door completely closed? Firmly close door.
• Is a packaging spacer (on some models) attached to the inside of the door? Remove packaging spacer, then firmly close door.
• Is the electronic microwave oven control set correctly?
• Is the Control Lock set?
• Does "door" appear in the display? Open and close the microwave oven door, and then touch START.

Microwave oven makes humming noise
• This is normal and occurs when the power supply in the magnetron cycles on.

Microwave oven door looks wavy
• This is normal and will not affect performance.

Turntable will not operate
• Is the turntable properly in place? Make sure turntable is correct side up and is sitting securely on the turntable support.
• Is the turntable support operating properly? Remove turntable. Remove and clean turntable hub, support and rollers. Replace hub, support and turntable. Place 1 cup (250 mL) of water on the turntable, then restart microwave oven. Do not operate the microwave oven without turntable and turntable support working properly.

Turntable alternates rotation directions
• This is normal and depends on motor rotation at beginning of cycle.

Cooking times seem too long
• Is the cooking power set properly?
• Are large amounts of food being heated? Larger amounts of food need longer cooking times.
• Is the incoming voltage less than usual? Have a qualified electrician check the electrical system in the home.

Range Troubleshooting

Step 1
Check your home's electrical service panel for a blown fuse or tripped breaker and address these issues as necessary if your Jenn-Air oven does not operate at all. Failure of the oven's LCD display and touchscreen -- common features across Jenn-Air models -- to light up may indicate a power-related issue.

Step 2
Ensure that the oven's door is completely closed if the self-clean cycle does not operate.

Step 3
Disable the button lock function if the oven powers on but does not respond to your control input. On the screen, beside the "Button/Screen Lock" text, slide the bar up on the screen to unlock the buttons and touch controls. On some models, you can deactivate button lock by pressing and holding "Start" for three seconds until the oven beeps twice. Likewise, press "Cancel" to disable Sabbath mode, if your oven comes equipped with this feature.

Step 4
Adjust your oven's temperature offset if the cooking temperature seems too hot or too cold. First, touch "Setup Menu" on the main screen, then choose "Temperature Calibration" -- you'll have to choose which oven to calibrate if you have a double oven. Press "-1°" to reduce the temperature offset by one degree Fahrenheit or "+1°" to increase it. You can adjust the offset by up to 35 degrees in either direction. Press "Save" to finalize your choice.

Step 5
Move the oven racks to a higher position if your baked goods are consistently burnt on the bottom. If your food doesn't cook evenly, ensure that at least 2 inches of space exists between your cookware and the oven compartment's interior walls. This encourages proper heat circulation.

Refrigerator Troubleshooting

Check for Power Issues
Before you troubleshoot anything else for a JennAir refrigerator not cooling, check the power supply. Make sure the power cord is plugged in all the way. Also check the power cord for any damage, like frayed wires. If all seems well with the power cord, then inspect the outlet for damage. It’s possible the circuit tripped, so reset the switch to your refrigerator’s outlet to rule out a power issue. Don’t plug your refrigerator into an extension cord. Plug it directly into a grounded outlet. Doing otherwise is potentially dangerous and may damage your fridge.

Inspect Door Seals for Damage
A JennAir refrigerator won’t cool if the door seals or gaskets are dirty or damaged. First, clean it with warm, soapy water. Then be sure to rinse off all the soap and dry with a cloth. If cleaning the door gasket shows no results, test the seal. To check if the door gasket is sealing, make sure nothing else is blocking the refrigerator door from closing. Next, hold a piece of paper in the doorway and close the door. If the piece of paper can be pulled out with little to no resistance, then the gasket is not sealing correctly. Consequently, your JennAir refrigerator won’t get cold. A damaged door gasket needs replacement. Do this yourself by looking in your JennAir refrigerator owner’s manual for the correct part and detailed instructions.

Make Sure Temperature Is Set Properly
The perfect temperature range for your refrigerator is between 35 and 37 degrees Fahrenheit and below 0 degrees for the freezer. A temperature measuring above this indicates your JennAir refrigerator not cooling or the temperature settings are off. To check the temperature settings, look at the control panel found at the top of the refrigerator compartment. The display will tell you the current setting. Change the temperature using the up arrow button. This sets the refrigerator to a higher setting and lowers the temperature.

Clean the Condenser Coils
The most common reason for a JennAir refrigerator not cooling is dirty condenser coils. As the refrigerant moves through them, the coils release heat. When the coils are covered with dust, then they can’t release heat properly. Luckily, it’s easy to clean the coils yourself. Most JennAir condenser coils are found underneath the refrigerator. Use an appliance brush and vacuum hose to remove and suck up any debris. For hard to reach places, use a compressed air canister to blow away any remaining dirt.

We purchased it in 2000 and never had a problem except replacing the burned-out oven light. It has convection and a regular oven. It can be a standalone as it was when we purchased it or built-in. We converted it to when we moved and replaced the "look-alike" leaky GE. Jenn-Air holds the heat in. Our's vents from the bottom, through the basement, and outside. Love the backsplash with a light over the burners and a shelf for spices. After 20 years, the stainless steel still looks good.

We just moved into our new home and all the products are Jenn Air including the dishwasher. This is a high end appliance package - top of their line. So first, it is the quietest dishwasher we have ever had and we've had KitchenAid and General Electric. It also cleans beautifully. Perhaps some of the criticisms are for an older model or a different model but their top of the line is absolutely terrific... so far.

We have had our microwave/convection oven for about seven years. It still looks and acts brand new. The only caution I would have is make sure you measure it before you buy it. It is a bit longer than any other microwave we’ve ever purchased so we had to get fancy to fit it in the built-in space. By far the best microwave we’ve owned. It cleans up very easily too. Would recommend.

We've had our Jennair 48" Built-In Side-by-Side Refrigerator for almost a month now and we are loving it. We decided to go with the JS48NXFXDE model because it has an ice-maker but no dispenser on the door. The resulting space savings in the freezer allows us to store a lot more frozen goods. The obsidian interior and black shelves also add to the units simplicity and beauty.

I am so happy that I listened to him.
